“Brock, it’s getting to the point where we’re gonna need to start thinking about baby names,” You said one day after he came back from practice. You just hit 32 weeks and you found out you would be having a daughter at 20 weeks. Now, it was setting in that you only had 8 weeks left of pregnancy, and you knew it would fly by. The last thing you wanted was to go into early labor and not have a name prepared for her. “I made a list.”

“Is this a serious list or a suggestion list?” Brock teased, knowing that you liked to joke about names in your earlier stages of pregnancy. 

“Are you saying none of my names are serious?” You started tearing up, thinking that he did not like any of the names you suggested, serious or not. “Ashley Purdy is cute.”

“I’m not talking about Ashley,” Brock laughed as he wrapped his arms around you and pulled you into his side. “I’m more so talking about Felony.”

“Felony Purdy would be cute if a felony wasn’t a crime!” You defended as you shot up. You looked down at your bump with a frown as you rubbed around it before glaring at Brock. “If you suggested anything good, maybe I wouldn’t get my hopes up for certain names.”

“You said Rosacea, and I countered with Rose and Rowan. What do you mean?” He laughed in disbelief, trying not to sound defensive or condescending. He knows your mental state has been fragile lately, and the last thing he wants is to hurt your feelings.

“Rose is such a common name, and I don’t like Rose Purdy,” You grumbled as you crossed your arms and leaned back into his side. “What about Calorie? It’s like Valerie but different.”

“Calorie? Please tell me you’re joking,” He chuckled in disbelief but immediately stopped when he noticed you were not laughing. In fact, you had tears in your eyes that were about to fall. “Wait, babe, please hear me out. Calorie, you do know what it means right?”

“It’s cute, Brock. You don’t have to talk to me like a toddler. I know what calorie means,” You sighed unhappily, but after a minute of him staring at you, you realized why he was straying you away from that name. “I stand corrected. What about Brie? That’s cute! Little Brie Purdy!”

“Brie as in Brie cheese?”

“And now you’ve ruined it,” You moaned, throwing your head back. “What about Merlot? I think that’s adorable.”

“You’re just manifesting our daughter to be a whiner,” Brock joked, but it fell flat to you. “Why don’t we stick with more traditional names? Like Elizabeth, Miranda, or Diana?”

“They’re too common!” You cried out as you turned to face Brock, holding his face in your hands. “We are never going to find the perfect name for her. I already feel like I’m failing as a parent, and I haven’t even started.”

“Maybe we could wait to see her, and it will just come to us?” Brock offered. “I would hate for us to find a name we like and take one look at her and think it doesn’t fit her, y’know?”

“Oh my gosh! You’re so smart, Brock! Why didn’t I think of that?” You gasped with a smile. 

“You just have a little bit of pregnancy brain,” Brock comforted as be placed a kiss on your nose, “Don't stress it too much. We’ll find the perfect name for her when she gets here. Until then, I don’t wanna hear you stressing over her name anymore, got it?”

“No promises, but I won’t settle on one,” You laughed as you finally leaned in to connect your lips to his.

When the time came, to say you felt unprepared would be the understatement of the century. You started early labor while Brock was at an away game, but his mom was a huge help. Through everything, she stayed by your side along with your support system, and together, they all helped you through the hours of pain you endured. Thankfully, he was able to make it by the time your daughter was born.

After a few hours of recovering, you decided that you were rested enough to hold your daughter, so that’s what you were doing. Listening to the Niners game that Brock had to leave early while she slept, you could not take your eyes off of her. She was the perfect combination of you and Brock. She had your hair color and his facial structure. Her eyes that were currently closed were bright blue, which the nurses told you would most likely get darker over time, but they were beautiful nonetheless. You could stare at her for hours, and you probably were because, at one point, Brock sat behind you to help you hold her up, noticing your arms start dropping.

In the comfortable silence, names flew around in your head, trying to see if any of them would stick with her. Brock was still sitting with you, looking down at her also thinking about names. Then, it was like a lightbulb went off, and the name you thought of was perfect. You were thinking that nothing else fit right, and this was meant to be her name. Brock caught onto the shift in your body posture as you pulled her closer to your body.

“Did you think of the name?” He whispered as he leaned his head onto your shoulder, tightening his hold around you and your daughter.

“Yeah, I did,” You said back just as quietly before turning away from her for the first time in forever to look at Brock. You muttered, “I think she looked like a Felony Purdy.”

“I swear if you’re serious,” He trailed off with a light laugh. “Please tell me you’re not serious.”

“No, I’m not. I’m just screwing with you,” You teased as you leaned back you bonk your head against his shoulder. “Can’t I make a joke?”

“I thought we were having a moment,” He laughed as he kissed your forehead.

“We are,” You pointed out before looking back down to your daughter. You smiled as you thought of the name again before looking back over to Brock seriously. “What about Emerson?”

“Emerson Y/n Purdy,” He said as if to test the name out before smiling wide. “I think it’s perfect. Just like you. Thank you for being the best partner and parent to our little Emerson.”

“Thank you for being the best partner and best supporter I could have during this journey,” You said sincerely. “And don’t worry, she will always be my little felony.”

“You know, some parents have cutsy names for their kids like munchkin, sugar bear, or ducky, but you want to nickname our daughter felony?” Brock replied in disbelief. 

“She needs to know what her almost-name was!”

Can we just take a moment to simp about the newest album drop by Black Veil Brides, The Phantom Tomorrow, released October 29, 2021. I know, I know, I maybe should have wrote this post like two years ago but really I had a lot to do in the meantime and wanted to give it the true justice this piece of art really deserves. This release is the second album drop since the band's decision to part ways with former bassist Ashley Purdy, (the first basically being a re-master of their former masterpiece debut album "We Stitch These Wounds", now dubbed cleverly, "Re-Stitch These Wounds") and now this! Can I just say, WOW-wowie-wow-wow-wowzers! omg I am just BLOWN away by what has gone into this piece of art and I feel blessed to be born in a time where I got to truly experience its release. Just wow. Welcome to the band Lonny Eagleton, with a resounding, please please don't ever leave.

Oh hey did you know that Black Veil Brides released a COMIC BOOK?! It apparently goes right along with this masterpiece of an album because WHY NOT? Siri, can you add "Buy The Phantom Tomorrow comic" to my to-do list? Hell yes. I bought Andy's Ghost of Ohio when it dropped so ya know ya girl is gonna hop this band wagon. And who wouldn't? With such an awesome story and a crazy ass cover like that? Name two people, I bet you cant. And if you can I don't believe you.

From the mouths of babes, as they say. And man is Andy a MAJOR babe. Anyhoo, I figured I would save ya'll a track-by-track personal breakdown because who can do it better than the guys themselves? Amirite? I will say this though, this album feels WHOLE. It feels full. It feels like a really well-rounded album. I'm not a musician myself, but I LOVE music, and I have been watching a lot of different bands grow and rise and it has been an absolutely AMAZING ride. But this band, what a well-rounded flushed out sound they have come to grow into as each individual has honed their craft or joined. And before any of you ask my personal favorite off this particular album is Torch. It's on my On Repeat on Spotify for a reason--but I digress...that brings me once again to Lonny.

Lonny Eagleton

Who is Lonny Eagleton you ask? Well, he's a sweet boy from Canada who joined the BVB family, and man does he fit RIGHT in. Well, his website Bio boasts he's a professional musician who has worked with multiple recognizable names in the industry, that he's done his fair share of arena/theatre based tours, and a plethora of other hidden talents all backed by a degree. I mean, that's impressive enough but man he is humble and sweet to boot! I don't think I am out of line when I say that the BVB family has scored big with this addition to the band--especially if the "The Phantom Tomorrow", and the latest ep drop (October 21, 2022) "The Mourning" are any proof of what is to come in the future.

Now that brings me to "The Mourning" EP which I am also very late to mentioning (at least here!). It's four tracks of powerful music that speaks from and to the soul directly. Clearly what went into this was some powerful storytelling, some genius mastery, and some amazing skill-work. Dare I say, that the older these boys get--the more they manage to master their craft? But it's true. And being someone from the sidelines watching them grow, has been a most satisfying experience--man am I PROUD to be in this fandom. NOT TO MENTION the totally amazeballs producer they have, Erik Ron who handled this ep and the previous album before this. Way to rock out with that cock out Erik!

"How the fuck is one so evil left to just proceed? All the luck and how deceitful that idle minds can be." Lyrics from Devil really hit close to home some days, especially if you're currently living in America (and I am). It's clear from the tone set by the melody of the guitars when the track first open-fires on your eardrums for an eargasmic explosion of what can only be described as pure Black Veil Brides energy. Straight from the speakers to your soul, Andy Black truly has a way with words and the boys on strings (Jake, Jinxx, and Lonny) really know how to nail it home and build a mood to a harmonious climactic point before bringing it smoothly back down again. And may I say, that CC has really just been on fire these last few albums? He is really kicking some ass behind that kit and I think it's fair to give him a mention for it.

In softer tones Saviour II was second on the EP and set a more serious and tender vibe. A soul bearing ballad needs to be on every album right? At least that seems to be a theme for BVB that I personally hope never dies. They do amazing with a good somber heartfelt melody and these new lyrics that sort of offer different softer, more human side to the Saviour we as a fanbase were used to. The first being: "So hear my voice, Remind you not to bleed. I'm here." the message being a strong voice offering a shoulder to lean on here. A superhero almost. Whereas, the second, "So I'm trying my hardest to be what you made, Like a court jester, my smile won't fade. Giving it all, rising to fall to my grave. Answer the call, living in thrall-You're the one born to save." Is a tooootally different vibe. Like someone human just trying to make it through each day. So-so so good.

The Revival is the third track on the EP and it unfortunately didn't get a video but is still really cool and definitely worth a mention. It feels like Saviour II worked right up into this song. I'm sure they did that on purpose but I can hear/see a story playing out before my very eyes. Maybe my imagination is running a little high, but they have a habit of writing a whole ass story and following it up with a rock opera--so I am not sure because I looked all over for like a track-by-track breakdown and didn't find one (so if anyone has one and can link one to me that would be sugar and spice!) but nevertheless the instrumentals in this song are fire but from 2:19-2:35 it is just the best musical soup I have ever tasted. There I said it. I can say it. It is hot fire.

That brings me to the final track on the EP, Better Angels. I think instrumentally, and melodically, Better Angels may actually be personally my favorite track. Lyrically it is one of the coolest things I have ever heard. I came from a really strictly and very strangely repressed religious background and when I hear the stories told in these songs tied up in some sort of religious metaphor it really resonates and I know I am not the only one in the fanbase that is dealing with these issues. "Go back to hell with all your demons-leave me alone to find the pieces inside my mind. They came in to control my life. And all the devils devour- Your better angels devour." Whether it comes from a religious place or not, that is a pretty fire chorus, you have to admit. Not to mention the absolute MELTDOWN I have inside my head when the guitars (2:35-2:50) fuckin slap my dudes! I am telling you, if you haven't heard it already, please do--your life will be more complete because of it. It's one of the prettiest things I have ever heard ringing in my ears.

Really can't wait to see what Black Veil Brides has in store for us next! I mean between the comic-book, the album, and the ep, I'm already pretty stoked and I literally have no fuckin clue outside what Andy has mentioned in recent interviews! But I will be keeping my eye out! you bet!

If it’s okay to ask, what’s your opinion on shipping idols? Like do you think it’s completely fine or only on certain levels or not at all or something else? When I first became a kpop stan I was a massive shipper and I was one of those annoying taekook shippers who would always say some stupid stuff in the comments section of something that doesn’t have anything to do with taekook. I’ve stopped shipping them and I no longer am like that with any ships. I only watch or read stuff to do with ships if I’m extremely bored and only for certain ships. I don’t mention ships often and I don’t make stuff about ships. But yeah I wanted to know how you feel about shipping idols?

Okay, so when I was younger like 16/17 I did use to kind of ship idols, honestly I have two biases per groups so I use to just watch like cute Ontae moments or Chanxing or Nieljoe, Niel and Ljoe from Teen Top, I miss Teen Top, 90's Love reminded me of a Teen Top song anyway. But I never genuinely thought they were an item or secretly dating. I just thought oh look my faves being cute together. I did use to write Ontae fanfiction but that was as far as I went it still exists out there, I'm actually still proud of the Vampire one, my best work. But I've grown past that.

But honestly shipping real celebrities isn't a kpop issue alone people would ship Gerard Way and Frank Iero and Ryan Ross and Brandon Urie, Andy Beirsack and Ashley Purdy, Kellin Quinn And Vic Fuentes, Vic Fuentes and Jaime Preciado, Hell even Gerard Way and Mikey Way, who are fucking Brothers don't get me started on Joe Jonas and Nick Jonas, why?? But I think no matter emo band or kpop group it can really cross a line.

Like if it's a joke that even they play along with then fine but keep it as a joke. But if you genuinely believe they are a couple, like the idea of them not being a couple makes you upset and you fight with Taeten shippers cause you think Winten is more real, and it's vicious for genuinely no reason. Then that's when it's crossed a line.

When you force it on the idols themselves and that's all you comment on their social media. Like we've seen it actually do harm to friendships where they won't even really engage with each other as normal. Overall I don't think it's a healthy thing to do for yourself or the idols themselves. You wouldn't want a stranger to write erotic fanfiction about you and your best friend who you see as a sibling right?

I thing Y/N fanfiction is slightly healthier if you can really separate fiction and reality cause it's no different then fantasizing or dreaming about a crush or writing in your journal about what kind of date you'd go on with the cute 10th grader with long blonde hair....his name was Jacob and we could have been something....anyway yeah I think it' s something that can just get really weird and really unhealthy mentally.

Ashley’s ‘Innocence’

Now I’m into my crime and criminology quite badly like it’s something I’m very fascinated in and was something I was gonna study at University. Now the reason why I’m saying this is because a lot what I’m gonna say is basic knowledge when it comes to offenders of any crimes, especially ones in which the offender is trying assert dominance and control over their victims - which in Ashley’s case this is very true going by the accounts made against him but also his general personality.

Now since the allegations have come out Ashleys immediate thought was to update and control his fanbase on the allegations and even (from screenshots I’ve seen) tried to make out the girls are crazed fans and that he never knew them. Now this is basic tactic of an offender, especially in regard to a celebrity - they have built their power and control on young fans and need them for his ego and to make him feel like he is untouchable.

Ashley had made numerous ‘innocent’ posts on various social media platforms - again someone who is truly innocent would not make so many proclamations of innocence since it does make them look guilty.

Ashley has made a police report against all those who have made allegations, now some of these are old friends or people Ashley actually knows. Why would he do this instead of trying to settle it quietly? Dominance and control - the aspect that he is untouchable and any other victims who wish to come forward against him. It’s a tactical move to squash another victims who may have even more evidence against in not coming forward - well nobody believed them so why would they believe me? Allegations have been made against numerous celebrities and I don’t like Justin Bieber but in recent days I have a lot more respect for him than Ashley. He has gone online and actually posted actual evidence that contradicts the allegation made against. He also said he was working with the police to solve the matter - not squash the matter like Mr. Purdy wishes to do.

He also targeted young women/girls and since they are fans of the band many of them probably have a lot of insecurities or vulnerabilities that Ashley can use to his will. For example, they may have been bullied at school, self harmed, eating disorders, never had a decent relationship, etc. This promotes the idea from the offenders point of view that he is doing them a favour - saving them from their own demons. In a few allegations it was also mentioned about birth control and pregnancy - from this it seems like Ashley only sees women as their traditional role (baby breeders and belong in the house.) This would explain why (and I mean no offence here) his main female friends are adult entertainment stars - this is when he feels most confident in himself because they’re profession falls in line with his traditional view of women - there for the mans pleasure and nothing more.

These are just the main points that I have developed with him but you are more than welcome to add your own thoughts. ❤️

The Purdy Posse FB Group Is Gone

For those of you wondering what’s going on with Isis, me and the Purdy Posse. The group will be gone as of 3 PM today. Isis believes the victims and she is a very good person. I have known this and that’s why I have not said anything. Due to her position I knew that she had to be careful about what she said and did until it was the right time. She created this group, not Ashley. He was brought in to be an admin. He has since been removed from that position, he never gave proof of his innocence in a sufficient way and with the mounting evidence from the girls who came forward and others there was no other option but to assume his guilt. 

He does not deserve a platform where he can manipulate others and potentially even find other victims. So that platform (at least one of them) has been taken from him. 

At least this is one real consequence Ashley will actually face, the loss of his group. 

This is the comment I left in the group for those who may no longer be in it (as I was added back by Isis after his removal yesterday)  “Hey, Ren. here. I get that this is not the most receptive audience, but here we go. Isis is right to do what she is doing, it has become increasingly clear over the past week that Ashley is more than likely guilty. The things he is accused of doing are horrific, and the sad truth is that you don't even know the half of it. I have actually spoken with the victims at length and even some that have not been able to share their stories. It is heartbreaking. 

The girls have given as much proof as anyone should need. Ashley has given next to nothing besides having two short minute videos and a post not even directly denying the allegations. The two people he put in his video both rely on him for housing or financial security and therefore could have been under pressure to say something. Then he deleted everything, yet the victims have only given more proof. There are legitimate police reports that have been filed. This man has been lying and conning people for years. He even took advantage of Andy when he was a literal teenager. He openly admits to wanting to steal his band away from him in an interview. He cheats people who work for him out of money and manipulates and tries to control everyone around him. Not just women. Look at everything that's come out and ask yourself is this honestly someone you want to support? 

He speaks horribly about his fans, calling them names and making fun of them. Yes, YOU GUYS. I have seen the texts and I have even posted some of them. These women are not lying. It's time to walk away from him and let him suffer the consequences of his own actions. 

Not to mention, this is someone with a pending DUI hearing that is still driving around drunk. He is endangering other's lives currently with clearly no regard. Evidence has come out that he holds racist views and expresses them to people in person. There is nothing you should be a fan of. 

He has tried to us his fans as a shield and relishes in them doing his 'dirty work' of attacking his victims for him. Shame on anyone who is bullying these poor women. 

Isis was the one who created this group, not Ashley. I agree with her not wanting her name attached to it at all. If he wants to make his own group that's his choice, but she worked so hard and he didn't pay her or really even thank her for anything she did. It is her RIGHT to decide what happens to this group, and getting rid of it is best. I have been friends with her for a while and she is a kind person. Please respect her and her decision.

Okay, if he has GENUINELY been proven innocent, as in... not just him saying he is... I will take it back. But I haven’t found any legitimate proof that he’s innocent so 😂. The band and staff and people around him have literally said what he was like, I’ve not seen anyone who shared their experience with him say they were lying, so... who am I more inclined to believe 😂. Again if I am wrong and there is legitimate proof from anyone other than Ashley please let us know cos I will take it back if he is innocent, but as I said I will ALWAYS believe and support victims first.

NEW MUSIC:

·         Frank Iero and the Future Violents released a new video for their song “Basement Eyes.” Almost a year after the release of their long-awaited album Barriers, Iero took to social media to tease the arrival of the video on February 17th.

·         The 1975 shared a new song and video for “The Birthday Party,” the fifth new track from their upcoming album Notes on a Conditional Form. Recently, the band also seemed to be behind a new website known as mindshower.ai.

·         All Time Low dropped their second single and video from their upcoming album Wake Up, Sunshine, titled “Sleeping In.” The band partnered with North Shore Animal League America (NSALA) to help raise money and awareness for no kill rescue and adoption organizations.

·         Ozzy Osbourne and Post Malone dropped their second collaboration from Osbourne’s album Ordinary Man, titled “It’s a Raid.” Fans first learned about the second collab earlier this month when the tracklist for the album was revealed.

·         5 Seconds of Summer dropped a new single, “Old Me,” off their upcoming LP C A L M. Earlier this month, the band dropped “No Shame” and announced the release date for their upcoming record.

·         Dance Gavin Dance announced the release of their ninth full-length studio album titled Afterburner. The band also celebrated by dropping the first single and video titled “Prisoner.”

·         Knuckle Puck dropped an energetic new track, “Tune You Out,” which is also their first release in nearly two years. According to Kerrang!, the band recently finished recording their third full-length album.

·         Ashley Purdy recently dropped a third solo track following his departure from Black Veil Brides in November. The song is titled “King for a Day,” which serves as the full track from a teaser Purdy posted back in December.

·         Fall Out Boy musicians Patrick Stump and Joe Trohman and Dethklok mastermind Brendon Small partnered up on the song “New Music Sucks.” The track comes off of Posehn’s comedy metal record Grandpa Metal.

·         Craig Owens of D.R.U.G.S., among many other dissolved acts, made a brief anniversary post for the band’s sole self-titled record. This follows an Instagram account for the band that was made and a VK page that leaked info about a potential single release date. 

TOUR ANNOUNCEMENTS:

·         Foo Fighters announced a 25th Anniversary “Van Tour,” which will visit 10 different cities. The tour is special because they plan to revisit some stops they hit on their 1995 tour to promote their debut album.

·         The Glasgow, Scotland, date of Palaye Royale’s The Bastards European Tour at the Garage was canceled, with the band later performing a free acoustic show near the venue. Days later, the band announced their show in Birmingham, England, was also canceled.

·         Movements announced a spring tour, which will commence on April 23rd in San Diego and conclude on May 17th in El Paso, Texas. They will be joined by fellow hardcore groups Teenage Wrist and Queen of Jeans. 

·         After rescheduling some of their tour dates back in January for the second leg of their winter tour, Angels & Airwaves announced new dates for those shows, as well as some extra shows. They will take place around a handful of festival dates, including Bunbury Festival. 

·         In celebration of their 10-year anniversary tour for the record To Plant a Seed in a few weeks, We Came As Romans revealed exclusive tour merch designs. The band took to Twitter to reveal three exclusive t-shirt designs designed by bassist Andy Glass.

·         Dropkick Murphys and Rancid announced that they are teaming up for a spring tour, the Boston to Berkeley II Tour. The tour begins May 3rd in Concord, North Carolina, and ends May 24th in Lewiston, New York.

·         Vans Warped Tour founder Kevin Lyman took to social media to ask fans for their input on a potential Warped Rewind at Sea sequel. The tour searched for suggestions on what other kind of entertainment and activities would make the trip better. 

·         Alesana announced a 10-city tour to celebrate the 10th anniversary of their release, The Emptiness. The tour commences on April 24th in North Carolina before ending on May 3th in Austin, Texas.

·         Armor for Sleep confirmed reunion theories with the announcement of a 15-year anniversary tour for their sophomore album What to Do When You Are Dead. The band broke up initially back in 2009.

OTHER NEWS:

·        Bring Me the Horizon dressed up as famous pop girl group The Spice Girls at the BRIT Awards on February 18th. The band all wore the personas of Scary, Posh, Baby, Sporty and Ginger Spice from their iconic performance at the 1997 BRIT Awards.

·         The Umbrella Academy teased viewers with a first look at the upcoming season, dropping the first set of posters for the second season of the series. The series is based on My Chemical Romance frontman Gerard Way‘s comic book of the same name.

·         The 320 Project started by Warped Tour founder Kevin Lyman and 320 Changes Direction founder Talinda Bennington, who was married to the late Chester Bennington of Linkin Park, was announced. The event will take place at the USC Bovard Auditorium.

·         The late Lil Peep’s estate partnered with luxury streetwear brand, Rose in Good Faith, to release a collaborative merch line. The line is dedicated to the memory of Gus, his music and his desire to help the world.

·         Twenty One Pilots’ Tyler Joseph and wife Jenna Black shared a short video announcing the birth of their daughter Rosie Robert Joseph, who arrived February 9th. She also mentions the reasoning behind the middle name choice was to match Tyler’s.

·         According to social media posts, YUNGBLUD and Travis Barker of Blink-182 seem to have pranked Machine Gun Kelly on MTV‘s Punk’d. Over this past weekend, Barker posted to his Instagram story a photo with a sign saying “you got PUNK’D.”

·         Vans is giving their iconic checkerboard shoe a psychedelic makeover with its new line, featuring a tie-dye color scheme. The design will be overlaid atop their ComfyCush Era and Old Skool models.

Time (Ashley Purdy Fluff)

I have a fluffy request with Ashley Purdy where I come home from work upset (as a nurse in the ER) and I lose a patient and he comforts me.

TW: Mentions of death, blood, losing loved ones.  A/N : Trying to get back into the groove, I apologize for the shortness. Please bare with me in this time. :D 

You lugged yourself into the elevator sadly, tonight’s shift was not forgiving from the beginning. Being an Emergency room nurse took it’s toll on everything you had, everything you gave it but it felt like the most rewarding thing you could do. Until nights like tonight. It started out ordinary. You had dinner with Ashley before heading off and clocking in. A broken bone, an upset stomach, 60 stitches altogether, until the call came. A young couple had been in a severe crash. 1 was dead on scene, the other was critical. 

“We need to be prepared with what’s about to come in,” You looked at the clock and wrote down the time, “I need everyone on my team focused and ready. I mean everyone.” 

You shook your head and exited the elevator walking down the long hallway towards your shared apartment with Ashley. He’d be just waking up, putting on the pot of coffee for your arrival and turning on the news, and all you wanted was to cancel the day and sleep next to him.  “M-My husband! Please.” You looked down the hall and rushed to meet up with the EMT’s. “Please my husband you have to help him! You can’t let him die!” 

“Miss, please stay calm.” You grabbed the side of the stretcher helping them wheel her into your care. “Fill me in! Room 2!”

“Dislocated collarbone, signs of concussion, possible collapsed lung and some broken ribs. Drivers side was hit. She crashed on the way here we got her stable just as we arrived.” Your patient grabbed your arm, her hands covered in dark blood. 

“M-my husband please!” 

“Ma’am please stay calm, we’re doing everything we can.”

“My husband! My husband needs help!! He’s epileptic!”  

“Miss, please we’re doing what we can. You’re my number one priority.”

“Hey you’re home,” Ashley smiled and walked over to you taking your bag. He paused looking down at your tired face. “Babe...?” Gently, Ashley set your bag down before grabbing your face. 

“I-I tried.. so hard.”

“Listen you did everything you could, okay?” He kissed your head gently and stepped back lifting you up gently. “Let’s get you to bed okay?” You leaned into his embrace tiredly, but the moment you closed your eyes you were brought back. “She’s crashing!” Quickly you rushed to the young woman’s aid. “I need a crash cart! Code Blue!”  You jolted awake hitting the pillow reaching for Ashley, “P-please don’t leave me...please...” He sighed softly climbing in right beside you.  “It’s okay to cry, Y/N. You did everything you could love,” He stroked your hair gently and you did just that. You cried out everything in your being. You felt terrible you couldn’t save the young woman, her family having to suffer the loss of her being. You cried out for all the families, for her husband.  “I-I just...”

“Don’t talk, you did everything you could. You always do. These things, when they pass, it’s their time. They needed to go home..” He kissed your head and pulled you closer to him. His heartbeat radiating through your body and you sighed sadly holding him a little tighter. Ashley was right, this was your job. You experienced these losses almost every day but this one just hurt a little too much. 

When you awoke the sun barely passed through the window but your head ached. You struggled to open your eyes but when you did you realized you were still in your work clothes. Ashley stirred quietly next to you as you moved around, but you smiled curling next to him a little more. For all that you did, coming home to Ashley was the best thing you could ask for. Whenever there was a bad day he knew how to make you more at ease, comforting you and making sure you knew that sometimes, the good out weighs the bad; and he for sure, was part of the good.
