Let’s talk about villains for a hot minute here.
Quick question: what’s better, a villain that is punchable? Or a villain that makes your skin crawl?
I got both in OC form in To Guard Against Titans. Let’s meet two of the punchable ones:
“And you are Leo Frederick, commanding officer of the Cajeton .”
“Exactly, Tech ,” Leo snarled sarcastically, “I love that a flesh-droid like you is named after machinery.”
—————
Here’s Leo Frederick, commanding officer of the Cajeton. Modeled after an insufferable, condescending little dork that I had the misfortune of dealing with in 2023.
He despises clones. He hates strong women. He’s a stuck up, homophobic, narcissistic creep who thinks the world of himself and his work. He already violently dislikes Tech, who casually put the little punk in his place by pointing out all his flaws that are sitting right there on paper.
Now, let’s meet his boss!
“Did not think ‘Tech’ to be a real, human name,” Toivo started with a cold sneer, leaning further back in Tech’s chair, “But you clonelowda do choose your names yourselves.”
—————
Captain Toivo Saavedra got introduced as a memory way back in the beginning of Far Past the Ring, where his ex-fiancée, Sjael Drummer, is thinking about him while dealing with a failed science experiment.
A former officer and pilot in the OPA and Free Navy, he was a major supporter of Marco Inaros and now oversees a fleet of pirates.
Even though he’s never met him, Tech already finds himself disliking Toivo from the stories he hears in Far Past the Ring, before dealing with him in To Guard Against Titans. The guy’s a womanizing, backstabbing, arrogant prick who has no problem charming people and promptly tossing them aside when they are no longer useful.
He’s based off of two of my ex boyfriends! Stuck up, good looking jerks who treat people like Kleenex to be used and gotten rid of.
Fun to write, bad to be with, yall know it.

So tired of this biased green propaganda maesters lied nonsense. GRRM wrote Fire & Blood and if he wanted the dance to happen any other fucking way he would've written that it happened that way. There are obvious "probably not true" anecdotes within this book but that's not an excuse for condom and hiss to do whatever the fuck they want and write utter nonsense fanfic because whatever is in Fire & Blood is in the book the way it is because that's how the author wrote it. There are liberties one can take and things that can be expanded because Fire & Blood allows it but its not an excuse to bastardise every fucking character and outright erase others from existence like Nettles because you wanna write your own brainless rha*nyra fanfic. Condal, Hess, you can't fucking hide behind your "pRoPaGanDa" excuse forever. Your show is an unfaithful and shitty adaptation and you don't even have narrative consistency within the boundaries of the asinine million dollar fanfic you have produced.

I think it would be kinda funny if Roxy, with no attractions to run and not a lot else to do during the day, keeps getting really bored and showing up in the atrium with random shit that was discontinued years ago.
Like I dunno shows up driving a little train thing that used to drive people around all the different areas of the Plex or something and uses it to get people into areas they don't have a pass for as she runs over the staffbots that take your party passes. Starts her own robot wars thing on the main stage with a bunch of shitty remote controlled toys she found in the basement and taped a bunch of plastic cutlery to for weapons. Rallies a bunch of kids to call Freddy over and the second he pokes his head over the third floor balcony railing she fucking shoots him right in the face with a ball gun.
She does this kind of thing after hours too of course, but sometimes it's just a really slow day and she feels like the manager isn't mad at her enough yet lmao

I love how, even with how goofy and silly and immature MK can sometimes be, he's still a really clever character that's good at putting things together, especially in ways that the others might not think about. Being a little unserious and jocular and excitable are not inherently bad things, and they are not things that automatically mean that someone is stupid, no matter how distractable or fun-loving they might seem.
He's also very aware of his shortcomings, and is learning how to cope with his problems. I do like how they have it so far to where MK isn't getting over his problems right away, and acknowledging that sometimes things are just gonna... stick. It's a part of you, and it may stay that way for a long time. But it's livable, once you figure out how. You can even make it work for you. Take that same energy, turn it on its head, and put it towards something else. Not just coping with a problem, but learning ways to redirect it. It's really nice that this is out there, and that kids can see it. Whether or not all of them will pick up on the lessons is another matter; but I think that that some of them can, and have the opportunity to, is important.

honestly, Riya becoming so famous between seasons didn’t entirely make sense given how awful she was in the last few eps of s2. maybe that is just me tho
nah i definitely thought so too. but at the start of DCAS and for the entirety of DCS2 i didn't care for riya, so i didn't even think about it much
