Magneto: "Doesn't it ever wake you in the night? The feeling that someday they will pass that foolish law, or one just like it, and come for you and your children?"
Charles: "It does indeed."
Magneto: "What do you do, when you wake up to that?"
Charles: "I feel a great swell of pity for the poor soul who comes to that school looking for trouble."
Huh.
I've never really clocked the true subtext of this conversation from the end of the original X Men film. Xavier knows there's a good chance of it happening, he wakes up in the night afraid of it. Despite all of his empty rhetoric about hope and coexistence, he knows there is a real and present danger to mutants. He just trains child soldiers and feels secure in his mansion fortress. He doesn't truly believe that peace and coexistence will prevail any time soon, he just has the luxury and delusion to believe his home is strong enough to be safe.
And that really is one of the core differences between them, isn't it? Charles wakes up afraid of that future, and feels safe in his little fortress. Erik fears it, and thinks of those mutants who can't protect themselves, or who'll die in the fighting regardless.

Logan has heard rumors of a town full of nothing but Mutants. A town largely unbothered by the American government. Some mutants are talking about going there, only to never be heard from again. Naturally, Logan's inclined to see if it's total bullshit.
It takes digging.
Lots of digging.
Xavier doesn't think it exists. He hasn't found anything pointing to it being real, beyond hopeful mutants trying to find this place.
But there's no thoughts from people living in such a place.
Until he convinces Xavier to dig a little harder.
Then, finally, they get some crumbs.
The town is hidden, kept out of sight and out of mind. Most senators don't know it exists, and those that do, don't know where it is. Not just senators; military personnel, cops, mayors, state officials, the Board of Education.
None of them can say exactly where this town is.
But Xavier manages to get a name.
Amity Park.
From there, it's footwork, and it takes Logan a grand total of seven weeks to find the damn place.
One step in and he knows he's gonna need a second set of eyes. A younger set that can more freely talk with the kids of the town without scaring them away.
This town, while less hostile than most of America towards mutants, is far from utopia. There's a sect of government called the GIW that tries to lift mutants from the streets in broad daylight, discriminatory laws that don't even try to hide what they are, and ghosts or aliens or other mutants floating above/walking the streets.
The only saving grace of this place is that there's a mutant stronger than the rest, one that fights against this GIW and routinely saves the population.
Kid seems to be doing good work.
Just...one slight problem.
Every single person in this town is a Mutant, and every single person in this town smells like they're dead.
Including the ones that had run to it and never been heard from again, for all that they act like they're alive.
There's one boy, however, that stands out above the rest.
He's got black hair, blue eyes, and does a color pallet swap to gain access to his powers. It's their little hero. Kid could use a mask to hide his face, but so far no one is putting two and two together.
Logan knows it's the same kid, though.
That kid is the only one in this town that makes his instincts scream at him to run for his life.

Julian Bashir meeting an alternate universe version of himself who still goes by Jules. Jules doesn't fake eye contact as well as Julian. When he speaks, it's mostly in short direct sentences, as few words and as to the point as possible. He can still ramble for an hour on a topic he's passionate about though.
Julian realising in slow horror that Jules is also a doctor. Jules also works for Starfleet. Jules is also stationed on DS9. Jules is friends with his own Garak, who thinks he is delightful and intelligent and interesting. Jules is still friends with a Miles O'Brien who thinks he is a little weird and off putting but will fist fight anyone who talks bad about him. They still play darts and racquetball, though Jules isn't quite as good, he and Miles still treat each other as friendly rivals.
Jules, who is still a diligent and dedicated professional, who takes pride in his work as a doctor, and whose parents were arrested and charged before he ever set foot on Adigeon Prime. Jules, who mended Kukalaka and continued to stitch him up for years to come just like Julian.
The slowly dawning horror Julian has at realising that this is who he might have been, and that Jules is, in fact, fine. He wasn't top of his class, but he's still a damn good doctor. He can't work for three days straight without sleeping, but he's no less dedicated. He's not as physically adept, but he's doing fine. He's loved. He's fulfilled. He's happy.
Julian Bashir isn't sure how any of that is making him feel about himself at all, nor does he know why he finds himself crying himself to sleep that night.

really obsessed with the concept of fairies as tools. like it happens in every fantasy video game ever, a little companion who guides the way or fairy consumables or ‘items’ that are utilized for a specific purpose. like, the meta horror of it? are those fairies just ‘creatures’, or are they sapient? if they are sapient, are normal sized folk aware of that and just not care? or are they unaware that’s a whole actual person? why would typical fantasy heroes be cool with using intelligent living beings as tools or food or whatever? and how do the fairies feel about all of this? what happens if a hero builds a bond with a fairy more than they should? what happens when a tool isn’t a tool anymore, because that tool can breathe and think and you’ve only just realized it? and the fairy’s POV, like, what is it like being recognized as a person and not an object for the first time?

'What if we explored each other's bodies?'
You wonder if I mean sex. I put on my rucksack and hiking boots and start trekking across your back, eventually making camp on your calf for the night. You are unbelievably uncomfortable and cramping up.

thinking about a giant, who parted ways with their tiny lover long ago in a very messy break up. they thought it’d get easier over the years, but anytime they lift something that fits easily in the palm of their hand, they can’t help but remember the someone who used to fit perfectly there. they run their thumb over coins and picture touching a different small face. anytime they hold a doll or figurine, their fingers linger around it a few seconds longer than necessary.
they never look at anything small the same way again.

cannot stand lazy evil genies. used to be that you had to come up with a bespoke ironic twist that taught the wisher a meaningful lesson about life and desire. nowadays it's apparently enough to be like, "okay, you can have your 1 billion dollars, but you never specified you didn't want to get your DICK chewed off by HUNGRY RATS" like it's so clearly arbitrarily tacked on and the connective tissue is so thin it gives the entire evil genie industry a bad name

[OC X CANON/YUMEJOSHI CONTENT]
Art by Sunjin_mugu
„A Doodle Type“ was it called, but what I got was a Painting I want to put into a Museum. It’s so breathtakingly beautiful... I wish I had better words to express my feelings for it.
It was an Omakase Type - I am just so speechless. The Artist managed to perfectly capture TrisQuia. I saw this Artist more often on my Timeline and fell so in love with their Artstyle, I was so happy when I was able to commission them. I didn’t even mention anything about FGO I think, so them putting the CE frame over it really surprised me!

something i really really enjoy about garak's character every time i rewatch ds9 is how fucking messy he is. and like, obviously he is an incredibly interesting man who relies on ephemera and subtext to survive, taped together with trauma and his own convictions, but he's also a messy bitch in the real housewives sense as well. he would be so at home on a bravo reunion set with a glass full of wine. his entire storyline in 2x05 is him digging up dirt on dukat just bc he wants to be a huge bitch. character of all time.
