what do you call that aro grief when you can watch your friend leaving you in real time (not even for a relationship! 20s work and life and everything) and you wonder /hj if you were in a relationship with them could you lock them down and ask them to stay
(Musing how it feels so much more selfish asking a friend than a partner to keep you in their life. Like, I can’t offer you anything and I don’t want anything from you (in the way allos *want* dates, kisses, that possessiveness) but just please don’t go.
to be honest, it's the kind of thing that in my opinion would be selfish in a romantic relationship too. possessiveness is a problem. the difference is in committed romantic relationships it is typically far more acceptable and expected that you discuss big life changes with each other and make compromises for the other person, if that's what you want.
it does suck, though, to drift apart from friends for any reason and feel like you can't express how much it hurts. you can't make someone stay, no matter what, but i think expressing how you feel (that you want to stay in one another's lives as much as possible) is worth it. it's difficult and vulnerable, but it really is worth it. and if it's really not possible to stay together at all, it can be the first step to processing that grief. leaving things unsaid is something you may regret.

Aspec men deserve much more respect and recognition in the aspec community than they receive. They often face a different form of aphobia specific to them ("men are naturally sexual they can't be ace" "all men are unromantic that's not unique") this rhetoric is spouted by many, even members of our own community and I hope for a day where that is no longer the case. As an ace and demiro woman (demigirl but that's beside the point) I want to encourage folks to take the time to give the aspec men in their lives support and to the aspec men reading, you are who you say you are no matter what people say and you deserve the world. I'm sorry for the ways in which toxic masculinity has harmed you. You are a valued member of the aspec community and the queer community as a whole. No ace or aro person is broken and neither are you. I'm sorry if anyone has ever told you otherwise.

Being AroAce and having aesthetic attraction is funny sometimes. I think a lot of people are attractive but I don’t want to do anything about that information.
aesthetic attraction can be super weird sometimes

Arospec acceptance leaving peoples' bodies the moment an aro person describes themselves as loveless and/or aplatonic and doesn't actually "make up" for their lack of attraction by platonically loving other people a lot

I’m aroace and was just browsing the aroace tag when I came across a few exclusionist posts & now I’m feeling… idk. Weird, I guess.
Am I welcome on this blog, even though I’m also ace? I’ve been reblogging posts from here because I recently realized I was aro and wanted to engage with & explore that side of my identity, but if as many aro people as they indicated don’t want aroace people around in their aro spaces, would it be better to just… leave the aromantic tag and blogs altogether? I don’t want to take away from people who are aroallo. I’ve seen it done time and again and don’t want to be some kind of… invasive species or something.
(sorry this was so long and rambly.)
anon. I am holding your face so gently. you belong in aro spaces. don't let exclusionists tell you otherwise. your experience is unique and valuable and there is not a single romantic, sexual, or gender orientation that takes that away. I promise that every aro is welcome on aromanticofficial because this is a space for every aro on the arospec.

Kinda random poll because I’ve been thinking about this recently:
(If you want to elaborate (potentially including where on the aromantic spectrum you are), I’d be super interested in reading that)
