' her hands clutch together, and gripped in between them, a movie showing ticket. anybody could make a good guess as to what she wants to ask, but it's a little awkward for her, nonetheless --- not for as long as she felt that she didn't quite wholly grasp or understand the personality of the boy in front of her. ' um, action movies ... do you like them? ' her cheeks flush; blaze red a little, but her voice only toughens, maintaining a steady, audible volume. ' i asked my other friends if they wanted to go, but nobody was interested or had the time. watching something like this doesn't feel as much fun as having someone to talk about it with, so ... ' her arms thrust the ticket out towards him. not unlike someone making a sharp stab at kendo or fencing. ' don't joke, okay? it's a free ticket. if you say you're going to go, then you'd better show up. '

HIS SCREEN TURNS OFF WITH A CLICK , a conversation -well, more of a debate- with Ootsuki that went on a little too long, going back on forth about some solutions for ...  little inconveniences that encountered him at school. A particular topic about whether or not it'd be fine if he took some asshole's shoes and threw them in the sewer for threatening another student who has been really nice to Shou- it goes on for so long before Shou realizes maybe he shouldn't be asking Ootsuki for good advice to begin with. 

Speaking of good advices, Shou muses fondly while acknowledging Riku with a simple smile. And it's the mention of one of his favorite genres that makes him visibly perk up. " 'Course I do. " He has a deep liking for thrillers the most, he keeps that detail for himself, though, vaguely aware of how much is sharing vs oversharing in this time, setting and conversation at hand. In this flimsy sense of friendship that hasn't fully solidified into something stronger & confident yet. It's either Riku has a really hot tempter, or that he's being a bad kind of asshole without realizing it. It's most likely the later, given how Ootsuki called him that just earlier this morning- but the former can't be entirely of question either, right ? 

" You want me to come along ?  " He sounds confused and somewhat amused, maybe about being such an afterthought ( but a thought, nonetheless ) , or how she looked like she just needed a little training and it'd be enough to kick his ass, or how nice she's being despite the vaguely threatening attitude. His confusion softens away, leaving place for something relaxed and eager. If anything, he now knows there is no one better than Riku whom he could enjoy watching actions movies with.

" Sweet, I'll be there. " He snatches the ticket from her hands as quick as she has offered it to him, inspecting the small paper for the details. And what's up with questioning his honesty ?  He wasn't that kind of asshole. She's gotta pay for that. And so he feigns concern, corners of his lips falling dramatically. " Man, we're gonna have a real hard time -  " He pockets the ticket & his hands, turning back to Riku with the laziest little smirk on his lips. "  - making this look like anything but a date.  "

Another botched transformation. Another moment with Dark having to take control of Daisuke's feeble little teenage body. In the middle of school, no less! This was beyond annoying.

His adorable companion wasn't here, so no calling in an imposter Daisuke to cover for him. He just had to hope that no one noticed how Daisuke was different today. Which would have been fine, had he not run into--

"Hiwa-- Hiwatari-kun!" He forced himself to acknowledge the nerd as jovially as possible. But DAMN if he didn't want to punch that cheeky bastard right in his stupid fucking Hikari nose.

" she responds without so much as a glance in his direction. she was busy with her chores and she would not allow someone to speak to her in such a way as that. she was more than just some pigeon that could be sent to fetch things at a whim! but still... she cannot just turn herself away completely. she knows first hand how painful such isolation could be. she herself had moments when she thought to guide souls to her own nest just for a brief respite against the isolation of her tower. but she had the fortune of knowing that things would work out and her patience rewarded with time.

a gentle sigh escaped her as she finished dusting off the last frame of some artwork the Niwa's claimed years before she joined the collection. " there is plenty about humans that are interesting. much that you may have missed in your... eagerness... for new friends. " she says gently, lilac eyes slowly turning towards the mirror. " each one has their own favorite things and hated things. they have their own unique styles and personalities. a girl may like to get rough and take a hands on approach while her mirrored twin may prefer to be gentle and let others do the heavy work for her. sometimes humans share traits in ways unexpected and the same could even be said about some of us, too. "

She had been meaning to make use of this particular spot ever since she'd noticed it: a spill of nature washing over the edge of town, various hues of green all the more vivid against rust and cracked asphalt. Her trekking pole clangs against the low stone wall as she hoists herself up, careful not to bend her compressed knee too much.

"You're a natural. What would I caption this... effortlessly cool?" Her face scrunches up. "Ew, no, way too generic. Hmm... how would you describe yourself?"

' hey - hey , zola ... ' even from within the mirror, rokuto leans a little inwards. his elbows press against the glass, and with his cheeks turning red a little, he grins at her. ' so, out there ... is there anybody that you like? ' she could tell him. she had to tell him! ' you can trust me to keep it a secret, so spill it! please! i'm so curious, i'm dying to know! '

The brunette sat in front of the mirror with a blink, even tilting her head at the art piece. "Rokuto what's up?" Then his question came out - it caused the magi to blush before raising her hands.

"E-eh.. Eh..?? You.. you mean like how friends are? I got plenty for them my best friend when we were kids, o-or do you mean like a family? My brother and our parents.. or do you mean how my parents are with each other?" Oh she was rambling hard still she held her knees together with a sigh. "I.. I really don't know, I read about that kind of stuff in books so I can't tell."

STROLLING THE MUSEUM WITH DAISUKE was always a fun time, with the child telling lindenbaum stories about the artworks around. while she was not sure how such a young boy knew so much about such things, she was the last person to question his knowledge. she figured that it had something to do with his ' other half, ' as dark had phrased it. getting distracted by a sparkling tiara, she rolled away from the babbling boy without thinking, drawn in by its exquisite shimmer. shaking palms reached out to pick up the object from its pedestal, a playful grin spreading across her complexion as she placed it atop her head.

" hehe, i'm the queen of all witches ................. " she whispered under her breath, a childish side of her coming out, which was a rare thing indeed. she didn't want daisuke to hear her, let alone anyone else. she didn't like showing those desires very often, the childhood she wished she could have had.

a sudden voice calling out to her made lindenbaum jolt out of her daydream, gripping tightly onto the tiara ( or in this case, @audienceled ?? a woman's voice ? ) to keep from dropping it. it took her a long time to realize that it was the shimmering object in her hands that was speaking to her.

" first, the animals spoke, and now this .................. am i going insane, or are you actually talking to me ? "

' satoshi says it with the hush of someone imploring mercy. upon themselves, upon the other, well-hidden frustrations mingling with an exasperated fatigue. he recognizes, perhaps, the name suzuki toichiro better than he does suzuki shou, in bureaucracy files and brazen public declarations, both equal strangers at a personal level. the names and reputations of sons followed their fathers and it's why satoshi too was a hiwatari before a hikari, the tall, ominous black shadow of a man who proclaimed love but fostered only hate always looming out, over him, heavy and choking as a cursed white.

' none of this is a game, ' hiwatari says, and it's almost funny how the words he's used trying to defend himself in front of that domineering black obelisk becomes something in his hands trying to stop and bar the other from becoming a pitiful son. ' i already know who you are. ' boy who was supposed to inherit a sickening empire. all the world, its glory and power, yet none of its love. hiwatari does not say any of this. ' you don't want to end up like your father, making mistakes and causing messes for everyone while you do what you think is right. '

STRAY PENCIL TWIRLS IN HIS HAND, short and worn out by bite marmarks on one end. In hindsight, the Hiwatari and his power and knowledge mean what Shou assumes to be bad news. The Suzuki is supposed to start "a new life", after all, or whatever his mother and the government agenst were talking about. But he's always believed such a thing as a new life wouldn't be as simple as moving towns and playing with some legals things on a paper. Even if he were to go as far as changing his name and looks, nothing can change the fact that he's his father's son. And that fact will always make itself a burden, and that burden will always weigh on his shoulders. 

What's a new life if he can still remember ? If he can still tell how the hands on his shoulders and the hands around his throat were the same ? 

" UGH ... about time someone's figured it out ! "  Exaggerated frustration quickly turns into a bright smile as he turns to face his classmate, a smile that friends usually offer each other in congratulations or encouragement, when they've done something particularly impressive. He knows when his secrets are being weaponized against him, and he is having none of it.  " What was it ? The name ? The red hair ? Maybe I should learn to be a little more impulsive and dye it like I've been thinking. "  He goes on talking merrily, taking leisurely steps around like it would just kill him to stand in one place and be perceived for 5 seconds. " Good job either way, great detective, " Three short claps feel necessary as he pauses, maintaining eye contact. " Or should I say Commander ? " 

It's not like he can be proud for finding out himself. This whole thing feels like it should be common knowledge but it doesn't seem like it. It's a middle schooler leading a police department for fuck's sake. But either way, Shou doesn't care about that, it's none of his business. What he cares about is that this middle schooler, who's essentially a cop, has the audacity to order him around.  

" How's it going for ya ? Caught any bad guys recently ? Any pity lawbreakers ? "  The words are light with sarcasm, tight as he holds back a condescending laugh, but the bite behind makes itself clear, sharp and unsettling white. Pencil assisting the taunt as he points while talking.  “ Maybe a few pickpockets while turning your eyes away from bigger problems you can't do shit about. ”

That's where his act ends, smile slipping away, allowing the ever present chill of his eyes to get even more prominent, and it doesn't help how he stares. If the right people were to do their right job ... ( and if his mother cared enough, if law enforcers weren't greedy bastards, if the people forced into claw weren't so cowardly ... ) would it have been enough to left the burden from his shoulders ?  He has always wondered, but wondering led nowhere. At the end he did it all because he had to.  Because no one else would. Because they were all cowards. And for a long time, he was a coward, too. But not anymore. 

" You don't get to tell me what to do. " The shake of his head and glare on his features speak of disappointments and nauseated grudges. A cold, dismissive finality.  " Doing what I think is right has never failed me. I know it won't. Because I'm nothing like him, I never was and I'll never be. "
