Y'all be shipping Gabriel Utterson with anyone from Edward Hyde to Jonathan Harker and never realise the man is written as codedly asexual. Why does nobody see my boy Gabriel as the ace representation he is along with Sherlock Holmes?

I mean on One Hand ace people can date too but on the other hand let’s be real I dig this headcanon a lot and I’ve always seen this guy as ace so

Henry Jekyll: bisexual Edward Hyde: pansexual Gabriel Utterson: asexual  Hastie Lanyon: closeted homosexual

Lanyon is only slowly recognizing his own attraction to Henry. He keeps remarking upon how beautiful Henry is every time he sees him, something that doesn’t seem to affect Utterson the same way for some reason? Come ON, Henry’s got the most beautiful face and hair and eyes and he just can’t take his eyes off his college roommate like??? 

how does Utterson NOT see how goddamn pretty their friend is? How does HENRY not see how pretty he is? His own family keeps remarking his focus upon his male friend seems unnatural to them. He doesn’t understand...can’t they see how beautiful this man is? It makes him wanna cry sometimes. 

....this couldn’t mean anything serious could it?
