i'm playing fire emblem fates for the first time (birthright route)

every character is so silly i love them all (which is why i am playing on casual hard mode)

i am so terrified i'll have to off my nohr siblings

putting more thoughts under a read more

so far i love all my hoshidan siblings! i think i have a slight takumi and sakura bias because i have a soft spot for healers and because takumi is very bullyable.

like. sir. you have like 9 RES

he made fun of leo for reading books too like i didn't read his supports and learn that takumi was also a total fucking nerd

anyways having a dancer-equivalent from the very beginning is very helpful. azura thank you for existing you make my strategies very fun to complete. and by strategies i mean sending in my strongest unit and watching them wreak havoc, usually corrin or ryoma since takumi can't one-range people.

(i remember playing through awakening. chrobin swept. in three houses i just had lysithea sweep everything with dark magic)

i put off playing fates for a while because i wanted to play it with the unofficial gay fates mod and i wasn't confident with adding mods to my 3ds games yet. safe to say i feel comfortable now!

my current matchmaking pairings are:

corrin + rinkah (i decided on this one in the very beginning i thought it'd be cute)

sakura + hana (princess and retainer!!)

takumi and hinata (prince and retainer!!!)

ryoma and saizo (PRINCE. AND. RETAINER!)

orochi and kagerou (duh)

jakob and silas (i thought it was funny)

felicia and azura (i thought their supports were cute)

kaden and azama (i looked up the UGF support list for this one)

i am dreading my conquest run i don't want to fight the hoshidans. then again i also don't want to fight the nohrians. i do want to get to know my nohr siblings more.

do you still have that story where saizo and corrin have a baby girl and he's worried about how he's going to raise her? it was soooo fluffy and one of my favorites 🥹🩷

(This is one of my favorites so I really wanted to repost it, which means I got to rewrite it from scratch!! Hope you enjoy)

You were both shocked when you discovered you were pregnant a third time. There were never been plans to expand the family further, as you were quite satisfied with your two boys.

Asugi and Kana were over the moon at the prospect of another sibling. Someone else to cause mischief with.

While Saizo was initially floored upon the discover, he was also quite eager. That is, until Azama and Sakura started gossiping about how different this pregnancy was.

How you were more irritable and ache-y than before, and that your physical and emotional struggles were much harder. It was deeply worrying for Saizo, but the healers assured him it was normal; and that it was incredibly common to see when women were pregnant with daughters.

They were quite certain it was a girl, not a  boy.

He didn’t believe them, of course. The Saizo line had never produced a daughter. Surely he wouldn’t be the first to do so! 

But then Orochi started foreseeing a lot of dainty, delicate clothes in the future; and him and his boys glaring at all sorts of potential suitors for this new child.

It only meant one thing, really; there must be a girl on the way.

Saizo had been stressing about it for weeks leading up to the birth. It was only in that moment you could know for sure. Because if he found out it was a girl…well, he had no idea what to do.

The day of labor came, and you were pushing, fighting to bring that baby into the world for all you were worth. It was a difficult birth, which convinced Saizo that three was more than enough.

The labor was finished off and the baby was finally delivered. He heard the sharp cry through the doors, which silenced all other mumbling and murmuring nearby.

The third-born of Saizo and Corrin officially arrived.

“Oh my gods, everyone!! You'll never believe it- Corrin has a new baby girl!!” Elise exclaimed, bursting out of the delivery room with sparkling eyes.

Everyone cheered, save for Kaze and Saizo.

The green-haired ninja eyed his brother warily, knowing that he had been squeamish at the thought of a daughter.

Now it had become his reality.

“Saizo…are you all right?”

He could not form words, speechless behind his mask. Kaze put a tentative hand on his brother’s shoulder.

“It will be all right, Saizo. My Midori is a wonderful little girl. I’m sure your daughter will be, too.”

“My…daughter.” He echoed, the words bringing him back to his senses. “My child- my wife, are they…?”

“They're both just fine, Saizo!” Elise informed him, “Corrin is awake, and in good spirits! Would you like to see them before we take the baby for her assessment? Corrin really wants you to come in!”

“Yes…of course.” He quickly followed her into the delivery room, the doors shutting behind him. And with it, silence followed. Now that he was there, time slowed to a stop; just mere steps away was his child. A girl. He wasn't sure if he was brave enough to face it.

“Saizo,” Your voice was weak, and strained hoarse. It was no wonder, from all the fighting you had to do just moments earlier. 

The quiet call broke his spell, drawing him back into reality so he could swiftly go to your side.

Saizo bent over, touching your hair and brushing it away from your face. You leaned into his touch, but you did not bring your hands up to meet his. They were preoccupied.

“Are you all right?” He asked you worriedly, looking you over to ensure you were not in any immediate danger. You nodded with a deep breath, tilting your face towards the child on your chest.

“We’re both okay. We…we have a daughter, Saizo.” You whispered to him, “Isn’t she beautiful?”

“I…” He trailed off, swallowing in a feeble attempt to steel himself. 

Nestled in a bundle of blankets was a very tiny, new ittle girl. She had a shock of crimson hair, just like him. There was a deep warmth that bloomed in his chest, gazing at his third-born child.

But with that warmth came a very real, very concerning spike of worry.

“Saizo?”

“Ah…yes. Yes, she is very beautiful.” He confirmed with a pinched frown, “But I worry.”

“You worry?” You reached up to cup his cheek, in tandem shifting the little girl so he might better see his perfectly healthy daughter.

“Of course I do- she’s the first daughter to ever be produced by the Saizo line.”

“That is a great honor.” You pointed out with a soft smile, quite proud to have been the first to make history in his family.

Well, aside from being a princess and a dragon. That also raised the stakes a little bit. But Saizo was far more concerned with other things.

“It is unprecedented; quite literally. How…how am I supposed to- how do we raise a girl?”

“It’s pretty straightforward, dear. Like the boys, but a little different.”

“There are no guides on how to train a Saizo in the secret family arts- not for one that is a girl!! All of our techniques, the flaming ninjutsu- they were created and perfected strictly for men!”

“Then we will find a way to teach her differently. She will adapt- she’s your daughter.”

“But she will be smaller than Asugi and Kana. Which means she may be more fragile, and have less stamina, and strength, and-”

“If you went toe to toe with me, do you think you’d be able to overpower me without a dragonstone?”

“...Perhaps. It tends to be an even match when we duel.” Saizo hummed, brow furrowed as he considered it. You gestured to your snoozing newborn.

“She will be no different to me. Besides; Kagero, Orochi and Rinkah are all exemplary warriors. No matter which path she chooses, I know she’ll be an excellent warrior with your tutelage. Though I doubt you’d let her go far from the ninja way.”

“I would prefer she grew up like Kagero in terms of skills, it’s true.” He admitted, but the worry lingered. You frowned some, seeing he had yet to be comforted.

You raised your hand, gently lowering the mask to reveal a deep frown on his lips. 

“What else are you worried about? It’s better to get it all out now than later, don’t you think?” You joked some, tilting your head towards the baby.

Saizo frowned softly, “I worry that she will be vulnerable…and her face…her hair! She will look just like me!”

“Is that bad?”

“Yes!! Think of all the suitors she will have-- the boys and girls!! Can you imagine the kind of trouble that we’ll have to protect her from?!”

“Ohh…” Your smile broadened, “You want to protect your little girl already?”

“I just…it will be difficult for her as she gets older. Especially as the first and only daughter of a Saizo. I worry about many things…some I cannot even begin to think about- I do not know how to raise a daughter, o-or what she will need from me, or the best way to train her, or…there are too many unknowns, Corrin!” He cleared his throat, looking away. 

You shook your head, carefully shifting the baby up for him. “Why don’t you hold her? I know it will make all your worries fade away.”

“N-no, I…I don’t think I should…” He trailed off, just as you passed the little bundle right into his arms. 

The instant she landed in his arms, it was like his whole world shifted.

His little girl was hardly the length of his forearm, but just the sight of her filled his chest. He held her close and snug, right to his heart. 

She was perfect.

And it made all of his fears fade away in an instant.

“See?”

Your voice was almost faded in the background. He was utterly enraptured by his daughter. The first daughter of the Saizo line.

And she was so beautiful.

You were beaming, a single tear slipping from the corner of your eye as you watched your husband fall even deeper in love with his daughter than he ever thought possible.

“I…I can’t even remember what I was so worried about.” His voice was shaky. Just like he was when he held his baby Asugi and baby Kana.

You held out your hand, which Saizo was very quick to take. 

He squeezed your hand, carefully shifting so that he was sitting right on the edge of the bed, bringing his daughter to rest between her mother and father.

“You were right.” He murmured softly, and leaned down, kissing your forehead. “I’m so proud of you…you’ve done well.”

“Heehee…” You tilted your chin up, prompting a proper kiss. “I hope you won’t mind handling the boys while I recover. I think we’ll have our hands full for a while.”

“Do not fret. I will take care of everything. I will make sure that my wife, my sons and my daughter are all well tended. You have my word.”

“As a Saizo?” You grinned at him, and he chuckled softly, hugging you and your little girl to his chest.

“As your Saizo. Both of you.”

Who's the Most Likely, Least Likely, or Maybe Mothers for Asugi based on Classes, looks, supports, and/or mannerisms?

Hi guys, remember when I asked who's the something like this for the Awakening child units? Well this time I'm doing it for the Fates child units. Most Child units inherit the hair color from their Mothers (with the exception of Male Kana, who inherited his father's hair color, and Shigure). But some parents are more fitting for some child units then others based on Classes, looks, supports, mannerisms, etc. I'm not looking for who would make the kid stronger. Just a parent who would make sense for the Child Units.

For this one it's about our sugar obsessed ninja who greatly resembles Gaius (who might be his previous life).

Those that see (?) It means that I'm not sure if it counts as evidence or not.

Here's what I've gathered so far?

1.) Saizo absolutely hates sweets, so Asugi's love for then didn't come from him.

Sakura has a huge love of sweets. Their Children Scramble talk mentions this. Same goes for Beruka.

In Rinkah's support with Kaze, it's revealed that she loves sweets too but she hides it because he doesn't want to be seen as weak.

Orochi states in her support with Ryoma that Mikoto was very fond of sweets just like Corrin.

Maybe Oboro? I say maybe because if she's a chef in the Mess Hall the meal she makes is in the "Sweet Flair" tier, I not sure if it counts though.

2.) Asugi's support with Male Corrin reveal he's a good baker.

Let's go over the worst cooks first: Hinoka's Flair tier is Reckless, Rinkah's Flair tier is Burnt, Setsuna tier is Disgusting and her support with Hinoka reveals it takes several days for them to do an omelet recipe with Setsuna nearly burning the kitchen, and Felicia's Flair tier is Noxious and her clumsiness messes up the cooking.

The best cooks are Charlotte, Azura, and Mozu. In Charlotte's case her Flair tier is Alluring and she practiced so that she can get a rich husband as it stated in her B Support with Saizo. In Mozu's case her Flair tier is Delicious and a lot of her supports involve her collecting ingredients or cooking. In Azura's case her Flair tier is Mouthwatering.

Female Corrin can't cook but she is a fairly skilled baker in her support conversations with Dwyer.

As for the rest is ambiguous, Sakura's Flair tier is Hoshidan, Beruka and Hana's Flair tier is Salty, Orochi's Flair tier is Sophisticated, Oboro's Flair tier is Sweet, and Kagero's Flair tier is Elegant (although people might hesitant to eat it because her strange sense of foreboding art effects what her food looks like).

3.) Asugi bonds with Ignatius over their mutual love of cute things and is unapologetic about it unlike Ignatius who is shy about it. Asugi also makes most of his confections have a cutesy design.

Although Hana is a tomboy, she does have a love for cute and girly thinks as shown in her supports with Hayato. So I see her encourage Asugi love for cute things.

Oboro is love fashion and clothing, Asugi inherit her sense of fashion but not with clothes instead how he styles his candies.

Azura has a weakness to cute things

Charlotte was bullied for being too tomboyish as a kid, so I feel she would encourage his love for cute things the same way her parents accepted her.

If your interested in Irony, I would say like while Asugi likes cute designs and shows it with the candy he makes, Kagero has foreboding aesthetics bleed down into just about everything she does, with a sense of foreboding gloom being infused in the images she paints, the arrangements she puts flowers in and even the food she cooks and tea she brews.

4.) In Awakening, Gaius's base class sets are Thief, Myrmidon, and Fighter. Asugi's standard class is Ninja, he inherited the Samurai class option from Saizo. If you want to make a call-back to Gaius's Awakening base class set's have Charlotte be his mother as Asugi inherit's her Fighter class option. I mean, Beruka has a Fighter class but Asugi can't inherit it, only the Wyvern Rider class.

5.) Gaius's is known to have horrible personal hygiene in his supports with Cordelia, which makes it ironic that Asugi is said to smell the best out of everyone in the army. I can see Asugi being strongarmed into having good personal hygiene by Charlotte (due to her mocking Saizo's clothes and her always taking care of herself to look good for men, Charlotte did mention she's a make-up connoisseur in her support with Selkie), and Oboro (due to being a fashionista and her not liking Saizo's clothes)

6.) In Asugi's supports with Male Corrin, Saizo, and Soleil, it is revealed that like his father and uncle, Asugi is very popular with girls due to his generous nature with his sweets. However, his true intention behind his generosity is information gathering, which he calls his own version of "sweet-talking". There's also the fact that Gaius does some casual flirting in a lot of his romantic Supports.

Charlotte acts like a flirt towards men and tries to charm them with her cooking. In Asugi's Children Scramble talk with Charlotte it's revealed that he inherits her enjoyment of being popular with the opposite sex. But he's able to rein it in due to inheriting his father's sense of reason.

Several of Female Corrin's supports include them handing candy to the other person. Though there is no ulterior motives involved.

7.) Asugi is mischievous and light-hearted.

Corrin has her moments of being mischievous. This is a little more prominent with Female Corrin, as she enjoys making Asugi (if he's not her son) flustered (she finds his reactions cute) and tells Ignatius ghost stories to purposefully scare him.

When Azura does open up, she proves to have quite the mischievous side, such as scaring Sakura with ghost stories.

Orochi is mischievous as she fools Odin into doing her shopping by making him think he has a terminal issue with his spellcasting.

While not mischievous, Setsuna does have moments of being light-hearted

The teasing and being lighthearted could be something he inherited from his uncle Kaze.

8.) Asugi is is very strict on himself when it comes to his duties as a ninja.

Hinoka is dedicated to fighting, her training as a Sky Knight, and becoming stronger for the sake of her homeland.

Beruka took her job seriously as an assassin before she became Camilla's retainer. Still took her job as Camilla's retainer seriously.

Kagero is extremely dedicated to her job, proof of that his her supports with Corrin.

Hana is hardworking to the point that she sometimes misses several meals at a time.

(?) In Oboro's supports with Corrin she's shown working herself ragged on a moonless night, although it's because so she won't have nightmares involving her parents death.

(?) Corrin is dedicated to her family

Although Asugi taking his job seriously could be from Saizo

(?) While Felicia is terrible working as a maid, she does try and is hard working about it.

(?) Mozu starts of as weak villager but she can become a powerful unit later on. That's being dedicated.

What Asugi could inherit from his possible mother in Hoshidan Festival of Bonds

If Charlotte is his mother, he inherits her enjoyment of being popular with the opposite sex. Thankfully, he's also inherited his father's sense of reason, so he's able to rein it in.

Asugi seems to have inherited Setsuna’s tendency to fall into traps and Saizo’s nimbleness to get out of them.

Asugi mentions he got his sweet-tooth from Beruka

Asugi inherited Oboro's sense of fashion in a way. Not with clothes though, but rather how he designs his candy

Asugi inherited a bit of Felicia scatterbrainess.

Asugi inherited Hana's recklessness

For the looks department I can't help there since I normally can't tell which child unit looks like who more (do him and Default Female Corrin have similar bangs? Is is it just me?). Anyway I'd like to hear your thoughts on who is the Most Likely, Least Likely, or Maybe Mothers for Asugi based on Classes, looks, supports, and/or mannerisms. Shigure doesn’t know what exactly his sexuality is, but he has felt attraction to men and women.

Dwyer is trans masc and uses he/it; he’s also gay

Sophie is bisexual with no stronge lean either way.

Midori doesn’t know what’s she’s attacted to. She doesn’t care about relationships yet.

Shiro is pansexual

Kiragu is a trans man, using he/him. He’s on the aroacespectrum.

Asugi is gay

Mitama is on the asexual spectrum.

Hisama is on the aroace spectrum and has a positive view on relationships.

Caeldori is a lesbian

Rhajat is canonically bisexual. She has a fem lean.

Selkie is a trans woman who uses she/her, and she’s bi.

Siegbert is omnisexual with no strong preference either way.

Forrest doesn’t label his gender and uses any pronoun, mainly he/him but he doesn’t mind others. He’s pansexual

Soleil is a lesbian

Ophelia is on the aroace spectrum with an indifferenty opinion on relationships.

Nina is a lesbian

Percy, like Midori, doesn’t care about relationships at his age, but he is bi curious.

In case anyone who follows me forgot or did not know. Good lord I love Saizo and bless him for finally getting an alt and also bless him for being the only reasonable adult once again (in the paralogues). This man suffers so much from the people around him and the fact even his alt isn't a vacation but more stress is really funny to me (and bad for him, sorry buddy).

Qualifier 9: Fates

I'm fairly certain this is impossible in terms of canon, but I've always liked the idea that Asugi, Caeldori, and Rajhat are straight-up Gaius, Cordelia, and Tharja, and after the events of Fates, they're dragged through time and space to Awakening's timeline.

Anankos summons Owain, Severa, and Inigo to save the world and they change their names.

Naga summons Asugi, Rhajat, and Caeldori to save the world and they change their names.

Repeat ad infinitum.

And somewhere down the line, Cordelia and Severa freak out and realize that they've become their own grandparents a la Philip J. Fry.
