How they sleep | Various Characters

Characters: Astolfo, Noé, Muichiro, Zenitsu, Nagi, and Kunigami

A/N: This counts as a headcanon, right? It should.. If not, please let me know! 😅

Astolfo sleeps holding onto you like his life depends on it. His head rested on your chest while his arms are wrapped so tightly around you that you fear he may break a bone. It's a suffocating, selfish embrace that purely benefits him and his needs and he won't let up no matter how much you complain.

Noé sleeps like me a wild little kid. You may fall asleep with him in your arms or vice versa but it's only a matter a time before he wakes you up by accidentally kicking you in the face or causing a ruckus by tumbling off the bed.

Muichiro sleeps curled up to your body. His arms are draped around your waist, his head is rested on your chest or shoulder, and his legs are tangled with yours. More times than not, you get woken up by his hair tickling your face.

Zenitsu sleeps clinging to you as if you're his life source or something. His legs and arms trap you and prevent you from escaping and his grip is surprisingly difficult to break out of. He's also a heavy sleeper which makes it hard to wake him up. Good luck trying to go to the bathroom..

Nagi sleeps like the dead. Legs stiffly together and his arms crossed against his chest. Sometimes he'll snake an arm around your waist but most times you're just cuddled up to his side.

Kunigami sleeps embracing you in a protective manner. An arm is limply over the back of your neck while the other is resting on your back or hip. When he's awake, he tends to rub little circles into your back until you both eventually lull off to sleep.

Astolfo:

-Be prepared for sneak attacks. Astolfo will randomly appear and throw himself at you at an alarming speed that you may or may not be able to react. He will jump on your back, jump at your front, randomly pull you into a hug so tight you just straight up loose balance. You will start to get all too familiar with either some core strength or the floor.

-Will cough loudly to get your attention if you attempt to leave him anywhere without some form of affection. Saying goodbye isn't enough, where is a kiss? Or a hug? He'll take a headpat! But come on he expects something! He'll be so dramatic if you don't.

-Perfect yapper to fall asleep to. He will just talk and talk about random things - even more so when you're nearby. But you're one of the few people he'll allow to fall asleep while he's talkng and not immediately attempt to wake up or doing something like draw on your face.

-But he does bring it up. He is dramatic about. "You fell asleep when I was getting to the good part of my story, but that's okay I now how you can make it up to me!" Please see affection option from point 2 for how to make it up to him.

You know what I find funny? If they were to tell people that they were together, they would think that is a lie. Knowing how me and kokichi are two complete different type of people. Which I find funny honestly.

I also made a few changes to kokichi design, I'm staying in the canon side but a few tiny changes. Like his buttons and I add a bit of color to his hair for fun. I also Headcanon him with a fang like astolfo because I thought it was cute look.

you ever notice how the general fandom reception of a transfem headcanon of a femmy/crossdressing amab character seems directly proportional to how much of a malicious stereotype they are? like

chihiro/rui/feris/astolfo types: endless pages of discourse about gnc male erasure, a thing that is not a real problem at all even remotely

james pokemon/link loz/cloud ff7 and similar: ostensibly accepted in lots of "I can see them trans any direction :D!" but rarely any definitively transfem content

magne bnha/morley one piece/frank n furter genuinely offensive caricatures: "total genderfuck icon" held up as gold standard no matter what the many many actually transfem detractors say

and that's not even to mention the amount of Just A Guy cis men that get commonly assigned transfem by fandoms for basically no reason (the dude from stranger things, those supernatural brothers, the werewolf guy from harry potter) that then proceed to never depict those characters living and existing as women they just happen to be the bottom in a lot of yaoislop pairings

I meant that ppl are mad at the bi erasure of Achilles so ‘ppl would riot if the character is straight’ was referring to that, which admittedly I worded wrong. Some ppl are disappointed that Fergus being ‘bi’ (I don’t know enough of him to know if this is true or not) had no males on his list only women and therefore ‘he’s straight’ so they’re upset on that. Also because he has some females that ‘is meant for the player’ has reawakened ppl crapping on him again for having ‘no tastes’ or some other argument.

But yes, ppl get mad at male characters who show interests at the female characters pandered to the player, and then they get treated like garbage by the fandom. So yes, a list would be fun but also just in fandom shipping spaces it’s just too exhausting to deal with. Some people will enjoy it and other ppl will use it as a weapon to gatekeep. Tumblr is on the side where it’s more chill—other spaces are not.

I wish more servants gave us lists of people they’d fuck tbh

Malagi and Bradamante are my two OC from chasseurs. Originally Malagi (or Maugis, or Malagigi) is a character from medieval French epic songs, gestas, as Roland, Olivier, Ogier and others. Bradamante, like Astolfo, is a character from Renaissance poems written by Italian poets Boiardo and Ariosto, "Orlando Inamorato" and "Orlando Furioso".

In my headcanon they are older than Roland and Olivier and are childhood friends. Also Bradamante was a trainer for young Roland and Olivier.

A/N: Love Astolfo and I love when people request stuff for him! I hope this is to you're liking despite not being the most comforting! 😊

↪ In my opinion, Astolfo would find a clingy significant other very, very irritating.

↪ Maybe out in public, though, his irritation will waver depending on where his partner falls on the clingy scale. Like, if they're at a seven or higher and is always trying to follow him around, repeatedly stomps all over his boundaries, needs reassurance 24/7, I see him being infuriated and breaking up with them.

↪ Now, anything under a six is manageable. Maybe his partner tails after him but is always talked out/talk themselves out of going to the extremes. Maybe when he's hanging out with them they need him to compliment them or reassure them on something every now and again. See, that's a headache, but a headache he can deal with.

↪ I definitely see him taking it the wrong way. Like, if his partner tends to try and follow after him or distract him from his duties in order to spend time with him, I see him twisting it in his head and thinking they're trying to protect him which'll anger him because that means in his head that they think he's weak and needs protecting which he doesn''t need from anyone.

↪ If they're physically clingy, that'll also be a problem. He's not a touchy person..at all. He's begun to despiss it actually ever since..y'know. It's definitely a boundary for him and if his partner steps over that, they may get hurt. ( I definitely see him like instinctively swinging on them or something after being reminded of what happened in the past from a simple side hug or any sudden physical contact )

↪ He doesn't mind saying affirmations in private settings. Depending on how long he and his partner have been dating, he'll naturally have some walls down around them which'll allow him to feel more comfortable saying certain things. In public, he doesn't want anyone to view him as soft so his partner is out of luck there. He'll also grow very annoyed very quickly if his partner needs reassurance every five minutes. ( I definitely see him blowing up on them in that case )

↪ An overly-jealous type of clingy person will also get on his nerves. He's forced to socialize with many people in his line of work..and outside his line of work. He talks to males and females alike all the time and if his partner blows up over something like that or, even worse, accuses him of infidelity, he won't put up with it and'll ultimately leave.

↪ Basically, he'll put up with someone like that, but only to a certain extent.

VnC 58: the case study of astolfo

After a whole year of suspense, the Case Study of Vanitas is back with a bang and so is this tumblr blog. Time isn’t real, so let’s pretend that this analysis came out when I wrote it after reading chapter 58 rather than the day before chapter 59. Let’s go!

As always, although it’s been a while, this post will contain massive spoilers for VnC 58 and is intended for those who have read up to this point in the manga!

Chapter 58 begins with (an absolutely stunning shot of Vanitas’s tarte tatin) a quick recap of the plot so far and where the main cast is at the moment— Domi and Jeanne tragically finish their conversation offscreen; Domi and Noé have an adorable reunion; and Jeanne leaves the hotel alone, likely to report on her successful mission to a worried Luca. Jeanne looks adorably carefree as she heads out and I pray for a flashback to her conversation with Domi in the near future.

Moving rapidly along, we cut to the Archiviste Noé caught a glimpse of last chapter, traveling through the border between worlds. We learn that she’s familiar with Comte and likely Luna as well, and she and Comte sit down to have a very Pandora Hearts flavored tea break. Comte says that mystery Archiviste hasn’t travelled to the human world in ages, making it very unlikely that she was there explicitly to see Noé, although it’s possible she was (like Comte) waiting in the shadows to intervene if the fair fight reached a certain point.

Mystarchiviste in turn reveals that Comte’s existence is “unstable”. The only context we really have for that term is Vani and Misha, artificial followers of the blue moon lying somewhere between human and vampire… Comte certainly acts like a vampire, but maybe he’s actually something much more in between? My half-theory half-headcanon is that his obsession with Luna stems partially from feeling commonality with another being who doesn’t understand their own existence…

Speaking of Luna, Comte taking their form has interesting lore implications (can he take the form of anyone he’s met, or is there another requirement that has to be met first?) and also interesting fanfic implications but let’s move rapidly onwards to the real meat of chapter 58.

the chasseurs are insane

A majority of VnC 58 takes place in an extended flashback, as Astolfo reflects on his past. This flashback confirms a lot of what past chapters have implied about Astolfo— he was consumed by self hatred and guilt following the vampire attack, to the point of attempting suicide. The whole flashback could easily read as yet another parallel to Vanitas, who, after finding himself as the sole survivor a second time in a row, turned to a path he knew would culminate in his own death.

We meet two fun new characters during this section of the chapter— a guy wearing an earring (I was half-wondering if this was a younger version of Olivier’s assistant, but their eyebrows and earrings are different, so he’s probably one of Gano’s homeboys) and Charles.

Earring guy is suspicious. He might have some sort of plot relevant past (cough cough, No. 7- [i am escorted off the stage]), he might be an average chasseur with a vampire related incident in his history, or he might just be your standard issue psychopath. My favorite Mochijun Flavored Detail this chapter is the panel where, under the guise of breaking up Mira and Gano’s brawl, he moves to block Olivier’s line of sight and path to Astolfo. It’s just so Mochijun and i missed her so much—-

Charles is neato, but he sort of has this vibe where he’s not meant to be the star of the panels he’s in. It’s like Astolfo isn’t fully looking at him. Even though Charles is trying to inspire faith in Astolfo here, the only light Astolfo sees is Roland. In his double-page introductory panel Charles is exclusively lit by light coming in through the door as Roland opens it. Roland, meanwhile, looks like a savior, the light behind him blinding, and Astolfo bursts into tears when he sees him. I’m so excited to watch their relationship collapse as this flashback continues..!

Through Charles’s conversation with Astolfo, we learn a very interesting piece of lore: when a vampire bites someone they aren’t injecting an aphrodisiac or poison with their fangs— they’re actively rewriting their world formula, and sometimes these effects are permanent. I feel like I should’ve been able to riddle this out, given the whole mark of the blue moon thing, but the fact that this happens so frequently throughout the series, and that Jeanne has rewritten Vanitas, is feckin shocking and feels like it has some very interesting implications for the series. Perhaps Archivistes are unique in that, rather than rewriting with their bite, they read what’s already there.

I honestly don’t have many other thoughts on Charles. He gets carried around and nobody’s allowed see him, possibly implying that he’s become sicker/ his existence has gotten more unstable ;) since he originally became a paladin. Maybe he’s the head honcho Roland and Olivier are working against, maybe he’s actually dead by the time we hit the main plotline. At this point, it feels like he could move in any direction.

interpretation, extrapolation, being wrong, that’s the mochijuncycle

Vampires rewrite the world formula when they bite others, often leading to devastating and permanent consequences for those they’ve bitten. Misha and Vanitas aren’t the only two unstable beings in existence— while we’ve never heard of VnC vampires turning humans with their bite, maybe once a human has been rewritten enough times they too become unstable. Maybe Comte, in constantly changing his name and shape, has been rewriting himself to the point of instability. Maybe Noé struggles to rewrite because, as an Archiviste, he was born to simply read and record.

But you probably shouldn’t trust me on any of this because, as always, this is 100% my biased initial interpretation of Chapter 58! I hope you’re all as hyped to see this flashback play out as I am, and I’ll see you (hopefully somewhat) soon for VnC 59!
