Stop the presses! Did you know Eeli Tolvanen's older brother Atte is a goalie playing pro hockey in the ICEHL (a Central European hockey league that is also Austria's top tier hockey league)?
BOY IS HE. And Finnish goalies, when they win a championship, do this:
Bless these boys.
Anyway, while Eeli was off having himself a day at the Winter Classic with a team that loves him SO MUCH (I won't deny that after he scored his goal I yelled "WE GOT HIM FOR FREE" at the park), his brother was also having a great day, doing this:
It's not even his first goalie goal! He scored one in college!
Anyway, shoutout to Atte Tolvanen, and I do wonder if there are some NHL teams who kinda wish they had a goalie with this much swagger and talent in their system. (He may be 29, but apparently he's quite good!)

Look out Eeli Tolvanen, Atte Tolvanen can score goals too.
The Northern Michigan University goalie, and brother of the Nashville Predators forward, became the 11th netminder in NCAA hockey history to score in the Wildcats 5-3 win against Michigan Tech on Friday.
Tolvanen, a senior who also stopped 23 shots in his seventh win of the season, fielded a shot attempt and flipped it over all 11 skaters down the ice and in. He became just the fourth goalie to shoot the puck into the net in an NCAA game and the first in the 42-year history of the Northern Michigan program.

Naiset tuikkivat tykkilumihiihdoissa: tässä kaikki tulokset (Lempäälän-Vesilahden Sanomat )
Lue alkuperäinen artikkeli tältä sivulta: this site
Naisten vitosellla mentiin lujaa. LeKi:n Sanni Alatalo vetää kintereillään Hämeenlinnan Hiihtoseuran Anni Kainulainen.
Hakkarin kansallisissa vapaan tyylin tykkilumihiihdoissa lauantaina 2. joulukuuta 1 400 metrin latu oli hyvässä kunnossa. LeKi hiihdon kisoissa oli 165 hiihtäjää, lekiläisiä heistä lähes 30.
SM-tasolla kärkijoukkoon kuuluvat Hämeenlinnan Hiihtoseuran Maija Hakala ja nuorempi haastaja Anni Kainulainen olivat vetopäällä. Hakala voitti Kainulaisen puolella minuutilla. Ski Jyväskylän Emma Hämäläinen jäi puolestaan Kainulaisesta puolisen minuuttia.
LeKi:n Sanni Alatalo hiihti hyvin jääden kolmosesta vain 4,6 sekuntia. 20-vuotiaissa hallinnut Viialan Klaara Leponiemi olisi ollut yleisessä sarjassa viides. 5. heti Sanni Alatalon jälkeen.
Miesten kympillä vei odotetusti voiton Vantaan Hiihtoseuran Mikko Kuusela, mutta Pyhäjärven Pohdin Vilho Moilanen ahdisti seitsemän sekunnin erolla.
Kakkossijoja lankesi lekiläisille nuorille ja varttuneille miehille useampiakin. Ainoan sarjavoiton otti ensimmäistä kertaa LeKi:n väreissä kilpaillut M40:n Markus Välimäki, joka olisi ollut yleisessä sarjassa kolmonen.

Season Of The Goalie Goal
There may not be as many people that know of the GOJHL - the Greater Ontario Junior Hockey League - as much as they know the NCAA, the KHL, the AHL, the WHL, or the USHL, but all six of these leagues have something in common aside from being developmental leagues for higher-level hockey. I guess the KHL isn't truly a developmental league in the truest sense of the word, but you get what I mean. In any case, the GOJHL might have seen one of the strangest scenes in hockey tonight, and the end result was another goal for a goaltender. In a game tonight against the Komoka Kings, the Kings did a rather unusual thing - they pulled their goalie in double-overtime! In looking at the standings, Kokoma is sitting in sixth-place with a playoff spot already guaranteed, and they were looking to make up ground on fifth-place LaSalle late in the season for a better playoff match-up. With nothing to lose, the coaches of Kokoma decided to go for broke by playing the 3-on-3 overtime period without a netminder to try and get an advantage. It should be noted that in the GOJHL, there is no shootout at the end of overtime. Rather, if the two teams are tied through the 3-on-3 overtime period, both teams end the game with a point. Kokoma is running out of track when it comes to games remaining, so they gambled. And they lost both the gamble and the game. Why is this news? With the game tied 0-0 in the second overtime period and with Kokoma running four players out there, Sarnia-born goaltender Anthony Hurtubise did the unthinkable.
youtube
Hurtubise had the presence of mind to make the glove save, drop it to his stick with traffic incoming, and loft it down the ice into the yawning cage with 1:13 left in double-overtime for the game-winning goal! On top of that, he also records the 27-save shutout of Kokoma as the netminder had himself the best night that any goalie likely could have statistically! That's the sixth goal captured on video this year by a goaltender as Hurtubise joins Tristan Jarry of the AHL's Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins who scored on November 14, Ian Scott of the WHL's Prince Albert Raiders who scored on November 16, Atte Tolvanen of the NCAA's Northern Michigan University Wildcats who scored on December 7, and Roman Durny of the USHL's Des Moines Buccaneers who scored on December 18, and Jon Ortio of the KHL's Vityaz Moscow who netted his own empty-netter on January 30. If NHL teams are looking for unlikely offence as they near the trade deadline, they want to look for that offence from their own crease with how often goalies are scoring this season! Until next time, keep your sticks on the ice! from Sports News http://hockey-blog-in-canada.blogspot.com/2019/02/season-of-goalie-goal.html

DUN DUN DUUUH, THE LIIGA NHL/AHL BROTHER ANSWERS ARE IN. @freepilut, you guessed three correctly, so you get the shout-out! not that far behind were @fangirlinglikealoon and @smileysepe with two right guesses.
1. From yellow and black to black and yellow, Simo-Pekka Riikola of SaiPa is Pittsburgh Penguins d-man’s Juuso Riikola’s older brother.
2. Ilves player Antti Saarela’s older brother Aleksi Saarela plays for Florida Panthers (but I could only find him in a Canes jersey).
3. If Detroit Red Wings’ Valtteri Filppula is one of the oldest people on his team, then it’s no surprise his big brother Ilari Filppula is the oldest in TPS.
4. Pelicans goalie Atte Tolvanen probably knows best how to stop Milwaukee Admirals’ Eeli Tolvanen from scoring, and yes, I’m aware Eeli is not currently being the sniper that he used to be, don’t @ me.
5. Okay, Eero Teräväinen plays in HIFK’s U20 team, but everyone on Tumblr loves Carolina Hurricanes’ Teuvo Teräväinen so who am I to leave him out?
6. Kimmo Timonen may have retired as a Stanley Cup champion in Chicago Blackhawks several years back, but since his little brother Jussi Timonen still plays in KalPa, they get to be on this list too.

Northern Michigan goaltender on the verge of breaking NCAA record for consecutive shutouts
Atte Tolvanen is two periods away from an incredible record.
Northern Michigan’s hockey team is on a six-game win streak, one that has catapulted them into a sixth-place tie in the WCHA. The last five of those wins have all been shutouts at the hands — and pads — of sophomore Atte Tolvanen, who is sitting at a scoreless streak of 335 minutes and 39 seconds.
Tolvanen will need only 39 minutes and 23 seconds of scoreless play to break a college hockey record set by Blaine Lacher of Lake Superior State in 1994. It’s a record as old as Tolvanen himself, who is currently a sophomore at Northern Michigan University.
It hasn’t been an easy road these last five and a half games either. Tolvanen has had to stop 215 consecutive shots, with a career-high 48 of those coming against Alaska Fairbanks in one game last Saturday. Tolvanen stopped 39 saves in the Wildcats’ shutout victory just the day before.
Tolvanen, however, doesn’t seem to be fazed by the potential record looming over his head, according Ryan Stieg of The Mining Journal.
“I feel pretty good,” he admitted with a chuckle. “It popped in my head, but I tried to push that out.
“The guys have been great in front of me, though. They’ve collected all of the rebounds that I’ve given up, so this was a whole team effort. They’ve been helping me so much.”
The Northern Michigan Wildcats have a tough weekend ahead of them, as they’ll be facing a Minnesota State team on the road in their quest to get Tolvanen his record.
