u guys liked my yokai watch au a lot more than i thought u guys would ?? holy shit?? thank u guys sm ??

as promised though here’s yuu (+ grim!!) :D

As mentioned before, Yuu and Grim are both yokai in this au !!

Yuu is the ghost of a young aspiring photographer who mysteriously died in his teens. Back when he was alive, he considered Grim to be a mischievous stray cat, not knowing he was simply a yokai in disguise. Their backstory together is still in the works, but this is what i have as of rn ^^

story wise their roles are kinda similar to that of Whisper n Jibanyan in the sense that Yuu is adeuce’s first introduction to yokai and grim is essentially Resident Asshole Cat 😭😭

when it comes to their human disguise and their usual yokai form, there aren’t a lot of visual differences to take note of tbh. The main key differences would be the cane and the pants. While in disguise, Yuu’s pants don’t have the little tears at the bottom, but they are more likely to be seen with the cane due to a previous leg injury when they were alive

while in yokai form however, the cane is mostly rlly an aesthetic choice. Despite this, Yuu does occasionally feel similar phantom pains in both forms

On the other hand, Grim in disguise looks like a regular cat save for the faint blue coloring of his ears and the split tail !! Yokai grim is honestly just regular grim though tbh…….

the two “haunt” adeuce’s shared dorm and tend to accompany them to classes and such !!

"Wreckcore" x "redstone is sorcery" concept. Robots, androids, machines, and cyber things, but also mythical magical business all in one. Urban cyber fantasy?

Scrap metal, exposed wires, safety goggles, and old machine parts, held together by vague understanding of power from another realm. Oh and there's supernatural creatures too. That kind of vibe. A big mess. An excuse to draw everything I like.

I'm more of a draw-er than a words-er, but I wanted to ramble a bit here under the cut ^^ Thanks again for the ask, I am so happy to have another reason to yap about Turbo Okarun~

While I'm glad that the manga/anime didn't spend too much time on Okarun's struggles in canon, I am having So Much Fun thinking of ways to torture this guy haha. We see him complaining that the curse hurts him in the first half of the season, but he doesn't actually seem to end up with any lasting damage! In my mind, it'd make sense for him to end up more fatigued or to suffer from random nosebleeds or other internal injuries due to the curse manipulating his body the way it does.

I also looooved the instances in episodes 5/6 when he transformed without meaning to! Very fun to see his emotions getting the better of him~

Now, if I were a fic writer, I would be so interested in exploring physical side effects in something like a sick fic. What if he detransforms and finds that he can't warm back up? Still corpse-cold like his yokai form instead of human temperature? Or, I could take a page out of NatsuYuu's book and have him come down with a cold/fever as a consequence of some of his tougher fights? Lots of good potential for angst there, for sure ^^

And lastly, what if he was on a timer the minute he transformed?? What if staying transformed and going all out began chipping away at his sanity? It's not his power, after all. Stay in Turbo Mode too long and suddenly he's a prisoner in his own mind. The curse takes over and he's just along for the ride, no longer able to control his body. >:3

The Argument (aka Watch as These Two Nerds Fight Over Whether Ghosts or Aliens Spirits or Yokai are Real).

It's Dandadan AU time! A bit of lore:

Spirits are supernatural creatures who govern over certain aspects of our world (like Agni is a Sun spirit while Hei Bai is a forest). Yokai are the corrupted souls of humans who suffered in terrible ways, and were unable to move on to the afterlife—thus becoming something else.

Most people can't tell the difference between a spirit and a yokai. These two dorks, though? They're painfully aware of it.
