When portraying romantic or sexual scenarios involving your OC, do you aim to inspire a particular response in the reader or viewer? Whether a warm fuzzy feeling, or getting really quite turned on (or possibly both)?

I don't actually really write anything (neither romantic/sexual or otherwise) currently about my ocs, and vanilla gpose can only get you so far when involving more than 1 character ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

But if I were to actually put in words some of the scenes I've toyed around with in my head, I thiiiink it really depends on the scene? Fuzzy feelings for cute fluffy scenes, other for spicier stuff, melancholy for some angstier scenes. I currently prefer to think about more upbeat scenes for my ocs, so I guess my theoretical writing would lean more on the warm fuzzy side? Maybe some spice, if I ever figure out how (I've thought about some short ficlets for Hawu'li but I've yet to find the motivation to actually start or get over the fact that writing in foreign language is a whole another skillset than writing in your native one).

And as a kind of sidenote: I'm probably super selfish with my writing haha, but I feel like, if the words get ME to react in a way I want (like that warm fuzzy feeling for some cute fluffy scene for example), that's good enough. If others feel the same while reading, good! If not, eh, not much lost.

Please forgive the wait time for answer, I wanted to be able to give this ask the time it deserves.

First, what a thoughtful ask! I'm so thankful to be on the asklist for this

Now to the actual answer...

My most favorite days were the ones I spent with animals, but one specific day comes to mind.

It was the second day of our of my last camping trip with my dog. We were in a new place, with a large field and a beautiful stream running through it. I woke up to the sounds of birds and leaves rustling in the wind, with my dog happily snuggled up to me. Then I made breakfast and coffee on the fire, and a chipmunk joined me - my dog loved to see small animals and we have chipmunks in our yard so he's used to them. I read for a little bit while my dog enjoyed the sun and the forest sounds. He was already quite old by that point, so he laid and took everything in. Then we had a stroll through the field and he got the tiniest flowers I've ever seen stuck on his fur and it made me laugh. When we arrived at the stream, he splashed around a little while I soaked, and we walked back to camp. It started raining just after, and we spent the next few hours snuggled up in our tent, enjoying the pitter patter of water on the canvas. I read some more, he napped.

I'm pretty sure my perfect day involves napping, an animal, coffee and time to read.

3). Are they an outsider? Do they feel like one?

Jannu feels like an outsider but she's very good at hiding it. She never felt she fit in with the other progenies, but she assume she'd grow out of it... but she never did. She was always deeply interested in the human gods, namely Grenth. Joining the Priory was the best thing for her because she finally started to feel more "normal." She still has a hard time connecting with people and relies way too much on sarcasm that can come off as sardonic and mean.

8). Do they enjoy the spotlight or try to hide in the shadows? Are they actually well-known?

Iona hates the spotlight and was constantly in it during her time as commander. She never hated people knowing who she was, she hated that they felt free to fling their opinions at her as if she were a message board and not a human being. She hates the lack of empathy others have and that was a big reason for her stepping down as commander.

12). Generally, what's most people's first impression of them? + What impression do they *want* to leave on others?

(ahh i love this question) Kinda circling back to the first answer, Jannu's first impression is usually "wow she's.... a lot." and that would kill her to know. Sometimes it's meant negatively, sometimes not. But she's constantly aware of how m u c h she is and she secretly hates it, but has no idea how to tame herself. She wants to be the cool, calm, collected creature (sorry I had to add another c) but she knows she'll never be mysterious and cool because her mouth operates on a constant loop.
