Instead of May an October post: the closest thing to fireworks as this blog passed 100,000 followers. (I know some are probably deactivated and some are pornbots but still.) When I started many years ago I would never have imagined that so many people would want to see pictures of Pennsylvania’s modest beauties and life forms but it has been fun sharing it with you. 🧡❤️💛

Reflection of the day … Return of the Miccosukee Greenway pond - nature tends to win in the end. The pond dried up several years ago due to the damming of its source waters on behalf of a massive “small city” housing development that also required the razing of a multi-acre forest. The dam failed last winter - no surprise in swampy north Florida - causing the pond to refill and expand into the picnic park and across an athletic path. A small berm was built to protect the path. Other trails were rerouted. Birds are loving their restored habitat but the lost woodlands may take decades to return.
