happy spotify wrapped swednesday the best part of this is the made-up genre categories

#lucy's thoughts #spotify wrapped #(assuming anyone who gets annoyed by these will have the tag blocked lol)#this is a highly unsurprising collection of music #though i’m a little impressed i listened to mcr enough to get them up in the top artists #guess my pre-concert ‘24-hour mcr lockdown’ playlist was effective #jtg for top artist for the third year running #part of the specific top songs are influenced by me letting spotify just play random songs post album end #as i usually listen to music in the car #and therefore some songs are over represented as spotify would just not stop playing them

*pulls up my own playlist* uhhhh a Few so far but when it comes to music i don't like... Actively Listen? no wait no - what i mean is i don't pay attention to shit like genre and what decade its made in. i hear a song, if i like it i add it to the main playlist - and a side playlist if it reminds me of something Specific. and i haven't really heard anything that is Strongly Laughingstock so far! i don't actively look!

but uhhhh rn i have: I Want You To Want Me by Cheap Trick strikes me as a them song, as well as Mr. Loverman by Ricky Montgomery, Strawberry Mentos by Leanna Firestone, To Noise Making (Sing) by Hozier, and Fair by The Amazing Devil.

this past week has just. not been very good to me tbh

#had a really scary health issue over the weekend #have classwork due every sunday #my bosses are usually rlly nice to me #but today they kind of like. dogpiled me for listening to music at work when i didnt realize it would be an issue #bc it helps me focus and work faster #and one of them said that was 'bullshit'#and kinda made me out to be inattentive and unfocused when they make more mistakes than i do #and i already felt kinda shitty today bc im having car trouble AGAIN so i was doing my damnedest not to cry at fucking work #then i came home and my parents kept hounding me abt sleeping in the living room since my bed isnt fully built yet #and bc of the health thing im not taking my adhd medicine anymore #which has made focusing THAT MUCH HARDER for me #i just feel like it cant ever be just one thing at a time #its always a bunch of shit at once #im gonna be honest i know all this shit sounds stupid as hell and none of it matters in anyway #but that sure isnt stopping the ideations lmao!!!!#tibtalks

fuck yeah the classical music radio station is currently playing mahler 1 (haitink with berlin phil)!!!!!

#this is the only mahler symphony they ever play but hey i'll take it #also they play it like once a month and i usually can't catch it #this is also like the best radio station on the entire earth because:#1. the hosts do not talk excessively but usually provide a little bit of background for most of the pieces as well as the musicians/ensembl #their voices are very soothing #2. i mostly listen to romantic period music and later but they play mostly pre-romantic and some romantic era music so i've #been exposed to a lot of new music that is quite good even though it isn't my favorite style or time period #3. they give weather reports (from their own hosts) usually at the top of every hour and this is pretty much the only way i get weather new #4. they broadcast five minutes of news from npr at the top of each hour during peak periods (rush hours mostly) which is a nice break #from the music and also is the predominant way i get news #5. every weekday at 7pm they broadcast pbs newshour which is very nice of them #and 6. and MOST IMPORTANTLY #they also allow you to listen to the station through their website so when im not in the car i can STILL listen to the classical music #radio station and the pleasant hosts bc i don't have a radio or anything that i can just use outside of the automobile #if anybody wants the website ask me!!! i don't want to just link it because doxxing but ill happily send people the link privately!#mahler #classical music

why is every album an artist releases these days 'their best one yet!' like I'm sorry this cannot be possible please reevaluate their discography and see me after class

#I PROMISE YOU this is not just about certain super mega popular pop stars who have released albums recently #however... these albums seem to have been released and are seeing... from what I can gather online... mixed results even from Fans #and my very own fave current day band just released an album of THEIR own earlier this month and the general reviews were 'best one ever!'#I listened to it... it's good. it's fine. it's a little bit of a departure from their usual style and that's fine. but it was by no means #their best album. even their LAST album was better and IT wasn't my fave either....#but I definitely felt like it was better than this new album. I was so 🤷‍♀️with their new album I haven't even put it on the thumb drive #for my car yet which.... says a lot. usually their stuff IMMEDIATELY goes on the car thumb drive. IMMEDIATELY. this one... ehh #I'm not losing out not hearing it in the car rn...#I just feel like there is no real critiquing of music anymore I guess IDK....#but I cannot stress enough this is NOT just about two popular popstars lol I don't even listen to their stuff I just see #things online and I'm like hmmmm.... every artist cannot possibly be releasing their BEST ALBUM YET every time #erin explains it all

I love sharing music with people and then when they really like it it's a kind of connection you can't feel anywhere else

#every time my little brother and i get together we make a shared playlist and add a bunch of songs we want the other to hear #it's great because we almost always end up driving somewhere usually for at least an hour or two #and we listen to it in the car #and talk about the music #and it's just great #we have similar taste in music (non-opera he's not as into that as me) so we usually like what the other picks #ugh it's been such a long time since we did this #honestly so jealous of my roommate who gets to see her sister like twice a week #lately ive been lucky if i get to see my brother twice a year #dont mind me just a lil sad rn

#i don’t know if it’s intentional but that’s how it comes across #there are. a LOT of things where i don’t understand what most people are talking about and feels like they’re faking interest #bc i genuinely don’t get it. it’s lonely for me but ultimately fine ig #but there’s something about the way Music Bros talk about Normies that rly just. feels very demeaning #like. people who aren’t as into music as they are are uncultured little monkeys #genuinely i have gone months without listening to music of my own free will #and if i say that people are like ‘oh you poor baby’ when it’s like. this is only a problem for you #or like. idk i feel like there’s better and more enjoyable ways to use my time #i listen to podcasts at work bc at least it makes me feel productive. i can do two things at once and it’s more efficient #but music to me is like. movies. there’s something about them that i don’t get and usually just bounce right off from #i will say there’s something nice about singing in the car or at home by yourself #but just because something is important To You doesn’t mean it’s important to being human #i don’t make posts making fun of people who don’t knit #or people who don’t read. we all spend our time on different things whoaaa crazy

I never get it when Death Grips fans go on and on about how "everyone finds Death Grips unlistenable the first time they listen to it but then it grows on you" because I do not have that experience in the slightest. I listened to Takyon and got into it pretty much instantly. Funny because usually I have to listen to songs more than once for me to start liking them but the supposed "grows on you" music was an instant click
