satoru gojo x f!reader
**part of my debut concert event
**part one of this fic here icymi (read before or its kinda confusing)
**part of my satoru as taylor swift songs series
content: satoru and your parents are annoying, like in the last part, readers mom just says a bunch of mean shit (including comments on body image, etc), gojo being defensive of his wife but also corny asf, babies megumi + tsumiki having lil nightmares and wanting to sleep w their parents
an: KING OF MY HEART IS ONE OF MY FAV FICS EVER. so glad the pookie who requested this asked for it bc I was so excited writing it. also corny lil enchanted lyrics are at the end. mister satoru gojo is enchanted to meet you and ur lil babies megumi and tsumiki just love you
“Dr. L/N?”
You look up from the computer, breaking away from your sheer focus of charting all the patients you just saw in the past hour (nine patients - which sounds mediocre, but in actuality is insanity on earth).
Because when they’re sick, their parents ask a lot of questions. Which you understand and always honor - but that means you’re always running on a back log, running from one room to the next with no breaks in between. Satoru thinks that you’ll collapse on the floor one day while doing it. And you tell him that he’s praying on your downfall.
“Yes, Sarah? What’s up?”
“Your husband’s here to have lunch with you.”
“Ah. I still haven’t caught up on my charting and I really need to-”
You feel a hand on your shoulder, your senior advisor, Dr. Aoki, giving you a warm smile. She’s almost thirty years your senior - soft wrinkles and grey patches spread throughout her hair.
And she really, really loves Satoru. Which you know because she doesn’t shut up about him, always going on about how sweet he is.
“Go. Have lunch with your husband. I’ll finish off for you.”
“Ah. Dr. Aoki, I can’t let you. Plus, you don’t even know-”
“You take detailed notes. And I’m old, but I’m sure I can figure it out. Now go eat lunch with your sweet husband before I do it for you.”
You smile, giving her hand a squeeze, before dragging your feet to the breakroom - suddenly hyperaware of the tension in the back of your knees, your shoulders, and the back of your eyes. Satoru’s waiting for you at the center table - two glass bento boxes and two iced coffee’s sitting on the table.
He’s scrolling aimlessly on his phone and you’re more than positive that he’s playing Cut the Rope. A game Megumi begged him to download, but now he plays more than Megumi. Which just pisses Megumi off, because Satoru plays so far ahead in the game that Megumi can’t even remember which level it was he stopped at.
You look down at the cup of iced coffee, Satoru’s handwriting inscribed on the side.
pookie <;3
Bastard. He knows you hate it when you call him that.
Satoru looks up and smacks his phone down at the table as you take his side, placing your head flat against the clear, white table. Satoru immediately directs his hand to the back of your hair, his fingers soothing into the tense muscles in the back of your neck.
“Hello my little workaholic.”
“Good afternoon my little pain in the ass.”
He laughs, lifting your head up as he opens up the boxes, sliding forward the food he made and sticking the fork in your hand. You look down at the line up - egg fried rice and a wild assortments of fruits and vegetables on the side. They’re all cut into sweet little shapes - the cucumbers in hearts, the strawberries in flowers.
Right. You had tasked Satoru with making Megumi and Tsumiki’s lunches for one week when you were on the night call. When you had returned, all he did was scold you for making very boring lunches for Megumi and Tsumiki.
Granted, you thought they weren’t half bad. You always made sure to give them a little treat - strawberry gummies for Tsumiki and sour candy for Megumi - and left sweet little notes in their lunch boxes, saying you were proud of them, that Megumi was going to do great on his presentation, and that Tsumiki looked pretty today.
Satoru resolved the situation by heading to the store and buying the special little cutouts, shiny new metal tin boxes for Megumi and Tsumiki, and even glittery stationery to leave them both notes.
Yeah and he never let you make their lunch again. He’d often drop by to the office to eat with you, since he knew that was the only time you would eat anything, and bring you by the third box he arranged with theirs in the morning.
“Hard day, my love?”
“Yeah, Satoru. And it’s not even over yet.”
He places the fork in your hand again, instructing you to eat as you keep talking, tasking himself with mixing up the layers of the coffee he brought you.
“What’s the point of working so hard? Didn’t you marry me for my money?”
“Well, obviously but-”
“Hey!”
“What?”
“That’s so rude to admit. You should keep that type of stuff to yourself.”
“Okay, Satoru. You married me as a cover for your girlfriend and-”
“Stop throwing that in my face! So you have one girlfriend and suddenly you’re the bad-”
“It is when you’re married!”
You both laugh, Satoru ruffling your hair, as he opens up the second box, sliding it towards you as you keep eating.
“You don’t want, Toru?”
“No. They’re both for you. You really do work too hard, Y/N.”
“Well. Our parents could cut us off - we don’t exactly do everything they want. And I want to be self sufficient and be a good role model for-”
“Tsumiki and Megumi. I know, my love. I’m just saying.”
You lean into Satoru’s touch, placing your aching head against his shoulder as he leans over, pressing a kiss to the top of your forehead. You finish off your own box (and Satoru’s) and down your iced coffee (and half of Satoru’s, before he starts scolding you about healthy caffeine intakes).
He gives you a sweet kiss goodbye, giving soft smiles to the rest of your coworkers, as you buckle in for the rest of your shift.
“Satoru.”
“Hm.”
“Look at what my mom texted me.”
He untangles himself from his position - which is just using you as a third pillow - and peaks his head up, squinting his eyes at your phone in the dark.
Your mom, heinous bitch she is, sent you a text reminding you about all the things you need to do for your dinner with the Gojo’s tomorrow.
Wear a dress. Make sure it’s appropriate, but enough to keep a guy like Satoru interested. You don’t want your husband running off just because you’re boring him.
Make sure to wear the wedding ring Satoru gave you, not the engagement. You’re going to look tacky otherwise.
Fresh flowers, that haven’t bloomed yet. Don’t embarrass me by bringing flowers that’ll die in a day.
And please don’t leave your hair fully down. It washes you out.
Satoru glares at the camera, looking up at your face. He finds it hard to read you in situations like this. Because in all honesty, he knows that you hate your parents. But he doesn’t miss the way you act differently when it comes to them.
Because when you’re mad at Satoru for not picking up Tsumiki on time or at Megumi for not telling you he had a project due tomorrow until nine pm, you get a reasonable amount of mad. Pink in the cheeks, a little bit of scolding, followed by fixing the problem and talking it out.
But with them you, you don’t really talk about it. And he’s not sure if it’s because he’s not privy to the conversations that you have with them, but for some reason, he thinks there aren’t any. And that you just take it, when it’s them.
Which he understands. Too well. That’s part of the reason he’s with you, in this bed right now. Cuddled up in your arms, pressing lazy kisses around your shoulder.
Because his parents asked you to marry him. Because you told him you didn’t mind if he kept his own life outside of it, that you were just doing what you had to do.
And now that he…loves you, parts of it all make him sad. That you’d take someone telling you what to do - telling you that you don’t look good with your hair down when you look good all the time and that you’re tacky or boring or-
“Hey. Y/N.”
“Hm, Satoru?”
“You know I…love you right? For real?”
“Yeah. You told me.”
“But like, for real, okay? Not just because we’re…married or whatever. I actually really, really love you. You’re very pretty and you’re always so good with Megumi and Tsumiki and you’re so good at your job and-”
You stop him in his tracks by cupping his face in his ands, quirking your head to the side. You lean down and peck at his lips, pressing your fingers into his dimples.
“I love you too, Satoru but what’s this about?”
He frowns, placing his head back in your lap as you start running your hands through his white locks of hair, soft to the touch. You can feel his cheeks are warm from his face lying against your bare legs and you can’t help but smile at the fact that he’s blushing. Even after one year of marriage (and eight months of real marriage), he’s still nervous around you.
“I don’t know. Your mom’s just stupid. You’re not boring or tacky and you look very pretty with your hair down.”
“Thank you, Toru. For getting so offended on my behalf. But I don’t care, let’s go to bed, yeah?”
He nods, shuffling the sheets around you as he sprawls across the bed. One thing about Satoru, he has to touch you when he’s sleeping.
Not in the…dirty way. It could be the coldest night of the year and he has his entire body weight on you, treating you like a stuffed animal he was sleeping with. Or it’s the hottest night of the year and he’s as far away as he can be from you - just placing his hand on your forearm or tangling one of his legs with yours.
Touchy. Even when he’s asleep.
After not even five minutes of sleep, you feel a tapping on your nose, your features crinkling up from the sensation.
“Toru. Quit tickling me.”
He murmurs back incoherently, tangling around in the sheets as a response. Right. Satoru also sleeps like the walking dead. And he can and will sleep anywhere and everywhere, almost instantly. It’s actually a talent.
“Um. That wasn’t him.”
You flutter your eyes open to find Megumi, standing awkwardly at your side. You immediately sit up, clicking on the light as Satoru starts groaning behind you, smacking his hand on the bed to get you to turn the light off. You look over at the clock and realize it’s well past three, meaning Megumi should have been asleep hours ago.
“Megs. You okay?”
“Uh, yeah. But Tsumiki, she’s like crying a lot. Usually, what I do works but she just won’t stop.”
You shake Satoru at your side, his eyes finally fluttering open as he looks at you and Megumi in confusion.
“Megumi-chan. You better be interrupting our sleep for something good.”
“Satoru, stop it. Go get Tsumiki. Now. I think she’s crying.”
Satoru immediately stands up, stalking out of the room as you turn back to Megumi, taking his tiny hands in yours. He looks like he usually does - blank expression on his face, avoiding eye contact, tiredness on his face.
You wrap one of your hands around his cheek and squeeze, feeling his skin warm under your touch.
“What do you think happened, Megs?”
“She had a bad dream. Usually, we kind of just stay with each other till it stops. But, it didn’t really work.”
“Have you had them while you were here? Or her?”
“Yeah sometimes.”
You can feel your heart clench in your chest and you immediately wrap Megumi in your arms, brushing your hands through his soft, black hair. You can still smell the shampoo in his hair from earlier, the fresh smell springing into your nose. They should be coming to you. Not each other. Megumi’s only five. And she’s just seven.
“Megumi. You know you can come to us about that stuff. Both of you. And you should be because we know how to help you and-”
You stop talking as Satoru walks into the room, craning your head to the side to survey the situation. Satoru’s carrying Tsumiki in his arms, something he doesn’t do very often, and you can hear her soft sniffles as he places her on the bed between you, rubbing circles into her back.
You take the cup of water on the nightstand (that Satoru leaves out for you everyday so you can stay hydrated) and hand it to her, directing her to calm her breaths. She’s shaking so hard and her eyes are so pink that she can barely hold the glass, Satoru taking it from her hands and tilting her head up so she can drink it.
You look over at Megumi, his eyes twitching as he looks at Tsumiki, and you direct him to sit on the bed next to you, right next to Tsumiki and in between you and Satoru.
You never really know what to do in situations like this. And neither does Satoru. I mean hell, you’re only twenty-three and Satoru’s only twenty-four. And they haven’t been your kids for too long.
Other parents, the ones who come into your practice, talk about how they know somethings wrong. They can feel it in their gut. Their parental instinct. But you don’t have any of that, especially not with Tsumiki and Megumi.
And you know it’s not something you can learn and something that just comes from being their parents, but you sincerely wish it was. Because Tsumiki and Megumi deserve to have someone who can read them like that, who knows what’s wrong with them, and talks for them when they don’t know how. And-
Satoru opens up his arms, with Tsumiki crawls into his lap and curls herself up against his chest. She looks so small, barely covering his entire frame as she hiccups into his chest, pushing the back of her hand against his eyes.
Satoru beckons Megumi to join her and he awkwardly crawls up, the two of them nestled in Satoru’s arms. Maybe you spoke too soon. Because it always seems like Satoru knows what he’s doing.
“You too, goofy.”
You roll your eyes as you scoot closer to them, laying your head against Satoru’s shoulders as you start running your hands through Tsumiki’s hair, rubbing soft circles into the small of her back like Satoru was earlier.
“Hi Miki.”
“H-hi Y/N.”
“How you feeling, sweet girl?”
“O-okay.”
You soften your hands in her hair, focusing on braiding the ends as you talk, the three of them hanging on to every word you say.
“Miki, Megs. I know you’ve…been together for a long time. Before me and Satoru came around. And I’m sure you have your own ways of…being there for each other. But, you can let us be there for you too, you know?”
You feel Tsumiki stiffen under your touch and you pull back, holding the braid in place on your head.
“I don’t mean to let each other go. You’re siblings and that’s one of the most important relationships you can have. But just know, Satoru and I can be smart sometimes. Well, I can. I don’t really know about him.”
“Hey.”
Tsumiki and Megumi laugh, which stops Satoru’s protests all together. It’s working. And Satoru’s jealous of you, because as always, you know the right thing to say. To get them to smile again, tell you what’s wrong. And sure, you’ve always had that effect on Satoru but he loves that you can do it with them too. You’ve clearly got this parenting thing more figured out than him, he thinks.
“But, we can help you too, you know? I’m a big girl. I can deal with whatever you give me.”
Tsumiki turns to the side, crawling out of Satoru’s lap as she crawls into yours, squeezing herself in your arms.
“Th-thanks, Y/N. But maybe not right now?”
“Whenever you want, okay? Let’s just go to bed now, it’s late.”
“Can I sleep with you, Y/N? And Satoru?”
Satoru leans forward, squeezing Tsumiki’s hand in hers as he nods, opening up the covers for her. Megumi awkwardly looks between you and Satoru and you catch on fast, signaling for him to join you under the covers as well. The four of you are squished together, Tsumiki clinging on to you and Megumi clinging on to Satoru.
They both fall asleep fast and you give a weary look to Satoru in the dark, which he returns with a smile.
You hate leaving at a time like this. And you hate your parents and even Gojo’s parents for making you come to a stupid dinner like this.
Your kids, that they don’t know about, need you. You had tried your best to make Tsumiki comfortable, making her a stack of warm, strawberry pancakes and letting her pick what you guys ate for lunch.
And when you had to leave her with Nanami and Shoko to go see the Gojo’s, you swear you could feel your heart clench at the thought of leaving her. And Megumi. And of the two of them being uncomfortable without you there.
You could tell from the look in Satoru’s eyes that he shared your sentiments, his gaze weary as he said goodbye, lingering by the door until you two really had to leave. And then you both made your trek to the Gojo Estate.
And god do you hate it here. In all but ten minutes of dinner, your mother, assfucking clown she was, had already found ten different things to pick on.
Your hair has split ends, you should cut it.
You should slow down on the food.
You could have worn a more flattering color.
Every spiky comment she makes, Satoru squeezes his hand in yours under the table, grounding you in the moment. If it wasn’t for him and the soft looks he was giving you every few minutes, you’re sure you would have broken the centerpiece in the middle of the table by now.
“Say, Y/N, Satoru.”
You look up to find Mr. Gojo beaming at you, the smile not meeting his eyes. You can feel Satoru’s hand tense in yours under the table and you know it’s your turn to protect him from his dad.
“Did you start trying for kids?”
“Dad.”
“What, Satoru? It’s an important question. You guys have been married for a year now and surely there’s no better time than now to start trying.”
You can feel your mouth dry at the thought. Kids. Kids of your own. Like, a crying, pooping baby - half parts you and half parts Satoru.
How in the world could they think you were ready for that? Because in all honesty, Satoru’s your husband in name but he feels like your boyfriend.
You’ve been together for eight months. You haven’t gone on a vacation together or met his college best friend and you don’t know what his favorite smoothie flavor is or what the first car he drove was and they want you to start popping out kids?
You and Satoru aren’t ready for kids. And really, you already have two kids. That need you right now. And you have all the time in the world to have more and you really, really just like things the way they are. For now, and-
“They’ll get working on it.”
You feel your eyes boggle out of your head as you crane your neck to look at your mom, a self-assured smile placed on her face. She can’t really be serious, can she?
“Oh, how sweet! A grandchild. Oh, I do hope it’s a boy. So we can pass on the Gojo name and all.”
It’s Satoru’s turn to glare at his mother and you’re sure that he has the same bitter taste in his mouth as you. Sure, they were the reason you guys got married but they had no right to treat you guys like this. Like you were put together to make some offspring for them to fawn over.
“Although, I wouldn’t mind a girl. Boys can be rowdy and insensitive.” says Mr. Gojo, a matter-of-fact tone in his words.
“That’s not true. Boys can be sensitive too. You just have to raise them right.” you respond, muttering the words under your breath.
Megumi’s sweet and sensitive. He always avoids stomping on flowers growing out of the cracks of the cement and he always writes cards for his teachers on holiday’s and always says please and thank you after every little thing you and Satoru do for him, even if it is under his breath.
“Well, I hope it’s a boy. Girls come with attitude.” your dad responds, the implication in his tone clear.
“No daughter of ours would take back-handed comments like that.”
Because Tsumiki’s never done that. Because Satoru remembers the day someone tried to pick on her in her class and all she did was calmly respond. Stand her ground, surely but firmly. Something he’s sure that she learned from you. And to think someone could dismiss that off as attitude is so fucking-
You squeeze Satoru’s hand under the table, signaling him to stop. Because he’s being rude. Because he shouldn’t talk back to your father even if he’s wrong and-
“Satoru. Stop.” you whisper, awkwardly eyeing the four of them as he deflates.
The four of you awkwardly sit in silence, the forks clicking against the plates. Satoru’s crushing your hand into oblivion under the table and you can see that he’s agitated from the way his shoulders are all scrunched up. And when his dad talks next, he really can’t hold it in anymore.
“Satoru, son. All you have to do take her to bed one time to pass on the Gojo na-”
Satoru smacks his fist against the table, the glassware making a loud noise against the surface. You look over to find Satoru smoldering, the way he often did when he was near his dad.
“Don’t talk about my wife like that. She’s not some thing for you to use. You can try that shit on anyone else but you know damn well I’m not letting you do it to her.”
Mrs. Gojo’s features scrunch up in frustration, a pinched look on her face as she starts massaging the bridge of her nose. Satoru stands up, pulling you up with him as he stomps out, dragging you out with him.
You two drive in silence the entire way home. Satoru’s still smoldering in his drivers seat, jaw tight against his skin as he clenches his fists on the steering wheel, knuckles going white. And you’re unsure of what you can say to him to ease it, make him feel better.
He parks the car in the driveway, leaning his head against the seat to look up through the sunroof, the stars glittering in the sky above you. He makes no motions to get out of the car, the engine and lights still turned on despite the fact that you and Satoru were home.
“Y/N.”
“Hm, Satoru?”
“You-you okay?”
“What? Yeah. Are you?”
He doesn’t respond and instead loosens his tie, the fabric hanging from the sides of his collar.
“I just…hate them. So much. Why would we rush having a child when we aren’t ready? And who are they to talk about you like that? Like all I keep you around for is to bear my children.”
You’re not sure what to say so you snake your hand into his, leaning over the glove box to lean onto his shoulder. You can feel him deflate under you, leaning his head on top of yours as he presses his hand against your waist, his hands rubbing back and forth on the fabric.
“Satoru.”
“Yeah, love?”
“You feel like my boyfriend, right now. I know you’re my husband but…we’ve only been together for eight months. And I know it’s weird to say but…I’d like to have a kid with you someday just…not now.”
His hand comes up, angling your face up so you’re looking at him, a big smile spread across his face. You can feel your cheeks burning from the admission and you clench your eyes shut to avoid seeing the teasing look on Satoru’s face.
“Y/N. You’d want to have kids with me?”
You nod and Satoru’s face splits into a big smile, his hands shaking in yours.
“Well, yeah. It would be cute, when the time is right. Megumi and Tsumiki can have a little sibling and it’ll be like…a little us.
“A little us?”
“Your nose, my eyes, hopefully all of my looks and none of your annoyingness.”
“You’re so sweet, Y/N. I don’t know how I ever lucked out with such a charming girl like you.” he responds, sarcasm dripping from his voice. You laugh in response, beaming at him as you talk on.
“I love you, Satoru. And I’d love to have kids with you but we’re just…we already have two kids and I think they need us right now. They haven’t opened up yet and-”
“I know, sweet. I agree. Trust me, I’d love nothing more than putting a baby in your right here, right now in this car but-”
“Pervert.”
“Why are you so rude? Every word is like a bullet wound in my chest.”
You lean over, pressing a kiss to his chest as you lean back and glare at him. He smiles at you, a sweet look on his face.
“What was that for?”
“You said bullet wound in your chest. I was just kissing your ego better.”
He leans forward, cupping your face as he kisses you, hanging off the ends of your lips as he squeezes his face in your hands. He pulls apart, pressing kisses all over your face as he talks, his words making your cheeks burn.
“You’re so-”
Kiss.
“Damn cute.”
Kiss.
“I hate you sometimes.”
Kiss.
“When we have kids, I hope they’re all like you. Pretty eyes, soft hair, snarky attitude. She’ll be so easy to love, all goofy and idiotic like you.”
“She, Satoru?”
“Oh, she’s totally going to be a girl. My three girls. You, Tsumiki, and her.”
“Sounds like you have it all planned out already?”
“Well, I’m waiting. For when you’re ready and I’m ready and all that. But yeah. I’ve already seen how our entire life is going to play out. You and I are going to grow old together. Sick it to our parents. Have the type of love kids dream about. All that lovey-dovey stuff.”
You and Satoru, hands pressed together, pad into the dark of the house, slowly climbing up the stairs. When you amble into your bed room, you can hear soft snores in your bed - Tsumiki and Megumi fast asleep under your sheets. There’s a tiny little sticky-note pressed to the light switch, which you and Satoru both squint at.
They want to sleep with "their parents”. Their words, not ours. - Shoko
You and Satoru quickly peel out of your clothes and climb under the sheets - Satoru leaning over to press a kiss to all three of your heads before fluttering his own eyes shut.
And you hate to say it, because all in all the night wasn’t perfect, but you really, really don’t want to let it go. Every part of this night is…sparkling in your mind. Satoru defending you, telling you that he loves you, that he wants to have kids with you. You-
You count yourself lucky. That you don’t have to wonder if Satoru is in love with someone else or what he thinks about you or any other thing.
Because you know the person he’s waiting on is you.

Girls Night
Class 1-A Girls + fem!reader; platonic/best friends relationship, fluff, childhood nostalgia, mentions of growing up (thematically), sleepover clichés !!
notes: ive been listening to a lot of those mha youtube playlists recently? and they’ve been getting me in the mood for some fluffy friendship clichés !! wishing my friends would do this kinda stuff with me fr, but we’ll cope thru some self-indulgent fanfiction instead :’)
heres the playlist i was listening to while writing this -> https://youtu.be/C8-H_hBd2rY?si=6Kjg5temq2wCsv_R
Tumblr media
You sat in the common room of the dorms, your favorite pair of pj pants adorning your legs.
The commons were currently booming with laughter and music, chatter bouncing from wall to wall.
With UA having finally decided to give you hero students a “rest week,” the class 1-A girls (more specifically, Mina) deemed it essential to have a sleepover at least one of the nights.
So, here you were, embracing the loving chaos around you.
You leaned forward on the couch, reaching with one hand to try and grab your phone, but were yanked back by the invisible girl trying to finish doing your hair.
“Y/N, I told you to SIT. STILL.” Tohru said, poking your back jokingly.
“Fine, fine,” you whined, resuming your position against the couch, a smile forming on your face. “I was just trying to check something real quick-”
“You can check it later!” Mina shouted, “Now's our time to have fun! And we better be enjoying it to the fullest after all that arguing I had to do with Aizawa-sensei!”
Through her shouts, you can see her dancing to the soundtrack you’d all contributed to.
Although everyone wanted to pitch-in with some of their favorites, Kyouka inevitably had the last say in what would make it to the final product.
And, at least to you, she’d done a pretty good job.
The songs blaring were all nostalgia-ridden, upbeat, and reminded you of some distant childhood memory that you couldn't quite recall.
As you watched Mina dance to her heart's content across the room, you thought for a moment that you could almost see a shadow of your younger self dancing along with her to these songs.
Sitting on the ground below you, leaning against the couch, Momo laughed at Mina’s antics while carefully touching up the polish on Ochaco’s nails.
“I’m sure Aizawa-sensei doesn’t mind our little party, as long as we clean up properly in the morning.”
“Maybe we could convince the boys to clean up for us,” you joked.
“No way!” Ochaco giggled back. “I can imagine Bakugo’s screams already.”
You could imagine the blonde busting out his lungs before you even finished asking your question to him,
“Maybe we just don't ask him,” you suggest.
Suddenly the weight on the couch shifted, as Mina plopped down beside you, grabbing a sip of water before adding to the conversation.
“Trust me, I don't think any of those boys will help out voluntarily.”
The topic carried on as you girls debated who, out of the 1-A boys, would be kind enough to help you clean up come morning.
Although some decisions were unanimous, several times a few of you would get into mock-arguments, standing up for your "knowledge" of your peers.
As things between Kyouka and Mina were getting intense over whether or not Kaminari would help, the sweet smell of delicious food suddenly came wafting towards the group.
You looked over at the hall to see Tsu standing there, returning from her earlier escapade to the kitchen.
“I thought we were missing some snacks, so I made what I could. Ribbit.” Tsu chimed, holding a tray filled with an assortment of you girls’ favorite treats.
“TSU- YOU. ARE. THE. BEST!” Tohru squealed, releasing her death grip on your hair.
You saw her onesie race towards the snacks instantaneously , and took that as a sign that your new up-do was likely complete - for now, at least.
With all your mouths full of laughter, messed up song lyrics, and half-eaten snacks, the night carried on until sleep eventually caught up to you all one by one.
As you finally flopped onto the couch, eyes fluttering asleep, you found yourself grateful for the night you'd had.
This is what little-Y/N always dreamt of. Thank you, my best friends.. for making this dream of hers come true.
That night, you went into your night of dreams with a smile on your face, and with a little girl watching you from a distance, smiling and over you from afar.

432 and Fools Garden
OH, hi @xmangokun, thanks for your comment on Into The Vortex and that's so great you've associated Fools Garden with 432 before! This reminded me that I never posted this movement test of him on here - and yes, I've straight up decided that's the guy's voice and so many songs of theirs resonate with him, I feel. Here, have a list..! Save the World Tomorrow I've drawn a sketch before where 432 annoyed his coworkers on full purpose with some karaoke, singing this one right in their face. The perfect excuse to tell them "f**k you" on, ahem, accident. Outta Love If I were the kind to do full song animatics, he would be singing this one while wandering the hallways, once again looking for the exit. Cold He would sing this one to himself, and he would sing it to you, too. Innocence That's the song from my video up there. If I did a full video, it would switch to his Settings self halfway through. Highest Mountain The song that goes with my "Into the Vortex" picture. 432's last moments as an employee, or his first ones as Settings. Closer (2001 Version) What I love about Fools Garden is that a lot of their songs are melancholic, but often also uplifting and full of hope and wonder. Probably They can also be very cheeky and a bit silly. Just like our 432 here. Bighouse Pyromaniac Casually singing about burning everything down? Also very him. Don't Speak This is such a great cover version of that song and also the type of thing 432 would sing at his coworkers to annoy them. Electrify I've drawn a comic page for this one, of Settings bugging the Narrator... but also not actually bugging him. Ordinary Man Settings432 (Post-Parable) would also sing this one at the Narrator because he knows it hits a nerve, and the Narrator will pap him for it. One Fine Day Settings432 has mentioned in a doodle somewhere on here that the "Freedom Ending has great acoustics", and this is the song he tested that on. Fireflies This one's just lovely, and wise, and once in a while my Settings can be like that. Yes, really. He can be wise. SOMEtimes. Reason As much as Settings loves company, he IS aware that the Player and the inhabitants of the Parable will always be opposing forces in a way. Rise and Fall This is just a calm and quiet and slightly haunting song, I like it, so I'm adding it here. Lemon Tree This is a great, newer version of the song, definitely one our 432 here would sing as well. And here's some more assorted ones I don't really associate with 432 as much, lyrics-wise, but I still like them a lot: Wild Days (2009 version) Does Anybody Know Silence Dreaming (2009 version) Emily

tuesday again 7/16/2024
how your backyard hurricane go, the houston area? pretty good it doesn't seem
to be clear other than losing everything in my fridge and developing some mold around the windowframes IM personally fine and so are the girls and so is the lair. we lost power sunday afternoon and got it back friday morning (upside down smiley emoji x16)
listening
THREE CANONICALLY BISEXUAL CLUB BANGERS!!! also, trying out a new thing with spotify and youtube videos for songs bc my readership is about 70/30 and i want to streamline the process of actually listening to new music for ppl. it must be really annoying this week but that's bc there's three songs. sorry. it will rarely be this long
anyway.
ANXIETY by Lilyisthatyou is new to me, off the spotify autogenerated dance playlist. a chiller groove in the spelling-things-out genre of dance music. VERY flashy-lights music vid fyi
Why do I feel so alone? Does it show That I'm dancing to fill the void with pretty girls and pretty boys?
youtube
i know about kesha's joyride bc i happen to be an alive queer woman. im SO happy kesha is also alive and making music more regularly. this one is canonically bisexual bc kesha is bisexual. also a really flashy-lights lyric video. the most classically recession-pop/early KESHA sound of all three tuesdaysongs this week. im always fascinated when an accordion shows up.
Rev my engine ’til you make it purr Keep it kinky, but I come first Beep-beep, bitch, I'm outside Get in, loser, for the joyride
youtube
thank u new releases spotify playlist. also canonically bisexual bc the singer is, also an early KESHA feel but she is a metal artist first and foremost. very fun to headbang to at a stop light. i don't totally Love how it's an emasculating song but given how dudes in the metal scene generally are? i think she should make it more emasculating actually
Take you down a peg (And peg and peg and peg) If you're a macho man then beg (And beg and beg and beg) Bend you over the bed (The bed the bed the bed) It's time to take you down a peg (And peg and peg and peg)
youtube

fun fact i still haven't seen this movie. i got this from the library the day before the hurricane proper and it gave me a really lovely two hours of not thinking about the active hurricane the day after. enormous format photographs! full-length shots of every look! ithe little personal notes from each designer were so fun to read, and i think this genuinely healed my heart a little. everyone was so excited to go into detail about what choices they made and what inspired them, and even though i would have loved more specific construction details, specific fiber types, and full-length shots of the Back of every look, i recognize i am a freak.
-
watching
watched a truly bonkers assortment of films at my bestie's house this week. her husband is big into godzilla and i sat down not really paying attention or planning to pay attention to Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire (2024, dir. Wingard) but found myself actually paying attention. i unfortunately was a character i hate, Person Who Stops The Movie Halfway Through To Demand A Recap. loved these guys, whatever the fuck they were
Tumblr media
the most fun thing about this movie is that it is not a silent film but it acts like one. there are long, long stretches of movie without dialogue bc all the political action is happening between a bunch of giant monkeys. this is going to sound like im damning it with faint praise but they really thought carefully about directorial and artistic choices here! there was a vision and they executed it! it's fun to look at and not just because there's a big monkey in most of the shots!

Tumblr media
got a look at characters for the new fire-themed land coming up this fall. ppl are understandably big mad that the land is based on Ring of Fire cultures and everyone is paper-white. i think it is correct to be mad and ask them to do better, and they have tweaked designs before release before, however, i don't think this will bring about a sea change in gacha games.
i am rolling along clearing out map markers and achievement hunting and my GOD are there a lot of time-gated achievements in inazuma (electricity-themed legally-not-japan). so so so many of them i originally got halfway through or did 1/5 and then wandered off bc i didn't realize there was a quest or achievement locked behind doing something for three or five days in a row. i now have a post-it on the corner of my monitor with nine different things i have to keep checking in on this week. please someone give me a REAL JOB!!!!!!
-
making
cross stitch progress. this was the only thing i did last week aside from shake like a chihuahua and sleep. very slow going! may have to ship the package off to my brother with an IOU bc it is already stressfully late.
Tumblr media
made the bean influencer soup (creamy miso coconut butter beans). i made a batch before the hurricane last week so most of my notes are from then. the grocery did not have canned butter beans so i made the same thing (big lima beans) from dry. i have not made beans from dry since i was very small. these beans were so large, so pale, so aggressive.
changes: i was able to find a little carton of straight coconut cream at the grocery but they were out of miso paste. i did have miso soup mix and plopped that in. i also used frozen spinch bc it’s cheaper and i felt better about it than the somewhat questionable fresh spinch on offer. also used two onions instead of one and a hearty dollop of minced jarred garlic bc who do u think i even fucking am. i would have loved to use fresh dill, bc i did plant some and it was growing very well, but the caterpillars were very intense and ate almost everything on my balcony.
going in the rotation! im making it AGAIN as im typing up this post! pretty cheap, very tasty, i don't regularly keep butter beans or coconut cream in my pantry but that can change!

Do you know when Bruce started doing the sign requests for songs that aren't his? Seems like it was a big thing during the High Hopes tour? I wish he'd do more covers now. (To be clear I'm not complaining at all about the current tour, and of course I love his own music, but those covers seemed like so much fun and he always looked like he was having such a good time!)
Sorry for the late reply! Just had to check my sources.
Here's what Peter Ames Carlin writes about the signs in his 2012 biography on Bruce:
Tumblr media
(I've seen people write that there were "Rosalita" signs at the show when he finally played it, so maybe he just decided to cave.)
Bruce first started having fun with the signs on the 2007-2008 Magic tour, and 'stump the band' became a thing. Little Steven has said he's very grateful for the telepromters providing lyrics (due to each night's random song assortments) but when it came to chords etc. they'd all rely on decades of bar band experience.
Cut to the Wrecking Ball tour, and by the end of it you have half the setlist straight up consisting of homemade scribbled requests! Only on The River tour (2016-2017) did Bruce decide to start reeling it in.
Bruce's current shows have had a very strong theme he wants to center - death, the passing of time, being in the moment - so the setlists have been pretty rigid - though less so than on the first leg of the tour. I've seen people grumble about it, because many got used to sign requests being a big part of the show, but considering most people will only see Bruce and the E Street Band once a tour (if that), I think it's fine that he's not filling his setlist with deep cuts every night. Still, I sure would love to hear Pink Cadillac live.

MISCELLANEOUS LYRICS PROMPTS *  assorted lyrics from random songs on my playlist ♡
i had to stop for the night.
that's just the way it is.
i have no home.
the music seems so loud.
what made me behave that way?
you wonder why i'm here today.
it's only fair that i should let you know.
find out where it's at.
there's no comfort in the truth.
it's only just a crush. it'll go away.
kiss me like we die tonight.
i'm so glad you found me in time.
you're in my way.
something in your eyes was so inviting.
how long will they stand between us?
i want to hold you close.
there were voices down the corridor.
you can find it here.
don't make me wait forever.
we've drunk a couple bottles.
if only you knew what i'm going through.
i guess they left the park.
it's time to go.
i should have known better than to cheat a friend.
i really should be holding you.
i can't live if living is without you.
loving you is some kind of wonderful.
your voice was all i heard.
the less i know, the better.
we're going out in style, babe.
it's cute in a way.
i know you're not a fool.
you won't be leaving with me.
some things will never change.
this time, i think i'm to blame.
the rules have changed today.
i can see it in your eyes.
i had to follow you.
pull yourself together.
i never realized how happy you made me.
please bring me my wine.
don't shut me down.
i love your eyes.
i wish that we could lose this crowd.
i was looking for someone to complete me.
those voices are calling me from far away.
i have no place to stay.
give me a reason.
i want to fucking tear you apart.
it's hard to bear.
i feel so unsure.
i don't wanna cause you pain.
you must put them on the table.
it only goes so far.
is this what you want? is this who you are?
we kissed like we invented it.
you don't tug on superman's cape.
my friends would say you treated me fine.
you've given me the thrill of a lifetime.
we are all just prisoners here of our own device.
i can't stay away.
i'm finding it hard to do anything.
put your arms around me, baby.
the time is right.
why did it all go wrong?
you can check out any time you like.
i'm not the one you knew.
someone said they left together.
i can't forget this evening.
it never comes out right.
you can't go where the others go.
i was doing fine without you.
you can't come uninvited.
you kissed me and stopped me from shaking.
i just can't make it all alone.
the sun is going down. it's getting dark.
something in my heart told me i must have you.
sometimes i think it's a shame.
i guess that's just the way the story goes.
did you really think about it before you made the rules?
you'll be on your knees tomorrow.
i don't care what others say.
we could have been so good together.
maybe it's better this way.
the apartment hasn't changed at all.
i've come to get my money back.
you always smile, but in your eyes your sorrow shows.
here we are, in a room full of strangers.
there was nowhere to hide.
you were always good to me.
no one can take the place of you
there's a burning down inside me.
i love how you kiss.
why don't we just sit right down?
i need you today.
don't push me. i'll fight it.
love can make you hostage.
how can you stand to think this way?
i can't smile without you.
ever since that night, we've been together.
this wooden bench is getting harder by the hour.
my feet are aching.
who am i to keep you down?
i told you right from the start.
we'd hurt each other with the things we'd want to say.

may writing challenge day 2, 382 words AU: a young Zevran explores his first Arlathvhen
Zevran is suffused with the sights and sounds of Arlathvhen. He moves through the crowds with a grin that doesn’t budge, and with one simple goal—to see everything as quickly as possible.
There are merchants selling toys and jewelry and fabric. Food stands fill the air with the scent of a dozen spices. People in costume sing songs and perform traditional Dalish dances. He walks the length of the beach and back, and it is only scratching the surface of all there is to experience.
It feels wonderful.
Often when he is reading a very good book, he skims. Sentences, passages, entire pages in a flash—and then he finds himself at some scintillating turning point, some shocking scene of romance or adventure or terror, with no clue how he got there.
It happens to him now.
Past the sea of sellers are the campsites of the various clans, assorted with a collection of aravels, tents, and boats.
It is quieter here. There are families and conversation and the peaceful domesticity of a Dalish campground multiplied tenfold. Zevran is about to leave when a voice reaches his ears.
“Lost, friend?”
Zevran turns and immediately recognizes the singer from earlier.
A Dalish elf with vallaslin in twining lines of grey—no, blue—ink peeks at him with his instrument still in hand. He’s a bit taller than him. His hair and flesh are the color of sunbleached bone, and his pale blue eyes dart about with exceeding interest. He gives the faintest smile—and Zevran realizes he’s being rather quiet.
“A little,” he says quickly, and he clears his throat. “I’m looking—for a book,” he lies.
“A book?”
“Yes, yes,” Zevran continues, and he steps towards the man. The lie comes to him quickly, like an obedient falcon winging its way to its master, and like the best lies, it has a core of truth. “A lyrics book—a cancionero. I am from Antiva City, you see, and it is hard to find Dalish literature in the human lands.”
“You are interested in lyrics, specifically?” the man asks. He weighs his jarana from one hand to the other.
“Oh yes. I am enjoying the music here,” Zevran says with a grin. “It is beautiful.”
The man tilts his head slightly, regarding him.
Zevran laughs at himself. Perhaps it was too much to hope that the stranger would recognize him from the crowd.

we've all heard of chay - kim body swap au, now introducing:
Kim - Porsche bodyswap au (This is entirely inspired by me remembering Apo as Jeff during the KP WTF concert)
Porsche One day Porsche wakes up in some fancy hotel room and doesn't question it just yet, he's woken up in weirder places with no memory, this was nothing new, the lack of a splitting headache was nice though. Going to the bathroom and looking in the mirror is when Porsche does start to question some things. That is NOT his face staring back in the mirror. The face looks vaguely familiar but Porsche can't quite place where from. There's a sudden insistent knocking at the door. Porsche does not want to open it as knocking that frantic is never good, but it's not like there's anywhere else for him to go and they don't seem to be willing to leave if he just ignores it.
Opening it Porsche it greeted with an exasperated man,"Wik! You're going to be late! You've just woken up haven't you? Nevermind we'll get you fixed up at the venue, just come!" The man grabs Porsches arm and drags him into an elevator, out of an elevator, and then into a car.
Porsche keeps trying to tell the man that he is not whoever this 'Wik' guy is but the man just looks at him more annoyed.
It's when Porsche is once again being dragged around and forced into a Chair and a woman is putting make up on his face as he watches in a mirror does he figure out who he looks like.
He can't believe he didn't recognize it sooner, but theres a picture tapped to the mirror that Porsche had seen before in Chays room.
He was in the body of Chay's idol. The man who had brought him here is pulling him out of the chair and leading him somewhere else. He was saying something but Porsche only catches the last part of,"We changed the set list, Highway is the opening song now, okay?" Before he is being shoved on to a stage, the loud cheering startles him. There is music being blasted all around him, it's familiar, something he had heard Chay playing around the house.
In his ear he hears,"Verse in 3 2 1.." Looking down he sees a screen with lyrics on it.
Well.
Porsche opens his mouth. Kim Kim wakes up in a room not his own. It's messy. He's instantly suspicious of where he is. He didn't drink and he didn't do drugs, the most he does is a cigarette when he felt particularly stressed but he tried not to smoke too often as it would damage his voice.
Kim investigates the room, but theres nothing to note. It seemed like an average teenage boys room with the clothes being left strewn about everywhere, an assortment of band posters stuck up on the walls. Then he finds a little hidden part behind a bookcase.
There's a wall covered in his face, but hes quick to notice it's only photos of Wik.
Kim didn't know what was happening and wasn't sure what to feel.
The door to the room swings open and Kim jumps slightly, having not heard anything that should've tipped him off to someone approaching.
"Hia?" Kim turns around to see a teenage boy staring at him confused but with no signs of wanting to hurt him, he's cute, but still Kim keeps his guard up.
"What do you want?"
"Did I wake you? Go back to sleep Hia, I just came to get my phone, P'Wiks event it starting now."
P'Wik?
The boy seemed harmless as he grabbed his phone off a table, so Kim followed him down stairs.
"What are you going to watch with me Hia?"
Kim didn't know why the boy kept calling him Hia but he just nodded.
The boy had a live stream up and already playing, he turned the volume up just in time for Kim to hear the MC announce,"Please welcome to the stage, P'Wik!"
Seeing himself walk onto the stage was something.
It looked both exactly like and nothing like what he looked like. The Wik on the screen looked perfectly like him, but everything else was wrong, the walk, the way he held himself, how he seemed hesitant and unsure of what to do.
Whoevers body Kim was in, they were in Kims.
The backing track to Kims new song started playing.
"Hia, do you think P'Wik looks nervous? He's acting strange, I hope his management isn't overworking him."
Kim watches as fake him looks around before settling on looking at the ground, presumably where the lyrics would be.
Kim holds his breath. This guy wasn't going to sing as Kim... was he?
"Peung ja ru kwam songjam ti mi-"
It's painful, not a single note is on Key, and just barely in time as well.
"Hia he sounds awful! You don't think he's sick do you? God his management suck making him preform even while he's sick."
The next 3 minutes are excruciatingly painful for Kim.

music and artists i think you'd enjoy based on your favorite danganronpa character
- for characters with less songs, expect them to be edited in the future - if there's a song that's instrumental doesn't really fit the vibe of the character, then look at the lyrics. a lot of these are in japanese so i recommend looking them up if you're curious or confused. short explanations are provided for more confusing songs (original titles are provided, as some songs/lyrics only show up under those names) - don't like? don't look. if you don't like what i have to say you don't have to say anything about it. just smile and scroll
Chiaki Nanami binaria - not just recommending them because they wrote the DR3: Despair Arc opening, but because their music is legitimately super good and it somewhat reminds me of her laid-back sweet personality song(s) to try - 火星のアーカイブ (Mars Archive), 双糸 (Twin Threads) other assorted songs - きゅうくらりん (kyukurarin), パレットには君がいっぱい (My Palette is Full of You) (rest easy, siinamota), 幸せになれる隠しコマンドがあるらしい (There's Supposed to Be a Cheat Code for Happiness), うに (Uni)
Nagito Komaeda Megumi Ogata - i know she's his CV... her music is just so, so good and fitting. no matter how hard i try i CANNOT unhear nagito.  song(s) to try - 再生-rebuild-, 残桜-zanka-, poison -劇薬- The Hoosiers - no comment i cant explain this one. wanted to put this for hajime too song(s) to try - Who Said Anything (About Falling In Love)?, Runs In The Family other assorted songs - Under My Skin, ヒトガワリ (Substitute)
Hajime Hinata Foster the People - this is definitely more of a "music i feel like they'd listen to." but to each their own. song(s) to try - Ask Yourself, Nobody's Favourite (Foster The People rework) (i should just link the entire Supermodel album here lol) other assorted songs - Friend's Apartment, A Sadness Runs Through Him
Ryota Mitarai 実験台モルモット (jikkendaimarmot) - although their songs don't have english translations (its difficult to even find the original lyrics) the overall vibe of their music makes me think of him song(s) to try - 100万回死んだぼく (I've Died 100 Times), リストカッター (Wrist Cutter) (shockingly, the latter is not about s/h. lyrics here, but i believe it's about coming to terms with living in hopes of a better future even if you truly want to die.) 全てあなたの所為です(It's All Your Fault/subeteanatanoseidesu) - their music is very vague and ambiguous. it's mostly just the vibes for this one song(s) to try - エヌ (N), . (it's just a dot) (i believe . about experiencing unexpected events in life, and whenever you try to see the good in them, they end up causing you more pain [ie. getting water from a usually empty container, only for it to taste too sweet]) other assorted songs - 輪廻転生 (Reincarnation), ドーピングダンス (Doping Dance), The Saddest Story Ever Told
Celestia Ludenberg Lana Del Rey -  BEFORE YOU BEAT ME TO DEATH hear me out… some of her songs really have that "femme fatale who pulls evil shit to get what she wants" vibe song(s) to try - National Anthem (Demo 1), Lolita (Demo) other assorted songs - Pyrite Girl, Girl Anachronism, Candle Queen
Kyoko Kirigiri x0o0x_ - whatever genre they make I WANT IT. their music is calming and makes you want to cry at the same time, yet some songs make you wanna scream the lyrics and stand ominously in the wind… it's just so unique song(s) to try - '''''', ====== (most songs have no titles, so i'm using the ones from their spotify) other assorted songs - The Downfall of a Well Known Actress
Junko Enoshima MARETU - the theme of his music is so… despair-inducing. you can imagine an edit of her with any one of his songs song(s) to try - マエガミスト (Maegamist), うまれるまえは (Born before) (maegamist is about turning a blind eye to other people's/society's problems, isolating yourself and leaving them to struggle alone. but this is just my interpretation) 和田たけあき (WadatakeakiP/KurageP) - cant explain this one… trust me song(s) to try - チュルリラ・チュルリラ・ダッダッダ!(Chururira Chururira Daddadda!), トラッシュ・アンド・トラッシュ!(Trash and Trash!) (chururira is about using other people's "bad" actions against them (no matter how small) to spread harmful rumors/snitch on them until you're the only "good" one) other assorted songs - Breaking Things Into Pieces, 食事 (EAT) (my interpretation of EAT is consuming everything you can, but never being satisfied)
hope yall can hear me out on some of these have fun happy listening
if i get any reblogs "correcting" me saying a fictional 4-person rhythm game group wrote and produced any of these songs im deleting my fucking account (iykyk)

Dancing with the world in my hands
Summary: Nesta introduces the Symphonia to her daughter and naturally, they have a dance party.
WC: 1k
Read on AO3
A/N: Just a little fluff to beat away the Monday blues💕
Tumblr media
The house is quiet.
Nesta snaps her head up from her page at the realisation, taking note of the page number. She has read nearly an entire chapter in the time Alea has been doodling abstract colours on a drawing pad.
To her chagrin, three year old Alea is not at the little drawing desk her father had painstakingly built for her. Her crayons and colour pencils lie haphazardly on the pad and surrounding floor but the girl in question is nowhere to be seen.
And the house is still too quiet.
“Alea?” Nesta calls out cautiously, pointed ears strain for a hint of sound the kid is bound to make.
Nesta stands, catching the knitted fabric just before the blanket fully slides to the ground. “Alea?” She summons a little louder this time.
Still nothing.
“A little help here?” She mutters to the ceiling - the ace in her sleeve.
Her reading light blinks rhythmically at the Valkyrie almost in faint amusement. Find her yourself.
Nesta clicks her tongue and grumbles, “You’re supposed to be on my side.”
The window opens a crack, just enough to let in a gust of wind. It whips at her face and teases the stray strands just enough so that it tickles her face. The equivalent of the House blowing a raspberry.
With a huff, Nesta marks her page and drops the book on the side table. She makes her way down the corridor leading to the bedrooms, snorting at how the faelights lining the walls twinkle in jest.
A tussle in her room captures her attention. An assortment of her items surround her daughter like a ritualistic circle. The fae in question has her face scrunched up in concentration, her lips pursed and her wings tucked in tightly. She looks down at the spherical object that Alea holds in her chubby hands and her stomach nearly drops.
Quick to rein in her temper before it slips out, Nesta chides, “Alea! What did I say about messing with our stuff?”
Alea looks up at her, completely unrepentant. Instead, her face splits into a white smile. “Mama!” Stubby legs thud excitedly across the wooden floorboards. She holds up the orb, “What’s this?”
Nesta feels the smile curving up her lips as she takes hold of her precious object, saying gently but firmly, “This is a Symphonia and you need to be very careful with it because this is a very important present papa gave me.” She taps the top, watching beautiful hazel eyes sparkle as music fills the room.
“Music!” She exclaims, clapping little hands in joy.
Nesta switches around in search for a more upbeat tune. She and Cassian had recorded many songs over the years as they travelled around Prythian and even the occasional continent. Eventually, she landed on a cheerful tune from the Summer Court.
“What about this?” She asks fondly.
Alea’s head bobs slowly, her hips starting to sway side to side to the beat of the music.
“Dance” Nesta explains, taking her daughter’s hands into her own. Her own hips too begin to sway along.
“Dance!” The little fae repeats cheerfully. She twirls and hops and eventually falls out of rhythm. Not that it matters, not when her wings flap excitedly and joyful laughter echoes throughout the room.
Her wings dip slightly when the song ends and another more serious tune begins. Her brows crease in response, “Another?”
Nesta taps the top a couple more times, cycling through the songs until a familiar baritone voice comes on.
“Papa!” Her daughter scrambles up from where she had been rolling around. She leans over the musical device, her eyes round and bright in wonder.
Cassian’s voice carries the Illyrian lyrics, every flex of intonation soothes the soul. He is joined by a single drum which steadily grows into a full ensemble of percussion and female chorusing. If Nesta closes her eyes, she could almost imagine the roaring fire and the communal energy swirling through the air.
A soft weight leans against her front. Alea’s face is filled with wondrous amazement as she switches her weight from one leg to the other, her head bobbing along.
Nesta feels as if her heart could combust in that very moment. Giving into the urge, she sweeps her daughter into her arms and squeezes her into a tight hug.
“Mama” Alea complains, wriggling her way out of the embrace to demand, “Dance!”
They repeat the song for at least another five more times before another gust of wind blows through the room. It lights up the golden thread winding through her chest with shimmering warmth. Cassian steps through the room to receive a face full of flapping mini wings. He spins his daughter around, inciting delightful giggles.
“What is this?” He asks as he lowers Alea to the ground, who promptly launches back into her own dance.
She quirks a brow, “You tell me”
Cassian clears his throat, looking slightly embarrassed as he registers the familiar tune. “Ah”
Nesta says nothing and chooses to wait instead. Her mate huffs slightly. His eyes shift downwards to the blaring Symphonia and his face softens, “My mum used to sing this to me. We never had drums or a chorus to sing with but…”
He trails off, “When I came across the females singing them in their community tent the other day and,” hazel eyes are bright when he meets her gaze, “I just had to record it.”
Nesta crosses to her mate in a heartbeat, enveloping him in a hug. She breathes in the comforting scent as strong arms circle snugly around her waist.
She leans to capture his lips into a chaste kiss. She says softly, “It’s beautiful”
The strong cut lines pull into a teary smile.
“Yeah, it is.” He breathes, leaning in to slot his lips against hers once again-
“Papa!” An insistent hand tugs on his pants. Their daughter’s face is set in a pout. “Stop!” She decrees.
The two of them laugh as Cassian lowers to a squat. “Okay. Papa stop.” He agrees.
“Dance!” Their daughter, the little princess of their life, grabs one parent on each hand and begins twirling around - just for the song to end.
“Again!” She demands, and they do. With her world in her arms, Nesta dances.

@tyrannysaurusfloof i thought maybe sending you 2,500 words in your askbox wasn't the best way to send this lol and apparently tumblr doesn't let you send documents in DMs, so i have it in separate post here for u!
Stobotnik Subnautica AU fic snippet
Out of all the Earth luxuries Robotnik was forced to live without, he missed music the most. His CDs, his mixtapes, his curated playlists. He missed the deafening pulse of industrial drum and bass, the intricate rhythms of funk and jazz, the comforting pop classics, and invigorating rock melodies that he could dance to.
Robotnik never fully realized just how miserable a world without music could be. He began humming to himself, even sang songs he only half remembered the lyrics to in an effort to stay sane in the deserted, depressing isolation he was surviving in.
And here he was, humming a Tears for Fears tune while he piloted his submarine vessel 500 meters down under the sea. The submarine that Robotnik constructed and christened "The Eggmarine" was holding up perfectly, just as planned. He never made mistakes when it came to engineering, it was just like breathing to him. Physics, math, science, electronics, all of it was second nature.
Robotnik was able to harness the near endless power supply of the blue quill and recycle parts of his prototype – as only an extraordinary genius like him could do – and he created something incredible after losing nearly everything.
The Eggmarine was an engineering marvel in and of itself, but he had even bigger blueprints in progress. His ultimate mission: to construct a space shuttle capable of interstellar travel. He was going to make it back to Earth no matter what. He'd make it home by Christmas. He declared it boldly to himself out loud after barely surviving the crash landing of his prototype on one of the many islands of the alien planet.
Another great feat that the doctor took pride in was the detailed cataloging and analysis of every single new thing about this alien planet. Countless unknown species of flora, fauna, megafauna, biomes and climates, lifeless ruins of what seemed to be some kind of ancient civilization with astounding technology… It was all exhilarating.
Robotnik was at heart a brilliant scientist, and though the circumstances bringing him to this planet were absolutely horrid, he often found himself feeling like a kid discovering the wonders of science again. He intensively studied the new alien technology he found in the ruins – He was so close to cracking the code to their written language – and vastly advanced his progress  surviving on the planet. With the alien technology he was able to build a much improved habitat and small laboratory with ease.
It had been 63 days now since Sonic sent him crashing through the ring portal in Green Hills. If there was anything he had now, it was down time. Day 63, and he'd already recorded over two hundred new species, determined multiple theories of their evolution, mapped out the string of islands he crashed on, not to mention narrowly escaping being killed and eaten countless times by the local mega predators – which there were plenty of.
Robotnik had faced an assorted deadly lineup of insects, poisonous animals, scavengers, hunters and predators both on land and under the sea, and the kings at the top of the food chain: Leviathan class mega predators – gargantuan creatures similar to the dinosaurs back in earth's ancient history.
Robotnik learned very quickly he had to create a predator of his own if he ever wanted to get off this planet unscathed.
So he did what he did best, and built a robotic mech suit designed for combat, capable of both land and marine travel, and resource gathering. With it, he was now able to hold his own against most predators, and even fought a few different leviathans in the depths of the ocean and escaped the battles unharmed. But stealth was always the best policy so far – less damage to his precious machine, and less risk of being drowned or eaten.
Robotnik had not found anything that resembled anything close to a sentient life form yet, and the chances of doing so were growing smaller and smaller. He laughed out thinking, was it really that different here from the 8 billion barely sentient monkeys back on earth?
"Passing 750 meters. Pressure stabilized." The robotic voice of the vessel's artificial intelligence spoke, showing the status of all ship systems in green. "Scanners indicate traces of nickel ore below, south west."
Robotnik was currently in search of rare minerals to craft his escape plan. Minerals that he determined could only be found beneath the sea floor in a thermal, volcanic climate.
The A.I. spoke again, this time with a warning. "Detecting multiple leviathan class life forms in the region. Doctor, are you certain whatever you're doing is worth it?"
Of course the exact biome where he needed to go would be crawling with dangerous monsters. The statistical probability that he calculated before was, again, unfortunately proven correct. Of course he had to be right, every time! He thought with a groan. Sometimes, it was worse to be proved right. Even the warm glow of smug satisfaction wears off quickly when you're chased by savage animals out to make you their next meal.
"Shut your trap and keep scanning. I'm not leaving until I get my hands on that ore." Robotnik continued the descent, passing tall black hydrothermal vents – a good sign that he was heading in the right direction.
There was no sound now but the engine's hum, and the steady ping of the sonar system every 7 seconds.
984 meters. Ping. The sonar mapped out the deep trench he was in, and showed a massive crevice opening further down. He was getting readings of small-scale volcanic eruptions in this region, and hoped that crevice was the entrance to his destination.
A loud, organic screech passed through the dark waters, and Robotnik instinctively rushed to hit silent mode.
The internal and external lights went out, and the engine shifted gears. Robotnik sat in the pilot seat, frozen, waiting for another noise.
It was almost worse that he heard nothing.
The artificial intelligence spoke up quickly, casting information in red in the control screens. "Proximity Alert: Threat Detected. Leviathan class life form."
Robotnik cursed out loud, white knuckling the control wheel.
"Proximity: 50 meters." The A.I. stated. "25… 10… brace for impact."
The side of the sub was hit by something colossal, and Robotnik was nearly thrown out of the pilot chair.
Then another uncomfortably loud sound – a roar vibrating through the metallic chambers and utterly harrowing.
A leviathan predator. A reaper - he recognized the horrible sound.
He didn't have any weapons mounted on the Eggmarine, and he couldn't launch his mech suit and fight back – he was in completely unknown territory and what looked to be about 400 more meters to the bottom of the trench. His mech suit couldn't make it up 400 meters straight up back to the submarine, and no way could he safely swim back to his Eggmarine without getting snapped up. Nightmare scenario again. He could only sit tight, stay on course, and hope the predator would lose interest and leave, or kick engines in high gear and make a break for it.
The sub was hit again, and the alarms began sounding. "Hull damage imminent."
The leviathan was not going to leave.
Robotnik slammed the switches and revved up the engine to full speed. He had to get the hell out of here. The only way through was down.
He was sure every creature in the region could hear the Eggmarine's engines and the roars of the reaper leviathan.
"New Threat Detected: Another Leviathan class life form. Proximity: 58 meters."
Oh no.
Ping. The sonar sounded, and the red outline of another large shape was dead ahead of the submarine's path of escape.
Ping. The shape grew bigger, and it was coming straight for him.
"Proximity Alert: 25 meters."
Robotnik jumped out of his skin, his heart beating out of his chest. "Fucking hell!" He shoved the control wheel forward to avoid the impact. "Nononono!"
The submarine descended sharply, and the leviathan behind him roared, but it was interrupted halfway from a second massive sound bellowing through the depths. The second leviathan growled – but it was completely different from the first – like a harsh rumbling of thunder ending with rhythmic clicking.
"Danger: Engine overheating." Robotnik heard a blast coming from the engine bay.
Everything was going to hell. He couldn't leave the bridge to attend to the fire he knew had started, not with two giant monsters about to tear his ship apart.
The sonar pinged, and Robotnik could see the two leviathans grappling together. It was hard to make out the image from the red flash that lasted only seconds, but it seemed as if they were fighting – it sounded horrible, with the two huge predators growling, howling, and snapping at each other. Roars pierced through the darkness, and the top of the vessel was hit again, worse this time.
"Hull compromised - storage bay ceiling."
Robotnik was flung forwards from the mighty impact of the leviathans. “Damn it, come on! Go!” He hissed, reorienting himself on the controls and leaning into them as if it would make the sub go faster. He saw a blink of movement in the glass, a blur of 2 long tails and fins swiftly passing the front of the bridge, so fast he could barely make it out in the dark.
Robotnik shoved the wheel as far forward as possible, plummeting the vessel in a rapid descent. "Not today you hungry mongrels! This snack is out of your league!" He taunted through clenched teeth.
If he could only reach the crevice, maybe he could find a place to hide, buy time to repair the hull damage, and stand his ground against the leviathans in the mech suit. The engines had to burn for a little longer, there was no other choice.
But the universe had other plans.
"Engine Damage Critical. Shutting Down."
"AARGH– give me a big, fat break!!" Robotnik yelled in frustration, still pushing the wheel hard.
The Eggmarine's movement slowed to a halt, floating dead in the water.
Ping. The sonar marked the vast, empty space of his location in the ocean, in a trench about 700 kilometers wide with mountainous walls going nearly straight upwards on either side of it.
There was 1 dot left on his display. 1 leviathan.
Threat Proximity: 20 meters.
There was nothing Robotnik could do. The sub's engine was down, a breach was ripping the hull, and a hungry, territorial leviathan was coming for him.
The creature sounded – a short, clicking rumble. It was the second leviathan, the one Robotnik had never heard before.
It was swimming up from the deep, still chasing him after surviving and presumably winning its deadly fight with the reaper.
The sonar rang out again. Ping.
The creature responded to the sonar with the same short rumble, ending with an ascending trill.
Robotnik leaned forward, brows furrowed at this new behavior. He switched off the sonar and floodlights and watched anxiously for movement.
Something slowly floated up into view of the glass dome of the Eggmarine's bridge.
Robotnik saw scaled and finned limbs coming from the dark, and they gently landed on the glass below him. He counted three, no, four arm-like appendages.
They almost resembled… webbed hands, pressed against the glass. They lifted, and tapped the glass several times, almost experimentally. The bang of the glass nearly gave Robotnik a heart attack.
The creature swam from beneath the glass up until it was directly in front of the pilot's control panel. The leviathan made no noise since the last sonar soundwave, and stayed in its spot facing the front glass of the bridge, its body swishing slowly side to side in the darkness.
Robotnik was almost afraid to turn the exterior flood lights back on, but he had to know what kind of beast was staring him in the face.
This leviathan was an entirely different species from any other he'd seen. It was slightly smaller in length than the reaper, but its body was much thicker and more mammalian. Its underbelly looked smooth, but its 6 limbs, spine and tail were scaled and armored. Its lower pair of arms were tucked into itself, and the top two arms swayed in front. It had two powerful muscular legs that were treading slowly in the water, and its long, spined tail snaked along with them.
Its head was more frighteningly humanoid than he would ever have expected. In its face were multiple sets of eyes squinting back, blinking rapidly from the bright floodlights. Small clusters of bubbles escaped from gills on either side of its neck, and 2 long, thin rays coming out of either side of its head with bioluminescent bulbs at the end.
Robotnik turned the sonar back on. A single ping.
The creature rumbled back, and it almost sounded like a whale's call in an attempt to imitate the sonar's frequency. It made no sudden movements, continuing to tread in place with unhurried motions.
Robotnik breathed out a shaken gasp of relief. This creature, whatever it was, didn't seem to see him on its menu right now. However, he had no time to investigate the intentions of the leviathan, he had engine fires to put out and a catastrophic implosion to prevent.
He left the sonar on to keep the creature distracted, switched the internal lights back on and ran full speed into the engine room to extinguish the fires. A thin stream of water was steadily spraying like a fire hydrant from a small breach in the plasteel ceiling that was getting worse every minute from the massive pressure of about 1200 PSI from the outside.
Robotnik yanked the repair tool off the wall, and clipped his harness to the suspension support and hauled himself up into the air to reach the storage bay ceiling.
He focused on welding the breach as best he could through the low visibility of the water flying everywhere and covering his goggles.
"It's just another day!" He shouted above the noise of the welding. "Just another day in the life of Dr. Ivo Robotnik, greatest man on earth AND planet 4546B! Day 63, boldly going! It's Tuesday back home! Stupid blue alien rat and its stupid magic rings!"
A strange, fuzzy sensation suddenly passed through his head. It was like a soft static of a distant radio, organic sounds garbled and unintelligible within. It was growing louder and louder. Robotnik cursed out loud. What the hell was next? Had he developed some new medical or psychological condition from a dangerous stimuli he'd unknowingly interacted with?
There was a painful pop of pressure in his head, as if the air pressure had climbed steeply in seconds – and the static noise stopped, both his ears started ringing a high pitched drone.
But Robotnik kept welding, he couldn't stop or he'd be dead in minutes, crushed from the impending implosion.
Finally, the water subsided, and the breach was closed.
Robotnik hung suspended in the air in his harness, breathing hard through the adrenaline rush and pain in his ears and head.
He slid down, and landed unsteadily on his feet on the metal floor. Back to the bridge. He was certain that all the noise from the Eggmarine's roaring engines and the leviathan fight would attract other predators.
The leviathan was gone from the view of the glass dome.
The sonar went off, and Robotnik saw the creature was floating in place beside the top of the sub, close to where the hull breach was. And now, it was swimming back into view of the bridge again.
Robotnik swallowed a prickle of fear. What the hell was it doing?
The high pitched ringing was at its loudest now. Robotnik leaned over the console, elbows hitting the metal, and clasped both hands to the side of his head, pushing them hard against his skull in a panicked effort to make the pain stop.
But the agonizing drone faded sharply into nothing, and was replaced with something else – a voice, soft and low pitched, echoing clear inside his head.
"Who…are…you?"

"[T]o Peter, music is just about everything..."
“When The Monkees first started, Peter was said to be the best musician of the group. And today, he’s even more tuned in to music than ever before. You might think he’d want to get away from guitars and chords and harmony and lyrics when he wasn’t working. But to Peter, music is just about everything. And even his private moments are spent creating sounds. Sneak up on Peter and you’ll probably find him with his guitar in hand, strumming and singing. If he’s not simply amusing himself with the folk songs he loves so much, he’s composing new songs. Lately, he’s been doing more and more song-writing for The Monkees and for other show business friends. Peter doesn’t have any special way of writing a song. It all comes from inspiration. He gets an idea and then he works it out. It may come quickly, in an hour or so. Or it may take days, even weeks, for Peter to get the idea transformed into a song he’s pleased with. But he won’t quit until he is pleased. That’s just the way Peter is.” - 16 (?), 1968
“I have a great big Vox electric organ in my dressing room (which isn’t very big at all). I practice playing new tunes on it and writing tunes on it during the day. If you ever hear any eerie rock and roll organ music floating around in the background on a Monkees segment, you’ll know that’s your boy Peter working out in the background. I love writing tunes — not songs. All of my compositions are melodic — I have started three or four in the past several months. One is called Laura and the other is called A Stone Drag. Some of them are pretty far out. I took music theory in college — and when I was starving in the Village, I used to transcribe arrangements for a living. That means I would take a record and play it and then put the notes down on music manuscript paper. I was a perfectionist and my music manuscripts are still the most beautiful you’ll ever see.” - Peter Tork, 16’s The Monkees: Here We Are (1967)
“[Peter’s dressing room on the set of the TV show was] wall-to-wall musical instruments and assorted paraphernalia. Keyboards, guitars, amps, microphones, tape recorders, sheet music. You never had to look around for Peter. If you needed him you could always find him hunched over his Fender Rhodes practicing a Bach Three-Part invention.” - Micky Dolenz, I’m A Believer: My Life of Monkees, Music, And Madness (1993) (x)

Son of a Bitch!
Been wanting to write this for a long time now, but somehow nothing came to mind till today. just a little fluffy to get your day going. hope ya'll enjoy...
youtube
Pairing Dean and Y/N, with appearances of Uncle Sam.
Dean Winchester had faced demons, angels, and monsters of all kinds, but nothing had him more rattled than a simple piece of baby furniture. He stared at the pile of crib parts scattered across the room, frustration etched into his features. The soft melody of the song played in the background as he muttered to himself, trying to make sense of the assembly instructions. He had promised his wife, who was due any moment now, that he would have it set up in no time, that he knew what to do. So when Sam, his brother, said they needed a supply run and to check on some things in town, Y/N told him to have at it and that she hoped to see it completed when they got back.
Which brings us to now. Here he was in the nursery that they had cleaned out a few days ago to dedicate their baby to. It was very close to their room, and that's what Y/N had wanted.
"I'm gonna need someone to help me,” Dean grumbled, running a hand through his unruly hair. He looked at the crib's manual, then back at the crib, feeling utterly lost, all while singing the song that was currently playing in the background.
“SON OF A BITCH!” he grunted in true Dean fashion as he dropped the wrench on his toe.
Meanwhile, Sam and Y/N had just returned from a much-needed supply run. They exchanged worried glances as they entered the bunker, hearing Dean's stressed mutterings from a distance.
"Is Dean in trouble?" Sam asked, a hint of concern in his voice.
Y/N nodded, her heart pounding with anxiety. "It sounds like it. Let's go check on him."
They rushed to Dean's location, ready for a supernatural showdown. But what they found was far from what they expected.
Dean was still mumbling, struggling to put the crib together. There were noises of him beating things and throwing things. Sam looked at Y/N, “You stay here, just in case.”
“But if he’s in trouble, he needs me,” she replied, worried as they continued to hear him.
“I’ll make sure it's safe first. Just stay here,” Sam said with a stern warning as he prepared to face whatever it was that had Dean.
Sam walked over a little more to the open bedroom and peeked in a little with his gun at the ready. What he saw made him bite his bottom lip to keep from laughing. He motioned for Y/N to come look.
She, too, wanted to burst out laughing, but the thought of him setting up his daughter's crib was just so adorable to her that she couldn’t bring herself to tease him. The room was filled with crib parts, screws, and an assortment of tools, while the song continued to play, its lyrics perfectly capturing Dean's state of mind and mood.
"I'm gonna need someone to hold me down, son of a bitch," Dean sang along softly, not noticing Sam and Y/N's arrival.
"Dean, are you okay?" Sam finally called out.
Startled, Dean jumped, nearly dropping a piece of the crib. He looked up to see Sam and Y/N standing there, concern in their eyes.
"Sam, Y/N," Dean stammered, "I'm fine. Just trying to...assemble this damn crib, son of a bitch." He said, dropping the wrench on his toe again. “That’s going to bruise.”
“Aaww,,” Y/N said as she went over to him and side-hugged him, “You are so cute right now.”
“I’m not cute, Y/N. Cute is for teddy bears and Scooby-Doo plushies. I’m a hunter, not cute,” his face turned red.
She pinched his cheek, “But you're my kind of cute,” she said and kissed him.
“Now we see why he was saying 'son of a bitch'; the song was playing. It seems to match the mood,” Sam said as he picked up the instructions. “What, no English versions?” He looked on each side.
“No, and that’s what I was arguing with, that and this damn wrench kept falling out of my hands.”
“Well, why don’t we all figure it out together then, hmm?” Y/N said with a smile on her face.
“Sounds good to me, monsters I get, cribs I don’t,” Dean said honestly.
The lyrics of the song seemed to resonate with Dean's current struggle as he continued to wrestle with the crib parts. "Son of a b*tch, give me a drink," he muttered under his breath.
They all sat down to look at the instructions and began to decipher them. After getting halfway through, Dean sighed, wiping sweat from his brow. "This thing is more complicated than a devil's trap. I've faced scarier monsters than this crib."
Y/N and Sam shared a laugh, their initial worry fading away. Together, they joined Dean in assembling the crib, the room now echoing with frequent "son of a bitch" exclamations from Dean.
As they worked, the song continued in the background, its lyrics a humorous backdrop to their crib assembly misadventures.
In the end, they managed to put the crib together, and Dean stepped back, wiping his hands on his jeans. "Finally," he said, "I thought this thing was gonna be the death of me."
The room was filled with laughter as they admired their handiwork. The crib stood proudly in the corner, a symbol of the changing times in the lives of the Winchester brothers.
As the song played its final notes, Dean couldn't help but smile, realizing that sometimes, even the toughest hunters could be defeated by a simple piece of baby furniture.
“Son of a bitch,” Dean said one last time as he dropped the wrench again, making both Y/N and Sam laugh hysterically. "Give me a goddamn drink!"
Sam gladly handed him a drink, as Y/N laughed sweetly at her handsome hunter, it was all right with the world.
