#assume if i don't talk about it don't draw it that i don't like it don't ship it
You're the only one on this site who draws Scalene and Euclid with only one eye, lol. In most of the fanarts I've seen, they have two eyes and are very different physically from Bill. What do you think they look like, canonically speaking? Do you think they have only one eye or two?
I think they have one eye. There's no good reason for them to have two?
The only reason the headcanon exists is because somebody arbitrarily decided Bill's mom singing a lullaby about his "strange eye" meant "his eye is strange because there's only one of them!!!!"
rather than
y'know
because it can canonically see into a higher dimension.
If he had one eye less than is normal for his species, his mom wouldn't be singing a song about his "strange" eye, she'd be singing about his missing eye.
Nothing in canon backs up the idea that they have multiple eyes. And there were pleeenty of opportunities for Mr. All-Seeing Eye With The Strange Eye to demonstrate that he was raised thinking having one eye is abnormal. Or, hell, for him to mention when he talks about his mutation that it was rare to have one eye! Instead, the one time he ever canonically talks about humans having two eyes, what does he call it? "Deluxe."
You don't look at something you were raised to think is a standard feature and call it "deluxe."
The headcanon doesn't exist because anything in the lore around Bill implies having one eye is abnormal for his species; it exists because some human reader defaulted to assuming ~naturally~ having one eye must be considered "strange." Even for an alien species. For... some reason.

☕️ wild card (whatever you wanna talk about!)
It really annoys me that a whole segment of fandom treats Roberts' take on OP as 'the real one' compared to everything else in IDW1. I don't inherently dislike that he would choose to look at the inconsistent and bad writing OP got in phase one and go. Hm. Well. Let's quietly ignore that. I do in fact think choosing to ignore whatever the fuck Costa thought he was doing when Costa himself did not give a shit about his own work, for example, is what any reasonable writer would find themselves inclined to do, lmao.
But at the end of the day, in phases two and three, Barber wrote the bulk of Optimus' story, and took the reins on the character basically 100% outside some prequel flashback stuff. And he did not do what Roberts did. He chose to try and work the prior stuff into a characterization that re-contextualised it into something more coherent and self-aware of what a dick OP came across as a lot of the time. People will look at the super conventionally Heroic And Corrrect take Roberts did in a couple of (pre-canon!) stories, assume Barber must ALSO be doing this, see Barber do something different, and insist this proves Barber is an idiot with no understanding that his Optimus is frequently in the wrong. It's incredibly annoying, lol.
ALSO, why do so few people seem to grasp that the cop backstory was introduced in Chaos by Roberts..?? That was not Furman, Costa or Barber, all of whom I see it attributed to for some reason. Whenever people are like 'UGH I hate coptimus' but then are like 'I guess he was OK when JRo wrote him though' I'm just. Throws my hands up! THAT WAS FROM CHAOS. HE DID THAT. I suspect admitting this would complicate people's 'MTMTE is universally the most socially progressive IDW1 thing, everything else sucks and never does even One Thing as well or better' dichotomy some people are stuck in, or something. (And frankly, MTMTE is very happy in Shadowplay to run with the Good Cops Fighting Corruption stock storyline, which Barber would later on complicate a lot in the OP ongoing.)
tl;dr Roberts wrote an Optimus that was more in line with people's concept of G1 Optimus, but that doesn't mean his is the sole real 'correct' one in IDW1, next to all the takes that... draw on prior IDW1 stuff. Stop getting mad Barber didn't run with the way Roberts wrote him in a couple flashbacks, it's disingenuous.

Hello Niko! I'm actually really interested in Slavic mythology, but uhh I can't find any good places to study it from (it isn't as popular as Greek or Egyptian or something something myth so that's sad)
May I ask where you research/where you read about it?
Ahh, if you're looking to get into it, having a lack of sources is going to be a running theme, unfortunately. A lot of it has been lost due to christianization, and even the little we have on it varies significantly from region to region. Also, some of them are even reconstructed based off assumptions, so they might not even be the original myth. But, a lot of it has survived through customs, holidays and rituals! So that can be a neat little source.
I actually don't have any good sources as I'm very much still learning about it haha. I'm not very knowledgeable, honestly. I believe there are chronicles and epic poems you can look into (though I haven't looked through most just yet).
Now, personally (since I am slavic), I was told most of the stories growing up or was at least vaguely familiar with them, so I do draw some inspiration from that! As for books or such, I don't know much?? For introduction purposes I mostly used our textbooks that often talked about pre-christian slavic beliefs, albeit briefly and not in greater detail. Usually i look for as many sources online and try to get as much variety as possible. But I think it should be fairy easy to find books or something like that that just explain everything on a simpler level.
I also look for blogs that talk about slavic mythology or make art for it! It's especially cool when they are from different places, it gives me a wider perspective to work with.
Also, something you should keep in mind when you first start researching is that, unlike in Greek, Norse or Egyptian mythology for example, you will not find a fully developed and determined pantheon of gods with their sets of myths. Basically take that assumption and throw it out of the window for this LOL. While it's often speculated who was the supreme god, what the pantheon would be like etc, chances are that different gods were worshipped across different regions, and some have different functions in different places. So often you are looking at either assumed domains of a god, or several that vary greatly. So nothing is 100% sure.
But! What we lack in gods we have in folklore and fairytales! There is SO much stuff regarding those. Honestly those are a goldmine and you will definitely have more luck there.
To summarize: I mostly use my own experiences and stories I grew up with, holidays and customs, various sources I can find online or somewhere else and stories of other people :) If anyone has some other sources, feel free to drop them haha

[INCOMING TRANSMISSION]
*coughing and spitting noises* Oh Robo-God, never drink crude oil unless you absolutely have to. This stuff tastes even nastier than normal. Oh uh...this is SD-A, by the way. From the sounds of confusion, I'm guessing neither N nor V had access to the comms systems, which is...weird. It was nice being able to talk to someone other than your squadmates every once in a while! Kinda reminds me of how I and a few of the others would talk to each other through a can and string back at the manor, haha...
Actually, that poses a question. N and V, what's your best memory from back at the manor? Or, how much do you guys remember?
Question for Tera as well. Have you ever tried eating organic matter? Seeing as solver drones, which I'm assuming you are based on the mention of fangs and a tail despite you not coming up as a DD signature on my scans, are also partially organic. I was always curious if it meant you guys could eat stuff like meat.
Well uh, that's all I have for the moment. SD-A signing off.
[END OF TRANSMISSION]
"Oh. Well... I guess my best memories were with V. I don't know If I remember everything, those days are kinda blurry. But what I do remember, we were all pretty close- even J." He clears his throat after saying her name. 'If I were to pick one, it would be when V, Tessa and I would sit down and draw together!"
V smiles softly, before sighing. "Yeah, I'll agree on that, you were never any good. Hah."
"Ew gross! No!" She reals back in disgust before stopping and thinking about it. "Huh, I guess I've never tried."
"Mom! Hey Mom?!"
"What?"
"Can we eat meat?"
"We can, I wouldn't recommend it though, it tastes like garbage and takes forever to clear from your system."
"Guess we can."

Hello! Random whipper snipper! Share a WIP of your work!
ooh, with pleasure. six the musical araleyn fanart? in the year 2k24? more likely than you think xDD
i realize this looks finished, but technically i'm still deciding whether to add a background or not lol. still, for the sake of sharing a proper WIP, here's a line or two from an araleyn brainworm WIP that i started reworking yesterday (mild tw for religious guilt and period-typical internalized homophobia from aragon's pov):
She remembers sharing her bed with Anne at Henry's behest, remembers the nights of tossing and turning and trying not to think about Anne asleep next to her-- remembers waking up to dark hair spilling across her pillow and the press of blood-warm bosoms against her own, softer than sin, as hot as the Devil, remembers lying still as death, mouthing prayers into the heat of Anne's neck like an act of penance.

One of the things I love about Glass Onion is the way that the camera and music work together to tell nonverbal jokes.
Like when Benoit basically has to hold Miles' hand to get him to the conclusion that someone reset the puzzle box Benoit lies about receiving:
Benoit asks if it's possible that someone reset the box, and Miles then declares that someone must have reset the box like it is this huge reveal - and the camera zooms out while the music subtly swells as though he really has figured out something smart, when actually he literally restated what Benoit just said.

Hello, I would like to address some things recently that have bothered me:
Please don't ask me for art requests. Unless I ask for suggestions on what to draw, normally no, I won't do it. Even if you don't necessarily have ill intent/aren't forceful about it and ask nicely, it's rude and unbecoming for a stranger to go around begging random artists for free artwork. You either learn to commission others for their hard work, or learn to put the pencil in your hands.
I don't allow usage of my artwork on profiles, even with credit. You're fine to use them as desktop backgrounds, etc - places that don't involve printing them out or reuploading them. It makes me deeply uncomfortable to see my artwork being used to 'identify' one's self on SNS if that makes sense, of course there are exceptions: Like if I drew certain artwork for them, and I'm aware I can't entirely prevent this as long as my artwork is on the internet, and as long as people simply don't care about my feelings, but to the ones that do have the capacity to understand: Please refrain from doing so. Also, credit should not be used as a free card for you to do what you want with others' intellectual property unless they gave you the ok - unauthorized use even with credit, is still unauthorized use.
This is more specific and might offend and upset people which I apologize for in advance but please do not make my Lucilius art about other characters and ships when they're not mentioned or necessarily being alluded to... and especially when there's no indication of me enjoying the ship on my blog at all. Please also don't say stuff along the vein of 'Lucilius wouldn't do this in canon but (compliments anyway as if it cancels out the previous unwarranted statement)' on my ship art. I find it rather rude and upsetting. I read my tags even when I don't seem to be reactive or responsive. I see this stuff. It's disheartening. It makes me feel bad. I should be allowed a space where I can freely be deluded and draw what I want even if it doesn't directly align with others' view of canon, if it upsets people, they have the necessary means to avoid and ignore my work. What I draw isn't intended to be an accurate representation of lore. That's why I refer to them as delusions or draw them under the premise of an alternative world where things have occurred differently. I recognize that the tags I saw also weren't carrying ill intent at all and perhaps thought they were being playful, but they still left a bad flavor in my mouth. There are just some comments better kept to oneself. And besides, there's already a lot of fanwork for other ships for you to enjoy out there.
That is all. Thank you for your love and kind words towards my drawings.

I made these sketches the week SOTM launched, and I didn't think about posting them at the time. I recently looked at them again and thought "hmm, why not".
In my own way, I decided to add a *little* color to make it a little more nice, and I edited the image *just* a little, and boom, here it is. My Riley Wells design.
There's not much to say about the process of creating her design. I only used the portrait you find in the game as a reference, and I made a design of her at the time she joined JDS and then Gent. There's not much to say, really.
These were sketches made after I made an initial sketch of her to put the idea of her design on paper, and were made to help solidify and test out her design better. I haven't drawn her since.
So, yeah. They aren't much, and I don't have much to say about them. But I wanted to eventually show my design that I made of her. Plus, those sketches turned out quite nice,so there's that.
Other than a small idea that I don't know when I'll do, I don't have anything in mind that could result in drawing Riley again in the future. But hey, in case one day I end up wanting to draw her again, at least I have a design prepared for the occasion.
As a bonus, here is the first sketch I made of her. No editing or colors.

alright im giving in im finally asking. what in the everloving fuck is narines
HIIIII HELENA honestly I'm so glad you asked I think you'd love them but BASICALLYYYYY one of my mutuals, hella, @tbos-main, has this really cool original fantasy wip, the blood of serpents, which I am OBSESSED with so I do fandom post about it like any other media, and two of the characters are nate and rin. well. naithairan and herines technically but I'm on nickname basis with them. and I can explain tbos in more detail but since you asked about narines specifically, they are two characters who are very much on opposing sides of the central conflict and in a way that IS irreconcilable like. it has to be genuine all consuming hate it's bad. but they're also narrative foils and parallels and whatnot and outside of the main ideological difference in regards to the central conflict, they are very similar people in a very fucked up way, they're both martyr figures with a lot of religious themes, they both have had to learn the language of violence well, they both are willing to go to unfathomably low depths of morality and monstrousness in the pursuit of protecting the people they love, they're both incredibly calculating and callous, and so they have this INSANEEE dynamic that is very much "I see me in you I see everything I hate about myself in you I need to kill you because I need to be killed but yet I cannot kill you because that would be like taking a knife to myself and we recognize each other deeply and intimately in a very specific way no one else can and I HATEE you for it" and so like. they should fuck about that. obviously.

While yes I draw Baatar really buff to please my ‘muscular glasses man enjoyer’ brain, I also have genuine plot and character reasons for it. Like I love the idea that he still comes across as unassuming as any sort of genuine threat bc he’s a non bender, so he coasts on that societal presumption meanwhile he’d just... crush your spine instead lol
