Victorian Tea Barbie was an Avon-exclusive Barbie themed around, well, a Victorian-era Barbie having tea. However, this was not the only Barbie that Mattel used the phrase "Victorian Tea" for.

The Victorian Tea Porcelain Collection Barbies were two Barbies from the late 1990s depicting rather more elaborate Victorian-era fashion - and, of course, tea.

The two dolls in the collection were Orange Pekoe and Mint Memories.

I can't speak to exactly how accurate these fashions are, but they certainly look a lot more detailed and, well, less cheap than the Avon collaboration. Plus, as with all Barbies in the Porcelain collection, they came with absolutely beautiful box art.

Interestingly, the special care instructions enclosed with Mint Memories proclaimed that she was the first porcelain Barbie to have a moveable head so she could be posed with different "attitudes".

It also details that the teacup contains 22 karat gold paint and that, although her hand is posed to balance the teacup, they recommend adhering the cup and saucer to her hand with adhesive.

A few days ago I went to the forest to pick blueberries, but only found mushrooms instead. Today I went to the same forest to pick mushrooms but found... bones?

They were all quite spread out with the jawbone in the middle. The furthest bone was like 15 meters away from it. This is my biggest find yet- my bone collection doubled. We're thinking it's a boar because of the teeth in the jaw bone and I do recognise pig jaws because there was that time when I pulled teeth out of one for my collection.

fun little task today! cleaning this beauty and trying to restore her strawberry scent 🍓 i got her for £6.80 in a charity shop, which is an absolute steal seeing as she goes for about £30 on ebay. she’s an avon exclusive strawberry sorbet barbie from 1998 (also known as fruit fantasy barbie). she originally came smelling of strawberries (i still remember the smell, my next door neighbour had one in the 90s/00s) but sadly that’s faded on this girlie, so i’m washing her hair and clothes in strawberry shampoo + raspberry conditioner (i’d usually use fabric conditioner for their hair) and hopefully she will pick up some of that scent!!! 🤞

Springtime!

Happy first day of Spring, Barbie!

(I mean, not for me. For me, March 1 is the first day of Autumn. But I assume the majority of my followers are from the Northern Hemisphere.)

To celebrate the spirit of the season, here are a few Springtime Barbies. For example, remember when Mattel for some reason had a collaboration with direct sales company Avon? As a part of that, there was a series of Spring-themed Barbies available as Avon-exclusives.

Spring Petals and Spring Blossoms feel like they have some internal consistency, and then Spring Tea Party goes off on a bit of a tangent. Perhaps it's because Spring Bouquet, as a doll name, was already taken.

But of course, there are Spring themed Barbies that were released in places other than direct sales catalogs. For example, 2000's Goddess of Spring Barbie, in her beautiful lavender gown.

Or perhaps 2005's I Dream of Spring is more up your alley. I can't imagine why, as Goddess of Spring is clearly the frontrunner, but there's no accounting for taste.
