I adapted the last line from the Icelandic translation of the Communist Manifesto (Kommúnistaávarpið). It’s not how I would have done it (véʀ hǫfum etki at tapa nema hlækkjunum) but the translation is from 1926. The grammar is intentionally wrong for ON; it should say hværiʀ instead of hvær but I used the plural neuter rather than plural masculine as is slowly becoming more common in contemporary Icelandic.

hello anon!  i’m currently listening to Aaliyah.  i’ve been listening to her music since i was a kid and she’s still one of my favorite vocalists. she’s been a major source of influence for many of the singers that i enjoy today (i’m thinking of Kelela in particular, who is my favorite living vocalist).  i think her s/t has definitely stood the test of time.

also, i’d be happy to recommend some albums.  

something i’ve been listening to a lot recently is Anthony Braxton’s For Alto.  Braxton is a free jazz composer and multi-instrumentalist and i’ve only recently gotten into his work (tho i’ve been listening to free jazz since i was a teenager) but apparently For Also is considered to be one of the major works of the free jazz genre.  anyways, take a listen to the track “To Composer John Cage”.  it’s unrelentingly cacophonous and some sections of it are genuinely very unnerving, particularly the middle section where he makes the alto saxophone sound like a human screaming in terror.  

another that’s been a consistent favorite of mine for a while is Death Kneel’s Lilac & Benzine EP.  Death Kneel have been putting out some of the best industrial ambient and power electronics in recent years, but my first introduction to his music was this particular tape put out on Aught Void back in 2014.  he’s also put out tapes on Summer Isle, Total Black, and Strange Rules so you know this dude is in good company. Death Kneel’s particular brand of industrial ambient invokes images of flower vases on gravestones, the scent of funeral homes, and moth eaten silk.  check out the track “Apollo” to get a good idea of what the EP sounds like.  

also give a listen to Excoriate’s On Pestilent Winds which Sepulchral Voice Records (which has also released albums by the likes of Grave Miasma and Teitanblood) put out back in 2009.  Excoriate didn’t put out anything after this, and this LP was also their only full release, so unfortunately there’s not a lot to offer from this project as a whole.  still, i think for the brief time that Excoriate were together they managed to put out one of the filthiest and most unforgiving death metal releases ever.  anyways, listen to the titular track because it’s mean as fuck.    

you should also check out Sanguine Relic’s Blood On Old Altars In Remembrance which was released by Perverse Homage in 2016.  if you know anything about Perverse Homage then you know that they’ve become known as a purveyor of some of the grimiest and most cryptic black metal to come out in recent years.  and there is nothing i love more than black metal that sounds like it was recorded in a fucking cave, or in the case of Sanguine Relic this was likely recorded in an abandoned Transylvanian crypt.  Sanguine Relic’s vampyric black metal has yet to disappoint and this release is definitely a testament to that.  the whole thing is on youtube so give it a listen.     

and finally you should give a listen to Shallow Waters’ III which they self released in 2007.  they would later put out an LP on Hospital Productions, but i think this tape truly lives as the best example of their sound.  as far as i’m aware these guys were socialists (they used quotes from people like Asata Shakur in their liner notes and often invoked the Black Panthers in their imagery) and that’s definitely an added bonus, but the important thing here is the fact that this is some of the best noise/power electronics that has been released in the 21st century.  their discography remains one of my favorites.  here’s a link to the last track from this EP, “Obvious Traps”.

CUBA AND VENEZUELA: THE WESTERN HEMISPHERE'S AXIS OF EVIL

President Trump’s speech before the United Nation’s General Assembly, September 24, 2019, made clear that Venezuelan Dictator Nicolas Maduro’s Marxist regime was being held afloat with the help of his Cuban communist brethren.

“The Dictator Maduro is a Cuban puppet, protected by Cuban bodyguards, hiding from his own people, while Cuba plunders Venezuela’s oil wealth to sustain its own corrupt rule,” said the President.

Former bus driver, Maduro and his equally corrupt predecessor Hugo Chavez have made a shambles of a nation with the largest reserves of oil in the world. Venezuela is riven by a world-leading homicide rate per capita and beset with widespread shortages of food, water, electricity, and medicines. Government oppression with the help of Cuban goons is rampant and the nation is quite literally on the verge of anarchy. It is no wonder that approximately four million Venezuelans have fled the nation in despair.

In the light of this axis of evil which connects Cuba and Venezuela one has to question the wisdom of the Trump Administration’s maintaining ambassadorial-level relations with Cuba. Further, although ship cruises to Cuba have been banned commercial flights under eleven, purposely vague, travel conditions have not. Incredibly, even during the coronavirus outbreak one can travel to Cuba. Secretary of State Mike Pompeo needs to address these apparent loopholes in our travel restrictions or we will have left another door open to the virus.

Hard currency brought into Cuba by U.S. tourists continues to finance Cuba’s narcotrafficking business and its support for the murderous Maduro regime. For their part, tour operators, commercial airlines, and American tourists need to understand how they are being played for the benefit of Castro’s Mafia.

As to ending the embargo, there should be no such plan without reciprocal actions by the Cubans. For starters, there needs to be verifiable evidence of democratic reforms, including freedom of the press, and the conduct of free elections. None of that is likely to happen, however, as the Cuban “constitution”, such as it is, sanctions only the political activities of the Cuban Communist party. A move toward democratic freedoms is not the only condition the United States should seek if the two nations are indeed to play “nice” with each other. The release of political dissidents, and the return of thugs like the Puerto Rican, Victor Manuel Gerena sought by the FBI for bank robbery, and the Black Panther assassin Asata Shakur who is wanted by the FBI for the murder of a State Trooper in New Jersey should also be part of any final resolution. Moreover, the Cubans need to indemnify those Americans as well as Cubans whose property was confiscated by the Castro regime to the tune of approximately $8 billion. Clearly, President Trump needs to rethink his current position on Cuba if he expects to break apart the Hemisphere’s axis of evil.

truth be told, yes and no. i don’t like reading modern books like fantasy, science fiction or anything like that. i do love reading auto biography though, sydney poitier, asata shakur, i even have a first edition of the auto biography of Malcolm X. plus i dabble in manga and books about astrology, numerology and the zodiac.

nowadays i just barely have any time or (or greater interest) in reading but in short,  i do enjoy a good book now and again.
