Sooo. ii17âŚ
imagine getting back your relationship which is the closest bond either of you have ever had and then dying right next to each other. Taco literally died in ii15 out of fear of seeing mic again, then she gets forgiven, a second chance to be with the one person who sheâs ever truly cared for, the one person who cares for taco anymore, just for it all to immediately be ripped away from you. lol what if they died holding each other. As a last plea for help they cling to each other. Theyâre both the most each other have ever had. And now theyâre both gone. Looolll
when taco died in ii15 she didnât think sheâd be brought back, that she was forever doomed to be a terrible person and no one would ever forgive her. But mic did. Taco was made to be that way, taco was made to live a life knowing no one would trust her or care for her. But mic did. No one else. Pickle hates taco and would never forgive her, truly seeing her as someone incapable of change, but mic believed in her. Mic was the only person taco ever knew that truly cared enough to help her change and see it through. Taco didnât get the time to fully fix herself. She died still a fracture of a better person. But mic still cared. They were right next to each other in those final moments.
mic lived her life not being enough. No one ever cared enough to just Listen to her. She somehow always did something wrong. But taco beginning a partnership with her allowed her to prove herself. Taco shows pride in mic multiple times, she knows mic can achieve these things, she gives mic that chance no one else would bother to. Taco listened to her as well, for the most part. She helped her return the taser even though taco viewed that as stupid and she had a chance of getting caught, she did it because it was what mic thought was right. In ii17 she mentions that she didnât do any physical violence, specifically because mic doesnât approve of that. Taco cared for what mic wanted even though she didnât exactly agree. Mic was giving her this chance to be better and taco was taking it so she could be better For mic. Taco went against mics wishes once, in ii14, but she did it because she Thought the outcome was what mic had wanted. She was willing to try and give her everything. Mic was appreciated and understood by One person, and then as a sort of final straw she breaks that apart. But neither of them stop thinking about each other. Taco especially doesnât. After mic leaves it gets rid of her incentive. She stops caring about the money. All she wants is to fix herself. The person she cares for more than anyone, who also had been the only one to care for her, is gone. She suddenly had nobody. She needed to be better. She Wanted to be better. Because she lost the most important thing in her life. Mic leaving made her desperately try to get everyone else to leave just as she had. Because she realised the game was so much more, because she had lost everything from it. Her everything. Mic ends up forgiving her because she never gave up that hope. That hope that taco would change. She never stopped caring for her, she needed taco to see she wasnât in the right. That she Needed to change, and that wouldnât have happened until she left and gave her the time to. As she sees taco actually giving effort to be better, she allows her back in her life. Tacoâs effort got started and now mic was here to help her along the rest of the way. Or, at least, she wouldâve been there if it werenât for their end. She stood by her side as she was brought out to the rest of the contestants, they stood by each other till the moment they died. Two people, err objects, who have only ever been understood by each other. Together in the end. Side by side. As their entire world is deleted along with them.
#ii 17 spoilers#whatâs this im posting tacomic again??#the fixation has come back to me#tacomic#inanimate insanity#rambles#I was expecting so much more out of the tacomic scene in ii17#they condensed it into a short one minute conversation#instead of giving them more time to fully show each others thoughts#and allow room for them to grow#but itâs whatever.#at least i got to see them standing next to each other again after four years

Childhood Sweethearts | Bakugo Katsuki
Summary | You moved to America when you were young, having to leave behind your childhood sweetheart. After moving back to Japan, you'll find out if things have changed between you two
Content | Fluff, honestly I can't think of any warnings for this so let me know if you see anything that needs a warning
Word Count | 1.7k+
A/N | I love the idea of Bakugo being in love with someone through his whole life, I have no idea why. At the time of posting, I wrote this forever ago
It had been almost 5 whole years since you moved away. You missed home. It wasn't like you'd wanted to move away in the first place, but your dad's job took you away from Japan all the way to America.
Finally, at 18 years old, you finally convinced your parents to allow you to move home. Having attended an elite hero school for the past 2 years, you managed to have some special arrangements made for your return home.
And so, that is how you got to where you are now, nervously walking down the halls of UA next to Principal Nezu. He had spent the first half hour of the morning before classes began showing you around and explaining a few things to you.
At the start of homeroom at 8:25AM, he walks you to the classroom of Class 3-A, the class you will be joining, starting today.
Everyone looks over as the door opens, the principal strolling in and standing at the front of the class. You follow nervously. These people have had nearly 3 whole years to get to know each other, and here you are, the new girl joining in the final year, not knowing anyone.
At least, you didn't think you knew anyone, until you force yourself to look at the class properly.
Your eyes immediately fall on a blond boy in the second row. His own eyes are widened, locked onto you. A moment later, you rip your eyes away from him, prompting him to look away also.
When you realise Nezu has stopped speaking and is now looking at you, you snap out of it and look at the whole class.
"My name is Y/N. I have two Quirks, which I am sure I will have more time sometime soon to explain. I look forward to spending this year with you." You say and bow slightly to the class.
Your homeroom teacher, Aizawa, points you to your assigned seat, so you sit down quietly, not saying another word.
It isn't until lunch, almost four hours later, that you say anything else, besides answering questions in class. Your fourth period was English with Present Mic. Having lived in an English-speaking country for almost 5 years, it was quite an easy class for you.
Almost as soon as you are dismissed from class, you're surrounded by people, wanting to talk to you, get to know you. You're fine with that, but you did have someone else you wanted to talk to. They already walked out the door though.
"Y/N!" Someone says, popping up in front of you out of nowhere.
"Izuku!" You smile, excitedly throwing your arms around your old friend.
You see a brown-haired girl blushing as she watches you hugging Midoriya.
"I can't believe you're here! I didn't know you were coming back!"
You nod. "I know, I'm sorry I didn't say anything."
He shakes his head, wanting to reassure you. "It's okay! We fell out of touch, that's not anyone's fault."
Izuku invites you to spend lunch break with him and his friends, being introduced to them all, him explaining a little about how he got into UA at all.
After classes have finished for the day, you don't give Bakugo the chance to run. As soon as you're dismissed from class, you walk over to his desk, standing in front of it and resting your hands on the surface.
"It's nice to see you again, Katsuki." You smirk.
He looks up at you from his chair briefly, quickly looking away. âYeah, it is.â
You lean down so youâre closer to his height, him still avoiding eye contact. âWould you mind walking me back to the dorm? I havenât actually been there yet, Nezu didnât have time to take me.â
He tuts but stands up, picking up his bag and slinging it over your shoulder. Not saying a thing, he leaves the classroom, you following him. You know what heâs like, you know to follow.
As soon as you're out of the halls and outside, he decides to say something. "I didn't know you were coming back." He mutters.
You're just happy to hear him say something to you. "Yeah. I know."
He takes a deep breath. "I'm sorry."
You pause where you are, stunned. You hadn't expected him to apologise to you.
When you don't say anything, he sighs and turns to you, also stopping walking. "I shouldn't have stopped responding. I was upset you were gone, and I went about things in the stupidest way. I... I regret it."
It takes a moment for you to say anything, blinking in shock. "It's okay." You smile brightly up at him. "I understand. It was hard on both of us, after all."
"Yeah, but I ghosted you. I shouldn't have done that. Not to you, you don't deserve that."
"I agree you shouldn't have done it, dummy. But I'm saying I understand, okay?"
He smiles a little, looking down at you. "Come on, let's go to the dorms." He tugs on your backpack, indicating that you should take it off. When you do, he slings one strap over his shoulder, carrying it for you.
"Since when did you become a gentleman?" You ask with a small laugh, making him grunt a 'shut up' to you, his cheeks going slightly pink.
Finally reaching the dorms, Bakugo opens the door for you, letting you into the large building.
Everyone else is already there, the people in the communal area looking at you as you enter. Other than Izuku, people seem a little surprised to see you with Bakugo, and even more surprised that he doesn't look as annoyed as he typically does.
With everyone staring, Katsuki shoves your bag back into your arms before walking over to the stairs to go to his room.
You smile a little as you watch him, shaking your head.
Izuku is the first person to come up to you, smiling. "Everyone wants to get to know you a little. If you have some time, come sit with us?"
You do what he says, walking over and taking a seat between him and a boy with a black streak in mostly blond hair.
You end up spending a couple hours with them, telling them about your Quirk and what it's like to live in America. When they ask about you seemingly already knowing both Izuku and Katsuki, you tell them that you grew up with them.
A girl with pink skin, who you learn is Mina, asks you for some stupid stories about them as kids, Izuku going red and telling you that you don't have to talk about anything you don't want to, trying to save himself the embarrassment.
Even though you're unsure if Bakugo will be annoyed at you for telling them this, you also tell them a few stories from when you and him were dating before you left for America.
Everyone seems surprised, a small uproar coming from the class. No one had ever even seen an indication that he had ever been interested in anyone, yet alone had a girlfriend. It appeared to be a ludicrous idea to most of them.
Kaminari seems to deflate a little upon realising you dated one of his best friends. Guess he thought you were pretty.
Not long after, you go find your room, needing to unpack. Right before you close the door, a foot stops it from closing. A second later, Bakugo comes into view.
"Well, hello there." You smirk a little, looking up at him.
He smirks back, placing a hand on the doorframe, standing in front of you. "Hey. Care if I come in?"
You move out the way for him to come in but tell him it's a little messy because you're still unpacking.
He doesn't even look at the room, closing the door as soon as he's inside and standing close to you, essentially pinning you between him and the door.
That's when you really realise how much he's changed. He's so much taller now than when you last saw him, his shoulders broader, entire body more muscular, a few visible scars now. The whole thing makes you a little flustered.
"So, do you have a little American boyfriend now?" He asks with a slight snarl, expression turning into a smirk as soon as you shake your head. "No? Then, would you mind if I kissed you?" He whispers in your ear.
You don't verbally respond, but the look on your face gives him the answer he needs. He keeps one hand on the wall, the other coming to rest on your waist, leaning in and pressing his lips against yours. Your own hands find your way to his chest, gripping onto his shirt.
A moment later, he pulls away a little, smirking. "Guess we haven't missed a beat, huh?"
You laugh, not letting go of his shirt. "Suki, you're an ass." You say, making him laugh too.
"Yeah, but you love it." He whispers, leaning in to kiss you again. "It's starting to get late, and you haven't finished unpacking yet. If you wanted to stay in my room tonight, you're welcome to."
You look up at him, a little surprised by the proposal. When he sees the look on your face, he panics a small amount. "I didn't mean it like that! I meant we can spend the night sleeping together- no, not sleeping together! Not like that! I just meant- we- we can- I meant-"
You giggle at his nervousness, making him look a little angry. You move your hands to rest on his cheeks, standing on your tiptoes and smashing your lips against his.
When you finally break the kiss again, both a little breathless, he stares at you, mouth open slightly.
"Sorry, I had to find a way to shut you up." You smile. "I'd love to cuddle tonight, Suki."
He looks relieved, taking your hand. "Come on, let's go."
You spend the rest of the night in Bakugo's dorm, cuddling and eventually falling asleep in his bed.
Before he falls asleep, he spends a few moments just watching you, barely being able to believe that he got lucky enough to get you back into his life. He gives you a soft kiss on the forehead, holding you tighter, closing his own eyes and falling asleep.

Eddie sighed as he turned to the bartender, âCan I have the cheapest beer you got? But you only let me have one?â
The guy nodded at him, passing one over with a sympathetic smile, âDesignated driver?â
âSomething like that,â Eddie said, his eyes wandering back to the dance floor. At least the two of them were having fun, giggling and twirling each other around. They were cute together, always were. No one could make Steve smile like Robin could, a fact that Eddie was just going to have to accept.
He sipped his beer as he watched them, smiling to himself a little at how happy they looked. Until someone was tapping on his shoulder. Eddie glanced up, surprised to see a guy standing there. He looked⌠good. J.Crew-esque with a bright smile.
âYou donât really look like the type to come in here,â He said, taking the bar stool next to him.
Eddie gave him a once over, deciding to be quick about not leading him on. He shrugged, âIâm not, but the people I love are.â
The guy nodded along, his eyes trailing to the dance floor. Eddie followed the line of it, frowning when he realized he was looking right at Steve. Robin was in the middle of dipping him, both of them laughing. Eddie swallowed as he looked at them, watching the shine of the bright, colorful dance light cross over his face. He looked gorgeous, relaxed and giggly as he went to return the favor to her. Though now that Eddie was looking around he was realized he wasnât the only one staring.
âSpeaking of that,â The guy went on, âWhatâs the deal with the guy you came in with?â
Eddieâs frown only deepened at the question, âWho, Steve?â
âIs that his name?â The stranger asked, obviously interested.Â
At least he had good taste, Eddie had to give him that. Even if the question had his eye twitching, âYeah, thatâs his name.â
"So is he single or is the blonde a permanent fixture?" He asked.Â
Eddie snorted, âSheâs a permanent fixture, all right. But sheâs queer as a three-dollar bill, so not much to worry about there.â
That was the wrong answer if the excited look on his face was any indicator.Â
âYou know what kind of drink he likes?â He asked, already motioning for the bartender.Â
Eddie swallowed, the sick feeling coming back. The worst part is that he could see it. Steve with someone like this. Handsome, self-assured, confident. Actually comfortable in their own skin. He couldnât help but think they would look good together.Â
The thought just wasnât enough to stop Eddie from blurting, âOf course I do. Heâs my boyfriend after all.âÂ
Fuck, fuck, fuck, why did he just say that? Eddie bit the inside of his cheek at the stupid lie. At how easily it had rolled off his tongue.Â
âOh yeah?â He asked, disappointment coloring his voice.Â
Eddie had ample time to correct himself, to say my bad. Heâs my best friend. That was a slip of the tongue. To say anything else. Â
He doesnât.
No, not when the anxiety he had firmly nestled in the pit of his stomach finally started to soften. Besides, Eddie liked how disheartened he looked.Â
He liked it enough to keep lying his ass off. He took another sip of his beer, feigning casual, âHard to tell since the two of them have been hanging off each other all night. But yeah, heâs mine.â
He hadnât expected for those words to feel so good. Â
The guy sighed, âWell, good for you man. Heâs a looker, I doubt Iâm the only one who had my eyes on him.â
âHe has that effect on people,â Eddie said, his eyes trailing around the room. Watching every face that was looking Steveâs way. He hated it on them just as much as he did on the stranger next to him.Â
Fuck it, he was already in this deep. He might as well keep it going.
âFeel free to spread the word,â Eddie added as the guy stepped away, âIt will save me some time.â
âWill do,â He sighed again before walking off, setting his sights on someone else.Â
The bartender chuckled as he wandered off, clearly eavesdropping in, âYou want me to spread the word too? Iâve already got four guys who are looking to buy him a drink when he gets off the floor.â
Eddie was barely surprised.Â
âSpread it like wildfire,â He said easily, his eyes going straight back to Steve.
Part of him had expected some guilt when people started looking his way. Whispering to each other while Eddie glared at anyone who even looked like they wanted to get to Steve. He knew he could cut an intimidating figure when he wanted to. The way he dressed usually did most of the heavy lifting, but he didnât doubt how harshly his expressions were coming off. It also helped that every last guy who came to saddle up to the bartender to try and get a drink going for Steve walked away disappointed once he pointed a thumb towards Eddieâs direction. It definitely earned him a disproportionate tip, despite the fact the Eddie was internally freaking the fuck out.
He didnât feel guilty, but he felt⌠possessive. Offended almost that people didn't just assume he was taken. Something that he didnât know how to rationalize. But that didnât stop him from trying.Â

trios never work // satosugu x reader (business au)
-`âĄÂ´- pairing : gojo satoru x geto suguru x reader
-`âĄÂ´- summary : after they cut you out of their lives nine years ago, an unexpected reunion takes place. how do they react? what happens next?
-`âĄďż˝ďż˝- warnings : gangs. pet names, alcohol consumption. nothing else really

nine years. It had been nine years.Â
The first year felt unrealistic. It was strange. going from being side by side with each other almost 24/7 to no contact at all. [Name] didnât know what she did wrong, just that one day Satoru and Suguru decided they didnât want her in their life anymore.
She remembered everything of their last day together, every once in a while it would suddenly pop back up into her head, but in that first year, it replayed again and again; every day.
âSuguru!â [Name] had called out to one of the two teenage boys as she caught up to them âhi!âÂ
Suguru flung his arm around the girl's shoulders, pulling her into his side as she greeted Satoru.Â
âWhere have you been, doll? We were looking for you.âÂ
[Name] laughed as she grabbed their hands and pulled them along. âShoko and I accidentally forgot to sleep, so when I did fall asleep around ten I was doomed to wake up late.âÂ
The two boys looked at each other and smiled, the little ball of sunshine walking in front still pulling them along.Â
âSo four hours of sleep and already this energetic? you still gotta teach me that trick.â Satoru commented as he looked at her, shaking her head and rolling her eyes. She replied with a âreal magicians donât explain their best tricksâÂ
After they walked for a while, they finally reached the top of a mountain, looking down on the city below.Â
The beginning of summer break celebration was going on, kids from their private school and from public schools in the city came together to celebrate. Many people crowded the streets, there was music, and they could see everything perfectly.Â
âlook who knows the best spots once againâ
They had spent the entire afternoon on the top of that mountain since classes were canceled due to the celebration. Their fellow students were down there, having fun.
But as they were probably dancing and partying; Satoru took on the challenge to chase [Name] around the hill, she yelped and ran behind the other boy, clutching to the back of his shirt for protection as she heard the two boys negotiate.Â
âDonât you dare Suguru,â she warned, wrapping her arms around his waist from behind. He placed one of his hands on hers and suddenly pulled her to the front. âNot you too please! ah!â she yelped, but the next moment she was giggling, she could never stand a chance against their tickle war. Ever since they found out she was very ticklish a few years ago it had become a thing for them to annoy her with. Whenever it was if she were sad, annoyed, angry, or if they felt like it, the boys would look at each other and [Name] would run instantly if she saw. (Which she most of the time didnât and fell into their grasp giggling.)
Later at night they went back to the school, they had watched the sun set, then the fireworks, and then [name] and Satoru listened and looked in awe as Suguru pointed out constellations in the night sky. It was perfect.
At some point her eyes fell and she slept. The black haired boy looked down at her sleeping on Satoru's shoulder before giving a sad smile.Â
âShe will never forgive us.â
âBut at least we'll protect her.âÂ
The next morning when [name] woke up in the room she shared with Shoko there was a little note on her nightstand.
âyouâre gonna be okayâ in Satoruâs messy and rushed handwriting. She got dressed and ran out of her room, looking for her best friends. what did Satoru mean with that she was gonna be okay?
She looked all over the grounds, the dining hall, library, common rooms, classrooms, the fields and gardens. Eventually she decided to also check their dorm. Girls and boys werenât originally allowed in each other's dorm rooms, but since everyone was packing their stuff for summer the teachers didnât care. So she followed the familiar path towards the boys their shared room. The posters were gone from their door, but they probably took those down first she thought. [name] knocked on the door, no reaction. She opened the door to find it completely empty except for the furniture that belonged to the school.Â
Graduation was next week, why were they moved out already? For the last few years they always did that together. Where were they? As she turned around and bumped into Nanami, he looked just as confused as he took in the empty room.Â
He looked at her, his mouth opening but no sound coming out. She knew what he was gonna ask, âTheyâre putting their stuff into the car or?â
She showed him the note in her hand and Nanami just got more question marks behind his eyes.
For a week she wondered where they were, she held hope theyâd come knocking on her temporary apartment building her parents owned as she waited in the city for graduation. However; no knock came, no call, no letter or note, nothing. Gojo Satoru and Geto Suguru disappeared from the radar.
When graduation rolled around word went round that Gojo Satoru and Geto Suguru would not be attending. They had waited for this moment for she didnât know how long. Plans were made to go out with their other friends after, they had plans for the future! But now, instead of her two best friends cheering on her louder than anyone else as she held her valedictorian speech, her other friends cheered double as hard. They knew sheâd been struggling this week. Shoko had crashed at her temporary apartment since she didnât want to deal with her parents. Nanami also came by daily, and if they hadnât been there, no one wouldâve known what wouldâve happened to [name].
The second year was still unbearable. [Name] worked a lot, saving money, attending college, going out with her friends on the weekends. She often found herself looking to her sides, expecting to see one of her two former best friends walking there. She always looked for them in crowds, she looked everywhere, but they were nowhere to be found.Â
In the third year [name] finally figured out her future. She was in her third year of college but decided to drop out. She saved a lot of money, and she was relatively well off so she bought a building in the busy city and within six months the place opened to a magnificent night club and partially a cafe two times a week. It took a lot of promotion, and a lot of patience until the place blew up.Â
In just the first year that it opened, she gained so much she paid off the entire loan of the building. It hit off with people her age, and at just nineteen [name] was going to become one of the youngest millionaires of her time, she just didnât know it yet.
Her friends loved the place too, and they were immensely proud of [name] after what she had gone through a few years prior. She proved to the world that the only person she truly needed was herself and that she could do whatever she wanted to.
The second year after opening the fourth without Gojo and Geto [name] opened a second location of her club across the world in Los Angeles.Â
And now nine years later, and six locations in Tokyo, Los Angeles, Amsterdam, NYC, Paris and London [Name] had in fact become the fastest growing self made millionaire at her age. She lived in Beverly Hills, had her own place designed and built and she was living the life.Â
Now; in her bathroom it was still a calm Saturday night but she knew that in an hour she would be in her own club, observing the people as she sipped on her drink. Saturdays were the busiest; first day of the weekend but that also meant a lot of money.Â
âScarlett?â [name] called out to her assistant who walked towards the entrance of the bathroom. âTake two weeks off, alright? Paid vacation of course, take your wife anywhere you want, put it on my bill. Itâs summer and you havenât been on a break since last year. Itâs not up for debate.â She was fixing the last strands of her hair before turning towards the woman in her doorframe who looked a bit ill at her words. âNow, how do I look?â she gave Scarlett a smile.Â
âAs beautiful as always. And⌠Are you sure youâll be fine? I mean⌠Two weeks is a lot.â Scarlett loved her job, not because it paid well, or because her boss was very generous. She loved her job because her boss felt more like a close friend rather than a boss.Â
âYouâre right, make it three weeks. You deserve it, you and your wife both. Iâll be fine, I know how to start a washer and dryer, I know how to do the dishes. What else would I need? Now, have fun on your vacation, you better send me pics, and have fun! I gotta get going now though cause I'm already late.â
Scarlett still looked a bit sick as she bid farewell to her boss, but at least she could finally take a break, which she was too shy to admit she actually needed.
[Name] walked through the front door of the club, she didnât pick favorites is what she told others, but the location here in LA and the one in Paris were definitely her favorites of the six she owned. The music was beaming, lights flashing and the scent of alcohol and sweat hung in the air. Security guards nodded at her in a silent greeting as she made her way to her office, one of them trailing her for her own protection. Tonight was going to be a good night, she thought as she poured herself a drink, quickly drowning it before taking a glance at the paperwork that had been assembled on her desk during the last few days. Sheâd take it home when she left tonight. The security guard opened the door again and waited for her to lock it, after she gave him the signal he didnât have to trail her tonight.
She walked past the VIP area, making some small conversations with people sheâd seen before. There were new faces too, there always were. All different types of âem too. It was a safe space as well as a club. She stopped at Tojiâs table, how he and her met was a long story. Everyone at [Name] her boarding school knew of the Zenâin family and their generations at the school, same as the Gojo family, as well as her own. Sheâd seen him here at the club one day a few years ago, standing at the bar and damn he looked familiar she had thought. It soon clicked in her head and she walked up to him.Â
âZenâin?â she had called as she stood behind him.
âFushiguro now actually, took my wife's last name.â he said as he turned around, looking at the young woman in front of him. âWait,â he had studied her face, until his eyes landed on the obvious giveaway of her family â[last name]?â. She nodded and smiled in response to his guess. âNever thought Iâd see one of you all the way out here.âÂ
âWell, someone has to be the millionaire of the family.â Tojiâs eyes widened as he asked for more details, giving an impressed grin when he found out she was the owner.Â
âYou got it good, girl. I wouldnât have suspected you to be the type.âÂ
âHello again, itâs been a while.â She sat down on the couch next to him, observing the people as they danced to the music. There were some empty glasses in front of him but Toji seemed rather sober.
â[Last name], you look good tonight.â he gave her a grin, it had been a few years since his wife died, the first few years were a mess for him, he was in here every night drinking away his grief. But over the years he had come to accept her passing and actually started taking care of his son again. Now he came every weekend, mostly just Saturdays since that's when his son was at his friendsâ or godfathers house. âThank you,â she smiled at him, smoothing out the satin dress on her body. âHowâs Megs?â She hadnât seen either of them âcause theyâd been residing in Japan for a while. Toji smiled at the mention of his son. It took him too long to realize that the little boy was his light in life, his wife lived on in him and oh he was amazing.Â
âHeâs fine, great actually. He graduated from Jujutsu High a few weeks agoâŚâ as Toji said that an old but familiar scent hit [name] her nostrils and she immediately turned her head around but didnât find what she smelled. âIt was amazing to see him receive his diploma. To be really honest, a few years ago I thought Iâd never be back at that place again after I graduated years and years ago myself.âÂ
âHeâs so grown up already, I can remember when you told me he just started.â [Name] turned her head back towards her friend with a smile that didnât quite meet her eyes. âAnd to be fair, I donât think Iâll ever return to Jujutsu High again, no matter the reason.â there was a reason- there were simply too many memories there that she had tried her hardest to forget. Those memories being the ones she just smelled.
The mixed scent of sweet floral yet strong cologne and a really overwhelming smell of pine and vanilla still hung faintly in the air.
It canât be, she thought. Her mind was just playing tricks on her because Toji had her remember things she didnât want to. Thereâs no way.Â
Yet when she bid farewell to Toji and walked towards the bar she smelled it again. The bartenders didnât look up when she walked behind the bar and poured herself a drink, yet she overheard their conversations.Â
âThat man's eyes⌠wow! Iâve never seen anyone with eyes that bright!â
Itâs not him. Theyâre not here.
âBut the other one! His shoulders⌠my god.â
[Name] walked away before sheâd drive herself insane over this. There was no way they were here. If they were, she wouldâve spotted them already. Even though a decade can change a lot about a person; Gojoâs bright blue eyes and bright hair and Getoâs long dark hair and muscled figure always stood out, especially when together.
She wasnât even sure if theyâd recognise her. She cut her hair, the final stages of puberty hit her later so she got some more curves and flesh, her style had changed and so had her personality. Though deep down she knew that if sheâd ever see those two boys again, sheâd turn back into her old bubbly self if it took too long. She always had a soft spot for them, no matter what happened or how much she denied it, they would always be a part of her past. Toji had also once told her she walked around like she owned the place, to which she replied that she did. Heâd given her credit for the remark and sheâd told him to put things on her tab that night.
With a racing heart she went back to observing the crowds. Walking alongside tables, along the dancefloor, everywhere.Â
Theres no way these two fucks still wear the same cologne after years.
She sipped her drink, it burned in her throat, but it wasn't unpleasant. She walked towards the staircase for staff and security. All the way up it overlooked the layout of the building and she could spot things easier.Â
Iâm going to drive myself insane by looking for people that arenât-
Her train of thoughts stopped when she saw a mob of bright white hair, she stared at it for ten seconds before looking at the person's face and she felt her head get light, looking besides him she saw a familiar black haired man.
Fuck.
She turned around, not being able to look anymore. The top of the stairs wasn't lit, so the chance they wouldâve seen her was slim, very slim. [Name] sunk to the ground and drowned her drink in one go, this time the burn lasted longer and she closed her eyes. A few years ago she had promised herself that if sheâd ever find them in her club- her property, sheâd get them kicked out. Yet now that she found them, that seemed impossible. She couldnât just walk up to them and tell them to get out of here.Â
Why not?
Why not? There was no reason as to why not. As she said, it was her property, she could do whatever she wanted and before she realized it herself she was already making her way to the table they were sitting at.Â
The music seemed to dim, the world became clearer yet also blurrier as she stood in front of them.Â
âGet the fuck out of my place.â she said, there was anger and aggression in her voice as she looked at them. âNow.âÂ
Gojo and Geto both looked up at the person speaking to them. Geto had to do a double take as he took in the woman before him, but Gojoâs heart and smile dropped instantly.
âGet out. Youâll be okay.â her own eyes met Gojoâs blue ones, sending back his own words he left on that note nine years ago.
[Name] raised her eyebrows in amusement as she looked at the two men infront of her. They changed so much, yet nothing at all. Sheâd wait sixty seconds before she would raise her hand and look to the side to call security.Â
â[N-name]? What are you doing here?â Gojo stuttered.Â
âRunning my club, what about you?â she smiled sarcastically before glaring at him. âLeave. You two wanted me out of your life, now I want you two out of mine. Leave and never show your face here, or at any of my locations, ever again. You have one minute before I call security.â
Geto stared at her with wide eyes, the woman in front of him was not the one they left behind nine years ago. There was no sign of silly jokes and giggles, lit up eyes and playful eyerolls.Â
This woman was cold. That was the only word that came to Getoâs mind. There was no love in her eyes anymore, her spark wasn't the same. And the worst part of it was that Gojo and he were probably the reason for it.
âHa! Look who it is, man I didnât expect you here. Isnât Megs at your place?â Toji suddenly appeared out of nowhere and his words made [name] even more lightheaded. He wrapped his arm around her waist briefly, a small sign of affection and recognition as they exchanged glances. âYou know them?â she asked Toji who enthusiastically replied.
âYeah! Blue eyes is Megumiâs godfather, didnât I tell ya? But I was just gonna head back out, got an emergency meeting first thing tomorrow. See ya [name], take care of yourself, alright?â he waved goodbye to Gojo and Geto and walked out.Â
Great. Fucking great.
She closed her eyes and took a deep breath.Â
Donât you dare. Donât you fucking-
âFollow me, no questions and you'll walk out of here unharmed.â she spoke in a cold tone before turning around and making her way to her office.Â
What the fuck was happening. Who had cursed this upon her?
She unlocked the door to her office and walked in, pouring herself another drink as the two men came in. âSit.â
They did as she said and sat down in the chairs facing the desk. Gojo sneaked a look at one of the papers on her desk. It showed the gain of the last month. That was more than his and Getoâs company made⌠in three monthsâŚ
He quickly sat back when she turned around and sat in the desk chair with her drink in hand. It was a fancy black one, CEOâs would have it- he had one alike.
âI thought you didnât drink.â Gojo said, trying to make small talk.
âAnd I thought weâd be friends forever.â She took a sip of her drink, looking at both of them before speaking again. âExplain. You have ten minutes, and I am solely doing this for the sake of Toji and Megs cause I will not let them know we are on bad terms.â
They stared at her. Nine years ago she would have blushed and tried to hide away or scold them to stop, but now she stared back, no trace of blushing on her cheeks.
âGet to it. Weâre adults now, we both have running businesses. So let's get over it.â
Geto sighed, this was more complicated than the situation nine years ago was. Or maybe explaining it nine years ago wouldâve been easier, [name] was easier then. Not in a bad way, she changed, they all did, but Geto had the feeling that she wouldâve understood it better back then rather than now. Both Gojo and Geto felt the anger radiating off her, she looked like she could in fact kill both of them right now.
âWe got mixed up with the wrong people in our last year.â Gojo suddenly said and she huffed in annoyance but kept quiet. âYou know we were already making plans for our business back then, we tried to make some ties here and there and a particular branch of people scammed us. Thatâs how we met Toji too, he was mixed up with the same people. They had known I came from money and so they stalked us around, even at school. Pretty soon they found how close we were with you and before we knew it they had entire records open on you. Where you lived, who your parents are, all that type of things! They found your birth certificate! With that came that they found out you came from money too- old money. So they started with threatening to keep us hostage âtill you paid them a fine, knowing you would.Â
After we complied and gave them some money they continued with the blackmail. They came to us with pictures of you asleep, during class, free time, of your apartment in the city. They said theyâd kidnap you, said what theyâd do to you if we wouldnât give them more money once our business grew. They knew it would grow because of my father, so we had to cut ties with you to protect you. On the last night-â
âEnough.â She took a long sip of her drink and threw her head back. âYou know how much this sounds like bullshit? Protect me or theyâd kidnap me and torture me unless-literally speaking-you payed them a fuck ton of money. You couldâve fucking told me? You couldâve waited âtill after graduation? Yet you decided not to knowing I would be a fucking wreck for years upon years. And then suddenly, after almost a decade you show up in my club acting like a bunch of fucking pussies. The boys I knew wouldnât pull shit like that! Theyâd fight cause theyâre rich private school jackasses who wouldnât back out of a fight, nor abandon their best friend simply because some fuckers threatened to hurt her! This couldâve easily been fucking figured out because for fucks sake Gojo! You! You are the heir to one of the oldest bloodlines in country, and so am I so I personally do not see where the fucking problem lies in that it could not have been resolved! And you- no. Donât you both see the logic in this?â She took a deep breath and looked them both in the eye. âI am drunk alright but even I can see this is bullshit.â
She threw her head back again and took a deep breath and exhaled it.
âYou donât know how scared we were to lose you to them, [name]!â Geto looked at her, but she was looking at the boring white ceiling. âYeah, well. You lost me because of your fears of losing me.âÂ
Silence hung in the air for a minute or so as she let those words sink in.
Don't do it. Do not do it. It doesn't matter how close you used to be with them. It doesnât matter that they took your v-
âOkay here's the deal. It's friday, or well saturday by now probably. Tuesday this place is a cafe, like it is two times a week. You both come here at ten AM, and well talk then, cause again I am fucking drunk.â rolling her head back and looking at them she sighed âNow get out.âÂ
Gojo and Geto gave each other a look, then looked back at [Name]. She looked back, even though her eyes were a bit bloodshot and teary, her gaze was filled with anything but care and love. Geto took a deep breath before standing up. âWill you get home safely?â He asked and she could see there was genuine concern in his eyes as he frowned a little.
âIâll call my assistant to come and get me.â She rolled her eyes and gave them another look that told them to get out.
Only [Name] forgot that she had sent Scarlett on vacation, so when she dialed her number it went straight to voicemail. She walked out of the club with the stack of paperwork from earlier in her hands and called an uber. The driver said he was near and there within a minute, so when eventually a black car stopped in front of her she got in. Vaguely she heard him ask for her destination and she gave her address.Â
Tonight hadnât gone as planned, at all. She had expected a calm evening but it was anything but. [Name] had always thought she was over it, over them, or at least for the biggest part. There were always small reminders of them in everything she did or had. But she really thought sheâd be able to kick them out, out of her club and out of her life just like theyâd done to her. Their explanationâit made sense but it didnât. Sure she knew they were busy setting up their business, she knew they were making connections. But stalking? The threats? It seemed unreal, yet it was known that around that time there was a peak of criminal groups disguising as business people in Japan.Â
[Name] searched for her wallet and pulled out three bills of twenty when the car stopped in front of the gate to her home.Â
âKeep the change.â she said and stumbled out, typing in the code of the gate and walking in. She stood still for a moment, looking up at the sky before collapsing on the grass. LA didnât give the best view of the stars, yet she stared at them anyways, the moonlight shining down on her. It didnât take long before her eyes closed and she fell asleep under the stars.
Satoru and Suguru watched the woman collapse on the grass and they jumped out of the car. How she hadnât noticed it wasnât her UBER, they didnât know. The gate closed just before the two men could reach it.
Satoru slammed on the gate, while the other used his brain and looked at the numbers. Three of them were slightly stained with a black substanceâprobably mascara that [name] had rubbed onto her hand when she rubbed her eyes.
Suddenly Suguru saw it, those three numbers were the first three numbers of his birthday.
âOver us, my ass.â he said as he typed in his birthday on the keypad.Â
The other looked over at him and stared as the gate opened. âHowâd you do that?â âIt was my birthday.â they were both a bit dumbfounded by it, but neither of them would be lying if they denied her birthday was also still their phone password.Â
Once the gate was open enough they ran through it. The once nicely stacked papers were now sprawled around her as her chest slowly rose up and down. Suguru rushed towards the papers, those were finance and he knew sheâd be pissed if they flew away. Satoru ran to get the woman off the grass, he mentioned for Suguru to grab her purse and fish out her keys as he carried her to the front door.Â
âFucking hell sweetheart, you never fail to get us concerned do you?â Satoru held her tightly as Suguru opened the door with the sixth key he tried. They stared in awe as the lights turned on. Yeah, this is definitely a [Name] house. âCouch?âÂ
âShe never liked sleeping on couches, letâs just find her room.â
The two men wandered around the massive house, looking inside every room in the hopes it was her personal bedroom. They stumbled across her office, multiple empty bedroomsâand bathrooms, tons of dead ends, and lots and lots of paintings. But finally when they took one corner it became clear this was where [name] spent most of her time. They opened the biggest door and it revealed a bedroom, adorned with adorable furniture and picture frames, and of course more art. This was definitely her room.Â
Suguru looked at pictures of a teen [name] with Shoko, next to it stood a picture of Nanamiâwhich didnât seem to be a very old picture. He saw lots of familiar faces. Even some of Megumi and his friends. In the meantime Satoru had carried her to her bed and laid her down.
âWe either wake her up and get yelled at, or we leave her like this and sheâll wake up feeling terrible.â Satoru turned on the light on the nightstand and looked at his best friend.Â
To be completely honestâthey hadnât known they were in her club tonight. They both knew she owned a chain of clubs, just like how she probably knew about their business. Their surprise to see her had been much alike to [name] except for the hatred. Both of them had said it. That sheâd hate them once they left, and she did, they saw the anger this evening. Though it was a surprise she didnât turn violent, not that [name] was aggressive or anything, but what would any sane person do when theyâd see the person who made their life miserable by leaving her alone?Â
It was probably Tojiâs appearance who stopped her from doing that.Â
âOr we do our best to make her comfortable cause she ainât gonna be sleeping well in that. If she wakes up we accept the result. If she doesnât; we leave as quietly as possible and see her tuesday.â Geto proposed and already turned to what he assumed was a walk in closet.Â
He blindly grabbed a t-shirt and a pair of shorts from a random drawer and walked back out. As the two stood beside the bed looking at the sleeping woman another wave of realization hit them but it soon faded away and they got to action. Sure it was a bit weird they were changing their former best friend's clothes while she was sleeping, but theyâd rather have her comfortable rather than ripping an expensive looking dress.
You just do this because you want to make up for the time you lost with her.
It wasnât the first time they had changed her clothes, saw her shirtless or passed out. Yet it was a very different situation now. Nine years had passed.Â
It took them a while, and some whispered curses and confusion of the dress [Name] was wearing later, they stood back and watched as she lay there, sleeping. Satoru had gone to get a clean glass of water for on her bedside while Suguru tucked her into bed.Â
âYouâd definitely have our heads if you knew we were hereâŚâ he spoke as he gently lifted her head to get the hair out of her neck. Thatâs when he realized she also still had make-up on, best leave that for her to do when she wakes up, Suguru thought.
âScarlett? Scar donât forgetâŚâ Suguru froze as he watched [Name] stir in her sleep. He carefully reached out and placed a hand on her head.
âGo back to sleep, pretty girl.â He closed his eyes, the sound of her voice hadnât changed, though when they talked earlier it was rougher, there was hatred in her voice. Now her voice was soft and calm, like it had been all those years ago.
Theyâd spent summers at each other's houses, mostly Satoruâs or [Name]âs, and every morning the boys would hear that soft, whiney, sleepy voice and theyâd just melt. Surrender whatever and tickle and smother the girl in hugs and kisses.Â
Some outsiders called them âlike siblingsâ , some said the three could argue like a married bunch, others said they were invisibly bonded, like a string always connecting them wherever they went, always coming back to each other.
Suguru kneeled beside the bed, looking around the room. Though [Name] may be in her late twenties, the way she decorated her room was still the same as in her high school days. Picture frames with pictures of friends everywhere, posters of shows, bands, movies on the walls. Plants here and there, a pile of laundry on the floor along with some dishes.Â
Her bedside table adorned a book, a cute lamp Satoru turned on earlier, some flowers, another picture frame with a picture of her with some friends⌠No, not just some friends.Â
It was [Name], with Satoru and himself.
Suguru swallowed, he remembered the day that picture was taken all too well. It had been their last first day at Jujutsu High, also known as their first day of senior year. God, they were all young then, Suguru thought. Young and clueless. No idea what was bound to happen not many months later.Â
Originally the picture was just meant to be of [Name], but the two boys had decided to photobomb, so it was [Name] cutely standing in front of the camera, and then two teenage boys coming up behind her with weird faces. The girl absolutely adored the photo, it had been on her night stand ever since she got the photos back on paper.
Suguru cast his eyes down to the floor before the door opened and Satoru came in, nearly on his tippy toes to try and make as little sound as possible. âGot the water, letâs⌠whatâs wrong?â
âNothing, letâs get out of here before we wake her up.â
When [Name] woke up the next morning she had zero recollection of what happened after she exited the UBER. To her surprise, she was no longer in her dress, wearing clothes she hadnât seen in years, ones she tucked away after high school ended and never looked back on.Â
She noted the freshwater and aspirins on her bedside table. Her dress from the night prior neatly folded and put on her vanity stool.Â
Odd. She thought as she got up out of bed. She also found her phone on her bedside table, plugged into the charger, on do not disturb. Very odd.Â
She opened up her phone, seeing hundreds of messages from Scarlett, and as she opened them the woman herself called.Â
â[Name]? Thank god, are you alright? What were they doing carrying you?â Scarlett immediately bombarded her with questions, and [Name] could not phantom what she was talking about at all.Â
As Scarlett continued talking [Name] walked to the bathroom and looked in the mirror just as Scarlett spoke words she did not want to hear at all.
âWhat were the owners of S&S Industries doing inside of your house?â
Tuesday rolled around in a haze. The weekend was a blur, [Name] was not prepared for the day to come. This was the exact reason she always had Scarlett make her appointments.Â
She arrived at the location an hour early, making sure everything looked better than good. It had to be. Her staff had welcomed her with a warm welcome, big smiles and kind words, as always. She told them an important meeting of sorts would be taking place around ten and to be polite, solely to tell them again how important it was.Â
Out of pure coincidence, Megumi and his friends showed up ten minutes before ten, distracting [Name] from the nerves that were eating away at her. She was sitting down in a booth in the center of the cafe, Nobara and Megumi sitting next to her as Yuji ordered him and his two friends breakfast. It was always nice to have the kids come by, have breakfast with them, today was just really unfortunate.Â
âYou kids will have to pick another table to eat at, yes? I have a meeting here in a bit.â She looked at Megumi, noting how much he looked like his father. Her phone chimed, and the time told her it was a mere five more minutes before she had to face themâsober.
âBusiness meeting? More locations? Important? Collabs?â Nobara looked at her with big eyes, [Name] adored the younger girl, she reminded her of her younger self a lot, and she guessed Nobara saw her as a big sister, always clinging to her side when the two saw each other.Â
âNot quite, just⌠some people from high school, but you have to promise me not to give any weird looks when you see them, okay?âÂ
She looked at them again, their confused looks bringing a nervous smile on [Name] her face as she shooed them away when the door opened.Â
âTell your dad I said hi.â she messed up his hair before walking towards the two men in the entrance.
Enough hours were spent trying to come up with what to say at this exact moment, she had so many options, yet none came to mind as she looked up at them.Â
[Name] looked up at the two men and swallowed, her head felt light as she offered a small smileâalready regretting everything.
âHi, welcome.â she dipped her head out of respect before turning around and mentioning for them to follow her. She spared the kids a look, and as expected they were staring at the trio with big confused eyes. Oh how much they looked like Gojo, Geto and herself when they were younger, and she could only hope they wouldnât meet the same fate.
Once they were seated in the booth a waiter came by and took their orders, which were still the exact same as a decade ago.Â
âItâs a nice place you build here.â Geto was the first to speak up.Â
Hesitantly [Name] looked up at him and smiled, âParis is even better, bought this old place, renovated it completely but kept the old looks on the inside. It took a while but itâs perfectâŚâ She again looked at the kids, Nobara was already looking at her and offered her a thumbs up. âSo, Megsâ godfather huh?â Gojo met her eyes over his sunglasses he still wore, guilt was evident in them.
He nodded softly, âYeah⌠Saved Toji from one of the gangs we got mixed up with, he made me his godfather about a year later. What about you and Toji?âÂ
âMe and Toji? In what way?â She raised her eyebrows, knowing fully well what he meant. âToji is a family associate, loyal customer, and a great friend. Nothing more. A bit too old for me.â
Silence fell over them again until their drinks arrived. The air was tense, guilt and regret hung in the air as well as sadness and anger. It wouldnât take much for [Name] to burst out in tears. For the first time in years she was at arms length of her best friends, she looked at them and savored the moment even though they hurt her so badly.
Gojo still stirred sugar through his coffee as he sat in the middle seat, stealing Getoâs small cookie when he wasn't looking. His hair still messy but not messy messy, his undercut now much more noticeable than when they were teens and still those cursed sunglasses that hid his mesmerizing blue eyes.
Grew up to meet the Disney prince standards. [Name] thought.
Geto⌠His hair was longer, half put up, half falling down his back. He put on more muscle, a small smile still always present on his face, soft and caring eyes staring back at her as she took him in.
Oh fuck.Â
âYouâre staring, doll.âÂ
She flushed, blood rushing to her cheeks as she got caught. She swallowed, saying the first best thing that came to mind.
âIt was a real asshole move, you know. Nine years ago. It really fuckinâ hurt and it couldâve been atleast brought to me in a slightly better way.â
You didnât have to cut me off completely out of nowhere. Was what she meant to say, but she knew the boys got the message already as they dipped their heads.Â
âIt took me four years to stop looking to my sides for either of you, I couldnât sleep in my family home anymore cause every meter of the premises reminded me of you. I never stopped looking for you in crowds, I never stopped smelling ghosts of your scents wherever I went. I never had the nerve to throw out pictures of you, of us. I never changed my phone password, I- I never got over it, over you two.âÂ
[Name] had tears in the corners of her eyes as she grabbed her tea to calm herself. Every inch of her just needed to tell them everything. How she felt, how it hurt. Everything.
Her lips quivered when a hand took her mug out of her hands and arms wrapped around her. The smell of a strong cologne filled her senses and that was all it took for the tears to fall. She was pulled closer until she could feel the material of his sweater on her cheek. Suguru Geto was hugging her for the first time in nine years. A feeling she never thought sheâd feel again as she held onto him for dear life.Â
Somewhere in her mind [Name] remembered what she thought not too long ago. If I stay around them for too long I'll go back to my old self in no time.Â
âEasy, doll, weâre not going anywhere... Not again.â Suguru whispered softly rubbing soothing circles on her back as he held her close. âItâs okay, shh.âÂ
He slowly rocked them back and forth, locking eyes with Satoru who was having a hard time holding his emotions in check. Gojo also didnât dare spare the kids not too far away a look, not knowing howâd they react to the scene in front of them.
Carefully Satoru sat up and reached out to [Name], her head still half shielded away by one of Suguruâs hands. When their eyes locked she broke free from the other man and embraced him.
âAlways stealing the ladies away from me,â
âYeah, well, I think there's no more need for other ladies now that we have the best one of all back.â

âYou look pretty today.â
Jihoon from corporate communication usually has a sarcastic quip for you when you cross paths in the copy room. Where humor comes easy for him, annoyance comes easy for you the same. You both seem to get on each otherâs nerves in all the right ways; never enough to report the other to HR, but enough that youâd steer clear of him the entire day if he said something that got under your skin. Something like, âWhyâs marketingâs posters suck so bad?â Heâll ask, and subsequently answer himself with, âOh, thatâs right. âCause youâre the one making them.â Either he doesnât know you spend so much time figuring out which design looks best, or he knows and purposely wants to get you riled up. It works, because youâre an emotional person and if someone criticizes your work, it feels like a personal attack.
This time, though, youâre making flyers for the office yard sale slash fundraiser, and heâs making copies of coupons for the local stores. Since there are about forty floors in your building, youâll easily be occupied for at least two hours, hanging multiple flyers on each floor. Jihoon has his hands full as well, he makes one hundred copies for each store, with there being four stores total in the area. Luckily, you go to the copier first, so when he walks in, you quickly rest with a smug smile on your face.
âHey,â he says casually. Youâre waiting for him to tell you to hurry your ass up on the copier but he doesnât. Hey?
Instead, you respond, âHi,â and turn back to the copier to see how many sheets are left. Still sixty five.
âYou look pretty today.â He tries next. You almost hit cancel on the print job right then and there. How can he say something like that. You look pretty today? Try again, Lee! Itâs not gonna work!
You donât immediately thank him for his compliment. You just think that somehow, heâll add in a ââpretty ugly!â and then laugh it off. Thatâs the Jihoon you know. Not this âheyâ man. Usually when you walk into the copy room, he groans and rolls his eyes. He always has a dig ready, too. âDidnât realise it was loser day at the copy machine.â Heâd say. You always have something to come back at him with. âMust be why youâre here.â It doesnât seem like heâll bicker with you today at all.
The display on the machine says thereâs still forty sheets left. That means you can either pretend you left something at your desk and quickly exit the room until itâs done, or you can brave it and see what this guy is up to.
The second one. âI look pretty today? What are you up to?â You narrow your eyes at him, assuming thereâs either a catch or some sort of joke hidden in his praise.
âNo gimmicks,â he shrugs. âI just call it like I see it.â Oh, okay.
Heâs standing on one side of the machine with you at the other. The polite smile stained on his face drives you up a wall. You feel like if you reciprocate it, itâll be overkill. Him complimenting you doesnât change the fact that you are office enemies. His team and your team often clash, as theyâre the ones that share your teamâs ideas with the higher ups, only after an intense filtering which often strips your ideas down to nothing. It always sucks because he acts so smug about it when your ideas donât get pitched how you envisioned them. âGet some better ideas then,â heâd say. Of course, you canât go out like that, so you tell him âTell your team to think of one idea to begin with. You get your rocks off by stealing ours, your department would be helpless without us.â Itâs mostly true, but sometimes, Jihoon has good ideas. When you two are having a good day, youâll show each other ideas and give helpful feedback. But that usually doesnât happen if either one of you has a quip locked and loaded already.
âDidnât realise your mouth was able to produce compliments when it comes to me.â Twenty two sheets left. He reaches over you for the mini scotch tape. âYou know, usually when someone compliments you, you just say thank you and forget about it in five minutes.â While he focuses on his task with the tape, you stare at the display on the copier and watch the number of sheets remaining go down, just so you donât have to look at him.
Heâs never called you pretty before. You need everyone to understand this. The only times he compliments you are rare and theyâre always work related. Nice job during that tug of war. Those prints look great. These tchotchke designs would surely sell well. The dessert you brought to the potluck was delicious.
New to the list: you look pretty today.
Youâre not sure how to feel internally, but externally, your mind is already made up. Youâre annoyed. How could he say something like that with such a serious face and not be joking? Why couldnât he be joking?
âI would say thank you, but I donât know what this is.â He raises his eyebrows at your comment. âThis? I donât know what it is either because I canât figure out what youâre talking about.â
The copier chimes to tell you the print job is finished. You log out of the machine and move aside to collect your sheets. Youâll definitely have to make a second tripâand perhaps with a box of some sort to hold all of the sheetsâbut you just want to leave this room.
Jihoon starts to grab a stack of the sheets as well. âWhere are these going?â He asks, sounding nothing but sincere.
âDonât know yet. I have to put them on each floor, though. Iâll find something to put them in in a little bit.â
âDâyou need help?â
You set the sheets down. âOkay, listen. I was fine playing that game three minutes ago, but I donât get it. Every day you look at me like the bane of your existence. You tell me my designs suck, you only fill my tea mug halfway when I ask for some, and you hog the copy machine whenever I need to use it. What gives?â
It would be hard to refute the fact that Jihoon is very handsome, and you have imagined an alternate universe where he was nice to you and even flirted with you, but nothing past that. Youâve never thought of what it would be like to be his girlfriend, to wake up in the morning beside him, to have him fill your tea mug up until itâs full, to meet in the copy room to steal a few extra kissesâokay, maybe a couple times youâve thought of this. But it almost always gets overshadowed by his behaviour towards you. He is rude to you. He doesnât like you enough to give up the act, but he also doesnât hate you enough to ignore you completely. He has some sort of balance that only works with you. He playfully fights with other coworkers, but only as a stand-alone. Your feud is cemented into the very foundations of the building you each show up to every morning at seven oâclock on the dot. Itâs ritualistic. Itâs familiar. It sucks.
Jihoon leans against the wall and crosses his arms. âWhat gives? I just think you look pretty today. Canât a man compliment his pretty coworker once? Itâs really not that unheard of, but if you think something else is going on, youâre right. I like you. I never said it before because I assumed you also liked me which is why we do what we do, but Iâm getting the feeling you donât feel the same way which is fine. We can just go back to how we were and forget this ever happened.â
You take the stack of copies you were holding before and quickly leave the room. Once theyâre placed on your desk, you awkwardly make your way back to the copy room and get the next set of sheets. Jihoon hasnât moved from his position against the wall even after youâve signed off of the machine and relocated the copies out of the way.
Truthfully, you just didnât know what to say. Him confessing this way was not only unexpected, but also a bit annoying. To think, heâs liked you all this time but consistently and routinely found enjoyment in belittling you. Granted, you also took part in it against him, but only as retaliation and defense for yourself. The whole reason this rivalry started was because he made a comment against you. Why would you be mean to someone you like?
The week goes by slowly without Jihoonâs teasing. He comes by your cubicle once to offer you a mini cupcake from the convenience store on the fifth floor. You decline. He doesnât come back again.
You thought of pulling him aside to really unpack and discuss everything, but then you consider how much worse it could get if you do that. Things are already pretty bad if neither of you have spoken or even just said hi to each other.
By Friday of the next week, though, youâve had it with the silence. Your cubicle conveniently is in view of the copy room so you slyly watch the door waiting for Jihoon to go in there. He always prints to-do sheets on Friday for everyone in his department for the following week. At eleven on the dot, you see him disappear in there and you make your move immediately, booking it for the room.
You casually walk in and shut the door, but not before making sure no one was coming. No one really likes it when the door to the copy room is shut because people have been caught doing ⌠things in there, but this shouldnât take you long. Definitely not enough time to do ⌠things with anyone.
âHey,â You try, in the same tone as he used with you last week. He looks up from the machine and gives you a confused yet tired look. âWhat are you doing?â He sighs.
âYou look pretty today.â You smile, hopping up on the counter and swinging your legs. He finishes signing in on the printer and runs his print job. He turns around to face you fully. âIf youâre here to make fun of me for being nice to you, I think itâs best you stop now because I donât find it amusing.â
You grin at him. âThe opposite actually. I think itâs cute that you like me, but I really wish you wouldâve asked me on a date first. And maybe just been nicer to begin with?â Both your eyes dart to the door as a polite knock is heard from the outside. You jump down from the counter and place your hands on Jihoonâs shoulders from behind. Your head rounds the side of his face. âWalk me to my car later?â And he agrees.
You go to let the person in and see yourself out. It feels a bit elementary, that proposal. Walk me to my car? gives the same energy as walk me home from the bus stop? and if you werenât already getting some twisted wave of dĂŠjĂ vu, you definitely are now.
You didnât know Jihoon until last year when he started working for this company. The previous person in his position suffered an extreme illness that forced them to resign so he promptly had to fill their position. He wasnât trained that well, but heâs done the best he could thus far. You donât know what you would do if he wasnât in the office. Of course, some of your coworkers are also people you get drinks with from time to time, but Jihoon feels the most⌠familiar. Despite having never met with him outside of the office, he feels like the most grounding person since he doesnât put on any front or act with you. You wouldnât let him either. Thatâs why his confession feels so out of left field on the one hand, but normal on the other. He doesnât hide how he feels from you, but he must have if heâs liked you and hasnât said it until now.
Later comes. Itâs 3:42 PM when you finally wrap it up for the day. Jihoon usually leaves earlier than you, but it appears he waited to clock out so you two would leave at the same time.
Okay, youâll admit thatâs sweet. You donât think youâd do the same for him, but only because you donât like your job enough to stay any later.
He meets you at your cubicle. âAll done?â He asks, moving into your space to help you with your things. âYep. If you could just carry this bag for me, that would be great, thank you.â He takes the bag from you with no qualms and waits patiently as you gather the rest of your belongings.
You were sadly unable to finish all the work you meant to get done today, so youâre leaving with a bit of homeworkânamely designing some flyers for part two of the yard sale slash fundraiser. The first fundraiser didnât go as planned, so the upper level management suggested a second instalment.
Jihoon probably has the same amount of work too, so you wonder how heâs leaving the office empty handed.
On the elevator ride down, neither of you say anything. All you do is stare at the bright red floor descent display and wait until it gets to 1. Upon this happening, Jihoon lets you off first and you lead the way to the parking garage.
âI take it you didnât get a lot done today?â He wonders, surveying the various items youâre carrying. âSadly. Honestly, if Claudette hadnât announced the second fundraiser, Iâd be as carefree and empty handed as you.â You meant to come off as nonchalant, but judging by the way Jihoon completely stopped in his tracks upon your completion of the sentence, it was everything but that. âCarefree and empty handed?â He parrots in disbelief.
âCC is scrambling to get Q3 numbers up before having to report to corporate and nothing is working. Honestly, if Claudette didnât conjure up another fundraiser, you wouldâve had to find another sad sap to carry your things to your car because I wouldnât be here right now.â He explains, which makes you laugh a bit but otherwise frown. You didnât realise the companyâs numbers were so far down that the fundraiser is essentially a double edged sword, but you figured it couldnât have been for no reason.
Jihoon has always been very efficient with his work, even if about two months ago (maybe even less) you wouldâve scoffed and said otherwise. âYouâll figure it out. You always do.â You say, meaning to be encouraging but not entirely sure if it came off that way. âThanks. You too.â
With your hands full, you couldnât grab your keys to unlock your car so you have Jihoon do it for you. âWhere is this bag going?â He holds it up just in case you forgot which bag it is. âUh, you can just throw it in the backseat. Well, donât literally throw it but umââ
âI got it.â He chuckles at your disorganised thoughts.
Once all of your things are settled in the car, you close everything up and stand face to face with Jihoon. âThank you for the help, I really appreciate it.â You say. âAnytime. I hope you get all your work done.â You reflect the wish back to him. Sadly, you guys just awkwardly stand there for a bit before realising this conversation is not going anywhere else.
âWell, I guess Iâll see you tomorrow, hm? You have my number, right?â He nods and bids you goodbye. You get into your car but donât start it. Instead, you watch through your rearview mirror as Jihoon turns the corner to the staircase. Had you known his car was on a different level, you wouldâve offered to drop him off since the parking garageâs elevator is out of commission. However, in hindsight, the conversation was already awkward enough.
Later that night, you two text back and forth for multiple hours. All the way until 2AM you guys were exchanging messages. Heâs really a sweet guy even over text.
At 2:19, he texts you goodnight and says heâll see you in the morning.
In the morning, like you expected, you see Jihoon milling about the office floor. He sends you a wave, but his hands are full so itâs nothing more than that. You try to catch him to offer your help, but he disappears in an instant.
The flyers you were supposed to make were only half done because most of your time last night was spent talking to Jihoon. Youâre extremely guilty, and you feel horrible because you know all the work you have will carry into the weekend, but you made your bed.
Eventually, Jihoon visits you at your cubicle and apologises for keeping you up last night. âItâs not your fault. I wanted to talk to you.â He smiles at this and gives your shoulder a supportive pat. âYouâll get it done.â
For the rest of the day, he leaves you aloneâother than bringing you a mug of teaâand honestly, that was for the best. You do manage to catch up on and finish all the work so you text Jihoon the good news. He suggests ice cream after work to celebrate and you agree.
Your manager stops by your cubicle to compliment your hard work. âAnd I saw you being extra smiley with Jihoon. Good luck.â Before you can refute her statement with any type of defense, she disappears.
Extra smiley. Hm.
At the end of the day, Jihoon meets you at your cubicle once again and this time, you donât have anything for him to carry except your comically large tote bag that you bring into the office everyday. Before you two leave, you grab your heels from under your desk that you change out of everyday upon arrival to the office. You attempt to put them in your bag, but Jihoon shakes his head. âPut those on.â
âWhy?â
âWeâre going out to dinner. As a date.â He reveals. You drop the heels back on the floor. âYou really are a sad sap.â You remark, sliding one of your sneakers off. âNot for everyone.â
âSo youâre saying Iâm special?â
âSomething like that, yeah.â He speaks nonchalantly. Coming from him, though, these words mean a lot to you. Ever since his initial confession, you can tell not all of his confidence is there. But itâs your goal to show him that he doesnât have to try as hard, heâs already got you.
As you struggle with getting your sock off, Jihoon groans. âHurry up, the reservation is for six oâclock.â
You raise an eyebrow. âReservation? Wow, you must really like me.â He watches as you slip the other heel on. âYou know that already. Come on.â He grabs your hand and leads you to the elevator. You press the down button and wait for the elevator to come up. In that time, Jihoon takes your bag from you and fixes the wrinkles in your dress.
The two of you step into the elevator and after hitting 1, the doors close and it begins its descent. In the reflective doors, Jihoon stares at you. âYouâre so pretty.â He says. âAm I?â You respond. He nods. âThank you, my sad sap.â You add, pausing for dramatic effect.
âOkay, you were pretty until about five seconds ago.â He clarifies, but holds your hand tighter all the while. He thinks maybe youâre right, he is a sad sap. But only when it comes to you.
[the end]
SIKEEEEE
BONUS
Youâre almost giggling on your way to the copy room. As soon as you saw Jihoon go in there, you knew it was your cue. It wasnât any type of plan or anything, but lately, you guys have only been able to meet in the copy room because everyone has gotten extremely suspicious of you guys and you didnât wanna say anything.
As soon as you make it to the room, you shut the door and see your boyfriend already working on the machine. You hop up and make your place on the counter while Jihoon does his thing. âClear?â He asks with his back to you. âClear. For now. Come here.â You hold your arms out just as he turns to you and he makes his way over. âMissed you last night.â You whisper. He leans in to your embrace and presses a kiss to your lips. âMe too. Letâs get dinner tonight.â All your plans with Jihoon have been spontaneous because the workload has been unpredictable lately. If you both end the day with no incomplete assignments, youâll go out and do something together, but if not, you save it for another day.
His print job ends and he reluctantly breaks away from you to go grab his copies. Thereâs only maybe twenty in the stack, but he asks you if you have any to make. You hand him the sheet youâre copying and he starts it up for you while you wait patiently on the counter. You zone out to the sound of Jihoon clicking around on the printer settings, so much so that you donât hear him when he asks you how many copies you need. He asks again, âHow many copies, baby?â
âOh! Sorry, thirty-six please.â Heâs not annoyed you werenât listening. In fact, he smiles a little bit and is amused.
He inputs the amount you need and waits for the machine to start printing before making his way back to you. âWhat do you feel like for dinner?â He asks, caging you in with his arms. âNot sure, but not seafood.â
He pouts. âBut baby, I love seafood.â
âThen you can go get seafood and Iâll stay home and watch Queen of Tears.â He gasps at this idea. Even though youâre not serious, he fakes being upset for a second.
A moment later, the door opens and your manager Claudette walks in. She doesnât see you two right away, but once she does, she says âOh brother,â and walks right out. She leaves the door open and you can hear her call out to someone else and say, âYou owe me twenty dollars!â
You and Jihoon exchange a look. âWho do you think sheâs talking to?â You ask him. He pauses for a second and moves away from you. âMe.â
âWhat?â But heâs already on his way out of the room. âSee you later!â He doesnât realise that heâs forgotten his copies so youâll definitely be seeing him again soon.
The office will definitely be on fire by tomorrow with this news, youâre already aware. On the bright side, though, you can finally celebrate your first public couple activity: getting bullied by the entire office.

Miscellaneous things I noticed in the FS Manga
I reread the Four Swords manga quite a bit now that I have it, so I figured I might as well share some of the things Iâve noticed over the course of those many rereads.
- In chapter 11 itâs revealed Blue keeps his hammer in his hat.
- The flower Zelda is mentioned to like is potentially a blue flax, just going off of appearance and status as a wildflower.Â
- In the first chapter, all the Colors have dark-shaded undershirts/sleeves, but starting in chapter 2, only Green has dark-shaded sleeves (Blue has a lighter grey color). This was probably done to save time, or maybe just to make it easier to tell them all apart.Â
- Everyoneâs default expression just seems to be :0 which is honestly probably just a quirk of its era, but still really funny.Â
- In chapter 2, the first time Blue gets hit by Shadow, Red is briefly seen crouching next to Blue as if to check on him. I think Red remains crouching after Blue gets up, but Iâm really not sure. Heâs back on his feet by the time Blue gets hit again.
- Vio holds books really weird but at least he seems to be having fun. Up until someone talks to him, anyway. (I attempted to translate the words we can see, but I think it may just be gibberish. It was not a very good attempt to be fair.)
- Shields, swords, and sheaths only seem to exist when relevant.Â
- For being touted as the âboringâ and âuninterestingâ member of the team, Green sure does have a lot of expressive moments if you focus on him. I think heâs the most well-rounded of the bunch in terms of personality. His defining character trait is âmotivatedâ, which when compared to âangryâ, âcry laughingâ, and âmorals are a roulette wheelâ, isnât that easy to see visually. Heâs competitive with Blue, he shows when heâs scared or happy like Red, and he can think rationally like Vio. He has all these overlapping traits with the others, they just arenât nearly as prominent. Like a jack of all traits.
- In chapter 2, Shadow jumps at Green in an attempt to kill him. A similar pose is mirrored by Vio later in chapter 7 during his fight with Green. Perhaps intentional? (What do they have against Green??)
- Blue is the undeniable powerhouse of the team. He lands the final hit on Stone Arrghus, protects Red throughout the whole Temple of Light/Darkness (which I thought was really sweet, dude was not leaving Red behind no matter what), takes out Big Poe, and steps in to take down their father (so Green doesnât have to). He also drops a bunch of Hinox into lava if weâre counting that. Pretty much all these instances did have help from the others in at least some capacity, but you can trust him to finish the job.
- The dynamic between Red and Vio, though not seen much due to Vioâs Evil Shenanigans and the team being split for multiple chapters, is surprisingly wholesome. In chapter 2, shortly after receiving their names, Vio lists the obvious personality traits they all have, and pats Red on the head while smiling (which may or may not be his first genuine non-smug smile at this point?). Red seems to admire Vio, though honestly heâs like that with all of them. They seem to stand near each other a lot early on before the group is split. In chapter 3, when Red gets stuck in place and Stone Arrghus is about to attack him, Vio is the first to jump in between them to save Red. In chapter 8, Red runs to hug Vio after they get him back from Vioâs Evil Shenanigans (and Red also seemed to run to him for a hug in chapter 6, but because itâs not shown, Red probably stopped just short of giving him one). I really wish we got to see them interact more.Â
- Speaking of Red and Vio, their speech bubbles in chapter 10 appear to have been flipped around.Â
- Of all the Colors, Vio is the only one to never be shown crying. The closest he gets is when Green stomps his foot and his eyes tear up. Red cries all the time, Blue cries a few times but most notably when Green âdiesâ, and Green seems to be crying when their father âdiesâ.Â
- Not so much an observation but just a question--are the fire rod and ice rod actually two different items, or just a toggle for the same rod?? Due to the lack of coloring, and the fact the rods look pretty much, if not completely the same, I canât tell if the âclickâ that comes from it in chapter 7 (while theyâre standing on Vioâs execution rock), is the fire rod being changed into an ice rod, or Red switching weapons all together just with a weird onomatopoeia (or potentially the âclickâ had nothing to do with the rod at all).Â
- Though not super fleshed-out characters, the other knights of Hyrule showing up in the fight with Vaati to help out the Colors was a nice nod to the start of the story, what with the themes of teamwork and all that. They might not have been there on time, but they made it there eventually and got the Colors out of a tricky situation. Their unity is their strength, as they say. Also, shoutout to Linkâs father, heâs doing his best and clearly loves his son(s)
- In one of the bonus comics, âItâs Not Easy Being Purple,â Vio is for some reason labeled as Green. This one bugged me when I noticed it.
- In the final bonus comic, âFear Like Never Before,â I am convinced Vioâs Evil Shenanigans Part 2 would commence had Green not put the sword back in again. (Just look at his face. Why is he staring at the ground? Shadow??)Â
- Red is best boy, moving on.
These are just some of the immediate things that come to mind when Iâm rereading. I seem to get a new appreciation for each of the characters each time, so thatâs really neat. Back when I was like 13, I only knew of a few pages of the fan translation, and of the characters I only really had a feel for Redâs whole deal, so he was my favorite (still is tbh).Â
Now I can say I like all the characters, each for a different reason, and not to the same amount, but I donât dislike or feel neutral about anyone like I used to. Green and Blue were really âmehâ to me when I first acquired the manga a few months back, but honestly theyâre both really interesting in ways Iâve only started to notice recently.Â
I thought Blue was just angry all the time, but he pulls off a lotta cool shit constantly (not including the time he literally got frozen) and I think he does care about the others a lot even if he wonât admit it (his interactions with Red turning more soft is definitely an indicator). I wish we had gotten to see what his response to Red would have been back in the Temple of Light/Darkness when Red asked if he was even worried about Green and Vio. He was definitely worried, but someone had to be focused, and in that moment it had to be Blue.Â
Or something, Iâm not very good at character studies. Iâll stand by what I said about him caring for the others though.
Liking Green more is still on the newer side for me. Again, I never disliked any of them, but Green always came across as plain (since he doesnât have any stand out character traits other than being the one who looked most like Link), so I tended to overlook him. The thing that got me to like him more actually was his body language. He is very expressive, be it his facial features or the way he moves. I love characters that emote in exaggerated ways, itâs also why I like Red so much, they share this in common. In particular, Green just has some funky poses I think are neat, like in chapter 5âhe may be fighting for his life but his dodging is just so cartoony and bouncy, I want to see it animated.Â
To some extent they all move like this, but with Green itâs nice since heâs not usually comic relief. Itâs nice to have a âmainâ main character be just as goofy and cartoonish like the rest.Â
And when it comes to Vio, Iâve always liked Vio. Finding out how unhinged he actually is was a treat, but it also was a really funny realization for me. I knew him as the serious bookworm, which isnât entirely wrong, but heâs also a smug bitch who, had the narrative allowed him, would definitely have a kill count. In fact, he has only read one book, but it was in doing so that everyone latched onto the idea he loves reading. Love that for him. I also love the fact heâs a liar.
Itâs like he got most of Linkâs negative traits wrapped into one, and then they set him loose into the wilderness. Itâs a miracle he didnât kill anybody. He certainly tried.Â
I do not have the words to explain how much I love Red. Heâs adorable and so unapologetically emotional that it makes me happy. Heâs just being himself, havinâ a good time. The others would have perished without him, Iâm convinced (or, well, Blue would have frozen to death, Green would have died to the Hinox, and Vio would presumably continue living in his darkness-sponsored love affair with Shadow until he either killed one or both of them).Â
This got longer than it was supposed to be whoops.

The following morning, the buzzing energy in the townhouse is almost palpable. Not only because youâve finally completed the set and the last four people have arrived â Erwin, Bertholdt, Ymir, and Historia â but it seems that your intense energy from the night prior seemed to have transferred over to everyone else.Â
Youâre almost too embarrassed to walk downstairs to the frantic chatter â that coupled with the fact that youâve heard Connie name drop you almost four times â and it seems that Eren seems to be feeling the same when you walk out into the hallway to find him awkwardly lingering by his door.Â
âHey.âÂ
Eren looks up, thrown out of his spiral of thoughts, as he gives you a smile and then looks down at your lip. Itâs a little sore, the tiniest bit swollen from the tattoos that you got yesterday, and you can see that his is the same.Â
âHi princess. Howâs your lip?â Eren asks.Â
âGood. I guess I should be thankful that your name is only four letters and not nine letters like Bertholdt or something.âÂ
Eren smiles.Â
âLetâs see it then.â Eren responds.Â
You oblige his request, pulling down to show him the inner of your lip and watch as he smiles at the little ink. He follows suit after, making a rather dramatic display of crouching down to your height before pulling his own lip and showing you his.Â
âYou know, life really does imitate art. Because now, my name really will be forever on your lips.â you respond.Â
âI sure hope not. Youâd be slashing my head off sometime in the near future if that were true.âÂ
You smile.Â
âYou know, that doesnât sound that bad to me.âÂ
âBut you have to kiss me after. You know, if it were up to me, I think life should imitate art. Like at least ten times, for scientific purposes.â Eren responds, shrugging as he gestures for you to follow him.Â
You shake your head, inexplicably unable to respond to the harmless flirting this time around, as you gesture for him to join you downstairs. The two of you walk in tandem down the steps, sparing each other one last smile, before you get hounded by the likes of Connie and Jean.Â
And surely enough, the second you make it down to the kitchen and the dining table at the side, youâre met with the sight of Connie air-playing fan edits on the TV screen for everyone to watch.Â
You and Eren take the spot behind Connie on the couch, and Eren smacks him on the backside of his head, before you two watch the edit. Itâs of Eren singing Glimpse of Us in the background, except the videoâs edited to be showing videos of him and Hyla, before juxtaposing them with videos of him and you.Â
âSpeak of the fucking devils. Donât tell me you actually got matching lip tattoos? Iâm half convinced you assholes are just lying to piss me off at this point.â Connie asks.Â
The two of you look over and grin at each other.Â
âWhy are you watching fancams of us on the TV?â you ask.Â
âEdit accounts are a form of art. Look at this one.â Connie responds, sliding to the next video on his phone.Â
This one is in a similar vein, videos of you and Eren from the red carpet to the backdrop of you singing Style. Youâre not sure what it is, but the video fills you with an insurmountable amount of joy, especially when Connie scrolls up the comments â most of them being about how people canât stand how Eren seems to look at you.Â
âConnie. Why have you watched this entire YouTube video?â Eren asks, pointing to the little thumbnail at the side.Â
You follow the line of vision to where heâs pointing to an hour long video, entitled âeren and y/n creating love for an hour straight.âÂ
âThereâs no way you watched that entire thing.â you respond.Â
âWatched it? Bitch, I recorded half of those videos for Y/N-Jaegers back in the day. Please put some respect on my name.â Connie sneers, as he leans forward to put the video on.Â
You turn to Eren, as the gears start turning in your head. You can tell that heâs following your lead â in fact, thinking the same exact thing as you â as you discuss it over.Â
âI mean, kind of makes sense. Sâhow we did it the first time.â Eren responds.Â
âIâd argue that itâs almost poetic to do it the same way. Plus, the resurgence of Y/N-Jaegers would be crazy, just for PR sake.âÂ
âI agree.âÂ
Eren reaches forward, yanking on Connieâs ear to catch his attention. He leans back, before swatting Eren off, and standing to face the two of you.Â
âDo you have your phone, Connie?â Eren asks.Â
âYeah.â Connie responds.Â
âThen, use it.â Eren responds.Â
You give him a grin, waiting for Connie â who albeit, in his confusion lifts his phone â before you both pull down your lips and show off your new tattoos. You watch as Connieâs eyes nearly boggle out of head as he moves closer to the two of you, his excited voice filling the entire room as the group of them all start huddling around you.Â
Mai and Mikasa look positively appalled, quietly whispering about how painful that must have been, while Reiner and Sasha break out into their own side tangent about how oppressive lip tattoos must be since they limit your food options so greatly.Â
You and Eren laugh as you shuffle back into the kitchen, leaving the group of them to their devices as Connie uploads the video, and the two of you reach for the yogurt in the fridge. The piping hot, spicy ramen seemed like it was just going to burn your entire lip off, so you decided against that for today.Â
You lean forward to read the little schedule on the fridge, though the filming is considerably light for the week. Considering the fact that almost everyone was here now, or arriving within the next hour, you were going into serious rehearsals for the ensemble showcase that you had planned. Though you were really only in it for one verse.Â
Wednesday, March 27th, 10:00Â
Eren and Y/N - REDACTED #1Â
You frown.Â
âWhat the hell is redacted number one?âÂ
Eren spins to the side, crouching down so his chin is just hovering over your shoulder. And the fact that he lowers his voice, to the gravelly octave, makes the hair on your arms stand up on its ends.Â
âLevi not talk to you about this yet?âÂ
âNo. Weâre too busy talking about award show stuff. You know how he loves to lecture.âÂ
Eren looks over at you, his eyes borderline smoldering, as you canât help but look away. It was getting harder and harder to look at Eren after your godforsaken realization last night. Â
âFrom what I hear, what theyâre lecturing you about is actually very valid.â Eren responds.Â
You scoff.Â
âYou know, theyâre so annoying. Iâd appreciate it if they kept my conversations with them as private as they keep their conversations with you.â you respond.Â
âWell, they were actually trying to get me to convince you to not use your triple threat performance on me. Not when youâre already performing twice that day, with me at the centerpoint.â Eren responds.Â
When you had first pitched your idea for the awards show to them â and humbly begged them to give their ensemble showcase moment up to include the Jujutsu Kaisen cast â you had let them know that your intentions were from the get go.Â
And when Eren had created the perfect segway for them with the song requests, Hange had slipped theirs in a week prior with maybe the most difficult request that you had been given yet.Â
write a song about danny and sareenÂ
And even more than just writing it, Hange had made it very clear that they were expecting you to sing it at the awardâs show at the end when you finally got to do your triple threat performance. That you couldnât sing another song about Eren, when winning that award, was always going to be about them.Â
Hangeâs more theatrical than Levi. Because Levi just gave you the cue card that they have read off of that night, that had your name on it. But Hange had gone the full ten miles and given you the little trophy that you never even got to hold, with the note that came attached from the Institute.Â
You can still see it now in the dull, gold looping.Â
Dear Y/N, Danny, and Sareen, Congratulations on your accomplishment! Included in the box is the trophy and a golden glass case to display it in. Please call the offices on Glass Avenue to discuss timings for interviews and your performance at one of our four award shows next year. Best, The InstituteÂ
And annoyingly enough â despite the fact that it was your name on the trophy, their names were inscribed on the box.Â
It was enough to irritate you into writing the song that Hange wanted you to sing. And at this point, you were itching to give them a run for their money too.Â
âThey didnât need you to convince me. I gave in eventually.â you respond.Â
Eren shrugs, before dipping his own spoon into your yogurt. Eren had instinctively given up the last strawberry one because itâs your favorite, but clearly, wasnât very attached to his decision. Â
âI just donât understand why you wouldnât want to make it about Danny and Sareen in the first place.â Eren responds.Â
You shrug, leaning against the back of the fridge. The metal is cold on your back, as you let the freezing cold yogurt soothe the burning in your mouth.Â
âWell, I only came back here for Marco. Because he wonât ever get to act again. Then when I started to do this, I was only doing it for you â because you did it for me first.â you respond.Â
âAnd now?âÂ
âI thought back to what Historia had said to me, when she finally dragged me out of that house the first time. She had brought up Hangeâs speech, the one way back when that made me even interested in acting in the first place. About showing the real you and all that.â you respond.Â
âAnd?â Eren asks.Â
âWell, Hange brought that up to me, when I originally said I wanted the third song to be about you. Not that youâre not important to me, butâŚbeing a triple threat was what I always wanted. And really at the core of it, I just wanted to be as unapologetic as Hange was. I guess when they put it that way, it was almost stupid not to make the song about them when theyâre the one who got to take the sanctity of that award away from me.âÂ
Eren smiles. And before he can respond, youâre tackled by two pairs of arms nearly strangling you around your neck, your line of vision telling you that Erenâs experiencing the same bombardment. Ymir and Bertholdt are shaking his entire frame and jumping at his side â and your ears donât deceive you when you hear Historia and Erwin bellowing in your ear.Â
You pull back, wrapping your hands around Historiaâs face.Â
âYou crazy bitch. Donât tell me you actually got a fucking tattoo again?â Historia asks.Â
You grin, pulling down your lip to show the group of them.Â
âWell, Iâd be a fucking liar if I said that.â you respond.Â
Erwin, in his theatrics, places a hand over his chest and the other one on the top of your head.Â
âThatâs my girl. Always had such a sound moral compass.â Erwin responds.Â
You canât help but wrap your arms around him as Erwin lifts his hand and gestures for Eren to join him at the other side. He still smells the same â the lingering scent of Old Spice deodorant and a very husky perfume. And when he pulls back, you canât help but feel your heart squelch when he puts a hand on both of your cheeks and beams down at you two.Â
âYouâve always been our little trail blazers, you two. Iâm so proud of you two.âÂ
You turn to Eren and smile, before looking back at Erwin.Â
âWeâre proud of you too, Erwin!â Eren responds.Â
You turn your head to the side, giving Eren a confused look.Â
âDonât flatter me, Eren. Iâm not above crying in front of you children.â Erwin responds.Â
âIâm offended you would even think that, Erwin. Donât you know who I am?â Eren responds.Â
You shake your head as you turn towards Ymir and Bertholdt at your side and leave Eren and Erwin to hype each other up for what was probably going to be the next thirty minutes at your side. You had already given up trying to understand Eren and Erwinâs relationship years prior.Â
âHey, kid.â Ymir says.Â
âIâm older than you.â you respond.Â
âYeah, yeah whatever. I have someone I want you to meet.â Ymir responds.Â
You follow her line of vision to the opening of the kitchen, to find someone lingering against the frame of the door. Thereâs a girl standing there, with tan skin and a short pixie cut â nervously knitting her fingers together. Sheâs smiling at you, rather brightly, and you can't help but feel like youâve met her before.Â
âY/N. This is Sofia, my fiance. Sofia, this is Y/N.â Ymir states, gesturing for the two of you to shake hands.Â
You oblige, her hand warm and the shake firm, as you try to hide the shock in your face. With the rush of everything that was going on, the information that Mikasa had shared with you days prior had been floating around in the back of your mind but you were never able to ask Eren to put it to rest.Â
And now there was another lingering question mark hanging.Â
That Ymir had proposed to Historia, but that she said no. That she begged her and Historia couldnât bring herself to do it. But even despite that, they were still sleeping on the same mattress when you came back for the first time, for Marcoâs funeral.Â
And now sheâs engaged to someone else.Â
âHi Sofia. My name is Y/N. Itâs really nice to meet you.âÂ
Her eyes light up as she squeezes your hand, which you now realize is still locked in with hers, as you look back up at her and smile.Â
âItâs really nice to meet you too.â she responds.Â
âYou know, you look really familiar, but I canât exactly place why.â you murmur.Â
You look to your side to find Ymir grinning at Sofia, as Sofia canât help but groan in response.Â
âI told you she would remember you.â Ymir states.Â
âThat doesnât count as remembering me! A lot of people can look familiar to people!â Sofia responds.Â
You smile, rubbing your palms together, as you look at the two of them. The thought of Historia a few feet away talking to Jean and Mikasa has you sweating, nervously passing your eyes over just to make sure that she wasnât watching the entire interaction go down.Â
âHave I met you before?â you ask.Â
Sofia sighs, the slightest pink tint in the apples of her cheeks.Â
âThis is so embarrassing. I met you and Eren a couple years back, at one of those conventions with the panels and stuff and ââÂ
The recognition is instant.Â
âOh my god! You were wearing a shirt with my face on it! With your sister, right?â you respond.Â
âI fucking told you she would remember! She has really good memory.â Ymir responds, this time goading her on.Â
You shake your head at Ymir, before placing your hands on both of her biceps and squeezing.Â
âSofia, wait. I really remember that because it actually meant the world to me at the time. Iâm sure youâŚknow about Scott Clarkson and all that mess and ââÂ
âI want that man dead and Iâm so serious.â Sofia deadpans.Â
You laugh.Â
âYou and me, both. But yeah, that day was actually the first time that Eren and I had ever met him in person. And the entire event in general was just so uncomfortable and left a weird taste in my mouth and youâŚyou really made me feel like I was doing something important and I actually thought about it for a really long time.â you respond.Â
Sofia smiles, before she reaches forward and wraps her arms around you. The embrace is overwhelmingly warm, as you eye Ymir behind her back, who's just shaking her head at her demeanor, almost insinuating that this was what she did all the time.Â
âIâm really glad. I really meant what I said back then and Iâve always been a big supporter all this time. Youâre really brave and courageous and ââ Sofia stars.Â
âOkay, Sof. Enough. Youâre going to make poor Y/Nâs head bigger than it already is.â Ymir groans, as you turn back to your side.Â
âThatâs really sweet of you. How is your sister?â you ask.Â
Youâre not sure what it is, but itâs almost like youâve thrown ice on the little warmth that was pooling in the conversation. Because her face slightly droops and Ymirâs quick to put a hand on her shoulder in comfort.Â
âAh. She passed away a few years ago.â Sofia mumbles.Â
âOh my gosh. Iâm so sorry, I didnât mean to bring that up and ââÂ
She smiles, enough to give you the faintest glimpse of her dimples. They remind you of Eren.Â
âThatâs okay. Thatâs actually where I met Ymir. At the grief group.â she responds.Â
âYou went to a grief group?â you ask.Â
âWell, not originally. I was there with a friend, a while before Marco died. Met her there. We were already dating when Marco passed away, butâŚwe just figured it wasnât the best idea for Sofia to come to the funeral withâŚyou know. Historia.â Ymir responds.Â
So why did she sleep with Historia on the mattress?Â
âIâm glad youâre here with us now. Itâs really nice to meet you. And I love weddings, if Ymir can humble herself enough to invite me to hers.â you respond.Â
âShut up, bitch. Youâre so annoying.â Ymir responds.Â
Thatâs what she says. But it sounds more like are you crazy? Of course, youâre invited.Â
âAnyways, I hope you come to set later. Eren and I are going to be filming something if you want to watch.âÂ
âFor sure. Iâd love to see it.â Sofia responds.Â
You look over your shoulder to find Levi, Hange, and Eren waiting near the edge of the kitchen island, gesturing for you to come over now that youâve caught their attention. And as the four of you embark out towards the set, Levi explains what redacted scenes are to you.Â
You spare Historia one last glance as you walk off the set and canât help but feel a bitter taste in your mouth at the longing look sheâs giving Ymir.Â
--
--
âYou know, this sounds an awful lot like method acting to me.â you murmur, spotting the sly grin on Leviâs face.Â
âEren told me not to call it that. He said you might strangle me. Or him. Or both of us combined.âÂ
âHe would be right about that.â you respond.Â
Heâs leaning against the edge of the vanity, as the makeup team tasks themself with drying and prepping your hair to perfection, while Levi coaches you through what you now understand are the two redacted scenes that Levi has asked you and Eren to film.Â
You just think itâs lazy script writing. Levi thinks youâre annoying for calling it that.Â
With your combined permission of course, Levi has decided to let you method act through the two scenes that he originally had planned out. While he was allegedly entirely faithful in your ability to deliver lines, he wanted to see if what the two of you could produce out of real shock, in the moment as your characters, was something better than what he could write.Â
Hence, the vague scene that you and Eren were going to be filming. To your understanding, the pair of them were each going to give you and Eren a set of prompts and you were just supposed to act your way through the scene based on what they told you to do.Â
âCan I know my prompt then?â you ask.Â
âYou understand, right?â Levi clarifies.Â
âYeah, yeah. Iâm just supposed to go based on what you tell me.âÂ
Levi hops off of the counter, this time leaning closer so that you can actually make eye contact with him in your line of vision.Â
âBut really. I donât care how badly you want to say something else. YouâŚyou have to go based on the direction that I tell you.â Levi responds.Â
Itâs almost annoying, the way heâs coddling you through the entire thing.Â
âOkay, I get it. This is my entire job, you know?â you respond.Â
Levi scoffs.Â
âFine. Erenâs going to ask you something. I want you to shoot him down.â Levi states.Â
You lean your head to the side, much to the annoyance of the makeup artist, who moves your neck back into place. You shoot her an apologetic smile, before thinking back to Levi.Â
âYou want me to shoot him down?â you ask.Â
âHeâs going to ask you something. Or insinuate it â and no matter how badly you want to do whatever it is, you have to tell him no.âÂ
Levi gives you a curt nod before he walks back out to the set to put things in place, as you put the outfit resting on the hangar on. You reach up to mess with the little fringe of your bangs, pulling down the undershirt and the jacket as you prepare yourself for the scene.Â
When you walk out on set, the group of them are all sitting on the sidelines, giving you excited smiles. You give Sofia a little wave at the front of the sidelines, returning the little finger hearts that Gabi and Falco point towards you as you reach for your cue.Â
And when Levi calls action, the lights on the entire set dimming and the chatter breaking down to silence, you can feel your heart pounding in your chest as you see Eren at the top of the little landing, his back facing towards you.Â
âEren! Everyone has been looking everywhere for you!âÂ
At the sound of your voice, Eren lifts his hand to his face and sniffles, almost like heâs wiping away tears, before you stand at his side. He refuses to meet your eyes and now that youâre standing at his side, youâre not sure how you missed this before.Â
They cut Erenâs hair.Â
A small part of it â because itâs out of the usual man bun that heâs been sporting since you came back to set and instead loosely frames the sides of his face.Â
It might be your favorite look yet. And all you can do is stare.Â
He still refuses to meet your eye, withholding it from you. You follow his gaze to the bottom of the landing, to see the kid that Levi had introduced you to a week prior, who was going to play Ramzi in the script. You had yet to film the scene â since youâre almost positive that Levi was going out of order at this point to save time and note it.Â
âThe boy from the market? What happened?â you ask.Â
âNothing yet.â Eren responds.Â
Erenâs voice has that same gravel, almost hollow, like he did the day that you filmed the table scene. Itâs almost haunting when his voice sounds like that â so devoid of motion and strained that it makes your chest pang.Â
You wonder if thatâs what he sounded like in the years that you didnât talk.Â
âWhat do you mean? Wh-what is this place?â you ask.Â
âAfter the war left them with no home, they all gathered here to live. Theyâre just like us.âÂ
Erenâs throat bobs at your side and you can feel his eyes clenching in your peripheral vision.Â
âOne day, their regular lives ended and everything was taken away from them. They were deprived of all of their freedoms.â Eren states.Â
And almost in a split second, Eren finally averted his gaze from looking down and meets your eyes for the first time. Youâre not sure what it is â surely something from the makeup team thatâs making his eyes look fuller, rounder â but the eye contact is almost excruciating this time. Your first instinct is to turn away.Â
âY/N. Why do you care so much about me?âÂ
You can feel your cheeks burning. That was the last thing you were expecting him to say.Â
âHuh?â you repeat.Â
âIs it because I saved you when we were little? Or is it because Iâm your family?âÂ
You swallow hard, the block in your throat stifling. Itâs almost like you canât even push air out of it, like youâre opening your mouth to try and nothing can make it past â enough to fill you with a panic like you wonât ever speak again. Because you have the faintest inkling of whatâs going to come nextâŚwhy Levi was so adamant on asking if you would be able to follow his instructions.Â
âI-âÂ
âWhat am I to you?â Eren asks.Â
Everything.Â
Itâs the first word that comes to mind when he asks.Â
âEvââÂ
You pause, as you feel the sweat accumulating on the edge of your hairline, fighting the urge to reach up to wipe it off. Leviâs voice is excruciating in your head.Â
Heâs going to ask you something. Or insinuate it â and no matter how badly you want to do whatever it is, you have to tell him no.
Itâs almost painful. Having to say it when it isnât true. When in reality, you know that youâre acting and Eren knows that youâre acting too â that this is just part of your job. But to even strike him down in the fake way, after weeks of building it back together, seems cruel.Â
You sigh, shutting your eyes and taking a deep breath, before you look back up at his eyes. The deep green is enough to accumulate the thinnest film of tears in your eyes.Â
âYouâre family, Eren.âÂ
And after you mutter it, itâs visceralâŚan almost physical reaction from Eren. Because you can see the way his breath hitches, the way he hesitantly steps back â quite literally physically recoiling. And the regret sits heavy in your chest and you have to drop your eyes â because you canât even bear to look at him.Â
âCut!â Levi calls.Â
Itâs enough to snap you out of the heaviness, as you shake your head at the resounding amount of chatter that follows. You can still feel your heart racing as the makeup team is quick to rush to your side â quickly powdering the sweat that had accumulated on your cheek as they do the same with Eren â and you can hear Connie and Reiner mumbling about how brutal that was to watch on the side.Â
You look back up at Eren, whose hollow look hasnât left his eyes and you give him a halfhearted smile â which he doesnât return. Instead, he turns back to Levi and Hange, who are murmuring over the shot in the viewfinder.Â
âDid we get it?â Eren nearly shouts.
âWe got it. You killed it guys.â Levi responds, still fixated on the shot.Â
âDo you still need me or can I go?â Eren asks.Â
âErenââÂ
âYouâre good, Eren.â Hange responds.Â
Erenâs almost too quick with it, the way he yanks the little mic pack off the little sleeve in his jacket and hands it to the crew. And with his long bean stalk legs, heâs disappeared from your side before you can barely even process that he was standing there in the first place.Â
--
You canât bring yourself to talk to Eren until two days later, on the eve of his birthday and two days before the award show. Not because youâre actively avoiding him, but it seems that he gets so wrapped up in quite literally everything else he has to attend to. Though really, it feels like that the slight air of comfort that you had was completely shattered by filming the scene together.Â
Thereâs a quiet knock on Erenâs door. Heâs preemptively pissed offâŚand the quiet irritation that had been festering in his chest for the last few days was about to come to a head on Connie and Lana, who refused to take a hint.Â
He had made it infinitely clear that he wanted to spend the early hours of his birthday alone. That he would be fine and dandy to celebrate with everyone the day after, but he needed the time to process some things alone.Â
The tension diffuses when he realizes that itâs you at the door. Thereâs an almost timid look on your face, as you balance a little white box in your hands, and peek your head past the closet.Â
âAm I disturbing you?âÂ
âNo, of course not. Come in.â Eren responds, patting flat on the comforter for you to join him at his side.Â
You give him a smile as you set the little box down, crossing your legs over each other to sit at his side. You lock your hands into the pits of your knees as you turn over towards him, taking a second chance to admire that his hair is the slightest bit shorter.Â
âI really love your hair, Eren.â you respond.Â
Thereâs an immediate flush in the apples of his cheeks. He reaches up to it, nervously pushing a hand through the strands before he drops it all together.Â
âThank you. The length was starting to get really fucking annoying.â Eren responds.Â
âI liked the man-bun but I think this type of thing really suits you.â you respond.Â
Eren looks over at you and gives you a halfhearted smile. And that quiet ease returns, maybe faster than Eren would have liked. The quiet moment of hurt that he was holding on to was absolved the second you smiled at him.Â
Eren can hear Connieâs voice in his head â calling him down horrendous.Â
âWhat can I do you for?â Eren asks.Â
âItâs almost your birthday.â you state.Â
âCongratulations, Y/N. You know how to read a calendar!âÂ
You scoff, before lightly shoving him in his side.Â
âShut up. I wanted to do something for you.â you respond, before lightly pushing the box in front of him.Â
Eren gives you a weary look, before he opens up the little box. Itâs a frosted green and white cake â with four candles in it. Itâs a strange arrangement since theyâre all numbered candles, making the number 2,345.Â
âI guess I stand corrected. You really donât know how to read a calendar.â Eren responds.Â
Eren turns to the side, with the most annoying look on his face, as he turns to you and grins.Â
âOkay, Y/N. Repeat after me. The year is 2024.âÂ
âShut up, asshole. I was trying to be sweet.â you grumble, as you hike your knees to your chest.Â
Eren rolls his eyes.Â
âWhatâs so sweet about getting the age wrong on my cake?â Eren asks.Â
âItâs actually to make up for every birthday of yours that I missed, dumbass.â you respond.Â
Eren can feel his heart pounding in his chest.Â
âWhat?â Eren asks.Â
You shrug, before reaching down to adjust the candles from pushing into each other.Â
âThe last birthday I got to spend with you was your twenty-second birthday. I can imagine that the yearsâ that followed weren't exactly pleasantâŚthatâŚthat they might have been a reminder of what happened on the beach.â you start.Â
That was the understatement of the year.Â
âAnd itâs my fault that I missed your birthday. So, I thought thatâŚwe could make them up now. Hence the candles for three and four, for your twenty-third and twenty-fourth birthday. And todayâs your twenty-fifthâŚitâs the least that I could do.â you respond.Â
Eren thinks itâs rather unfair that he always seems to be at a loss of words when heâs with you. Instead of being able to spill out what was really racketing through his brain â that it was getting infinitely harder to swallow down his feelings, that this was almost melting the resolve that he had made with himself to let you make the first move â he opens up his arms instead.Â
You oblige, leaning forward and resting your chin against his shoulder, as you feel Eren scoop his arms around your waist. Itâs almost like heâs resting his entire body weight on you, because you can feel his face digging into the softness of your neck, as you absentmindedly reach up for his hair, feeling the edges that were just freshly cut. The faint scent of the hairdressing spray still lingers.Â
Heâs quiet for sometime, but itâs only fitting that when he does break the silence, itâs with something annoying.Â
âA cake with no plates is crazy, Y/N.â Eren mumbles.Â
You laugh, as you reach inside the box for the two forks you tucked inside the box. You hand him one, as he tucks the ends of his hair behind his ears, and looks up at you.Â
âGame plan. You eat all the frosting and Iâll eat all the cake.â Eren states.Â
âHuh?âÂ
âOkay, thatâs a little selfish. But itâs my birthday. And I just really hate frosting.âÂ
The thought that comes to your mind is enough to startle you, just in the slightest.Â
Eren really is your soulmate.Â
Itâs stupid. A stupid comparison to make when the person that youâre comparing him to is Ricky James of all people. But you canât help but think about that stupid memory, from before the Met Gala. Ricky had bought you that stupid cupcake â and very irritatingly swiped the frosting off of your finger.Â
And the two of you bickered because you both preferred the frosting as opposed to the actual cake. And naturally, Ricky was never going to be the type to give up his frosting for you.Â
It was sweet that way, with Eren. And youâre sure that the thought of invisible strings and single threads of gold tying you to Eren are really only on your mind because thatâs what you sang to him the last time you got to spend his birthday with him, but it almost seems too perfect.Â
That Eren likes the cake, but you like the frosting. That youâd always finish the cake if you were eating it together.Â
Unbeknownst to you of course, Eren is fully aware of the fact that you are overly fond of the frosting on the cake. And that you have no idea that he really hates eating the spongy cake part and prefers the frosting too.Â
But he doesnât like the frosting nearly enough to not even think twice before offering it to you.Â
--
--
You only grace the red carpet for five minutes. You and Eren are above that at this point. But from what you were able to discern from Twitter backstage, after practicing your first set with Eren, it was eventful enough without you there.Â
Sukuna splashed a glass of wine in Rickyâs already swollen eye from last week. Hyla tripped and fell when she got out of the limo. You and Eren spend a good amount of time reading through the stuff on your feed â and the perfectly timed blind items that you had submitted to every paparazzi company but the WBS were coming out just as you planned them.Â
And surely enough, every single one of them was getting caught off guard when they were asked on the carpet â and couldnât scramble a perfect PR response out.Â
There were three blind items that were yours and the rest were strays. And you were fully intent on making sure that everyone, Danny and Sareen, knew that it was you who submitted them by the end of the night.Â
First, that Ricky James had thrown an insanely murderous bitch fit at the front of the Institute Offices in New York when he found out that he had been replaced as the opening act, by Eren of all people.Â
Which, according to your sources, was true.Â
Second, that the producer for the critically acclaimed Ribbons album, Sareen Clarkson, had been cheating on her husband with industry plant John Stasny, who is twenty years her junior and had previously been linked to several famous actresses, like Historia Reiss.Â
Which was also true. It had only been a few hours since it had been leaked, but the shit train that followed wasn't pretty.
If you were going to call her a fame fucker, you were going to make sure that everyone was going to understand the reference.Â
And the third was that stupid magazine cover that Scott had mailed you and Eren.Â
This was seemingly the last pillar that had to fall in taking down Scott Clarkson and his empire â or at least putting the tiniest bit of a dent in it.Â
The only reason that the WBS was successful in the first place was the same reason that his label and movie company thrived the way they did â they were big enough to eliminate all the competition.Â
But when it came to something like a tabloid, that centered around reporting on drama, it was almost natural to take them down in this way. If they were the only ones that lacked the information, then theyâd be the only ones who would drop the ball on reporting it â and therefore, people would have to divert their attention away to someone else to get the information.Â
The foundation seemed a bit bare, but you were already too far in to oppose it at this point.Â
You feel a little tap on your shoulder and you turn around to find the two people who were going to be accompanying you for your first performance.Â
The dopplegangers of you and Eren â from the Girlfriend and Because I Liked a Boy Performance.Â
âHi guys!âÂ
You reach forward and wrap your arms around both of them as they return the gesture and warmly hug back. Thankfully, they were more than happy to oblige with your second request â third for Penelope if you counted Girlfriend â to pretend to be you and Eren.Â
You almost felt bad for marking this as their legacy so many times, but they were more than happy to oblige â citing the free food and the hefty paychecks as more than enough compensation.Â
âRight, well. Eren, this is Penelope.â you state.Â
âYeah. Yeah, weâve met before. Hi.â Eren responds, the look on his face so painstakingly awkward that you almost feel bad for the prank that youâre about to play on him.Â
âAnd this is Scott.â you respond.Â
Itâs insanely bad timing, since you accidentally mention it while Erenâs taking a swig of his water bottle. And due to the shock, he consequently spits the entire contents back into the bottle and gives the three of you wide eyes.Â
âYour name is fucking Scott?âÂ
âNo, itâs Jason. Y/N paid me three bucks to say that.â he states.Â
Eren looks at you, giving you a downright murderous glare, as he puts the water bottle down.Â
âYou bitch.â Eren grumbles
âItâs funny!â you respond.Â
You shake him off as you turn back to Jason and Penelope and eye the little wardrobe rack on the side.Â
âOkay. Hair and makeup is ready for you two whenever you are. And just remember, that if anyone asks you about the outfits ââÂ
âMine is based on Selene, goddess of the moon.â Penelope states.Â
âAnd mine is Poseidon, god of the sea.â Jason adds.Â
You grin. The two of them give you a passing wave before they walk off to the other side of the stage and Eren makes a dramatic display of shuddering.Â
âWhat?âÂ
âDonât they likeâŚfreak you out?â Eren asks.Â
âWhy would they freak me out?âÂ
âThey literally look like us! And theyâre literally dating too which makes it even weirder!âÂ
You give him a weird look.Â
âThey arenât dating.â you respond.Â
Eren wraps his arm around your shoulder, before twisting you to the side of where their dressing rooms are â where the two of them are standing, kissing.Â
âThat looks really friendly to me.â Eren states, tone dripping with sarcasm.Â
âWhat the hell?âÂ
âItâs weird!â Eren whispers.Â
You shiver.Â
âEw. I donât like that.â you respond.Â
âLevi should hire them to do the kiss next week instead of us. Sure, theyâll enjoy it more than we will.âÂ
You can feel your cheeks burning. You know that itâs not what he meant â surely, that it couldnât have been what he meant in the slightest but the sting still hits all the same.Â
âJesus. Didnât realize you were so opposed to kissing me.â you mumble.Â
Erenâs eyes go wide.
âIâm not opposed to kissing you!âÂ
âYou just suggested that Levi and Hange should literally offer a salary to two people who kind of look like us just so you wouldnât have to kiss me.â you deadpan.Â
âNo! I didnât mean it like that!âÂ
âWellâŚdonât be weird about it! You donât have toâŚwant to kiss me. I know weâre just working and that itâs all like method acting or whatever. Iâm not going to get offended if you donât want to itâs justââ Â
Eren looks agitated. If Sukuna was standing here, you know that he would have no self control and probably piss him off more by asking him if he needed to take a shit.Â
âY/N, just listen. I just donât want to make you uncomfortable because I wrote a kiss into the script and told Levi and Hange that they canât write it out this time.â Eren responds.Â
And just as fast as his eyes go wide, his cheeks are bright pink this time as he suddenly busies himself with worrying about his costume to change the subject.Â
Itâs a hopeful thought and youâre clearly speaking faster than youâre thinking. Because itâs probably against your better judgment to assume that he wrote the kiss in just because he wanted to kiss you.Â
You say it anyway.Â
âYou wrote the kiss into the script?â you ask, giving him a grin.Â
âMy costume seems like itâs going to be tight, right? It looks a little short at the legs? We should see if we can get this fixed in the next twenty minutes before we go on, so I donât look like an idiot, you know?âÂ
You place a hand on his shoulder, to stop him from bouncing up and down on the balls of his feet, and keep him standing on the ground.Â
âYou can relax. I was just messing with you. And your outfit looks fine, I think we should change now so we can make sure I donât go swinging into the audience with the equipment.âÂ
Eren waits for you to finish changing before you walk over to the little makeshift hang-glider that you guys requested. He chooses to ignore commenting about how much he loves it when you wear red for the time being and focuses on making sure you donât plummet to your imminent death from the moon youâre going to be hanging off of.Â
Eren watches as you shuffle on the little seat, before he reaches around you and secures the little belt around your waist. You watch as he tightens it not only twice, but three times, before he reaches for your hand and secures the microphone around it next.Â
âYou know, I understand securing me to the moon but I think the microphone is a little much. Iâm not going to go dropping it.âÂ
âIâm sorry for being overcautious. Iâm not a big fan ofâŚstints that include hanging in the air for so long.â Eren responds, as tightens the strap around your hand again.Â
You pale. Of course he hates these type of things.
âNo. NoâŚIâm sorry. I totally forgot about thatâŚI-I didnât even realize that this might be really nerve wracking for you. We can take this part out ifââÂ
âNo, no. I like the set design. How about you just promise to come back to me in one piece?â Eren asks.Â
You sigh.Â
âOf course.âÂ
And Eren gives you a gleaming, two dimpled smile in response, before he taps your side and walks over to his cue. As they send your little glider into the air, you can actually see the entire audience from the little break in the curtains at the top â and can spot a very annoyed Ricky James sitting front and center.Â
With pink wine stains on his shirt.Â
You look down at Eren, who looks up from his spot, and spares you one last thumbs up before the music stats.Â
You have to give your props to Erenâs team for working out the set exactly as he wanted it. With the ocean on the left, you in the moon on the right, and Jason and Penelope doing their little slow dance on the beach in the middle.Â
Eren:Â You live in my dream state Relocate my fantasy I stay in reality You live in my dream state Any time I count sheep That's the only time we make up, make up You exist behind my eyelids, my eyelids Now I don't wanna wake up
Eren:Â 20-20, 20-20 vision Cupid hit me, cupid hit me with precision I wonder if you look both ways When you cross my mind (Yeah), I said, I said I'm sick of, sick of, sick of, sick of chasing You're the one that's always running through my daydream, I I can only see your face when I close my eyes
And surely enough, they lower you from your little vantage point behind the curtains to the bright flashing lights and the resounding cheers of the crowd â that are barely muffled out by your ear pieces â as you sing your part.Â
Y/N:Â Can I get a kiss? And can you make it last forever? I said I'm 'bout to go to war And I don't know if I'ma see you again
As Eren sings his second verse, theyâre quick to lift the moon back up and off the stage in time for you to climb off â and for you and Eren to replace Jason and Penelope on the beach in the center.Â
You and Eren hadnât really practiced this part, though in hindsight it was simple enough. You just had to keep leaning in until they dimmed the lights â to make it look like you and Eren were going to kiss each other.Â
Y/N:Â Can I get a kiss? (Can I get a kiss?) And can you make it last forever? (Oh, forever) I said I'm 'bout to go to war (Go to war) I don't know if I'ma see you again (See you again) Can I get a kiss? (Can I) And can you make it last forever? (Can you) I said I'm 'bout to go to war ('Bout to) And I don't know if I'ma see you again
Itâs excruciating to do it. To pretend â and in that second, you decide youâre going to kiss him anyways. Because he wraps his hand too perfectly around your neck to pull you closer and instinctively closes his eyes.Â
And then itâs overwhelmingly embarrassing. Because the exact second you time moving forward is when Eren leans back, because theyâve pulled the curtains. And runs off to the side curtains, as you awkwardly stalk back.Â
You try to swallow down that pit of shame in your throat as he turns back towards you, handing you an ice cold water bottle.Â
âThat was great! But was it really hot up there? Your face is all pink.â Eren asks.Â
âUh, yeah. I kind of had a panic up there.âÂ
Eren twists the cap off and instructs you to drink, biting cold enough to taper that burning heat in your cheeks, as he instinctively shakes his head.Â
âI said come back in one piece.âÂ
âI am in one piece.â you grumble back, getting ready to go stalk off to your dressing room until you had to face him again four performances later.Â
Eren doesnât follow when you make it all the way to the little room, as you lean back in the chair and resort to massaging your temples.Â
Too close. That was way too close.Â
âHey?â Eren asks.Â
You can see Eren poking his head into your dressing room, bright green eyes curious as he looks down at you.Â
âWhat?â you ask.Â
âThe answer is yes.â Eren responds.Â
You glare, in irritation.Â
âTo what?âÂ
Eren bends down, pressing a kiss right into the thrumming pulse of your temple.Â
âYou asked me if you could get a kiss. Well really, you asked me seven times if you could get a kiss, but Iâll spare you the entire show.â Eren responds, tapping the frame of the door and giving you a bright smile before he steps back out.Â
You sigh. The quiet moment of hurt that you were holding on to was absolved the second he smiled at you. And multiplied into the biggest, searing feeling in your chest when he kissed you.Â
--
--
Thereâs seven people in your dressing room after the fact. And one of them is Satoru Gojo, who counted as an additional ten people, which is when you take the sign that itâs probably time to duck out of there.Â
You had three options â Connie and Eren who were having way too much fun with your special props, a group that had both Historia and Ymir in it, or Sukuna â who was standing by himself in the corner.Â
There was a very obvious choice.Â
He gives you a noncommittal nod as you walk up to his side and link your arm in with his. Heâs nursing a tiny glass in his hand, which he offers to you. You know him well enough by now to know that itâs going to be some taste buds descreating drink, but decide to drink anyway.Â
And surely enough, it burns all the way down to your esophagus, making you physically recoil as you hand the glass back to him.Â
âJesus. I feel bad for your liver.â you respond.Â
âI actually donât drink that much anymore. My liver is just fine.â Sukuna responds.Â
âThereâs no way. That just destroyed likeâŚa quarter of your lobule.âÂ
âWhat the fuck is a lobule?âÂ
âThe functional unit of the liver!â you respond.Â
If looks could kill, Sukuna would have murdered you then and there. Itâs at that moment that Eren and Connie run up to you, Eren quickly placing his hands on your cheeks to angle your face up towards him and place the little crown on your head.Â
âTrès magnifique!â Eren murmurs.Â
âWow. Who taught you French, Ratatouille?âÂ
âDoes that count as a self-diss? You taught me French, ma lune.âÂ
You lightly shove him in the side, as everyone reaches for their cues on the stage and you crawl to the revolving stage underneath with Eren and Sukuna. And surely enough, Levi and Gojo delivered well on their promise with their prop guy.Â
He perfectly replicated that god forsaken throne Scott was sitting on in that stupid magazine cover. You snag the little crown Eren placed on your head off to admire the work on it â the gold handiwork. You place your hands in the middle and test the fragileness, noting that it takes little to crack the pieces â before you place it back on your head.Â
âSo, who was on the right? Eren or Lana?â you ask.Â
âI was on the right.â Eren responds.Â
The group of you flinch as the music starts blaring above and take it as a sign to stick your earpieces in. And right on timing with the chorus, you can hear the screaming get louder â which youâre positive is people just overreacting to the fact that Gojoâs the first person in the ensemble showcase when he shouldnât even be in it in the first place â and tap your hands nervously on the handles.Â
I wanna be your endgame I wanna be your first string I wanna be your A-Team (whoa-whoa, whoa) I wanna be your endgame, endgame
âSukuna. Thereâs pins right there, thereâs no way sheâs not going to jostle the crown off before she hands it to Lana.âÂ
âGot it.â Sukuna responds, shuffling away as you look back up to Eren.Â
He looks down at you, tucking your hair behind your ear, which has your heart pounding in your throat.Â
âPretty dress.â Eren whispers.Â
You give him a shrug, before laying down the fringe at your sides.Â
âNice suit.â you respond.Â
âEh. Itâs kind of digging into my neck.â Eren responds.Â
You stand up, rocking back on your heels, as you turn to face him. You reach forward, reaching for the top buttons of his dress shirt and task yourself with unbuttoning them.Â
âYou know, you could at least take me on a date first.â Eren grumbles.Â
You hum in response, giving him a smile, as you stop at the third button and reach forward to readjust the layers of his necklaces. His skin is soft and warm underneath your fingertips and it gives you an insanely inappropriate thought.Â
âWhat are you thinking?â Eren murmurs.Â
âNothing.âÂ
âYouâre thinking something naughty.âÂ
âEw. You have such a disgusting choice of words, Eren.â you whine.Â
âWhat was it?âÂ
âNothing, Eren. I was thinking about how pale you are.â you respond, letting go of the chains and reaching back to sit in your little chair.Â
Eren reaches forward, grabbing you by the wrist and pulling you back. Heâs quick with his other hand, securing it around your waist and holding you steady against him. His lips hover right by your ear, the gravel of his whispering makes you nearly squirm.Â
âWhat were you thinking?â Eren asks.Â
âNothing, Eren. Really.âÂ
âIâm not an idiot. Iâve seen that look in your eyes beforeâŚand I know what it means. What were you thinking?â Eren asks.Â
You groan, squirming out of his embrace.Â
Where the hell did Sukuna get lost?Â
âI just thought about something that people would notice, that's all. But we donâtââÂ
âWhat was it?âÂ
You groan, before tucking your hair behind your ears.Â
âIâm wearing red lipstick. And thatâs a fairlyâŚexposed patch of skin. People would notice if IââÂ
âIf you kissed me. Alright, go ahead and do it then.â Eren responds, angling his neck closer to you.âÂ
âEren.âÂ
âCâmon. Itâs almost our turn. You have to be quick with it.â Eren responds, gesturing frantically with your hands.Â
You awkwardly step forward, placing your hands on the sides before you pinch your eyes shut and press a lingering kiss to his neck. You can feel Eren lightly tilt his head back and inhale sharply the second you make contact â but you chose to ignore it.Â
You pull back and examine the mark, though itâs rather faint. Eren clocks it fast enough, as he gestures with his hands again.Â
âAnother one wonât hurt. Câmon.â Eren whispers.Â
âOkay, yeah.â you respond.Â
You press your lips to his neck again, this time earning you Erenâs hand squeezing into your side â where it was resting at your waist â as you pull back and admire the mark. You look back up at him, feeling an itching sensation all over as you give him an awkward smile.Â
âYou guys are fucking insane, you know that?â Sukuna mutters.Â
âSukuna! Where the fuck did you go?â you respond, angrily snatching the little pins from his hands and securing them into your hair.Â
You sit back down on the throne, as you hear the little countdown ringing in your ear, and prepare yourself to sing the last portion of the song. You can feel both of their hands on your shoulders â squeezing hard â as you lift the microphone to your lips.Â
Big reputation, big reputation Ooh, you and me, we got big reputations, ah And you heard about me, oh I got some big enemies (hey) Big reputation, big reputation (yeah) Ooh, you and me, we'd be a big conversation, ah And I heard about you, ooh You like the bad ones too
You rustle the crown off of your head and hand it to Sukuna, who walks over to the edge of the stage and tosses it right to Lana in the front row. Who takes it in her hands and breaks it in half before throwing it behind her back.Â
I hit you like, "Bang" We tried to forget it, but we just couldn't And I bury hatchets but I keep maps of where I put 'em Reputation precedes me, they told you I'm crazy I swear I don't love the drama, it loves me And I can't let you go, your handprint's on my soul It's like your eyes are liquor, it's like your body is gold You've been calling my bluff on all my usual tricks So here's the truth from my red lips Â
I wanna be your endgame (endgame) I wanna be your first string (me and you) (first string) I wanna be your A-Team (be your A-Team now) I wanna be your endgame, endgame I wanna be your endgame (oh, I do) I wanna be your first string (first string) I wanna be your A-Team (A-Team) I wanna be your endgame, endgame

The last part is the most nerve wracking. You had to abandon your sweet post of sitting in between Eren and Mikasa at your table for your last performance of the night â which was going to be announced by Danny and Sareen.Â
Itâs like sitting on pins and needles, getting your hair done and slipping into the sparkly but scratchy dress. And surely enough, when you wait on the edges of the curtain and watch them stage your set â of a grand piano and little star decals â they join you at your side. You can feel your hands shake, nearly dropping the trophy in your hands, as you spare them a glance.Â
Theyâre shorter than you remember and frankly, less intimidating too. That coupled with the fact that Danny has a bright pink eye and the slightest bit of dried blood around his nose.
âWhat happened to your face?â you sneer.Â
Danny rolls his eyes.Â
âAsk your boy-toy.â he responds.Â
You fight the urge to smile, and make a mental note that Eren deserves every bit of your praise when you see him next, as you turn your head back to the stage, where the announcer is presenting the highlights of your career on the back screen. And surely enough, the two of them awkwardly jostle their arms in with yours as the three of you walk out together.Â
You stare blankly out in the audience. And refuse to smile.Â
You can see Eren sitting front and center as he gives you the smallest thumbs up in support.
âOne of our crowning achievements is getting to work with this lovely young lady right here, on some of our most famous albums, like The Lucky One. Please give a well deserved round of applause for the unstoppable Y/N L/N, who will finally be gracing us with her triple threat performance.â Sareen states.Â
You note the drag in her voice when she says the word finally. And you fight the acidic feeling that accumulates in your mouth as youâre suddenly acutely aware of the fact that youâre standing next to the two people you hate the most â who continue to take credit for the one thing thatâs yours.Â
âOut of the three, Y/N has chosen to mimic the signing performance that awarded her this coveted prize. She will be playing her brand new song, vampire, on the piano. A true testament to all the work that the three of us put together as a team, in molding her into a skilled pianist.â Danny states, sticking his hand out to Sareen as the two of them walk off and take a seat right at the front.Â
You can feel your skin steaming as you place the award on the top of the piano and sit down at the keys. Youâre able to catch Sukunaâs striking pink hair moving on your left â to the seats behind Danny and Sareen â as you take that as your cue to start performing.Â
Hate to give the satisfaction, asking how you're doing now How's the castle built off people you pretend to care about? Just what you wanted Look at you, cool guy, you got it I see the parties and the diamonds sometimes when I close my eyes Six months of torture you sold as some forbidden paradise I loved you truly Gotta laugh at the stupidity
âEren. You okay? Youâre shaking the entire table.â Lana asks, leaning over to whisper in his ear.Â
Eren absentmindedly looks down and notices the nervous shaking in his leg, as he turns to his side and spares her a glance. He can note that Lana's concerned because this is starkly similar to the last time the two of them were here together.
When you were singing your isolating, heart-shattering piano ballad about him, while he was hanging his head in between his legs. After you had slapped him, after you had yelled at him after everything that had happened.
That was far from it. It was the way your hands were shaking on the piano keys that was stressing him out. He needed you to make it through the entire thing. Desperately.
âIâm nervous. I think sheâs going to cry.â Eren whispers back.Â
'Cause I've made some real big mistakes But you make the worst one look fine I should've known it was strange You only come out at night I used to think I was smart But you made me look so naive The way you sold me for parts As you sunk your teeth into me, oh Bloodsucker, famefucker Bleedin' me dry, like a goddamn vampireÂ
Youâre crying.Â
Because all you can think about is how the two of them were just standing there, arms linked in with yours, in a moment that was supposed to be yours. That every moment that was supposed to be yours was theirs â and that even at the end of all of that, their still the one standing their proud with their careers when you had to suffer at the hands of it.Â
That taking your career was one thing, but taking advantage of the fact that you knew nothing was another. Because you were a teenager, who was so attached to her dream that she'd do anything to get it, especially when people at the top â were promising it to her.
All at the expense of Eren and his feelings. At the expense of your relationship.
You can feel your hands shaking, your vision entirely blurred as you feel the tears start to pour out of your eyes â your singing voice coming out entirely strained as you continue to push your keys on the piano. And youâre able to strain enough until you get right to the bridge and pause.Â
They had a responsibility to look out for you as an adult. And did the exaxt opposite.
You reach back to the slicked back bun and snag the pink ribbon that was secured into the little hair tie. The same pink ribbon that was dangling from your hair the day you were stranded in that godawful rain. And yank it straight out of your hair and wrap a little bow around the bottom of the award.Â
You wipe the wetness on your cheek, coming back with the slightest smudge on the back of your hand, before you press your hands into the keys and continue singing. The continuation has people rising out of their seats â and you donât fail to notice that Erenâs the first one to do it â as you finish the song.Â
You said it was true love, but wouldn't that be hard? You can't love anyone, 'cause that would mean you had a heart I tried you help you out, now I know that I can't 'Cause how you think's the kind of thing I'll never understand
I've made some real big mistakes But you make the worst one look fine I should've known it was strange You only come out at night I used to think I was smart But you made me look so naive The way you sold me for parts As you sunk your teeth into me, oh Bloodsucker, famefucker Bleedin' me dry, like a goddamn vampire
You take the award and stand up from the bench of the piano to walk straight off the stage, directly to where Sareen and Danny are sitting in the front. Sukunaâs taken the hint to leave the open chair he was sitting in between them and retreats back to his original, as you place the award in between the two of them.Â
âCongratulations. I hope it was everything you ever wanted, assholes.â you seethe.Â
You slam the award down onto the open space between them, enough for them both to jump up in their seats and spill a glass of wine down the length of Sareenâs dress, as you angrily march back to your seat. And surely enough, Eren and Mikasa are waiting there with open arms, ready to wipe your glittery tears away.Â
And as the cameras drop and they cut to commercials for four minutes, you lean your head against Erenâs shoulder as Mikasa pours you a glass of water.Â
âSo fucking good. So fucking amazing, Y/N youââ Eren whispers.
"Eren even punched him in the face earlier, Y/N! It looked like it really hurt." Mikasa murmurs.
You look up at Eren, and he's grinning so hard, that you can't even fight the urge to not smile back.
"Why'd you punch him?" you ask.
"You slapped Scott Clarkson for me. Why am I not allowed to punch Danny for you?" Eren asks.
You feel a tap on your shoulder and look to your left to find Hange and Levi standing at your side, which really only brings on a more powerful stream of tears. Levi instinctively opens up his arms as you lean against his shoulder instead, Eren standing closeby with Sukuna at his side now.
âWas that everything you wanted Hange?â you groan.Â
Hange smiles.Â
âAnd more, kid. I, uh. Actually have something for you.â Hange responds.Â
âWhatâs that?â you ask.Â
Hange gestures to Connie at the side, as he produces a small, golden trophy in Hangeâs hands.Â
âI really donât give a shit about this anymore. Sâkind of how it goes with this type of thing. But, I know this award, this one in my hands specifically meant the world to you back in the day, so I want you to have it.â Hange murmurs.Â
You frown.Â
âHange. You canât just give that to me.â you respond.Â
âYou gave yours away because it gave you more pain than it was worth. Mine did the same for me at the time too. But, it gives me joy to give it back to you, because really, you deserved it. Back then, but even now too.âÂ
You take the little golden trophy in your hands, noting that itâs much smaller and really not even as shiny as the one that they had just handed you, and press it close to your chest.Â
âHange, thank you so much. You have no idea what this even means to me.â you whisper, as you wrap your arms around their neck.Â
Hange spares Eren a glance over the shoulder and gives him a big thumbs up, coupled with Leviâs approving smile.Â
Itâs the rare times that Erenâs overthinking habit comes in handy. When heâs able to think ahead and fix things before they happen.Â
âI have an idea, kid.â Hange responds.Â
--
--
Levi and Hange give you a three day break when you get back to set. Youâre not sure what exactly it was that came out of you when you did your last performance, but it was almost like it drained the life out of you. Eren nearly had to drag you back onto that plane and consequently, to your room, when you made it back to the set.Â
He thinks that youâve finally let go of what youâve been holding on to. And that you can finally move forward now.Â
You told him that Marco must have been haunting him overtime for the past few days, which earned you a hearty laugh from him.Â
And surely enough, on the fourth day, youâre able to muster your legs down to the kitchen â to a group of well meaning cheers from the group of them â as you read the little slots on the schedule pasted on the fridge. And surely enough, Levi was going to throw you right back into the thick of it.Â
Wednesday, April 6th, 8:00 AMÂ
Eren Head DecapitationÂ
Itâs a stupid caption. If you didnât know what it meant, you would even laugh at it.Â
But you had read ahead already â and knew that it meant that it was finally time for you and Eren to get that kiss scene out of the way.

â¨movie night with the hidden inventory gcâ¨
*:シďžâ§cast: gojo, geto, shoko, utahime, nanami, and haibara
â§summary: a one shot of the hidden inventory friend groupâs movie night
âĄa/n: iâm back!!! guys please appreciate my efforts with this one this took me several attempts to post and way longer than usual to write
ŕžŕ˝˛warnings: language; gojo and geto are their own warnings atp; no beta we die like suguruâs tea mug
after the discussion regarding which movie they were planning to watch that night had ended, you wrapped up whatever homework you had left before changing into more comfortable clothes and heading to shokoâs dorm a bit early to help her set up.
upon arriving, you find that utahime had the same idea as she was currently standing by the microwave waiting for a bag of popcorn to finish cooking.
shoko was at her laptop, looking perplexed, so you walked over to her to see if she needed help.
âiâve been trying to get into our disney+ account so i can stream cars onto the tv, but it keeps saying that the password is incorrectâ, she explains. âdid gojo change the password again?â
âi donât think soâŚdid you put the question mark at the end?â
shoko paused for a moment before typing something into the password bar. sure enough, the app finally let her in.
she stared at her laptop in disbelief for a solid minute before responding.
âhuh, that seemed to do it. thanks.â
you nodded, chuckling lightly, before walking over to utahime, who was microwaving what appeared to be the fifth bag of popcorn.
âdamn, do we really need that much popcorn?â, you asked.
âif it were just us girls i wouldâve stopped at three or four. but thereâs going to be seven of us, and you know how gojo is with snacksâ, she responded.
âgood point.â
the two of you continued to chat for a bit, shoko joining in once she finished setting up the movie.
eventually, the boys finally showed up with a couple snacks as well as a few bottles of soda, which they set on the counter.
âalright, thatâs everyone. shall we start the movie?â, shoko asked.
everyone agreed, grabbing a couple snacks and drinks before settling themselves on either the couch or the floor in front of the tv as shoko presses play on the remote to behind the movie.
as the movie played on, the room was filled with all sorts of chaos. for starters, gojo would not stop quoting lines from the movie, which, while slightly annoying, was tolerable. eventually haibara joined in for a bit, seeing as heâd watched that movie at least a hundred times.
it eventually got tiring though, especially once gojo started quoting lines from completely different movies, and so geto ended up lightly tapping him on the shoulder to get him to stop.
speaking of those two, once gojoâs focus had shifted to his boyfriend, the two of them were practically glued to each other with how close they were. this didnât exactly surprise you, since gojo is the king of being clingy, especially around geto, and the latter of the two never minded it despite not being super clingy himself.
âalright, you two need to either get a room or stop making out on my floor, because some of us are trying to watch the god damn movieâ, shoko complained after about ten minutes of their behavior.
âi mean iâm not opposed to- ow!â
whatever gojo was planning to say next was cut off by you smacking him from the couch.
âmaking out during a disney movie is crazy, you twoâ, you stated.
âfair pointâ, geto responded, lightly shoving gojo off his lap, to the latterâs dismay.
nonetheless, the two of them settled down after a while, so your attention shifted back to the movie.
about halfway through, you started feeling tired, which made sense seeing as it was getting kind of late and youâd had a pretty long day. all the same, you did your best to stay awake, as things in the movie were starting to get real interesting.
you reached into one of the popcorn bowls to grab a few pieces to keep yourself awake. in doing so, your hand brushed against another hand, causing you to pause.
you glanced at nanami, who had reached into the popcorn bowl at the same time you did. the two of you sat there for a moment, neither one lifting your hands from the bowl.
after what seemed like a couple minutes, you finally lifted your hand out of the bowl, a few pieces in your hand.
âlooks like we had the same ideaâ, you remarked with a laugh, popping a piece of popcorn into your mouth.
âlooks like itâ, nanami responded, a small smile forming on his face as he too grabbed a few pieces of popcorn.
you heard a cough, so you turned to see utahime staring at the two of you, a knowing smile on her face. you stared back at her, hinting for her to back off.
eventually, towards the end of the movie, you were getting more and more tired, to the point where even popcorn wasnât enough to keep you awake. the last thing you remember before dozing off was the start of the final race.
you woke up slowly to someone gently shaking you awake.
âhey guys, time to wake up, movie just endedâ, haibara stated.
you took a glimpse of your surroundings, noticing that the nearly-empty bowl of popcorn had now toppled onto the floor, spilling a few kernels. you then noticed that youâd fallen asleep leaning against nanami, who in turn had fallen asleep against the armrest of the couch.
haibara was standing in front of the two of you, currently trying to wake up nanami, who was still sound asleep against the armrest. you sat up quickly, hoping that he hadnât noticed you dozing off on him, but you figured he mustâve since the second you got up was when he finally woke up, slightly dazed and tense as he glanced around the room, presumably to find where youâd gone.ďżź
once he noticed you sitting next to him, he let out a sigh of relief, looking more relaxed.
âyou okay, man?â, haibara asked, looking slightly confused.
nanami turned to face the brown-haired boy, looking as if heâd just noticed his presence.
âoh, sorryâŚiâm fine, justâŚitâs nothing.â
you and haibara looked at him suspiciously, feeling that it wasnât just ânothingâ, but didnât pry.
âiâm fine, you two. seriously.â
you opened your mouth to say something, but before you could, you heard shoko calling for the three of you.
âhey! are you two sleepyhead lovers and hai going to help me clean up or what?â
âthe WHAT?â, you exclaimed, looking at shoko with an mixed expression of shock and confusion all at once. meanwhile, haibara was looking like he was trying not to laugh while nanami was awkwardly looking around the room, trying to avoid eye contact, a twinge of pink starting to show on his face.
ânothing! donât worry about it, now come help us clean up!â
you signed, knowing you werenât going to get a legitimate answer from her, at least not right now, so you got up from the couch and started cleaning up, the other two boys following suit.
but as you were clearing up the kitchen, you couldnât help but think about what shoko said.
lovers?, you thought to yourself. but how could that be? weâre just friends, after allâŚ
but then you started to look more into it, moments of the night playing through your mind. the small smile he gave you when your hand brushed against his earlier, the way neither of you pulled away immediately, his slight blush at shokoâs jab at the two of you, the way he rose up from his sleep the second he no longer felt your presence, all of it.
the more and more you thought about it, the more and more you realized that perhaps the other girls had a point.
âyou okay?â
you snapped back into reality as you turned to face nanami, who was looking at you with concern.
âyeah, iâm fine, justâŚtiredâ, you tell him, giving him a reassuring smile.
you werenât entirely sure if nanami believed you, but he didnât show it if he didnât.
âi see. anyway, the others are planning to crash here for the night. the cleaningâs pretty much done if you wanted to head to bed.â
sleep did sound pretty nice right then and there, so you nodded.
âyeah, that might be a good idea, it is pretty lateâŚâ
the two of you headed back to the living room space. nanami returned to his spot on shokoâs couch, leaning against the armrest, while you sat next to him and tried to fall asleep sitting upwards, not wanting to invade his personal space nor accidentally wake up haibara, who had taken up the other side of the couch.
âthereâs no way thatâs comfortableâ, nanami remarked as he noticed your attempts.
âsorry, didnât want to intrude or anythingâ, you replied.
âi didnât mind the first time, why would i mind now?â, he asked. âmake yourself comfortable. i promise i donât mind.â
with that, you hesitantly went back to leaning against nanami, finding him a lot more comfortable than trying to sleep sitting up.
before long, you were finally starting to fall asleep. you felt an arm gently wrap itself around you, and while you certainly didnât expect it, you didnât try to pull away, nor did you feel uncomfortable. instead, you felt at ease, like this was natural, almost.
by the time sleep came to take you away for the night, you were pretty certain that nanami had some sort of feelings for you.
hell, at this point, you were starting to think that you did, too.
oh god this ended up longer than i expectedđ

Too Good to be True (part one)
You knew it was too good to be true.
When your mumâs quirky bohemian friend Sylvia told you that she needed someone to house sit over the summer, you never realised it would look like this. You had always known she was well-off, but it turns out Sylvia was rich rich. Her house was in a beautiful area of London you had never been before, full of tall semi terraced Georgian buildings with big ornate gardens. It was the sort of area almost exclusively frequented by yummy mummies and incognito celebrities.
As you walk around all the gorgeous rooms, tenderly stroking the furniture, you felt like you couldnât have wished for a nicer place if you tried. After living in an awful house share with terrible roommates for the last six months, you were ready for some alone time.
This was not to be. On your first day in the house, after several hours exploring all the nooks and crannies, you eventually fall asleep in her massive bed around midnight; however, you are rudely awoken about four hours later by the sound of arguing outside. You try to ignore them but it only gets louder, until you are forced to put on one of Sylviaâs many(!) silk robes and investigate.
You march outside to see two men facing each other in the doorframe of the house attached to yours.
âWould you two mind shutting the fuck up? Itâs 4am and some of us are trying to sleep?â
They both turned around. They are both incredibly handsome; one is dark and surly looking and standing outside with his arms crossed. The other has an incredible jawline and floppy boyband hair, and is still standing in the doorway. The boyband one looks you up and down and you feel your cheeks heat up. Itâs times like these you regretted sleeping in the nude, as you huddle the way-too-thin robe tightly around you. He eventually folds his arms indignantly and opens his mouth.
âLove, you donât understand, weâre -â
âI do not give a flying fuck who you are, just be quiet. I havenât had a good nightâs sleep in months and Iâm not about to have two bozos ruin it with their loverâs tiff.âÂ
You huff, turning swiftly back indoors before a sharp nightâs breeze could expose you.
The surly man who had remained quiet for this entire exchange turns to his friend.
âI like her.â
____
The next morning, you open the front door to find a small beautiful wrapped box.On the label it just says,
Hey Neighbour,
Sweet DreamsÂ
Jamie xx
Jamie. That must have been the floppy haired one.
You tentatively open it to find a small pair of earplugs. The cheeky git.Â
However, that night when you climb into bed, you spot the box of earplugs. You donât want to use them out of spite, but also you are shattered and couldnât risk getting woken up again.
You were surprised to wake up a whole 12 hours later. It's the best you've felt in a long time. You look up the earplugs online and it turns out they are very expensive. He may be rude, but at least he wasn't cheap. You consider thanking him, especially as you start regularly seeing him stretching or working out in the garden, until one day he catches you looking. He waves at you with the smug grin of a prick who knows how good he looks, and you have to immediately walk away. At this point you decide never to talk to him again if you can help it. After all, it was just one summer - how much could you see him really?
Itâs the next Sunday when you are walking home from your weekly shop in perhaps your grossest sweats, hair everywhere and glasses still on. To make matters worse, you're struggling as you always buy too much to fit into your bag.
Itâs at this point when some dreadful orange sports car pulls up next to you and honks their horn, making you nearly jump out of your skin and drop half your stuff on the ground. You turn around just to see a familiar smug face as he waves at you before speeding off. No, he is a prick.
After you make it home, you decide to forget all about him. But these are old houses, and the walls are thinner than youâd like. More specifically, a week or so later, as you get into bed you think you can hear a voice. You think it may be a ghost, until you hear a distinct Mancunian twang and you realise that Jamieâs bedroom is directly connected to yours (or at least one of them was, who was to say how many bedrooms these sorts of houses had.) Itâs when you hear another, softer voice that you realise that maybe Jamie has company.
But itâs fine. Heâs allowed to have people over. You go back to your book until ten minutes later, when you start hearing very different noises. He definitely was not alone. And clearly whoever he was with was having a great time.
Your stomach tightens. This isn't just annoying at this point, itâs downright depressing. You can't remember the last time someone made you feel like that. As much of a patronising shit as he was, you had to admit that Jamie was very attractive. You try to keep reading, but you soon find your imagination straying into unwanted territory. Your entire body goes flush when you catch yourself, so you put your earplugs in and go to sleep. Eventually.
â-
It's a blisteringly hot day and you've made the mistake of buying yet another heavy shop. As you're walking home, you're covered in sweat. You're trying to get home as fast as you can before some of the food defrosts in this heat, but it's like wading through hot sticky mud.
You take one more step and suddenly feel a bit lightheaded. You stagger to a nearby wall and sit down, looking down at your feet. It's at this point that of course you see out of the corner of your eye, a familiar orange car pulling up in front of you. You wave a hand away.
"Not now Jamie."Â
"Are you alright?"
You look up and he's got a genuine look of concern on his face.
"Yeah, I just needed a breather. If you haven't noticed, it's very hot out here."
He pauses for a moment.
"Did you want a lift?"
"I'm good, thanks. It's not that far."
"Don't be daft, just get in the car."
"Jamie -"
"It's got really good air con."
You look at your bags. You really didn't want the food to go bad in this heat.
"Fine."
You drop your bags into the bag and slide into the seat next to him. You can't help but notice how gross and sweaty you were on his nice leather seats.
"Sorry, I'm very gross and sweaty." You immediately say without thinking.
He looks over and laughs.
"Trust me, this car has seen a lot worse."
You groan.
"Oh come on, I don't need to imagine that."
"I just meant after training, Jesus woman, get your head out of the gutter!"
"Training for what?"
He laughs again. "You're joking, right?"
You shake your head.
"You seriously don't know who I am?"
"Should I?"
He smiles as he looks back out to the road.
"Nah, I guess not."
You look around his car.
"All I need to know is that you've clearly got more money than sense."
"Oi, I'm doing you a favour here like a bloody gentleman!"
âI mean I donât know if this is really a favour. You could be kidnapping me for all I know.â
âLove, Iâve got more than enough money. I do not need to kidnap some random bird for a ransom.â
âWho says youâre doing it for money?â
He sighs and shakes his head.
âYouâre impossible, you know that?â
âImpossible, or just practical? Us ârandom birdsâ have got to look out for ourselves.â
âWell then, Your Highness, we have arrived.â Jamie signals to your door as the car pulls to a stop. âYou can get out now, I promise.â
You get out and go to get your bags, but Jamie quickly grabs them and is walking to your door. You run ahead, making sure youâll be able to get in and clear any embarrassing debris before he can see it.
"You don't have to do that, you know."Â
He shrugs. "I used to help my mum carry her shopping all the time when it was just me and her. Now I just pay to get it delivered to her house."Â
You stop at the front door. The admission strikes you. You wondered for a moment what Jamie was like when he was younger. You wondered where his dad was. However, Jamie didnât understand your silence.
âIâm not trying anything, I swear. I wonât come in and âŚâ He looks around. âSteal your knickers or whatever.â
You scoff as you turn around.
âThatâs a weird thing to say.â
He huffs in exasperation.
âLook, my arms are going to drop off, can you just open the bloody door already?â
âAlright, but if any one of my knickers are gone, youâre in serious trouble.âÂ
âAye aye captain.â He tries to salute, but wacks himself in the face with one of the bags. You stifle a laugh, before letting him in. He smiles at you for a moment, and you feel an unfamiliar warm feeling in your chest. Best to just ignore that and get back to the task at hand.
As you put everything away, he looks around. There are unfinished canvas and paint everywhere.
"Are you one of them fancy pants artists then?"
"Not yet. I'm one of those unpaid ones.â You suddenly feel very shy. âI'm just house-sitting for the summer, I'm not rich. Unlike you.â
âSo no one is paying your ransom then?â
âNo one would pay good money for me. In fact, they might actually pay you for taking me away.â You say it flippantly, but Jamie sees the slightly dejected look on your face.
âSo maybe you should be the one kidnapping me, eh? I tell you, Iâd go for a pretty penny.â He gently biffs your arm. You donât look at him, continuing to pack away the shopping.
âWell if I ever have to turn to a life of crime, youâll be the first to know.â
He stands around for a minute, as if heâs not sure what to do with himself, before going to leave.
âThanks, by the way.â You call out.
He turns around and shrugs.
âAny time.â
âI wouldnât say that if I were you. Next thing you know, youâll be my personal Uber.â
He jogs down the front steps, without looking back.
âOnly if you start tipping!â
___
A few days later, you're gardening when suddenly a ball crashes into the ground right near your hand. You scream, causing Jamie to pop his head over.
"Jesus Jamie, are you trying to kill me?"
You stand up and dust your knees. He's got that concerned look on his face yet again.Â
"Are you alright?"
You reassure him. "I'm fine, you just missed me.â You pinch your fingers almost together. âJust."
He looks sheepish.
"I'm sorry."
You fold your arms.
"You should be."
As you say this, two other men peer their head over the fence.
"Sorry miss. We're just playing a round of cricket."Â One replies in a soft Welsh accent. Behind them, you notice the surly man sitting in the back of the garden, who nods at you.
"Roy's taking a break if you want to join?" Jamie offers you the bat.
"Are you asking me to play with you Jamie?"Â
"Well, you're less likely to get hit in this garden."
"Hmmm." You think of all the empty canvas you were ignoring. "Fine, but let me get changed first."
As you start to walk into the house, one of the boys turns to Jamie.
"You didn't tell me your neighbour was fit."
"Isaac, donât even think about it.â Jamie chides him. Something about this made your stomach feel squiggly, but you couldnât put a name on it.Â
This squiggly feeling means it takes you a little longer than planned to get dressed, as you meticulously scrub the dirt from your hands and knees and maybe apply a tinted lipbalm or two. By the time you come back out, the men seem to have doubled and one of them has somehow set up a barbecue. The game of cricket seems long forgotten as they sit and drink around the fire pit. You pick up a beer bottle and wander around, trying to slip into one of the group conversations.
âWhen do you think Ted and Rebecca will get together?â A man with a strong french accent says.
âI dunno, I still think him and Trent have got something going on.â Colin muses thoughtfully. Isaac nods with him.
âYeah man, there were vibes between them at Christmas.â
You decide to pipe up now before you have to figure out who Ted, Trent or Rebecca was.
"Sorry to interrupt, but how do you all know each other?".
The boys look at each other, then Jamie.
"We all play football together." Jamie finally breaks the silence.
"Oh that's cute!â You look around at this crew. They are all very handsome, but all looked very different, from all walks of life. âIt's so hard to make friends as an adult I find, so it's good to have hobbies. Do you think I'll be allowed to come to one of your matches?"
They all look at each other again and start to laugh. You think you've missed something but you figure it's some inside joke.
One of the guys, who you think you heard referred to as Sam, leans forward. "So Miss, what do you do for a living?"Â
You take a swig from your bottle.
"I'm an art teacher. I teach at the local college, although it's mainly adult evening classes. You know the saying, âthose who can't do, teachâ. At least, thatâs what my dad likes to say."
"But you can do though." Jamie pipes up from behind his beer. "I've seen all them canvas in your house."
"Ah, you are a painter. Are you more of a modernist or post modernist?" Jan, the tall Dutch one asks.
"I donât know, I mean I've got a show at the end of the summer which I'm preparing for but I'm not very good-"
"If you've got a show you must be good. Or at least someone thinks so." Jamie folds his arms.
âI mean, I guess, the guy at the gallery did personally invite me-.â
âThere you go.â Jamie nodded triumphantly.
âCan we see them? The paintings?â Sam asked.
âNot yet! They are nowhere near ready!â This was somewhat true. For the most part, you had barely started. You had been struggling for inspiration lately, but you werenât going to tell this extremely attractive group of men that. âYouâll have to come to the art show. Iâve got some flyers in the house. I can get them if you like?â
The boys enthusiastically nod, and you make sure to hand them each one, with Jamie receiving the last flyer. Your fingers brush for a moment, and you find yourself staring at each other a bit too long until you are interrupted by a loud cough.
âThe meat is ready, Jamie.â Roy loudly announced.
âComing!â
The rest of the night goes quickly in a blur, as all the boys bombard you with questions and you find yourself chatting to all of them in depth. Youâre pretty sure you know all their life stories by the end of it. Eventually, the night wears on and they all slope off one by one until itâs just you, Jamie and Roy left. Roy is sound asleep on Jamieâs couch, and the two of you quietly start cleaning up.
âYou donât have to help me, you know.â Jamie says. âIâm a big boy, I can clean up after meself.â
You drop a can into the recycling bag.
âI know. But a nice guy dropped me off when I was struggling to take my shopping home, so I thought Iâd return the favour.â
Jamie stopped what he was doing.
âYou donât owe me anything.â
You looked at him confused.
âI know.â
The two of you go back to tidying in silence.
âSo, Isaac thinks Iâm fit, does he?â
Jamie drops the bottle he was holding. He frantically grabs a dustpan and brush and frantically starts brushing the broken glass. Roy stirs for a minute, then rolls back over. You gently took the dustpan off him and empty it into the bin.
âNo! Er, I mean, he does, but he thinks anything with a pulse is fit.â
âSo youâre saying heâs got low standards?â
âNo, thatâs not what I meant, itâs just- just-â
âIâm teasing. I obviously know that just means he has excellent taste.â
âAnd I thought I had a big head.â
âI mean, you do, but thatâs beside the point.â
âOi, I can say it, but you canât!â At this point, Jamie puts down the bag and picks up the hose.
âWhat do you think youâre doing with that?â You ask.
âWhat do you think?â He says, before switching it on, chasing you with the spray. You run away, screaming.
âIâll get you for this!âÂ
âOh yeah? What are you going to do to me?â He moves the hose to catch you again, but at the exact same time Roy walks outside and Jamie catches him in the face. You both freeze.
âWell Iâll see you tomorrow, Jamie!â You quickly leave, waving a goodbye as you start to hear the beginning of Royâs bollocking.
Later, as you go up to your bedroom and dry your hair with a towel, you spot Jamie and Roy chatting in the garden. Jamie looks up at you and smiles. You smile and wave back, before pointing at your still soaking t-shirt.
âI hope youâre proud.â You mouth at him. He shrugs and you shake his head.
Roy turns to Jamie.
âWhen are you just going to fucking ask her out already?â
___
After the barbecue you start to see Jamie more often.Â
He almost always drops you home from your big shop, and sometimes drops you there too. He always says hello when you're in the garden and even starts asking for gardening advice.Â
One day, when it is too hot, you buy a child's paddling pool to sit in your bikini. Jamie, who has been trying and failing to do his workout in the sun, asks if he can join you and the two of you sit in it in silence until the sun goes down. Both of you are definitely not checking each other out behind your sunglasses when the other isnât looking.
Then one night, you go out with some of your old university friends. What was meant to be just one drink turns into several bottles and you find yourself outside the front door at 3am trying to get the key to work.Â
After what feels like forever, you hear a door open.
"Oh, how the turn tables."
"Hello Jamie." You slur a little, swaying gently. "If you don't mind I could really do with focusing right now."
"Well it seems like you are doing just fine without me, so I'll leave you to it." He goes inside, sighing before coming straight back out again.
"Do you want to come in? Maybe have a cup of tea? Some toast?"
Your shoulders sag, "I would love that, yes. My feet are absolutely killing me." You follow him as enthusiastically as you can while he gently takes your arm and guides you in.
You flop down on the couch, quickly taking off your shoes and putting your feet up.
"Jamie, how long have you lived here?"
"About six months, why?"
"There's no decoration in here at all. This is the house of a killer, Jamie." He pops back around holding two mugs.
"I mean, I dunno. I'm not sure how to make it look good.
"It doesn't have to look good. It's your house. It just has to make you happy. What makes you happy Jamie?"
He takes a minute to think, screwing up his face in concentration.
âBums?â
âBums?â
âI like what I like.â
âHmmm. We can work with that. Perhaps a big tasteful nude somewhere around here.â You wave your hand towards the fireplace.
âDo you paint nudes?â Jamie pauses for a moment. âNude is them pictures of naked people right?â
âYeah they are and are you asking me to paint you a nude Jamie? Men usually slide into my DMS for that sort of thing.â
âNot like that. I just think your art is really cool. It reminds me of that guyâŚwhatâs his name? Frankie Bakeoff?â
âFrancis Bacon?â
âYeah, thatâs the one.â
âHeâs actually one of my inspirations. You know, you've got a good eye Jamie.â
He sits down, placing the mugs on the table.Â
âEr, Iâve got two good eyes actually.â He remains completely deadpan and at this point, you let out a proper laugh.Â
âYou know I never asked you what you do for a living. I mean, youâre obviously a comedian but you know, for money. Especially to live in a place like this.â
âIâm a footballer.â
âHaha, yeah, good one.â
âI donât know why thatâs so hard to believe. My name is Jamie Tartt and I play for AFC Richmond.âÂ
You squint at him, before pulling out your phone. You type in âJamie Tartt.â And suddenly there are thousands and thousands of articles and pictures with tiny Jamies staring back at you.
âOh my god. And all those boys at the BBQ -â
âThey are my teammates.â
âWhy didnât you say anything earlier?â You cry out, putting your face in your hands. âI told all of them about my dadâs five a side! They must all think Iâm a complete idiot!â
âNah. They all thought it was pretty cute.â
âIâm glad someone finds my stupidity cute.â
âI dunno, I think a lot of stuff you do is cute.â
Your face goes red. He canât have meant that. You look at him. He truly is beautiful, although he must know it. You remembered the woman in his room. He could get anyone and you know it.
âHave you ever done modelling Jamie?â
âI mean yeah. Iâve done shoots for stuff. Adidas, Nike and my own fragrance for men, Tarttbreaker.â
âWhat the hell does that even mean? You know what, never mind, I was just wondering..would you fancy posing? For a painting?â You look at your feet. âItâs just, Iâm so sick of painting myself and oranges at this point.â
His eyes light up.
âReally? You want to paint me?â
âDonât let it go to that massive head of yours Tartt.â
âI canât promise anything.â He sits down next to you, placing the mugs on the table. The throbbing in your feet still hasnât gone away, and without thinking you start rubbing your soles. Curse those beautiful shoes, you think to yourself.
âHere, I can help with that.â You didnât realise Jamie was staring at your feet.
âWhat?â
âTrust me, Iâm really good at foot rubs.â
âIs this some weird foot thing?â
âNo, you perv. My physio showed me some really good tricks. You know the physio I have because I am a professional footballer, yeah?â You roll your eyes as he gently takes your foot.
âYouâre never going to let me live that do-â
You canât finish the sentence as you are distracted by just how good it feels. A small âfuckâ slips out.
âIs that alright? I didnât hurt ya, did I? I can stop.â
âNo, no no no. No.â
You are surprised by your own enthusiasm. He slowly starts again, and you say nothing, until a small moan slips out. Jamieâs head suddenly whips up.Â
âI mean, I think my ankles are more sore than anything -â He moves his hands up, moving his thumbs in slow circles. You thought this would improve things, but itâs just making things worse. Your heart is racing.
âAnd what about your calves?â
You nod dumbly. âTheyâre pretty - pretty sore too.â
His hands hesitantly move up your leg, up to your knees. His face inches closer to yours, his hands about to move down your thigh, when your stomach very loudly rumbles. He jumps up and your legs close shut.
âI was going to make you toast.â
âYes, yes you were.â He leaves the room and you lie back on the couch. Your head is spinning.. What is going on? You think as your eyes slowly start to close.Â
By the time Jamie finally returns to the room, two very distracted attempts at toast later, you are fast asleep on the couch. He picks up a blanket and covers you, before heading upstairs. He then lies down, closing his eyes for just a minute, until there is a soft knock on the door.Â
âAre you ready for training, fuckhead?â
âShh.â He points to you, sound asleep and snoring.
Roy tilts his head. Jamie whispers. âIâll explain later.â
______
You wake up with a pounding headache. It takes you a second to realise you are not in your bed. You are on someoneâs couch. Jamieâs couch.
You look at your phone. 9:03am. You look around for any sign of him, but it seems like heâs gone already. YOu decide to wash up the mugs, before you spot it on his fridge. There is no decoration in any of his flat, except one flyer that is stuck on the fridge. Your flyer.
You smile, before finding a piece of paper and a pen.
That afternoon, you return to your flat. Looking at your big canvas you know what to do.
___
Jamie finally gets back to his flat and he is exhausted. He hasnât been able to stop thinking about last night, and as he suspected, you are long gone by the time he gets home.
However, as he walks through, he notices a little note stuck on the fridge in front of your flyer.Â
Thanks for the tea and the footrub.
You can wake me up any time.
X
PS. Let me know when youâre free, you poser.
With your number added to the bottom.
He canât help but smile to himself, before wandering out into the garden.
He hopes to see you there, but youâre not. He looks back towards the house and stops dead in his tracks. He can see you in one of the rooms, in front of one of your canvas. But you are completely naked.Â
He looks away. He knows he shouldnât. But maybe he just imagined it. He takes another quick look to confirm, you are definitely naked as the day you were born. You have your back to him, but itâs clear you are looking in some sort of mirror. He suddenly realises. Youâre painting yourself. He walks quickly inside and decides itâs time to go to bed. He puts his earplugs in and goes to sleep. Eventually.
Thanks for reading! You can read chapter two here!

Drew and y/n finding out sheâs pregnant after trying for a couple months maybe years?
A Trying Process
Pairing: Drew Starkey x Reader
Warnings: Troubles Getting Pregnant
Pronouns: She/Her
Word Count: 0.7K
Masterlist
Motherhood had terrified Y/N before Drew came along. She never thought that she could be a good parent. She didnât know anything about kids and dealing with the grosser side of parenting really didnât appeal to her. Y/N had also never thought that she would get married before thirty, yet she found herself walking down the aisle in a white dress four years ago at twenty-two. She just knew her life was meant to be intertwined with Drew, so the decision was easy. Two years into the marriage she finally realized that having a child wouldnât be so bad if she got to do it with him. She had been watching him play with her baby nephew when she made the decision that she was ready to take the next step in their marriage. They had love. They had the career. And they had the house. All they needed now was the laughter of a small human.Â
Theyâve been trying for almost two years and they are losing hope. If they couldnât conceive in two years, they would adopt and that deadline is fast approaching. Not that adopting a child wouldnât be the same, but it would still mean another long process and the possibility of not getting a kid is still possible.Â
Y/N has been feeling off lately. Some of her favourite clothes no longer fit properly and she has been puking more often. She tries to do the math of when her last period was, realizing she skipped last month. She debates taking a test and telling Drew her suspicions. Theyâve taken so many tests over the past few years that she isnât sure she can handle getting her hopes up again. At least, theyâve never gotten a false positive before. Y/N hunches over the toilet, emptying the contents from last nightâs dinner into the bowl. Sheâs glad that she doesnât have work today, so she wonât be late. Drew walks into the room and kneels beside her. His hand wrap around her hair to create a ponytail. The other rubs her tummy for comfort. âYouâve been puking a lot recently. Maybe you should take another pregnancy test?â Drew suggests. Y/Nâs stomach no longer holds any content, so she closes the lid and flushes the toilet. He pulls her into his hold, kissing her on the temple. She shakes her head, âI donât know if I can take another. I feel it takes a little part of me every time it comes back negative. Maybe this is a sign, Love. Maybe Iâm not meant to be a mother.â
Drew pulls her back so he can look into her eyes. âDonât you dare say that, Sweetheart. You will absolutely make a great mother. Whether it be to a biological child or an adopted one, the kid will be lucky to have you,â Drew assures her with a kiss. âI know itâs painful whenever we get a negative, but Iâm hopeful that it wonât be this time. Whatever we get, weâll deal with it together.â His hand grips hers and he brings it to his lips.Â
Y/N takes the test from under the sink. They had been stockpiling them because theyâd been using so many over the past year. She doesnât need to read the instructions; she knows them by heart. She goes through the motions of taking the test with Drew by her side and they both sit on the bathroom floor while they wait for the test to asses her status. Drewâs alarm goes off. Beep. Beep. Beep. It was now time to see if their lives were going to change forever or not. They stand up together and walk over to the counter where the test awaits. She squeezes his hand to let him know that she wants him to be the one who picks it up. His hand shakes as he brings the test up for them to look at. Pregnant.
Both soon-to-be parents look shocked at the words, not believing what they are seeing. âIâm pregnant,â Y/N states. They both turn toward each other and a grin forms on both of their faces. Drewâs hand pumps in the air, âWe are going to have a baby!â His arms circle her waist and he picks her up to spin her. âWe are going to be parents,â she celebrates with laughter. Drew sets her down on the ground with a kiss. His forehead places itself on hers, âI know this was a trying process, Sweetheart. But we did it.âÂ

bakugou x reader
halloween costumes, named children, some cute family fluff, selfship coded, ~800 wc, divider @/cafekitsune
"Katsuki, you have to come out."
You hear a sad grunt on the other side of the bathroom door, and you can picture the way his face is contorting in the mirror already.
It was almost cruel of your daughter to ask this of him, but she doesn't know that.
"If you won't come out I'm coming in." You open the door and press your lips together, willing yourself not to laugh.
Your strong and prideful husband stares at himself in the mirror; green curls frame his face, a yellow cape hangs off his shoulders, and he's fitted with Deku's signature jump suit.
"I hate this." He narrows his eyes at himself in the mirror. "Do I have to wear the wig, can't I have some dignity?"
"You have to wear it for photos at least." He grumbles as you lean your head on his shoulder. Even covered in green he still looks like himself. "Wait, you forgot one very important part."
You grab an eyeliner pencil from your makeup drawer and turn his face, drawing Midoriya's four freckles on each cheek.
"There, the finishing touch." He groans, and you take his head into your hands. "Just wait until you see Katsuno, she's so excited to be her hero."
His mouth twists to the side, most likely wondering why he even agreed to match with her. But you remember how his eyes sparkled when she came home from preschool overwhelmed with excitement saying that she wanted to match costumes with him. She only slipped it in afterwards that she would be dressing as him, and that of course he would have to be Deku.
Katsuki makes peace with his reflection and turns to you, "So can I get a Halloween kiss?"
He puckers his lips, grabbing onto you before you can dance out of his reach. "Just a kiss for your hero," he makes kissy sounds like the menace he is and you erupt into laughter, pushing his face away and trying to bend over backwards to get away from his assault.
"Ew! Daddy, that's gross!" Your youngest, Natsumi, stands in the doorway, her hand on her hip and fairy wings on her back. The sparkle makeup you let her do herself makes her serious look very much the opposite.
Katsuki lets go of you, and gets into a crouching position, hands in the air like he's some sort of monster. "It's your turn for kisses then!"
He chases her out of the bathroom and down the hall, rounding the corner into the girls' room, but Katsumi jumps out of the doorway holding up her hand to command a stop. Her hair is up in a ponytail, accented with Bakugouâs own hair spikes, her costume an almost near replica for his own, down to the knee pads and the boots.
"Stop!" Her little voice makes Katsuki freeze in his tracks, he grunts and lunges after her and your daughter squeals and runs into her room, with her father/monster/Deku on her tail.
"It's not every day you see prohero Deku chasing a squealing Dynamite!" You call down the hallway as you grab the last pieces of your costume.
"It's Great Explosion Murder God Dynamight to you!" Katsuki and Kasuno yell out in unison.
Your oldest, Takumi, appears next to you. His ninja costume must be working some type of magic because where did he even come from?
He shakes his head at the racket, "Those two are too much alike."
"Don't I know itâŚ" you laugh at the screams coming from the girls' room once again and you can only imagine what is going on in there. Katsuki probably has them cornered on one of the beds and they're about to turn the tides with the help of some stuffed animals. "Come on bud, let's go see if anyone is here yet."
Bonus:
"You got photos of this right?" Izuku sneaks up on you with two of his children climbing on his arm like a jungle gym.
"Of course I did." You wiggle your phone at him, "And I already made backups, and backups of the backups."
"Smart," Izuku shuffles on his feet and the two kids decide climbing on their dad isn't fun anymore and run off. "Would youâ"
"Don't worry, I already sent you a few."
"Thanks," Izuku looks around the crowd to spot his wife when you hear a loud yell.
"AUGH! You can't take me down so easily villains!"
You find the source: your husband, with his mini-me on his shoulders, and every Bakugou and Midoriya child, about eight in total, climbing on him trying to drag him down. The green wig slipping off his head and the child hanging off his neck; you raise your phone yet again.
*Click*
"Don't worry Izuku, I'll send that one too," you laugh before he can even open his mouth.

Fall Out || Fem!Reader [Izabella Bardot] x Damian Priest - Pt. 1
A/N: *snickers* all I had in brain was angst and with the ideas I got, it'll make perfect for this to be long and to have continuations. Expect another part or two in the next couple days after I get to requests. Have fun!
Word Count: 1,596
Summary: You've always been the one to cause issues, finding the solace in making your opponents and rivals second guess or become over-emotional. You tangle yourself into a rivalry with Rhea as your team feuded with the men of TJD, and in turn, always managing to find a way to get under their skin, especially Damian's. At least, you hoped you would... All (permanent) characters in Pt. 1: Izabella Bardot [Main character] Grayson Waller, Randy Orton, Kevin Owens, Rhea Ripley, Dominik Mysterio, Finn Balor, Damian Priest.
It was another Monday Night Raw, another night listening to my teammates talk and bicker in my locker room as I pull my boots up, tying them as I listened to them. I sit up a few moments later, leaning my elbows on my knees, looking up to the three of them.
For as much as they bickered, they worked well together, even with them being extremely hotheaded and easy to anger. With this little bickering session, Grayson stood between Randy and Kevin as they argued, always acting as their mediator.
This was apparently their way of figuring out how we wanted to deal with the Judgement Day. As if we weren't equipped with the tools to do so already. Leaning back in my chair, I cross my arms, just listening to Randy and Kevin's arguments.
As much they fought about little things like this, you'd think I'd honestly find them annoying. That'd be quite the opposite. I found it comical, always having a smile broken out on my face as I'd watch on. I made it a thing to step in if it went way too long, of course, just so they'd divert their attention back to the match - and actually not waste energy on yelling each others head off.
After a few good minutes of listening to them, and Grayson shooting me a pleading look for help, I finally speak up. "Hey. We're not here to continuously fight or bicker with each other." Kevin goes to open his mouth again, but I tilt my head slightly from where I sat. He stopped before even starting, a small snort leaving Randy, who also quieted after seeing the look on my face.
Grayson, once the two other men hushed, looked to me, his brows furrowing slightly. "Ya gonna be out there with us at ringside, right?" I roll my eyes slightly, even though his tone was one of worry. Standing up, I walk over, my shoulder leaning into Randy's arm a bit. His arm snakes around my shoulders, my eyes staying on Grayson.
"I always am, aren't I?"
I could see the nerves that had Grayson in a vice grip, as all four of us stood in the gorilla. He had never been the type to be so nervous, always noted as the other, mostly, level headed member of the group. Kevin must've seen and registered this too, his hand giving Grayson a reassuring clap on the shoulder, a half smile pulling at the corner of his lips.
Randy's frame seemingly towered over me as he stood behind me, wrapping wrist tape around his wrists and hands. His gaze, after what felt like a good few minutes of drilling into the back of my head, looks to Grayson. "You'll be good. We're gonna be out there with you." Always blunt and to the point, Randy was.
A faint smile crossed Grayson's face nonetheless with the reassurance from us. The smile slowly fades for a split second as Kevin's theme goes first, hearing the crowds almost deafening cheers as soon as it hit, and he came out. Following suite a few seconds later, Grayson goes out with his theme, meeting Kevin at the stage.
You'd expect it not to be such a loud pop whenever Randy's theme would play, but the crowd always proved you wrong. At that point, with my first step out to the gaze of the crowd, I threw my gimmick on, a wide, yet sly smile on my face as I walked out with Randy. His fingers were intertwined with mine, before letting them go after a few seconds as I walked out in front of him a couple steps, him following me.
It didn't take me long to look away from the crowd around us as we made our way to the ring, my gaze connecting with Damian for a split second, before sliding over to Rhea, who stood in ring with the three other members of Judgement Day. One would think she'd kill with the looks she doled out to others.
I lift my hand, waving with my fingers to her, and partially to Damian, Finn and Dominik's eyes fixated on the other three in my group. Damian's jaw was set, an almost permanent seeming scowl on his face, ever since we walked out.
His shoulders rolled back, ripping his eyes from me as Randy let me up the stairs first, Kevin following suite behind him, Grayson electing a different way up, pulling himself to stand up on the ringside.
A little laugh leaves my closed lips, ropes opened for me by Randy. Damian's eyes didn't dare look back at me again, my mission seemingly being effective up to this point in time. Getting under Rhea, Damian, Finn and Dominik's skin, had been a total success so far.
Perhaps my mission had been more than a total success. With the ref not looking, and with Randy and Kevin off the apron and on the ground after Dom and Finn attacked them as Damian went for his finisher to reach the matches end, I pulled Damian off Grayson, canceling the pin just as the ref went for the three count. A grin, and a laugh as a look of complete surprise and anger crossed his face. "What the fuck?" Was all that he let out, his voice an angered yell.
Rhea, just as she looked at the crowd, a smile on her face as she counted along, had missed me pulling Damian off. I wave, once again, my fingers at him, an innocent smile on my face. That had been wiped off my face quick, seeing him move quick as he slid out of the ring fully, fully deciding to chase me then.
A look of fear flashed in my eyes as I took the initiative to run, making sure to run towards where Randy and Kevin were.
As soon I passed Randy, who was already standing up, his body blocked Damian from passing him. "Touch her, and you're dead." When I heard this, I knew it was safe to stop and turn. I laugh lightly, a grin on my face once again.
"Oh, so sorry about that! I didn't mean to do that." My grin still on my face, as I watch Damian, scoffing, his gaze on me for a few seconds. With my eyes on him, I kneel to Kevin, who's sitting up now, on his way to standing. "Get Dom and Finn dealt with, you two."
Randy, looking to Kevin when he called his name, easily registered the look on Kevin's face, as Damian turned to get in the ring before getting counted out. Grayson, on the opposing side of the ring, watched, as he leaned against the middle rope, on one knee.
All it took was Damian to look at me one last time when he got into the ring, then seeing his team taken down from ringside, and Grayson capitalizing on the distraction, hitting Damian with the Rolling Thunder Stunner, and getting the one⌠two⌠three count!
Rhea, who was already screaming her head off at Damian, stared in complete shock, with her hands almost resting on her head, before she stuck her hands out at the ref. Grayson, rolling out of the ring, had a huge smile on his face. I ran up, Kevin and Randy following, all three of us smiling. Grayson's arm rested around my shoulders, one of my hands resting on his back, as we walked backwards, the crowd cheering loudly.
Back in my locker room, I packed my duffel bag, my face slack and not full of any emotion, except showing off how tired I had been. I was ready to go to the hotel room. Rest assured, I was due to see someone from TJD as soon as I walked out, all before Randy got back from his locker room.
Sure enough, with my luck, when I opened my locker room door, Rhea and Damian stood a few feet away from me, Damian's arms crossed over his chest, Rhea's hands in her pockets. "Finally coming out of her cave, hm?" Was all I was greeted with from Rhea first.
I snort, as I look the both of them over. "Upset about your match results? Didn't like the taste of your own medicine?" Damian's arms drop as he walks over, his 6 ft 5 in height towering over me like Randy. Yet there was a different feeling to him than Randy. Maybe it was the aura or vibe he gave off.
Damian's eyes trailed me up and down with an unhappy look, crossing my own arms as I leaned back slightly. "You are meddling with the wrong people, chica. If I were you, I'd call my guard dogs off before it becomes a huge regret of yours down the line." His voice was gruff, yet the look in his eyes didn't match up with how he sounded.
"Matter of fact... Next Monday. I'll bury you so far into the ground, perhaps they will back off." Rhea states as she steps up too, an unbelieving laugh leaving my closed lips as I looked at them with an incredulous glint to my eyes.
I didn't think much of it. I never really did. As long as they were boiling because of me... that was all that truly mattered to me in the first place. I watch them leave with one last look, before I go off to find Randy, Grayson and Kevin.
I never told them about the interaction between Rhea, Damian and I...

A/N | damn I think got a little carried away from the the actual football player au but I hope y'all still enjoy
Kirishima x black reader
Standing at six five, two hundred forty pounds, Kirishima is a brick wall of a man. And even though he can make the opposing teamâs defense look like child's play, heâs the nicest person most people will ever meet. And on top of being known on campus as one of his team's best players, heâs also known for being fine as hell.
He turns down at least four girls at every party he goes to, people would think that heâs a borderline saint. But what they donât know is that when he leaves those parties, he goes straight to yours.
With your glasses and book always in hand, people think you're the stereotypical nerd; awkward, geeky, and weird. But honestly, you're the opposite. With your slick ass mouth and resting bitch face, you were the life of the party when your friends forced you out of your cave you called a dorm.
No one could have guessed that you and him would even be in the same circle, much less in each other's pants. And no one would expect the mr. sunshine would be the only one who could shut your shit down.
Truthfully, he has everyone fooled. For some reason, people thought that he was the epitome of kindness. But the way he was beating your shit in from the back, you coulda been fooled.Â
You donât even remember how this happened, one minute you were saying something about how he was acting like a ho at the party yâall went to, and the next thing you knew you were head down, ass up on the bed.
âWhat was that baby? I couldnât hear you.â He said, gripping your hips as pounded into you. You didnât even really understand what he was saying, to fucked out to concentrate on anything but the pleasure heâs bringing you.
âM- mâsorry, I didnât m-mean it.â You whine, gripping the sheets. He hummed in return, and you knew that he wouldnât take that as an answer.
âNah babe, I donât wanna hear that. Tell me how I was acting like a slut talkin to all those girls at the party.â He fucked into you with fervor, making the headboard slam against the wall.
âWhy you f-fuckin me like this? It w-wasnât that serious, I said mâsorry.â You slurred, eyes rolling to the back of your skull.
âShhhhh, just take this dick like you wanted. Thatâs why you caught an attitude right?â He says, eyes glossing over.
He flipped you over to your back, pressing your knees to chest. âBest pussy I ever had, drivin me crazy.â He pushes himself back in, eliciting a high pitched moan from you.
Thrusting at a rough pace, he doesnât let up. You pull him closer to you, kissing him with a kind of primal desire only he can evoke from you.
âRight there eiji, feels so good!â You mumble, sucking hickeys on his shoulders and neck. He groans, burying his head into the crook of your neck as he thrusts a final more times, spilling into you.
You both stay like that, taking in what happened as you hold onto each other. âWhat the fuckâŚâ You whisper. You knew your man could fuck, but not like this.
âWhatâs wrong, did I hurt you?â He asks, pulling out with a hiss. âNo. no itâs nothing. Forget about it ei.â You say, shifting under him to get more comfortable. â Oh⌠ok. Goodnight, I love you.â He kisses your cheek, dozing off not a minute later.
Damn, you really gotta catch an attitude more often.
â
âDamn Kirishima, the fuck y/n do to you last?â, was the first thing Eijirou heard after he stepped out of the shower. âWhat do you mean?â He asks, walking to a mirror. He hears the chuckle of his other teammates as he turns to see his back.
Shit.
He sees a plethora of raised, angry red marks going all across his back. He didnât even feel them the other night, to focus on the bliss you gave him as he sunk into your cunt again and again. He sighs and smirks as he puts his shirt, a faux blush on his cheeks.
Heâs gotta to get you to do that again.

Draco is: a werewolf, living in a cabin in the woods, minding his own business, and never going to buy plaid because he's not that much of a fucking cliche (yet). He's also counting down the days until he sees Harry again.

Harry is a struggling writer. Namely, he is struggling with: writing his next book, dealing with his agent, finding a decent tea strainer, fielding his friend's concern over the aforementioned book, and figuring out who the cat loitering in his garden belongs to. Authorâs Note: This is the next fic in Cedricâs Adventures. First. Previous. Next
Tagged: @egrets-not-regrets @kit-williams @bleedingichorhearts @the-pure-angel @gallifreyianrosearkytiorsusan
Warnings: angst, 30k typical anti-religious sentiment, beating as punishment, unreliable narrator, ask me to tag if something bothers you!
Summary: Cedric asks captain Ashâval when morning prayers are.Â
"Captain Ash'val... I... I've got some questions, if you have the time, sir." Cedric asked, having managed to pluck up the courage to go to the usually warm and kind Salamander Scout Captain. While there were many things he deeply missed about the time period he had been sent to, most of those things - and people - were wholly outside of his grasp. But there were a small handful of things that Cedric was hopeful that he could have in this time period, that he'd had in the time that he had come from. He was very deliberately not fidgeting with his hands, standing at attention as he waited for the older marine to acknowledge his presence in the other's office.Â
The Salamander hummed, looking up from the machine that Cedric had been taught functioned similarly to a data-slate and gestured to one of the chairs on Cedric's side of the desk. "I've got time to talk with you, Cedric. Please, sit down. There's no need to be so formal, young one."
"If you say so, sir." Cedric responded, unable to keep direct eye contact with one of his superior officers, having been taught by both the Mechanicum and the Black Templars that doing so was both rude and a sign of defiance or challenge. He obediently sat in the chair Ash'val indicated that he sit in. He took in a deep breath, willing the anxiety welling in his hearts to not still his tongue as he asked "Where are the morning devotionals being held, sir? Or are they being held at a different time of the day, sir?â
".... The what?" The older marine asked, a frown appearing on his face.Â
"Morning prayers? Part of the morning meditation exercises that every marine is supposed to take in? Or at least, the beginning of shift prayers and meditation that each marine is supposed to complete when not in immediate life threatening danger, should he be overheard, sir?" Cedric clarified, genuinely confused by the other's reaction, and doing his best to explain himself. Not every marine had the same work schedule, after all.Â
"... Prayers to whom?" Ash'val asked, the frown on his face deepening, his voice shifting strangely.
"The... The God-Emperor of Mankind? The being on who's divine mandate we were all created to serve and protect humanity on?" Cedric answered, deeply confused by the other's question. Who else would Loyal Marines be worshiping? The Living Saints were more for mortals, though he supposed that some marines probably would send prayers to the nine holy Primarchs during their devotionals as well, depending on what they were doing for that day.Â
"You... You believe that the Emperor of Mankind is a god?" Ash'val inquired, his face having frozen in a carefully neutral expression, though there was tension in his voice that confused Cedric tremendously.
"Yes sir. I was first taught by the Mechanicum to worship him in his aspect as the Omnisiah, but that was corrected by my Black Templar older brothers, after I was sent to them, sir. He is the Lord Commander of the imperium, the shining golden light in the darkness, sir. Without His protection we - and the rest of humanity - would be lost. Killed or enslaved by Xenos and Chaos." Cedric answered earnestly, repeating what he's been told over and over again in his home time.Â
"... I see. This base does not have a morning devotional, nor would you find such things at four of the other bases in this city. The fifth is run by... Hmm. The fifth is a primarily Chaos base and their worship is of gods opposed to yours. I can tell that you genuinely believe in what you say, but I would suggest not speaking of the... The Emperor as a god in this base much. Most of us who live in this base are from a time before and during the Horus Heresy, and shortly after... And-" Ash'val paused, looking Cedric over carefully.
The young apothecary couldn't look at Ash'val directly. He could hear the recrimination and judgment in the older marine's voice. Guilt and confusion hit him harder than Tau ordinance and it took all of his self-control to resist the temptation to slowly ooze out of the chair and onto the floor. Cedric was keenly aware of how uncomfortable he'd made the Salamander, which hadn't been his intention at all. He... He'd just missed going to morning prayers with his Templar brothers. The sense of community, camaraderie and togetherness that the morning hymns and group meditation at the beginning of his shifts aboard the Sigismund, and in the mornings on whichever Monastery he ended up on occasionally had been wonderful. He'd hoped to participate in that again on ancient Terra. "I... I wouldn't want to make anyone uncomfortable, sir... and I didn't mean to make you uncomfortable, sir. I... I'll leave now." He got up to his feet and retreated from the room as fast as he could, the hurt and confusion making his hearts ache and his eyes sting with tears that he refused to let fall. He was keenly aware of the fact that he was likely to face more punishment for the questions that had clearly made the well-liked and well-respected Scout Captain uncomfortable, and he heard the other call his name, but Cedric desperately needed out of that room.
Cedric threw himself into the chores that he'd been assigned to do that morning, frantically scrubbing the floors of the main entrance hall, watering the plants growing in the internal open spaces of the base and completing the handful of minor repair requests that had come in during the night. The fact that he did that while hyper-aware of his surroundings and avoiding every older brother he possibly could - especially Ash'val, who's steps and hearts'-beats he could hear coming from far enough away with his enhanced hearing to (hide from) avoid in order to not upset further - was just a bonus of his primaris physique. He would report to one of the chaplains to pay for his sins later. For now he needed to calm down.
~
There was only so long that Cedric could evade all of the older brothers and cousins who lived in this base - especially as he couldn't bring himself to disobey the order to stay on base. There was also the terrible misfortune he suffered of being larger than most first-born marines, and there were only so many places he could be without an older marine finding him at some point. Cedric had also not been created and trained for stealth missions either. He had managed to evade them for several days with his concerted efforts, though he was careful to complete each and every one of the punishment chores he had been assigned to, not wanting to make things even worse for himself.Â
So the young Primaris marine wasn't terribly surprised when one of the chaplains who lived on base - a stern-faced Imperial Fist with steely blue eyes and greying hair - entered the room that Cedric was currently in. The young black templar was kneeling on the ground, scrubbing furiously at a stain on the stone floor with the scrubbing sponge that he'd grabbed after fleeing from captain Ash'val and beginning his punishment-chores for the day. He was acutely aware of the older marine as the other made his way across the anxiety-cleaned and meticulously cleaned floor. He'd stopped running when he'd known that Chaplain Feldarim was searching for him. While his older brothers likely thought otherwise, he wasn't stupid. He knew that running from a chaplain was a bad idea - and running from the highest ranking chaplain in the base was catastrophically worse. His breathing hitched a little, though he desperately tried to keep himself from visibly tensing or flinching at the older marine's approach. He continued to scrub on his knees, struggling to keep his breathing even and normal, hoping that the other wouldn't notice the way his fingers trembled around the sponge in his hand.
Chaplain Feldarim walked carefully across the room, coming to stand in front of Cedric, his ceramite boots within the younger marine's line of sight as Cedric continued to scrub and clean.Â
Every time Cedric finished a one foot segment of floor and shifted over to the next tile, Chaplain Feldarim would side-step to keep within the young apothecary's line of sight.Â
Cedric continued to scrub until each tile in this room was not only clean, but shined and polished to a mirror finish. His fingers ached faintly from the amount of strength he had used, and the hours it had taken to get this room's floor properly clean. He placed the sponge back in the bucket he'd periodically been dipping it into, to get more cleaning solution, letting it go. He sat back on his knees, placing his hands down on the floor in front of his knees, head still bowed. There was no way he was going to break the silence by speaking first and waited patiently, penitently.
Eventually chaplain Feldarim sighed. It was a heavy thing, filled with wordless condemnation.
Cedric fought the urge to curl in on himself, to hunch his shoulders to his ears. To cringe away from whatever just punishment he was about to receive from the chaplain, bracing for pain. Physical, emotional, or likely both. He did, to his eternal shame, close his eyes tightly and turn his head to one side, flinching a little as Feldarim began to speak.
"I've heard that you have some questions, lad. You brought them to Ash'val and then ran off. Considering what he told me those questions were, you'd have been better served going to one of the Chaplains, as you had questions about faith." Feldarim chided Cedric. His voice was surprisingly gentle, but Cedric suspected that the other was just getting started.
Cedric said nothing in response, unsure if he was allowed to, or if this was going to be a one-sided lecture. He erred on the side of caution and stayed silent on his knees, gaze firmly on the other's boots.Â
The Imperial Fist Chaplain sighed again, and an armored hand briefly entered Cedric's line of sight, the gauntlet the gold and black of the older Marine's chapter.
To Cedric's eternal shame, he flinched backward when one of Feldarim's armored hands touched his face and chin. Shame burned his cheeks and he forced himself to still, waiting for the expected for his outward show of hesitation and fear to follow.
The silence stretched, heavy and expectant uncomfortably before the Chaplain spoke again "... Were you expecting me to hurt you, Cedric?"
Fuck. He was clearly expected to answer. He swallowed around the lump in the back of his throat that threatened to choke him "I... I apologize for flinching, chaplain. I will do my best not to do so again." Because what else was he supposed to say? Of course the other was going to hurt him. Pain was a common enough punishment inflicted upon misbehaving aspirants and battle brothers alike. Among Black Templars, Chaplains were most often in charge of the administration and execution of punishments. Cedric found himself intensely grateful that none of his squad had come with him. As an Apothecary, depending on what he had done wrong and the situation he and his squad were in, he did not always receive the physical punishments he had earned. Instead one or more of his squad brothers would be punished in his stead, and he would be the one to patch them up, while apologizing to them for being the reason why they were bloodied and healing.
"That is an answer, but not to the question I asked of you, Cedric." Feldarim pointed out, irritation seeping into his voice. One of the older marine's armored hands was still holding onto his chin and he was desperately trying to keep his breathing even and steady.Â
He was trying to shove the shameful and un-Astartes-like emotions that were threatening to have him cry in front of a Chaplain about to administer punishment. It would only make what was about to come more agonizing. "It.. Is only be in service of making me a better marine, sir." He forced himself to say, hating the way that his treacherous body was starting to shake from the intensity of the fear and nervous anticipation running through him. As he had been taught before, during and after such punishments.Â
"I want you to look at me, Cedric. Look me in the eyes, as I tell you something. So you know that I mean what I say." Chaplain Feldarim ordered, the grip on his chin tightening a little. Enough to be noticeable, but not painful.
Not yet.
Cedric let out a shaky breath as he complied, forcing himself to look up into the older marine's face. His eyes darted up to look into the Chaplain's before they slid down to the other's nose - a little crooked, looking as though it'd gotten broken and healed slightly off of center at some point. Probably multiple times, given the bloody and dangerous work of a Space Marine. No matter how he tried, he couldn't keep his gaze focused on the older marine's eyes, though he desperately tried to obey the other's orders.
"I. Am not. Going to beat you. None of the Chaplains in this base are going to beat you. None of the chaplains on any of the bases on Ancient Terra should ever raise a hand to you like that in punishment, no matter if they're Loyalist, Chaos or Renegade. You should never have been beaten, much less beaten as often and harshly as to make you flinch automatically at the touch of an allied chaplain. Has anyone on Ancient Terra beaten you and called it a punishment?" Feldarim asked, his voice shaking with rage and concern.
His words made no sense, but his fury was at least familiar. While Cedric did his best to behave himself, he'd been on the wrong side of a chaplains' wrath more than a couple of times. Some of the first-born older brothers really resented the fact that Cedric and his younger brothers existed. Sure, they had been gifted to the Black Templars by The Imperial Regent to strengthen their fleet... But some of the older brothers were incredibly strict and harsh on them, finding fault in everything they did, and culling brothers who did not conform quickly enough. "No sir." He answered earnestly. No one had lifted a hand to him in punishment on Ancient Terra.Â
Some of the rage and worry left the chaplain, and he sighed again, eyes softening a little "There's that, at least. And stand up, lad. You've been on your knees for hours. Your knees are going to be complaining at you for a while for being on them for so long. Up you get, there's a good lad." The hand on his chin shifted down to one of Cedric's elbows as the older Marine helped him up to his feet.Â
Cedric silently stood up, reeling from both the bit of underserved praise he'd gotten, and the fact that the older marine believed that he shouldn't be beaten as part of his punishments. If that held true for Imperial Fists, how then did they keep discipline? Was that why he had been restricted to base and given chores to complete? Was... Was that the extent of his punishment for being "rude" to two allied chaos space marines?Â
Ancient Terra continued to confuse him on a soul-deep level.Â
"Follow me, lad. While you've been quite dutiful in doing your chores, I know that you haven't eaten anything since your conversation with captain Ash'val. Missing meals isn't good for anyone, and I'm going to make sure you eat, lad." Chaplain Feldarim ordered, still holding Cedric by the elbow as he guided the primaris marine to the cafeteria, voice gently chiding.
"Yes sir..." Cedric mumbled, ducking his head a little, feeling intensely foolish for how he'd reacted, as he obediently followed after the first born marine.

Author's notes: If I have done my job right in any capacity, this'll be a rough one to get through. However, I promise I have a oneshot planned that'll fix some of what just happened and if S3 doesn't fix the rest, I will do it then!
You helped Hunter with opening the car doors and as you all saw the awful freefall that lay below you, you knew it was going to take a lot to get out of this situation in one piece.
âThis⌠is not ideal.â Tech commented.
âAt least weâre not hanging under the car.â Wrecker offered.
âThis isnât much better.â You said before you ducked as a round of blaster fire headed in your direction.
âEcho, get this car moving.â Hunter instructed as the rest of you fired back.
âThe explosions mustâve knocked out the power to the rail line.â Echo theorised irritably.
You moved away from the edge of the doors back to the middle of the car. âWhat if I just take down their railcar? It wouldnât take long.â You suggested.
Tech shook his head. âI do not think that would be wise. There would be no guarantee that the resulting impact of you destroying that line would not affect the terminal that we need to get moving. And weâd still be stuck here whilst the Empire can easily send more reinforcements and-â
âOkay, fine do it your way.â You interrupted as you went back to focusing your fire on the Imperials.
âI can try to reboot the system, but I will need to plug directly into one of the terminals on the track.â Tech said.
Hunter addressed the rest of you, âYou four, give us cover, Tech up top with me.â
--
Tech and Hunter moved to the next level of the railcar and Hunter gave his brother a boost up to the roof so he could climb onto the track.
As Tech got underway, Hunter opened the other set of doors and opened fire, particularly on any soldiers that were aiming for Tech.
--
âI am plugged in. Stand by.â Tech said into his comm as he got to work.
--
You all were doing a decent enough job at holding them back. They had more numbers, but your squad was more skilled, so you were managing okay.
That feeling of things being under control did not last long as Hunter heard the familiar sounds of ships coming your way. âWeâve got three ships inbound.â
You muttered a series of expletives as you scanned the sky around you for them.
âWhere? I canât see them.â Omega asked fearfully.
âTech, we need power!â You urged into you comm as you could hear them drawing closer with each passing second.
You all took up positions to open fire on them, but it did very little. The ships got a round of shots away and you had to fight to stay balanced as the car shook with the impact.
Tech stared at his datapad and finally the screen turned green. He tapped his comm, âEcho, now!â
Upon Techâs word, Echo plugged back in, and the railcar finally came back online.
âTech, get your ass back here.â You hurried as you saw the ships getting ready to make another pass.
Tech unplugged and got himself across to the main track and started running but he could hear the ships getting nearer. Â
Hunter concentrated his fire on the oncoming ships. He was able to clip one in the wing and it collided into another which he thought would be enough.
It wasnât.
The third ship came speeding through and fired a series off shots that found their mark. You all stumbled inside the car as it violently shook and struggled against the onslaught of blaster fire.
The explosion flung Tech backwards, and he fell from the track onto the roof of the bottom half of the car. He tried to stand but the resulting shot had seen to it that the back of the railcar was tearing itself away from the track and as it titled backwards, he went with it. He managed to hook his grappling cable onto one of the grates, but he was stuck hanging over the abyss.
--
âCome on, Tech! Hurry!â Wrecker implored as he peered down the broken end of the railcar.
âI am climbing as fast as I can.â Tech replied with a grunt as he started to make his way up the cable, but the additional weight and well-placed rogue enemy blaster fire exacerbated the fragile state of the car and it lurched backwards, sending him further down the cable once more.
âTech!â Omega cried as she saw him fall whilst Wrecker debated the best way to get down the sloped hallway.
âWhy arenât we moving?â Hunter asked Echo as he took refuge from the blaster fire.
âThe carâs being ripped from the track.â Another harsh vibration sounded shook through it as he tried to get it moving.
âWrecker, get him on board.â Hunter pressed, desperation seeping into his voice, before he opened fire on the soldiers again.
Wrecker made to step down, but the car dipped significantly.
âDonât!â Tech yelled as he fell down even further. âAny shift in weight could send both of these cars over.â
You glanced behind you at Wrecker and Omega and made the call that the others could hold the troopers off. You needed to help Tech now. Channelling the Force, you focused on the point where the two hinges met but it was already fragile, and it would take a lot of energy and focus to keep them together since they were wanting to do anything but and the circumstances were hardly ideal to have that focus but you had to make it work. You could hear more ships coming but you ignored them, you didnât care.
âYou must sever the connection hinge. Now!â Tech instructed.
âNot until youâre up here.â Wrecker argued.
âTech, I can hold them, just climb or let Wrecker-â
âYou canât keep them steady and wait for me to get up there with the time we have left.â Tech interrupted you as he saw the ships in the distance closing in again.
âSheâs got it, Tech.â Wrecker said, doing his best to keep the distress out of his voice as he edged his way forward. As he did so, the cart swayed forward, and he glanced back at you.
âGo.â You said through gritted teeth as you focused on keeping both carts level, but each moment of blaster fire and Wreckerâs added weight were making it harder.
Tech fell a few more metres as the cart continued to pull itself away from the track. He looked around and he knew what he had to do. He needed you all to get away. He wasnât wrong about this. You all would make it out. He just needed to take himself out of the equation. âThere is no time.â He pulled out his blaster. âPlan 99.â
Your heart plummeted. Not that plan, any plan but that one.
Wreckerâs heart filled with dread.
Omega felt nothing but panic.
âTech, please-â You broke off as you channelled more of your energy into keeping both carts stable, but another round of shots meant the car swung again. Your knees buckled and your hold faltered slightly.
âDonât you do it, Tech.â Wrecker ordered as he tried to creep forward once more but the cart continued to protest against the strain.
Tech sighed before he accepted his next course of action. It was, in a way, a rather easy decision. Omega had once asked him if they were a family. His answer had been yes, and it was true. He just didnât think heâd really said it enough, but he loved his family. And what do families do? They protect each other⌠and thatâs exactly what he was going to do. âWhen have we ever followed orders?â With that, he fired a shot through the glass of the railcar that met its mark, and the connection hinge was severed.
Even if you could hold it, you were out of time. The ships would make their pass at any second and you couldnât prevent your section of the railcar reconnecting or else none of you would make it out of this.
And you hated it. You fucking hated it, but you were left with no choice; you dropped your hands, released your hold and watched in agony as Tech fell.
âNo!â Wrecker cried out as he helplessly watched his brother fade from view and there was nothing he could do nothing to stop it.
âTech!â Omega yelled.
The railcar reconnected to the track and sped away from the troopers on the opposite side.
Hunter grabbed Omegaâs wrist as she moved closer to the open end of the car. âOmega-â
âGo back! Go back!â She said desperately, reaching out as if she could still grab him.
You felt numb. You couldnât move. Every other noise around you sounded fuzzy. The skulking darkness that had been circling you since Saw Gerrera showed up was asking for a way in. It took every fibre of control to not let it. Hunterâs voice dragged you back to the current moment.
âThe carâs going too fast.â Hunter said urgently.
âThe systemâs fried. I canât stop it.â Echo replied, desperately trying to plug back in to do something to stop the rapid descent as the back wall of the station grew dangerously close.
You knew your help wouldnât be fast enough either, and you felt Hunterâs internal conflict as his helmeted gaze darted between you and Omega. Itâs Omega first, every time.
Hunter lunged for her just as the cart collided and smashed through the wall of the terminal.
--
Everything was grey, and dull and bleak.
If it wasnât for the bitter scent of smoke in the air, she wouldnât have been sure that sheâd even opened her eyes at first.
Debris from the wreckage surrounded her.
And she ached. Her entire body burned with the pain it took to stand.
Tech. She needed to find Tech. He couldnât be far. She called his name but only managed a few paces before she collapsed once more.
She tried to fight it, but it hurt too much, and the encroaching darkness was too tempting.
As the pain overwhelmed her, she didnât have the strength to turn it away.
--
You groaned as you came to and immediately felt woozy as you attempted to sit up. Your hood had already come loose from the collision, but you pushed your mask down to catch your breath and breathe through the soreness radiating through your body.
You brushed the dirt off your face but felt something wet leaving a trail down your cheek. You took off your glove and touched it to find your fingertips covered in blood. You carefully followed the path of blood to the source and winced as you touched the oozing deep cut by your temple. Fighting the dizziness, you looked around to see the others pushing themselves up but then your eyes caught sight of an unmoving figure and your blood ran cold.
You forced yourself to stand, ignoring the shooting pain that coursed through your ankle, and staggered over to Omega. You dropped to your knees next to her and felt for a pulse, which thankfully you found but it was weak. âOmega, come on honey, open your eyes for me.â You begged her as her body shivered beneath your touch. You felt the others come by your side. You hung your head in relief when you saw her eyes flicker open, but she couldnât stay awake, and you knew she was in bad shape.
âWe have to get her out of here.â Hunter said, doing his best to not let the panic he felt upon seeing her like this come through.
Wrecker picked her up. âI got you, kid.â
âIncoming! Get to the Marauder!â Echo shouted as Imperial reinforcements arrived.
You picked up Omegaâs bow and provided Wrecker and Omega cover fire as you all retreated back to your ship.
--
âHead to Ord Mantell. AZ can help her. Hurry!â Hunter instructed Echo as he made his way to the cockpit.
You watched Wrecker gently place her down on your bunk whilst Echo got the ship in the air and into hyperspace.
âYouâre bleeding.â Hunter stated, worry etched in his voice as he brushed some of your hair back and caught sight of the mix of fresh and dried blood on your skin.
âIâm fine.â You said groggily as the fading adrenaline meant you had to work harder to fight against the light-headedness you were experiencing. You then noticed the awkward way he clutched his forearm and at the fact standing up straight appeared to cause him some issues. âAre you okay?â
Hunter didnât answer directly. âAre any of us?â
You glanced around you and felt the anguish in everybody that you knew also resided in your own heart. âNo, no weâre not.â
You focused on watching Omegaâs chest rise and fall as a way to keep you grounded and willed the journey to go quickly.
--
âCid, AZ, we need your help!â You shouted as you limped into the parlour.
Cid took in all of your various injured states and nodded, too taken aback to offer anything else.
AZ dropped the cleaning supplies he was using and flew over to Wrecker. âFollow me.â He led the way to Cidâs room.
âIt is best if you leave, and I can work on her without distraction.â AZ instructed.
Neither of them really wanted to, but they didnât want their presence to be a problem, so they did as he said.
âWhereâs Goggles?â Cid asked as Hunter and Wrecker came back into the main parlour.
And it was that question that snapped you all out of what ever fatigued state of denial you were in.
You half collapsed into one of the booths and blinked back the angry, grief-stricken tears that threatened to escape.
Wrecker released a shaky breath and just shook his head as he sat down on one of the bar stools.
And Echo- now that he knew Omega was getting the medical attention she needed- just left the room. For the first time in his life, he needed the solitude.
âWe- we lost him.â Hunter just about managed to say as the loss overwhelmed him and he sat down next to you. He welcomed the loving hold you took of his hand as you rested it in your lap and rubbed circles on the back of it and was grateful for tender way you pulled his head to rest on your shoulder. He ignored the slight discomfort the position caused him.
âIâll give you guys some time alone.â Cid said quietly as she made her way towards the exit.
You all were in too much pain and too emotionally exhausted to notice the comm she took with her.
--
Youâd lost track of how long youâd all spent waiting for AZ to come back with news so when he finally entered the room, the room was ripe with nervous tension. She had to be okay. She just had to be.
âAZ?â You said uneasily.
âOmegaâs injuries were severe, but I have stabilised her and she should recover. It is just a matter of time of waiting for her to wake up.â
You all let out a collective breath of relief.
âThank you.â Hunter said gratefully.
AZ nodded. âNow, what injuries of yours can I assist with?â
â(Y/N) has an actively bleeding head injury and a wounded ankle and Wreckerâs neck is causing him problems. Leave me for last.â Hunter said.
You knew disputing the order wouldnât be helpful to anyone right now, so you let AZ come over to you first.
--
After you all were taken care of, AZ went back to monitor Omega and give you guys some space.
âWhat are we going to do now?â Wrecker asked as AZ left.
Hunter sighed deeply. âWe have nothing to go on. No location, no leads. Nothing. And with Tech-â He broke off with a cough before continuing, âWith Tech gone and Omega being hurt like thatâŚâ He paused for a moment as he considered his next words, âI canât put her through something like this again. I canât put any of you through it again. Weâre done. Weâll find somewhere to settle.â
âWhat about Pabu?â Wrecker offered quietly. âShe likes it, and we were going to settle there anyway⌠right?â
Hunter looked to you and you nodded. âHe gave us another chance. We should take it any way we can.â You said, clearing your throat as the pain of the loss threatened to overcome you.
âAlright.â Hunter said before he got to his feet. âIâm going to go wait until Omega wakes up.â He left the room.
âWrecker, will you be okay for a moment?â You asked as you also stood.
Wrecker understood. âGo.â
You bowed your head in thanks and followed Hunter.
--
You paused by the doorway and studied the way he sat in the chair as he watched over Omega. His posture was tense, and his leg bounced anxiously. You knew he was barely keeping it together, but he was making himself because he was still the leader and had to be. But you wanted to give him a chance to let himself drop the appearance, if only for a moment.
âYou donât have to be strong right now. Not in front of me.â You walked around to the front of the seat and kneeled in front of him. You placed your hand on his cheek to turn his face towards you as he was keeping his eyes firmly on Omega. At your words, it looked like a weight just left his body and he let his head and shoulders hang lowly.
âThat plan was never supposed to be used.â He uttered, his throat bobbing as the mask of composure started to drop.
Your heart ached as you felt the guilt and sorrow within him. You reached up and placed your arms around his neck and just held him close to you. Iâm so sorry.
âI only got two of them.â Hunter mumbled into the crook of your neck as he met your embrace.
âHmm?â
âThe ships. There were three and I only got two of them. If I had just made sure, he wouldnât have fallen from the track. The third got the shot away that killed him.â
You pulled away as you picked up on the way the typical rasp in his voice got lower and more uneven. You cupped his face in your hands and rubbed away the stray tears. âHunter, you canât do that to yourself.â
âI was supposed to look after us. By taking that mission, I put everyone in danger and look what happened.â
âYou went because you knew it was the right thing to do. It gave us a last chance to get Crosshair back. What happened-â You took a second to draw a calming breath of your own. âWhat happened was cruel and unfair, but it wasnât your fault. I know that guilt may never truly fade, Iâve been there, but you still have the rest of us. You still have me. Whenever you need a reminder that this was not your doing, I will be there, I promise.â
Hunter couldnât help but search for any doubt or lies in your eyes and voice but found none. He pressed his lips into your palm and the sincerity and love in your tone served to remind him that he could do this. âWeâve lost two brothers.â
You brought your forehead to press against his and whispered understandingly, âI know.â
âI canât lose anyone else.â He breathed against your lips, but he could feel himself starting to regain the composure he knew he was going to need for what was to come. Â
You placed a delicate kiss to his mouth. âYou wonât.â You caressed your thumb along his cheek before you stood behind him with your hands on his shoulders as you both waited for Omega to come back around.
--
âHunter? (Y/N)?â Omega winced with a groan as her eyes opened once more and saw you both standing by her bedside, the worry on your faces now becoming relief.
âHiya, kid.â Hunter said warmly as he brushed some of her hair back and reached for her hand.
She let Hunter support her back as she tried to sit up and took in the various bandages that graced both of you and her own fading pain prompted the reminder that the mission had gone very wrong. âWhat happened?â
Before either of you could reply, AZ whirred into the room and Hunter delicately laid her back down.
âHello, Omega. I am relieved you are awake.â He scanned her. âYou each sustained multiple injuries. However, you all will make a full recovery with proper treatment and rest.â
His reassurance helped calm the anxiety you were feeling over her injuries. You tenderly hugged her as Hunter assisted in getting her upright.
âYouâre- Youâre okay.â Wrecker said with relief as he came into the room. He crouched in front of her. âDonât scare us like that again.â He put an arm around her in a fond embrace.
You passed her some water. âHow do you feel?â
Omega took it from you but didnât drink it. âI donât know. The last thing I remember, we were in the railcar whenâŚâ She released a horrified gasp as the images came flooding back. âWhereâs Tech?â
âOmega, Tech didnât make it.â Hunter said, his voiced laced with sadness at having to tell her this again. Part of him had hoped sheâd remember so she wouldnât have to go re-experience the hurt of the loss.
âWe have to go back! What if heâs hurt? He- He need us. Tell him, Wrecker. We canât just leave him!â But Wrecker only looked back at her with nothing but sorrow on his face.
âOmegaâŚâ Your voice cracked slightly as you attempted to rest a comforting hand on her shoulder.
Omega hit your hand away. âNo! Techâs not gone! He- He canât be!â Tears fell down her face.
Her reaction nearly broke you all over again.
âI- I know, kid.â Hunter said quietly as he moved to sit beside her and wrapped an arm around her shoulder.
Reliving it all got too much for Wrecker. He wiped his eyes and backed out of the room.
You glanced over your shoulder as Wrecker left and you knew Hunter needed to talk to Omega about what the rest of you had discussed. âIâll give you two a minute.â You said, your voice still thick with emotion.
--
âWhy did Tech do that?â Omega said tearfully after you and Wrecker had left. She wiped her eyes. âHe didnât let us save him.â
âHe knew we were out of time.â Hunter explained as simply as he could. âTech put the squad ahead of himself. He made a sacrifice, Omega, and weâre not gonna waste it.â
âWhat does that mean?â
âThe galaxy has changed, and so have we. Itâs time to put being soldiers behind us for good. The three of us think Pabu could be a good place to make a new life for ourselves. And the rest of it, well, we can figure out along the way. Omega, is that something you want?â
She thought it through for a moment before she nodded.
âThen thatâs what weâll do.â Hunter said. This would work. You all could heal together and make it out okay. It would get better.
--
You pulled yourself onto the bar stool next to the one Wrecker was sitting on. âWhat can I do?â You asked caringly. You knew there was nothing you could say that would immediately ease the pain of grief, but if there was anything you could do to help, you would.
âJust being here is fine.â Wrecker mumbled roughly as he kept his emotions at bay.
You rested your hand on top of his- an act he gently mirrored with his own before he removed his hand. You know I love you, right? It was a sentiment you realised you had not shared enough with the others and you didnât want that to continue anymore.
Wrecker breathed deeply. âI love you too⌠and itâs not just because youâre with Hunter. You became a part of this family long before that.â
The genuine and heartfelt way he said that touched you deeply. You swallowed the lump that formed in your throat. âItâs a pretty good family to have.â
âTech wouldâve been able to tell you the exact date, Iâm sure he kept a record of it.â Wrecker said with a sad chuckle.
You managed a half smile at his words. âThat would be in character for him.â
A natural quiet descended on the two of you.
âDid we miss something? Did we miss a way to save him?â Wrecker asked into the silence.
The question was one you had been torturing yourself with ever since the ship had left Eriadu. âWhat we needed was time, and- and Tech knew we were out of it by that point.â
âYeah.â Wrecker released a dejected sigh. âHe always was the smart one.â
--
âHere. These are on the house.â Cid gifted you both a drink.
âIt wonât help.â Wrecker said as he nudged it out the way.
You did the same.
âIâm sorry about Goggles. I always liked him.â Cid said sympathetically.
âYeah. Us too.â Wrecker said with a crestfallen sigh.
Despite her words, you, and Wrecker both noticed the way she kept avoiding eye contact with both of you.
âWhatâs with you?â Wrecker asked.
Cid gulped, âYou know, I tried to look out for you guys. But you got too much heat on you. And you brought it here to my place of business. I had to make the best of a bad situation.â
You picked up on her awkwardness and agitation. âCid, what did you do?â You asked as a hollow pit of dread sat heavy in your stomach.
âIâm sorry.â That was all she said before she looked to the door.
You and Wrecker followed her stare, and a squadron of Imperial troopers came marching through the door with their blasters drawn.
You both instinctively reached for your blasters, but both of yours had been lost in the crash.
Wrecker was unaffected by the first stun blast that contacted him, and he charged at the group, but his neck brace severely limited his mobility.
You dodged the stun shot that was sent your way and realised keeping up a pretence would be pointless now. You threw your vibroblade into the shoulder of the closest threat to you before you Force-pushed multiple troopers against the back wall and used your ally to snap the wrists of others that aimed for you.
âStop!â
You turned in the direction of the voice to see Wrecker half-conscious, kneeling on the floor with his wrists bound and a trooper holding a blaster to his head whilst the squad regrouped and pointed their weapons at you.
Your jaw tightened but you did as he ordered and let them take you. A kick to the backs of your knees brought you down. They took your comm off you and, judging by the way the cuffs he put on you were slightly different to Wreckerâs, theyâd come prepared. You werenât going to have an easy way out.
âShe was right, Sir. This is the Jedi.â One of the troopers that was holding you down by the top of your shoulder said to Doctor Hemlock as he came through the crowd to stand at the front.
You glanced up at the man you now recognised as Doctor Hemlock who was staring down at you.
âWonderful.â
--
Heâd acted quickly when he knew the Empire was here and heâd kept Omega safe. Thatâs what mattered first. She was in the mining tunnels and on her way to Echo. The Empire wouldnât find her. He could now focus on getting you and Wrecker back.
Hunter rounded the corner to the main parlour with his blaster drawn but his heart stopped at the sight. Both you and Wrecker were cuffed and being held at gunpoint by Imperials and Hemlock was right in the middle. He advanced forward a few paces, but the troopers focused their blasters on him.
âThatâs not very strategic, Hunter.â Hemlock cautioned. âYou donât need to use your enhanced senses to know youâre outnumbered.â He turned his attention to the owner of the parlour. âThe Empire thanks you for your assistance. Our business is done. Leave.â
âYou piece of shit.â You hissed as you fought against the grip the troopers had on you as you watched her take the case of credits and walk out the door.
âPlease consider your next move very carefully. I would hate for this to end poorly for all of you.â Hemlock advised. He paused and studied your handiwork on the wounded that were now being evacuated from the building. âSuch an exquisite creature.â He brushed the fingers of his ungloved hand across your cheek. âYou chose well.â He complimented the Sergeant.
You recoiled from his touch.
âDonât fucking touch her.â Hunter snarled.
Hemlock ignored the clone for now and kept his attention on you. He lifted your cuffs by the middle. âHow can someone so powerful be limited so easily?â He dropped your wrists. âPlease. Do me the honour of just trying to use it.â
You stared him down in refusal.
âOr both of them will be killed.â Hemlock said simply.
You gritted your teeth and hoped the message behind your eyes as you looked to Hunter was clear- he had to keep it together.
Hunter didnât understand what was about to happen. You were telling him to stay calm and remain where he was, but he didnât fully know why. What was Hemlock talking about?
You braced yourself as you did as Hemlock said. You were met with the expected electric current that shot through your system. You didnât cry out despite the pain; you didnât want to give him the satisfaction, but you couldnât help but fall forward on all fours. You had to take a few deep breaths before kneeling upright once more. The binds themselves had also grown tighter.
âIncredible.â Hemlock mused. âYears spent studying your people and the Force and we have barely scratched the surface of understanding you, yet science still finds ways to prove itself. Go again.â
âNo!â Hunter protested. Watching you do that once was bad enough and you were hiding it well, but he knew you were in pain, and he couldnât let it continue. Instinct took over and he moved a half step closer to you, but the line of blasters stopped him from advancing.
âHow touching.â Hemlock mocked, internally thrilled that the reaction from both of you had been as he predicted. It made the process far more enjoyable. âBut if you value your fellow cloneâs life, you will not stop this.â
âI can- I can handle it.â You said breathlessly as a way reassure Hunter and stop him from doing anything reckless- you knew this torture was as much for him as it was for you, and you needed him alive. But you couldnât prevent the pained grunt that left your mouth this time and you fell forward once more, and the cuffs pinched the skin of your wrists.
âAgain.â Hemlock ordered you.
âDonât.â Hunter pleaded, but he wasnât talking to Hemlock, he was looking at you. This wasnât something you should have to handle. There had to be another way. He should be the one to take that pain.
Whatever it required to keep them both alive. âItâs okay.â You said, your voice hoarse. You did it again and an audible cry fell from your lips.
Hemlock waited until you sat up. âAgain.â He demanded.
You inhaled with a wince and did as he said.
The cycle continued until Hemlock said otherwise.
--
Hunter wanted to stop it. Despite your words, his resolve was weakening by the second. The only thing stopping him from doing something was that Wreckerâs life was also involved here but he couldnât stand that all he could do was watch you go through this torment over and over again.
Wrecker struggled against his captors as he watched, but they were too many securing him.
âStop.â Hunter finally growled at Hemlock after this last round saw to it that you were barely able to right yourself. He saw your arms give out from beneath you with the effort it took to remove yourself from the ground. And from the way you were trying to flex them, he guessed you were losing feeling in your fingers.
Hemlock smirked, âI am merely giving her a preview of whatâs to come. I need to know what itâll take to crush someone like her.â
He kneeled beside your crumpled body and spoke into your ear. âI will look forward to breaking you.â He kept eye-contact Hunter.
Hunter was clenching his jaw so hard that his teeth hurt. The thought sickened him.
You believed him. That quiet, menacing tone in his voice told you he truly meant what he was saying and⌠and that brought out a level of fear youâd never felt before. But you wouldnât let that happen yet. Your arms trembled as you braced your palms against the floor and you panted through the throbbing discomfort in your body, but you managed to get back to a kneeling position. In a way, you were also grateful for the harsh but secure hold the troopers resumed since it meant you werenât required to keep yourself stable.
âSuch resolve.â Hemlock whispered to you. âAnd now onto the other matter at hand.â He said breezily as he stood upright once more and addressed Hunter. âHereâs how this is going to go. You will lower your blaster and hand over Omega. And I will allow you to keep breathing.â
âOmegaâs not going anywhere with you.â
The fierce protectiveness of the clone brought out a soft snicker from Hemlock. âOh. Well, who knew clones are so paternal? Fascinating.â
To hear that observation come from that man had bile rising in your throat.
âI was saddened to learn of your friendâs demise. What was his name? Oh, yes. Tech.â Hemlock taunted cruelly.
âDonât fucking say his name.â You spat as you strained against your captors. An act Wrecker joined you on.
Hemlock merely reached his hand out to one of the soldiers and took the object. âIâm afraid this was all I could salvage. Consider it a gift.â He tossed the broken goggles across the room to Hunterâs feet.
Your strength was returning and at Hemlockâs actions, you attempted to lunge for him, but the troopers acted quickly and, with a strong grip on your shoulders, they forced you back to your knees.
Hemlock was unphased and stepped forward a few paces. âTo lose one of your own, it must weigh heavily on you as their leader.â He signalled back to his men who pressed their blasters against the back of yours and Wreckers heads. âAnd if you donât lower the blaster now, you will lose more.â
Hunter looked past Hemlock and you and Wrecker.
Wrecker did the best he could do to shake his head.
âHunter, n-â The sharp tap of a blaster interrupted you.
He wasnât losing any anyone else. And with Omega gone, the rest of you could find a way out.
You helplessly watched as Hunter put the blaster down and delicately picked up and studied Techâs goggles.
âWise decision.â Hemlock praised before he waved his men forward.
Hunter let them pass and allowed himself to be cuffed and brought over to join the two of you.
You and Wrecker were pulled to your feet, and you attempted to wriggle out of their grip, but they wouldnât give.
âSir, the girlâs not in the office.â The troopers informed Hemlock as they came back out.
You and Wrecker glanced at Hunter who subtly nodded at the two of you.
You and Wrecker shared a small breath of relief. As long as she was safe, you could manage whatever came next.
âSheâs long gone. Like I said, Omegaâs not going anywhere with you.â Hunter said to Hemlock.
Hemlock merely hummed. âWeâll see.â
The three of you were escorted out but what you couldnât work out was why you were still being physically restrained whilst the other two got to walk normally.
--
Ord Mantell was in chaos.
People were screaming and clamouring to get out of the way of the Imperial soldiers and AT-AT walkers that were making their presence known.
A series of warning blaster fire halted you all from continuing. You turned in the direction of the fire and your stomach dropped as you saw who was on an upper platform staring down at the rest of you. No, she wasnât supposed to be here.
âLower your weapons.â Hemlock instructed his soldiers before he called over to the young girl, âHello, Omega. We were just talking about you.â
Omega kept her bow activated. âLet them go!â
âOmega, run!â Hunter shouted before he got held back by one of the troopers.
âI wonât let them take you.â
âHow about an exchange? If you come with me, your friends will live.â Hemlock negotiated.
âYou fucking bastard.â You seethed as you pulled against the hands that were holding the upper part of your arms.
âI donât believe you.â Omega replied suspiciously.
âI did not come here for them, Omega. I came to return you to Nala Se. She needs your help.â
âHeâs lying. They killed the Kaminoans.â Hunter countered.
âIncorrect. Nala Se is alive and well care for.â Hemlock retorted before he returned his attention to the girl. âAs you will be.â
âIâm not going with you.â Omega affirmed but she didnât sense the clone trooper behind her.
âOmega, look out!â You shouted but it was too late.
All of you watched with devastation as Omega met the receiving end of a stun shot and her limp body got picked up by the trooper.
âScour the city. When you find the third clone, send them back to Eriadu. Governor Tarkin wishes to question you personally.â Hemlock walked over to you. âBut youâŚâ He smiled coldly at you. âYour use lies elsewhere.â
Your heart shattered as you realised what that meant.
Hunterâs head turned sharply to look from Hemlock to you and the pained panic on your face mirrored his own. He reacted instantly and ran for you, but he didnât make it far before the troopers separating the two of you got in the way and shoved him back. He continued to try and fight his way through, but the cuffs limited his effectiveness and a strong punch to his stomach winded him and he hunched over in discomfort. He took a few deep breaths and wriggled free of the two soldiers that had come to bring him back in and tried again but this time he was met with a kick to his already wounded torso.
You were shouting unintelligible sounds of protest as you writhed and struggled against the strong hands holding you back and attempting to drag you away. You managed to stamp on the foot on one of your captors and elbow one of the others in the stomach and their grip faltered.
But they regrouped quickly.
A swift hit of a blaster on your still wounded head had you blinking away black dots. You could do nothing to stop the severe grip one trooper took on the back of your neck, forcing you to hunch over whilst the others grabbed your arms and got ready to take you away.
âLet them.â Hemlock held a hand up to stop the actions of his soldiers. It would only help with his process. Let the two of you have the chance at a last moment together dictated by him and stopped by him. The emotional turmoil it would create would play beautifully.
Still half-dazed, when the troopers let you go, you were left with no choice but to fall to the ground.
Hunter shoved past the line of soldiers and knelt before you. As gently as he could manage, he placed his hands under your chin to push your head up. âI love you.â Hunter choked out.
Hemlock signalled his men.
You wanted to say so much more but you didnât have the time. âI love you too.â You replied, your voice cracking. Your lips met for the briefest of moments but that was all you managed before you got hauled to your feet and they yanked you away from him.
As he watched your fading figure, Hunter didnât have the strength to fight the troopers that lifted him to his feet and led him and Wrecker in the opposite direction.
--
The only thing that was keeping you from giving into the pounding agony that was bouncing around your skull was that Omega was now being carried alongside you. You would hang on for her.
âWhat are we doing?â One of the remaining troopers asked as he saw the group split off.
âDoctor Hemlock wants her getting a separate shuttle in case the others get away and come looking for them.â The clone in charge of the group answered.
âPlease.â You begged with a broken breath as you saw the group separate and Hemlock disappeared down the street with Omega. âJust let me go with her. I wonât-â The butt of a blaster meeting your cheekbone shut you up and you groaned with the stinging pain it left you. Your vision kept blurring in and out of focus.
âQuiet! Keep walking!â The trooper ordered you.
You had so little resolve left. Hopelessness had overwhelmed you, so you followed their orders, your feet dragging as they led you in the direction of wherever the other shuttle was. Â
--
Hunter could feel the fight leaving him as he and Wrecker were escorted to the shuttle that would take them to Eriadu. So much of what he cared about had been ripped from him and now the remaining people in his life that he loved would pay the price for his failure. The echoes of explosions and blaster fire grabbed his attention, and he looked up to see a walker come stomping round the corner but itâs aim was directed towards the Imperials.
âEcho?â Wrecker asked.
âGotta be Echo.â Hunter agreed as he dug deep for the energy to fight back.
Wrecker broke his cuffs open on the top of his knee and Hunter landed a kick to the trooper behind him to give Wrecker time to undo his cuffs.
The two of them worked on taking care of the remaining troopers and stole their blasters and fired on the clones that were aiming for Echoâs walker. What they couldnât stop however, was the next walker that rounded the corner that fired on Echoâs.
Echo went to the hatch and jumped out of the walker just as it collapsed to the ground.
âWhere are the other two?â Echo asked as he emerged from the downed walker with AZ and took cover with his brothers.
âThat Imperial took them.â Wrecker answered.
âIt was Hemlock. Weâve got to stop his ship from leaving.â Hunter said.
The three of them scanned for ways out but reinforcements were arriving from both sides. It was then though that Hunter noticed a platform that ran above the landing pad where Hemlockâs shuttle must be and the group of them made their way up to it, avoiding enemy fire as they did so.
--
Hunter ran ahead to the edge of the platform and could only watch with despair and agony as Hemlockâs shuttle took off. He paid no attention to the surrounding sounds of blaster fire; he couldnât turn his gaze away from the departing ship.
Half his life was on that ship.
Hell, his heart was on that ship.
And he couldnât stop it.
He couldnât stop any of it.
And it broke something in him.
It killed him.
Echoâs voice dragged him back.
âHunter, we have to go!â
Hunter managed to find his voice. âGet to the Marauder!â He ordered and the three of them started to run once more.
--
They made it to their ship and managed to take off but there was no relief in the feeling. The air was thick with grief and loss.
âThere was no way to track Hemlockâs ship. He couldâve taken them anywhere.â Echo said forlornly from the cockpit.
Hunter glanced back to where Omegaâs room was, then he saw Wrecker cradling Techâs goggles. Then he found himself fiddling with the cord around his neck and his fingertips grazed the small symbol attached to it. Heâd failed so many people. Everything heâd promised both to himself and to his squad had fallen apart so quickly before his eyes and he couldnât do anything to stop it. Well, no more. He refused to let this be how things ended. âWe are going to get them back.â He said darkly. âAnd we donât stop searching until we do.â
--
The shuttle you were being taken to was on the other side of the city, but you had finally arrived.
The ramp lowered and you didnât resist them as they nudged you towards it.
You walked a couple paces but then you spotted the smoke bomb thrown at your feet.
Fog engulfed you.
You were set free but all you registered were the panicked shouts and shots from blasters around you.
The Imperials didnât last long, in rapid succession you heard the thud of each body that had brought you here.
Then everything went quiet.
A hand from behind grabbed your shoulder.
You reacted quickly and swerved out of the grip and whipped around to land a punch wherever you could reach. You heard the satisfying thump of your fists meeting bone and the figure backed away a few paces.
You readied yourself for the next attack, but it didnât come.
âThatâs a hell of a punch youâve got. Would hate to see what youâre like when you donât have cuffs on you.â
You recognised that voice and you pushed the faintness away and peered through the smoke at the figure approaching you, sniper rifle on her shoulder as she massaged her jaw. You relaxed your stance. âLyra?â
âHey, stranger.â She greeted you as she began picking the locks of your cuffs.
âWhat are you doing here?â You massaged your wrists as your binds came loose and you felt the Force start to flow through you again, but it felt⌠tainted. You searched in the Force around you for any sign of them, but there was nothing there. You really wished that meant theyâd found a way out and escaped safely but everything felt disconnected. You werenât yourself; something had shifted, and you werenât sure if you would be able to right yourself anymore.
âRescuing you, kinda thought that much was obvious. Where are the others?â
You felt your throat tighten as you searched for the words, but you couldnât find them, and your stomach turned with both the aching in your head and your heart. You braced your hands on your knees and threw up.
The smoke had cleared, and Lyra was able to take you in properly. Your ankle was strapped, the skin on your cheek had broken and a purple bruise was starting to take shape and the stitches by your temple were starting to tear open as specks of blood escape the wound. It also wasnât just your obvious injuries she saw- your body looked heavy with defeat. âWhat do you need?â She asked kindly.
âI need a ship.â You rasped as you wiped your mouth and stood up.
âYou have one.â Lyra pointed to the shuttle right next to you.
âNo. I wouldnât get out of the system in that. Theyâd find me immediately.â You reached down and took a blaster from one of the unconscious bodies.
âSo, you need something off the grid that would not pass any standardised mechanical check?â
âAdd in an already scrambled signature and yeah pretty much.â You inhaled deeply as another wave of nausea hit you.
âI know someone who owes me a favour and makes a living from selling ships like that. Canât promise weâll get very far but it could work.â She paused as she saw the way you still swayed on your feet. âAre you sure youâre up for that? I can go myself and meet-â
âIâm not getting separated from anyone else.â You said sharply before you straightened your shoulders. âLead the way.â
--
You waited as Lyra squared up deal and studied your way out of here. The ship did look like a hunk of scrap metal, but it would get you out unnoticed and thatâs all that mattered.
âOkay, letâs go.â Lyra said as she came over to you.
You sighed, âLyra, thank you. For all of this. But you canât come with me.â
Lyra placed her hands on hips in defiance. âI have nothing here, they wrecked my stall and raided the other stores. Iâm going with you. At the very least, you need someone to treat that serious concussion properly.â
Dealing with your injuries were way down on your priority list. You could feel it creeping in again and you werenât sure you had the strength to oppose it anymore. âWhat I am⌠what Iâm going to do, you shouldnât be around for. I canât-â
âCanât be worse than what Iâve seen already. Come on, we gotta get going.â She said with finality as she walked past you and up the ramp to the ship.
On her head be it. You thought to yourself as you followed her up and she got the ship in the air.
--
Omega walked out the Imperial shuttle with a deep sense of unease. She recognised Mount Tantiss and the presence of Nala Se troubled her. She feared for what this doctor had planned for her.
âHave Emerie see to her injuries.â Hemlock ordered the assistant that came to greet them.
Omega didnât follow the woman, she just looked to Nala Se. âWhy did they bring me here?â She didnât get to hear a reply for the trooper behind her prodded her back to make her go inside.
Hemlock addressed the Kaminoan after Omega was out of earshot. âYour prime minister mentioned you had an attachment to the young clone, so Iâve returned her to you. Perhaps now, you will reconsider working on the Emperorâs project.â
âWhat he seeks is not possible.â Nale Se argued.
âMake it possible. If you refuse or fail, Omega will suffer the consequences.â Hemlock threatened.
Satisfied that his threat had landed effectively, he waved the Kaminoan away and went to go inside but a clone voice stopped him.
âSir, weâve heard reports on an attack on the squad escorting the Jedi and the shuttle never checked in. It would seem she escaped.â
Hemlock had to hide his surprise. Clearly something had happened he had not anticipated. âThat is⌠unfortunate, but weâll make do⌠for now.â
--
Omega was led into a lab and what she saw horrified her. There were tubes and rows of unconscious clones strapped down onto testing tables. Then her eyes caught sight of someone she knew. âCrosshair!â
She ran over to him and tried to rouse him, âCrosshair? Crosshair?â He showed no signs of movement. She heard the sound of oncoming footsteps and turned to see the woman that must be âEmerieâ standing behind her.
âYou must be Omega.â Emerie said.
âWhat did you do to Crosshair?â She asked angrily.
âHeâs recovering. I tried to warn him what would happen if he did not cooperate with the doctor.â
âI want to talk to Nala Se.â
âIronic. You trust the Kaminoan, but not me.â
âI donât know you.â
âNo?â Emerie kneeled in front of the young girl and removed her glasses. âYou might know me better than you think.â
Omega furrowed her brow.
âWeâre sisters, Omega.â
--
Lyra finished tending to your head and cheek before she went to the cockpit to give you some time.
As you stared down the corridor and out into the blue clouds of hyperspace, you gained a true moment of clarity. The galaxy and the Empire had taken much from you, but youâd always been able to push through.
In a strange way, youâd even thought you were better off because of where youâd ended up. You had gained a greater sense of purpose, you had room to properly care for the people in your life, you had a family.
But now theyâd gone too far. Too much had been taken from you, your family, from the people you loved, and you werenât going to let it happen anymore. You couldnât let it happen anymore.
You werenât as strong as youâd thought you were. Something gets cracked enough times enough times, itâs bound to break.
You were done hiding.
Your arms fell to your sides and your fists clenched and the darkness you had been running from since Eriadu came flooding back. Only this time, this time you werenât going to fight against it.
This time.
This time, you embraced it.
