I'm thinking abt that pretty fall leaves embroidery pattern post and about how like... it is categorically a repost, it's a reupload. right? a thing that is generally disliked. but because it's credited, it's genuinely boosting the artist in question. and it could ALWAYS be like this. reposting content could ALWAYS be a symbiotic relationship, but because sourcing back to the original creator of something is so uncommon, it's just easier to ask people not to repost it at all. and people still don't understand the difference. or they'll go to the effort of cropping out usernames/signatures to repost something, which is More Effort than literally crediting the creator of something you liked enough to want to repost. Like. I literally don't actually care if my own shit gets reposted, you have to understand. I just don't want it STOLEN. But "do not repost" is easier to write on my art than "you can repost this, but don't alter the image/remove my signature, don't you dare write 'credit goes to the artist' because that is not credit, please link back to my original post or someplace that you can actually find me. please use an actual link/url instead of writing a non-clickable link of my username, because making it text instead of a clickable link cuts the number of people who will go to the effort of visiting my own page in Half." All those aggregate themed accounts, those fuckin annoying as hell instagrams and facebook groups that are like "body positive art we love wamen 💕 hashtag feminism" and then MASS-STEAL plus sized art created by women, if pages like these that always go and steal my older self-portraits and other works... If they just put a link to my prints of those pieces in the text of those posts, or, fuck, my commission info page? I would literally be living on the moon right now. What I find really interesting is that Marcille has all these ideals of elven beauty and elven idea of what "masculinity" looks like (also her comment about how she thinks that tall-men playing elven characters clashes aesthetically in that little extra comic about going to the theatre with Falin) but she didn't grow up among elves? Beside her mom people around her in her childhood were tall-men

I wonder if this is her way to connect with her elven side.

Unfortunately beauty standards don't always make sense. Speaking from experience as an older person from Brazil I still remember when my senses of beauty where mostly based off white people, cause that's what was presented to me as beautiful. It was only after I grew older and started seeing more diversity labeled as beautiful too that I realized the beauty in my own traits. External influences might convince you the people around you aren't the "ideal"

Marcille probably was influenced by her mom and by her ancestry, I still remember kids in school being sad their parents/grandparents had blue eyes but they got "lame dark eyes" even tho that's whats the most common here. So she probably has idealized her Elf ancestry when it comes to aesthetics since even Tallmen in some areas idealize elves. I think it might be the same/similar for Thistle.

About how she cringed at the tallmen playing elves I've unfortunately felt that way before, when I was a kid I would cringe at seeing other brazilians cosplaying light-skinned characters (mostly as self shame tbh) but I got better✌️Marcille still needs to mature.

I'm talking about this with the lenses of my own experience but I just wanted to say that your aesthetic taste can be influenced by the "first world" even if you live surrounded by beautiful people that don't match it.

And on a side note I love that we have more representation nowadays, when I was a kid I remember latching onto to every single darker skinned character I saw in cartoons cause they looked like me lmao.

OUAT S1E19 - A word in the hallway please - or Emma shines through

For being such a Rumple-centric episode, this one made our ladies shine through.

There is the iconic "I'll wait here seated on your desk" scene that I don't think anyone can see and forget.

But I also liked how Emma is her own "I take no shit from no one" self. The way she commands "A word in the hallway"!!! And Regina follows, but she is still her cocky self and does her power walk there (and sure it's a walk!!)

But then again Emma waits for her and takes that stance, squaring her shoulders, jutting her elbows with her hands in her front pockets, and then makes her speech and when Regina tries to be her cocky self again ("Am I?") she just shush her ... I repeat - she shush Regina Mills.

me and @hsavinien pulled together our Owl House cosplays. Wearing dresses gives my fat, butch ass hives, so instead I did the ten-seconds-on-screen latest fashions from the human realm gag.

I didn't sew anything but the skirt and I guess technically sewing the two wigs together (HEAVY, BTW. And yeah we just FOUND those pants!), but I'm DEEPLY proud of how the props came out, particularly the violin for @hsavinien's Raine cosplay.

it was a real, cheap/busted violin. Cut the head off, crafted a palisman shaped head out of cedar. Sav wanted glowy light up strings so I figured out how to string it up by crafting a tail piece that could hold the strings and hide the battery box hole, and suggesting Sav design a simple 3D printed peice to route the LED strand thru since she has printer access. Which she did an amazing job of, and she did the painted embellishments.

Also fairly proud of how Owlbert came out. I love making props out of the actual materials, so instead of 3d printing it or whatever I carved him out of basswood with a Dremel. Which I've never done before.

I was frustrated with the stain job at first, but after some fiddly buffing realized he has a antiqued, lived-in look that seems perfect for a palisman of a wild witch that was carved when she was a teenager. He's also removable so he can be displayed a little easier.

We also handed these out, and some people got misty about it, which was fun.

Felt good to cosplay and art this way after not doing it since like... 2017. Must do again sooner.
