The other post was getting long, and this is a different sword, so here you go:

I actually fucking finished a mesh edit!!!!! Well, at least the meshing part. This thing has parts from three different sword meshes. Tomorrow it's on to texturing hell. I've never textured anything before in my LIFE, and I just know it's going to be miserable, lmao.

Especially since I assume I'm going to have to make a new uv map and I don't know shit about that. But I at the very least need a texture for renders, and this sword is low-poly enough that I could probably make it an in-game accessory too.

#morrigan.txt #wip #blender wip #in case anyone is curious: the blade is from natalia auditore's alucard sword. the cross guard is a shorter/wider version of part of the #crossguard from moriel's diego sword (which is actually wolf's rapier mesh) and the hilt is also from there.#the loop is from tinkle's rapier build/buy object from their pirate cc set. But I made it skinnier and longer iirc.#if I could I would gladly use the existing textures for the blade and hilt but idk if I can do that.#I'm gonna have to go searching for tutorials to find out how to deal with UV maps.#the only uv stuff I've done is converting build/buy objects to cas accessories which doesn't really count bc I wasn't changing the mesh.#I don't think I could share this publicly unfortunately. year six of being salty that around halfway through RoS the writers went 'shit we accidentally wrote five way too sympathetic and reasonable, and he is rapidly going through a redemption arc. quick shove in random serial killer shit out of nowhere without explanation, which completely contradicts his character and its development up til then. wait fuck he's redemption arcing EVEN HARDER in FoT. shit shit shit okay just make him hannibal lecter'

#lorien legacies #LL number five #LL crit tag #the crit files #five hurting people is something he consistently has to work himself up toward by turning them into an Object of Hatred #and/or having someone else encourage him to do so #because hurting people /fucks him up/ even when he hates them #and after that has hit its breaking point of emotional intensity he just. stops wanting to hurt them #wants to help them or at least for them to be alright in fact; even when they've treated him horrifically #and when that breaking point results in doing irreversible harm he regrets it SO MUCH #he has to spend a month dissociating and keeping himself busy every waking hour not to break the fuck down over what he did to ethan #and he DOES break the fuck down over killing eight #like even if he thought well of eight in particular by comparison he's been stoked up to hate the other garde in general #which leads pretty quickly to regret and total lack of malice toward the garde after the showdown in florida #he is completely broken over it #even /nine/ he loses 'i want this person hurt' animosity toward after florida. in fact animosity at all that we see after that initial #monologue over eight's body; where he's having his big moment of realizing he has more hatesinking to regret than just hurting eight #and he doesn't say he wants nine to suffer. he just says it wasn't worth helping him because he thinks he'd just throw it away #the only time we see him kill someone and not seem too fucked up about it is when it's a mog soldier who presumably knew what he was #signing up for; and was literally swinging a sword at five's head #five fucks me up because at heart he just does not have real malice in him. if he is feeling it something has gone terribly wrong #not as in ~lol of course it has he's crazy~ but as in 'if you supposedly feel fine but are under so much stress that you're having constant #shakes and heart palpitations that is not your default state of being; you are being bent in half and you're eating yourself'#so them randomly going uhmmm ACTUALLY he's a BLOODTHIRSTY SADISTIC SERIAL KILLER who carves his number into a rando's chest #for no reason; and lets people regenerate rather than kill them so he can savor hacking them apart over and over; and drools over murdering #as many people as he can including two random mog guards that happened to be in him and ella's way is like. fuck off lmao #even if you try to go with him turning the mogs into a hatesink for what they've done he would go into a breakdown spiral as soon as it #resulted in killing someone and actually seeing them suffer. the other exception to this that we see before the character assassination #started was deltoch but i do feel like there's an explanation there; it doesn't feel Jarring; but will have to think about it #anyway five has some great moments in UaO but it's really frustrating trying to pick through the bullshit for Actual Characterization

#fave spotting #edward woodward #callan #the saint #the persistent patriots #1967 #david callan #classic tv #eddy is the named guest star for this episode but actually he wasn't really the household name he would become at this point #in fact this ep was the first Saint episode to air in the uk in 1967 on January 6th‚ setting off a banner year for Woodward that would #be the making of his career. he'd done a few guest spots (Sergeant Cork and Mogul among them) and yes he'd had some stage success #but 67 was his year; around the same time as this Saint appearance he could be seen on the BBC's celebrated drama strand Theatre 625 as the #lead in a multi episode adaptation of Evelyn Waugh's Sword of Honour‚ and almost exactly a month later he'd be making his first screen #appearance as Callan in the Armchair Theatre pilot A Magnum for Schneider‚ the beginning of tv immortality and bigger and better things for #the actor. here he's... well he's serious and he's sullen (two of Ed's strengths as an actor) in a role which.. is FINE on the surface but #absolutely begs some deeper questions. he's the prime minister of an unnamed African country‚ in London to negotiate the independence of #said country from the UK. it's.. a complicated issue (which this single Saint episode absolutely fails to address but I'd have been truly #astonished if it had). i mean yes we're all anti colonialism here of course (even if Simon does seem suspiciously morose about the prospect #of losing another colony in his opening voice over‚ he at least appears to be on Eddy's side through the episode) but there's a kind of #deafening silence throughout this ep: Ed is of course white. his various ministers and other government officials who oppose him are all #also white. the titular 'patriots' who oppose him and make attempts on his life and to prevent the process of independence are all white #the most obvious comparison to be drawn (and presumably the main inspiration for the character) is Rhodesian prime minister Ian Smith #who had led the white minority government of what is now Zimbabwe from 1964 and had been involved in similar negotiations with the british #government (that fell apart in late 65 as Smith's government announced Rhodesia's unilateral independence; the country then became an #unrecognised state subject to economic sanctions that lasted more than a decade). the thing is‚ Smith was a racist piece of shit; the whole #reason those negotiations broke down was because of his refusal to secure black representation in Rhodesia's governance #which makes the complete absence of any black characters in this episode a major red flag. but Ed's character isn't presented as the #villain of the piece; the episode is adamant that the work he's doing is selfless and for the betterment of his country‚ and it isn't as if #Smith was a particularly popular figure in the uk at this point for the ep makers to be painting a positive portrait of him. idk #it's messy. at best tone deaf and at worst.. well. i wish Ed had had a better ep to guest star in that's all im saying
