Do you like to draw in silence, or with music?

I can’t draw in silence, it makes me go a little crazy.

I usually prefer watching shows or movies, something not super intense so I don’t have to actually look at the screen all that often. Competition shows are perfect for this!

If I need to focus I then go for music, and I have playlists for different moods 😊

Regarding Eva rarely calling Diabolik by his name, it's because she finds it absurd. Well, at least that is what they made it into in the remake of L'arresto di Diabolik. She tells Ginko (actually a Diabolik disguised as Ginko) that it's an absurd name, it's hilarious.

i mean it IS a bit stupid. but the whole concept of eva hearing this name that everyone seems to fear and going 'huh? that's a dumb name' is killing me

I did like “Did she just start a game, one with an opponent that had been playing for much longer and never lost? No, something told her. The game had been going on for far longer. It was her fault that she couldn’t see it. No matter. There would be no more mistakes.” when I first wrote it, but eh, not as much anymore.

8: Did any real people or events inspire any part of it? Hmmm....not specifically. I suppose you could say I draw ideas of how to write relationships and characters from my own life (so when we are writing young children I’m thinking about my cousins, when I write the relationship between Lucretia and Sabina I think of me and my older sister). But there aren’t specific people that I pick up and implant into a story, you know?

9: Were there any alternate versions of this fic? Lol, I’d say there were two. The first time I thought about this, it was adding to someone else’s post. People were talking about Mama Augustus, and I kind of went off on a headcanon. Like...okay, she was like Mustang.....Nero cared about her.......she had to be smart......but why would she marry Nero? I don’t know where that post is, lol. I’ve tried to find it.

The second version was the version in my head when I started and thought this could be like, three chapters. RIP. 

13: What music did you listen to, if any, to get in the mood for writing this story? Or if you didn’t listen to anything, what do you think readers should listen to to accompany us while reading? Hahaha! Music! Yes, I listen to a lot of music while writing. For this fic, seasons one and two of The Crown give a nice feeling a grandeur and posh-ness with just enough drama. I stick to instrumentals while writing, but I’ve said this before and I’ll say it again: If I Say by Mumford and Sons absolutely hits the nail on the head for me with these two. By the end of this story, I can only hope to capture the sort of “hey, I think I resent you, I think something is wrong here, but you are saying you love me and I love you too, and there’s no explanation for what we are doing or how we are going forward and there’s no excuses or justifications or reasons for how you make me feel besides ‘if I say I love you, then I love you’”

Headcanons for Red Rising? :D

I have a headcanon for when Virginia met Darrow’s mom for the first time. (Most of my headcanons come from wanting to know Mustang’s POV.)

So when Virginia went in there and they talked and she found out that Darrow was a Red, and she knew she was pregnant. Darrow’s mother never liked Eo, but I imagine that she would like Virginia better. Eo had, in a way, manipulated Darrow into taking action, while Mustang is so hands-off - even when she knows better. And I think that Darrow’s mother would see that, and appreciate it. It would be really tense at first. A Gold and a protective mother of a Red. Really, two women who want to protect their loved ones, and they aren’t sure if they can trust each other. The society had been set up to make them look at one another and assume they will be enemies. But I think that they are intelligent enough to not let those assumptions override their good sense, and luckily their interests align.

I also love the idea of Mustang hanging around the Telemanuses. I love that family so much, and I think that’s one of the only places where Mustang would be able to let her guard down. They don’t try to get anything from her, to use her in any way. They are just good and wholesome and Virginia has had so little of that in her life. They make her eat delicious and fattening food. At first they tried to shock her with off-color jokes, but she came right back with a few of her own. The most important thing is that they help and serve her by choice, because they respect and care for her, not because they have to, and that difference is everything.

To provide a quick summary, there are some zekis in the fandom that are claiming that ERS’s translation of a particular scene (where Yuuki adomishes Zero for his reckless behaviour) in the recent chapter is biased.

This is, of course, completely false (which has been further reinforced by another scanlation group translating that scene in a very similar manner).

Its just another case of some people wanting to stir unnecessary drama in the fandom, and acting like immature children.

Fave and least fave thing to draw?

Hi!! Faces and hair are some of my faves, and I really like adding final details like trim, lighting, highlights.

Hands are still really tricky for me, and armor can be a real drag because it involves sooooo much rendering/thinking/time 😅 the end result is usually worth it though!

Also backgrounds are evil. I’m trying to get better at them but it’s so hard 😅

What are some things you love about the Red Rising Trilogy? 😁

Hi! Quite a few things. Mostly they have to do with plot and world-building!

I love the plot and how twisty-turny it is and how you never know who you can trust.

Maybe that’s partly because Darrow is really naive in the beginning of the series, which I appreciate the fact that he grows out of that.

I love the scope of the books. I don’t just mean that it’s in space, but the history and process they had to go through to get this society established.

Victra and Sevro.

Sevro being an endearing perv.

Mustang and Darrow.

Mustang being smarter than everyone.

The stratification of the society is interesting because right now (irl) we have the same thing but in less explicit terms. Right now people act like there are differences in races even though there is actual biological bases, but in RR they literally made people different in order to justify their behavior/retention of power.

So many characters I love to hate.

Moral ambiguity.

The question of do I take care of my own, or do I sacrifice to take care of others (aka the end of Iron Gold).

As soon as new characters are introduced, you pretty much have strong feelings for them one way or another.

Never knowing who is going to die on the next page (it’s a fun sort of stress!)

The narrator of the audiobooks is good too!
