I thought what better way to kick off my sketchbook than by taking a class about keeping a sketchbook! Over the years I have tried to keep one and it never seems to work out for me. This was a really fun exercise for the first page. I tried to include the hobbies I partake in the most often. I am always a bit nervous and excited working on the first page. Though, I'm happy with how this turned out.

Now, the class came with a 30 day challenge with prompts. I have decided to save that since I've already made a list of classes to take. I will use this prompt list if I have a day when I am unable to take a class and need to get somthing on paper.

I enjoyed this class so much I decided to take another one of Mike's classes. So stay tuned for the results!

I wasn't sure what to draw here. I mainly tried to experiment with designs wraping around different parts of the body. I think this would be fun to try with different body types. I draw a lot of fantasy, mythology and nature things so that's what I went with for this.

Prompt # 6: weird or fancy charcuterie board

This was so much fun, I've never done a drawing like this with color. I feel like this would make a cute card. I may try a digital version at some point.

I have to say, I've never done a drawing exercise like this. It made me giggle and think out of the box. It was so much fun that it inspired 3 of my children to start their own sketchbooks. It was a warm up that I'll definitely be using again. My favorites are the worm dog and the snowcloud.

Hey! I'm Ashes. I am a multidisciplinary artisit and deisgner. I mostly do things for fun or as gifts. While I have done freelance, I'm looking to hone in on my skills. Where I share every page, the good, the bad and the ugly- from my 500 sketchbook challenge. For this challenge I am trying to make drawing more of a habit but also work on skills I feel need some love. I will be using my skillshare free trial. Sharing my thoughts about my projects and some of the classes. Once I'm finished with this I hope to start another large book. Follow along to see my progress as an artist, discover fun classes and drawing prompts.

On these days I will share projects from other classes I take or projects in general. This will definitely include painting, lino-carving, metalsmithing, stained glass and sewing. (Because I already do those things and want to improve my skills) It may contain lots of other things as well for fun.

I decided to take the plunge and put my linocut zodiac stamp designs on fabric! If. Anyone decides to make something with my fabrics, I would love to check it out! I did enable the wallpaper option as well! I will be sharing more on this soon. I have also ordered samples for a line of holiday fabrics that will be coming out soon!
