I know some dickheads have now decided that Judaism is the "bad, violent, terrorist religion" and Islam is the "good, peaceful" one, which is only to be expected of white people, but how much of an issue is it currently? Like I've seen some USAmericans sharing how the Islamic faith shapes Gazans values and perseverance (good) except with that distinct white hippie "I'm about to imprint on this like the world's most racist duck" vibe (bad), but I didn't think they're already turning on Judaism in numbers.

Do they realize that Christianity is also the same kind of comfort to Christian minorities in Asia and Africa? That it was Buddhists that genocided the Rohingyas in Myanmar and Tamils in Sri Lanka? That Hindu fundamentalists are even now trying to ethnically cleanse Muslims in India? How Hindus and Christians are terrorized and persecuted in Pakistan? That Muslims have a history of persecuting and ethnically cleansing Jews too?

Really tired of asking y'all to be normal about people's religions man. There's no religion that's inherently violent or exceptionally peaceful. It's just like any other ideology that becomes a weapon in the hands of ethnic power. Interrogate power, not religion, and respect people's belief systems insofar as they aren't in your business.

Edit: I've amended the "long history" of Muslim persecution of Jews because it might be misleading in the current political climate. Zionism and antisemitic Arab nationalism are twin births resulting directly from Christian colonization, and Islamic empires tended to actually be more tolerant of other religions compared to Christianity, especially Judaism, which was considered a sibling religion. Antisemitism wasn't ideologically entrenched in Islamic tradition. It's simply that ethno-religious power will lead to ethno religious domination and intermittent cleansing of minorities, and Islam is no exception. Humans be humaning always.

I found a fanart of Alastor being kidnapped by Striker, like Stolas in the episode "Western Energy" and I thought it would be a very good idea to develop.

Alastor is seriously injured by Adam's angelic powers and based on what he himself said in his musical breakdown at the end of the season, his powers seem to be restricted by his contract. The power scaling for Overlords is seemingly connected to how many souls they own and he hasn't taken an souls since his return, so it would be fair to assume that he is getting weaker. He's not the same Radio Demon from seven years ago. He would be an easy target, especially for a hitman who holds a deep hatred of powerful hellish entities such as Overlords and nobility of Hell.

Now, who would want to hire Striker for that? The Vees maybe? They are the only ones who could easily guess about Alastor's true state bc they saw the fight like it was a sports game. And it wouldn't be the first time they sent someone else to do the dirty work either, Sir Pentious is a good example of that.

If we combine this with Radioapple it would be even funnier bc Lucifer would fly out of the hotel in his seraph form to save his queerplatonic partner saying something like "nobody fucks that deer but me"

Hi, I’m new to the fandom and thoroughly confused by all the JC hate? I started with the live action, then watched the donghua and just finished the book. Maybe I missed something- but everyone in the story, including some of the juniors, get messed up one way or the other from the whole experience and no one is really to blame? (Except all the Bad Dads™️)… but why all the hate for baby boy in particular?? And why the haters using his tag lmaoo sigh

Lmao tell me about it. Haters using his tag is probably the worst thing about this situation because I don't really care if people don't like him, it's when they have no fandom and tag étiquette that really pisses me off.

Basically i think the reason people dislike Jiang Cheng so much is because he is the one of the two people still alive who Wei Wuxian has had a direct negative impact on (with the other of course being Jin Ling) which means that people then cannot fully enjoy the wangxian ending, as the suffering of Jiang Cheng is too apparent and raw. So they make him into a villian and hate on him in order to make Wei Wuxian (and wangxian overall) look better. They take his anger and hurt along with Wei Wuxian's lack of reaction and twist it to make Jiang Cheng look like he's overreacting and Wei Wuxian to be the victim.

Jin Ling doesn't get this level of hate (the fact he gets any hate at all is beyond me) but when he does get hate it's about the character before "forgiving" Wei Wuxian. They only like characters when they conveniently get over all the pain and suffering that Wei Wuxian had caused them (jiang yanli, jin ling). And because Jiang Cheng really does not do this... well you can see for yourself.

Also not to make this about chengxian... but I'm gonna make this about chengxian. As I've said in the reblogs of a previous post, this one to be exact, for Wei Wuxian, loving Lan Wangji is easier, because Wei Wuxian has never done anything to Lan Wangji that needs a proper apology. Lan Wangji let's Wei Wuxian run away from his past because he wants to be his future, this makes things wayyy easier for Wei Wuxian.

And by extension it makes things way easier for the audience/reader as you never really get a proper insight into Wei Wuxian'd head.

We never get a proper insight into his feelings and relationship with Jiang Cheng, all we see is the nasty fall out as a direct result of Wei Wuxian's actions that he never properly answers for.

This makes people hate Jiang Cheng because of Wei Wuxian's brain filter and the fandom's habit of placing the blame everywhere except where it's due.

This is all down to the way that the story was written (as a romance novel that just happened to have extremely detailed side characters) and with the focus on only the main character's point of view, making it so that more thinking is involved in the sympathy of certain characters and that some people just simply do not want to or cannot do this said thinking.

This is really long and does not make sense, so I'm sorry 😭 but i hoped it answered your question at least a little!!

Why do you think the tides have slightly turned from "Elia deserves better than Rhaegar" to shipping her and Rhaegar together? Like what is the psychology behind these people because I've seen some of them like/reblog anti Rhaegar posts while also shipping Rhaegar x Elia at the same time.

hey anon! my thoughts are a bit messy, but i’ve done my best to explain them coherently :)

so, rhaegar was the best man anyone could have when elia was alive, and most people want the best for their favs. he was considered the most handsome, didn’t have a bad personality, and he was crown prince—meaning elia was almost queen, which is often seen as the greatest role a woman can have. the narrative also treats rhaegar as a beautiful, tragic, haunting figure, and elia actually had this very aesthetically pleasing man all to herself at one point! she was married to him, had children with him, and her life was so close to perfect! but rhaegar just had to go and ruin it. 😠

for many elia stans, if rhaegar hadn’t fallen in love with another woman (they want him to have been a completely different character), then everything would’ve been perfect, and elia would’ve had the best, most desirable life. however, that’s not what happened—elia met a very tragic end, and as a result, these stans feel double the bitterness. because of this bitterness, they blame rhaegar for everything (even though it’s not logical to do so), but he’s just too ‘perfect’ to let go of. so, for years these stans have made rhaegar revolve around elia, filling his tag with posts about her out of bitterness. so, i do believe that this obsession with rhaegar x elia has always been there, but i think it’s become a more favorable stance on the elia stan side of the fandom because of a mix of reasons.

plus, rhaegar is one of the few canon relationships we know elia had, since she’s not much of a character. because of this, and the fact that most people don’t like to stray too far from canon, most elia stans are forced to focus on rhaegar, which has created an echo chamber. basically, if a sentiment about elia and rhaegar’s relationship becomes popular, then the whole elia stan side of the fandom will likely regurgitate the sentiment. (also, this desire to stick close to canon is likely why the elia x arthur ship was so popular. while it’s a total crack ship, it had good aesthetics, and since elia and arthur at least knew each other, it allowed the stans to create their perfect fanfiction whilst sticking it to rhaegar. but remember, elia was actually married to rhaegar and had children with him, so while arthur is cool, rhaegar was always ‘top dog,’ meaning arthur would never be able to match up to rhaegar to most elia stans. also, the arthur x elia crack ship is likely her second most popular ship, which just shows how little elia stans have to work with, so they’re always forced to eventually return back to rhaegar for a lot of things.)

however, even if the elia x rhaegar ship gains more popularity, these stans will never stop hating rhaegar because he wasn’t ‘perfect’—and he wasn’t perfect because he didn’t love elia. plus, rhaegar loving another woman and supposedly kidnapping her is what began the war that led to elia’s tragic death. that’s bitterness times 1000. and while i don’t actually blame rhaegar for the war, i do think that this is how an elia stan sees it. i also don’t view rhaegar’s complex relationship with elia as a bad thing—it’s actually a very realistic take on an arranged marriage between two decent people. but most elia stans will never be able to get over the fact that they almost had everything, which is why many have it out for lyanna, as they consider her a thief who ruined their ‘perfection.’

tbh, that might be why so many elia stans are so obsessed with the idea that rhaegar only got with lyanna because of the prophecy—they don’t want to believe that rhaegar actually loved a different woman and not their perfect self insert elia. that’s a bit mean of me… but i don’t know what else one would call the ‘elia’ elia stans have created.

now that i’ve laid all those thoughts out, i’ll try to explain why the tides seem to be turning… i think it may have something to do with the ‘targaryens are all evil and bad’ sentiment losing popularity. i think this shift has occurred due to a mix of factors, such as years of fandom fights and fandom cycles leading to the targs being more liked now than before. it helps that canon doesn’t actually condemn the targs/favors them quite a bit, and the influx of new targ fans from HOTD has also contributed. this combination of reasons seems to have shifted the way the mainstream fandom discusses all the targaryen characters, including rhaegar. so, with this shift, it’s only natural that some elia stans/elia x rhaegar shippers—who’ve always been there—are using this opportunity to push their agenda. while these stans still hate rhaegar and see him as the bad guy, they just can’t let go of him. and as the mainstream fandom moves away from the anti targaryen sentiment, these smaller corners of the fandom, which tend to be echo chambers, are also affected, which has therefore led to a rise in rhaegar x elia shippers and the ‘shifting tide’ that you’ve also noticed.

Lovely Zeus & Ares discussion; what do you think about Ares — despite it all — growing up to be just like his father as a parent? I'm thinking of them on the axis of two fathers who are rather ruthless and often depicted as cruel men by modern interpretations but who, within myths, show that they would do anything for their children.

(Hi! Sorry this took so long, I had a hectic two days of back-to-back night classes ^^)

Honestly, I think Ares being a good father is a very innate trait, maybe inherited from Zeus but definitely also by choice, as Ares showcases Deimos and Phobos (who are part of his retinue!) around constantly in the myths and Eros in art, the same way Zeus does with Athena, Apollo, and sometimes Hermes. It's funny to read how Zeus as a king has his ruthlessness waver in the face of his children (ex. giving Apollo a lighter sentence for killing the Cyclopses, allowing Athena to continue defending her faves in the Iliad after scolding the council about divine intervention, etc) while Ares as a God uses ruthlessness and his war-loving ways to show his love (defending Aclippe from rape, handing war-gear to his Amazon daughters and active support for his children during war).

The same type of love, a different execution within the realm of their powers (and well to add on, both have lost and grieved sons in the Iliad. Zeus wanted to save Sarpedon but was stopped by precedent. After all, if he can save his own son but Ares or his other children can't save theirs, what message will that tell him? Also very keen that it is Hera who tells Zeus this, Ares' mother and his Queen.)

I know the Zeus-Ares relationship is often chalked up to "them never being close", but I (personally) think they were (Ares being described as dear to Zeus once) and drifted apart as Ares grew older and felt out of place from the "Prince" role he was supposed to have in Olympus, something Apollo and Zeus' other sons took up more gracefully. And in a way, It's a win for Ares as he gets to enjoy the battlefield to his heart's content.

There’s a lot of factors. They keep insisting Alastor is some stoic alpha male (no, I’m not kidding, some of their posts are tagged “alpha”), and they made a ton of posts about it…even though the blog was created the same day. But what set me off in particular is the comment they made in a reblog of some cute Radiostatic fan art: that Alastor would never do that. And yeah, he probably wouldn’t in canon, but if the reason given is “he’s too alpha male”, then I’ve got a bone to pick.

I provided screenshots of Alastor being sassy (Alastor in a nun outfit, Alastor doing that pose in his chair in Stayed Gone), and every time, it was the same thing. They made some comments about how I should “follow the Lord”, but I ignored it. Now, I don’t bring it up much, but I’m non-denominational Christian, and my friend that got me into Hazbin in the first place is Catholic. Sure, Proverbs 31 rocks, but this was next level. That’s when I knew this was either the most insecure man on earth, or a bot. I’m leaning towards the bot theory.

They also kept calling me—and everyone else that disagreed with them—a troll. So I became one. I’m talking the whole package, memes and anon hate alike. At that point, I was just having fun with it. After all this time playing nice in fandom, I got to return to my bitchgirl roots. Then I got tired, reread a really good fic series, and moved on.

If you ever want to see the most out-of-character takes on Alastor ever, they’ve got it in spades. But be warned, they made a comment about Angel being a “weak, weak man”, so who knows what other unhinged character takes they’ve got.

You know what that has been bugging me recently

This has a lot to do with how the adults are written (in a Negative Light.)

After rewatching the toh I understand that it’s made for adolescence audience which is fine & dandy.

But do you have to demonize the adults, and how there written effects the viewers and fans,

to have popular characters have sympathy for them, putting the blame on the adult figures.

Glossing over the fact they were talked rudely and foul by the fandom is truly unacceptable,

making the teen characters feel favorable, overshadowed the character progression of adults (down below good 4 examples.) of that show,

I know it’s a kid show, and you love your fan favorites & Certain characters, cause of how teens and kids want to have freedom & do what they want,

But what we watch or absorb in media can take a good or bad role in how we act towards people who raise us in households, be it birth, or founding family.

but God damn! This show shows how I hate adult disease spread to fans and viewers, leading to more to be desired for the main 4 observed characters.
