Like what i mean is that a common thing i see in regards to media like Starship troopers or warham 40k or helldivers is that people try to argue no one is good because the aliens attack humanity. And like that has always been an odd argument to me, especially in helldivers. 私が以前に2年ほど使っていたWG1900HP2も該当。あるときから頻繁にネット接続が切れるようになり、再起動してもリセットしてもダメで、ファームウェアのアップデートすらも何度試してもできなくて捨てた。捨てて正解。

NECのルーター「Aterm」シリーズの製品に脆弱性があるとのこと（impress）。僕は長らくAtermシリーズを使っていて、今も使っています。今回発表された機種にはリストされていなかったので、とりあえず大丈夫そうです。

こういうことがあると「え、じゃあまた脆弱性が出てくる可能性があるから、今後はNECのルーターを買うのはやめよう」と考える人と「NECはちゃんと脆弱性を検証して発表してくれるんだな、信頼できる」と考える人がいるんじゃないかと思うのですが、僕は後者の人間です。

どっちの考え方も合理的だと思うんですよね。僕の場合は、ルーターの脆弱性なんて自分では検証できないので、だったらちゃんと確認して発表してくれるメーカーのほうが良いと。

性能的な不満は無いので、たぶん今後��第一の選択肢としてNECを考えると思います。

I'll devide the analysis into four sections

General mannerism

Body language

Facial expression

Is he really a psychopath?

I am a sociopath (trauma induced) myself (tho its aterm i do not like to use, instead i personally use „antisocial personality disorder”) so getting into YJs headspace is pretty easy for me.

We begin this post by looking at his general mannerism first to establish a general knowledge of him

From the start its pretty clear he acts pretty “youthful”. From the way he sits to the way speaks and walks. This is not something he does to manipulate- this is his actual mannerism. He does not stop acting this way once its revealed hes behind the killing. Usually, you would see a “real” psychopath play two different characters- not just personality, but also behavior. To make manipulation easier. They would never, or rarely, let other people see their “real” self (as psychopathy is a personality disorder). Pre- reveal YJ sits with his head held high, hands always in front of him. He walks with ease and talks in well sponken manner. In some shots we see him with his legs closed. Post-reveal YJ acts exactly the same. He sits with his hands in front of him and his head is held high. He walks with ease and never lashes out. The only thing that does change is the way he sits- unlike pre reveal, his legs are more spread apart.

Body language of Jung Yoonjae:

As mentioned earlier, pre reveal YJ sits with his hands in front of him. Either under the table where we cant see his hands, or on the table clapsed together. Clasped hands is the most common misinterpreted body language- its once being thought as a symbol of “confidence and authority” when actually its a sign of stress, anxiety, frustration, insecurity and alike. 

There are three types of common “hand clasping”:

Palm to palm (what YJ does): This happens, when the other person wants to feel a sense of security. Its like holding hands.

Fingers interlaced: This happens, when the person feels they are being scrutinized

Fingers in palm: This happens, when the person doesnt necessarily feels insecure but they want to hold a pose that looks suitably dignified

“The position of the hands can vary—how high they are on the body and how close. In general, the higher they're held and the closer to the body, the stronger the anxiety.”

Pre reveal YJ sits with his legs closed. Either legs crossed or simply just closed.

Crossed legs are associated with feeling “comfortable, confident and relaxed”. But the can also mean closing oneself off- especially if hands are crossed on top/in front of them. It suggests shutting oneself off from the world, disinterest, defensiveness, stress, anxiety, nervousness, insecurity and submissivness.

On the other hand, once hes being interrogated he sits with his legs spread- this symbolizes openness, dominance , confidence, arrogance, combativness and sexual inclination. 

The way he walks is pretty interesting to look at- in episode 2, when all the jurors leave the court, he sways slightly. His left arm swings back and forth and his upper body part swings from left to right. Its as if hes walking with ease.

In body language, this type of walk is open- it means someone feels good. Given what we know about YJ- who he is and what he did- he must feel pretty good an “innocent man” got his prison sentence. He feels relieved. He smiles. 

When he sits, he leans back. Pre and Post YJ reveal. Leaning back expresses indifference or disinterest. On the contrary it can also mean relaxation or comfort. If someones is slouching in the seat, its associated with unfriendliness, anxiousness or boredom. Post reveal YJ sits against the chair in a slouched type. Pre reveal YJ can be seen slouched foreward- or leaned foreward. This shows, one is engaged in the conversation and pays attention. 

Facial expression of Jung Yoonjae- the most interesting and important part of his character.

While at first, it seems pretty cold and the typical “psychopath” type of way, if we take a closer look at what his eyes say and convey, theres so much more hidden than just someone who enjoys killing. 

Prime example is this: 

This isnt just the facial expression of a psychopath/serial killer who just got his plans ruined. This is the face of someone genuinely hurt and betrayed. We can see the kid reflected in his eyes- the childhood he lost. His smile fades and it reveals a hurt expression- his eyes shoot up delayed from when his smile disappears. As if he only then realizes what just happened- what he just got told. By looking up, he wants to verify the truth in Sungjoons words. If he wasnt interested in whats been said, he wouldve kept looking down. 

The most painful facial expression though we see at the near end of episode 14.

I dont want to cite a meme in a rather serious post but “You can actually pinpoint the second when his heart rips in half”

This is also the first time he lashes out- but rather out of frustration and a feeling of betrayal than being genuinely angry. This is a common trait of psychopaths and sociopaths. We dont know how to handle our emotions and so we lash out without. It happens suddenly without any indicator (like when people w/o a personality disorder get mad, you can usually see the anger brooding up inside of them and its a slow process- with us, it can happen out of the blue and mostly when we are extemly frustrated). Moments later, we see him pushing Sungjoon down the strairs. This is in direct correlation to him meeting and getting betrayed(?) by Sunghoon. Hes is frustrated and as he has no idea how to handle the situation, he does whats best in an already deteriorating situation: making it worse for them all three. Especially for Sunghoon. As if he is trying to tell him "anything you can do, i can do better."

Pre and post revela YJ both smile tho both hold a significant different meaning- while pre reveal YJ smiles to not tell his true personality via facial expression post reveal YJ smiles because he enjoys the play hes a part of.

The smile he wears when he lurs Moonkang into the trap:

There is not only satisfication displayed but also relief of the pain he went through. It the kind of smile someone would wear whos on their personal revenge. Its not entirely the smile of a cold and hearless killer. The smile does not reach his eyes.

But there is indeed a time when his smiles reaches his eyes- and thats when hes with jungsoo/charles. I'm not trying to be biased towards them two but the smiles shared between them are very genuine and gentle. Pre and post reveal.

Is Yoonjae a psychopath?

A very interesting and complex question and we dont know much about how he was pre Hope Welfare. We only know about his behavior during and after. Psychopathy isnt a simple character trait- its shown early in a kids life. Psychopathy starts by hurting small insects first, then larger animals (like cats, dogs, rabbits) and later on it evolvs into hurting humans. We dont know if he did all those things so we cant for sure sasy if hes one or not- so, the characters delcaring him as one do this solely based on what they see now. It seems that he was loved by his sister and Sunghoon when they were still at the orphanage so its to assume that he wasnt violent. The nun also doesnt mention anything of him being violent towards animals/or his fellow orphans.

Him acting all cold and seemingly enjoying killing people and seeing them in distress could be an indicator of him being a psychopath or on the scale of psychopathy but on the contrary he does feel betrayal (during the whole of episode 14 when he realized Sunghoon betrayed him) and most of the time, psychopaths dont feel this type of emotion. "Since psychopaths don't feel bonded to people in the first place, they feel no sentimental 'loss' when they are betrayed or let down by someone."

Yoonjae heavily relies on trust and when said trust gets abused he feels it- pretty deep. Thats also why he smiles at Charles when he sees him at the back of the mass of reporters as he then realizes theres at least him who he can still trust. He relies on people, we can see it in flashbacks from the welfare, hes "clingy" towards Sunghoon- psychopaths do not feel those emotions. If we want to put him in any sort of category of the personality disorder scale i personally would say he falls under sociopathy/antisocial personality disorder. As ASPD isnt clear set, some of us will say all the characteristics (shown in the list of the article) fit, while others say only a few do. People can also walk a thin line betweeen psychopathy and sociopathy, especially if it doesnt get diagnosed on time.

I really really do not like when shows paint traumatized characters as psychopaths- it puts a stigma on us and a possible personality disorder thats NOT psychopathy. I will not accept Yoonjae to be a psychopath. And i hope some in this fandom will feel similar. The "evil" side of YJ, simply put, was birthed. What happened in the welfare attacked someone with an already weak psyche and manifested into something dark.

I had to do this post as YJ is so much more than what the general audience sees- also because he is a very tragic character.
