sorry to still be on this but andy implied that he wrote “the shattered god” about ashley (or at least that this song was a way of articulating how he felt about “the situation”, as he refers to it):

and we know that andy tweeted the lyrics to “throw the first stone” a few weeks ago in the midst of the truth coming to light about ashley being a predator, which sent a pretty clear message regarding who / what that song was about:

so between these two songs being more or less confirmed as being about ashley and the other vague but clear comments he’s made about the situation, it’s pretty clear how andy feels about him

i don’t know all the details but from what i’ve seen, he released a “single” a few days ago called “zero”, and folks have noted that it has remarkable (almost exact) similarities to a smashing pumpkins song by the same name. i think he was originally marketing it as an original song but after it’s come under scrutiny he’s backpedaled and said now that it’s a cover, but if this + the song he released early this year are indications of the caliber of his songwriting and solo work? black veil is laughing all the way to the bank

so that comment ashley made about black veil breaking up after warped 2018 is obviously old news, irrelevant now, and not the most important thing concerning him at the moment, but this excerpt from an interview andy did at the time dispelling a/sh/ley’s comments is very telling with regard to the sort of dynamic the two of them and the band at large had, especially toward the end of ashley’s tenure in the band:

these quotes taken in tandem with ashley’s disinterested and at times hostile demeanor in interviews, his detachment and absence from the band’s social engagements, and the fact that he reportedly didn’t even track bass on vale and didn’t play live during the shows for that tour really just solidify the long-standing suspicion i had that he was dead weight the other guys had to carry on their backs. again, what’s been coming out about what he’s done to so many women and girls is obviously far more important and vile, but this mounting heap of evidence points to the fact that black veil and the fans will be far better off with him out of the picture. been a long time coming, too. good fucking riddance
