2025 Audio Fiction Convention
AuFiCon is almost upon us! For those that don't know, AuFiCon is a virtual community event hosted by the Podcast Book Club. Panels will be run over Twitch, with our Discord server hosting most everything else. The con is scheduled on a 24-hour basis to accommodate as many timezones as possible (with the schedule above listed in GMT), and events will be recorded for those that can't catch the live panels.
If you'd like to pick up a free ticket, you can do so on our EventBookings page, with the option to upgrade to a donation ticket if you'd like.
Additionally, we'd like to announce that we will be hosting an equipment giveaway during the convention! We here at the PBC are deeply appreciative of the opportunities we've been given through starting this community, and wish to give back to members who otherwise may not have access to podcasting equipment. One winner will receive a RODE NT-USB+ microphone and PSA 1+ studio boom arm. To enter:

Finally, we are organizing a trailer event to showcase new, upcoming, and well-loved audio dramas during the convention. 2025 Virtual Audio Fiction Convention Updates
Hello, friends in our computers!
We're sweeping in with some very exciting updates and information regarding the convention, so please hang tight for the long post ahead as we've got a lot of ground to cover.
Firstly, if you're unfamiliar with the premise, AuFiCon is an online community event hosted by your favorite community organization, the PBC ;). Running via a combination of Twitch for the panels and our Discord server for most everything else, the con is scheduled on a 24-hour basis to accommodate timezones, and will be free to attend given that you have access to the aforementioned platforms.
Tickets can be reserved now via our EventBookings page HERE, and again are free, with the option to donate if you'd like! All funds go directly back into the bookclub, and support is of course always appreciated. Once you've secured a ticket, you'll receive an email confirmation with further details and relevant links, such as the invite to our Discord server if you're not already a member.
Further details—panel topics, guest speakers, scheduling etc—will continue to be shared as we get closer to the event, & if you have any questions before then, you can reach us via email ([email protected]) or server tickets on Discord.

02 January Updates from the Server 🎉
Hey friends, hope everyone is having a safe and wonderful start to the year! I've got a couple updates and the like to share:
Firstly, some of you may remember Leona @anotherdayanotherobsession and her anti-AI audio tool from last spring. The project has hit its evaluation phase, so here's some info from her + the link to the first study!:
"We're starting off with a small study on the imperceptibility of different noise levels, I'll give me important data on what level noise is acceptable for general usage in the audio drama community and beyond! Please feel free to share this with other people you know, especially those who are involved in voice/sound-related creative work."
You can find the study here. :)
Speaking of surveys, we here at the bookclub also have one we'd appreciate your responses on! Changing things in the server and across various projects can be a bit of a guessing game on our part, so we've decided to try and gather member feedback periodically. This survey is anonymous, and covers topics ranging from your personal activity level in the server to your thoughts on the server's ticketing system. We'd appreciate a minute of your time if you'd complete that survey here as well!
In the realm of all things AuFiCon, we're nearing the "running around like chickens with our heads cut off" phase of the planning, but things are coming together nicely if a bit stressfully. Within the next week to week and a half, we should have a finalized schedule out with some graphics/promotional posters to share around, so keep an eye out for that.
Happy listening, all!

19 December PBC Updates
Hi folks! Hope the holiday season is treating all y'all who celebrate well - here in the bookclub, we've got a few updates & reminders heading into the weekend to leave you with.
Firstly, the mod team will be out of office this upcoming week, from the 22 December to the 29th for the holidays. We'll still be reachable if there are any emergencies, but standard activity - tickets, emails etc - aren't guaranteed a response until the following week. (Please don't burn the place down while we're gone /lh)
Second - AuFiCon panelists, if you haven't already read the 16/12 email from us, please do so ASAP. It contains the current event schedule, along with some other info/links we'd like for you to know.
Attendees, the first of the year is looking to bring a lot of exciting news about the con, please hang tight! And, until then, remember that now is a great time to pick up a ticket :)
Happy holidays, & happy listening, all! 🎄

In case you missed it, be sure to check out Leona's project!! She could really use some more responses at this phase of the study - it should take you 5-10 minutes, and just requires listening to a series of audio clips. Again, you can find the study & further information here. 🫶
If you send proof of a completed form to [email protected] along with your Tumblr username, we'll give you an extra entry into the equipment giveaway during AuFiCon :)
