Before I had a Tumblr account there was this Greek mythology blog I really liked called @dontwannadothisanymore but now they're deactivated :/
This really sucks because I really wanna see their posts again (and there were two that I really really really need to see again). But if nobody reblogged then those posts are gone... forever. I have faith that people reblogged, though, I just need to find them.
If anyone has ANY post from them that they reblogged, please tell me!! Genuinely I will be so thankful.
Here are the two post I'm looking for:
One is an Athena Complex big 4 (Zeus, Hera, Poseidon, Hades) headcanons post. I think it was about them feeling/using their power for the first time. The only thing a recall concretely is Hades being oblivious af (and something to do with Cerberus). There was a panel of the character before each set of headcanons.
The other is a Hades & Poseidon & Zeus fic, and actually if I dig through my very numerous ChatGPT prompts I might find it (sorry, I think I fed the fic to AI because I loved the style so much, maybe I shouldn't have done that but if I do find it that way then I sure won't regret it) but I might not (it will also take a helluva long time 'cause I didn't name any of them) . Uhh it's kinda hard to explain the premise but what I remember is: Hades spits out bad coffee (on the stairs?) and goes to the kitchen (and sets the cup in the sink?) and lies down on the floor. I don't remember what Poseidon was doing but he also joins Hades on the floor. Zeus gets up to use the bathroom and calls out to his brothers if they're in there just in case, and Poseidon answers that they're in the kitchen on the floor and Zeus ends up joining them too. Yeah. At some point either Zeus or Poseidon narrowly avoids stepping on Hades's coffee-spit.
I loved *all* of their Greek mythology headcanons though, literally if you can find a single one please tell me.
I did a google search and found some of their not Greek mythology posts, and a couple of Gm headcanon posts which I will reblog (but on a seperate blog probably).
(I'm too scared to reach out to the bigger blogs they interacted with; some of them are restricted anyways.)
Yeah. Thank you (if you read this far lol).
And sorry for the tags...

XD this is great
au where Athena doesn't realise Adrian is Poseidon's reincarnation, but they're still friends.
Athena: i will seek revenge on my worst enemy.
Adrian, the enemy: ....good luck..?
AND:
Everyone trying to keep Athena away from Adrian because they think she's gonna kill him the moment she figures it out but they're trying to be subtle and they end up being too subtle for her to notice because she's dead set on finding Poseidon.
Apollo: maybe you should expand your friend group
Athena: you want me to be friends with sibyl?
Apollo: no-

Trojan War adaptations that completely remove the gods are so stupid as if the drama and interactions between the gods with each other and their favorite mortals aren’t literally the highlights of the story. Especially Athena and Hera, there is never a dull moment with them.

People are always saying "Athena deserves to be in a better game" but like... I don't even think that's really possible... so much of Athena's shtick has the terrible parts of dual destinies fundamentally baked into it. I honestly feel what people mean when they say that is they want an ace attorney game that actually has a well written female protagonist. Which would be great. And she could sure be named Athena cykes but I think you would end up with a character that only has superficial similarities to the one we have in dual destinies because the superficial elements are the only ones unburdened by her absolutely stupid as shit backstory

prob unpopular opinion but i don't mind athena's reckless bad cop acts and i don't mind that the show never acknowledges them as one. they're entertaining, angela is hot doing them, it's not that serious to me bc i made my peace with the political identity of this show before i got into it. if anything them attempting to explore and/or justify these acts in a way that's just a tad more complex always circles back to even worse copaganda and a confused message.

[Image Description: Digitally doodled busts of Dual Destinies characters framed by coloured shapes. On the left is Myriam, looking at the viewer with a bashful, unsure expression as she weaves one of her pigtails around her fingers. She has a yellow triangle framing her. On the upper middle is Jinxie, holding a platter up to over the bottom half of her face as she gazes to the lower right with an anxious look. A desaturated blue oval frames her. The lower middle has Aura, her head tilted to look at the viewer with a suspicious glare, scratching her cheek lightly. An aqua circle frames her. On the right is Athena, looking up at the viewer with a pleasant smile. Athena's design has been adjusted by the artist to have tanner skin, acne marks, and Widget as a bolo tie rather than a necklace. Behind her is a lavender rectangular frame. The overall background is flat white. End ID]
finished dual destinies yesterday :] loved lots of the gals

Nico and Reyna should have been a part of the seven. Not Percy and Annabeth.
I am long past the point of being upset about this, but it’s still something I feel is worth talking about.
Percy and Annabeth had their story. They had five books of that story in fact. Their arcs were pretty much completed by that point. Sure, there was room to expand the scraps that were left untouched, and I definitely think they should do that, but to do that there was no need for them to be parts of the seven.
I am aware that this would completely change the narrative of the story, but they can still be parts of the Argo crew
Now, when I say that, I mean that they'd function in a similar way that Nico and Reyna did in the original books
Reyna is a new character and Nico is one that’s far from having been developed to his fullest. Making them parts of the seven would give them more time to shine. Especially Reyna. The dynamics of the characters on this shp would need to shift and change from the beginning!
Like- Think of how this would effect the politics of Camp Jupiter? The fall into Tartarus? The blood of Olympus!?
And honestly I’d love for Percy and Annabeth to be tagging along to the quest, just not as part of the seven.
But of course, the people wanted Percy and Annabeth, and Percy and Annabeth was given too the people. They were even thrown into Tartarus for the people.
Judging from the reaction people had to Jason in The Lost Hero, the reason why Percy and Annabeth were a part of the seven is, of course, very clear, but that doesn’t mean I think a more interesting story could have been told if it had been Reyna and Nico.

it's so crazy to me when people defend copaganda or worse praise cops bc one is played by angela bassett when she herself has said playing one has not made her any less afraid of cops irl
like it's okay to love a character bc of their actress and still criticize when said character is used to downplay the violent institution that is the police

Okay, this is bugging me. Percy saying I'm sorry after hitting Luke isn't because of his fatal flaw. It's because he is a kid who reacted as if the situation was life and death just like on the quest he just returned from. It's because he is a kid and he just hurt a friend and because he acted before he thought. It's because violence isn't his weapon of choice but it's the one he has been forced to use. If you think I'm wrong rewatch the episode with Medusa and think.

How would you describe Hermes? Most fictional adaptations that I've read have made him bland or a class clown obsessed with jokes. I'm trying to write something balanced but I'm unsure how to do it. Do you have any advice?
Personally, I think he fits chaotic neutral alignment more than any other god. I've based my interpretation not just on his myths but also on the domains he rules. For me he's an individualist who does things on a whim. Not that doesn't care for anyone else at all - I do think he genuinely and consistently cares for some of his divine family members. He's thick as thieves with Zeus, Apollo, Pan and Dionysus if you ask me. But towards the others, he is mostly just...idk if apathetic is the right word... but whatever he does - help or harm - depends on whether he thinks it's fun or not. He would also definitely and very easily convince others that he's helping them when in reality, he's not. As long as he is entertained, he would show no remorse for doing what he did regardless of how it would affect the others. This could be fun or terrifying, depending on the situation.
Like you said, the fun side of it is what's usually shown in most of media adaptations I've come across. He is usually written off as a comedic relief who does harmless pranks for laughs. So it would be a good change to see the other, terrifying side of this attitude of his. For all the complaints I have with Rick Riordan's characterization of gods, I've grown to like Hermes' portrayal in his series. He is fun, he is helpful. But he's also negligent and that actually has a significant effect on the others in the series. There's also one instance where Apollo recalls the tale of Hemithea and Molpadia, and he adds that if it was Hermes in his place, he would have just laughed and not done anything to save the girls. So if you want to write something more balanced, you could let his apathetic side peek in between his charming, cheerful nature. You can show that the consequences of his actions are not always fun and lighthearted, but can also be cruel, capable of truly hurting someone. Good luck!

i have so many feelings about this because to me percy is one of the most indifferent demigods, especially among children of the Big Three. nico is desperate to be loved by Hades, Thalia is full of rage, Jason reveres Zeus (which… omg) and Hazel is quietly resigned. on the other hand, Percy seems quite okay with his dad being a deadbeat. he can be scathing about Poseidon, and i’m sure there’s still anger and hurt somewhere but he’s detached.
or at least that’s what i thought. the sentence “i wondered if the approach would work with me” makes me believe he’s not, in fact, detached at all.

thinking about women being forced into the voice of reason role today. how they, more often than not, have to play the straight man to men's goofy antics. how, because there are so often fewer of them, there's no room to give a woman the role of the class clown or the witty sidekick or the fast talker. how, because there's still a fear of dragging women back to a place of being seen as inherently weaker, they must be serious and put-upon and still somehow care for everyone.
