Was currently doing some research and got swept into the current arc with the Avengers (🙈🫣yeah I’m reading an Avengers comic 💀) and it’s got me thinking a couple things.

This is going to sound very biased coming from someone who was a Fantastic Four fan first, but I really would’ve liked it if Dr. Doom became the Sorcerer Supreme in Strange (2022), whether he took that title by force from Clea or not (by force could lead into some cool plot lines we can’t get into rn). I definitely understand that the theme behind Strange, (with Stephen choosing Clea to hold down the fort and all) is about love and reunion, and that’s OK. With the way Marvel treated Clea the past four years it’s what she actually deserves.

But since I’m also biased towards villains I still can’t help but think about what life would be like if Victor was Supreme instead. I mean, with Clea’s personality change, her adopting her families’ warlike (and aggressively violent) personalities, we would not get much of a difference if it was her or Victor.

I provided the images above from Avengers Assemble: Alpha (2022-) where a confrontation between Agamotto and a Doom that refers to himself as a “Doom Supreme.” His self proclaimed name got me to spark this discussion in the first place. This an ongoing arc btw, so can you imagine this Doom Supreme confronting our Dr. Doom of Earth-616 who would, in an AU, be the current Supreme? They could have had a tie in with Strange and everything! Listen, apparently Doom Supreme is a murderer of hundreds of gods and sorcerers, and that includes versions of “Strange” and Clea. So that could lead to this multiversal Doom defeating 616!Doom in a fight. Meaning earth once again would be without a Supreme. Then we could say that Clea takes his place and the cycle restarts.

Avengers Assemble: Alpha really hit me with this alt Doom and his name including the word “supreme” really got my imagination running. I’ve just been very dissatisfied with Clea’s run as a Supreme, and I’m now looking to the future to see who will be next. My dream list includes Doctor Doom and Billy Kaplan (which is presumably the guy who will officially take Stephen’s place in the near future, see Doctor Strange and the Sorcerer Supremes).

Defenders #16 Highlights

I don't usually do #Highlights for single issues, but Defenders #16 is a banger and a stealth X-Men comic with some cool guests.

The premise is that Mags has bio-engineered Alpha, the Ultimate Mutant - and plans to crush his enemies and rule the world through him. It'll become more clear how impressive Mags' achievement is here, and speaks to how good he was at evil science. Chuck forms an ad hoc Defenders non-team with Doctor Strange to stop him. Neither can touch Alpha.

The Brotherhood of EEEVIL Mutants are there too (minus the Maximoff twins who are now Avengers) but they don't do much. The Hulk has a shot next but Alpha no-sells his assault. Blob says something very clever - 'just kill them bro' but Mags (who really needs to brush his teeth) has a very narrow definition of victory.

Alpha seals the cavern they're in shut and teleports to New York!

The homies roll up to the UN, and Alpha seems to be evolving very rapidly. Mags quotes The Doors to the General Assembly and they say no. At his command, Alpha...

... fucking levitates the building several kilometres into the air.

Alpha is basically a proto-Beyonder at this point, though he's still taking orders on the premise that the Defenders are evil. He doesn't want to kill them though, which is lucky because they made it into the building but are drawing dead power-wise.

Alpha has a trick for everyone, including turning Valkyrie's legs into putty. Chuck recognises a kindred spirit in him, though his head is much bigger and balder. His argument is basically 'Magneto is full of shit.' Alpha is intrigued!

Having reached full God mode (how the fuck did Mags cook this guy up?) he decides to judge everyone. Not looking good Mags, though he makes his case.

Alpha is like 'nah fuck that, I'll turn you all into babies.' Then he undoes all the havoc and decides Earth sucks so he bails immediately, never to return.

See! Babies. Hulk is like 'what the fuck just happened?' and the Brotherhood of Breastfeeding Mutants cry a lot, as you would. Magneto created a God and now he's an infant, again. There's probably a philosophical lesson here but I got nothing. Pretty wild shit.
