summary: the gang is at the graveyard and things start spiraling out of control as Tyler begins to loose his patience—actually, everyone does, one way or another.

not beta read bc I wanna sleep and we love Benlyn guys (nvm not ‘we’ it’s just me :d)

“Well, so far it looks like going with your ideas doesn’t work!” Tyler threw his arms at the air, stepping forward towards Ashlyn who flinched slightly at both the sudden movement and raise in volume. 

“Please,” Taylor put a hand on Tyler's shoulder, “Let’s calm down—” “—Calm down?! NO!” Tyler pushed her away with gritted teeth. “I CAN’T DEAL WITH THIS RIGHT NOW!” He grunted as he whipped his head back to Ashlyn.

“Hey!” Aiden stepped in front of Ashlyn. “Lower your voice, have some respect for her…” Aiden glanced at Ashlyn before looking back at Tyler with a strained smile. “Shut it, psycho! You of all people should NOT BE TELLING ME TO HAVE RESPECT FOR PEOPLE!” Tyler shouted back, stepping forward. Aiden’s eye twitched and as he was about to say something, he was interrupted by Taylor.

“Stop fighting!” She balled her hands into fists. “If we all just calm down and talk like civilized people, we can do this without shouting,” She tried to reason but the heat of the situation has grown too far. “I’m done with civilizied!” Tyler pushed Aiden away and jabbed his finger on Ashlyn. “You are taking this situation far too lightly!” He furrowed his brows as a vein began bulging on his neck. 

“I am not!” Ashlyn found it in her to shout back, stepping forward. “I am being calm about it, big difference,” She remarked with a slight tease in her tone which Tyler seemed to catch and grow even more aggravated. “You being calm isn’t getting us anywhere!” He pushed her back which caused her to stumble against Logan. 

“Tyler!” Taylor pulled him away.

“Ashlyn, you okay?” Logan helped Ashlyn find her footing as the twins continued to argue.

“Hey, watch where you put your hands, half-wit!” Aiden shouted at Tyler which began to cause a fight between the two.

“Ashlyn?” Logan reached for her but she stepped away. 

“They’re too loud!”  She thought as she slapped her hands over her ears and ran away from the scene. She gasped as she found herself inside a bus, running to a seat near the middle. She could still hear their shouting and she didn’t even know how far she was from them at that point but she had her hands over her ears as she sat down, her knees to her chest.

She let out shaky breaths as she tried to regain her composure and as she did, she lowered her hands and shut her eyes. “Breathe, Ashlyn…” She told herself before she felt the bus rock as someone got on. Then she snapped her eyes open as a loud crash was heard only to see Ben panting heavily at the entrance of the bus, chest rising and dropping repeatedly. His face was dark as a vein bulged on the side of his chin, his brows were furrowed in a way Ashlyn hadn’t seen before.

It…scared her.

Then she found out where the loud crash was from, his phone was on the floor with the screen cracked but her attention was diverted as Ben kicked the driver’s seat and took the headrest off before throwing it at the window.

Ashlyn flinched and clasped her hands over her ears as a little gasp left her lips, her eyes shut as she felt herself tremble.

Never had Ben scared her like that and now she wished she was in a different bus as she opened her eyes to see Ben picking up his phone and lifting it in the air, ready to throw it again before he spotted Ashlyn and the scary look in his eyes disappeared.

He dropped the phone and stepped away, his eyes widened and the corner of his brows knitted upwards. Then he quickly approached her, hands reaching out to her before he pulled them away, biting on his lips as his eyes darted around Ashlyn.

“B-Ben, I’m okay…” She lowered her hands, the trembling in her voice and body far too obvious for Ashlyn to hide. 

And it was far too obvious to convince Ben her words were true.

He backed away and rushed out of the bus and she watched as it rocked with his leave. She looked at the broken window before looking down at her hand, her fingers twitching slightly as the memory of the crash was so loud in her ears—they were still ringing.

Then the bus rocked again as Ben came back, his sketchbook and pencil in hand along with something else she couldn’t figure out until he was close to her. Her noise canceling headphones.

He put the pencil and sketchbook down which revealed it had an apology written on it as he offered her the headphones. “Thank you…” She took the headphones and removed her earbuds, the shouting from the middle of the graveyard suddenly coming back and making her ears ring. 

“Gah—” She dropped the buds and put her hands over her ears, eyes shutting and knees closing in as she tried to silence the shouts. Then she felt Ben’s hand over hers and she opened her eyes to see he was in front of her. He had worry painted all over his face and guilt in his eyes.

Now she was beginning to feel guilty.

She watched as he let go of her hands and put the headphones on her head and she let go of her ears, letting the noise canceling headphones do their job. Ben’s chest dropped as he puffed air out his nose. He picked up the sketchbook and pencil and began writing something before turning it to Ashlyn.

“I’m sorry, I didn’t realize you were also on the bus and I was being reckless. I didn’t mean to hurt you.”

Ashlyn felt her heart melt at the apology and she looked back at Ben. “It’s okay,” Her voice wasn’t as shaky as it was before since she’s finally got ahold of herself. She watched as he looked away with his eyes dropping slightly.

She could only guess what he was thinking, something that wasn’t written in his updated apology.

“Ben, are you upset because I saw you like that?” She asked and his eyes snapped to her. “It’s okay, we all have our moments,” She assured him but he shook his head and faced the sketchbook toward him as he flipped the page and began writing something.

“You were already overwhelmed with the shouting and I only added more to that. And I could’ve gone rogue on you, people have their moments but mine are dangerous, I could’ve hurt you even more.”

Ashlyn felt her heartstrings get tugged at as she read the message and she looked back at Ben to see his eyes beginning to well. “But you didn’t…” She patted the spot beside her, offering for him to sit with her but he hesitated at first before sitting down.

“I’m okay, Ben, you didn’t hurt me,” She turned her head to him and felt even more disappointed as he shook his head, frowning as he continued to write.

“I should’ve stopped Tyler from pushing you, even Aiden was able to fight back but I couldn’t do anything to help you. You do so much for us and I can’t do enough because of my mistakes that I could’ve repeated. I let anger take over me.”

“You do a lot for us too,” She told him with a soft voice. “You heal our wounds and you already helped me by bringing me my headphones, don’t look down on yourself,” She turned to him and felt happier now that his face has lightened. He nodded slowly but his gaze was still averted.

“I forgive you, Ben. And I’m sure you would never hurt me.”

Ben finally looked back at her with soft eyes as a small smile grew on his face. 

And she felt herself do the same.

Anything that scared her was gone as she could only find comfort in this moment, all negative feelings long gone.

LIGHTENING FOXXXX

Yeah, it's kind of mean, but yk.

I also wanna lowkey use this design for a different AU I just thought of

were animals or something. The concept is that plot is normal, Ashlyn goes on the bus, sees Aiden and Ben sitting behind her usual spot, yada yada ya....BUT-- Ben is more involved with Ashlyn in the situation. Every time Aiden bothered her, Ben would always somehow end up next to her, even if he doesn't mean to. He doesn't speak, so Ashlyn doesn't know what his intentions are.

Then, when they go to Savannah and go in the Sorrel Weed House (or somewhere else ig bc it can't always fit the sorrel weed house </3), something happens and the gang end up in a dark area. While there, something causes a panic, and something bites Ashlyn. After heading back to find teachers and get her treated, they head to the hotels to rest. This time, Ashlyn gets really weird visuals in her sleep. Then, BOOM, lightening strikes outside, and it wakes Ashlyn up.

Idk maybe she throws up, and while she doesn't think much of it, it'll soon affect her later on.

She probably finds out Ben is some strange canine "spirit" who was also bitten when he was young, and that he accidentally bit her in the panic back at the place they were touring. She gets upset but knows blaming won't help. So, with the help of the others in the group (who soon found out after Aiden was awkwardly trying to hide Ashlyn's fox form), they try to figure out the origins of these canine spirits who combine with people bitten by these spirits. Maybe the others will get bitten too (voluntarily or involuntarily).

Maybe it's bc I've been seeing a lot of WolfWalkers on youtube...

I’m not completely against Aidlyn and can still see it happening however i agree with this so much Taylyn n Tyden >>>> Aidlyn. Honestly i think that some of the aidlyn shippers have actually gone so far, and honestly, when i first started getting into sbg i liked aidans character, might’ve even considered him a favourite but my god he is everywhere 😭😭😭 like he’s cool but so is Taylor or Ben ykkk???? It’s low-key made me start to dislike him a bit, especially when on ao3 or smth, there are so many angsty aidan fics and i can see why but bro- What abt the twins who had to raise themselves or the guy who we don’t know anything abt bros parents (logan, ig he ain’t a fan favourite so makes sense for the lack of fics but also come on brooo), or hell, even the main character who was essentially isolated her whole childhood (i get it was willing but still yk?) , where’s the (angsty) fics for them??? (ik i’ve gone off topic but ykkk, hopefully y’all get what i’m saying?)

back to Aidlyn, again, I get it’s the “most likely ship to happen”, but honestly i wouldn’t be surprised if it were to do with how big it is in terms of the fandom, if other ships were bigger, (And i’m not talking like Benlor or Tylenol cause those r just the ships to go with Aidlyn) i wouldn’t be surprised if they got more moments, but cause aidlyn is such a large ship, Red may feel more inclined to give them moments over other smaller ships (like Ashlyn n Ben or smth).

Honestly Anybody (aside from the twins n cousins) could honestly be shipped with each other and still have similar attributes to what make people like aidlyn. (Ik op alrdy said so but like the doomed couple dynamic, shit applies to all of em)

Overall, I agree that Aidlyn is not the best ship in sbg, and that people get way to into it. Personally i would rather have sbg focus on the actual story rather than pushing the two together, and honestly I think the aidlyn hype stems from them being a straight couple involving the seemingly fan favourite and the main character. If People were this hyped over Logan, i’m sure that Ashlyn x Logan would be a bigger ship too.

So yes, if you read this far then thanks (??? 😭😭) and If you’re gonna leave hate or wtv i beg just move on innit, seems pointless.

hello school bus graveyard tumblr, i am inviting you to read to my 3 page essay on aidelyn fucking SUCKS. feel free to block me after this, feel free to hit the ‘keep reading button’, or feel free to move on with your day

1. my first reason why aidelyn sucks is because of fake ass chemistry. i know red one time said they have the most chemistry, but if you put two characters together constantly, then obviously they’re going to have ‘chemistry’. this tweet made by @/tragedry pretty much sums it up i would think

like how are you going to say they have chemistry when you ALWAYS put them together, but it’s not even actual chemistry.

2. my next reason is that ashlyn is lesbian and aiden is gay (this reason is somewhat a joke, headcanon what you) but, genuinely please tell me in what universe is aiden clark going to like a woman and in what universe is ashlyn banner going to like a man. (unless it’s ashler, then that is accepted)

3. aidelyn is quite literally the BIGGEST propaganda EVER in this fandom. (benlor being the second biggest, but I’ll make an essay on them later) i see people who read sbg, and they second ash and aiden interact they go absolutely insane. and it’s like, be so for real.

4. having them be the canon ship can probably be considered lazy story writing. going back to the point on how they are literally always interacting, instead of exploring other character dynamics we decide to stick a singular dynamic instead.

5. if you think aidelyn is good because they’re “a doomed couple” let me tell you a little secret, quite literally ANY ship between the main 6 can be considered a doomed couple, and don’t think i really need to go into detail on why.

6. they woule’ve never been friends in the first place if i wasn’t for savannah, if you think about, if ashlyn would’ve simply said no the the field trip, sbg probably wouldn’t even exist. and if it did, it would be one hell of a boring story

7. aiden basically stalks ashlyn at the beginning of the webtoon, and stalker x stalked is one of the weirdest tropes ever and if you’re like ‘but he’s not actually a stalker’ he could definitely be considered one even if it’s not through out the whole series.

Sleeping/cuddling with Aiden is a very humbling experience.

He watches tiktoks with you because he thinks it’s a bonding experience while you guys snuggle. (just ignore his fyp it’s cursed…)

Before you guys cuddle, you have to force him to take his contacts out because every cuddle sesh ends up with the two of you falling asleep.

But when he sleeps with them in his eyes become all dried when he wakes up.

(Red also confirmed Aiden to have contacts, because he’s blinder than a bat, and it’s also why his eyes are red because his contacts are coloured.)

Like Ashlyn, he drools… but not just a small bit like the ginger. He’s drooling fucking RIVERS.

He moves about in his sleep, like a lot. And when he settles, it’s only for like a maximum of 4 mins before he’s squirming around like a worm again.

BLANKET HOG ALERT!! WEE WOO WEE WOO. If you ever wake up cold, you’re gonna turn to see Aiden with YOUR OWN blanket cuddling up with the whole damn blanket cuz he srsly subconsciously wrapped himself a cocoon.

When you guys are cozying up together, he’s literally in top of you like the human version of a weighted comforter.

And if you feel suffocated with him on top of you, he’s pressed up to your like a leech looking for affection. I’m talking limbs tangled together and every thing.

he really enjoys doing soothing activities with you such as pottery, painting, and baking

Ashlyn is a(n overcooked) ruby and Ben is her sapphire. Ashlyn was kept or courtesy of her court, I forgot if it was Blue or Yellow, because Pink asked, or something like that. She was also strong, I guess.

While out, they get ambushed or something like that, maybe they were called by Blue Diamond before getting ambushed by Rose and Pearl. The other rubies get knocked out leaving only Ashlyn by herself.

She doesn’t reach Ben in time as he’s getting attacked but instead of getting poofed, his gem gets damaged and gets cracked. That’s when Ashlyn finally stops the intruder or if it was from Pearl, Rose would have stopped her.

This is just kind of an imagine scenario and can be platonic or not. Also, I don’t know if Ben should be overcooked too but I don’t really care at the same time

•you're not sleeping. at all. he will make it his mission to keep you up all night.

•will not be making dinner, he can't cook for shit. the two of you end up just ordering pizza instead of making the effort to cook.

•the two of you will most likely leave the house for some reason or another– wether that be snacks or something else.

•he's super cuddly when he's tired, so he'll practically cling to you when he's ready to sleep. usually doesn't rest before the shift, but tries to when he's with you because he doesn't want you to be tired in the phantom realm.

•either can't sleep or knocks out after the seven hours is up. if he's exhausted enough to sleep, it'll be the best sleep of your lives.

•will gladly allow you to do face masks, makeup, etc. he thinks it's fun, and likes seeing you happy.

•absolutely painting your face if you let him. if you don't, there's a good chance he does it while you sleep.

•overall, very chaotic. there's a 90% chance you'll wake up with face paint the next morning.

•either conks out at like 9:30 pm or stays up until dawn.

•you two will definitely be cooking/baking. he's an amazing baker, so whatever you make will taste amazing. (aiden's gonna come downstairs and eat like half of it in the middle of the night.)

•a big cuddler. even when he's sleeping, he has an iron grip on you. it comforts him, knowing that you're there with him.

•will spoon if you want but it isn't his favorite.

•matching pj pants. probably like black and grey plaid ones or something like that.

•usually starts winding down around 9 pm. he'll sit in bed and draw for half an hour or so, preferably with you cuddled up next to him.

•loves cuddling. he relaxes immediately as soon as his arms are wrapped around you and your legs are tangled with his.

•falls asleep pretty quick. as soon as he allows himself to relax, he's out like a light.

•half expects your to just wear his clothes to bed. he's shocked (and slightly offended) when you bring your own clothes. it doesn't matter, since you usually end up in one of his hoodies or shirts anyways.

•goes to bed around 10:30-11:00. he's usually the one cleaning up dinner or something like that, so he doesn't usually wind down until 10.

•sleeps in a pitch black room with no noise. any stimulation will make it practically impossible for him to sleep.

taylor hernandez:

•is so excited. she loves being around you, so being able to end her day with you bring her joy.

•movie night! you guys spend a bit too long picking a movie, and you both end up falling asleep about halfway through.

•a huge cuddler. she usually holds a stuffed animal when she sleeps, but now that you're here she can hold you instead!

•loves spooning– especially when she's little spoon. having your arms around her calms her down almost immediately.

•she says she wants to cook, but will probably get distracted and forget. you two will either end up eating tyler's cooking or ordering takeout at like 11:30.

•tries to get a good amount of sleep before the shift, so she tries to go to bed around 9:45-10:00. depending on how the day had been, you two either fall asleep super early or don't fall asleep at all.

•she tends to get night terrors, but she can calm herself down pretty quickly. when you're there, they either don't happen at all or are very rare.

•is super nervous and fidgety at first, but starts to relax and just focus on you the longer you're there.

•literally can't cook. at all. should not be allowed in a kitchen alone under any circumstances. he lets you cook dinner if you want to, but assures you that it's fine if you'd rather order takeout.

•sleeps pretty early, around 9:30. he really wants you two to rest before the shift so that you aren't tired and sluggish.

•he has a hard time falling back asleep after the shift, so he keeps a bottle of melatonin gummies in his cabinet and will offer you one if you need it.

•a light sleeper. if you move or pull away while you two are cuddling, he'll feel it and wake up immediately.

•you two probably won't leave the house, except to sit on the roof and stargaze. he spends more time admiring you than the sky and really hopes you don't notice.

•kinda nervous when it comes to cuddling. he probably has a tremor or something along those lines, so his hands are pretty much always shaky.

⠀ › ⠀they were freaked out when they saw you just recklessly eating off the flesh of each phantom and slicing all of them into pieces.

⠀ › ⠀at first you seemed like a maniac but the more they saw the more that ashlyn felt like you were doing it like you knew what you were getting into.

⠀ › ⠀as they were watching you assassinate each phantom and clear the area for them, aiden felt most fascinated and was about to jump in as soon as you killed them all until you started sucking on the phantoms flesh

⠀ › ⠀the group was looking at you with pure disgust (while aiden still had that smile on his face)

⠀ › ⠀logan stared at you, aiming his shotgun at you and as soon as the bullet almost hit, you flinched. then you were gone. gone?

“i’m offended.” you hissed, crossing your arms. your clothes were drenched in blood. as logan was about to shoot you again, you kicked his gun to the side and wiped the blood dripping on your chin with the back of your hand before licking it.

the others didn’t know if they should run but tyler confidently held his weapon at you “are you gonna be a problem?” he grit his teeth as he watched your smile fade “are you?” you asked, your hand curling into a fist.
