~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
“What?”
The news was broken to you over dinner.  You were supposed to be marrying the Firelord’s daughter, Princess Azula.  “Don’t I get a say in this?”
“I’m sorry, son.  We can’t refuse an offer of the Firelord.”  Your father informed.
“I wouldn’t call it an offer.”  You muttered, crossing your arms over your chest.
“What was that?”  Your mother asked, sending you a scolding glance.
“Nothing.”  You replied.  You stared at your plate, suddenly having lost your appetite.  Coming from a high-class family had its benefits.  Unfortunately, it also meant people, including the Firelord, paid more attention to you.
“This will be a great opportunity for us.”  Your father voiced.  “Surely you can see that.”
You remained silent, gritting your teeth and clenching your jaw.  Your mother sighed.
“We just want what’s best for the family.”  She explained.  You nodded, knowing that this would, in fact, be best for the family, but not you.  You heard stories of the princess, and you weren’t a fan.  Sure, she was a strong woman, but she was cold and cruel.
“May I be excused?”  You asked, wanting to leave this conversation; as if leaving the conversation would make the situation less real.
“You’ve hardly touched your food.”  Your mother noted.
“I lost my appetite.”  You quickly explained.  Your parents shared a look.
“Very well, but don’t leave a meal in the presence of the Firelord.”  Your mother instructed.  You nodded and stood, swiftly exiting the room.  You opened the door to your house and ventured outside, petting the cat-owl that perched on a railing.  You looked over to your stables, looking at the many animals your family owned.
A dragon-moose for pulling, a hippo-cow for food and drink, a herd of koala-sheep for clothes, a few komodo-rhinos for travel, and a couple turtle-ducks you asked for as a kid, because they’re cute.
You looked up, observing the sunset; the pinkish hue accenting your skin and hair.  Why was this happening?  Why you?  Why now?  Why so sudden?  A million questioned rattled around in your mind as you tried to solve them.  Coming up with no answers, no solid ones, anyway, you let out a groan, fire spilling out from the corners of your mouth.
It was now dark.  You huffed, smoke flowing out of your nose.  Standing, you assumed position, and with a kick and two jabs, fire emerged from your foot and hands.  You continued your drills for the next half-hour, converting your anger and frustration into something useful.
“Son?”
You turned around, hearing your mother’s voice.
“We’ll be leaving tomorrow to the palace.”  She informed.  Your face contorted into one of displeasure.
“Mother-”
“Make sure you’re prepared.  We leave at mid-day.”  With that, she closed the door, disappearing inside, once again leaving you alone.  You let out a frustrated grunt, bringing your hands down, a large amount of fire with it.  The grass around you caught aflame, lighting up the darkness.  You sighed, walking over to a bucket and dumping the water on the fire.  Placing the now empty bucket back, you sighed, running your hands along your face.  You looked up at the moon, and deciding you needed rest, ventured indoors.
~Why me~
Waking at dawn, you arose and got changed, heading to the table.  One of the family servants, knowing your schedule, placed the plate in front of you, having it already prepared.
“Thank you, Lin.”
She bowed, backing out of the room.  You ate quickly, wanting to get as much done as possible before you left.  You at least wanted to train some more.  You walked outside, pouring various amounts of various kinds of food into buckets, getting ready to feed the animals.  The servants used to, but you insisted that you did it.  You liked the animals, and wanted to feel useful in your own home.  Besides, they were always busy, so taking a load off their shoulders was always a plus.
You placed the food in the troughs, and gave the animals’ fresh water.  Looking up at the sky, you squinted.  The sun was bright, and the day was warm.  You took off your shirt, beginning to go through drills again.  Your parents had always wanted your training in everything to be perfect, and now that you were supposed to be marrying the Firelord’s daughter, you felt you had to be perfect as well.  Being disowned was not on your list of things you wanted to do; not that you had one.  Sure, you wanted to do things, but that wasn’t your place as the son in a highly respected family.
You moved around in the yard, dodging nothing, as you pretended to be challenging a real opponent.  You had a thin layer of sweat covering you, and your breathing was slightly labored.  You spun around, hand coming down in a diagonal slice, when it was stopped.  You looked and saw the princess, her wrist against your own, blocking the blow.  Your eyes widened.
“Princess Azula.”  You bowed.
“Yes.  You must be D/n/i.”  She spoke, examining her fingernails.  You opened your mouth, but it wasn’t your voice that came out.
“Actually, it’s Y/n.”  Your mother spoke, stepping out of the house.  She bowed as well.  “We were not expecting you, Princess.”
“My father sent me.  There was a slight change of plans.  He has a meeting today, and will not be able to attend the lunch date.  However, he sent me over to collect D/n/i, so that he may come over anyway.”
“I see.”  Your mother voiced.  She didn’t bother correct her on your name a second time, but you couldn’t blame her.  Azula was not someone you annoyed with such little details.  Even if it was her future husband’s name.
“Will he be ready in a few minutes?”  Azula asked your mother.
“Yes.  Y/n, go get yourself presentable.”  She instructed, turning to you briefly.  You bowed one last time before collecting your shirt and heading indoors.  Your breathing and heart-rate had definitely increased, which only now showed freely.  You took deep breaths as you walked quickly to your room, passing your father on the way.
“Done training already?”  He asked.
“The princess is here.”  You explained quickly.
“Of course she is.”  Your father muttered.  “Go get cleaned up.”  You nodded, continuing on your way, washing briefly and getting dressed.  You left your room, walking outside, seeing your father standing next to your mother.  You stood on the other side of your father.
“Let’s go.”  The princess instructed.  You looked to your parents, unsure.  They nodded.  You gave them each a bow before they collected you in a hug.  You turned back to the princess, who handed you the reigns to a mongoose-dragon.
“I have animals I could ride, your majesty.”  You informed, jerking your thumb back to the stable.
“Simple guards ride those.”  She noted, squinting at the komodo-dragons.  “You will ride something of higher status.”
You nodded.  “Thank you, your highness.”  You climbed atop the mongoose-dragon, looking slightly uneasy.  You’d seen these creatures before, and while they were incredibly loyal to those they know, they also moved quite oddly, as well as being fast.
“I should warn you, they can smell fear.”  Azula informed.
“Fantastic.”  You muttered, gripping the reigns.  Azula smirked, not that you noticed, and rode off.
~Why her~
The conversing on the way there was scarce.  You weren’t in the mood to talk, and Azula seemed to have no problem with this.  You arrived at the palace, dismounting the creatures and walking in.  (Some servants came to take care of the mongoose-dragons.)  You observed the large establishment in awe, though with a twinge of fear.  The rooms were all large, the ceilings easily reaching the height of a tall tree.  You figured it must be in case a fight broke out.
She stopped suddenly, turning to you.  “The servants will show you your room.  You have access to the castle, so you may do what you wish, as long as you don’t cause problems.  Understand?”
“Yes, Princess.  Thank you.”  You bowed.  She nodded at you briefly before walking away.  You brought yourself up to full height again, raising an eyebrow.  As Azula disappeared from view, a servant appeared and gestured for you to follow her.  You did, as she showed you your new room.
It was nice, with mostly red, yellow, and black as the color scheme.  You looked around, observing the large room.  You were broken from your thoughts when the servant spoke again.
“You are allowed everywhere except the counsel room, and the throne room, unless the Firelord or Princess Azula allow it.”  She spoke quietly.  You turned, facing her as she spoke.  You listened, not wanting to get into trouble.
“What’s your name?”  You asked.  “I’d hate to just call you ‘servant’.”  You admitted, smiling softly at her.  However, she looked at you with wide eyes.  It almost seemed as though it was strange for you to ask such a thing.  Though, it was.  She looked at you for a few minutes, and for a moment, you thought she looked like she’d forgotten her name.  It seemed like she did.
“Shula.”  She replied, her voice barely above a whisper.  You smiled at her confession.
“Well, Shula, I hope to see you later.”  You told her.  Her expression of surprise quickly turned into one of joy.  She nodded before backing away, disappearing around a corner.  You watched her leave, your face immediately forming into a frown once she’d gone.  You sat down on the large bed, letting out a sigh and rubbing your hand along your face.
Your gaze raised up to the window, before looking back at the door.  You glanced at the window once more before standing and deciding to do some exploring.
~~~~~~~~~
You walked aimlessly through the long hallways, stopping when you caught a glimpse of something on the wall.  It was a large portrait of the Firelord.  You looked it up and down, slowly drinking in the details.  You looked to the paintings before it.  One of Ozai’s father, and the one before that a painting of Sozin.
You looked over the paintings, an unsettling feeling entering your stomach.  They looked strong.  Powerful.  Vengeful.  And something else you could only describe as a lust for domination.  You resisted the urge to shudder.
“Amazing, aren’t they?”  A voice broke you out of your thoughts.  You turned, seeing Azula.
“Yes, Princess.”  You lied.  She eyed you carefully.
“Great rulers, don’t you think?”  She asked, crossing her arms and raising an eyebrow at you.  You nodded without hesitation.
“Yes.”  You answered, not taking your eyes off of the lineup.  They were great rulers, but that didn’t make them great people.  “If you don’t mind me asking, who will be next in this hall?”  You asked, pointing to the empty space on the other side of Ozai.
“Probably me.”  She answered without a moment’s hesitation.  She inspected her nails.  “It was supposed to be my brother, seeing as he’d be the next Firelord, but he’s a traitor now, so it has to be me.”  She determined.  You nodded.
“Makes sense.”  You admitted.  There was silence for a few moments until she broke it.
“Well,” she started, a soft sigh escaping her lips, “there’s no reason to hang out here all day.  Even if they are the greatest rulers this world has ever seen.”  She remarked.  Your eyebrow pulled upwards slightly, though she didn’t seem to notice.  “Let’s go.”
“Where are we going, if I may ask?”  You questioned, following her.
“It’s lunch time.”  She glanced back at you, an evil glint in her eye.  “You want to eat, don’t you?”
~~~~~~~~~~~
Months had passed, and you’ve only seen the Firelord once.  You had seen Azula almost every day, and today was no different.  You were walking though one of the countless halls, when you were tackled from behind, brought to the floor.
“Guess who?”
You smirked, pulling your body into a push-up position, then moving to stand fully.  The figure on your back let out a small yelp.  “Azula.”  You guessed, smiling and grabbing her legs, keeping her from falling.  She chuckled.
“How’d you know?”  She asked, sliding off of you.
“Who else would it be?”  You questioned, turning to face her.  What she wore surprised you.  She wasn’t in her usual armor, but instead a red shirt and pants.  The fabric wasn’t anything special either.  She looked…..normal.
“What is it?”  She asked, wrapping her arms around herself.  You looked up at her face, noticing her hair was also mostly down.
“Nothing.”  You murmured.  “You look nice.”  You admitted.  Her face held a small red glow for a second, but she quickly recovered.
“I wanted to spend some time outside.”  She informed.  “It’s nice out.”
You smiled softly, taking her hand and pulling her outside.  She laughed as you did so, the wonderful sound echoing through the large building.  It used to be such a foreign sound.  Though within the past few days, you’ve really connected.  You had said something over dinner that she thought was absolutely hilarious.  Since then, she’s been more relaxed, finally realizing that she’s still young.
She was only like this with you, though.  To everyone else, she hadn’t changed.  Or if she had, it was miniscule.
You pulled her outside, the warm sun hitting your skin.  A cool breeze blew past, nicely contrasting it.  “It is nice out.”  You commented.
“I told you it was.”  She replied.  There wasn’t much plant life here, compared to your old home, man, you should really write to your parents, but you could still walk around and enjoy the day.
“Can I tell you something?”  You asked, once you had gone inside.  It had gotten dark, so you both retreated indoors.  The only light was a lamp on the desk.  She nodded.
“Of course.”
“I was afraid when I had first gotten word of the….arrangement.”  You admitted.  You looked at her, gaging her reaction.  She kept a mostly neutral face, but you could see a tiny ounce of hurt.  “But I’m not afraid anymore.”  You confessed quickly.  “Azula, I care about you deeply.  I never thought I could, but anything’s possible.  You’ve shown me that.”  You told her, now looking her straight in the eyes.  They were getting shiny.  You cupped her face in your hands.  “I’m thankful for this chance to know the real you.”  You paused, taking in a breath.  “The you I love.”
A tear escaped her eye, taking you slightly off guard.  You wiped it away.  She let out a small laugh, leaning forward and kissing you.  You pulled away seconds later, smiling at her.
“I love you, too, Y/n.”
Number 10 please!! I'm a huge Avatar:TLA fan and would be really interested to see which marauders character you'd assign where 👀
hi!
so this is still very much in the planning phase, however i do have a vague idea of characters’ roles in the plot and story. its been changing a bit as ive been rewatching the original show and taking notes but as it stands:
it will be endgame jegulus and wolfstar :)
regulus and sirius are from the southern water tribe. its been difficult deciding which of them can bend, but right now ive settled with regulus being a water bender, and sirius a nonbender. ofc the personalities of sokka and katara are switched in this case
james is aang, the optimistic and kindhearted avatar, who just so happened to disappear right at the start of a hundred-year war. this was the plan from the start tbh; i couldnt imagine anything else
remus, ive decided, is toph. blind and forever underestimated by his parents, remus competes in underground earth bending tournaments and always comes out on top. when a trio of reckless, idiotic, stupid boys (barring regulus, to an extent. he seemed to be the only one amongst them with a brain cell) offers him a journey of a lifetime, remus takes it, despite his hesitance at first
the roles of zuko and azula were hard to fill, at first. originally, these were going to be sirius and regulus, but obviously that’s changed. instead, im considering narcissa and bellatrix respectively. there’s a reason andromeda is not included in this bit, and i have an explanation as to why the black sisters are fire nation royalty, while the black brothers are in the water tribe, however that will have to wait for the fic
iroh, i think, would have been minnie or alphard, in the original plan. however, since the black brothers are not the fire nation royals, minnie is out and im not entirely set on someone else. alphard is still in the running, but ive not made any decisions there yet.
as for where peter comes in, i actually considered him in the role of jet. y’know, traitor? especially using regulus (as katara) to join the merry band of death eaters who only want to do what’s right against the fire nation, of course. even if some people have to die. again though, im not 100% set on this, and im still doing my rewatch so i might end up finding a more fitting role for him.
a little fun note though: i almost had remus as yueh (idk how to spell her name - the princess in the northern water tribe). i thought it would be funny having remus turn into the moon, but i want endgame wolfstar so unfortunately that had to be thrown out.
one of the valkyries would definitely be suki (tsuki? im sorry im bad at names), but i cant decide which of them i want there, and who i want to use for other roles. anyway, suki would be either mary, lily, or marlene
there are other side characters i have definite decisions over, but those will have to wait for the fic :)
as of right now its still unnamed, and i dont have a timeline for when it’ll be written or released, but it exists!
This is an interesting topic that I want to expand upon. I don’t think that Ozai was physically abusive to Ursa and Zuko (besides the Agni Kai which Ozai believes was justified given the societal norms of Elite Fire Nation Society) like how many in the fandom believe he is. Ozai isn’t some deadbeat drunkard abusive father that takes out his anger and fury on his wife and children due to his own personal struggles and feelings of inadequacy.
Rather that Ozai was emotionally abusive towards his wife and children not because his desire to treat them cruelly but as a result his coldblooded, ruthless, and vicious imperialistic personality, attitude, and beliefs that he inherited from his forefathers Fire Lords: Sozin & Azulon. Which Ozai desires to instill into Zuko and Azula as his heir and heiress to their ancestors legacy of Fire Imperialism.
Ozai is renowned in the Fire Nation and the World as the greatest firebender of his generation and Agni Kai duelist champion. Along with being the Second Son of Fire Lord Azulon. Ozai certainly has the infamous Second Son Syndrome like Daemon & Aemond from HOTD. Given that they are treated as spare heirs and pushed themselves more ruthlessly due to their lack of inheritance.
Just like how Daemon and Aemond view themselves as the rightful heirs of the Blood of the Dragon of House Targaryen. Ozai view himself as the rightful heir to Sozin and Azulon’s legacy of Fire Imperialism due to his personality of ruthlessness, brutality, and viciousness being in line with his forefathers original ideals being brainwashed and indoctrinated into him since his early childhood.
“We are the son and daughter of fire…the superior element!” - Admiral Zhao
This why Ozai views Iroh and Zuko as “unworthy” of the Flaming Burning Throne of their forefathers. They do not “deserve” their birthright inheritance due to not embodying Sozin and Azulon imperialistic beliefs and attitudes to a fanatical degree like Ozai and Azula do.
In regards to Ozai and Ursa’s relationship. I doubt that Ozai was the most affectionate, compassionate, caring, and loving husband in the same way that Iroh probably was with his own wife. However, Ozai did care for his wife and children but his imperialistic attitude and behavior is paramount rather than his wife and children’s own happiness and desires. Ozai is certainly more of a warlord than a family man.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Do you think that Ozai was abusive towards Ursa in the show?
I think to answer this question, one would have to contextualize abuse within the culture and time period of the Fire Nation. The short answer to this question is yes, because Ozai's levels of narcissism don't permit him to treat anyone else with propriety let alone care.
The long answer is that Ozai is the most powerful fire bender (at the time) in the world, and he's the Fire Lord's son. There's an element of perceived divinity to him that is evident in the way the audience, world, and his children view him. If one were to go into Ozai's mind, I doubt he would find fault in the burning of Zuko's face. Not even because he believes he can do what he wants, but because he believed it was better for Zuko that he teaches him a lesson in that way.
We don't really get the chance to see Ursa and Ozai interact in the show, but the way he talks about her on The Day of Black Sun speaks volumes. He explains her disappearance to Zuko matter-of-factly: Ursa commited treason, so she had to go.
In short, the family dynamics and hierarchies of the Fire Nation Royal Family are inherently abusive, so we don't need to know much about Ozai and Ursa's marriage to determine that it was toxic at the least.
I finished rebels nearly a week ago. It took me a while to finish cause i had to study. and then i finished it but i couldnt write. now i can write, finally.
First of all, i loved this show. I loved the chracters and the story so much.
Art style is different than clone wars clone wars art style is my favorite but rebels art style was good too. In the beggining i didnt like both art style but in time i fell in love with them. In time both of these art styles improved so much and i like the way they ended.
Rebels, bad batch(a little), Ahsoka(a little) and Avatar:tla Spoilers
I love our space family. their relationship with eachother is so good. I loved kanan hera ezra sabine zeb chopper they were all such good written characters.
Episodes were fun. seeing rebels try to make galaxy a better place and save galaxy from the empire is what ı wanted bad batch to be when i was watching bad batch s1. but they were all tired and wanted to give omega a better life than a life with war and ı understand that.(everything comes back to tbb these days ı cant help it😅 ) after bad batch, seeing rebels trying to manage making galaxy a better place and being a family is so nice to watch.
Now i am going to write about last season's last episodes. There was so much more I could write, but I forgot most of it because I watched it a week ago. I took notes of the parts that stuck out to me in the last episodes and I want to write somethings about them.
I really liked Kanera they were so good together i shipped them from the beginning but hey didnt get a happy ending and i am so sorry about that but they have a son he was cute.
Kanan and Ezra fulfilled their destiny. And it is sad that we had to saw master and padawan sacrificing themselves for their loved ones. I wish we could have saw more of them happy with their family but they were meant to sacrifice themselves.🥹
And Ezra had to let go of his master it was too painful to watch. He could save his master, but at the same time he couldn't. But at least he saved Ahsoka.
I wanted Kallus to have a character development like Zuko. Well he did but i thought he was going to go more adventures with the family. I am sorry that he didnt spend more time with the family but i love him and his character development.
Gregor died.I loved him. It is so sad to see clones die.It breaks my heart i hope we wont see more clone deaths.I love clones so much.
I am watching star wars for the first time in chronological order (ı am now watching empire strikes back) ı havent seen ahsoka yet but i saw some spoilers. From what i understand ahsoka and sabine is try to bring back ezra. It makes sense ahsoka is like rebels s5 but I wish they had made it animation as the 5th season of Rebels.(i like animations more).But I don't have any prejudgment and I'm sure I'll love Ahsoka too.
And finally,
Kanan saw Hera one last time as he sacrificed himself, right? I didn't get it wrong.
That Storming Book
(Way of Kings re-read)
Dalinar paraphrases “journey before destination” in this chapter when talking to Sadeas, and there are themes of “life before death” elsewhere in their conversation. Dalinar admits to getting the “journey before destination”-type quote from the in-world Way of Kings.
Reading that passage right now, it occurs to me to check if Nohadon was a Radiant.
Yes, I remember the huge jump he makes in one of the visions, but I honestly interpreted that as dream logic, not him being a surgebinder. Most of the notes on the wiki about Nohadon’s abilities reference extra-text resources, not books in the canon. I’m happy to believe that he was a Bondsmith, even if it makes it more annoying that Dalinar never truly got to meet him.
While I don’t think Nohadon is much like Bumi (from avatar:tla), they do have the jumping-from-great-heights in common, plus being treated as super wise and admirable by their respective media. Even if they’re not cut from the same cloth, they definitely would get along well.
Haven’t had much to say about the last few chapters. I have something in my drafts about feeling like Sigzil is more a piece of distinctly carved furniture than a character in this book. Despite reading on the wiki about everything he does in the Rosharan books, I’m gonna double down on that take (for now).
Sigzil has a lot to say and adds a lot of contextual information, but while he tells us about Roshar (and a little about himself), he doesn’t take actions that are specific to himself and also move the story forward.
Even at this point in WoK, Rlain is more of a ~character~ than Sigzil. Rlain is (obviously) different than the rest of Bridge Four, but he also presents an ongoing conflict for Kaladin. Sigzil mostly retreats into the background chorus of the bridge crew.
Teft has an arc through future books, Dabbid has a future arc, Rock has an arc. Lopen grows his arm back, but I’m not sure that counts.
But for the most part Skar, Sigzil, Drehy, Hobber, and Leyten are interchangeable background characters to me. I know they have their own characteristics and backstories, but I struggle to remember any of them taking any plot-relevant actions that only that individual with their specific background and personality would take.
And that’s honestly fine! Books can only (comfortably) handle so many distinct characters. Like a fictional equivalent to the Dunbar number.
This is all a long winded defense of why I didn’t recognize Nomad as Sigzil.
And I even have face blindness in the books I read.
Having positive examples of angry girls/women that show you can be imperfect and yes moody/angry is so so so important because it shows despite the idea of what a "good girl" should be women/girls can still be allotto be angry and not be vilified by tje narrative.
Same with Sokka going from having misogynistic traits but growing to be a better person despite his introduction
The thing about Katara is that she was angry.
She was angry that the Fire Nation killed her mother.
She was angry that her father left them.
She was angry that she was the only Waterbender left in the south pole.
She was angry that the only person her age was her brother, who constantly disregarded her interests and her role in the tribe.
She was angry that what little waterbending she knew, had to be self-taught and how she struggled with that.
she was angry that a twelve year old instantly picked up what had taken her a long time to learn.
she was also angry that her tribe wanted to kick that twelve year old into the wilderness over a mistake.
she was angry over the earth-benders the fire nation had captured and put into a metal box.
she was angry.
And she knew she was angry.
Because she knew her own anger, she was the first to empathize with Aang when he got angry.
And it was because of it she could tell Aang forcing himself to lock his emotions up was not the answer.
Because she knew her own anger, she kept herself under control in the dessert, when everyone else was a mess.
Her anger empowered her. where anger was a tool of self-destruction for firebenders, for her it was what helped her push forward.
It was her anger that freed Aang.
It was her anger that helped her stand to Pakku.
Her anger was her strenght.
She was angry. And this was neither a mistake, nor a writing flaw.
Lemao Hassan!
It is she! The first, and leader, of the rejects! Lemao!!
Tumblr media
What's Her Backstory?
Lemao was never quite the popular girl. She was typically the type to keep to herself and sort of disappear in the crowds. But she never had as much of a problem as she did once she entered fifth grade. People began noticing her, and not in a way one would prefer. There are a thousand rumors surrounding what she's done to Jessica and Peggy for them to harbor such contempt and hatred for her. No ones quite sure what it was, but everyone knows the two hate her with a burning passion. Along with anyone bold enough to associate with Lemao.
What's She Like?
Lemao's always been fairly responsible, used to corralling her friends and family to a common goal. Most that don't know her very well often assume she's laid back, and in some ways that's true. But often her sense of loyalty finds her in trouble and riddled with anxieties from her circumstances. She's a big nerd of many things and often finds herself rabbit-holing for information out of a need to know things.
