I feel like Tara, Chad, and Mindy have all jokingly wished Sam a happy Father's Day at least once.
Post 6, Mindy goes "happy father's day to the only daddy I respect" and slaps Sam on the back.
Sam is really confused.
Chad is also confused - Mindy we have a dad? That's actually really disrespectful, why would you say that?
Tara is horrified.
(As a kid, Chad wishes Sam happy father's day because isn't she Tara's dad? She's always there for her and play sports with her and picks her up and spins her around and calls her champ, just like his dad does.)
(Tara never says happy father's day, or happy mother's day. As a kid, they would make cards in school, and Tara would always give them to Sam because she knew her parents wouldn't want them. As an adult, she finds quiet ways to celebrate. She'll make Sam take it easy for the day, order their favourite take out, watch whatever movie Sam wants to watch. There'll be cuddles and cheek kisses and endless gratitude for the person who raised her.)

the canon of dunmeshi makes it easy to imagine farcille with marcille as the perpetually pining party ready and willing to violate the most fundamental laws of nature for the woman she is utterly, irrevocably in love with. but.
the idea of marcille doing everything she does under the impression that falin is just her dearest most special friend that she loves with the normal platonic intensity of all girl besties while newly re-resurrected falin is shaking laios in their shared bedroom at the earliest opportunity trying to spark their two brain cells together to figure out if marcille, who she has been desperately crushing on since magic school, is actually in lesbians with her and just denser than a neutron star is infinitely funnier so that's the version of reality i subscribe to
(to sweeten the pot this makes marcille being obsessed with romantic drama and effortlessly spinning a character study of chilchuck's wife based solely on two sentences, her knowledge of him as a co-worker, and the power of her own delusions so much funnier too. too busy working that maxed out delusion stat on her unfortunate partymates to look inward for two seconds)

One of my all time favorite things about Agents of SHIELD season 1 is Skye's 2013 time capsule outfits.

Got any Tamber headcanons? :3

you know i do!
they met when tara was seven and amber was six, right before tara was held back a year again. they were waiting for their parents together on the sidewalk, sitting side by side, not really talking but fidgeting and smiling at each other from time to time. tara saw amber pull a psp out and start playing a game she was interested in, and amber, noticing it, asked if she wanted to play, as well. time didn't seem to pass after that; they waited for hours before sam finally got out of class and amber's parents finally remembered they had a daughter to pick up, and parted with waves and smiles, not even knowing each other's names.
they become best friends, though, after tara's parents divorce and she's held back another year. the kids bully her because tara's older but she's smaller and why is she studying with them? is she stupid? and amber beats the hell out of a kid that says that loud enough for tara to hear. after that, they're stuck to each other like glue.
tara dictated everything she did based on amber's wants and needs. not necessarily because amber required her to, no, but because she felt she needed to in order to keep her close. amber loved it, though.
their first sleepover is after sam doesn't come to pick tara up for the sixth consecutive time after class. amber always waited for sam to show up before she walked home, not wanting to leave her friend alone; after three hours watching the street, she stood up, stretching her hand out for tara to hold. come on, she said, you're sleeping at mine's today.
(it becomes a daily thing. they never ask their parents about it — no one cares, in reality. they're all too far gone into work and alcohol to care.)
amber was always kind of bossy, even before she lost her mind. she always took the lead in their friend group, and despised if anyone tried to prove her wrong. tara's admiration for her stemmed from that at first – that, and the fact amber protected her, amber stayed with her.
so, she didn't care if amber was a little aggressive sometimes. she didn't care if there were things her best friend wouldn't let her do. she thought that was what love was about.
when sam left? tara called her in tears, locked inside her room, scared out of her mind because her mother wouldn't stop yelling at her like it was her fault and she had broken the kitchen's glass table in rage. amber talks her through her panic attack on the phone, and promises her she'll let her stay for the rest of the week, if tara wants to.
(she was so glad sam left, so glad her biggest competition was gone. she could never tell tara, though.)
amber hates wes. we all know that. it all started when they were fourteen and wes called her out for not letting tara befriend a new kid from their class, simply because she was jealous. he said it didn't make sense and that tara wasn't her property. she all but needed to prove him wrong.
because tara was hers. only hers.
their first kiss happens when they're fifteen, sleeping over at amber's, a slasher playing on the background. i could elaborate but i'll leave that for a separate post, maybe :3
tara gave amber the necklace after said first kiss. she knew it was a gift her father apparently wanted to be given to her when she was fifteen, something he bought years before the divorce and told christina to wait for her sweet quinces. tara couldn't bear the idea of keeping it, instead wanting to give it a new meaning. something that could symbolize maybe, just maybe, amber was hers as much as she was (undoubtedly) amber's.
they never really dated. it was complicated. they were so much for each other but never verbalized nor made it official – for everyone, it was only "tara's amber" and "amber's tara", if that makes sense.
okay so. amber dies. it's complicated. we don't know how much she actually felt. this thought plagues tara forever.
when she goes to bed, she sees amber's eyes. hears her voice. feels her touch. it's all too much, it has always been too much, but now tara simply doesn't know how to handle it.
she doesn't sleep. she doesn't eat. she fears the possibility of seeing her in the shadows, and once she does see her, it's like a ghost keeping her soul trapped to amber's.
the voice talks to her. it tells her things she always wanted to hear, and things she never wanted to think about. how much she meant to amber. (you were supposed to be my perfect opening kill, baby.) how much amber wanted to be with her. (if only you had let me finish this. we could be together. forever.)
tara hates that she loves loved amber. hates the idea of ever having missed her. she misses her.

I'm really curious about the 6 month period before they left for New York (and also the months after they moved but that's for another ask). Scream 5 follow up comic tie in when.
In all the chaos it's possible (and probably even likely) that nobody hired crime scene cleaners for the Carpenter house, so Sam and Tara might've gone home to blood everywhere.
There's also the fact that Christina had to have come home eventually (or at least I sincerely hope she did), and I can't imagine she was too thrilled about Sam staying there.
So Sam n Tara either
1. Just cleaned the Carpenter house and stayed there
2. Got a hotel
Or
3. Went back to wherever Sam lived in Modesto
Do you have any thoughts about what the events immediately after 5 were like?
Sorry this took 3 days, it's a very interesting thing to think about!!
In my head they've always gone back to the Carpenter house. It's big and full of comforts (and free), and Sam probably thinks Tara needs familiarity and home to heal.
Sam's not even thinking about their mother who isn't even here. She'll deal with her when she shows up, she thinks.
Sam's discharged from the hospital before Tara, but she stays in Tara's room most of the time, with the occasional trip back to the motel to wash and get changed. The day before Tara's due to be discharged, Sam packs up her things from the motel and dumps them in her car, and checks out.
She takes Tara home, and they are immediately greeted by a crime scene.
There's blood everywhere and Tara is frozen looking at the trail across the floor to the door where she had dragged herself.
Sam feels so stupid, how could she have forgotten?!
She steps around in front of her to block Tara's view, and cups her cheeks to get her attention and tells her to close her eyes. She picks Tara up and takes her upstairs. She takes her to her room and gets her comfortable and tells her she's going to fix this, she's going to clean downstairs. It'll be like nothing even happened, she tells her. (Tara takes those words to heart. They can make it like nothing ever happened.)
Tara's nervous, she doesn't want to be alone, but Sam reminds her she'll be just downstairs. She'll leave the doors open, if she needs her all she needs to do is yell, and Sam will respond.
Sam goes downstairs and gets on her hands and knees and scrubs. She cleans and cleans and fumes. This is her sister's blood, soaked into the foundations of this house. Occasionally Tara will yell out Marco, and Sam replies Polo.
Sam doesn't take Tara downstairs for days, not until she's bleached away the stains of what happened.
Sidenote, Tara's definitely in a wheelchair right? Like, her leg is busted, but because of her hand she can't use crutches, right? Like, single crutch walking involves placing it under the arm opposite to the damaged leg, and her damaged hand is her left but her damaged leg is her right.
I think they have a good few weeks until their mother shows herself. She didn't come back sooner because everything was fine, she saw it on the news herself. She stops by long enough to look Tara over and say "well you seem fine enough to me, I see your sister was exaggerating as usual." Sam screams at her mother and it feels just like old times, Tara feels 10 again. She closes her eyes. It's a little overwhelming, but it also feels nice. Like the last few years never existed at all. This was their normal.
When she opens her eyes again, her mother is gone, and Sam is sitting at the end of her bed blowing her hair out of her eyes and looking frustrated.
"Tell me a story?" Tara blurts out. Sam's surprised, and a little confused. "A story?"
"Yeah," Tara confirms. "A story. Anything. Tell me about where you've been, what you've been doing." She wiggles over to make room and Sam lies down beside her, and tells her a story.

Anyone else ever notice how many opportunities Amber had to kill Tara that she didn't take?
1. The opening attack. She very easily could've killed her. Her and Richie's goal of luring Sam back to Woodsboro would've still been achieved even if Tara was dead, and yet Amber doesn't kill her.
2. The hospital attack. Amber once again could've very easily killed Tara, but she doesn't. She drags out the attack, and doesn't even do any physical damage to her.
3. Right after shooting Liv. Once again, perfect chance to kill Tara, and yet she ties her up and puts her in the closet instead.
4. When Tara attacks her with the crutches. Amber could've killed her once she got the upper hand. But she doesn't, again. She incapacitates her instead.
We see Amber intentionally pass up opportunities to kill Tara four times. Instead, it feels like she's trying to get her away from the danger.
She's not protecting her, obviously, but it almost seems like she's convinced herself she is.

On record, Malkmus sounds like he’s talking when he sings, but he’s actually singing. His speaking voice is a few notches flatter in affect and even more devoid of emotion. He’s nearly impossible to read—“inscrutable” is Webster’s word for it—which is only compounded by his habit of looking away from you when he speaks. If you look up “laconic” in the dictionary, in some editions you’ll see his picture next to the definition: “concise to the point of seeming rude or mysterious.” He lolls about contentedly on the floor, but when he becomes aware I’m taking notes, he spins the conversation into verbal blind alleys.
