SpaceTime -- A brief history
SpaceTime is Australia’s most popular and respected astronomy and space science news program – averaging over two million downloads every year. We’re also number five in the United States. The show reports on the latest stories and discoveries making news in astronomy, space flight, and science. SpaceTime features weekly interviews with leading Australian scientists about their research. The show began life in 1995 as ‘StarStuff’ on the Australian Broadcasting Corporation’s (ABC) NewsRadio network. Award winning investigative reporter Stuart Gary created the program during more than fifteen years as NewsRadio’s evening anchor and Science Editor. Gary’s always loved science. He studied astronomy at university and was invited to undertake a PHD in astrophysics, but instead focused on his career in journalism and radio broadcasting. Gary’s radio career stretches back some 34 years including 26 at the ABC. He worked as an announcer and music DJ in commercial radio, before becoming a journalist and eventually joining ABC News and Current Affairs. He was part of the team that set up ABC NewsRadio and became one of its first on air presenters. When asked to put his science background to use, Gary developed StarStuff which he wrote, produced and hosted, consistently achieving 9 per cent of the national Australian radio audience based on the ABC’s Nielsen ratings survey figures for the five major Australian metro markets: Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, Adelaide, and Perth. The StarStuff podcast was published on line by ABC Science -- achieving over 1.3 million downloads annually. However, after some 20 years, the show finally wrapped up in December 2015 following ABC funding cuts, and a redirection of available finances to increase sports and horse racing coverage. Rather than continue with the ABC, Gary resigned so that he could keep the show going independently. StarStuff was rebranded as “SpaceTime”, with the first episode being broadcast in February 2016. Over the years, SpaceTime has grown, more than doubling its former ABC audience numbers and expanding to include new segments such as the Science Report -- which provides a wrap of general science news, weekly skeptical science features, special reports looking at the latest computer and technology news, and Skywatch – which provides a monthly guide to the night skies. The show is published three times weekly (every Monday, Wednesday and Friday) and available from the United States National Science Foundation on Science Zone Radio, and through both i-heart Radio and Tune-In Radio.

SUBMISSION STATUS
Ask box: Open
Submissions: Open
DMs: Open
Answers: Currently being drawn, next post after halowem is over
Next Fanmail Friday is: When I have enough
BLOG INFO AND RULES
Do not bring politics or arguments into my posts.
This blog will contain occasional crass behaviour. If you're not into that, you're not the target audience
Do not send hate or death threats
I will not tolerate bisexual or bi-umbrella erasure on this blog
I already have a "humanoid" concept in the works for the DJ
Magic anons are welcome, but they might have some unexpected results. They will also be queued unless you explicitly ask to be combined with a currently running magic anon.
I, the blog owner, will only accept ship asks/requests that come from people who are over the age of 18. If you are 18 years old by calendar, please take some time to ease into being 18 before you submit a ship ask or request.
Submitted ship asks should be visibly adult examples of their species. All ship asks should include a character sheet (or a link to a character sheet) so that I can verify your character is an adult.
Small and/or petite adults are permissible ONLY if they possess visible adult features or have an established character sheet (or wiki page if it's a canon character of some media) indicating they are an adult (character info will function as an ID to the ballroom).
Keep in mind that my headcanons might not align with yours.
This is not an official depiction of the DJ!!! I am not Shoocharu!!! There will always be a bit of OOC discrepancy between the character creator's ideas and a fan-blog's ideas.
I, the blog owner, am Australian. While I may post at what would qualify as "night hours" for me on occasion, I do have active hours that are incompatible with half the world.
Not every Anon Character is going to be humanoid. This IS the Interplanetary Ballroom, after all. If I think a design warrants it, I'll tag with an appropriate warning. If you would like your anon to be guaranteed human or messed up lil guy, let me know. If you're fine with letting fate decide, enjoy the ride.
Ask Box Status: Open, Anon activated
CHARACTER INFO AND RULES
The DJ is not bound by human constraints of gender or sexuality and is perfectly comfortable in literally any form they ever have and ever will take on.
The DJ is just as likely to flirt with a man as he is with a woman, as he is with a nonbinary individual, as they are with an otherworldly creature that doesn't adhere to human dimorphism, as they are with a living chair.
The DJ does not care which pronouns are used, but is currently partial to he/him and they/them when speaking to species with a human concept of gender
The DJ does not identify by any human flags or labels
The DJ is a relatively flirty and intrusively hands-on when it comes to social interaction. Hugs are always welcome
The DJ does not have an exclusive shipping partner on this blog. He's all about creating a good experience for all.
The DJ is a pretty nice dude all things considered, but please don't get on their bad side. You probably don't want them to kerfullaxle your perplexpleen.
The DJ loves to shapeshift and dress up. Suggestions are always welcome.

Confession: Hello guys, I was the one who submission about some abusive confessions sent over the years. I was mostly angry at all the hate "confessions" 5sos stans sent about an underage Rena. On twitter years ago grown adults would bully her, threaten physical violence against and even tell her to kill herself etc all in the name of "activism". It had gotten so bad she made her layout dark at one point and I was very worried. As a black person, her hair has never bothered me. Most of the people abusing her when white people pretending to act like "allies" towards us and tell us what is and isn't racist. That hairstyle was inspired by industrial/cyber goth culture which was very popular back in the 2000s in goth scene and I bet those horrible people don't even know about because they came from a world of pop music. Also I takes three seconds for them to google industrial goth fashion. I have some white industrial goth friends who wear similar hairstyles and none of them are racist. They're all very kindhearted sweet people with an epic taste in music, fashion and culture. That goth subculture has been popular since the late 90s and 2000s. By the way I've always loved that side of goth culture because industrial/cyber goth fashion looks so beautiful, badass and the music is awesome. I'm glad a couple of people who ran hate blogs about Cherri Bomb/Hey Violet apologized and I forgive them because they sounded very remorseful and sincere. Unfortunately one more person still runs a hate page. I confronted the person, especially about how badly Rena was treated and of course the person who runs that blog is crakkker and of course they placed the blame on an innocent child instead of placing the blame on the adults who bullied and threatened a child's life just so they can look like "political heroes" while they're a bunch of evil mean spirited political villains. I was very mad when they blame her like she was just a kid?? I also told them they sounded like a nazi, told them how performative they and that they're no "activist". Also told them to google industrial/cyber goth fashion, told them they're a pop music stan (although I love pop music but from the 80s and 2000s). Lastly I told them that 5sos sucks. Those 20 something year old white Australian men did absolutely nothing to defend her or her band. I've researched they did far worse things while in their early 20s too and barely was held accountable for it. Like always, males always get a slap on the wrist and are babied while women and young girls, especially in the industry suffer. I hate she had to apologize for having a hairstyle that's very common within the industrial goth world. Even another long time fan who's also black told her that she loved her threads and didn't need to apologize. When Rena said she was getting told to go kill herself it brought tears to my eyes. Imagine wanting to be a "political left wing activist" so bad you end up sounding just as vile, horrible and evil just like the nazis who identify as right wingers? I hope none of those people have kids of their own. Wanting to be appear like a so called "woke activist" give you no excuse to abuse kids, famous or not. Treating kids any kind of way breaks my heart so much, it's just as bad as animal abuse. I guess that's why we barely have child stars nowadays because throughout history, child stars like Shirley Temple and Judy Garland have been abused so kind of way by nasty abusive adults. I really wish Cherri Bomb/Hey Violet never met that garbage boy band because as much as some rock and metal fans can be annoying at times, pop stans can be very very awful people, especially when it comes to boy bands. Just wanted to add that Julia Pierce is now a goth dj. They all moved on from their teen years and other people should move on too. Also I'm very happy that the other hate pages got deleted while two sincerely apologized. Long confession but this is just something I wanted to speak out about. 🖤
#submission#since this is long i'm just going to post it as is#rena lovelis#female fronted bands confessions

"whose personal assistant liked a hate post about Louis' voice, a man who's besties with that australian host who called his ex-bandmate (and to them it's worse, husband) a rat on radio"
Do you not fact check anything? Or do you just believe everything Sea makes up?? 🤣🤣🤣
Ryan Wohlmegut is not Harry's personal assistant. He's a stylist who sometimes assists the stylist Harry Lambert. And Ash London, the DJ that Louis and his fans bullied, did not call Louis a rat. She said he had a ratty beard, meaning an unkempt beard.
You're right, she didn't call Louis a rat, just that he has a ratty beard bc that's soooo much better 😭. She also agreed with that ugly DJ who called him the least popular one and not Hrry Styles. So that man is ok with people bullying his ex-bandmates on radio using his name AND he rewards that behavior, being besties with them and publicly saying he attended their wedding. My point still stands with that ugly Ryan, he's still an assistant stylist on that man's team, he's involved in the styling of that ugly pleasing brand too. In conclusion, if you want to be in Hrry Styles good books, feel free to insult Louis anyway you want. The fact that larries ship Louis with someone like this makes me sick. Now get out of my blog, freak

Week 14: Beetroot, Bets, and Beats
G’day folks,
It's been yet another week of primarily studying. However, spending time on campus has its perks. The food selection right outside the library amazes me, particularly the cafe outside the lower food court. Sweet potato and beetroot salad have become my favorite dish.
I’ve also found a deep love for the horse blinder-style cubicles in the back on the 2nd floor of the Main Library. They have a warm, bright light that falls on a rich green pattern. They also have the perfect width and depth to spread out your elbows and computer for any position you're inspired to pose in. I think it's obvious where I spend most of my time these days.
If schoolwork didn’t feel like enough, another concern I’ve been managing is how I will spend my summer. On Wednesday, I spent nearly the entire day on LinkedIn and in professors’ research, and then I cold-emailed them for work or research opportunities this summer.
I’ve found ways to break up the work this week, or instead, my friends have successfully dragged me out of my studying stupor several times for a change of scenery. On Thursday, my roommate Sam’s family invited us to their Airbnb for dinner and card games. They were visiting for the week and wanted to meet all the kids that have traveled and lived with their daughter. The hours passed quicker than they had in the past two weeks as we all reminisced on the months of travel and late nights that had brought us all so much closer than I think any of us could have imagined.
On Saturday, I had the first blog-worthy day since Vietnam! We met Sam’s parents at Sydney’s Australian Turf Club (horse derby). The track and stadium are across from the UNSW campus and are a weekly spectacle. It was all our first derbies, so we put on the nicest clothes we owned (another first) and jauntily strolled through the gates. Then, far off in the distance, a man started energetically waving at us to exit and go around. We had walked along the driveway leading into the stadium, which was about a kilometer from the walking entrance. Anyway, we made it and had a blast people-watching. It felt like we had stumbled upon the high society of Sydney. Everyone was wearing suits and dresses and perceptive glances.
We spent the day placing paper bets with the best names on the horses and enjoying the first sun of the week. We left towards the end of the derby and headed home for a nap. That night, we went out to Club 77 because people online were framing it as the best club in Sydney. It felt underground, but for a reason: the music was uninteresting, with the same few beats repeated for minutes that felt like hours. We left before we could sink any more time into that place and decided to try out Scary Canary.
This club/bar had the best DJ I've ever heard at that place, and time had never flown by so quickly. Afterward, we all unanimously felt it was the best club we had been to; it's just a shame that we discovered it so late into our trip.
Thank you all for reading! I’ve got one last week of studying and submitting assignments before heading to Thailand.
Take care,
Grant Touchette

finally tokyo
my last few days in tokyo were spent with friends. first day i joined my classmates at the yayoi kusama museum, to be honest i’m not a huge fan of her work but i enjoy any gallery experience regardless of which work is being shown. I especially enjoyed the polka dot room that you were shut inside for a minute or two. i was lucky enough to experience it on my own so i just sat on the polka dot couch and pondered hahah. during my last days in tokyo i opted to take the bus most places as i wanted to see the city and was a little over trains, i’m so glad i did this as i became much more familiar with my surroundings than i would of if i had travelled by subway, the slow journeys were also very meditative. that night i got dressed up for group karaoke and made my way to shibuya, by bus of course. one thing i didn’t factor in when picking my outfit was creepy men and i was unfortunately aproached while i was alone outside the karaoke place. it was an older japanese man, speaking japanese and looking me up and down, he was obviously trying to buy my time which made me feel disgusting. i ran away but the damage had been done and i felt really anxious and gross for the rest of the night. the sex culture is very strange in japan. it’s so repressed yet so overt. love hotels are everywhere and very obvious when they have huge signs saying however much yen per hour, sex toys are in stores like don quijote next to children’s toys, host clubs and maid cafes are promoted everywhere and many of the anime stores have very questionable sexualised merchandise of underage cartoon characters. it’s hard to ignore and frankly it’s gross. as a woman i felt very uncomfortable with the sex culture in japan. the same night i was approached by that man me and my friend where walking back to our hotel when two men jumped out in front of our path and tried to get us to go with them, of course we just kept walking but that night was probably the most unsafe i have felt in japan.
i started my next day with a walk through the meiji jingu gardens. it was raining a lot that day so it was very muggy and sticky. as i walked the gardens i noticed alot of the trees had strange funnels leading down from their trunks to their roots, it almost looked like they had robotic tenticles. i found it super interesting and inspiring and i took multiple photos for future art reference. i once again visited harajuku and shibuya and ended up spending alot of money on some very funky shoes. the brand is called “grounds” and i bought them at “sheep” in laforet, they have huge bubbles on the soles and i love them, i don’t know what else to say. after i’d bought those i visited a store in shibuya called “radd lounge”, they carried small designers including some from melbourne. the store owner was so kind and he told me he’s had lots of australian visitor’s recently. i ended up buying a bag with aphex twin’s face on it and the owner ended up taking my photo and posting it on his blog. later that day i joined my friends for a very tasty dinner at an indian restaurant before going back to shibuya to a bar inside a church. the bar aptly named “church” had nun bartenders, pews for seats and a dj under the cross. smoking was allowed inside and the drinks were unbelievably cheap so we ended up having a great time. i love church decor/architecture so it was really quite inspiring too. after the day was done my phone reported that i had done 30,000 steps in the last 24 hours... i slept well that night.
my last full day in tokyo (what i thought was my last full day) started with a visit to a market in marunochi. i ended up splurging a little and buying lots of little trinkets, including a big vintage metal bell and two awesome bug prints. after the market i took my friends to omotesando/harajuku and showed them all the cool galleries and store’s i’d found, the shop assistants in radd lounge and sheep both recognised me and said hello hahha. i didn’t do much else that day as i was pretty exhausted
