Ok so this mf was SUPPOSED to be a febuwhump fill for Day 5- Rope Burns but it grew legs of its own and wound up as circa 700 words of Dream being Traumatized ™️ and Hob being Understanding and Nice to this stranger who just ran into his cafe on the verge of a panic attack

The man holds his hand out across the table. “I’m Hob.” Dream looks at it. “Dream.” “Are you alright, Dream?” Dream suppresses a flinch, looking away. What does he answer? Yes, thank you for asking? No, I was kidnapped and tortured by a madman while my parents didn't care enough to even call the police? Instead he answers, “Do you make it a habit to confront customers about their personal lives?” Hob laughs, making Dream’s chest feel weirdly light. “Only when they look like they need it. Call it a character flaw.”

in all my feelings again about publicity n overwatch. the sheer marketing aspect of it. covers of magazines, cartoons, interviews, random civilians grilling them. they're heroes, they're not politicians or bureaucrats. leaders in their fields and dressed in the overwatch blues.

Hi lumi <3 sorry to hear you've got the flu but I hope you feel better! You just get Ghost's voice and character right and I wanted to know how you do this so well? In and out of the military setting, you just get it and I love reading whatever you write for him!

Re: Ghost's "voice." Hmm, I'm not really sure how it works myself, tbh. I obv have moments where I'm oscillating between would he say this? or would he speak at all? and I think it takes a fair bit of practice. I'm really glad you resonate with the voice I've chosen for him, but I think I've found it's more important to be consistent within the context you've set, more than anything.

For example, I don't think a verbose, expressive Ghost makes sense within what little we've seen in the canon, but at the same time, we see him be a little more open, a little funnier, when he lets his guard down. Both are equally Ghost, but the context is key.

I also read a lot of Ghost fics to help me re-contextualise, so that obv helps as well. If you're interested, I recommend authors like @/ceilidho, @/peachesofteal, @/kneelingshadowsalome, @/yeyinde and @/sprout-fics. They really have his voice down, but in any case, their works make for wonderful reading! In particular, I think Lev (@/yeyinde) nails Ghost's body language as well!

yeah the sexual dimorphism is a tired thing and i side-eye anyone and everyone who tries to justify it in any way

it's actually part of why i love the dracthyr, funnily enough. the female/male models are COMPLETELY indistinguishable and they need to apply that idea to every other race yesterday

hi there! im curious about Eldritch Dream/Hob kidfic 👀

Okokok so this one was based on an ask from Gabe's blog (i think if you go back in her creator thread i have more snippets) but basically my premise is:

Hob is a lonely child, and one day this weird baby eldritch being (Dream) shows up in his room. They play and fall in love and soon wind up having a human and eldritch wedding in the forest. Dream gets kidnapped soon after (unsure if Hob sees it or not) and Hob goes on to live his life. About 10-15 years later, Hob is an adult about to get married to somebody else (who he doesn't love), they're standing at the altar. And lo and behold who shows up at the wedding but a newly escaped Dream who has come to find his husband? They live happily ever after

Here's a snippet 🥺:

D’you wanna play blocks with me?” The boy blinked in surprise, glancing between him and the colorful bricks. Hob smiled, reaching over to pat the floor across from him. Slowly, carefully, the boy walked over to stand in front of him. The shadows seem to move with him, to Hob’s fascination. He’s so cool, Hob thinks delightedly. “Sit down! I’ll show you how to play.” Hob starts arranging his blocks, setting half aside for the boy. He tilts his head, and sits, copying Hob’s position. Hob pushes a bunch of blocks in front of the other boy, who has a vaguely puzzled look on his face. The boy reaches out to touch one as Hob is pulling away. Their hands brush, sending a spark up Hob’s arm. The boy looks up questioningly. He is quiet, but that's okay. Because, as Hob has been exasperatedly told numerous times, he can talk enough for at least two people. So he launches into a tirade about block colors and stacking methods and stuff he has built. It is during this first proper meeting, Hob breathlessly explaining, and the other boy clutching blocks to his chest, that Hob decides he is going to marry him.

if max ever got added to overwatch 2, what do you think his movement/abilities would be like? i would see him as damage personally, but also i want him to be a support hero. i think it would awesome to have another evil support hero.

I'm not sure! Talon does need another support hero and I've always thought of him as a utility support, but I wouldn't complain about him being a DPS either. I've always imagined for him to have some smoke based abilities or have something with his casino motif (like cards or poker chips) going on, though that's as far as I could think of cause he's kinda... Just a guy LOL. If he does become a hero I do hope they tweak his design a lil bit, his silhouette doesn't really stand out aside from his head.

I've seen other people say they could give him a tablet device or something but that seems really complicated especially with a game like OW. I've also seen people come up with chance based abilities for him but again that doesn't seem fair haha. If Blizz does decide to make him a hero (please) I'm super curious with what they'll come up with.

Mako : i think Mako's first impression of Nino was like ohh she's cool and kinda scary looking... we will win. and then saw her carry someone's boxes for no reason whatsoever and got like... Oh no. she's even worse than me.. we're going to die. inside does appreciate her kind heart even though she also thinks Nino needs to be a lot more cunning if they're meant to win!!! they are best friends.

Gault : i think Gault is both annoyed at and fond of Nino. Yes she does get in the way of his plans but he also knows she'd come to save him if anything happened as he said later on she's one of 2 favourite ladies so you can see them chilling and enjoying a bottle of wine

Blizz : Mako and Nino both find him sooo cute and unknowingly can be condescending at times but I don't think it bothers Blizz, and he likes them both a lot!!! Nino ofc respects that Blizz knows his thing as someone who can barely use a vending machine. she's like *o* watching him work ( actually this is her @ Mako too)

Torian : WELL.......... :) tldr I believe he really fell in love at first sight as for Nino it was a slow thing and if Torian had responded to any of her early exaggerated flirtations she'd likely not have fallen in love? she was kind of like...testing the grounds. Let's see if you ll jump the first willing woman way lol ( never said she doesn't have her flaws xd) but other than that they have similar hobbies and personalities like both soft-spoken and calm and would rather camp than find a hotel etc also it helps that Nino can't even make ice while Torian well - u know

Skadge : Honestly Nino accepts him into the crew as 'canon fodder' lol like the first thing to sacrifice if things go south or this person to take during dangerous missions bc whatever lol and while they'd never be friends, she understands that they had different lives and experiences that shaped them. He kind of brings an aggressive side to her which is admittedly necessary in their field of business.

Treek : i think they understand each other the most out of anyone being from very alien cultures that value many different things than themselves in their self-imposed exiles. While I can't say they are best friends in the traditional sense they are very close, like.... family.
