Tyr used his free hand to slide one of the cucumbers over his eyes up to look at Y'dehlya. "But does he 'like me' like me?" Y'dehlya eyed a bright red bottle of nail polish on her nightstand among her array as she continued to brush black paint on her best friend's nails. He tilted his head away without shifting either cucumber. "Does Phoenyx even like guys?" He groaned.

Y'dehlya put the black down and grabbed the red nail polish, giving him a slightly exasperated smile. "Sweetie, you can just ask him to hang out after our next practice."

Tyr's eye widened nervously. "Does he...Does he want to hang out? Alone? Just us?"

She let out a chuckle and shrugged as she unscrewed the bottle and began applying it to his next nail. "I don't know," she smirked, "but I've been watching him, and he's been throwing glances your way~" Tyr remained silent, but she had a feeling he was blushing under the face mask. "Again, just invite him somewhere, like the mall? I'm not saying to ask him out after practice, honey. Gods, no, you just met the man. Get to know him first, and find out from there. His likes, dislikes, what he's into. What do you think I did with Byron?"

Tyr looked away. "I'll...I'll think about it..."

Y'dehlya grinned and ruffled his hair as he slipped the cucumber back on. "Do you want some glitter?"

"Yes, please."

some band au ruetash thoughts bc i am obsessed with their fucked up dynamic :3

they have matching tattoos. rue has little rue flowers along her collarbones. gortash has a little flower where ever i can remember to draw it (its looking like his upper arm or maybe behind his ear. somewhere hidden)

rue also has gortash's handprint on her arm and he has hers somewhere else on him, a little bit smaller and more hidden away. dont look too deep into the meaning of that

hooked up a few times weeks before rue signed up to be under gortash's management. and then a few months into that professional relationship she moved in with him (it was cheaper than paying rent for a shitty studio apartment when she could use that money to put back into her singing career)

she has his card details memorised. want pizza? no worries, it's on gortash

rue also has a few songs she's written about gortash (some nice, some not so nice) that will never see the light of day because theyre "too vulnerable"

gortash was in a band in his 20's. he has scrubbed all knowledge of that from the internet because if anyone found out he would be cancelled so many times

(also fits the lyric from motion sickness by phoebe bridgers "and you were in a band when i was born" bc unfortunately... age gap ruetash in this and thats a song i think rue would sing in this au)

rue jumps between genres a lot. gortash tells her its a good idea to do early in her career so she can see what performs best and use that. she enjoys showing off how she's good in any genre she sings in

in some of her early songs recorded under gortash's management she gets him to do backing vocals. its kind of sweet, actually

rue has a draft of what she would post if she and gortash were to ever break up. lines include "he took advantage of me at my most vulnerable" and "i am so upset at how i was treated, both as a client and as a partner". she's unsure if she should drop this as a notes app message or film a video using it as a script so she can pretend to cry to really sway public opinion into siding with her

on the opposite side, gortash has several emails drafted and ready to send to big magazines and news outlets documenting rue's anger issues and her treatment of workers/techies/the general public, so he can smear her name and ruin her career

they love each other really :)

And though his friends try to convince him of things Jeongguk thinks are completely untrue or agree with his wanting to move, as time goes by, Jeongguk realizes that things may be a little more complicated than he thought- love being right around the corner when he was never expecting it.

FFXIVWrite 2024 Day 2: Horizon (Modern/Band AU)

horizon (n.): the line at which the earth's surface and the sky appear to meet.

It wasn't fair sometimes.

Y'dehlya sat under a tree on the beach curled up in a ball away from most other visitors and stared out at the duskfall horizon, watching the waves lap upon the sand, ears flat upon her head.

She and her bandmates were preforming at a nearby concert plus taking a few days to themselves, so they rented a beachside villa. As a bonus, their partners were all able to tag along.

Well, all but hers.

Byron said his work might prevent him from joining the rest of them in the first place. Plus, even if he were to come, they were still bound to their secrecy, and this trip contained a more open public venue. They'd be hard-pressed to enjoy the trip together without getting potentially hounded by reporters and paparazzi except for within the villa.

Her heart hurt. It was a product of their circumstance, but she should be allowed to resent it sometimes, right? She sighed wistfully and buried her head in her arms.

"Excuse me, ma'am. I noticed you sitting here all by yourself. Is there anything I can do to help?" Came a man's voice beside and above her. It was smooth, gentlemanly, and most of all, familiar. Her ears immediately perked up and she lifted her head towards the owner: a Viera with wavy dark purple hair and loving brown eyes dressed in swim shorts and an undone button-up shirt smiling down at her.

"Byron!" She jumped up and hugged him tightly, burying her head in his chest. "I thought you weren't going to make it..."

Byron hugged her back just as intensely and pet her hair. "I thought I wasn't going to, either. But I'm here." Y'dehlya lifted her head and beamed up at him. She rubbed a tear out of her eye and he dried the other one. "When I got to the villa, the others told me you'd gone off to the beach on your own. I even tried calling and texting you." he continued.

"Oh." She looked at him apologetically. "I...just wanted to be alone for a bit."

"I understand, my beloved, I understand." He pulled her in for a long-awaited kiss. "If you had returned before I could find you, one of them would've just called me, and I would see you back at the villa. But, I'm happy I did." He stroked the side of her face, and she leaned into his hand, laying hers on top of it and smiling at him. Byron could hear the low rumble of her purring.

They turned towards the horizon. "It's beautiful, isn't it?" Y'dehlya commented.

"It is."

"Stay with me a while? Hold me?"

"Of course. That's why I came all this way." When Y'dehlya turned back to him, he kissed her again.

hehe of course!! choose a title from one of my wips and i'll share a snippet / tell you about it!

it's my "here's how rue and gortash meet" fic for the band au that they're in - rising stars!

i'm trying to really pinpoint down their relationship prior to the fic starting since they've been together for around 3 years at that point!

they meet after one of rue's shitty gigs (performed in a pub where no one was listening but she needs the exposure and all that). afterwards they end up talking for a bit as rue waits for her taxi (and they keep cancelling on her) she's very standoffish because her day hasnt been going well and suddenly theres this guy who wont leave her alone and keeps talking about how talented she is but she really isnt in the mood for it

they part ways when a taxi finally gets rue and then re-meet a week or so later at a club. gortash buys her a drink (she doesnt remember his name) and things go from there!!

i thiiiink ive decided that they hook up for quite a while before gortash pulls the "oh i'm actually well established in the music industry and looking for clients to manage, wanna sign under me?" card and rue is a) horrified that hes basically watched her struggle for the past however long doing this solo and b) has a bit of a breakdown and puts all of her hope onto him to help her make it big and relies on him to make it happen

is it a healthy dynamic? not at all. are they both one break up away from exposing the other and ruining both of their careers? of course. do they love each other? they'd never say that word sober but yes

the title comes from the song "is there somewhere" by halsey which is actually on my "here are songs band au rue would sing" playlist because i have Thoughts about her different eras and who she sounds like but thats for a different post
