i have a brain problem that prevents me from understanding people who need so much specifically newly-released TV shows that they're upset by the prospect of going a few months without new ones being produced
like they could stop making video games and books today and I wouldn't notice until sometime in 2026. honestly if they'd stop making new video games for a while that'd be kinda convenient. everyone take a break and let me catch up. I still haven't even played Persona 5.
#this is somewhat less applicable to movies#i can at least get why you'd care about a lack of new movies#because that's what theaters show#but your tv will show you whatever tv shows you feed to it#there's at least six or seven tv shows you haven't seen i bet

what i love about both I Saw the TV Glow and We're All Going to the World's Fair is that both movies really understand the tv/computer screen as a space of negotiation between one's sense of identity and the world. it's not so much that tv shows and the internet are used as escapism but that the screen itself functions as a sort of portal or mirror that creates this place of identification, but also of annihilation, where people can construct new images of themselves, reimagining themselves as something more real.

Columbo and the Knight (1984)
put me in the universe where Columbo ran through the 1980s and had a crossover episode with Knight Rider. I think they deserved it, and I am not just saying that because they're my two favorite Old Shows. @telebeast wrote a little fanfic blurb about it and I HAD to visualize it into a comic (which is also the longest comic I have finished thus far at five pages...), so writing credit goes to them.

You know, it's genuinely sad to me that aging favourite character actors no longer have any fun murder-mystery tv shows to guest-star as murders on.

I want someone over 50 or 60 at least.#and give me more older people with disabilities. I wanna see canes and wheelchairs.#yes the nun in father dowling played a nun in#sister act#but Perry mason was brought back when he was older so he still counts.#yes I’ve seen poker face and it’s good. but I want older people on my screen.
