This is gonna sounds goofy but in a particular fandom ship I'm in the fans really bicker about height difference and seethe when artists make the male character taller than the female. I don't particularly care one way or the other and find that type of nitpicking to be pretty petty.

But then I imagined what if astarlach shippers did that and cringed. I imagined astarion taller than karlach, him bending down to kiss her or to pick her up and embrace her and the thought made me so uncomfortable! I know it's a nonissue but just picturing astarion taller than karlach is so weird to me. Someone else suffer with taller astarion cringe with me. He stays shorter no matter what! Haha

Started a new bg3 playthrough. this time im doing everything by the book. being as good as possible. Gale, Wyll, and Karlach are my babies. Astarion and Shadowheart hate me. Laezel is possibly coming on to me, but I think thats bc im a dragonborn.

Surprisingly, this might be my favorite yet. I hate that I enjoy being good.

hmm i don't think the nuances of astarion's reaction to araj is to do with him finding romanticisation of his vampirism specifically to be distasteful so much as, like, she's objectifying him and that's what he doesn't like (but instead of sex, it's based on his vampirism). something something there's a difference between strangers and someone you trust something

the bug in the game that makes astarion just look grossed out and smile awkwardly at the camera for a second when you ask to kiss him and then back at Tav like he's literally asking us if we're being for real is literally making me cry laughing like oh my god

Astarion and Zelaia are best friends and poor Gale definitely had a lot of insecurities for a while that she would end up preferring Astarion (especially bc they did sleep together early on), but what he doesn't realise is the things he sees as flaws in himself are the reasons Zelaia adores him so much, and why he is the one she loves compared to Astarion. Gale would love to be perfect, sure, but he is so unfathomably himself to a fault, he can't put on an act the way Astarion can, and that's what makes him charming. Zelaia spent her whole life having to be perfect, she's been surrounded by people who act as they're supposed to - she adores Astarion as a friend, because the more critical, mean parts of him align with her own cynicism, but Gale is the person who showed her she's allowed to be silly, she's allowed to have fun with magic and be a version of herself she wants. Yeah, she loves who Astarion is underneath the mask, and they bond over the fact they have had to perform according to someone else's rules, but when it comes to being in love, he just doesn't hold a candle to Gale. A talkative, awkward human that doesn't realise when to shut up and says the wrong thing more often than he'd care for IS "perfect" to her...

(and besides, Astarion also falls for a quiet patient drow with an insane past that is depressingly relatable to his own, so truly, he and Zelaia would never have worked)
