Salvatore resolutely does not flinch, or even really react, when Dio speaks. He doesn't find the other vampire intimidating, despite their vast differences in stature and Dio's abilities, and he isn't about to let Dio think otherwise.

Instead, he just sneers, lifting his upper lip to show his fangs. Dio may not be intimidated by him either, but it's the thought that counts.

"Sure, I'll admit, it's impressive that your sorry ass crawled outta the fuckin' ocean," he drawls, "but I ain't gonna worship you as a fuckin' god about it, dipshit." Perhaps his disdain for Dio is a bit exaggerated at times, but he doesn't think the other vampire's ego needs the boost that any other treatment might give it.

Despite his determination not to flinch at Dio's obvious attempts to intimidate him, he can't quite stop the gentle shudder that passes through him at the soft breath exhaled right by one of his pointed ears. It takes him a moment to fully register the words Dio is whispering to him, and his ears lower in a mix of embarrassment and irritation once he does.

"Fuck off," he growls, hoping to hide his momentary flustered response. He does not turn to face Dio. "If you wanna fuckin' impress me, then shut your fuckin' trap." Part of Salvatore wants to point out how actions speak louder than words, but he doesn't want to encourage Dio regardless.

Salvatore snorts a laugh at Maggie's words, shooting her a wry grin. By this point, they've reached what he thinks is an uneasy sort of truce. They don't quite trust each other completely, which is reasonable, but he knows they wouldn't kill each other without good reason.

"Sounds about right," he hums. "Looks like that's somethin' you and I got in common, Mags." The nickname is new--the closest thing to a sign of friendship Salvatore can offer at this point. He thinks it's fair enough, all things considered--she's not wrong, after all. Based on what he's heard about this Barnabas son of a bitch, it seems they have quite a few things in common.

"But, hey," he adds, his grin turning to something almost playful. "Who says a little obsession is a bad thing? We both got some bones to pick--no harm in trying to make sure they're picked, if you catch my drift."

Oh yeah definitely!!!! Though it has stayed relatively close to its original concept, Arthur wasn't originally planned to come back. He was gonna stay dead and just be part of Ink's past. However, I realized how interesting it'd be to have him come back... Ink's past is quite literally haunting him!

💡 What inspired you to want to write it?

Oh so much- I think I've mentioned before that there are a few points of inspiration for Bleeding Over Eden, but I wanted to write something really exploring ideas of grief, identity, and trauma, focused on the idea of how the choices we make affect ourselves and those around us. And this is what came from that <3

🤔 Have you had to rethink any aspect of it so far?

Honestly I'm rethinking a lot about it ASDFJK;L namely. I didn't really get that attached to the characters I listed and so none of them are developed, so I think I'm gonna revamp them from the ground up. Their base concepts will stay the same, but everything else is very likely to change. We'll see!

I'm also rethinking the setting, because while I want the relationships and mental health aspects to take center-stage, I also don't like writing pure contemporary fiction with no fantastical elements. I wanna go WILD and be SPICY. I had the thought earlier that it'd be wild if I set this in my post-apocalyptic fantasy world, but we'll see on that front.

💡 What inspired you to want to write it?

So for those who don't know Sad People WIP, that's a WIP idea I had recently ("recently" as in a few months ago) centering around a group of people who meet when they all happen to go to the same rooftop with the intent to kill themselves. None of them really feels comfortable doing so with other people there, though, so they all back out. And they end up talking and becoming friends, making a pact that they would each help each other find reasons to keep going.

I actually don't quite remember what initially inspired this, but I did find out that there is a movie out there with this concept already ASDFJK;L so that's something. However I love exploring trauma and mental health in my work in general, so this is kind of a natural extension of that. Just with a lot of dark gallows humor thrown in ASDFJKL;

Looking at Kit and the scar on his face, I'd say it looks like he's been through Some Shit™, and he probably has his fair share of trauma, but I don't think he's the type to outwardly show that any of it really bothers him. He seems like he's quiet, a person of a few words, and generally a bot of a strong, silent, somewhat intimidating type. Like looking at Kit, I get vibes of "oh this is the coolest person in the room and I want him to think I'm cool too," so I'm gonna go ahead and assume he has that effect on most people he meets.

I don't think Kit is a particularly violent person, but I think if it came down to it he'd be very capable and able to kick some ass!!! However, I don't think he likes doing that. He doesn't seem like someone who really likes conflict in general.

6. Which part of writing annoys you the most?

i don't know if any part necessarily annoys me, but i struggle SO much with exposition. i don't like explaining myself!!!! i wanna throw you in with no fucking context!!!! figure it out!!!

9. How do you get rid of writers block? (I wanna know your secret method)

i don't lol

jokes aside, personally i've been trying to change my mindset lately around writers' block and view it less as like.. a physical block i need to get past and more just a natural part of the creative process. because i always feel bad when i'm in the Block stage and i wanna like... tell myself No It's Fine.

that doesn't answer the question though so my answer is still "i don't lol" b/c i don't have a way to get past it, i'm just trying to change how i approach it.

11. Tell me about that spinoff you had for your WIP.

you mean spinoffs, plural.

jokes aside, a modern ghost story has a spinoff idea already ASDFJKL; and that spinoff is 'we smell of drying flowers', which is a story about the character juno london during the 1980s and the sweet, sad man they form a friendship with. i don't know what i'm doing with it, but it's an exploration of life, love, death, and immortality, and just kind of a study on juno as a character.

14. How do you set the mood for the story?

it really depends for me, but one thing i try to do with my writing is to have the language i'm using reflect the mood i'm trying to convey. which is probably an obvious answer, but i'm not really sure how to explain my process ASDFJK;.

a lot of my writing process is just going "oh that would be cool as hell" over and over until i have a finished product. and setting the mood is just me going "ok how do i make this Feel the way i want it to" and going from there until i figure it out. it is not at all an exact science.

He'd treat me right ❤ Character I would be best friends with: I wanna be best friends with Jack and hug him A random thought: The shapeshifter arc/Christmas special in the original creepypasta is, in my opinion, a genuine masterpiece of horror and it only gets better in the actual books. An unpopular opinion: I don't know if this is really an unpopular opinion or anything but every day I get closer to becoming an actual Spencer Middleton apologist just b/c I think the way aspects of his character are handled in the books is uh. Kinda clumsy at best. My Canon OTP: Uhhh I'm not super into the canon pairings in general but. Jack and Sabine, I guess!!!! Their relationship seems like it was super sweet and sad and I wish they could've had a happy ending. My Non-canon OTP: DON'T MAKE ME CHOOSE ASDJFKL;. Okay. It's a three-way tie between jackerry, jantonio, and jencer probably asdfjk;l. They're all special to me in different ways. Most Badass Character: The shapeshifter in volume two. I'm obsessed with her (also I use she/her for this character b/c I headcanon her as transfem) Most Epic Villain: Spencer is such a fascinating character and villain to me and I love him so dearly. Pairing I am not a fan of: Honestly,,, I don't like pairing Amelia and Jack together in any kind of non-platonic sense. Character I feel the writers screwed up (in one way or another): I have a lot of hot takes about Spencer and how he's written but I won't go into those here <3 Favourite Friendship: JACK AND JERRY!!!!
