I can't overstate how much I love the color wheel (or color pie) from Magic:The Gathering
Tumblr media
I started playing magic back in 2001 when I was 14, Odyssey had just come out. I knew a bit of English, and I soon started reading Magic's website for news and spoilers. That's when I discovered @markrosewater 's column Making Magic. MaRo is both a great game designer and an impressive writer, his column was entertaining, witty, fun and informative. I consider Magic and especially his column to be the main reason I learned to read English so fast.
Now, 2001 was a period of transformation in Magic. The main saga in the story had just ended (consider Avengers:Endgame), and the people at WotC were reconsidering and rebalancing the color wheel. I remember there being weeks dedicated to the single colors, and MaRo's comulumn being deeeep dives into those colors.
Now, what's the color wheel? You see, in the universe of Magic: The Gathering the primordial energy and building block is mana, which comes in one of five colors: white, blue, black, red and green. Mechanically, each card is associated to one (or more) colors, and each color has mechanics that are typical for it, like green being the color of growth and big creatures, blue being the color of spells and flying, and black being the color of death and zombies. But the people at WotC put a lot of effort to also distinguish each color thematically, defining *why* each color has certain mechanics, what it says about the color's philosophy and values. Green is the color of nature and community, where the small ones help the big ones grow and foster. Blue is the color of knowledge and artificiality, black is the color.
It's pretty intuitive most of the time, but here's where it gets even better: the placing of the colors on the wheel has a meaning. Colors that are close to each other are "allied" colors and have something in common, while colors that are opposite of each other represent the two opposites on an axis:
Tumblr media
I don't have the time (or skill) to go into detail here, but this system is so damn elegant. It has five basix building blocks but allows to represent an incredibly vast array of concepts, characters and behaviors.
Tumblr media
The color wheel is still my favourite system to define/describe fictional characters, it's miles better than the alignment chart of D&D (or, like, hogwarts houses).
I find it incredibly fun to discuss what color(s) certain character fall into: is superman white, green? Is batman white, black, blue? A combination of those? Ryuko Matoi is red, Satsuki Kiryuin is white. Do you disagree? Perfect, tell me why, it's always super interesting to see which aspects of a character people consider the most prominent!
My favourite Magic blocks and sets were those playing with the color wheel and its concepts, mainly Planar Chaos but ESPECIALLY Ravnica. Man, I really need to play some rpg campaign set on Ravnica sooner or later.
I played magic for 5-6 years (until I finished high school), but the color wheel is ingrained in my mind. It was the main chitchat topic when I first started going out with my SO more than 15 years ago xD
So yeah, not sure who this is for, it's mainly me rambling and fanboying about one of my favourite game design and character creation concepts. If you don't know the color wheel, I suggest you try to read a bit about it. And if you do know it, what do you think? Is there anyone out there who used it as a basis for an rpg or foe writing?

**avengers: endgame spoiler**
question: if you give the soul stone back, do you get back the soul you traded for it? like does “a soul for a soul” work both ways?
what i really want to know is if nat (not sure if gamora could in this reality stream) could be brought back? but tbh if she could then steve would have gotten her back when he returned all the infinity stones at the end? or does it need to be hawkeye who trades it back?
i am un poco confusion

Can we please stop saying that that scene from Avengers: Endgame was all about girl power? Cause it didn’t make any fucking sense and it was only there to get feminism brownie points without putting in any of the work

No spoilers whatsoever.
But I’m gutted about Endgame- and not in a cute fandom type “I’m gutted” like I’m genuinely gutted right now.
A decade of building up to this movie and I personally didn’t like it. I feel numb.

Avengers: Endgame Reaction with Spoilers
Once again ended up in a very reactive theater that enhanced my Marvel experience! I’m so glad I finally went to see this movie and can now join in on the reviews/discussions ^^ So, in no specific order, here is a sporadic list of reactions I had during the movie. May edit as I recall more.
Cute moments:
-Tony and Nebula playing in space
- Giddy Hawkeye and Widow flying their first space-ship
- Thor with Frigga
- Ned n’ Pete with the handshake (though, it was pretty sad too; the comfort of a friend)
Moments where I LOLed:
- Spiderman getting tossed around like a hot potato
- Nat and Clint fighting to be the sacrifice (more ironic laughter)
- Loki mimicking the Cap’n
- Rocket’s banter with Scott
- Thor threatening kids on Fortnite
- Hulk the Idol
- Hulk from 2012
Scenes that made my heart decay in my chest:
- Rhodey checks on Tony, Peter watches Tony die, Pepper says goodbye, that ENTIRE SCENE
- Natasha talking about her family :’(
- Thor’s moments of clarity
- Scott looking for baby-girl’s name at ‘The Vanished’ memorial
- Tony and Peter reunion (but in a good way <3)
- Tony finally spending quality time with his dad
Times I bounced in my seat and cheered loudly:
- LOKIIIIIIII~~
- YIBAMBE!
- The appearance of the sorcerer’s portals
- Avengers Assemble Scene
- The Ladies of Marvel handling Thanos’ Ass
- Thanos getting double-teamed by the Worthy Men
- Tony’s slight-o-hand and wielding of the Infinity Gauntlet
Moments where I was dancing in my seat:
- Quills dance break
- That remix of the Avengers theme during the final battle (Pls tell me yall peeped that fire)
Disgusting moments:
-Thor’s beer belly

What’s Left Behind | Avengers: Endgame
Implied Tony Stark x Reader
Summary: “What about those left behind, struggling to reach that same amount of normalcy they were promised? What more is there to say?”
*SPOILERS BELOW*
They all say that your life will resume eventually, that everything will return to normalcy until the year follows because you’re supposed to not let it consume your life. They hold you as you remain stiff in their embrace, your shoulder wet with the taste of salt and sorrow as they look for you for comfort. They don’t ask why tears don’t fall past your eyelashes, for they know you too well. None of it ever changes, that you are sure of, except your eyes fall to the ripples of water that spread from grief-stricken clouds contrasting your impassive demeanor with the realization that change is more prevalent than you would have liked. Of course, you can snap your fingers and drag the clouds from their despondence, perhaps become the light the world was in need of a year ago, but you wonder how fitting that would be when the light of your life was extinguished that same day.
The world isn’t as it was without him, yet a child remains unaware of that as her footprints stop just behind yours near the lake. Her hair grows past her shoulders, her outfit as red as the suit her father spent his life in, yet a smile stretches at her chubby cheeks not knowing just how important she is… was to him—to you. Her tiny frame wraps around one of your legs, and she, Morgan, calls your name until you’re obligated to spare a glance over your shoulder, a grin tugging on your lips that’s too much of a façade for a child to inquire about. Her hair begins to frizz, strands becoming out of place as she stands outside in the rain for what seems like no reason at all, and a thought runs rampant that Tony beyond existence thinks you need her.
That’s the last person I need, someone like you.
The world is no longer the same now that the infamous playboy philanthropist is gone, a title you once loathed hearing, and you notice the change happening when a teenager stands adjacent to you by the lake house. Like Morgan, Peter finds your frown in his periphery before mimicking your actions and shuffling his gaze towards a lake meant for the loss of many. Your eyes remain fixated on petals drifting in the waters, petals of a flower that decorated the brief eulogy of a man who sacrificed a life he once fought for so those close to him can continue the fight to live as their own. You almost fail to remember that the last of his legacy is frolicking behind you in the pouring rain because the tribute of flowers embracing his soul was off without a body or mind to dictate it, now frivolous in the bottom of the sea. Is society aware of that? Are the people aware who they truly lost?
“I miss him,” Peter chokes out with a shake of his head, as he is but a child still naïve to loss and how it will tear him apart regardless of whether he deserves it or not. The Grim Reaper will catch his fleeting gaze, and only then will he realize of how expendable he is in this world.
You miss him too, you suppose; you miss his smart mouth and you miss his impact he left on the world when the only danger was to New York—finer days, as New York truly needed the upgrade in their subway systems. You reminisce of that grin reserved only for you when you were positive he was the one. You miss the moment he soared into space with the promise that you would be alright, because regardless of what happened, nothing would change but the absence of a man too good for this world. The years have not been kind to you since, because the world fell apart eventually until you were forced to pick up the pieces of everyone you lost, futile attempts to reunite them weighing at your conscious because normalcy depended on it. The second Tony Stark decided that he was going to end all of it, the regret, melancholy, the ache in your heart that life was meant for more than this, the second you found that the lack of snide comments and childlike independence was something that could never be replaced.
Morgan cries out your name, dirt coating her hands as she digs into the earth with a grin reserved for you, and you return the favor by allowing the tears to trail down your chin. The droplets glisten on your skin, persevering despite your pleads for them to stop. They told you that life will be better, that he will be but a distant thought that will fuel you to live if not for his lingering memory. They told you that he is in a better place, where he no longer has to worry about the fate of the world he fought so hard to protect, sitting idle until people like you follow him into a blissful afterlife you fucking knew didn’t exist. Perhaps that’s the hope people hold onto, that there exists a place more than the one they occupy, a paradise where their loved ones wait, and wait, and wait until they are ready to move on.
What about Morgan? What the hell are you supposed to tell her?
What about those left behind, struggling to reach that same amount of normalcy they were promised? What more is there to say?

THE ONE CHARACTER I WANTED TO SEE IN ENDGAME(SPOILERS DUH)
OKAY SO I WANT TO KNOW WHY PHIL ‘SON OF COUL, SEVENTH AVENGER, UNITER OF THE AVENGERS TEAM, DIRECTOR OF SHIELD’ COULSON WASN’T IN ENDGAME. OF ALL THE THINGS I HAVE STEWED OVER SINCE FRIDAY NIGHT, THAT IS THE MAIN ONE.
LIKE OKAY, I GET IT. THERE WAS PROBABLY CONFLICTS OF SCHEDULES WITH FILMING AOS.
THEY PROBABLY DIDN’T WANT TO EXPLAIN TO PEOPLE WHO DON’T WATCH AOS ON HOW PHIL CAME BACK FROM THE DEAD(SPOILERS: IT’S HEARTBREAKING AND AWFUL).
OR THEY DIDN’T WANT TO WRITE AN EXPLANATION ON WHERE THE FUCK PHIL HAS BEEN SINCE 2012 BASICALLY.
OR! OR! THEY PROBABLY DIDN’T TALK TO THE WRITER’S OF AOS SINCE THE NEW SEASON IS COMING OUT MAY 10TH AND SINCE ENDGAME TAKES 5 FUCKING YEARS IN THE FUTURE, IT WOULD HAVE BEEN CONFUSING AS ALL FUCK.
THAT’S PROBABLY THE REASON BUT STILL! THEY SHOULD HAVE AT LEAST SHOWN HIM IN THE PAST OR GO BACK IN TIME BEFORE LOKI CAME THROUGH THE DAMN PORTAL. SOMETHING. ANYTHING!!!
I JUST WANTED TO SEE HIM ON THE BIG SCREEN AGAIN, ESPECIALLY AFTER SEEING HIM IN CAPTAIN MARVEL FOR A FEW SCENES. I JUST WANTED TO SEE HIM ON SCREEN WITH EVERYONE JUST ONE MORE TIME.
JUST ONE LAST TIME.Please.
