The Conjuring (2013)

The Old Arnold Estate, located in Harrisville, R.I., is an authentic colonial home, circa 1736. Its paranormal past runs deep, as far back as the 1700’s housing spirits and a series of tragedies.

The paranormal phenomena was made famous by The Conjuring movie in 2013, a story based on the infamous acts of Bathsheba Sherman, believed to be a witch. She was accused of murdering a baby using a sewing needle and, after her death, her malevolent spirit supposedly haunted the house.

I've put a decidedly Halloween twist on my desk's right hand side, considering that the stores are putting all their pumpkins out. Bog Witch to Halloween Party City mode: Engage! (The shaky hand is a feature, not a bug.)

As we enter Scorpio season and begin to look more inwards, I thought I’d share how I like to cast my circles 🕯️🌖

I begin with west: I call upon the element of water🜄, as I take a sip of my tea, activating my sense of taste.

I follow with south: I call upon the element of fire🜂, as a light my candle, activating my sense of sight.

I continue with east: I call upon the element of air🜁, as I burn some herbs and stone pine, activating my sense of smell.

I finish with north: I call upon the element of earth🜃, as I ground myself holding a rock in my hand, activating my sense of touch.

Lastly, I call upon spirit ◯ (प्राण), as I hum the mantra Oṃ ॐ, activating my sense of hearing, and filling the space with vibrations from within me.

Because of my rather different set up in life at this time of living with my mother and starting off fresh with my wife, I wanted to make some posts about different ways to incorporate holiday ideas that may be more alternative, low energy, or mindful of other people's situations because everyone celebrates differently.

Topic: Activities

What we do for activities for celebrations can vary with what we have going on in our lives and what we can handle at the time. Some activity ideas may include:

Nature Walks

Visits to the pumpkin patch or apple orchard

Organizing something (clothes, apps on your phone, pantry, etc)

Be Creative

Learn about agriculture and the people/deities associated with it.

Support local artists and farmers

Play a video game associated with food or farming

Music and meditation/mindfulness

Gift giving

Look for recipes for the upcoming seasons
