Experimental stealth aircraft of "Top Gun: Maverick" appears in a photo released by Kawasaki
Fernando Valduga By Fernando Valduga 04/21/22 - 00:31 in Military
Kawasaki Motors of the USA released a press release to talk about the presence of its brand as the motorcycle of Captain Pete "Maverick" Mitchell (Tom Cruise) present in the new movie "Top Gun: Maverick". But what caught our attention was the alleged hypersonic fighter that appeared behind the bike and which is also in the movie...
“There are few scenes from motorcycle movies more iconic than Captain Pete 'Maverick' Mitchell riding his Kawasaki Ninja GPZ 900R along the flight line at the United States Navy Hunting Weapons School in Miramar, California, in 1986. This scene helped consolidate Mitchell's 'Maverick' image as a Top Gun hero," the statement said.
"Working with the "Top Gun: Maverick" team was amazing," said Kawasaki Motors Corp., USA, vice president of marketing, Chris Brull. “When we had the chance to get on board and see our Kawasaki Ninja motorcycles on the big screen again, we had to get involved. We know that Maverick is a dedicated Kawasaki pilot and we ensure that he had a garage full of Kawasaki models.”
youtube
To show the new Kawasaki Ninja H2 Carbon that Tom Cruise uses in the new film, the Japanese manufacturer released an image of the bike in a hangar and behind appears an experimental stealthy hypersonic aircraft that in the second trailer in 2019, almost at the end, appears taking off with Tom Cruise on board.
Tumblr media
Previous photos of Tom Cruise on the seven filming show him wearing a pressure suit for high-altitude flights worn by U-2 and SR-71 aircraft pilots, with a patch from an alleged hypersonic aircraft test squadron.
Tumblr media
The aircraft reappeared in a line of Matchbox toys, under the name Darkstar, along with other planes in the film such as the F-14, Super Hornet, P-51 and Su-57.
Tumblr media
Now a part of this futuristic design stealth aircraft, reminiscent of the SR-72 presented by Lockheed in 2013, appears under the name "Captain Pete Mitchell 'Maverick" written on the canopy.
"Top Gun: Maverick" will premiere in theaters on May 27, 2022. Check out the latest trailer below.

🔸Elevators, which are on the tail of a plane, help an airplane go up and down, which we call pitch.   🔸When the pilot wants the plane to go up, they tilt the elevator up. This means there is LESS lift on the tail than on the wings, so the nose of the plane goes up!  What do you think about this post? Video shows the insane flight training that Tom Cruise and his colleagues went through in "Top Gun: Maverick"
Fernando Valduga By Fernando Valduga 04/19/22 - 5:27 PM in Military
Any Tom Cruise fan knows that the actor is an adrenaline junkie addict and that he is always fully committed to every dangerous scene he performs. Inside the cockpit of the fighters in "Top Gun: Maverick" it was no different, according to a video released this week.
Becoming "Maverick" once again allowed him to take the flight stunts of the original film to a higher level. But it wasn't just Cruise who needed to be ready to fly, because his castmates needed to learn what it's like to fly on U.S. Navy fighters. In the recent video released just a few weeks before his film debut, you can see the insane flight training that the actor and his colleagues from "Top Gun: Maverick" went through.
youtube
With the Hollywood icon serving as a star and producer, he wanted to make sure that he and the cast were prepared to perform the realistic aviation scenes. The famous actor then recruited the U.S. Navy and the Real-life Top Gun School to help achieve this goal. He delved deeper into how the specific plan was drawn up before filming began.
"We worked with the U.S. Navy and Top Gun School to formulate how to fly in a practical way, because if we are going to do this, we will fly in the F-18s," Cruise said.
Tumblr media
Of course, Tom Cruise wanted to fly real jets. But he was not the only one to promote the idea of aviation training, since legendary producer Jerry Bruckheimer echoed the sentiment, saying: "The aviation sequences had to be real. So, the actors went through three months of exhaustive training."
Three months of flight training may seem outrageous, but it was necessary to film those realistic air combat scenes. But the creation and implementation of the training plan was not in charge of Bruckheimer or a production coordinator, but by Cruise himself. According to actress Monica Barbaro (also known as Phoenix), the Hollywood actor took the reins when it comes to flight training.

From then on, Tom designed this comprehensive aviation training for all actors.
Like any Tom Cruise action movie, the training was complete to prepare the cast to pilot an F-18. There were levels for hunting training. The film icon facilitated the training of the cast in aviation, starting them in a small single-engine plane to create space awareness. Then they went to an aerobatic aircraft. Eventually, the actors moved to an L-39 jet for stunt training before moving on to the F-18 fighter to practice launching from an aircraft carrier.
Tumblr media
But learning how to fly powerful fighters was only part of the intense regime the cast went through to prepare for the intense flight scenes of the film.
“That footage of the flight was intense and exciting at the same time. At least viewers know that the cast was committed to giving them the best possible aviation scenes. There is a deeper appreciation for these combat scenes from the trailer for the sequel," said the director of "Top Gun: Maverick" Joseph Kosinski, who wanted to put the actors on the air for an authentic feeling.
youtube
Stars Miles Teller and Lewis Pullman told what it was like to participate in the Cruise training program. The first called it the "Tom Cruise training camp" involving physical conditioning and stunts, while the latter admitted to vomiting in the cockpit (but not on camera).
Tumblr media
It's only a matter of time before viewers have the chance to see all the action flying high in Top Gun: Maverick. The action movie hits theaters on May 27.
