you know whats so insane ab the movie. is that lea says: “i knew from the moment i met you, you were the one” to poe in a romantic way AND THEN. and then. and then landor LITERALLY says that exact same thing at the end: “you were the one who i was to deliver myself too all along, i knew that from the moment i first met you, and here we are.” AND YOU EXPECT ME NOT TO INTPRET THAT AS THE GAYEST THING EVER ??

wooo!!! painting for a novel and movie that has no fandom AAAAAAAHHHHHHFHGHRGSJ. but its okay. just pretend they are ocs guys. anyways the pale blue eye fixation has not ended! thought it certainly tried too but i am gripping that shit like it stole my fucking lunch money okay. i love them. umm i really recommend this movie and book i cant stop drawing them. whenever i get to my sketchbook tour you guys will see how bad it is 😭😭 but anyways. oh also big artist thing!! a new sketchbook was started, yesterday actually!! so im planning my sketchbook tour soon :)

I watched The Pale Blue Eye this week and have been having thoughtful thoughts ever since. Mainly about how much Landor has a soft spot for Poe and how that specifically made me have a soft spot for the film. And how Poe being a drama nerd made me giggle every time i'm alone.

The Pale Blue Eye

Honestly, I expected so much more from this movie.

Why using a character called Edgar Allan Poe when you know in real life he hasn’t lost his mother and the woman from his book is called Annabel Lee, and not Lea. 

Also, when the characters say they are speaking French, please speak French correctly. It was just horrible to watch them slaughter the language of Molière.

Christian Bale’s wig was terrible. 

Nevertheless, the one think I liked about the movie was the acting performance of Harry Melling: stunning. 

Some quotes:

- “The air of concealed violence. Unspeakable duress. An unknown woman. I do consider death to be poetry’s most exalted theme. “Glorious look to him. He’d almost have to die young, wouldn’t he?” (Poe)

- “There is a very disturbing pattern here, Poe. Men who cross you end up on the wrong end of a noose with rather important organs carved from their chests. I believe that you should take better care of what you say and do.” (Augustus Landor)

- “Sacrifice is the ultime expression of love.” (Poe)

watching pale blue eye for the millionth time but . god

im just thinking about how heart wrenching it must have been for poe after he realized landor was the murderer, especially when you consider the scene with poe and landor after landor lectures him about lying about knowing leroy fry (the one i love with poes little head shakes). landor says “did you kill leroy fry?!” and “there is a very disturbing pattern here poe. men who cross you on end up on the wrong end of a noose…” but he KNOWS it wasnt poe. and when poe realizes this its gotta hurt so bad knowing landor interrogated and hurt him like he did in that scene KNOWING it wasnt poe who killed them. i already understood the prized fool line but now i get it more oh my lord.

and some of it was definitely from landor thinking maybe he had stole leroys heart, but still!!! landor is so harsh it hurts me so bad
