2.Static Heart
Summary: You land in heaven, but you suddenly hear static that no one else hears. You chose to follow the sound, where will it lead you?
Alastor x Wife Reader
(Read 1. Static Death as a prequel to this story!) (Read Static Remains for part 3.)
─── ・ 。゚☆: *.☽ .* :☆゚. ───  ─── ・ 。゚☆: *.☽ .* :☆゚. ───
Soft, everything felt soft and very …. heavy?
Why is everything white?
You grab your face feeling for anything different…. no, nothing wrong there.
But why does your back feel heavy.
You twist your head and are met with a pair of wings on your back. White, beautiful, large wings.
“What… what is this?” You stand up from your spot on the (fluffy?) ground.
You turn you head around and see a line of …people… yes people with wings.
Walking towards the end of the line you tap a woman’s shoulder, and she turns around.
“Um, I’m sorry but what exactly is going on?”
“Oh, dear haven’t you figured it out yet?” She says looking at you glumly.
“No, No I haven’t figured anything out!” You feel yourself start to shake. “One moment I was in bed and now I’m here!” You feel like crying.
The woman starts to rub your arms, “Its okay, your okay,” she looks around for a moment. “I just got here myself, but I do believe we are at the gates of heaven.”
The gates of heaven? Did I die? How did I die? Heavens real?!
You feel a sense of panic, you feel your breath running out of you. You place a hand on your chest.
“Deep breaths…. breath in……. breath out…that’s right everythings fine. You don’t have a thing to worry about anymore.” She tells you in a soothing voice.
Your breathing comes back at a normal pace. “Thank you, miss. I just don’t understand how I got here.”
“It’s all right, I was a bit shocked myself, with the wings and finally seeing heaven. My names Josephine Wright.”
“My names Y/n Hartfelt.”
Josephine smiles at you, “Can’t believe there’s actually a heaven, I mean you hear about it, but you never really expect to see it!”
You nod, your mind still not accepting the fact that you are in fact dead.
How am I dead?
Josephine continues to ramble on about her life, her children she hopes to see, wondering if her dogs, Brownie and Gravy, are in heaven too.
You cross your arms together slightly shuffling. Then you hear it.
Static.
It’s overcoming your ears, and you turn around to find the source.
“Hey, hey everything all right?”
You look back towards her, “Didn’t you hear that?”
“Hear what?”
“The static.”
Josephine looks around, “No, I haven’t heard a thing. Maybe it’s your ears still getting used to this place. I’m still getting use to how bright it is here.”
Maybe it is, but the static….
It’s getting louder.
“Hey, do you have anyone you’re waiting for?”
“Huh?”
“I mean I told you who I’m expecting to see but you haven’t told me much about you.”
You take a moment, “My husband… but I don’t think he’ll be here.” You mumble the last part, placing your hands over your heart.
“Hmm?”
“No, I just... my husband, he… he died before me.”
“Oh, don’t worry dear, he might just be waiting for your return beyond those gates.”
The static is louder than before.
“I think I’m going to walk around a bit…”
“Oh, I can save your spot while you walk, the line doesn’t look like it’ll get any shorter, specially since that little guy in the front keeps singing.”
“Yes... thank you, Josephine.”
You decided to walk towards the static.
With each step you take the static grows incredibly louder. You can hardly see Josephine anymore.
Static, why is there static in heaven?
You find a hole in the ground, but the hole is filled with red. Nothing like the bright shining light in heaven. It seems to be where the static is emitting from.
You kneel near the hole placing your hands around the edges.
“What is this?”
You stick your head in the hole, and it feels…. hot. There seems to be a whole city down there with darker colors compared to heaven’s light.
The static… it sends shivers through your body.
“It’s coming from down here…”
You push yourself closer into the hole.
“The static is louder down here.”
You push yourself more until... you fall.
You feel your wings flap rapidly.
You scream but the ground is still getting closer, covering your face with your hands.
Then you feel the ground on your feet.
Your breathing is uneven, and you feel your body for an injuries.
“Okay, okay, I’m okay, I’m alive…...well dead alive…. alive dead?” You shake your head.
The static now courses through your body sounding louder than ever before.
It doesn’t seem that far from where you landed.
You stick your head out from the alleyway, and you see …. creatures.
There seems to be two lizards bashing each other’s heads, there a fox fellow smashing glass, gunshots filling the air, and... and is that a blimp with a cannon?!
You back into the alley, what is this place. Wait… if up there was heaven does that mean… that… this is hell?
You still hear the static and feel the need to get there. Something is pulling you towards the sound.
Your feet lead you through the twists and turns of the alleyway. It seems never ending.
It seems to be getting darker, you feel yourself shaking.
Why do I feel nervous?
“NO, NO NO NO NO NO PLEASE! I’LL DO ANYTHING YOU WANT!! FUCK!! DON’T KILL ME PLE—”
Blood splatters on your dress.
Dead. Someone’s dead.
Someone died in front of you, but you stand still.
They’re dead and you’re just standing.
Run, why don’t you RUN????
The static stills you.
“Well, I didn’t know I had an observer….” The voice sounds like a radio, it sounds… familiar.
You can’t see who’s talking but the static, you know it’s coming from the voice.
“Did you come for a free show? Hmmmm…” The voice is getting closer.
The voice comes from beneath you seemingly from the darkness below.
This being, it towers over you.
“Its not polite to not make eye contact with someone who is speaking to you.” He tilts your chin up to face him.
The static stops.
You both look into each other’s eyes.
The being has a monocle, a pair of horns on his dark red hair with fluffy ears.
Even with all the changes, he’s still the man you fell in love with.
“Alastor… is that you?” you quietly ask.
He places his hands on your face, “Y/n?” The radio tone in his voice stops as he rubs his thumb along your cheek.
“Yes… it’s me my love.” You take one of his hands holding your cheeks and kiss it softly.
“What, what are you doing here? How are you here?”
“I heard static noises from up there. I decided to follow the sound and…. it led me to you.” You look back up at your loving husband.
“Why did you… why did you kill them? Why did you leave me?” You begin to sob, your hands forming fist, and you begin to bash them into his chest.
“I never felt more lonely in my life, when you died if felt like I was being split into two.”
Alastor doesn’t stop you from hitting him.
“Why!?”
He starts to rub your back feeling your wings, caressing them softly.
Alastor faces you back towards him, wiping your tears.
“Dearest there are many things you don’t know about me. But one thing that I’ve never hid from you is my love.”
Your crying stops.
“You shouldn’t be down here and even so you shouldn’t be dead so soon.”
You don’t say anything.
He pulls you closer. “I love you more than anything.”
You wrap your arms around him, “I missed you so much.”
Alastor kisses your forehead. “Now my dear, let’s go home.”
Smiling you push yourself closer to his face and with understanding your actions Alastor moves forward.
A kiss so sweet death can no longer break you apart ever again.

I'm still working on the Vox and Alastor story so in the meantime have this. I'll try to post once a day:)

Blades | Hockey player!Vi x figure skater!fem!reader
Tumblr media
Pairings: Vi x reader (mutual crush), Caitlyn x Vi (platonic), reader x Caitlyn (strangers)
Type of fic: Comfort, Light Angst
Warnings: Injury
Summary: Vi tends to go to your skating practices a lot lately, but today when she came it wasn’t just a practice - it was something much more, something that might decide about your future and when you get injured Vi is there to help you.
———————
The ice rink was alive with motion, figure skaters gliding effortlessly across its surface. Vi leaned against the boards, her sharp blue eyes fixed on one skater in particular—you.
She wasn’t even supposed to be here yet. Hockey practice wasn’t for another hour, but for weeks now, she’d made a habit of coming early. Officially, it was to “prepare mentally,” but anyone with eyes could tell it wasn’t the drills or strategy she was thinking about.
No, it was the way you moved. Each jump, spin, and glide seemed effortless, like you belonged to the ice in a way no one else did.
Today, though, the atmosphere felt different. The rink was quieter, more focused. Judges sat at a table by the boards, clipboards in hand.
Vi furrowed her brows and turned to a figure skater resting on the bench. “What’s going on today?”
“They’re deciding who’s going to the country finals,” the skater replied, not looking up from tying their laces.
Vi’s gaze snapped back to you, her heart tightening. She didn’t need to know much about figure skating to understand how important this was.
You were aware of Vi’s presence, as always. She wasn’t exactly subtle, leaning against the boards in her hockey gear, her undercut great and her arms crossed. But you didn’t mind. If anything, the thought of her watching added a little extra spark to your routine.
You took a deep breath and stepped onto the ice, your movements fluid as you began your program. The judges watched closely, their pens scribbling notes as you executed each move with precision.
Then came the moment you’d been preparing for: the Axel.
You’d landed it countless times in practice, but this was different. This was for the judges, for the finals. You pushed off, spinning through the air, and for a second, it was perfect.
But the landing was anything but.
Your skate hit the ice at the wrong angle, and a sickening snap echoed through the rink. Pain shot up your leg, but the adrenaline coursing through you dulled it enough to keep you moving.
Vi’s heart dropped. She knew that sound too well—she’d heard it before on the ice, in games, and it never meant anything good.
“Damn it,” she muttered under her breath, her eyes fixed on you.
Despite the injury, you continued, your movements growing shakier as the pain began to seep through the adrenaline. Vi’s jaw clenched. She’d watched enough of your practices to know the next jump you had planned was dangerous even on a good day.
When you began to set up for it, Vi didn’t hesitate.
Grabbing her hockey skates from her bag, she laced them quickly and stepped onto the ice. The trainer yelled something at her, but she ignored it, skating straight toward you.
You barely registered her approach until she was there, gripping your arm gently but firmly. “You’re done,” she said, her voice low but commanding.
“What? No, I can—”
“You can’t,” Vi cut in, her gaze piercing. “You’re hurt. I’m not letting you make it worse.”
The protest died on your lips as the throbbing in your ankle became undeniable. Slowly, you nodded, leaning on her as she helped you off the ice.
In the locker room, Vi helped you sit down on one of the benches, kneeling in front of you. “Alright, let’s see how bad this is,” she muttered, reaching for your skate.
She hesitated for a moment. “This is going to hurt,” she warned.
“Just do it,” you said through gritted teeth.
She carefully removed the skate, revealing your swollen, broken ankle. Her brows furrowed as she inspected it, her rough hands surprisingly gentle.
“How are you not freezing in this outfit?” she asked, glancing at your light skating dress. Without waiting for an answer, she shrugged off her hockey jersey and draped it over your shoulders.
You gave her a small, grateful smile, clutching the warm fabric. “Thanks.”
The locker room started to fill as her teammates trickled in, their curious gazes flicking between the two of you.
“Uh, Vi?” Caitlyn asked, raising an eyebrow.
Vi didn’t look up. “Tell the coach I’ll be late,” she said, her tone leaving no room for argument.
The girl nodded, exchanging a knowing look with another teammate before leaving.
Vi turned back to you. “We’re getting you to the hospital. This needs to be looked at properly.”
“I don’t want to—”
“Not a debate,” she said, helping you stand. “Lean on me.”
You sighed, but the warmth in her eyes made it hard to argue. With her arm securely around your waist, you let her lead you out of the rink.
As the hospital doors came into view, you glanced at Vi. “You didn’t have to do all this, you know.”
“Yeah, I did,” she replied, her tone softening. “You’re important.”

Chapter 43.9
I arrive at GeekCon both sweaty and with a vague sense of unease. The stifling heatwave has turned the city into a pressure cooker, and it feels foreboding, like something terrible is building and about to break free.
Tumblr media
I’m greeted by my own face by the door, advertising the panel that I’m supposed to be on this morning. I never got comfortable seeing myself like this, I prefer it when they just use the logo or my masked promo pictures. At least today is the last time I’ll appear as Llama Man in any official capacity, and then…
Then I don’t know.
Tumblr media
But there’ll be time to figure that out later, right now I’m about to see Julia again. I can’t believe it’s only been a year since we met, and I have no idea how she feels about me right now.
I spent most of the night in my hotel room tossing and turning, thinking about what I’ll say to her, but I still don’t have a plan. I just want to apologise for ending things so abruptly.
It really wasn’t my best work.
She said she just wanted to be with you. And then you dumped her.
Tumblr media
I groan inwardly as I scan the faces of everyone I see. There’s no sign of her, but the cosplay competition isn’t until later, she may not have arrived yet.
I wonder if she’ll refuse to speak to me at all. I wouldn’t blame her, but she never seemed like the type to carry a grudge. I just want to see her and make sure she’s not too upset about how things ended, something I should have done months ago.
I need to make sure she doesn’t hate me. I can’t handle if she hates me.
I guess I’ll have to play it by ear, although Lee would tell me that’s not my strongest suit.
Tumblr media
I leave my jacket in the wardrobe and linger a bit, fiddling with my VIP bracelet. The gallery’s air-conditioning is working overtime, and it helps a little with the heat but I still feel uneasy. My eyes are drawn to the bathroom door.
Tumblr media
If this was a movie, Julia would come out of the bathroom right now, exactly like last time. Our eyes would meet. A beat, as the camera cut from her face to mine, both of us too surprised to speak. I would recover first, tell her that we can’t keep meeting like this, and her face would crack into a smile. Then she’d leap into my arms and I would kiss her like there were no tomorrow.
Tumblr media
Get it together, Romeo. She’s not kissing you ever again, you’re going to be lucky if she even speaks to you. Focus. You’re at work.
At least I’m not in full costume this year, I would probably have died from heatstroke. And it would have made me feel silly trying to have a serious conversation with Julia.
I decide to take a quick tour of the convention floor before the panel starts.
Tumblr media
Even though it’s still early in the day, there’s people everywhere. Some tabletop role-players are recording their podcast on location, kids are running around, and several people are dressed up despite the heat. I wish Julia had shown me pictures of the costume she was planning so I knew what to look for.
Tumblr media
A woman with long, red hair makes me do a double take, but I know it isn’t Julia before she even turns around, the way she moves is wrong. I know every inch of Julia’s body and this isn’t it. Everything Julia is, the way she walks and talks and laughs is imprinted on my brain, and it feels like I should be able to locate her by telepathy, by following some sort of invisible string tying me to her.
“Uh, Mr. Romeo! Sorry, hello.”
Tumblr media
“Oh, hey. Edmund, right?”
The young man beams, clearly pleased that I remember his name. His booth was next to mine last year, we talked about old movies. I wish I could introduce Julia to him, she would have loved to discuss Cow Plant Love with an expert.
“Wait, you do know him? I thought you were lying!” The teenage girl next to him sounds somewhere between impressed and angry.
“Yeah, why would I lie about that? Sorry, sir, this is my sister Liz, she’s a big fan of Llama Man.”
Tumblr media
“Can I have your autograph? I collect them, I already got the Coolala guy and the Freezer Bunny lady this morning. Oh, and can you make it out to ‘Lizette’, with a Z, please?”
“Of course. That’s a very cool costume, Lizette with a Z.”
“I made it myself! It’s Michelle from Doherty’s Revenge, have you seen it? The one with the zombie gym teacher?”
“Oh? Haven’t heard of it, do you think I should watch it?”
Tumblr media
“You have to, it’s so good! I used to think it was actually really scary but now I just think it’s funny. Me and Edmund watch a lot of like, retro movies with dad, we even watched the really old Llama Man movies once. I’m gonna tell my dad I met you, he won’t believe it!”
“I’m flattered. Thanks for the movie recommendation, I’ll make sure to check it out.” I hand her the autograph before waving goodbye to Edmund who mouths a silent thank you.
Tumblr media
Retro.
I know everything seems ancient to a teenager, but the word tastes like dusty VHS tapes, like lava lamps and shag carpets, like mid-century kitchens. This is my demographic, I suppose, nostalgic dads and their excitable kids.
Tumblr media
Julia is not in the panel crowd either, but I guess that would have been too much to hope for. I would probably have found her presence too distracting anyway.
Tumblr media
I know one of the other panellists, Mei Zhang, the iconic voice of the Freezer Bunny for over fifteen years. We’ve met briefly at conventions and even on a few gigs, but never really got a chance to speak much.
The third panellist is a young man named Andy Okeke, who seems to be voicing a few Voidcritters as well as a bear-like creature I’ve never heard of. It’s his first time on a panel, but he’s already annoyingly good for his age, and I can imagine him having a pretty impressive career at the speed he’s going.
Tumblr media
I answer the same questions I’ve answered a million times before and try to find some sort of comfort in the fact that it’s the last time. As much as I loved my job, it got repetitive after almost a decade. Maybe I should get that number for Sierra’s agent, try to get back on screen. Maybe I’ve grown too complacent, stagnant.
Finally, the questions dry up and the last people leave the room, and just like that, I’m free from my contract. It doesn’t feel like freedom, though, more like a free fall.
“Hey, Romeo, wait up.” Mei stops me by the doors.
Tumblr media
“How are you doing? It must be so weird.” She shakes her head. “I don’t know what I’ll do if they ever retire Bunny.”
“You’ll still have others, won’t you?”
“I know, but I’m known for Freezer Bunny, not for… four or five Voidcritters. I can’t even keep track of their names, which is ironic since it’s all they ever say.”
I’m not sure how to respond so I just nod. I’m impatient to get to the cosplay competition, but I don’t want to be rude.
Tumblr media
“Mei, it was great seeing you again, but I’m in a bit of a hurry, actually.”
“Sure. Would you – would you want to grab coffee some time, though?”
Shit. Before Julia, I would have gladly followed Mei home tonight, maybe we’d even go on a couple of real dates before things fizzled out as they normally do. But right now, every muscle in my body is telling me that I have to go, to move, to be somewhere else.
Tumblr media
“Sorry, I’m, uh. Maybe another time, I don’t…”
The giant poster of my face is judging my lame attempt at stringing together a sentence, and I’m painfully aware that the woman behind us has been sweeping the same spot for a minute now, pretending not to eavesdrop.
Tumblr media
“I’m a big girl, Romeo. If you’re not interested, that’s fine.”
“Right. I am sorry, though, it’s not…” I mumble something politely incoherent and more or less flee the room.
Fuck. One year and I’ve completely lost my touch.
Tumblr media
I hurry up the stairs, the competition must be just about to end. I can see through the doors before I even reach them, all of the contestants are on stage – and she’s not there.
Tumblr media
I stand in front of the doors, frozen, arm still outstretched. This doesn’t make sense, she loves this, she told me about the costume she was planning, she should be here.
There’s no time to dwell on why I so desperately need to see her again, what I would even say to her, the only thing left is fear.
Tumblr media
What if something has happened to her? Would I ever know? We’re not together anymore and we have no friends in common, no one who would think of me or assume I’d want to know if she got hurt or sick.
She could be dead. She could be dead and I would never know.
I’m vaguely aware that I’m spiralling but I can’t stop, I feel dizzy. The heat and the lights and the people, everything is too much and I can barely see.
Somehow my feet carry me outside, to the very same bench where we talked for hours on that first night. I try to breathe, deep breaths, but the air is too warm and feels thick.
Tumblr media
My hands shake as I log into the anonymous account I made during a moment of weakness after she blocked me, and I pull up her social media in the hopes that she posted something recently, anything that can reassure me that she’s fine.
Relief floods through me when I see the timestamp on her latest updates. San Sequoia Aquarium, just a couple of hours ago. But the relief dissipates quickly as I scroll through the photos.
Tumblr media
Nestled between fish and family pictures, there are two selfies with her friend Marten.
I stare at them, suddenly feeling numb.
Tumblr media
Her eyes are shining like stars in the lights from the tanks. She’s smiling, and so is he. His arm is around her, possessively, and there’s a hint of triumph in his eyes that I don’t like.
He seems to be carrying her on his back in the other photo, and the thought of her legs wrapped around him awakens an urge to tear him away from her that is almost suffocating.
If they’re not already dating, it’s a matter of time. They would probably have gotten together a long time ago if I hadn’t been there. A petty part of me wonders if he was really being her friend or just biding his time, waiting for me to fumble, but that’s crazy. I barely know the guy. Actually, I don’t really know any of Julia’s friends, I just have a vague idea about their names and who they were to her.
I wasn’t a very good boyfriend, was I?
Tumblr media
I told you it was better this way.
I’ve kept reminding myself that I didn’t make a mistake, and here’s proof at last. This was meant to be, they were meant to get together, I just happened to get in the way. He’s been a good friend to her, nice and considerate, while I only brought her chaos and pain.
I was so worried that Julia was wasting my time, but all along, I was the one wasting hers. She deserves better, I know this, but it still feels like I lost her all over again.
Tumblr media
I put away the phone and take a deep breath of the scorching air. And then I reach for the tiny, secret corner of my heart where I was nursing my last hope of getting her back and stomp it out.

Minty's Master Post
So, I've been asked a couple times for a master post
DPXDC Prompt #43
Danny had kept many secrets from his family over the years. He kept his history as an ex-assassin secret, the fact that he had a twin a secret, the fact that he had died (well half died), and he kept that he was technically king of all ghosts a secret too. He was gearing up to tell his parents about everything he was and this trip to Gotham that they were planning.
There was a science convention that his parents were invited too. Little did they know a group of cultists were planning on kidnapping his family as a sacrifice to the ghost king, they needed 5 and they figured the Fentons would be good, a family of ghost hunters getting sacrificed to the king? They needed a 5th so they also kidnapped a Damian Wayne.
now all 5 of them are in a room, Danny doesn’t even know what’ll happen when the summoning doesn’t work and he knows it won’t seeing as you can’t summon the king into a room he’s already in.
DPXDC Prompt #58
Gotham is a city with a lot of ambient ectoplasm, enough that the Fentons move here instead of Amity Park. Danny being a pretty smart kid being the son of 2 scientists gets a scholarship to Gotham academy where he makes friends with Tim and Damian. Well the 2 were only doing it at first because they wanted to keep an eye on them scientists rarely didn’t become rouges in Batman’s gallery so can you really blame them for being cautious?
Danny is telling them about the portal that they were trying to build and how it wasn’t working and how Danny felt guilty about it. The 3 venture down there when the parents are gone and Danny wearing his hazmat goes into the portal while the other 2 watch on. Danny trips and no one’s having a good time.
They decided to take Danny to Wayne manor until they can figure out what exactly happened to him, unfortunately Danny’s new powers act up and he winds up phasing through the floor into the basement… or more accurately the Bat cave.
this one has been changed a bit from the prompt but I think those changes are more natural
DPXDC Prompt #61
In one universe Damian was sent to live with his father at age 10, in another he winds up escaping Nanda Parbat to America after faking his death. He changed his name to Danny and moves in with a family called the Fentons. Danny dies and is revived by the portal and even becomes king of the infinite realms.
Danny falls through a portal into Gotham but not his universes Gotham but one where he becomes Robin instead. He and Robin meet and of course this version of him assumes Danny’s a clone. Everyone else is just confused and Danny just wants to go home to his universe or does he since the GIW doesn’t exist in this universe…
DPXDC Prompt #108
When you meet your soulmate you both feel it, you know down to your bones that this person was meant to be with you for life, if you’re unable to find them before you pass on, your ghosts will be unable to locate each other in the afterlife. The Fentons tried to make a way to locate your soulmate using ectoplasm, unfortunately for Danny he’s the only one in the family yet to find his. Jazz actually found hers when she started school in Gotham, some guy named Jason, if Danny remembered correctly. They try some experiments with Danny and something works just not as intended as with every piece of Fenton tech. Danny wakes up in an unfamiliar room and in an unfamiliar body. Looking around, it appears his soulmate is rich, he’s got to call his soulmate and explain the situation. He’s not looking forward to explaining his powers to them but if they’re going to be in his body best to let them know what to expect from Danny’s weird biology.
Damian woke up to an unfamiliar ringtone in an unfamiliar room. Assessing the situation he noticed the number from the phone was actually his own. Might as well answer it to see if he could get some answers.
DPXDC Prompt #128
No one was quite sure what happened, They had gone after Joker and while Batman was hesitant to allow Hood along he had gotten better about his anger and everyone else was busy with other rouges. one second Red Hood had a gun in Jokers face the next, there was a shift in Hood like he wasn’t himself anymore. Unfortunately it finally happened for Hood, his soulmate had reached 20 years of age and the two switched places. The person controlling his body now though was Danny Fenton who happens not to like clowns.
Danny was panicking and not realizing he was holding a gun pulls the trigger causing the Joker the go flying and Danny’s panic to increase 10 fold. He whips his head to get a look at his surroundings and that’s when he panics further and slowly places the gun on the ground and slowly raise his hands into the air. There in front of him was Batman and he knew he was in trouble. Still panicking he squeaked at the dark knight’s approach, “I’m sorry!! I- I guess I’m this guy’s soulmate. I didn’t mean to hurt anyone”
Jason meanwhile wasn’t fairing any better. He was pissed the clown was right in front of him and he was so close! He was in this scrawny body, his soulmate happened to be in Gotham but by the looks of it, he was in rough shape, a small fever was forming and it seemed like he had bandages wrapped around his torso. Jason doesn’t know what happened to him but he’s taking him to Alfred, he wasn’t going to let his soulmate bleed out in an alley even if he did have the worst timing.
DPXDC Prompt #136
Danny falls through a natural portal and gets turned into a dog. I’m thinking he gets turned into something husky adjacent like a pomsky or something. He gets found by Jon who wants to give him to his friend and possible crush Damian. Danny wants to get back he was in the middle of some ghost politics but this young kid seemed like he needed a friend. Danny could see through Damian’s cold exterior and what Danny saw was a little kid who went through a lot of trauma in his childhood and Danny wanted to protect him.
DPXDC Prompt #142
It was considered a pretty big deal when a new ancient gets born. Danny didn’t and wouldn’t know this when he gets into an accident. A signal went out to all magic users that the ancient of space was born as soon as he stepped out of the portal and then things changed. If you could make a deal with an ancient it increased your power way more than that of a demon. Soon Danny gets chased by all sorts of folk trying to make a deal with him. He then gets caught by John Constantine who takes him back to the safety of the watchtower. What is the safest place to put the space ancient? In space!
DPXDC Prompt #148
Danny didn’t want to go to the gala but since all of his friends were busy with their own soulmates there wasn’t much he could argue. Vlad invited his family and him to a gala out in Gotham and his parents jumped at the opportunity to show their madness with some of the elite. Danny couldn’t wait to get home, yes he knew he had a soulmate but he wasn’t sure if he wanted to pursue them or not.
They could feel each other’s emotions and his soulmate was an angry person. Danny’s whole life his soulmate acted mad and strangely prideful. But those didn’t compare to his fear, they seemed to have gotten themselves in trouble in the past and maybe even had a few close encounters with death. They also seemed to bottle feelings up from what he could tell his soulmate might not have had the best childhood but Danny couldn’t really say much on that.
Damian knew his soulmate was kind of soft. They seemed to get annoyed at his family typical for a teen. Of all the things he noted about him his dislike of Christmas was a little odd but not everyone has to like the holidays he supposed. His mother Talia imparted on him that he should protect his soulmate with his life when he finds him so he was very determined to find them. Of course galas we’re the best place to look so he desperately asked every time his father hosted one.
When this finally get's posted I've been trying for hours now, LMAO

Goddess in the Garden
Tumblr media
Another Idea going round my head
Rupert had never been one for sentimentality. He had his obligations, his duties, his amusements, but concern? That was for softer souls. And yet, here he was, standing outside Charles’s modest little townhouse, its high walls wrapped in creeping ivy like an old secret. The street was quiet, the crisp winter air carrying the faint scent of damp earth and distant chimney smoke. A place like this, so unassuming, felt alien to Rupert—no grandeur, no pretension, just a home tucked away in a city that never truly rested.
Gerald had managed to track down information from the hospital with some well-placed calls and a little arm-twisting. Charles had been discharged the very next day with a prescription for a mild tranquilizer. Panic attack—nothing serious. Taggie, ever the bleeding heart, had been quietly worried ever since. Worrying as gnawing on her bottom lip in that adorable way she did. It was enough to prompt him into action. After all, he had posed for those damned photos, earning him a stern telling-off from dear old Maggie, but the damage had been erased in a day, conveniently overshadowed by one of the opposition being caught romping with a male gigolo.
He rang the doorbell, half-expecting no answer. He would say he had come, make his attempt, and chalk it up to one of his fleeting flights of fancy. When no response came, he turned on his heel, ready to leave. He had done his due diligence and could wash his hands of the whole business, preferably back in bed—with good company. If Charles wanted to wallow, that was his business.
Then he heard voices. Coming from the back of the little home.
A female voice. Clear and familiar.
Rupert, never one to ignore his instincts, edged past the back gate and a particularly vicious rhododendron, careful not to snag his coat. Peering through the carefully maintained greenery, he caught sight of the little O’Hara orphan.
You were seated on a green filigree iron chair, your hands folded in your lap, your plain dress fanning out against the abomination of garish florals that adorned the garden furniture—something that looked like it had been pilfered from a grandmother’s attic. Yet, somehow, it suited you. Your curves were plush, the fabric stretching just so over soft thighs and a generous bust. There was a fullness to you, an undeniable presence, something solid and warm against the stark fragility of Charles, who sat slumped across from you.
Opposite you, Charles leaned forward, his elbows braced against his knees, his red hair unkempt, his shoulders heavy with something Rupert had never quite seen on him before—defeat.
“You can’t keep doing this,” you said softly. “On your own. You could ask for help. There are district nurses, services… you’re not alone, you know.”
Charles let out a bitter laugh, wiping at his face roughly. “I am though, aren’t I?” His voice cracked, barely above a whisper. “Mother barely knows who I am anymore, and the only person I ever loved wanted to marry a woman—not me. And Tony—fucking Tony—called me a liability. Demoted me.” His voice hitched, and for the first time, Rupert saw something raw in him.
You hesitated for only a moment before speaking. “No, I don’t know exactly how that feels. But I know what it’s like to be alone in a room full of people. To feel completely alone in the world.”
Charles scoffed. “How could you possibly?”
“Did you know I have a huge family?” you asked. “Grandparents, uncles, aunts, cousins, second cousins, even thirds. When my parents died, not one of them gave a damn about what happened to me.” You let out a humorless laugh. “But the O’Haras wanted to help. Declan was my godfather. He saw a girl who had no one and decided that was enough reason to take me in.”
Rupert felt something claw at his chest. He hadn’t known that. He had never given it much thought, really. You had always been there, on the fringes, a quiet presence in Taggie’s world. A friend, perhaps. A distant relative. Hell, for all he knew, you could have been the help.
“That was kind of them,” Charles murmured.
“It was,” you admitted. “It’s complicated, though. Maud thinks… it doesn’t matter what Maud thinks. It’s messy. It’s not the same, but I understand what it’s like to be so fucking lonely. To feel like you have nowhere to turn. To miss something that’s gone. I miss my parents like you miss your mother. It’s hard. Sometimes, you just need someone to see you. I see you. And that’s why I need you to know you’re not alone. Please, let me help.”
Your voice was soft and sad, and you reached across the table and circled your own hands around Charles’s.
Charles’s sobs echoed across the garden, his figure shaking as his grief filled the space, completely ignored by the old woman dozing in the sun in the furthest corner of the garden, oblivious to the weight of the conversation before her.
Rupert studied the scene, his sharp eyes flicking between you and Charles. Through the obnoxious foliage, he saw you frown, and it didn’t fit your face. It was the kind of face that should always be smiling—not grinning like an idiot or offering one of those sultry smiles women and men flashed him when he walked into a room, but a serene, knowing smile, like those in the great romantic paintings that graced his home. With another round of sobs, he watched you shift, dress hitching to reveal a sliver of thigh as you rounded the table, taking the poor wretch into your arms, soothing him like a mother would a child. Your features were goddess personified, your skin glowing in the winter sun, smooth and warm despite the layers of wool you had wrapped around yourself.
“Let’s get you inside,” you cooed.
“But Mother…” he protested softly.
“Don’t worry. I’ll get your mother after we get you settled.”
Rupert flinched. He would help. But he couldn’t bear to take his eyes off you. Like some sort of mythical goddess descended from Olympus to tend to lowly mortals. Rupert’s gaze only tore away as you disappeared into the house.
Cigarette smoke curled upward, lazily dissipating in the cold air as Rupert stared at the polished door. The top of his convertible was down, despite the chill of January. The sun, deceptively warm against his face, cast a soft glow, but the breeze still cut through him, sharp and biting. He didn’t mind it much—his woolen jacket kept the worst of it at bay—but there was something about the stillness that gnawed at him. The quiet was unusual. And it felt wrong. Like something he couldn’t quite grasp was lurking just beneath the surface, waiting to make itself known.
He should have left by now. He should’ve driven off and called it a day. But he couldn’t. Something about the scene unfolding before him kept him anchored in place. Charles, pitiful and blubbering, clinging to you as if you were the only thing that tethered him to reality. His tear-soaked face buried itself in your shoulder, desperate, and for a moment Rupert felt a sharp flicker of irritation. But you—you—you were different.
You were calm. Poised. Beautiful even in the middle of this mess. It wasn’t just that you looked good. It was the way you moved. There was a kind of ease to you, something almost ethereal. The way you stood, the way you smiled—real, genuine—not the kind of smile that people give out of obligation. You didn’t try to placate or comfort. You just were. And that made Rupert feel... unsettled.
You weren’t just offering sympathy to Charles. You were offering something more. Something deeper. But what? He couldn’t quite place it. And that irritated him more than it should have.
You didn’t need anything from him. You didn’t need anything from anyone, really. That was clear the moment you pressed something small into Charles’s hand and turned to leave, your body gliding with a quiet confidence, like you weren’t just walking down a street, but somehow commanding the space. Rupert’s eyes followed you, but it wasn’t just your figure he tracked—it was you. That strange, magnetic aura you carried, something untouchable, that made him feel small, out of place, like he didn’t quite belong in the same world.
He hated how much it affected him.
The cigarette between his fingers had burned down to nothing. He flicked it out the window, cursing under his breath, sinking deeper into the plush leather of the seat. He tried to clear his head. Damn it, he couldn’t get you out of his mind. You were a woman, sure. But not like the others. Not like the ones who chased him, desperate and eager. No, you didn’t need him. You weren’t even trying, you didn't even know he was there. Maybe thats what made him so intrigued. A little bit of voyeurism was good for the soul. And that—that—was what made him want you.
He tried to reason with himself, tried to talk sense into the gnawing curiosity that seemed to claw at him from the inside. Women like you didn’t just stumble into his life. You didn’t want him. You didn’t need him. Hell, he didn’t need or want your type either. But here he was, thinking about you in a way he didn’t think about anyone else—intrigued, maybe even a little turned on, but confused.
A line from a Sylvia Plath poem came to him, one he hadn’t thought about in years, but it was a line that had always lingered in the back of his mind. "Pure acetylene virgin attended by roses." That was it. That was you. Untouchable. Otherworldly. A goddess—something that didn’t belong in his world. It reminded him of fleeting moments he had caught of you around the Priory, kind, helpful, but distant. Like you existed in a different realm entirely. And that unnerved him.
It was maddening. He scoffed under his breath. This wasn’t supposed to happen. He wasn’t supposed to care. He didn’t care. He didn’t chase women. That wasn’t his thing.
His thoughts raced, spinning out of control. What would it take to make you notice him? To drag you into his world, even just for a moment?
No. He shook his head, pushing the thought aside. This wasn’t like him. He didn’t get tangled up in this kind of mess. He didn’t chase women, his conquests were a dance of two partners, circling each other.
Maybe—just maybe—it wouldn’t hurt to see you again. To invite you to dance.
Rupert clenched his jaw, staring again at the polished door. His mind swirled with the thought of you, the unease building with every passing second. This was ridiculous. He was losing his grip over something he barely knew. He had seen it all before—women with soft smiles, big eyes, desperate for attention. But you? You didn’t need him. You wouldn’t want him. And for some reason, that bothered him. Rupert cursed again, more forcefully now, fingers tightening around the steering wheel. This wasn’t supposed to be happening. But no matter how much he tried to shake it off, that nagging thought refused to leave. You weren’t just another woman. You were something—someone—he couldn’t quite figure out. And for the first time in a long time, Rupert wasn’t sure he even wanted to figure you out.

Tumblr media
After a tense and harrowing period filled with the anguished cries of players bracing for their potential demise, mingled with the occasional bursts of cheerful laughter and speeches fueled by greed—much like your own—you and your brother decide to approach Player 456. The atmosphere is thick with dread and desperation, but you feel a flicker of hope as you step forward.
"Hello," your brother begins, his voice steady but cautious. The man before you, 456, looks weary, his face etched with disappointment—perhaps in humanity itself. His expression reminds you of your father’s, back when he lost everything in a gamble. The resemblance is uncanny, and you can’t help but feel a pang of irony.
"I’m 111," you state, gesturing to yourself "and this is my brother, 55." You offer an awkward smile, trying to mask your unease. 456’s gaze is heavy, his eyes reflecting a deep sorrow that seems to weigh him down.
Nearby, Player 390 is speaking to 456, his tone a mix of frustration and desperation. "I don’t know about you, but that 20 million won’t even cover my interest. If I just play one more game..." he mutters, his voice trailing off. It’s clear that the two know each other, their camaraderie evident even in this grim setting. But the conversation feels hollow, devoid of any real comfort.
"Jungbae—" 456 interrupts, his voice low and somber. "Last time I was here, someone said the exact same thing. And in the end, that person died here." His words hang in the air, heavy with regret and loss.
"Then help us, sir," a calm voice interjects. It’s Player 001, the deciding voter. His movements are deliberate, a blend of elegance and caution that immediately draws your attention. He steps closer, his presence commanding yet enigmatic.
"You said you’ve played these games before," 001 continues, his tone measured. "I pressed the O button because of you. Honestly, I was scared. I wanted to quit and leave." 456 looks at him, his brow furrowed, his lips pressed tightly together. The tension between them is palpable.
Seizing the moment, you nudge your brother and blurt out, "So did we! All that shit is mental as hell, but you motivated us! If you survived, then why can’t we win too?" Your voice is brimming with energy, a stark contrast to the somber mood around you.
"Look, you’re not exactly...the definition of strength and youth," your brother clears his throat. He shoots you a quick glance, then bows slightly in apology. "She didn’t mean it like that," he says, trying to smooth over your bluntness.
"The point is, you made it!" you continue, undeterred. "I used to be a Girl Scout, so I’m strong and sharp as hell. And my brother—look at him!" You grab your brother’s arm, flexing his muscles proudly. "He was in marine boot camp! With the two of us in these games, everyone will be just fine, for real!" Your words are laced with adrenaline, your excitement bubbling over.
Player 001 studies you with a curious smirk, his gaze lingering as if he’s trying to figure you out. There’s something about him—something alluring yet unsettling—but you can’t quite put your finger on it.
"Let’s focus on the second game," 001 says calmly, redirecting the conversation. "You’re a winner. Could you tell us what it’s going to be?"
456 hesitates for a moment before answering. "Back when I was here...the second game was dalgona."
"Dalgona?" your brother asks, his brow furrowing. "The sugar candy with a shape you have to carve out?"
"That’s right," 456 confirms. "We had to choose one of four shapes and carve it out without breaking it."
"So, which shape was the easiest?" 001 inquires, his tone steady. You can’t help but steal glances at him, intrigued by his calm demeanor and the air of mystery that surrounds him.
"Triangle," 456 replies without hesitation.
"And the hardest one?"
"Umbrella."
"Some people actually chose the umbrella?" your brother asks, incredulous. 456 nods solemnly.
"Those unlucky bastards must have bitten the dust," 001 says, if looks could kill, 456 eyes would shoot lasers.
"So that means we should all just pick the triangle," 001 concludes, a hint of a scoff in his voice. "Everyone could probably pass the round."
You turn to your brother with a wide smile.
"See? Let's just choose the triangle, and we'll be alright! Remember the time we placed bets on who’d carve the shape quicker?"
Your brother smiles warmly at the nostalgic memory. "The loser had to wash the dishes."
From the corner of your eye, you notice Player 001 watching the two of you, listening intently to the conversation as if studying your dynamic. His dark eyes glimmer with quiet intrigue, his composed demeanor never wavering.
"Fishy, I'll be right back. I'm going to the bathroom," your sibling announces, standing up and stretching his arms.
You nod, giving him a playful poke. "Don't drown."
Left alone, you sit on your bunk, idly munching on the meal provided—a portion of rice topped with a fried egg. The food isn't bad, just slightly cold, but you eat it anyway. Hunger gnaws at your stomach after the day's ordeal.
The air in the dormitory is thick with hushed conversations, murmurs of strategies, and the occasional burst of laughter fueled by greed or camaraderie. Overhead, dim fluorescent lights cast a sterile glow, their flickering hum blending into the restless atmosphere.
"You two seem close," a voice remarks smoothly.
You glance up to find Player 001 approaching you. There’s something eerie yet strangely fatherly about his presence. The way he moves—cautious, deliberate, yet with a flicker of elegance—makes the hairs on your arms stand on end.
"Well, we are siblings," you reply, setting your food down and taking in his presence.
He observes you with an unreadable expression before speaking again. "You both pressed O. Shouldn’t your big brother be the one protecting you instead of agreeing to endanger your life for money?"
Your stomach tightens at his words, a sharp pang of defensiveness rising within you.
"I don’t know what kind of sibling relationship you have, sir, but my brother is a good man. He's not like that!" you snap, your eyes narrowing.
001 raises his hands slightly in a pacifying gesture, his lips curving into a small, almost amused smirk. "My apologies. I didn’t mean it like that. It’s just... surprising to see a young woman such as yourself choosing to compete in death games—and her brother supporting it."
His tone is unsettlingly calm, laced with curiosity. You study him for a moment, unsure of what to make of him. The enigmatic air about him makes your skin crawl, yet at the same time, you can't help but feel drawn to his presence.
"May I ask you something?"
The man’s voice was smooth, deliberate—each syllable laced with quiet intrigue. His dark eyes studied you with unsettling patience, like a seasoned gambler assessing his hand before making a move.
Your brow arched, curiosity piqued. "Yes?"
"What circumstances pushed you into this?" His gaze held a peculiar warmth, almost comforting in contrast to the cold, indifferent walls of the dormitory.
You exhaled slowly, fingers idly scraping at the chipped plastic tray on your lap. The rice had gone lukewarm, the egg rubbery, but hunger was a cruel thing—you’d learned to eat whatever you could get.
"I got a lot of fines from petty theft," you admitted, voice laced with something between bitterness and amusement. "Stole from the wrong guys eventually. And, you know, my dad left behind a mountain of debt. My brother’s in the same boat. On top of that, our mom’s been dying for years, but hospital bills don’t care about timing."
Your gaze dropped, the weight of reality pressing down as you poked at the meal absently. The dim fluorescent lights above buzzed, casting sterile light over the room.
001 offered a small, knowing smile. It was subtle, barely there, but it felt calculated—like he already understood your answer before you even said it.
"Petty theft, you say," he mused, tilting his head slightly. "Was it to support your family, or…?" His voice trailed off, inviting you to fill in the gaps.
You paused, considering.
"At first, yeah," you admitted. "I started pickpocketing to scrape together money for food, my mom, education typical stuff. But then…" A dry chuckle left your lips as you shook your head. "It became a habit. A thrill. That adrenaline rush? Kind of addictive. Next thing I knew, I was swiping makeup just for the hell of it, but ultimately I stole from the wrong guys, on top of the fines"
001's eyes narrowed ever so slightly, a flicker of amusement glinting behind them.
"Curious little thing, aren’t you?"
You smirked, running a hand through your hair. "What can I say? Gambler papa and dying mama don’t provide the best guidance."
A chuckle of your own, lighthearted yet laced with something darker. The kind of humor you and your brother had mastered—joking through the unbearable.
001 regarded you with that same eerie, unreadable smirk, as if filing away every word you said for later.

“Jamie,” Avery said as she laid a hand on her boyfriend’s shoulder. He turned to give her a soft smile.
“Heiress.” She could tell he was holding something back. And she had a few suspicions about what that something was.
“I know what the date is, Jameson Hawthorne.” He tensed for the briefest moment under her hand before relaxing again.
“Happy birthday, heiress.”
“You know that wasn’t the day I was talking about,” Avery said softly. They both knew exactly what she was talking about. They both knew exactly why today was what it was.
October eighteenth. The happiest and worst day of Jameson’s life. The day Avery was born and the day Emily died.
“I know,” Jameson muttered softly, leaning down to kiss his girlfriend. It was soft. He was letting her decide what to do with it. But really, what choice was there but to kiss him back? Deep and yearning. It was a feeling she wanted to go on for forever. But it couldn’t and they both knew that.
“You’re going to have to talk about it at some point you know,” Avery said, pulling away. She was close enough to feel his breath tickle her skin. Close enough to just lean in and let the world melt away yet again. To just let everything go and fall into his arms. But she couldn’t when he was hurting. They both knew that.
“Can’t we just celebrate the good thing?” His breath whispered across her face. She wanted nothing more than to celebrate today, but she wanted to do it when one of her favorite people in the world wasn't in pain.
“You’re hurting, Jamie.” He let out a soft sigh but didn’t back away.
“Today will never be easy. I think you know that. But it’s easier when I’m with you. When I think about the good things and not the bad.” He lifted his hand and rested it on her face. “Like the fact that today was the day you were born into this world. The day that meant that sometime in the future, we would meet each other. The day that led to this.”
“Jamie.” Her voice was barely audible. She was scared that any volume louder than that would break the delicate calm in the storm they had created.
“Heiress.” He returned with the same gentleness.
“I love you.” And they descended into a kiss yet again. Just when their lips touched, she heard someone clearing their throat. Avery whipped her head around, and saw Nash standing in the doorway with a smug grin. Crap.
“You know,” the eldest Hawthorne brother said, walking in. “You really ought to close the door when you’re making out.” He looked over at Avery. “Happy birthday.”
“Oh, um, th– thank you,” Avery managed to stutter out. She was sure her face was red at this point. What was more embarrassing than having your boyfriend’s older brother slash older sister’s fiancé walking in on you kissing? Jamie sighed, narrowing his eyes at his brother.
“Why are you here, Nash.”
“I was bored,” he said, shrugging. Then he paused for a moment before turning to Jamie with concern in his eyes. “How are you doing?” Jameson rolled his eyes with a scoff.
“I’m fine, Nash.” Nash looked at Avery, raising his eyebrows.
‘Better,’ Avery mouthed, taking her boyfriend’s hand. Nash nodded. That was good. As the oldest brother, he was always worried about them. But today especially. Emily’s death day was never good for Jamie and Gray. But Jamie has Avery to keep him from doing anything too reckless now, and he was grateful for that.
“Has anyone seen Gray today?” He asked. Avery felt Jameson’s hand tense in her own.
“You haven’t?” To anyone else, his voice would have sounded carefree and light. But Avery knew what he was really feeling. Despite how he wanted everyone to think, Jameson cared about his brothers a lot. He was worried. And the more worried he got, the more he tended to pretend that he wasn’t.
“I was going to check the pool next,” Nash said with a shrug.
“No,” Jameson said, a strange expression on his face. “His two AM swim should be over by now.” His tone was mocking, but Avery knew better. A look of realization dawned on his face as he let out a curse.
“You know where he is, don’t you,” Nash said, watching as his brother put on a thin jacket, no doubt getting ready to leave the house. Jamie paused, letting out a dramatic sigh.
“Oh, ‘tis so woeful being the only genius in this house.” He left the room, but not before giving one more smirk back at Avery and Nash. She started to follow him out, but Nash put a hand on her shoulder.
“Something about this tells me that they need to do this alone,” he muttered. He shot her a grin. “And if they end up not killing each other in the next ten minutes, we can go get them then.” Avery nodded, before turning to Nash with a puzzled expression.
“How will we know where to go?” Nash shot her another grin, and then it clicked. “You already know where he is, don’t you.” Nash shrugged.
“I figured this was something they should do themselves first.” Of course he already knew. “Although,” he added. “I don’t particularly like the spot Gray chose.” He shrugged, but Avery could tell he was worried too. The brothers cared about each other. And Nash being the oldest one, well, he’s had more experience than all of them in dealing with and taking care of the Hawthorne brothers. “I’ll text you in five,” he called out behind him as he left her room.
****
The wind was cold, but Grayson couldn’t feel it. It was unusually cold for an October day, but he supposed it fit. It was funny, in a twisted sort of way how much he wanted to just– no. He wasn’t allowed to show that. He wasn’t allowed to say that. He could only think that because he needed to be perfect. And perfect people don’t think about jumping off to see if they would fly, knowing damn well they can’t.
Perfect people wouldn’t be like Grayson Hawthorne.
He would just swim. Just swim until he physically couldn’t anymore, then he’d swim one more lap after that. To get rid of the noise. To get rid of the hurt. To get rid of the numb. But it always returned with a vengeance the moment he stopped. But this cliff? This cliff was fine. Yeah, it was fine. He could just– he could just stay here a little longer, right?
He had lost track of time at this point. How long had he been up here, looking over the edge? How long had he been shut off and numb to the world around him? Well, he knew the answer to that. Since practically forever. He couldn’t remember a single day when nothing hurt. When nothing was wrong. It didn’t matter. It couldn’t matter. He wouldn’t let it matter.
Sometime, somewhere in the fog that had taken over his brain, he heard footsteps from behind him. It was funny how he could be so lost yet so aware at the same time. He picked on the littlest things these days, yet he was still never fully present for any of it.
At first he thought he was making it all up. He’s made up entire people before, so what's stopping him from making up this sound? Still he whipped his head around, and was filled with the slightest of shock and relief that he wasn’t making it up.
“So I was right,” he heard his brother say when he turned his head back around. Jameson sounded smug, but Grayson had long gained the ability to see – and hear – through his facade. He was worried. Grayson wanted to scoff and shake some sense into him because Grayson Hawthorn did not need any worry. He didn’t deserve it.
“How are you today, Jameson?” He asked, because asking Jameson and making sure he was ok was easier than telling him that Grayson wasn’t. He wouldn't admit it was because he cared about his brother. He just wouldn’t. He was met with a scoff coming from his right as Jameson sat down next to him.
“I’m fine.”
“Yeah, sure.” Grayson said. His brother could deflect as much as he wanted, but Grayson could do it better.
“Well that’s rich coming from the person who’s sitting on the edge of the cliff where they watched someone die.” Grayson could do nothing but shrug. There was a pause before Jameson spoke again. “It’s hard, but I’m getting through it. Avery’s helping.” Grayson nodded. That was good. As much as he hated to show it, he hated the idea of any of his brothers being hurt. “How are you?” So he really did ask it, huh.
“I’m fine.” He was aware that he was echoing Jameson, but he couldn’t quite bring himself to care.
“Yeah, because sitting on the edge of the cliff where Emily died for who knows how long at this point is certainly the definition of fine.” He flinched when her name was mentioned and he knew Jameson noticed. He was relieved when it wasn’t brought up. “Talk to me, Gray.” But he couldn’t. Didn’t he understand? He couldn’t. He let out a quiet sigh.
“Life is funny, isn’t it?” Grayson turned to his brother for the first time since he arrived, laughing darkly. He turned back to the direction of the edge. “It just has to make them both land on the same date, doesn’t it.” He turned his head up to look at the sky. Jameson didn’t talk. “I’m just– I’m so sick of it.” He couldn’t bring himself to care that he was revealing what he had kept buried for his entire life, and to his brother no less.
“Of the dates?” Jameson sounded light, like he didn’t have a care in the world, but Grayson heard the heaviness in his voice nonetheless.
“Of life.” He wasn’t sure what he was expecting, unearthing feelings he had taught himself to suppress for as long as he could remember. But it felt like nothing. Like he was just empty.
“You were going to jump off that cliff.” Jameson said, his voice a mix of emotions that Grayson didn’t have the energy or motivation to pick apart. The part he did catch though, was that it wasn’t a question.
“No.” On some level, he was aware that he was talking. But it felt like he was underwater. Which was funny, because he realized that he sort of wanted to be. Underwater. And to never come back up. “I was going to step off.” He realized on some level that his voice sounded hollow. Like it had died a long time ago, and was decaying. It was funny because that was how he felt. Turned out his voice reflected it too. He realized he had a strange sense of humor.
“How long?” And Grayson knew exactly what he was asking. How long had he been this way? How long had he wanted to simply die and not be revived?
“The question you ought to ask isn’t how long,” he said, “rather when am I not.” He heard footsteps coming from behind them. Ah, so their ten minutes alone were up according to Nash.
“Have you guys gotten all your angst out yet?” He heard his youngest brother say. Leave it to Xander to lighten the mood.
“Meh,” Jameson said, and Grayson could hear him smirking. He knew without looking that Avery sat down next to his brother, and Nash was in the process of sitting down next to him. And Libby sat next to Nash, Max sat next to Avery, and Xander sat next to Max.
“So,” Avery said after a moment of silence. “The cliff?” Grayson shrugged.
“Personally,” Nash started saying, placing a hand on Grayson’s shoulder. He found that he strangely didn’t mind. “I think it’s a bit cold, but oh well.”
“Ok, now that everyone is here,” Jameson said after another moment of silence. “You can’t lie anymore. How are you really, Gray?” He was aware his heart was pounding, but he was too busy making sure he didn’t cry. Because Grayson Hawthorn could not cry. How long had he spent his childhood wishing, pleading that someone would ask him that? But now– now he didn’t know what to say.
“I have no idea.” His voice was monotone and conveyed no emotion at all. Just the way he liked it. Just the way Tobias liked it.
“That’s ok,” Nash said, and something in him broke. He felt a tear silently fall from his eyes. That was another thing. Crying silently. He had taught himself how to do that when he used to cry in the middle of the night before he had mastered the art of blocking everything out. And they just kept coming.
And then Jameson hugged him and they fell faster. They never hugged. Jameson pulled back and looked into his eyes.
'I know,' they were saying. 'I’ve got you. You’re safe. I know.'
The date would always be hard. But they had each other. And that made it that much more tolerable. And it would be ok.
It would be ok.

Robin: Grandma! Sidney: Hi, honey. Robin: Hi. Sidney: Watcha doing?
[Robin wasn’t sure anymore, but he needed to ask something. He wasn’t used to talking to his grandmother though-.. even though he could, it always felt weird and forced. He decided he’d probably just have to be blunt]
Robin: Can I ask you something? Sidney: Shoot. Robin: Can we keep it a secret? I don’t want mom n’ dad to know I asked… Sidney: I can keep a secret.
[Sidney found a sheltered spot behind a rock and patted the sand beside her; Robin had barely taken a seat before launching his question at his grandmother, catching her off guard]
Robin: Has papa ever died-.. or come close?
[Sidney blinked, blindsided by Robin’s question]
Robin: I wanna know the truth too, like.. don’t do that thing grown-ups do n’ coat everything in syrup. Sidney: You really want the non-sugar-coated version..? Robin: Yeah.
[Sidney squinted at Robin, unsure how to proceed. He could tell she didn’t think it was her place to tell him]
Sidney: Why haven’t you asked your father? Robin: I don’t want to. Sidney: He’d tell you, if you asked-.. he’d be grateful for it too. Robin: Grateful? Why?
[Sidney sucked her teeth and buried her hands in the sand for a moment, thinking]
Sidney: Your dad and I never saw eye to eye when he was young, sometimes we still don’t-.. he didn’t trust me enough to talk to me, and I didn’t bother asking, or fixing it. It’s caused a lot of problems between us, so I think he’d appreciate you trusting him enough to ask. Robin: It’ll upset him though. Sidney: Well, tough-.. he can’t hide his past from you forever, he should know by now it always comes n’ bites you on the ass eventually.
[Robin frowned, feeling defensive on behalf of his father]
Robin: He wanted to tell me. Sidney: You’ve already asked?
[Robin shook his head, earning himself a confused look from Sidney; everything was so hard to explain when you had to tiptoe around the truth]
Robin: I want you to tell me. Sidney: I’ll tell you on one condition-.. you ask him about it too. He’ll have my guts for garters if he knew I’d told you and kept it from him. I can’t keep this particular secret, I’m afraid. Robin: Fine.
[Sidney shook her head and sighed; she couldn’t believe she’d been talked into this nonsense by a ten-year-old]
Sidney: Yes, he almost died-.. technically he did, but that’s just a medical thing, I suppose. Robin: Did you save him? Sidney: No.. I was there, but I couldn’t. Robin: Why not? Sidney: I just couldn’t do it; I was a mess! You can’t imagine how it felt, seeing him-…
[Sidney cut herself off, not wanting to go too far-.. but Robin didn’t need to imagine how it felt, he could feel it too. He quickly swallowed the lump in his throat, desperate to know more before his brain imploded with unanswered questions and half-truths]
Robin: What happened? How’d he end up like that? Sidney: Well… Robin: I know about the bad stuff he used to do-.. he drank a lot, was it that? It was in a bar or something, right? Sidney: He’s told you about that?
[Robin shrugged; his father had only alluded to such things, but Sidney didn’t need to know that, nor did she need to know what Larry had inadvertently shown him]
Sidney: Oscar had a lot of issues with drugs and alcohol when he was younger-.. it almost got the better of him that night, I think he just went too far by accident. Robin: So, it wasn’t on purpose? Sidney: Not exactly. Robin: What do you mean? Sidney: He knew the risks-.. but you really shouldn’t be asking about this sort of thing, honey. Robin: Just ‘cause I’m little doesn’t mean I can’t understand.
[Sidney chuckled; the apple certainly didn’t fall far from the tree. Robin was just as headstrong and persistent as his father]
Sidney: Maybe not, but you should be climbing trees and thinking about what’s for pudding-.. don’t worry yourself about all this stuff too much. Not yet, at least. Robin: It’s hard not to-.. did he get better after what happened? Sidney: For a while, then he got worse, then he got better again-.. go n’ talk to him, he’ll make you feel better about what happened. He’s had a good handle on himself for a while now; since before you were born, if I’m not mistaken. Robin: That’s a long time. Sidney: It sure is. Robin: It never really leaves though, does it? Not completely.
[Sidney hesitated briefly, surprised by the depth of Robin’s understanding]
Sidney: No, not really. Robin: Okay, thanks.
[Sidney yanked Robin back into the sand before he could run off]
Sidney: Don’t make me be the one to tell him about this-.. you talk to him, you hear me? Robin: I hear you… Sidney: You better! Don’t think I won’t make sure.
[Robin nodded, hastily escaping Sidney’s grasp, and her intensity. He had no choice now; if grandma Sid said she meant business, she damn well meant it]

I decided to take notes while I played through 2.3… so here they are
First Scene
-stellaron sealed when we were asleep apparently
-was Sunday the one to tailor everyone’s dreams?
-dreamscape itself exists???
-march’s memories are weird as normal, tentacle tried to reach into her brain but found SOMETHING???
-we were asleep when this all happened and we woke up and immediately asked if it was a dream so something is already up oh boy
Second Scene
-firefly and silverwolf yay
-firefly is still on the wanted list, as Firefly this time
-it was a missing part of her life she got back
-Silverwolf helps her out with not being able to move freely, giving her a way out of dreaming ig??? Helps her navigate through unbothered ?
-idk the mechanics of it if you can’t tell
-Miss Samuel as a fake name lmao
-GENIUS SOCIETY IS HERE?? WHYYY?? HUHHH
-firefly’s script isn’t over yet (third death I assume?)
-“didn’t bring you back to hear an answer like that,” did SW think she already experienced the third death? On her second death was SW the one to revive her, as it seemed like she did that on her own in 2.2?
-yeah she hasn’t done 3rd death yet, and I assume the “unforgettable reward,” is *sighs* time with the Trailblazer
-“How will I know if I don’t try?” Hmmm this confuses me
-SW says she’s already made up her mind
-ooh Kafka asks for some gifts LMAOO, fashionable as always
-to Oti mall I guess, isn’t that one of the people who expressed disappointment in Sunday?
-BLADE ADVICE? telling her to not get tempted, tempted by what?
-YAY SHE GETS NORMAL GIRL TIME THIS IS EXACTLY WHAT I WANTED
-oat cakes for SW or Kafka or Blade? Aww Stellaron Hunter family bonding
-oh is she trying to defy the script?
-adding new footnotes to her destiny, hmm
Third Scene
-TOPAZ POV
-I DIED OMGNDNAKDJKWJDD
-were are on the Radiant Felddpar ship
-Family is there but “Big Boss” isn’t, I assume that’s Jade
-there’s music notes in the air? Robin?
-Topaz points out how weird this choice of location is
-ship belongs to Alfalfa Family
-npc we are talking to also thinks it should have been held in a more secretive area (Moment of Morning Dew)
-not serious enough atmosphere
-something’s up definitely
-Topaz thinks conference is just a prelude- whatever Family organizer wanted to assess the IPC’s stance beforehand
-she thinks they either have their own ambitions and want a preliminary agreement, or want to make the IPC back off, we shall see ig
-Big Boss is a her (definitely Jade), Topaz complimented, saying others must be cautious of her
-tells subordinate Thomas to just tell the rest of her employees to stay focused on the task ahead
-yeah it’s Jade, act shocked, also she’d get mad if he called her that 😭😭
-walking around time
-there is music all around the ship
-not very important but there are paper birds here too
-none of the important figures have arrived to the meeting room yet, so let’s look around
This is just from looking around:
-why are there dream pools on the ship? I thought we were already in the dream?
-the torment eagle things are here too
-and nightingale paintings
-Sparkles bombs, delightful
-why is there a room on the ship that looks like Mishas room in the dream
-it seems like the Family is already aware of the bombs and is looking for them based on the dialogue of the NPCs
-there’s a lost kid on the ship?
-so many doors are closed off
-absurdist clock fun
-the quest is titled “All About Eve” like Eve from the Bible? Is that referring to Jade?
-exhibit that hasn’t been delivered yet
-Robin has instructed them to prepare some things but it seems like the Family isn’t ready yet?
Ok I’m gonna talk to the workers now
-ok talked to the one by Sparkles bombs and Sparkle started talking
-Numby can hear her I think, I don’t think Topaz did
-yeah Topaz doesn’t know they are bombs that Sparkle hands out, apparently she was disguised as man- maybe Sampo?, uh no all the Buttons are in one place
-somehow nobody pressed a button, I don’t believe that, the NPC also says that all guests are terrified of death, but like, how did nobody press it?
-yep we are in the dream bc she wants to feed Numby and questions the food quality in a dream
-Numby does not like Oat Cake Rolls
-Topaz will give them a better meal in reality
-so why is there a dreamscape pool in the dream
-asks more about Radiant Feldspar, which is also owned by Oti Alfalfa, just like the store Firefly wanted to go to
-built an Amber Era ago, it sails across all 12 hours- so they are connected you just have to cross them I guess? Or like does it slip through dimensions
-Topaz recognizes Old Oti, however what’s weird is that despite how she points out how well decorated it is, there seems to be a lot of stuff missing + Robin thing from earlier
-only prestigious guests are invited, so how did that Pepeshi get lost?
-Ship had been sailing since it was built but was halted due to the recent reverberation
-reverberation aka whatever the fuck just happened in 2.2
-Family attendant repeats that everything has been resolved and the Charmony Festival had to be temporarily postponed
-so it’s gonna happen on the ship now, and will also resume the ships voyage, so I guess that’s why Robin ordered some things and everything is a bit out of place
-However, why are they gathering Sparkles Bombs onto the celebration + meeting ship? Why not anywhere else?
-Talent Motivation Department mention
-ppl still coming after Topaz for Jarilo I will kill them <3
-poor girl can’t get a break, JADE IS HERE
CUTSCENE SO MUCH HAPPENED
-Numby does not trust or like Jade at all
-Topaz is fucking star struck on her knees dying down bad gay gay gay
-Jade commends her for the Jarilo project, saying the Express’s favor is far more valuable than the planet itself
-Jade says Topaz can tell her anything, then holds out her Cornerstone as if Topaz would talk to it???
-hmmm
-“you can always tell me anything, remember?” Ah so they are close, and Topaz seems to trust her and vice versa, however I (and Numby) do not trust Jade so there is something sinister going on
Alright cutscene yapping over
-Jade says to drop the title, that they are equals
-Topaz calls her a senior, but I think she just means in rank
-Jade wants Topaz to be at her best- upcoming negotiations leave no room for error
-true purpose of conference: Oti testing limits of 2 stonehearts before offical negotiations can commence, works in their favor bc it will cause future negotiations to go smoother if they can reach an agreement (this is obvious benefit)
-hidden benefit: demonstrates the Family isn’t all that united bc he’s meeting w them first on his own territory + taking control of Charmony Festival too
-they aren’t entirely influenced by the Harmony so their personal desires shine through, influential figures haven’t suppressed their own
-with the Dreammaster gone, the Family has begun to fall apart slowly, seems like after 2.2 Oti took over
-Jade taught her to Listen, test and strike, Jade teases her that she changed the order on Jarilo- Topaz’s personal experience  caused this (her seeing her past/trauma in Belabog)
-meeting time!
-meeting esteemed “supporting actor” hmm
-goal is to create an opportunity for IPC to enter Penacony- Aventurine made a small hole for them to enter, and they are going to tear it wide open
Some more looking around
-the bombs/buttons are gone 😨 and so is that guard
-was there a projector in that room (with the dream pool) before?
-diff family attendant at that spot before
Ok back to plot time
-oh this is the place where the divergent universe takes place (I started it a bit yesterday lol, oops), seems like that’s what the Genius Society will get a hold of at the end of this?
-Oti is a Pepeshi, and I really like his character model, he seems welcoming?
Looking around time again
-the mechanism they use for the Divergent Universe is already there- did Ratio and Screwllum meet with Oti beforehand? Is that how he figured out Dormancy?
-some more locked doors
-Whales outside the window.. (Childe flashbacks)
-let’s talk to Jade before we see Oti
-oh we can’t it just makes us walk beside her
Conversation time
-Oti is hospitable, asks them to forgive him for the wait
-Oti is such a businessman that the Strategic Investment Department makes it a requirement to read his biography
-she’s trying to flatter him but I think Jade is also warning him that she and the rest of the department know everything about him and who he is
-Topaz doesn’t seem to notice that though and praises him for single handedly building Penacony economy
-Oti noticed Jade’s tactics I think
-he gets straight to the point- future of Penacony
-Oti questions wtf Aventurine was doing and why 😭, almost getting killed and for what?
-oh he figured them out LMAOO, yup that was for an opportunity
-haha Jade says “fuck he figured us out” nicely
-she puts the pressure back on him, asking Oti how he would respond
-he first admires her composure at being called out
-“Oti won’t sit idly by when faced with a greedy wolf,” is he referring to the IPC, Aventurine or both?
-offscreen negotiation
-seems he said something that offended Topaz and Jade, Jade says she’s all ears
-Oti says he requested this meeting to dissuade the SID from trying to lay a finger on Penacony
-asks them to back off before they lose face in the future
-Topaz points out their fuck ups- Aventurine almost getting murdered and the Charmony Festival fuck up, that there are plenty of real issues plaguing the area
-Oti says they need to be more creative in the land of dreams
-“My actions will help Penacony take a significant step forward by “self-listing” and going public!” What does that mean
-Jade asks if he’s gonna bypass the IPC and go public on a universal scale (still don’t know what that means)
-rather than letting the IPC take hold, he’s gonna open the sweet dream to everyone in the universe- which is worded REALLY sinister if you ask me- is he gonna try and make everyone in it dream?
-he redirects and says that from today, anyone can become a shareholder in the Land of Dreams, and that’s the Path of Harmony he chooses
-Oti was aware of the Oaks family’s entanglement with the Order, calls them blockheads who prevented this from happening sooner
-Oti is thankful that the “reverberation” (Sunday and Order’s downfall) has allowed for the obstacle between him and his reforms to be eliminated
-publicize their finances so the universe still has faith in them + the Family remains confident in its future
-neither Jade nor Topaz seem happy about this, seems like they don’t feel as if they are on equal footing
-Jade asks Oti if he’s being waiting for Penacony to regain the spotlight, so if the IPC does anything, their actions will be scrutinized by trillions of people
-asks them to consider their next moves carefully
-Jade suggests they conclude the first half of their conference, and that they will respond on the behalf of the IPC later
-he just tells them to take their time (Oti is confident he is in control)
Scene 4- Trailblazer POV
-seems that meeting has concluded as Dan Heng asks if the Alfalfa Family had a meeting with the IPC
-Aventurine told them that to “return the favor”
-I wonder what happened in the meantime to get us here
-Welt points out that Penacony hasn’t changed much since the prison era, suggests that Penacony would rather invite the IPC to the table- on the surface to cooperate- but in reality to secure their own survival
-which is why the Astral Express are now mediators, and Dan Heng doesn’t know who to stand behind
-Welt doesn’t trust the followers of the Harmony to be as innocent as they presume they are
-if either the Family or the IPC were to take control of Penacony, the efforts of the previous nameless to free it from that illusory hedonism would go to waste
-we were in a deep sleep apparently (uh oh)
-one of the dialogue options says that TB felt like they were in a really long dream
-another asks where Himeko is
-Welt says their adventure in Penacony is reaching its conclusion
-After Ena’s dream shattered, Montour System’s branch of the Family took control of the situation, most members of the Oak Family fell unconscious? But their lives weren’t in danger
-Gopher Wood, the previous Dreamaster was confirmed to be the mastermind behind everything, however we know that Sunday killed him. But didn’t he kill him in the dream? So how did gopher wood die in reality? Or did like, the power of the Order that Sunday must have used on him cause that, or did he step outside the dream to face Gopher, then go back in?
-Sunday will face a trial: the Family won’t disclose any further details
-public perceived incident as an attack by evil forces targeting the Charmony festival, believing the Family had failed to safeguard the sweet dream which eroded their credibility significantly
-at least it has the least impact? Even if it’s far from what really went down
-SIOBHAN IS BACK
-she says they will get over it
-“you don’t know who’s awake and who’s pretending to be asleep”- another ominous line
-gives them a toast
-trailblazer asks why she’s there again, Siobhan is just confused
-asks when they will leave Penacony
-Welt says they will stay a bit longer, just not too long
-she says this farewell is missing something
-“maybe a special drink to honor those who are not here” oh yeah Gallagher is gone GONE
-To the Nameless resting in peace… and to Gallagher, oh he’s so gone
Walking around time again
-everyone but Himeko is here
Ok taking this many notes is exhausting and is lowkey killing my enjoyment 😭 so I’ll just leave the REALLY important stuff from now on
-The Family claims the Oak Family used the stellaron to help sink everyone into Ena’s dream
-others had their own delusional dreams
-DH says the hidden dangers of the Order have always been within the Harmony, an issue that has persisted in the Family from the very beginning
-more awareness makes this complicated
-March has a button now too, says she was told the buttons will explode Penacony if pressed
-himeko’s been up to something lately she will tell us at the festival
-Siobhan gives us another drink, saying it will “bring back the flavors of Penacony” which makes me believe it will help us get back here somehow
-Welt is sure it will leave a lasting impression, hmmm
-she says if we happen to find Gallagher, to let him have a sip
Scene 5: Jade POV
-Oti is tricky but there is still hope
-Jade asked Topaz to make a phone call offscreen, presumably to the express who agreed
-talking in code
-Jade asks Topaz if she thinks Penacony is worth it
-Topaz says yes
-Jade questions if this project is too bland for her
-Topaz says she would be here if it weren’t for Aventurine
-Jade pointed out she entrusted him with a cornerstone, which is as precious as life itself to finish this gamble
-however Topaz points at out that Jade’s stone couldn’t have made it in without either of their cornerstones: and that the Jade stone allows Jade to see all desires that flow through the dreams to gain a bargaining chip in the negotiations: this must be the “harvest” Jade was referring to in 2.1, seems like this is her Cornerstone’s ability
-Perhaps that’s why she held it up earlier? To allow Topaz to vent her feelings into the Jade stone?
-Topaz actually staked her Topaz’s stone for Jade’s sake, not Aventurine’s
-Jade is greatful Aven is alive, saying it’s the best outcome, Topaz immediately says they have strayed off topic
-Jade says she will go alone, instructs Topaz to meet “honored guest”- likely the Nameless
-Jade spots Robin
-turns out we were actually in the previously locked off rooms in the back of where we met Oti, he’s still there, and he’s wearing glasses? Was he before? We can’t talk to him tho
-ah this also unlocked some more doors- it’s where the ship is captained, but the captains room is locked
-Robin is preparing for Charmony Festival
-Jade lies saying she’s on her way to meet Oti really she’s just here for info before meeting him
-Robins never met him, she says Alfalfa is respectable when it comes to business, but not necessarily in other respects
-Jade asks where Robin thinks Penacony is heading, Robin is hopeful, thinks Harmony needs new direction
-“no permanent allies or everlasting enemies,”
-2nd half of negotiations- no Topaz this time
-Jade is gonna be meaner bc Topaz isn’t here you go manipulative queen
-says Oti is not the only merchant who has seen the changes in the cosmic market over the past ten Amber Eras
-Jade declares that Penacony has no way of sidestepping the IPC and going public, that they can’t stop the IPC, the IPC will tear down and rebuild as they see fit
-tells Oti that if he doesn’t want to be a laughingstock and have everyone after him, he better drop his “pie-in-the-sky-plan” perhaps he was planning on using Sparkles bombs to take out the IPC ambassadors now that the protection of not being able to die in the dream is no longer there- or at least he has control over it
-Jade reminds him IPC controls more than half the news in the universe
-says trillions of customers will receive a, “The Family’s protection for Penacony has expired. Any mishaps in the Dreamscape could result in permanent brain death,” message from the IPC if Penacony decides to go public
-threatens to make his entire currency worthless with how many contingencies the IPC has, Jade is confident she can pull it off, even from Pier Point
-she promises that the IPC won’t jeopardize the interests of the Family heads under Oti’s leadership if he gives up the plan to go public
-they (IPC) want allies in Asdana, Jade says they can assist Penacony with financing, will acquire 30% equity shares from the Family, and in exchange will also help rebuild Penacony
-Oti thinks it’s too much, and worried about the future
-Jade happily says there are no guarentees- this is based on mutual respect- but the board of directors will consider the interests of the Family heads to some extent
-she points out this would be beneficial for the Family, and for him, if they both take a step back, also points out this will attract more customers like he wanted
-as the head of the Alfalfa family, Oti accepts, seeing no reason to refuse, but as THEIR (Xipe’s) chosen one, he still needs one final answer (hmmm this is an interesting detail)
-talks about the rise of Xipe and fall of Ena, he asks why the IPC seeks to collaborate with the Family (Harmony) rather than the Order, who is far closer in ideals (Preservation)
-Jade says it’s about credit, saying that through the Preservation, the IPC can perpetually ensure credits value, meaning they have no need for the Order, as they have made their own, with Qilpoths “credit” being the heart of everything
-Oti understands this will eventually lead to the IPC taking control over everything
-“this universe doesn’t need two types of Order” (Preservation and the Order)
-Oti says he’s convinced
-code words from before come back in (shit I should have written them down, it was poison something, sweet dew, and apple something, sweet dew shows up this time per Topaz’s invite)
-unsurprisingly, it’s one of the Nameless: Himeko
-Astral Express will be shareholders? Perhaps this is so they can guarantee the future the Nameless wanted like Welt mentioned
-IPC gets 30%, gives 5% to the express to “honor the sacrifices and contributions made by the former Nameless to the Land of the Dreams,” which is A) true B) the real honor is the express now having a foot in the door to prevent Penacony from being like it was before
-Himeko is a member for the board of directors- what board? One in the IPC, or for Penacony, the Family?
-crew agreed to assist in reconstruction of Penacony, and commit to bringing the dreams of Penacony to other worlds
-However, they really wish for the Harmony to not be distorted again, that tragedy must never occur again
-negotiations end, we (as Jade) will go to meet up w Topaz again
-Jade believes the family heads will soon realize the situation, and that Oti’s agreement didn’t just represent their agreement, but the followers of the Harmony in general (this last part is only implied though)
-Topaz says she will handle the arrangements for formal negotiations
-Jade allows her to- gives Topaz a sense of control OOOH THE MANIPULATIONNNNN
-Topaz is shocked bc big responsibility, but Jade interrupts
-she says that Aventurine initiated this case and Topaz was his project partner, but since he overplayed his hand (taking on a case he couldn’t handle on his own?) Jade got pushed to the forefront
-OOH MORE MANIPULATION, Jade says she came here to help Topaz sort out the toughest issues, saying “I trust you’ll be able to wrap things up quite nicely, little Jelena,”
-Topaz’s objections immediately get pushed aside bc of Jades words, and asks Jade to give Diamond her assurance
-Jade tells her to not worry, Diamond has always trusted them, and Jade will put in a good word for her, and Topaz will get her position (P45) back in no time
-Jade claims her business is done so she’s gonna indulge in her own little hobby (I’m scared)
-which is opening a Bonajade Exchange branch on this ship, whatever that is, Jade believes the guests on this ship had or a wealth of valuable treasures tho
-it’s a pawnshop, and Jade says she will leave, saying she’ll “see you around Topaz”
-Topaz has one more question, Jade gladly lets her ask, she asks about the dose of “bitter poison”, wondering how Jade got it (I’m guessing her Cornerstone), it wasn’t her cornerstone, a “lady concerned with the future of the Harmony” told her (maybe this is Robin? But it seems like that was their first meeting? Hmm)
-Jade says she agreed to help her with something later (which makes me think this was Sparkle now haha), and that they can deal with it after they leave Penacony
-“that’s what ‘investment’ is all about”- the seeds of opportunity have already been soon and Jade simply gives them a little bit of nourishment for them to take root, afterwards all they (her and Topaz) need to do is wait patiently
-like right now, and Jade’s final “guest” boarded the ship
I’m insane about this actually yall. TOPAZ CENTRIC STORY??? WHAT IF I DIED. Also I love the way Jade was written in this, they made her as manipulative as I wanted her to be, so yeah I love her THEY COMMITED TO THE BIT I PRAYED FOR TIMES LIKE THIS
Scene 6: Firefly POV
-she boards (rather sneaks onto) the ship, so I assume she’s Jade’s final guest
-oh she’s heading to the pawnshop that grants wishes (it’s definitely Jade’s), perhaps to get those gifts she wanted earlier, or defy her destiny like she wanted to earlier?
-hey those closed off areas are unlocked W
-she spots TB, Robin is also there
-there’s a nice banquet table for people in that room, we got a shot of it earlier during Topaz, Jade and Oti’s meeting, idk what line of dialogue it was for tho
-Firefly overhears Robin saying that she will, “present a gift to the Astral Express on behalf of The Family as a token of gratitude for the Nameless’ contributions to Penacony”, asking for the staff to help her w the arrangements
-Firefly then asks how to get to the pawnshop, yup it’s Jade’s spot, she gets the directions
-Silverwolf was gonna meet w the Genius Society? Why? Also apparently she mentioned Jade’s stuff earlier, I don’t remember that though, maybe I forgot to write it down
-we can look for the TB so I’m going to
-TB is being a dumbass as ever and Firefly is amused
-she wants to talk to us but Firefly wants to meet Jade first
-we can’t go over there even if we want to
-Jade made her exchange in the dream pool room for some reason
-asks Jade to call her Samuel
-Firefly says she wants to give up living, and that she’s willing to give up everything she has
-even Jade is gagged
-Firefly is like yup! Everything!
-Jade says she should turn around bc she’s not familiar with the term, “pawn” aka she’s betting quite literally EVERYTHING
-Jade says she doesn’t have anything of equal value to offer her
-Firefly is upset, says this shop must just be a marketing gimmick
-Jade says she will help Firefly understand what she means, telling her to go and talk to the other customers, when she understands what “pawn” really means
-we see the TB being stupid again, this time w Dan Heng tagging along
-again she plans on catching up w them later
-first person she meets, Stacy, finally won a gamble w the blessing of Lady Bonajade
-there also seems to be way more guests on the ship
-second person she meets, a Pepeshi named Dell, gets his crush named Dorothy to go out with him, implied that he wished for her to say yes
-ppl seem to be gossiping about a grey haired person, either Firefly or TB
-yup it’s TB
-someone has been hiding in the Moment of Sol in Penacony under a fake identity, proposing as a professor at Paperfold academy, apparently this intellatron (Walker) found him (idk who him is) with the help of an influential figure
-ah this is unimportant this was just the wishes of the third person
-Firefly still doesn’t get it, but their wishes did seem to come true
-Jade said it was just to show the exchange was genuine, how she shows how all three of them gave up so much in exchange for their wishes, so yeah, glorified drug dealer, but it is an equal exchange, and Jade only encourages these people’s delusions, giving with the power of her Cornerstone for a hefty price
-uses their endless cycle of desires to get what Jade desires from their whirlpool of horrific decision making
-Jade knows Firefly’s identity, and she asks Firefly if she’s really willing to give up everything, Firefly isn’t surprised though
-Entropy Loss Syndrome was thrust upon all of the Iron Calvary in order to keep them fighting for Glamoth, and from falling into the wrong hands
-Firmament Front is gone so those who know the secret and could cure the disease are nowhere to be found, but Firefly still wishes to continue her existence
-Firefly asks if the IPC has a remedy
-Jade just says there might be a silver lining and leaves it at that
-Firefly realizes that she can’t provide anything of equal value bc nothing she owns has any meaning
-asks Jade if she’s gonna ask her to restrain the other Stellaron Hunters for her survival
-that’s not the case though, Jade acknowledges how remarkable close the Stellaron Hunters are, compares them to the Stonehearts, OOOHH LORE DROP
-Jade says like how the Stoneheart follow Diamond, the Stellaron Hunters are, “Traveling on the Path of Finality but struggling against your destiny, attempting to move in the opposite direction?”
-Firefly remains silent
-Jade hopes all of them will visit her pawnshop one day
-Firefly asks if she can see this as an invitation from Diamond to the Stellaron hunters behind the IPC’s back
-Jade says to consider it a person offer, not representing the IPC or SID
-Firefly says she will pass on the offer, but she has a question
-Firefly points out that SW could let the entirety of Pier Point know of this in seconds, so why would Jade ask this
-Jade says it’s because she believes her and Firefly are the same
OH MY GOD STONEHEART PICTURE
-she believes the Stonehearts band together to get what they want, and have been invited by Diamond to join them whilst on their own journeys
-Jade says all stonehearts carry a void (ambition) that can only be filled from the outside
-also omg Topaz and Aven look GOOOODD GRERRAAAA TOPAZ LOOOS SO FINE EEJFHJEJAKSKWS RAAAAA AVENNNNNNTURJEJNWKAND AAAA
-so Diamond promised them something, he divided the power of the Emanator of Preservation into ten pieces (for the ten stonehearts) and gave each of us a Cornerstone to fill that void
-“Mortal flesh is fragile, yet my heart is unyielding like the monolith. For without this resolve, the way of the Preservation would fade into oblivion.”
-Jade says this pledge goes beyond a mere oath, it’s their collateral in exchange for the Stonehearts desires, and their future
-whatever they gain from it will make the Stonehearts stronger, allowing them to achieve the great cause of the Preservation (what Diamond wants) when the war among the Aeons eventually comes (HUHH WHAT NOWW I MEAN WERE GETTING THEIR GOALS AT LEAST?!!)
-Jade tells Firefly to take her time
-Firefly says she will, and says it’s shame that the pawnshop won’t give her what she wants, as her last attempt (death?) will end with “hope”
-Walker comes to give her his memories
Scene 7: Trailblazer
-he points out how the meeting went smoother than expected
-Charmony festival opening ceremony is starting soon
-AVENTURINE AND BOOTHILL?!!?
-Boothill threatening Aven jokingly but not jokingly, Aven brushes it off
-seems like they came to an agreement off screen
-he notices us + typical flattery, Boothill gives a normal greeting
-Aventurine admits his words are nothing more than flattery and not genuine (at least due to the option I picked)
-Boothill says to set aside the under the table stuff as to not spoil the mood
-Aven gives congratulations bc he can’t be there personally (he’s a hologram) to witness the crew getting celebrated
-Aven says his job was just to give the IPC an opening, which he achieved (even if it was a mess
-Aven says he wouldn’t have been able to dig up such dirty information without the help of a “knowledgeable friend” HMMM IS THAT RATIO???
-Acheron still fucked him up though, and he admits this would have gone smoother had she not injured him
-we thank Boothill, he’s like it’s nothing I’m a galaxy ranger it’s part of our duty, he’s happy Galaxy Rangers are making a comeback and asks the TB to pass on his regards to any Hunt followers he meets
-BOOTHILL STRAIGHT UP ADMITS THAT AVENTURINE IS GONNA HELP HIM FIND OSWALDO SCHNEIDER WHO HE HAS A SCORE TO SETTLE WITH??? HE ADMITS THAT!!? HUHHH, I mean he did say he’s not one to beat around the bush but still
-Aventurine also talks about the feud between the Marketing Development Department (Oswaldo) and Strategic Investment Department (Diamond) is fairly well on wok, but he didn’t expect the Galaxy Rangers to get involved
-he thinks things are gonna get spicy
-I wonder if the IPC knows about this deal between him and Boothill, I doubt it though, and I think Aven might be hiding this from everyone
-this reminds me that he was deliberately acting like he hadn’t grown around Jade during their conversation in 2.2, which makes me think he’s planning to do something beyond just whatever he is gonna do with Boothill, or at the very least Aven wants to make things easier for himself by acting as if Penacony didnt change him
-they wish the TB well, Avens hologram disappears
RATIO.
EVERYONE PAUSSEEE
-he’s standing where the now activated Divergent Universe thing is AAAA
-it’s all over the screen/hj
-OK CALM DOWN BE SERIOUS
-OFF THE BAT TSUNDERE - “your performance at Herta’s space station was… adequate, I suppose,” thats high praise coming from you hehehhehe
-“Hm, no wonder the gambler likes you so much.” HUHHH??! Can’t keep AVENS NAME OUT UR DAMN MOUTH FOR MORE THAN 5 SECONDS??? We didn’t even bring him up
-“This individual is my responsibility during the trip. Hmph, nothing more than an errand from the Office of Academic Affairs,” the who of what now? Not the “hmph” and downplaying
-tells the Trailblazer to take advantage of the opportunity the Charmony Festival provides
-TB asks Ratio how he rates Aventurine, Ratio says that the IPC and Guild position them as strategic partners; but Ratio sees himself as a teacher, and like everyone in Ratio’s life, Aventurine as a student, Aven isn’t an ideal student, but not utterly obtuse. He remarks that the void inside of him (which could be referring to either the one mentioned as being filled by the Stonehearts or just Aven’s general lack of a will to live) cannot be filled by talent and knowledge. Ratio hopes he doesn’t turn into a philosophical zombie. Which I like that up, and it’s basically someone who behaves like a person but does not have a conscious experience. What I think Ratio is suggesting is that what Aventurine is missing isn’t talent or knowledge, but genuine connections with other people, goals, desires, a purpose, things that aren’t so material
-TB teases Ratio, saying they thought he would make them get their act together, Ratio says that saying such a thing means we haven’t grasped the essence of learning, OH MY GOD HE SAYS EXACLTY HOW I BELIEVE HIM TO VIEW KNOWLEDGE SOMEONE SEDATE ME
“Acquiring knowledge aims to enhance living” I KNOW THIS IS A SIMPLE LINE BUT ITS LIKE AT THE CORE OF RATIOS PHILOSOPHY, HE WANTS TO SPREAD KNOWLEDGE TO HELP OTHERS GROW AND PICK THEMSELVES UP
oh my god, that’s why Aventurine isnt his typical student, to improve Aventurine’s life, he DOESNT need knowledge or talent, so Ratio has to try other methods…
Forgive me for the person I’m about to become I fear
-we say good by to him 😭😭😭😭
-“I detest noisy gatherings, as they intrude upon my thoughts.. What a waste of time” AUTISM!! BRO IS OVERSTIMULATED LEAAVE GO ELSEWHERE WHY ARE YOU HERE UR CLEARLY HAVING A BAD TIMEEEE
Alright bye Ratio onto the next one
-TOPAZ AND NUMBY??!?
-Topaz eco ship mention??
-ooh we ask her about her Cornerstone and if she can transform herself like Aven
-her ability isn’t as “visual”? So it’s not a transformation
-LORE DROP; abilities of Ten Stonehearts are all different, some can even read thoughts and grasp desires (Jade), she warns us to be careful
-Topaz is greatful for the timing in Belabog bc it let her and Bronya be friends
-Jade convo next!
-I picked Sundays name and she went “not a bad name, just lacking in virtue,”
-she does her deal shtick, I’m gonna ask to revive Akivili
-poor girl is dumbfounded, but she accepts 😭
-she asks for the tail of an animal and I think she asks for the tail of the cat in the stellaron hunters 😭
-sorry Akivili you aren’t returning
-ARGENTI
-his lines aren’t voiced unfortunately
-he’s talking about the beauty as always, saying we are already walking that path due to our virtue
-apparently if an admirer of Beauty gets lost in the pursuit of power, they risk descending into “the Omen of Evil” a form that’s neither human nor beast
-he compares this to Sunday; whose actions argenti believes were no different from the Omen of Evil, and that he lost his way along the path of righteousness
-he wasn’t there at the final battle because Ena’s dream was too realistic and he couldn’t bid farewell to a fallen friend who had turned into a beast, so Argenti stayed within the dream for a while
-he blames himself for not passing the trial of Beauty this time, and for hesitating, wishing to become more determined that ever
-him and Sunday competing for who has more religous trauma LMAOO
Alright I’m done talking let’s wait for the opening now
-Firefly is here!
-we go over how wack the plot has been
-she asks if we will be leaving again
-I picked the idk option and Firefly says not to worry bc we are on the path of the Trailblaze
-Elio told Firefly that her journey will tell her how to live on and the rest is up for her to find out, and she will hunt for leads everywhere, including Penacony
-TB says that no wonder she was investigating the Watchmaker, but even if she didn’t get what she wanted, Firefly says she get a deal from Jade
-we warn her not to make deals w the IPC bc they are shady
-Firefly is like no dw I didn’t do anything stupid or get anyone involved
-she apologies for lying to us earlier about being from the Iris Family
-I accept it bc I’m not a cunt but I’m glad they allow you to turn her down
-OOH FIREFLY’S STRUGGLE AT EXPRESSING HER EMOTIONS YESS HOYOVERSE THIS IS WHAT I WANTED GRRRRR
-uh oh bloodhound family is here
-Firefly is sad and like “I guess we have to say our goodbyes”
-but she’s hopeful bc her “script” hasn’t ended yet- so they will meet again
-TB is worried but figures she will be fine, we decide to check on her later after we attend the festival
-we get a message from Firefly, saying she handled everything but she’s sad she won’t get to see Robin perform
-Ceremony begins and Robin shows up
-March is fangirling
-Robin is eating as always
-she’s like “yeah this has been crazy but hey we’re doing it now!”
-thanks Oti Alfalfa for his dedication
-she’s like thank god it’s over
-oh she brings up the Watchmaker
-she gives a tribute to Misha/ Mikhal Char Legwork for laying the foundations of Penacony
-thanks him for allowing the Dreamscape to exist, that Penacony’s success is rooted in the Trailblaze that the Watchmaker brought with him and only by honoring that spirit can harmony be spread
-everything is back on track, and Penacony’s family give the Nameless a token of appreciation
-They give the ship to the Astral Express?!!? That’s a fun one, I think Robin pulled some strings for that one to screw over Oti for throwing Sunday under the bus
-she toasts the Harmony, the Trailblaze, the future of Penacony and the universe, and the generous Alfalfa Family Head, Mr. Oti Alfalfa
CUTSCENE TIME
-Oti is amused by Robins cunning
-he’s SPARKLE TIME
-she put a bomb in the ship and we got 10 minutes to find it oh boy
Cutscene over
-she gave us a map at least
-HASTIEST GROUP CHAT IN EXISTENCE TO FIX THIS
-LMAOO
-this is great it’s bomb hunting time
-because the hounds are stupid and gathered everything spending 48 system hours to press all her buttons
-it’s hidden among 999 dolls and the challenge is to find where the real one is hidden
-Robin asks everyone not to panic and that they will prepare for evacuating
-however the Oak Family has relied on the power of the Order for the guarantee that you can’t die in dreams, but since the Order’s blessings are lost, this bomb might actually kill people
-everyone agrees to help
-Aventurine isn’t taking it seriously likely because he isn’t actually there, he’s like “Wanna bet who will survive this?” and Ratio’s like “k” bc he’s done w Aven’s shit and higher priorities
-Black Swan finds 131 fake bombs, area gets evacuated
-Boothill finds 217 of them with the help of the hounds and Ratio wearing his alabaster head, nobodies found it yet but nobody seems too concerned
-Argenti finds 145 bombs but again, duds
-IPC found 329, but again, nothing
-last one is in the cockpit
-Sparkle rickrolls us
-it’s a bomb
-they found the remaining dolls but nothing
-Sparkle gives the coordinates of the last, true bomb, and everyone agrees to gather there
-TB finds Firefly standing by Sparkle’s bomb
-Sweet Dream no longer has the Order’s protection and if it were to blow up there could be bad consequences
-she says the design is unique and as if it’s been locked by some mysterious Path force
-nobody knows how to deactivate it
-Firefly doesn’t think anybody there can fix it
-she says Black Swan might be able to teleport it, but Firefly found a note inside the doll
-a note that’s complete nonsense and says it contains a virus very dangerous to Memetic entities like BS plus a bunch of Bananas for some reason? It’s all very unserious
-Firefly reminds us that she has three “deaths” in the Land of Dreams
-so this is the third time
-we’re like nah ur not dying
-Firefly says she’s not in the dream like normal people, she has a Stellaron Hunters special method (Silver Wolf) that let her to be in here , and it lets Firefly perform feats others can’t
-as long as she can bear the pain of the memoria pressure, she will be able to dive into the primal Memory Zone and extend a lifeline to the Radiant Feldspar
-she’s gonna try and take it into the depths of the Dreamscape (Primordial Memory Zone) so nobody will get hurt
-Firefly tells us not to worry and that SAM will allow her to get back safely if she lucky
-determined to give this story a happy ending
-Firefly reminds us of Acheron’s words, “The so-called impossible is merely something that has yet to happen..”
-the moment that could disprove the “impossibilities” hasn’t arrived yet
-Firefly has so many choices to make before her “death” in whatever form it takes, and she believes that when the moment arrives for us to make a choice, the answer to our end will already be in our hearts
-“it is not destiny that shapes us, but we who shape destiny,”
CUTSCENE
Compare astral express and stellaron hunters like light and shadow and tied together
-OH BOY SO MUCH HAPPENS
-Sparkle detonates the bomb early but it’s actually fireworks
-she then bops us off the edge of the ship but Firefly catches and saves us
-it’s really cute tbh
-she reaffirms what we said, both that destiny is ours to choose and that the reason why life slumbers is because one day we will wake up
-there’s a little procession of scenes of everyone so far
-highlights being Ratio leaving and Boothill pulling out a gun due to Argentis yapping
-and Aven reminiscing in the place where he found himself again
-we also get a little peak at what Acheron is doing
-she put three flowers on the graves of the Nameless, officially saying by to them
Cutscene over
Scene 8; Acheron (although still from TB perspective)
-child wanted to put flowers down for the Nameless? I don’t really understand her first line in this
-oh the child is Mikhail and the flowers are for the other two Nameless, and when he’s  gone someone placed one for him
-she says “your wishes will always be remembered by someone,” likely talking not just to Mikhail, but the audience
-Now Penacony has finally welcomed the dawn after the long dark night, even if the path ahead won’t be easy
-“Tiernan, you can now go home”
-the Nameless are also preparing for our next stop
-we say goodbye to the old Nameless, Gallagher and Acheron
-“in the Land of the Dreams, anything is indeed possible,” - March
-“History may not remember the names of the dead, but the stars will attest to their journeys, the first glimmer of light in the prolonged night often illuminates little, as it is fleeting and the darkness too vast. But because of this, people will remember: As long as something shines in the night sky, then when the first star falls.. countless more will follow, streaking across the horizon.” - Dan Heng, I loved his speech so I had to write it
-they give a toast to the fallen Nameless
-“A toast to history that no longer remains silent, the passionate and courage’s pursuit, and a voyage that traverses the stars,”- Dan Heng ur COOKING
-we can talk to Acheron, and she calls it a fitting end to our story
-we say bye to Gallagher, who we don’t even know if he was a “living person”, callback to the 13 thing, an “enigmatic” character for sure
-at least our journey and his love for Penacony was real
-we toast him too, and using the drink that Siobhan made for him
-“to all lies, and the singular truth,”- March
-she also asks him to not speak in riddles if they ever meet again
-we say bye to Micah, Welt apologizes for only now speaking to him, Welt asks what the people of Dreamflux Reef do now, many will continue to live there, and “those accustomed to being away will mostly have a hard time getting used to a life of darkness with their eyes closed,” Micah will also watch over the primal Memory Zone as the Order has faded
-“Penacony’s nights are long, and there are many who are still far from a good nights sleep,”
-they still manage without the Sweet Dream
-toast to the ppl in Dreamflux Reef and their tenacity
-we finally say goodbye to Mikhail, it started from the moment we met him and it ends by saying goodbye to him
-“just like a clock’s hands that turn round and round, the start and end of each day will always land on twelve o’clock- the advent of time moving forward,” - Himeko, it really is over isn’t it, honestly I wonder now is just what that dream pool and projector were for
-the entire adventure started bc of Mikhail and it’s ending because of him
-“And then, a new page will be turned.”
-“To Penacony’s past, present, future… and the child’s unwavering dream unto death,”- Himeko
—“the Trailblaze can illuminate the way, but ultimately, the future of a world belongs to those who live in it,” - Dan Heng, just like Belabog and the Luofu huh
-March has a strange feeling that she had a few stops ago that’s really strong this time, she talks about how many stories these three Nameless have experienced, and she compares them to the current Nameless and their own adventures, and that they lived the “every day” we do now
-but it’s all in the past, and TB says to her that we should live in the present, but that’s what March can’t get out of her mind
-she’s upset at that the Nameless then didn’t get their happy ending, but the TB now shouldn’t live through them, however since us (especially March) has witnessed their lives, their are special to us now, so she hopes their story gets a good ending when it comes
-but what if those Nameless and us now aren’t special, and we won’t get a good ending?
-if Mikhail might not have had no regrets, how can we know we won’t?
-“Then, what is this regret we feel in our hearts right now…?”
-Himeko assured that all of them are searching for the answer to this question, that against the backdrop of a cosmos, our lives are fleeting
-however, even if the universe doesn’t remember the never ending Trailblaze, but people, and those who travel along the silver rail themselves will
-“As long as we remember, their stories (The Trailblaze) will never end,” OH MY GOD THIS MIRRORS WHAT BS SAID IN THE ONE TRAILER WHERE WE WILL CARRY OUR WISHES TO COUNTLESS STARS AAAA
-Mikhail answered this question himself, dying with a smile on his face even after his complicated life
-its meaning will be interpreted by those who come after us
-it’s not the answer that’s important, but what we can learn from others answers
-“This is what Trailblazing is”
-March tells DH to tell a dad joke to lighten the mood
-he won’t
-it’s never a bad thing to reflect
-we got a long way ahead of us WHOOO
-so it’s time to tell PomPom what we saw
-then prepare for the next stop
-time to say final goodbye to Acheron
-she asks if we remember our first meeting
-we reminded her of an acquaintance
-because of the Self-Annihilators curse, what she thought was a familiar meeting was merely an illusion, attributing her feelings of that old friend to us the TB
-however you can ask if it wasn’t an illusion
-Acheron says it’s improbable we ever met before, and there’s nothing left to retrace but Nihility
-I can keep pushing
-she doubles down, said this me and your memory of her aren’t the same person
Red Text oh my god
-“But some things will never change,”
-she just laughs in response
-oh my god she’s talking about her past companions oh no her Kiana her Bronya noooooo NOOOOOOOOOO
-they didn’t achieve the outcome they wanted, but our sheer stupidity makes it feel like they never even left
-she talks about how things can seem so similar yet so different
-Acheron has wandered alone, encountering “acquaintances” who’s silhouettes overlap with her past
-she asks us what we think her “Deja vu” means
-im going with “the wish to return to the past”
-she says all of our possible answers are incomplete
-it’s something that’s not external, but something that’s within us, an emotion spanning across time from a certain moment in our past to reach us
-every time we reminisce, we notice both the tiny but unforgettable things we leave behind, and the other things that remain constant throughout
-that’s the summary of our lives, the proof of our shared path
-within those small moments, those tiny regrets, we glimpse our own essence, and truly “exist”
-Acheron says to “set forth on your voyage without hesitation, Nameless, on the path of the Trailblaze”
-even if our ending has been predetermined (OOH CALLBACK TO 2.1 and 2.2 AAA) there are countless things humans cannot change
-but before that, there are still many things we can do
SHES WORD FOR WORD REPEATING THINGS
-“And because of this, the “end” will thus reveal a completely different meaning”
-“this is the meaning of ‘journey’”
I AM INSANE ABOUT THIS ACTUALLY AAAAAAAAA
THE CALLBAKCS THE REFERNEFES I WAS RIGHT I WAS RIGHT FUCK ALL OF YOU I LOVR YOU ACHERONNNN
-“all those things, beautiful before, are still do now. And I believe… It will still bloom at the end of the Nihility, until we meet again beneath the sun’s rays,” OH MY GOD SHE HAS HER HORNS AND OLD OUTFIT SHES SO BEAUTIFUL
AND WE ARE GONNA MEET AGAIN AT THE END OF THE STORY AAAAAAAA
Back at the Express
-Pom Pom is crying
-Dan and March bickering
-Pom-Pom started crying over the adventure, March has never seen them so sad before
-now they are angry
-we caused so much chaos and threw the time-table off and if we keep acting like this the Express is gonna run out of fuel
-well not really they are just masking their sadness
-we take a break in the next car while Himeko comforts Pom Pom
-we chat a bit, those three Nameless must have meant a lot to them
-we don’t know shit about Pom Pom’s past lmao, but their emotions haven’t become dulled by the grind of time, and they still value every journey
-we might actually run out of fuel bc due to our existence Pom Pom has had to delay the warp jump schedule
-the express converts every “Trailblaze” into the energy it needs to run, like a perpetual motion machine
-we are using up fuel much faster than expected, and can only pull off two more warp jumps at most
-which means we must consider our next destination carefully
-the two worlds nearest to us are the oceanic planet of Lushaka and the Agate World Melustanin
-we still need to vote
-BLACK SWAN SHOWS UP
-Welts like ‘alright give us the juice’
-she overheard how the express obtains fuel
-her suggestion could be the lifeline that saves everyone
-OH ITS THE DH = DF LINES YESS
-“those mired memories of yours”
-if the express needs a special trailblazing expedition to recharge its engine, then they should go to a world that even Akivili never even reached, and the express will never have to worry about energy again
-March is like “is that possible?!!”
-a world many don’t even know exists, hidden away by outside observation, only revealed by the light from the monitor of the Garden of Recollection
-fettered by three Paths, its destiny hanging in the balance
-“The Eternal Land, Amphoreus”
NO THIS IS CRAZY THIS IS CRAZY BECAUSE THAT IS RATIOS HOMELAND SO HOW DID HE GET OUT FROM THERE, A PLACE NOT EVEN AKAVILI HAS BEEN ?!:!!! AAAAAAAAAAAAA
JADE SCENE?!!
YOOOOO
-she calls Sunday a child
-it seems like he tried to escape and got caught
-he thinks he’s gonna die
-his fate is entirely in Jade’s hands
-he wants the pretenses to be over and to just have time to talk
-she’s glad he’s still a cunt
-she came to fulfill Robin’s wishes, to offer a trade if he’s willing to accept
-she talks about his oath between him and Robin of building a haven where everyone can attain peace
-she asks if he would be willing to speak to her if there was a chance to fulfill that vow
-Jade sets him free, tells him to see the world for himself
-Sunday doesn’t want to accept it though
-however the trade is still up, and Jade is willing the wait for his answer
-she gives him a word of warning
-“Life is too short to miss out on golden opportunities”
And it’s over
Wow that was great
OK! I will definitely not be doing this again because oh my god this made the quest take like 10 hours (most of the time was just typing it tbh 😭) made it far less fun than it could have been, however it also really helped me understand what was going on a lot; and I’ll look back on this if I want to remember the plot in 2.3
Overall I think it’s a really satisfying conclusion for Penacony, and any of the things I thought were weird kinda dissipated because they are minor nitpicks at best, and we did say Penacony would have to figure itself out from here
if you somehow decided to read all of these, I admire your patience lmao, and I hope you enjoyed all of the parts in which I started absolutely losing it
I recommend you don’t do this lmao, it’s more fun to just play through and look at the wiki later imo, maybe take more overarching ones after you have already completed a scene? This was certainly a learning experience at least

Relationship Headcannons with my Favorite Boyyo
Tanjiro
It would take a long ass time for you two to get together
You for sure caught feelings first
You first met while you were training at the Butterfly mansion. You were only one of the assistants at the mansion but desperately wanted to become a more important part of the core.
You had training in secret on your own, afraid that Shinobou found you doing so, she’d reject your request.
This is where Tanjiro found you. As he was recovering at the mansion he would watch you in secret, admiring your grit and progress.
Finally he decided to surprise and compliment you.
Now, Tanjiro popping out from behind a tree seemed like a good idea in his mind- but it was a horrific experience for you
As soon as he popped out, he was punched square in the nose. You soon realized you just punched a demon slayer and began to profusely apologize.
You begged him to forgive you and tell no one in the mansion of what you had been doing. Tanjiro grew confused and you explained the situation.
“I’m sure Miss Shinobou would let you train to become a Slayer!”
“I can’t risk it yet. Until then, I’ll continue training on my own.”
“Please allow me to train with you Miss Y/n!”
From then on, Tanjiro trained with you. Throughout your training together, you developed feelings for the redhead boy, admiring his strength and perseverance. You even got to get close to Nezuko!
Now, Tanjiro started developing feelings as well, but he didn’t exactly understand what they were. As far as he knew, he just admired you. A lot.
He didn’t realize his feelings until the entertainment district.
You were one of the only female core members who actually volunteered to go with Tengen, (despite Tanjiro’s protests).
Throughout the mission itself, you didn’t interact much due to you being bought by the same house as Zenitzu.
His feelings became realized in the final battle between the horrid demon siblings.
“TANJIRO!”
Tanjiro was awoken by the sound of your voice. He was surrounded by the burning remnants of the small town. His head and vision was fuzzy. Nezuko!, he thought. He felt around best he could with his beaten body. He let out a relieved breath as he felt the small and unharmed box that lay next to him.
Wait- y/n! He grew panicked once more when he was unable to see your body in the rubble. Where were you? He hadn’t see you since the explosion. Did you escape before it happened? Were you under the rubble? Had you…
No. You’re far too quick to have been killed by an explosion.
Keep it out of your mind Tanjiro.
“Well, well,” Gyturora laughed as he approached the bleeding boy. “You’re still alive?”
“I feel sorry for you. Everyone but you is probably done for.
A single thrust to that boar’s heart. That towheaded boy’s trapped under the rubble, and he’s flailing, so I’m just going to leave him there until he dies. Squirming like an insect… How disgraceful is that!
And how weak was that Hashira! All he had was bluster! The poison got to him, stopping his heart, and now he’s dead! It’s all over for him!
So disgraceful! So disgraceful! You four are truly disgraceful! Especially you! You’re in another league!”
The demon looked at the small box.
“The one sticking out of that box you carry is a relative, right? I can tell that she’s closely related to you even if she’s a demon now. Is she your older or younger sister?”
Tanjiro feels a tinge of anger at the teasing.
“Nezuko, is my younger sister,” he panted out.
The demon cackled. “Just as I thought! You really are a disgrace! You’re not protecting your little sister at all!” He kneeled down in front of Tanjiro. “Well, I guess it can’t be helped. Since you’re a human and your sister’s a demon.
Of course you’re weaker than your demon sister. Even so, what a disgrace!
If youre her big bro…”
He grabbed Tanjiro’s hand. “…instead of being protected by your little sister, you should be protecting her. Devotedly. With this hand, see?”
Gyturora snapped Tanjiro’s pointer and middle finger with ease.
Tanjiro let out a grunt of pain, making the demon cackle with malicious enjoyment.
“Stop it!”
Both froze at the sound.
No, not now. God, Y/n. Please.
Tanjiro watched as you stumbled forward. Your side was bleeding, and a bits and pieces of wood were stuck in your face.
“Stop saying those things!” You coughed, splatters of blood falling from your lips. “How dare you say some things about him when you know nothing! Tanjiro is a wonderful brother! He’d do anything for Nezuko!”
Tanjiro stared at you as you spoke. He felt his heart grow full despite his pain.
“Keep your tongue behind your lips and stop talking about him in such a way, you disgrace of a demon!”
The demon in question began to laugh, scratching at his face.
“The Hashira isn’t the only one with beautiful lovers, is he?” He growled as blood dripped from his face. “Lucky, lucky guy.”
“Ugh, brother just let me kill her,” Daki whined, rolling her eyes from her place on one of the piles of rubble. “And kill him.”
“You’re head will drop from your body before you touch him!” you yelled, your eyes burning in a way Tanjiro had never seen before. “I won’t let you-“ You were cut off by Gyturora’s sickle burying itself into your stomach.
“Y/N!” Tanjiro yelled as you let out a gasp and collapsed to the ground.
After the fight- you woke back in the butterfly mansion, with Tanjiro and Nezuko by your side.
As soon as they noticed you had awoken, Nezuko started crying and gave you a big hug.
Tanjiro just smiled at you with tears in his eyes. You looked at him.
Then the rest was history
Now don’t get it wrong, it still took years for both of you to confess.
He did so first, after he came back from an especially difficult mission. As soon as he returned, he was greeted with a warm hug from yourself.
He returned it, burying his face in your neck and taking in your scent. He held you tightly, afraid to let go.
“I love you.”
That was all you needed. You of course returned his love.
Dating Tanjiro is bliss
He dates with the intention of marriage. Ever since he realized how much he loves you, he’s been fantasizing of marrying you and starting a family of his own.
You don’t mind though, he is pure husband material.
He will cook for you and constantly is bringing you little gifts. He is usually pretty good with impulse control but if he sees something that reminds him of you, he will buy it.
There is never a day that goes by where he doesn’t remind you that he loves you and why. You often start your morning with him staring at you as if he’s falling in love all over again.
I’m bed- he’s always very gentle. He does believe that sex should happen within the confines of marriage and so he insists on waiting until then.
He always wants to focus on your body’s needs above his own. Your pleasure comes first
He’s also very quiet in bed, he’ll groan and grunt occasionally but the most noise he usually makes is praise for you
Marry him.

Second chapter, the “apology”
Pairing: Melissa Schemmenti x y/n
Summary: after the pepper spray incident Melissa and y/n start to become more friendly. But it was all a lie in a couple of hours. Melissa felt like Y/n was hiding something so she is planning to find out, while Y/n was hiding something pretty big. And did you really expect Melissa to say sorry that easily?
Warnings: after effects of pepper spray, cussing, meaner then usual Melissa, flirting, Lying, maybe Kristin Marie x y/n for the first couple of chapters (I don’t know about that one yet-)
Italian sayings in English:
Dannatamente: goddamn
Topolino: little mouse
Stronza: you bitch
Pezzo di merda: piece of shit
Monello: brat
Per favore perdonami: please forgive me
Tumblr media
Recap:
Melissa searched the school for Y/n, eventually finding her sitting in the classroom. Rolling her eyes, Melissa walked over quietly, not wanting to make a scene. Without thinking, she placed a hand on Y/n’s shoulder.
Y/n jumped with a startled scream and instinctively sprayed pepper spray directly into Melissa’s face.
Melissa let out a pained yell, clutching at her eyes. “I know I pissed you off, but what the hell is wrong with you?! Why would you do that?!”
Y/n froze, horrified by her own reaction. “Oh my god, I’m so sorry!”
Melissa, still blinded and livid, groaned through gritted teeth. “Cazzo di pezzo di merda!”
Tumblr media
Back to the present:
Melissa groaned in pain, clutching her face. “I’m so sorry!” Y/N blurted, feeling absolutely horrible. “You really shouldn’t sneak up on people like that!” Y/n whispered nervously.
Melissa grunted, slamming her hand against a nearby desk. “WHY THE FUCK DO YOU HAVE PEPPER SPRAY AT SCHOOL?!”
Y/N rolled her eyes. “For protection! What kind of woman doesn’t carry something to defend herself? You’re lucky I didn’t use my pocket knife!”
Melissa’s eyes widened, despite the redness surrounding them. “You have a fucking pocket knife?!”
Y/N winced. “Uh… no? Forget I said that. And you can’t exactly talk! You’ve got a bat hidden behind your desk!”
Melissa looked genuinely surprised, her expression still evident despite the irritation around her eyes. “How did you—”
“I’m not stupid,” Y/N interrupted. “I always check out the classrooms I work in. So why do you have a bat, huh? Planning to murder someone?”
Melissa groaned again, still wiping at her face. “Why would I be a murderer? I’m a second-grade teacher, for fuck’s sake!” She muttered under her breath, “Dannatamente, this hurts!”
Y/N scoffed, ignoring what Melissa just said, she didn’t quite catch what she said anyway. “I don’t know… maybe you’re some psycho who gets off on hurting kids!”
Melissa didn’t dignify that with a response, instead gritting her teeth and blinking rapidly, though it was clear the pain wasn’t subsiding. Guilt immediately crept back into Y/N’s chest.
“Sorry…” she murmured.
Melissa sighed and sat on the edge of the desk. “It’s fine, kid. You’re right—it’s my fault for sneaking up on you.” There was a trace of something in her voice, maybe pride, but Y/N dismissed it. There was no way Melissa was proud of getting pepper-sprayed.
Digging into her bag, Y/N pulled out a makeup wipe. She hesitated, unsure if it would help, but decided to try anyway. Walking over to Melissa, she gently cupped her face.
“This might burn… or maybe not,” she said cautiously, pressing the wipe to Melissa’s skin. Melissa winced but tried to hide it, earning a raised eyebrow from Y/N.
“You don’t have to act all tough, you know,” Y/N teased.
Melissa scoffed and rolled her eyes. “What are you talking about, Topolino?”
Y/N blinked. “What does that mean?” she asked, momentarily distracted. Melissa didn’t answer, and Y/N filed it away to ask about later. A mischievous grin tugged at her lips, one that looked suspiciously like a child about to pull a prank.
Without warning, Y/N pressed the wipe harder against Melissa’s eye.
“OW! What the hell?!” Melissa yelped, glaring at her through blurry eyes.
Y/N smirked. “Oops,” she replied innocently, glancing away.
“Stronza,” Melissa muttered under her breath, her irritation palpable.
Y/N stifled a laugh, making a mental note to ask about that word later, too.
After “fixing” Melissa’s eyesight, the tension between them eased, and they actually started talking instead of constantly bickering.
“Sorry again for… you know, pepper spraying you,” Y/n said, glancing up at Melissa with wide, doe-like eyes. “Are your eyes feeling better?”
Melissa quickly averted her gaze, a slight flush creeping up her cheeks. “Yes, I’m fine now,” she replied with a sigh before standing up. She extended a hand toward Y/n, who looked at her in confusion.
Rolling her eyes at Y/n’s puzzled expression, Melissa grabbed her wrist and pulled her up from the desk. “I guess I’m sorry for being a total bitch to you today, kid… I won’t do it again,” she muttered, her tone begrudging.
Y/n raised an eyebrow, clearly unconvinced. “You’re totally going to do it again,” she said with a shrug, pulling her wrist free from Melissa’s grasp. A mischievous smile spread across her face as she bumped Melissa lightly with her hip. “But it’s fine—I got my payback.”
She started to walk away but paused at the door, glancing back over her shoulder. “Oh, and next time you scream at me or call me names, I’m definitely using my pocketknife on you.”
Before Melissa could respond, Y/n added, “I’ll grab the ‘little eagles’ from music class. See you then!” She winked and blew Melissa a playful kiss before disappearing into the hallway.
Melissa stood there, momentarily stunned, before letting out a huff and heading back to her desk, unsure how to process what had just happened.
Tumblr media
At the end of the school day, Y/n was packing up her things, ready to leave. Meanwhile, Melissa stood by, arms crossed, glaring at her while muttering under her breath about how slow Y/n was being.
Y/n sighed and looked up, clearly exasperated. “I thought we were past this stage.”
Melissa scoffed, her frown deepening. “I’m just saying, you’re taking too long!” she snapped, leaning against the doorframe impatiently.
Rolling her eyes, Y/n groaned in annoyance and, with deliberate slowness, began packing even slower.
“Hey! What the hell do you think you’re doing, you pezzo di merda!?” Melissa barked, her frustration boiling over.
Y/n glanced up again, her lips curling into an innocent smirk. “What do you mean?~”
Melissa’s glare sharpened. “I mean, you’re dragging this out on purpose now!”
The smirk grew wider. “Well, no one’s forcing you to wait for me~” Y/n teased.
Melissa fell silent, glaring daggers for a moment before letting out a frustrated scoff and storming out of the room.
Y/n couldn’t help but laugh at her reaction, the sound echoing down the hall. Melissa, already out of sight, let out another annoyed grumble.
Tumblr media
With Melissa and Barbara:
Melissa was venting to Barbara about Y/n, her voice rising with frustration. “Barb, she is so annoying! I’m trying to keep my composure, but she just keeps getting under my skin… she’s worse than Kristin!”
Barbara let out a sigh, gently patting Melissa’s back. “Dear, maybe you don’t like her because she’s challenging the structure you’ve built. I know how much it bothers you when people don’t follow your rules.”
Melissa pushed open the door and stepped outside, the sharp cold air biting at her skin. She shivered slightly as she pulled her car keys from her pocket. “I don’t think that’s it… she just doesn’t feel right to me,” she muttered. “That monello gives me weird vibes.”
Barbara sighed again, a weariness settling over her. She hadn’t sighed this much in years. “Why do you feel that way, dear? Didn’t you say the two of you made up in some way?”
Melissa puffed up her chest, swinging her keys around her finger. “I just made her think we made up so she wouldn’t know I’m still onto her trail!”
“Trail? Melissa, dear, please…” Barbara’s tone was laced with concern. She could already sense trouble brewing.
“I’m telling you, Barb, that girl is bad news. I can feel it in my bones!” Melissa insisted.
Barbara shook her head as she walked to her car and unlocked it. “You know what I feel?”
Melissa groaned, already knowing what was coming. “Not again…”
“I feel God,” Barbara declared, placing a hand on her cross necklace. “And you need to talk to Him because you’re heading down a dangerous path.”
Melissa scrunched her nose in irritation as she unlocked her own car. “Well, He won’t be able to stop me this time because I know I’m right!” She made a quick cross over her chest and kissed her fingers, looking to the sky. “Per favore perdonami.”
Barbara shook her head as she slid into her driver’s seat. “I need to get home to Gerald before I lose my mind.”
As she pulled out of her parking spot, Melissa shouted after her, “I’ll prove it to you! That girl has something to hide!”
Barbara didn’t respond, only muttering to herself, “Lord, give me strength…”
Tumblr media
Y/n stepped into her house, kicking off her shoes and hanging up her coat. Just as she was settling in, her phone began to ring. Pulling it from her pocket, a sly smirk spread across her face as she answered.
Pressing the phone between her ear and shoulder, she walked to the kitchen. “I didn’t expect you to call so late. Did you miss me already?~” she teased with a giggle, reaching for a bottle of wine.
As the woman on the other end began to speak, Y/n chuckled, pouring herself a glass. “Yes, yes, I know~” she replied, lifting the glass and heading into the living room. She stopped in front of a mirror perched on a desk surrounded by plants, admiring her reflection as she took a sip of the red wine.
“It all went perfectly,” Y/n said, a note of satisfaction in her voice. “Melissa’s starting to trust me a little more, so the big hurdle is finally out of the way~” She smirked at her reflection, listening intently to the woman’s response on the other end.
After a moment, she adjusted her hair with a soft giggle. “Don’t worry, I’ll get all the information we need and bring it back. It won’t take long. Once I have everything, we’ll make your school better,” she said confidently before downing the rest of her wine in one smooth motion.
With a small hum of acknowledgment, Y/n added, “Well, I’ll call you later, cutie!~” A playful pout formed on her lips as the woman clearly protested. “Fine, fine, I’ll stop calling you that, Kristin.”
She hung up with a huff, tossing the phone onto the couch. “She’s such a party pooper,” Y/n muttered to herself before heading off to her room, a satisfied smirk still lingering on her face.
Hopefully this was a good plot twist 😂. I’m also wondering of doing Kristin Marie x y/n type of thing for the plot but I don’t know if that’s good. So give me your thoughts on that please! Also if you guys want me to tag you then I’ll learn how to do that and do it!

CRASH! SNAP! CRACK! Panic rages through your body as you stare at your mom’s old cassette player that is now in pieces.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
“And why exactly have you decided to take a trip down memory lane?” you asked your mom. Letting out a heave as you set the heavy box down on your mom’s bed.
“I watched Jetsons: The Movie yesterday and it got me feeling nostalgic,” your mom answers you, taking off the lid to the box. “My old cassette player!” your mom called out excitedly as she pulled the old device from the box. “I used to use this all the time,” she tells you.
“I can tell. You used it so much it cracked.” You pointed to the crack that ran across the lid to insert a cassette.
“I don’t remember it having a crack actually.” Your mom scratched her head trying to remember if she was forgetting how the player got the crack.
“Maybe it happened while it was stored. We’re not always gentle with these boxes,” you chuckled.
“You’re right that could be what happened. We should be more gentle with these,” she states gesturing to the boxes.
“I wonder if it still works?” you wondered, taking the cassette player from your mom.
“It would definitely need batteries,” she says tapping the battery compartment. “We don’t have the type of batteries it takes right now. I’ll pick some up when I go to the store.”
“You still remember what batteries it takes?” You raised one of your eyebrows in shock. Your mom laughs.
“I told you I used to use it all the time. I’ll probably never forget what batteries it takes. I bet I could still use this in my sleep,” she affirms.
“I might have to test you on that,” you said playfully. Your mom smiles and shakes her head, looking into the box again. You join her in looking at the contents of the box. “Is this your year book?” you questioned pulling the book from the box.
“Yeah it’s from my junior year? I think.” You open the book, flipping through its pages. You stopped flipping through the pages when a picture of your mom with some guy caught your attention. Your mom had her arms affectionately wrapped around the guy’s middle. Her head tilted in the direction of the guy too.
“And who is this? One of your old boyfriends?” You nudge your mom with your elbow, showing her the picture.
“Oh um I think his name started with a G. I can’t remember right now, but no he wasn’t my boyfriend, not even a friend really. He was more like a nice acquaintance,” she informs.
“So this picture is just for show?” you said.
“Pretty much. That was the first day we met actually,” she tells you. You look at her with your head tilting to the side, as if asking her to explain more.
“He came up behind me and gave me a really tight back hug. I pushed him away harshly because I didn’t know who he was. Then he began to profusely apologize explaining that he mistook me for someone else,” your mom tells you the story.
“Oh my gosh that’s embarrassing. I would have died if I was him,” you laughed.
“Yeah I felt bad for him. Anyway people for the yearbook were coming around, so I pulled him into this side hug to make us even,” she further explained.
“How kind of you,” you remarked half sarcastically. To which your mom playfully shrugged in response. “Did he ever say who he mistook you for?” you questioned.
“You’re so nosy and no I never asked,” she tells you.
“Oh.” you look back down at the picture, wondering who this guy could have mistook your mom for.
After taking the little trip down memory lane you and your mom put the aged objects back inside the boxes, leaving out the cassette player since your mom was going to pick up batteries for it. Then you returned the boxes back to their places in the top shelf of the closet. Proceeding you returned to your bedroom to carry on with your day. You hopped onto your bed, opening your laptop to look for a show to watch.
Later in the day your mom returned home from running some errands: buying groceries and batteries. You helped your mom put the groceries away. Once all the groceries were placed in their spots your mom excitedly ran to her bedroom to grab her old cassette player.
“You’re like an excited kid who’s ready to play with their new toy,” you remark. “Well, I guess it’s an old toy in this case,” you added.
“I am excited,” she states matter-of-factly, opening up the batteries she recently bought. She then opens the battery compartment of the cassette player and carefully places the batteries inside, making sure they're facing the right direction.  Succeeding hearing the satisfying click of the battery compartment closing your mom eagerly places one of the headphones into her ear then holds out the other one for you. You take it from her hand and place it into your ear. She looks at you to make sure you’re ready with her finger hovering over the play button. You nodded at her in confirmation and with that your mom pressed the button. Music began to play from the head phones filling the two of your ears. Your mom begins to excitedly jump up and down at her favorite nostalgic item still working. A smile makes its way to your face as you watch your mom’s happiness. While feeling impressed that the old device still works.
“This brings back memories,” your mom says reminiscently as she listens to the song.
“This song is nice,” you comment.
“You like it?” your mom asked. You nodded your head.
“You should keep this for a while then,” she suggested.
“Huh? Why?” Your eyebrows raised in confusion.
“It made me really happy as a teen. I would like to make you happy too. You’re a bit older than I was when I first got it, but that’s ok,” she explains.
“Ok sure, why not?” you agreed.
“Ooh I’ll go grab my other cassette so you can listen to them,” she takes the headphone from her ear before scurrying off to go grab the cassette. When she returns with the cassettes in hand she hands them over with a smile. You didn’t really know how much you would use the cassette player, but you figured you could at least listen to each cassette once. See what kind of music your mom used to listen to. You hit the stop of the cassette player and took off your headphone. You wrapped the headphones around the player as you walked to your room. You set the player on your bedside dresser planning to listen to it later.
Later in the evening you helped your mom make dinner. While waiting for your dad to get back from work. Your dad got home while you were dishing up dinner.
“Perfect timing,” your mom said, greeting him. You all sat at the table together. “I gave y/n my old cassette player today,” your mom tells.
“Oh really? That thing still works?” your dad asked surprised.
“Just like it used to,” your mom says.
“Except for the crack across the front,” you said.
“I told you I don’t remember it having a crack. It’s a mystery how it got there,” she states.
“Guess we’ll never know,” your dad shrugged. You all continued to eat, having the occasional side conversation. After dinner you did the dishes then headed to your room. You sat down on your bed. Your eyes fell over to your mom’s old cassette player. You reached over to your dresser and grabbed it, unwrapping the headphones around it. You put one headphone in each ear and hit play on the cassette. Music filled your ears and you rested against your headboard becoming fully immersed in the music. A couple songs played then you came across a song that you really liked. You wanted to listen to it again so you hit the rewind button, but nothing happened. You hit it again and once more nothing happened. You tried again only to be met with the same result. Growing a bit frustrated you smack the cassette player in hopes of getting it to work. You hit the rewind button another time and this time you hear the song begin to reverse. However your room began to look blurry. Like when you pass by something really fast. Then suddenly it all stopped and you were standing in a park? There were some kids running around playing on some playground equipment. Parents sitting on benches. A couple teenage boys were kicking a ball around out in the open grass. You walked around the park stopping under the shade of a tree, trying to gather your senses. Did you fall asleep while you were listening to the cassette? That’s when you notice that the cassette is in your hand and headphones are still in your ears. Much to your surprise the cassette player had been fixed. There was no longer a crack running across it. How was that possible? Was this all just a dream? Right then a ball lands by your feet.
“Sorry, could you kick it back please?” you hear. You looked up to see one of the teenage boys. You looked back down at the ball then back at the boy. You gave the ball a swift kick sending it back over. “Thanks!” the boy shouted. You nodded in response. Quickly you went back to trying to figure out what was going on. This didn’t really feel like it was a dream, but what else could it be? You look around at your surroundings again. This time you notice that all the clothes people are wearing look like they're from the 90s. Certainly this was all a really weird dream. You began to leave the park not really knowing where you were going. Just trying to find some answers. Hopefully some confirmation that this was all indeed one weird dream. As you were walking you happened to come across a discarded newspaper. You pick it up and flip it around. Your eyes widened as they saw the date: June 3, 1990. You couldn’t really be back in the 90s could you? No, that would be crazy and impossible. There was absolutely no way. Your heart began to pound in fear. If you were really back in the 1990, what were you supposed to do? How did you get here? More importantly, how were you going to get home? You started to rack your brain. That’s when it hit you, the cassette player. You were trying to get the rewind button to work when you were suddenly transported here. You quickly brought up the cassette player. If rewind brought you back to the past  then fast forward should send you to the future as in back home. You couldn't hit the play and fast forward button soon enough. However much to your dismay it didn’t work. Well technically it did work. The song you were listening to began to speed up and fast forward, but you didn’t go anywhere. You weren’t back in your room. You were still standing about a block away from the park. You felt like crying, sinking down into the concrete pavement.
“Oh hey it’s you again,” you heard a familiar voice. You look up to see the teenage boy from the park again.
“Hey,” you replied.
“Why are you just sitting here?” he asked. Oh you know just having a crisis. No big deal.
“Just…thinking.” is the word you decide to go with.
“Shouldn’t you be headed home? It will be dark soon.” You didn’t even notice the setting sun.
“Oh um…” If you could you would and really wish that you could.
“Are you new around here? I don’t think I’ve seen you before?” he questioned.
“Yeah I just got here,” you tell him. The boy has no clue how literal your statement is.
“Are you lost then? I can walk you home if you want? Just tell me your address,” he offered.
“No, that’s ok.” I don’t have a home to go to.
“Did you run away from home?” he gasped.
“What? No! I didn't, it's not like-” you sighed. “You wouldn’t believe me even if I told you,” you say.
“Try me?” he challenged.
“Fine. I time traveled from the future,” you told him seriously. The boy looked at you for a few seconds before bursting out into laughter.
“Oh, that’s a good one. Seriously, did you get in a fight with your parents or something?” He takes a seat beside you on the pavement.
“Told you wouldn’t believe me,” you said. “Just go home, don’t worry about me.” Sensing your upsetness he decides to give you the upper hand.
“Ok, let’s say I believe you. How did you get here and from where,when?” he questions.
“I’m from 2024. My mom’s old cassette player somehow brought me back in time. I know that sounds crazy because it is, but it’s true,” you explained.
“This cassette player?” He points to the cassette player in your hand.
“Yeah.” You held it up a bit.
“Can I see it?” He held his hands out.
“Knock yourself out.” You handed the player over to him. At first he only glances over it, yet he begins to squint at the clear plastic lid of the cassette player. He proceeded to hit the open button on the lid. “What are you-”
“1993.” you hear him murmur.
“What?” you asked.
“1993,” he repeated.
“What about it?”
“It’s 1990,” he reminded you. That’s when it clicked.
“It’s 1990 and this cassette is from 1993!” you said excitedly. “You believe me now right?” you questioned hopefully.
“Well it’s not, what did you say 2024?” You nodded. “But it is evidence that you are from the future, so…yeah I believe you,” he tells you.
“Oh thank you!” you tell him.
“So what are you gonna do?” he questioned handing you the cassette player back. Your excitement faded away as quickly as it came.
“I don’t know. I just wanna go home,” you answered. The boy looks at you sympathetically. He has no idea how you must feel right now, but it’s clear that you're very stressed about your situation.
“How about you come stay with me. I could help you figure out how to get home,” he suggested.
“Thanks, but would your parents be ok with you bringing some random girl home?” you ask.
“I’ll tell them that you’re a friend who needs a place to stay for a while,” he tells you.
“What if they ask about my parents? I mean they…haven’t even met yet. They’re both teenagers right now.” The gravity of your situation hits you even more.
“We can figure that out later. Sitting on a sidewalk isn’t going to solve anything though, so will you come?” he questioned. You thought for a moment. It’s not like you had a better option.
“You’re sure it’s ok for me to stay with you?” you double checked.
“Absolutely we have a guest room that you can stay in,” he tells you.
“Ok thanks uh… you’re?” Something hits you while you’re looking at the guy, whom you didn’t know the name of. He looked just like the guy from the yearbook photo with your mom. “Something with a G” you mouthed recalling your mom’s words.
“Oh that’s right we kinda skipped over introductions. I’m Gunil,” he introduced himself, sticking out his hand.
“Gunil, with a G,” you didn’t mean to say it outloud.
“Yep with a G. I don’t think it would quite work with a J,” he joked lightheartedly.
“I’m y/n,” you introduced yourself and finally shook his outstretched hand. That had been waiting an awkwardly long time.
“Let’s go y/n.” He stands up from the pavement, dusting off his pants. Then he sticks out his hand to help you up. You take his hand standing up. You still had no clue how you were going to get home, but at least you had someone who was willing to help.
The walk to Gunil’s house didn’t take too long. He lived relatively close to the park.
“This is it,” Gunil announced when you reached the bottom of his driveway. You felt your nerves begin to bubble up again.
“Are you sure this is ok? I can figure something else out,” you say feeling uneasy.
“Like what? Sleeping on a park bench? I assure you it's fine. Now come on.” Gunil starts to walk up his driveway. You follow behind him, nervously fiddling with your hands. “Mom I’m back and-”
“You have a guest,” his mom finished his sentence. After seeing you standing behind him in the doorway.
“This is my friend y/n and they need a place to stay for a bit,” Gunil said sheepishly.
“Oh, of course you friends are always welcome here, you know that,” his mom smiled.
“Thank you,” you thanked her.
“Sure thing sweetie, but Gunil, is there any reason why we haven’t met her before?” his mom asks.
“Have you been hiding her from us?” His dad now joined the conversation with a teasing tone.
“What? No I haven’t it-” Gunil began to sputter, feeling flustered by his dad’s teasing.
“It’s because I only moved here recently,” you saved.
“Oh I see. I hope you like it here, but if you’re going to stay with us why don’t you have a bag? Certainly you need more than just a cassette player.” Gunil’s mom looked around for your belongings.
“I wanted to get permission first. I can go pack my stuff tomorrow,” you told her. You felt your heart pounding.
“That’s right. I tried to tell her that you would understand, but she didn’t want to intrude,” Gunil backed you up.
“You’re just a sweet little thing aren’t you? Come on, dinner is ready. I’m sure you both are hungry.” She guides both you and Gunil to the kitchen table. You felt awkward as you sat next to Gunil at the table.
“So y/n where did you move from?” Gunil’s dad questioned you, trying to create some small talk.
You swear you could feel Gunil tense up beside you.
“Michigan.” Why was that the first place that popped into your head?
“Did you like it there?” he followed up.
“The lakes were really pretty,” you said the one thing you knew about Michigan.
“Oh yes! I’ve seen pictures of Lake Michigan I would love to see it in person one day,” Gunil’s mom chimed in.
“Dinner is really good Mrs. Goo. Thank you,” you state, trying to change the topic.
“I’m already letting you stay here. There is no need to butter me up.”
“I’m not,” you pronounced, shaking your head.
“I like her,” Gunil’s mom says and shoots Gunil a look. To which Gunil quickly shakes his head at his mother. A silent plea to ask her to stop. His mother laughs lightly at him. Thankfully you aren’t asked anymore questions throughout the rest of dinner.
After dinner Gunil showed you the guest room. His mom came into the room holding some pajamas.
“They might not fit perfectly, but they should be ok for the night.” She smiled at you as she handed them over.
“Oh, thank you. You didn’t have to,” you said, taking them from her.
“Don’t be silly. You’re our guest. You should be comfortable,” she insisted.
“Well thanks again,” you say. Gunil’s mom then steps out of the room, leaving just you and Gunil.
“My room is right next door”– Gunil pointed towards his room– “And the bathroom is right across the hall. Let me know if you need anything,” he told you.
“Mmh, thank you” you nod your head.
“No problem.” Gunil turned around and left the room. You looked at the cassette player sitting on the bed. You walked over to the bed, setting down the pajamas that were in your hand to pick up the cassette player.
“Can’t you just take me home?” you said to the old or you guess it’s not so old right now cassette player. “Please,” you begged, placing a headphone in your ear. You placed in the other one and hit play. Music filled your ears. You pressed the fast forward button, the song played faster. You sighed. Your finger now hovers over the rewind button. What if you hit it and it sends you even farther back in the past? However, on the other hand, what if it sent you home? You took a breath, closed your eyes and hit the rewind button. The song began to rewind. You carefully popped one eye open. Nothing happened, you were still in the guest room. Feeling defeated, you pulled the headphones out of your ears. You changed into the pajamas Gunil’s mom had given you. She was right they weren’t a perfect fit, but they would do.
Later in the night Gunil’s mom stopped by your door to wish you goodnight. Before you could respond to her you hear Gunil yelling you a goodnight as well through the thin walls. You yelled him a goodnight back which made his mom laugh. Then you wished her a goodnight as well. You made yourself comfortable underneath the covers. Closing your eyes and waiting for sleep to take you away and hopefully back home somehow.
Upon waking up in the morning it takes you a second to remember where you are. Once you see your mom’s cassette player sitting on the edge of the bed you remember. You were still stuck in 1990. You sat up on the bed not quite knowing what to do. It would be awkward if you just walked out of the room as you are right now right? What if Gunil wasn’t up yet then you would be stuck with his parents. That didn’t seem all that ideal. Your bladder apparently had an answer for you though. The bathroom was right across the hall from you. You would just have to do a quick in and out. You opted for getting dressed first, changing back into the clothes you were wearing yesterday. You carefully opened the door as silently as possible, peeking your head out. When you didn’t see anyone you quickly beelined into the bathroom. You were ready to beeline back to your room however right when you opened the bathroom door someone called you.
“Oh y/n you’re up. How’d you sleep?” Gunil’s mom asked you. You awkwardly stepped into the hallway.
“I slept good, thanks. You?” you returned.
“I slept good too. Gunil is still sleeping, but I can wake him up if you want,” she offered.
“That’s ok he can keep sleeping,” you told her. You kinda regretted it though. Maybe it would be better to just wake him up.
“You can come out to the living room. I’m almost done making breakfast,” she tells you. You awkwardly followed her out to the living room. Where you now see Gunil’s dad sitting in the chair. He bid you a good morning as you did to him in return. You tentatively took a seat on the couch.
“Y/n you never told us why you’re staying with us,” he dad said. You feel your heartbeat pick up as you took a moment to think.
“...Oh my parents are out of town and I don’t feel comfortable staying in our new house by myself yet,” you explained.
“What’d they go out of town for?” He was probably just trying to make conversation, but you really wish he wasn’t.
“Work.” That sounded reasonable enough, you thought.
“What do they do for work?” It was too early for your brain to make up these fake answers.
“They work for a cassette manufacturer.” Gunil answered for you emerging from the hallway. He came and took a seat next to you on the couch. He was still wearing his pajamas and his hair was a bit messy. He looked oddly cute.
“Gunil you’re up just in time. Breakfast is ready,” his mom informed, coming into the living room.
You guys all headed to the kitchen, sitting down and eating the breakfast that Gunil’s mom had made.
“Thanks for breakfast mom. I’m gonna go change then I’ll take y/n to go pack her things,” Gunil stated. Just like that Gunil whisked away to his room. You returned to the guest room to grab the cassette player. You had barely grabbed the cassette player when Gunil appeared in the doorway.
“You ready?” he checked.
“That was fast,” you remarked, taking in his tidied up appearance. His hair was no longer messy and he swapped his pajamas for a black t-shirt and jeans.
“I didn’t want you to wait,” he told you.
“Thanks, and yeah I’m ready,” you answered him. The two of you walked out of Gunil’s house. “Gunil how are we gonna pack my things when I have no things to pack?” you questioned once you two reached the end of his driveway. Gunil reached into his pocket and pulled out his wallet.
“We have some shopping to do.” He waved his wallet around.
“Gunil no,” you say, footsteps coming to a stop. Gunil lets out a sigh. His footsteps coming to a stop as well.
“Do you have a better idea? You can’t exactly wear the same clothes everyday,” he pointed out.
“I know that, but I feel bad having you spend money on me,” you explained. Gunil takes a couple steps closer to you.
“Don’t feel bad. I want to. I’ve been wanting to go shopping anyway, so this is the perfect opportunity,” he tells you.
“Still, won’t it be too much-”
“Shush, your only concern should be figuring out how to get back home. Let me take care of the rest,” he silenced you. He swings one of his arms around your shoulder prompting you to start walking again. When you try to refute again he simply shushes you more.
“Can I ask where we’re going then?” you questioned. You turned your head to look at Gunil, who still had his arm wrapped around your shoulder.
“The mall. It’ll have everything we need,” Gunil answered casually.
“I haven’t been to the mall in ages,” you say.
“Really? Are malls not that popular in the future?” Gunil asked with slightly widened eyes.
“I don’t think they're as popular as they used to be, but plenty of people still go to them,” you answered. Gunil nods at your answer. “How far is the mall?” you asked.
“About a twenty minute walk,” Gunil answered.
“Wanna listen to music?” You held up the cassette player.
“Are you sure it won’t send us to the past?” Gunil jokes. You scoffed.
“Honestly no I can’t be sure, but it should be fine,” you say.
“I’ll risk it.” Gunil reaches to take one of the headphones and puts it in his ear. You put the other one in your ear. You hit play on the cassette player, letting the music fill either of yours and Gunil’s ears. To any onlookers you and Gunil probably look like a couple. With Gunil’s arm that he is yet to remove from around your shoulders and now sharing headphones on top of it. You felt oddly comfortable though. This is probably the most relaxed you felt since you had arrived in 1990.
Upon arriving at the mall both you and Gunil remove the headphones from your ears. Gunil’s arm finally leaves your shoulders. It’s not until he removed his arm that you realized it was there the entire time. Gunil finds that his arm now feels empty that it’s not wrapped around you.
“Where to first?” you questioned as the two of you walked inside the entrance of the mall.
“I was thinking we should probably get you a bag first, then we can go get you some clothes,” he tells you.
“Sounds good,” you agreed. Gunil led you to a shop that had a collection of bags that you could choose from. You ended up picking a blue duffle bag that had teal carrying straps. Next, Gunil takes you to a clothing store. He asked you about your preferences for what types of clothes you like to wear then proceeded to help you pick out some outfits.
“How about this one?” Gunil asked, holding up a shirt in a color you specifically told him you disliked. You make a very unimpressed face at him.
“Gunil, I specifically told you I don’t like that color,” you told him.
“Why? I think it suits you. You look pretty.” He steps closer to you, holding the shirt up to your frame. You feel a warmth trying to make its way to your cheeks. You shook it off.
“Gunil, no.” You pushed the shirt away from your frame.
“Come on please. I’m buying anyway,” he pointed. He kinda had you there. He was paying for all your things, so you felt like the least you could do is get something that he liked. Even if it wasn’t something you would pick for yourself.
“Fine, but don’t keep using that against me.” You pointed a finger at him. Gunil raised his hands in a playful surrender.
“Ok, I won’t,” he said, happily tossing the shirt with the other clothes you were getting.
Three shops later you convinced Gunil that you really didn’t need anymore stuff. He seemed reluctant, but agreed with you. He insisted that you two get some food before you head back to his place though. You couldn’t deny that all the shopping didn’t work up your appetite, so you and Gunil made your way over to the food court. The two of you got food from a place that Gunil recommended. After getting your food you walked over to the seating area.
“So how are you liking the 90s mall experience?” Gunil questioned making you laugh.
“I mean, I don't think it's that different from a modern day mall, but it’s nice,” you say.
“Yo Gunil! You didn’t tell us you were coming here today. Oh who’s this?” One of, who are assuming, is Gunil’s friends asked.
“This is y/n. They’re new around here,” Gunil introduced.
“She looks kinda familiar,” one of the notes.
“I was thinking the same thing,” another one says.
“The park!” One exclaimed pointing at you. “She’s the one who kicked the ball back to us.”
“Oh, that’s right.”
“You mean they’re the one-”
“What are you guys doing here?” Gunil cut his friend off.
“We were gonna see if they have any new music at the music shop,” One answered.
“Well then don’t let us stop you guys,” Gunil motioned for them to get going.
“Wait! Wait! Wait! We haven’t introduced ourselves yet,” one says. “I’m Jooyeon,” he introduced himself.
“I’m Jiseok,” another one said.
“Seungmin.” The boy gave you a half wave.
“Jungsu,” he smiled.
“I’m Hyeongjun,” the last one says shyly.
“Nice to meet you guys,” you state.
“You like to listen to music?” Jiseok pointed to your cassette player. You nodded.
“Yeah you could say that,” you answered.
“Do you want to come to the music shop with us then?” Jiseok offered.
“Maybe some other time. We should be heading back now,” Gunil interjected, standing up.
“Oh don’t be silly Gunil. It’s not even late afternoon yet. Let me see what you listen to, the music store probably has it.” Jiseok reaches for the cassette player you had sitting on the table. Wasting no time in opening it and taking a look at the cassette before you could say anything. “You listen to them too! I-why don’t I recognize any of these songs?” Jiseok starts to look at the cassette closer.
“Oh that’s be-”
“1993!” Jiseok’s eyes widened. “H-how do you have a cassette from 1993?” Jiseok looked at you in disbelief. You looked at Gunil in a panic. He looked back at you just as panicked. “What’s with those looks? What’s going on?” Jiseok interrogated.
“Well, you see, I may or may not be from 34 years in the future,” you said. Jiseok’s face deadpans for a moment before he bursts out laughing.
“That’s a good one. I didn’t think you’d be so funny, but seriously what is this a fake or something?” He waved the cassette in his hand.
“Listen to it,” Gunil tells him.
“What?” Jiseok responded.
“Listen to it,” he gestured for Jiseok to put the cassette back in the player. Jiseok looked skeptical, but he did as he was told. His eyes widened again as he listened to the song he’s never heard before, but is unmistakably from the artist.
“How is this possible?” Jiseok asked, removing the headphones from his ears. You reach over taking the cassette player back from him.
“That’s what I want to know,” you sighed.
“Wait a second, are you actually saying that she’s from the future?” Seungmin speaks up.
“I know it’s hard to believe, but yeah,” Gunil states.
“Hard to believe? It’s completely crazy!” Seungmin declares.
“You don’t have to believe it if you don’t want to, but Gunil and I should really get going now,” you say. Gunil gathers the bags of your recently bought items and makes his way to your side.
“Hold on you can’t just leave after saying you're from the future,” Jooyeon followed after you and Gunil.
“Ok then you can follow us, but I told my mom we're gonna go pick up y/n’s things. She’ll start to worry if we’re gone for too much longer,” Gunil tells. Like a group of ducklings Gunil’s friends started to follow after you two.
“We should probably put the stuff into the duffle bag,” you tell Gunil.
“You’re right. Let’s stop for a second.” Gunil stepped aside and the two of you began to pull your recently bought items and put them into the duffle bag.
“I take it your parents don’t know that she’s from the future?” Jungsu inferred.
“No, she’s a friend, who moved here recently and is staying with us while her parents are away,” Gunil informed.
“Do you know where your parents are?” Jooyeon randomly asked. You stopped loading clothes into the duffle bag to think.
“Umm…if it’s 1990 then,” you pause to do some mental math. “My mom would be sixteen, so she’d be living with my grandparents. I know she goes to the same high school as you guys do,” you say.
“How do you know that?” Gunil asked as he finished putting the last piece of clothing into the duffle bag and zipped it up.
“I saw a picture of you in her old yearbook,” you tell him. It’s a bit ironic that you called the yearbook old considering that it hasn’t been made yet. You go to take the duffle bag from him, but he ignores you and swings it over his own shoulder.
“Oh, that’s how you knew my name started with a G,”’ Gunil commented as he began walking in the direction of his house.
“Does the name Lee Jooyeon mean anything in the future?” Jooyeon quickly followed behind you both.
“No, sorry,” you shook your head.
“What about Kwak Jiseok?” Jiseok cut in, appearing beside Jooyeon. Again you shook your head.
“How about Seungmin then? Oh Seungmin,” Jooyeon tried.
“Oh Seungmin?” you repeated a bit louder. You did recognize that name.
“Don’t tell us he’s the one who got famous?” Jiseok said. You laughed. While Seungmin let out an offended “Hey!”
“No, he’s not famous. I just know the name because my dad hated him,” you explained.
“Why would your dad hate me?” Seungmin asked with a bit of hurt in his eyes.
“I thought you didn’t believe her,” Hyeongjun commented.
“I-I don’t, not entirely, but if someone hates me,” Seungmin stuttered.
“Because you always beat him at track. My dad was the top track athlete at his school, but whenever it came to school competitions he could never beat Seungmin. He always came in second,” you explained.
“So you’re saying your dad is d/n?” he said your father’s name.
“Yeah, that’s him,” you confirmed.
“No way,” Seungmin states in denial.
“What? You don’t see the resemblance?” You turned to face Seungmin. Seungmin leaned closer to inspect your face. You slightly turned your head from side to side to give him a better look at your features. Suddenly Gunil reaches for your wrist pulling you up beside him.
“It doesn’t matter if he believes you or not. Let’s hurry up and get home,” he quickly said. You can hear the rest of the boys joking about something behind you.
“Mom, we're back!” Gunil shouted upon entering his house.
“That took a bit longer than I- oh the boys are with you,” his mom says.
“Yeah we ran into them along the way,” Gunil tells.
“Well make yourselves at home,” his mom smiles and steps aside. You all make your way to Gunil’s room, making a pit stop by the guest room you were staying in to set your bag down.
Jooyeon, Jiseok and Hyeongjun made themselves comfortable on Gunil’s bed. Jungsu sat at a desk. Seungmin sat on top of the desk. You stood there awkwardly until Gunil grabbed some pillows from his bed for you two to sit on.
“So if you’re from the future how did you get here?” Jooyeon was quick to ask you more questions.
“This,” you held up your mom’s cassette player.
“And you let me listen to it!” Jiseok yelled.
“It happened when she hit the rewind button, not just from listening to it,” Gunil defended.
“Still,” Jiseok grumbled.
“Since you’re still here I’m guessing pressing fast forward doesn’t send you back?” Jungsu presumed.
“Nope,” you shook your head.
“How are you gonna get home then?” Jooyeon questioned.
“That’s what I want to know,” you sighed.
“We’ll figure it out,” Gunil told you comfortingly.
“Maybe it’s cause the cassette is from 1993,” Jiseok spoke.
“Huh?” you questioned, not understanding what he meant.
“The cassette is from 1993, so it technically doesn’t exist here yet. Maybe that’s why you can’t go home,” he elaborated.
“Are you saying I’m gonna be stuck here for three years!” you panicked.
“No,no, no. He doesn’t know what he’s talking about.” Gunil tried to console you, placing his hands on your knee. Meanwhile Jungsu was scolding Jiseok for what he said.
“What he said kinda makes sense though,” you stated worriedly.
“No, what the others said is right. I’m an idiot, I don't know what I’m talking about.” Jiseok tried to fix the panic he caused you. Seungmin still doesn’t really believe that you’re from the future, but seeing the way you’re freaking out right now makes him want to. He definitely feels bad for you, cause even if you weren’t from the future your situation right now surely isn’t ideal. Gunil is still trying to ease your nerves.
“How about we go to the arcade?” Hyeongjun suggests amidst the bit of chaos happening.
“I’m not sure now is really-” Jungsu started.
“I’ve never been to an arcade,” you stated.
“You’ve never been to the arcade? Do they not exist in the future?” Jooyeon asked, astonished.
“They exist. I’ve just never been,” you informed.
“Oh, well we totally have to go then,” he said, hopping up from Gunil’s bed.
“Right now?” Seungmin questioned.
“Well we don’t know when y/n will return home, so if we want to do something with them we should do it now,” Jooyeon reasoned.
With that you found yourselves walking to the nearest arcade. Jooyeon and Jiseok practically dragged you because they were excited to play games with you. While Gunil was trying to tell them to slow down, not wanting you to accidentally get hurt.
The arcade was really fun. It managed to take your mind off your current situation for a while. Jooyeon and Jiseok were excited to teach you how to play the games and maybe tease you when you weren’t so good at one. Hyeongjun was much more chill and helpful when it came to games you had no idea how to play. Gunil stared at you admiringly. He felt like he could relax a bit seeing you genuinely smile and have fun.
“Are you gonna confess to them before they go back home or are you gonna hide your feelings forever?” Jungsu asked, resting an arm on Gunil’s shoulder.
“They want to go home. I shouldn’t complicate their situation any more,” Gunil said.
“You’re allowed to be a little selfish you know?” Jungsu voices.
“Even if I did confess it’s not like we can exactly be together. Plus I’m sure being in a relationship is the last thing on her mind,” Gunil notes.
“It’s a given that you can’t stay together, but do you really want to give up on being with her, even if it’s for a short amount of time?” Jungsu put to question.
Gunil saw you at the park on the day you first arrived. He thought that you were cute, so he may have accidentally sent the ball he and his friends were playing with your way. He was looking for an excuse to talk to you. When he saw you sitting on the sidewalk on his way home he couldn’t up the god given opportunity to talk to you again. Upon finding out about your situation it was clear that you were very stressed, but Gunil couldn’t help but feel a teensy bit glad. He was able to spend more time with you because of it. He’d be lying if he said he didn’t want that. Jungsu told him that he was allowed to be selfish, but he was already being selfish. He didn’t simply offer to help you out of the goodness of his heart. No, it was because he liked you. He was already being selfish with his actions, so he didn’t know how far he should go with selfishness. Would it be too selfish to tell you how he felt about you?
Gunil is interrupted from his internal struggle when he sees you excitedly jumping up and down at a claw machine, reaching down to claim your stuffed prize.
“Gunil look!” You hurried over to him to show him the turtle you just won. Gunil falls for you even more, finding you adorable.
“It’s cute,” he smiles at you. He means both you and the turtle.
After your time spent at the arcade you part ways with Gunil’s friends. Gunil enjoys it being just you and him again. He watches you as you walk looking down at the stuffed turtle you just won.
“What should I name it?” you asked Gunil for his opinion.
“Umm?” Gunil thought.
A loud honk interrupts his thinking. He looks at the sound of the honk seeing a truck fastly approaching you two as you're midway across the crosswalk. Gunil quickly pulls you out of the way of the vehicle. The truck goes wheezing past you two.
CRASH! SNAP! CRACK! Panic rages through your body as you stare at your mom’s old cassette player that is now in pieces. It was haphazardly shoved in your pocket and the force of Gunil suddenly pulling you must’ve somehow made it pop out of your pocket.
“Are you ok?” Gunil looks you over still not noticing what had just happened.
“I’m. I’m. Uh, the- how am I?” Your non-coherently sputter out, pointing at the cassette player.
“What?” Gunil flows the direction of your finger and sees the broken cassette player. Gunil quickly goes to gather the broken pieces.
“It’s gonna be ok?” He tried to calm you.
“How is it going to be ok? That- that’s my only way home and it’s-” you heaved.
“Look at me,” Gunil says calmly. Your eyes hesitantly tear away from the broken pieces in his hands to look at his face.
“It’ll be ok. There’s a repair shop we can take it too. They’ll fix it,” he tells you.
“But what if-”
“They’ll fix it,” he told you firmly.
“Ok,” you let out a shaky breath.
Gunil and you arrived at the repair shop. You’re shaking with nerves. Fearing for the worst. That your mom’s cassette player will be unfixable and you’ll be stuck here forever.
“I think it would be easier to buy a new cassette player,” the worker of the shop informed. It made your heart sink to your stomach.
“It was a gift from her mom. You can surely fix it right?” Gunil told the worker in a passive aggressive voice.
“Look man-” Gunil leaned whisper something to the guy. “Ok, I’ll see what I can do. Come back in a week to pick it up,” the worker says.
“Great, thank you,” Gunil said to the worker.
“Come on.” Gunil wrapped his arm around your shoulder leading you out of the store.
“Can he really fix it?” you asked, doubtfully.
“He’ll fix it,” Gunil said confidently. This was going to be the longest week of your life.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
It indeedly was the longest week of your life. Gunil tried his very best to keep you distracted. He wanted to show you the joy of living in the 90s. He took out around town, showing you his favorite spots. He invited you out with his friends (who have started to grow close with you.) You  could never completely shake the anxious feeling in your stomach though. Yes, you were having fun thanks to Gunil and his friends, but having fun didn’t make your problem go away. You were simply making the best out of a bad situation.
Currently you are sitting on the couch with Gunil, a movie playing on the t.v. It’s the night before you go pick up the cassette player. You bounced your leg anxiously as the fear of the worst began to set back in.
“Are you not interested in this movie?” Gunil asked you. It was an indirect way of asking if you were ok.
“I don’t think I’ll be interested in any movie. I’m too nervous. What if it couldn’t be fixed?” you told Gunil your worries.
“I told you it’ll be fixed.” Gunil scooted closer to you on the couch.
“You can’t know that for sure. What if I’m stuck here forever?” your voice raised slightly. Not because you were mad at Gunil, but because you were terrified of never being able to get home.
“Then I’ll take care of you forever,” Gunil answered. He tenderly took your hands in his.
“You can’t do that Gunil. You’ve already done so much, too much. I can’t keep burdening you, and your parents,” you argued.
“You aren't a burden y/n. I took you here because I want to look after you,” he tells you. His thumbs run over your knuckles.
“Realistically, how long can you do that? Your parents are bound to ask where my parents really are soon. What are we supposed to tell them? That I actually ran away from home? That my parents abandoned me? That I’m from the future?” you ranted.
“I get that you're really scared and stressed right now, but can you please just trust me. Let me take care of you. We don’t know if the cassette player is fixed or not right now. Let’s at least see how it goes tomorrow,” Gunil proposed.
“What if it couldn’t be fixed?” you asked again.
“Then you can have a mental breakdown, but I’ll take care of you during that too.” His thumbs stop rumbling your knuckles, but his grip remains grounding on your hands.
“Why do you care so much?” you questioned.
“Because I like you,” Gunil confessed. Your hands go slack in his due to shock.
“What do you mean?” you asked not being able to understand.
“I like you,” he repeated. “That ball didn’t accidentally land at your feet when we were in the park. I purposely kicked it over to you cause I wanted your attention. I thought you were pretty and wanted to talk to you,” he revealed.
“Then all this time you’ve…” You trailed off, not knowing exactly what you wanted to say.
“I know that you don’t like the situation you're in right now and that romance is one of the last things that would be on your mind. Which is why I wasn’t sure if I should tell you how I feel, but I’ve really enjoyed being with you this entire time. It’s selfish cause I know how stressed and scared you are. I really want to be by your side as long as I can,” he continued on.
“I feel most relaxed when you’re with me,” you tell him truthfully. “You’re right romance isn’t exactly on my to do list, but I like being with you too,” you say. A smile tugged at your lips. You moved your previously slack hand to hold Gunil’s hand back. Your words weren’t exactly a confession, but for Gunil they were more than enough. You liked being with him. That alone made him feel over the moon.
Gunil moved to lean against the back of the couch, pulling you along with him. His hands never left yours. Both of your eyes wandered back to the t.v that neither of you were paying attention to. Gunil being too wrapped up in the feeling of you leaning against him and the fact that you liked being beside him, just as he liked being beside you. Your nerves about finding out if your way home was fixed or not definitely keep you distracted. However you also found that the way Gunil was absentmindedly playing with your fingers and the calming warmth that radiated off of him proved to be an equally good distraction.
Sometime during you and Gunil basking in each other's presence the two of you drifted off to sleep. Your head falling on Gunil’s shoulder and his head resting on yours. Gunil’s hands placed protectively over yours from where they fell in the small space between your two bodies on the couch.
“He really tired to convince us that she’s just a friend,” Gunil’s mom said when her and Gunil’s dad returned home from their date night to find you and Gunil cuddled up on the couch.
“The hearts in his eyes were never fooling us dear,” his dad stated.
“They look so cute. I need to take a photo.” Gunil’s mom quickly and excitedly rushed off to grab the camera. She snapped a couple photos of you and Gunil. Then Gunil’s dad ushered her away from your sleeping forms, not wanting to wake the two of you and ruin the moment.
Your eyes cracked open in the morning, taking in the lighter room. You notice that the t.v has been turned off. Next you realize that your head is resting on Gunil’s shoulder and you can feel the weight of his head resting against yours. You slowly tried to remove your hands out from under Gunil’s. When they were almost free Gunil’s hands suddenly grasped onto your hands, bringing them back to his hold.
“Gunil,” you softly called out his name. You carefully lifted your head up from Gunil’s shoulder, which resulted in Gunil’s head coming down onto your shoulder.
“Gunil,” you tried again. “Gunil.” You shook your shoulder. Gunil started to stir awake.
“Mmh,” he mumbled, opening his eyes.
“Good morning,” you told him. Gunil now realizes the position that the two of you are in and sits up straight. Then he realizes that his hands are holding yours. A shade of pink dusts his cheeks.
“Good morning,” he said. “Do you want some breakfast? We have cereal or I could make some eggs,” he offered standing up from the couch.
“Cereal’s fine,” you say, standing up from the couch too. Gunil and you walk over to the kitchen and make your bowls of cereal. He pulls your chair out for you before you sit down.
“Thanks,” you smiled. He nodded then pulled out the chair beside you to sit down in.
“Look who’s up,” Gunil’s mom said as she entered the kitchen. You and Gunil each wished her a good morning. “Did you two sleep well?” she asked. You and Gunil share a glance. You both know she must’ve seen you two on the couch.
“Yeah, I slept well,” Gunil answered.
“Me too,” you followed. Your answer makes Gunil smile and Gunil’s mom certainly doesn’t miss it.
“That’s good. I know sleeping on the couch isn’t always the most comfortable, but you two looked so cute I didn’t want to disturb you guys,” she says. Both yours and Gunil’s faces flared red at her comment.
“Should we go pick up your cassette player now?” Gunil asked, changing the topic.
“Yes, we should,” you eagerly nodded. The two of you hurried up eating your cereal then rushed out of the kitchen. Gunil’s mom could only smile, finding you two adorable.
Once you and Gunil got ready you headed to the repair shop. The closer you got to the shop the more nervous you got. Gunil easily noticed how nervous you were and slipped his hand into your, giving it a reassuring squeeze.
“I got you,” he tells you.
The two of you arrive at the shop. You always thought the saying of feeling your heart in your throat was weird, but now you understand it cause it really did feel like your heart was in your throat.
“We’re here to pick up the cassette player,” Gunil told the worker.
“I know, I remember you,” the worker said, giving Gunil a look. The worker reaches under the counter and pulls out your mom’s cassette player. It looks like it’s fixed…accept for a crack that runs across the lid. “I couldn’t get rid of this crack, but it works,” the worker said.
“The crack doesn't matter. Thank you for fixing it,” you told the worker, taking the cassette player in your hands.
“Just doing my job,” he replied. Then he turns to Gunil, so that he can pay.
“Sorry about the crack,” Gunil says as you two exited the store.
“It’s ok. It answered a question actually,” you disclosed.
“What question?” Gunil asked.
“Back in the future, my mom and I were going through boxes of her old things. This cassette player was in one of the boxes and it had this exact crack, but my mom had no clue how it got there. She never remembered it having a crack,” you told.
“Well mystery solved then,” Gunil said.
“Yeah, mystery solved.” You unwrapped the headphones from around the cassette player and handed one to Gunil. He gladly took it and placed it in his ear. He took this time to wrap his arm around your shoulder, just like the first time you two listened to the cassette together.
Soon enough you arrived back at Gunil’s house to discover it empty, meaning his parents went out somewhere. The pair of you made yourselves comfortable on the couch.
“So what exactly happened when the cassette player brought you to the past,” Gunil questioned.
“I told you I hit rewind,” you chuckled.
“I know that, but did you hit any other button first or?” he clarified. You took a moment to think back.
“I smacked it,” you remembered. “When I first hit rewind it didn’t work, so I smacked it thinking it might get it to work,” you explained.
“Have you tried smacking it again?” he asked.
“No, but it just got fixed. I’m scared to smack it now,” you said.
“I’m not saying to smack it with all you got, but it’s worth a shot,” he stated. You lift your hand to give the cassette player a smack then paused.
“Are you that scared? Should I do it for you?” he offered.
“It’s not that.” You lowered your hand.
“Then what is it?”
“It’s funny. Most of the time I’ve been here, I’ve been wanting to go home, but right now it feels hard to leave,” you say.
“Well you know I’m not going to tell you to go,” Gunil said lightheartedly. “There’s no guarantee that smacking it would work either,” he notes.
“I know, but if it does. I think I’d rather try it later.”
“You wanna go get ice cream?” he suggested.
“Sounds good,” you agree.
You spent the rest of the day out with Gunil. Having your ice cream then going to walk around the mall. After the mall you walk aimlessly around the town.
“Well look who it is?” A voice spoke behind you two. Both you and Gunil turn your heads to see Jooyeon standing there with Jiseok. The pair of them had teasing smiles on their faces.
“Yeah look who it is,” Gunil said.
“It’s fixed,” Jiseok pointed to the cassette player in your hands.
“Yep.”
“Any ideas on how to get home?” he asked.
“We have an idea, but we don't know if it will work,” you said.
“How come you haven’t tried it yet?” Jooyeon questioned.
“Do you want me to leave without saying goodbye?” you said, quasi offended.
“Of course not. I’d be very sad if you just disappeared. You just always seem like you’re eager to go home, so I’d thought you’d jump at any chance,” he responded.
“I thought so too, but it’s harder to leave than I expected,” you say looking at Gunil.
“Aww have you grown attached to us! We’ve gotten attached to you too,” Jooyeon and Jiseok pull you into a sandwiched hug.
“You seriously can’t leave without saying goodbye ok?” Jiseok states pulling away.
“But there’s no way to tell when I’ll be leaving,” you brought up.
“We should have a goodbye party!” Jooyeon shouted. Jiseok immediately agreed.
“If we have a goodbye party and I don’t go home wouldn’t it be awkward?” You asked.
“Maybe a little, but with a goodbye party we won’t have to worry about not getting to say goodbye,” Jooyeon answered.
That’s how you found yourself at the very park, where you first arrived in the 90s. Surrounded by Gunil's friends, who are also your friends now too. Pizza boxes litter the ground along with soda cans.
“I still think this party is kinda stupid,” Seungmin said while taking a sip of soda.
“So if y/n just disappears and goes back home one day you’re not going to miss them and wish that you could’ve said goodbye?” Jungsu interrogated.
“Whether you believe she is from the future or not. She is still leaving one day no matter what,” Hyeongjun added.
“But we don’t know when that is, so having this party when we could still see them tomorrow seems kinda silly,” Seungmin defended.
“Exactly. We don’t know when. She could leave tonight, tomorrow, next week. This way we don’t miss saying goodbye,” Jooyeon said.
Goodbye parties typically are kinda sad, but you didn’t think this one would feel as sad as it did. You hadn’t really been in the 1990 all that long, yet you’ve made great friends, met a guy who makes your heart flutter and makes it hard to say goodbye. The boys taking the turns saying goodbye to you at the end of the party had all your eyes turning glossy.
“If I find you in the future then you’ll have to believe me then right?” you asked Seungmin.
“Yes, if you find me in the future. Looking as you do now. I’ll have no choice, but to believe you.”
“Then goodbye till then,” you told him.
“Goodbye y/n.” The party ended with a group hug and maybe some spilled tears that no one would admit too.
“Should I try smacking it?” you asked Gunil. The two of you were currently sitting on his bed.
“Do you want to?” he followed.
“With having the goodbye party I feel like I should at least try,” you say.
“Then let me say goodbye before you do,” he said.
“Hold on, let me go grab something,” you excused yourself. You went to your room and grabbed the stuffed turtle you won. You returned to Gunil’s room and handed him the turtle when you sat back down beside him.
“You’re giving this to me?” he checked.
“Mhm,” you hummed. “I always planned on giving it to you. I doubt it would come back to the future with me anyway, but I won it with giving it to you in mind,” you tell him. “Thank you.” Gunil hugs the stuffed turtle to his chest.
“It still doesn’t have a name,” you pointed out.
“I’ll think of one for it.” He already knew what he was gonna name it, but he felt too shy to name it after you right in front of you. He sets the turtle down on his pillow and turns to pull you into a hug.
“I’m really going to miss you,” he says, resting his head over your shoulder.
“I’m gonna miss you too,” you hug him back. “I like you too,” you confessed. Gunil pulled back enough to look at you.
“I’m a little late to say it back, but I wanted to say it before I leave,” you give him a sentimental smile. Gunil smiles at you back and cups your face in his hands. He leans forward, pressing a warm, loving, gentle kiss on your forehead. You close your eyes basking in the feeling of his lips on you. Your hands come up to hold his wrist lovingly. The two of you stay like that for a few moments. Saying nothing, but also somehow saying everything.
“Give it a try,” Gunil says, pulling away.
“Ok.” You put each side of the headphones in your ears. You hit play then gave the cassette player a smack. You took a breath and hit rewind. Nothing happened. Literally nothing happened. The rewind button didn’t work, the song kept playing like normal.
“It doesn’t work,” you say.
“We’ll just have to think of something else then,” Gunil said.
“No, like the rewind button doesn’t work. Did smacking it break it? This is what I worried about,” you complained.
“Hey it’s ok. Let me see.” Gunil takes the cassette player from your hands. This time he gives it a smack. “Try it now.” He handed it back over to you. You give Gunil one last look before hitting the button. The song began to play backwards and the room started to blur.
You were back in your bedroom. Only the cassette player wasn’t with you.
“Y/n can you come help me with these boxes?” your mom asked you. Help her with boxes? Like on the day you time traveled. You checked the date, surely enough it was the morning of the day you left.
“And why exactly have you decided to take a trip down memory lane?” you asked your mom. Letting out a heave as you set the heavy box down on your mom’s bed.
“I watched Jetsons: The Movie yesterday and it got me feeling nostalgic,” your mom answers you, taking off the lid to the box. “My old cassette player!” your mom called out excitedly as she pulled the old device from the box. “I used to use this all the time,” she tells you. There it is the very cassette player that took you back in time.
“So much that it cracked,” you joked. Despite knowing very well where the crack came from.
“I actually don’t remember it having a crack,” your mom said, scratching her head.
“Must’ve gotten dropped at some point,” you say, recalling the memory of Gunil pulling out of the way of the speeding vehicle.
“I wonder if it still works. I’ll buy batteries for it when I go out later,” she says. You looked into the box and pulled out the year book, flipping to the page with Gunil and your mom. A sad smile appeared on your face. Your finger slowly rubbed over Gunil’s image.
“He wasn’t my boyfriend if that’s what you’re wondering,” your mom pulls you from your gaze.
“Honey, are you ok? Your eyes are red,” your mom looked at you concerned.
“I think some dust got in my eyes when we pulled the boxes down,” you lied.
“Let me go get you a wet rag,” your mom hurried away. You missed Gunil. You missed him so much it hurt. You want to cry looking at his picture. Now you know he mistook your mom for you that day. That he was probably all excited to see you again, pulling you into a super tight back hug. Only to find out that it wasn’t you. “Here you go. Wipe your eyes,” your mom gives you the rag. You couldn’t hold the couple of stray tears that escaped as you held the rag to your eyes.
Later in the day when your mom got back with the batteries you listened to the cassette with her.
“Can I keep this for a while?” you asked her.
“Of course you can! Ooh I’ll go grab you my other cassettes to listen to.” She went to grab the other cassette. You didn’t plan on listening to them though. You were only going to listen to this one and remember your time spent in the 90s with Gunil. Still when she returned you brought the cassettes up to your room and sat them down.
“We found my old cassette player this morning,” your mom tells your dad as you all eat dinner.
“Oh really? Does it still work?” he asked.
“Yeah, but it has this crack across the lid that I don’t remember it having,” she answered.
“Guess it's a mystery,” your dad said.
“No, I dropped it when I time traveled back to 1990,” you say.
“That’s a good one,” your dad chuckled.
After dinner you headed up to your room. You laid down in your bed and listened to the cassette player. Tears cascaded down your face.
For the next week you cooped up in your room. Feeling what you would call a heartbreak. The worst part was that you couldn’t talk about it. All you could do was listen to the cassette as you thought about your memories with Gunil and his friends. You wished that you could see Gunil one last time. You spent the bulk of your time there worrying about how to get back home, but now ironically enough all you want to do is go back, just one more time.
“Please, please, just one more time,” you pleaded.
“Y/n!” You opened your eyes and there Gunil is standing right in front of you.
“Gunil!” You throw yourself into his arms. He crushes you in the tightest hug. “Wait, how is this possible? I didn’t hit rewind or anything.”
“I need to do something I really regretted not doing before you left,” he said.
“What’s that?” you questioned.
Gunil cups your face just like he did when he was saying goodbye. Expect this time instead of leaning in and kissing your forehead, his lips land on yours. Your hands travel to his shoulders and one of his hands moves to cradle the back of your head.
“That.” He pulls away to rest his forehead against yours. “I really regretted not doing that.”
Your eyes open and again and your back in your bedroom. You don’t know if what just happened was a dream or not. You decide to go with not because you wanted it to be real.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
“Honey, can you run to the store real quick? I realized I forgot something for dinner tonight,” your mom asked your dad.
“Does dinner really need it?” your dad asked.
“Yes, why are you too lazy to go?”
“No, Seungmin grocery shops today I don’t want to run into him,”
“Are you serious? After all these years do you still hate Seungmin that much?” Your mom asked in disbelief.
“It’s not my fault I ran into him at the grocery store. He just had to bag his belongings quicker than me. He's a stupidly fast asshole,” your dad complained.
“I’ll go mom,” you speak up. You needed to see Seungmin.
“Thank you,” your mom told you.
You arrived at the store, found what your mom needed for dinner and then walked around looking for Seungmin, hoping that he was there.
“Oh Seungmin!” you called out when you saw a guy that looked like he could be an older version of Seungmin. The dude turns around at you looking perplexed at who could be calling his name.
“Y/n?” he said.
“You believe me now right?”
“How is this possible?”
“You know how it is. Time travel,” you sassed.
“You look exactly the same,” he says. He’s still partly in denial.
“Yeah, it’s been 34 years for you, but It’s only been a week for me. Are you and Gunil still friends?” you asked, changing your tone.
“We’re friends for life,” Seungmin stated “Give me your phone,” he told you.
“Why?” you asked, still pulling out your phone nonetheless. Seungmin took it from you and began to type something in.
“You should give him a call. He’s been waiting,” Seungmin said. You stare down at the number typed on your phone screen.
You got into the car and sat down. You stared at the number once more before hitting the call button. You feel butterflies dancing in your stomach.
“Hello?” he picked up.
“Hey Gunil,” you say.
“Y/n?” he asked. He looked over to the stuffed turtle that he still keeps on his bed even after all these years.
“You’ve been waiting a long time right?”
“I’d wait forever if I had too.”
To the Horizon
Haldir X F!Reader — Lord of the Rings
Tumblr media Tumblr media
There is a moment when the sun is not visible, where light brushes the heavens horizon and mountains crest dark shadows over mist. A moment easily unseen, and rarely enjoyed. In that hour, a daughter is born. Conceived in the Lonely Mountain— carried across Middle Earth, born in the Woodland Palace to Elondiel. Wife of Thorin Oakensheild, daughter of Lord Thranduil, and mother to last heir of Erebor. Lady Y/N, of wood and stone.
Elondiel loved only one, waiting for Y/N to come of age so that she may finally sail to the undying lands. Thranduil had long sailed, Y/N the heir to two realms—carrying the fate of many as they awaited. That day came and went, and Y/N began to follow in their uncle’s footsteps—crossing lands and meeting strangers. They wanted to understand all of Middle Earth, but time was not on their side, and soon the throne of elves and dwarves called for their rightful Queen. A call Y/N answered swiftly.
Legolas returned with you, if only for a few years, to ease the transition and advise his niece. He felt responsible, had he wanted the throne—then you never would have to rule over both realms. But he didn’t. So heavy is the crown atop your head.
Soon it was only you, a quiet and hefty silence as you sat within the woodland realm. No one to listen. A lonely soul, plagued with only stories of your families lineage and triumphs—and no one to share the burden.
“I will be dead before I see the Ring in the hands of an elf!” Echoes of shouts vibrate the walls of Rivendell, your cloak resting easy on your shoulders as you and your party make their way to the council. Legolas had written to say he would attend on behalf of elves, but you worried— you needed to see the ring for yourself. To know exactly what kind of world you inherited. “NEVER TRUST AN ELF!” How original? You think quietly to yourself as the shouts grow closer, echoing less, but instead becoming much louder.
But chaos dies as another pipes up, one smaller and unfamiliar— young, that would be the word you would use. You walk in silently, not needing grandeur, but watching as all eyes turned to the small hobbit. As your uncle joins the party, he spots you amongst soldiers. Curious, and curiouser.
You smile at the hobbit— “Master Frodo Baggins. I don’t believe we’ve met.” Elrond raises his brow, leaning into his podium at the head of the council. “I’m Y/N, my parents and your uncle lead a great quest together. It would be an honor to uphold that alliance, and join your company.” There’s a whisper amongst the guards that harsh with a glance, you had decided long before arrival.
It is time to live up to your bloodline.
“Y/N, you can’t just join a quest.” You ignore Aragorn as the rest of the fellowship rest together.
“And yet, I did.” You deadpan, sorting your arrows into your quiver—preparing new feathers to go at the end of the shafts.
“Because who’s going to tell the Queen of Erebor AND the woodland.. NO!” His voice raises at the end as you rest the quiver on your thigh and look up at him with a bitter edge.
“Obviously the should be King of Gondor is trying!” You spot Legolas rolling his eyes, he’d already had this same argument and lost just Aragorn is going to lose now.
“That’s low.” You glare at Gimili who chooses now to speak up, as he gives a throaty chuckle. But he silenced himself, knowing full well you still had not forgiven him for his earlier comment about elves. You were half elf yourself, and were a testament of love between elves and dwarves.
“Shut it, Gimili.” You look back at Aragorn, “If I am to have a realm to look after, then I must help. At least for the better half of the journey.” You pause, “do something other than wait in those halls of stone.” So many hid away from Sauron, but your world needs some willing to stand and you are one of those. Have been for a long time.
The world has grown much harsher than the stories your mother told you, and much darker than she probably could have imagined. “Believe me Aragorn. If they were going to budge, I’d have convinced them myself.” Legolas smirks from his small perch, “But remember who their parents and grandparents are, probably the most stubborn people to ever walk middle earth.” To which you roll your eyes.
“Says the ellon who is related to two of those stubborn people.” His cheeks rise as you sling your quiver over your back, having finished another small batch of arrows.
He tsks, “Aaaa but see that’s only half, of what makes up a whole you.” Legolas does, however, finally look at Aragorn with a shrug. “Might as well keep moving, not like they’re turning back now.” Aragorn sighs with defeat, it makes sense that you and Legolas are cut from the same cloth— stubborn is apart of their threading. In their DNA.
.
.
The image of Gandalf falling to his death burns into your memory, you hoped for a moment that the Wizard would live. But you did not see him rise from the shadow. That is when the fear set in, when you could not look away from Uncle without worrying he would be gone the second you did so. Worried that the last of your family would die before the end of this journey, but for now, as Lothlorien grows closer. You ache for sweet peace, to sleep without that fear. Maybe this was a mistake, but you must continue onward because the fellowship will continue.
“Haldir…” You whisper, watching as he corners the poor dwarf and hobbit—you met him twice before, once in Lothlorien with Legolas and once when he escorted Celebron to your coronation.
“Y/N.” You silence his taunts to Gimili, because with you in his sight he could not think of anything witty. You make it impossible to think at all if he were completely honest with himself. There is something that is both enchanting and discouraging about your aura, it is one that is both gentle and regal. You carry a name that weighs heavily on his mind when the tightness in his chest arises. He may be the Marchwarden, but he is not anything close to exemplary—nothing special that deserves such kindness from the likes of you.
For you, Haldir represents something very different than how he perceives himself. While he bowed his head in respect, unlike most ellons who ran out of fear. He seemed to draw closer the more he knew about you.
“Tonight is quite special, as we welcome my niece to the throne.” You smile up at your uncle as you stand to the side, eyes shift to you, but you ignore them. “She rises as a new dawn for elves and dwarves alike, a united rule—a great queen.” Words, that’s all they are, but they are kind at least. Unlike the words some spit in your direction, but the weight of the woodland crown reminds you of the truth— that you are above such words. You must be.
But the truth is, rumors slipped away the closer the throne got because you were meant to be above it all. You told yourself their lies did not matter until that was exactly what happened, their lies began to mean nothing. Legolas raises his glass, "To our queen, may the company you keep be sweet, but the wine sweeter." This was the uncle many did not see, the one who lifted his glass high and downed the wine quickly. No longer burdened with the future on his shoulders, you hear he seems lighter than he was before.
You bring the wine to your lips, but never let them part—before setting the glass on the table, still filled, but your lips tinted red.
"Malady Y/N..." Haldir leans in to kiss the top of your knuckles, his warm palm still wrapped around your fingertips as he smiles at you. "Congratulations."
"Haldir, no need for formalities. We are friends." As you speak though, he adjusts your hand to rest it on his arm. Pulling you close as he guides you through the party.
"The greatest of friends, but tonight, you are Queen alone." His eyes dance, glittering in the starlight—The Woodland Realm never seemed so bright. To him, or to you. "Although despite the never ending wine, your glass never empties?" It's not so much a question, because you know he noticed your like of appetite.
"I haven't eaten all day." Your breath falters, "A sip would probably send me to the floor." An exaggeration, but not by much— you really aren't sure why your stomach seemed to be in knots. You've wanted this your whole life, you loved adventure, but you loved this world too.
"A sip?" He grabs a tray of pastries, fluffy breads with soft jams and cheeses— arms still intertwined, you leave the main room quickly. Laughing as he speaks, "Well can't have that." Only you. He was the collected and cold marchwarden, but you made him giddy. You caused butterflies in his chest and hope to take root in his thoughts, for once he is able to imagine a future beyond Lothlorien. While he made you calm, he took every anxiety and turned it to mush before your eyes. He fixed problems that you didn't know there was an answer to. He made life simple.
You bite down on a raspberry tart, enjoying the sour and sweet bursts. The crust flaky and melting on your tongue—and Haldir simply smiles. "Why are you so kind to me?"
"Because you were kind first." Even before he was marchwarden, you treated him as an equal—someone with value. Not every royal saw them as the same, but you did. You did not care about the color of his cloak or the tone of his hair, his rank or his wealth. You didn't care about status at all. That was what made you so good, and so intriguing. His smile almost falters, but instead it just softens: "You were kind when I was nothing."
You lift his chin, keeping his icy orbs on you—trying to imagine a deeper shade to fall into, but you can't. You'd drown in those eyes if that was possible. "You were never nothing."
You stay to the back of the party, waiting until everyone has passed to smile at Haldir. Happy to see someone you are so familiar with. If you're honest, it's been a long journey. "Dearest Y/N." He whispers, embraces you close to his body, chin resting on top of your head. You shut your eyes, pushing the air out of your lungs, but intake sharply as your hand grabs at your wound harder. You weren't expecting it to hurt so bad.
His brow creases as he scans over your form, trying to find the source of your pain and even when he does. His expression remains even, and controlled. It's like every amount of history melted away and left the marchwarden in front of you. Your eyes grow heavy, but you force yourself to stay upright—just trying to get a read on him, but it's pointless because he's already tucking his arm under your armpits. Taking on most of your weight as you breathe deeply, he moves without words—this is the coldest he's ever been with you.
But he's not wrong to rush you to the medical wing, because by the time you're there—you're struggling to see the world clear. Everything blurring together as you lean into him, his words getting lost in the haze. It's like a slow fade that speeds up, colors blend until only the blue of his eyes are clear. How are they so clear?
You hear bits though, shards of conversation. "High priority..." "slash..." "Lost a lot of blood..." But it all goes dark eventually, and you let your body slip into the mattress. The thing is, it's a cold table you lay on—you were never on a mattress. There was never anything soft beneath you besides the palms of Haldir's hand when he lifted you onto the wood.
You had half expected for the darkness to pass quickly, and it did, but you did not wake. Instead, you remain still on the table with only memories to keep you company.
Legolas glances down at you as the Realm of Light comes into view, the way your eyes light up as the adventure draws to a close. You hadn't been this far from the Woodland realm before, the furthest you've ever been being the Lonely Mountain. Your mother had just set sail, her heart too broken to remain in MiddleEarth so it was just you and your uncle Legolas. With them gone, he had taken it upon himself to prepare you for your future, the next thousand years you would spend ruling the elves and dwarves. Before that, he wanted you to see the beauty of the world that is kissed by sunrises and sunsets.
Then it begins to shift, not just watching, but it feels as though you are reliving the past. Is it the past? Maybe you had been dreaming up until now, maybe none of it happened yet? Maybe you imagined the future? You glance down at your hands, wiggling your fingers to see them move as you command. You feel your heart pound in your chest— the overlay of purple flowers in full bloom, spread across the bottom branches of the trees. You don't remember ever leaving the Fellowship, but you also clearly remember living this memory before. But it washes over you, embracing every limb and facet of your being as you smile.
At first, Legolas is the one leading you into the hall of light, guards surrounding on both sides. Upon reaching the hall, all of them part off to leave you at the forefront—you are the one that matters right now. Lady Galadriel smiles, you've seen many portraits of her, but none of them could ever compare to her beauty. You bow your head: "Milady."
In return, as you life your head, she bows to you, as does Lord Celeborn. "Lady Y/N of the Greenwood and The Lonely Mountain." Your title has changed, but you shake off the pinch and continue to live out the past. No the present.... This, you just want to feel like you used to feel. How you felt when you first met him.
Lady Galadriel tilts her head, watching you curiously—but words never leave her lips. Instead, she gestures to the ellon to her right with a smile. "I'm sure you are tired from you journey." You nod, but never dare look away from him—it's a wonder to re-live falling in love. To feel as you felt then. "Haldir will show you the way, he will also be your guard for your time here." Hmmmm, but you do not fight—too curious and too, well you don't know the word. Just that you want to know more.
Oddly enough, he doesn't say a word as he walks in front of you--hands tucked behind his back and posture much stiffer than you would like. You had spent far too long wondering if people would treat you differently, and the truth is, they do. You will always be treated differently, and you'll just have to come to terms with that. The silence drags almost as long as the halls, your throat goes dry until the words just spill off of your tongue.
"You could say something... Anything... Honestly, I'm neither mute or too tired, and a little conversation would be nice." He doesn't say anything, but you see his fingers flex into his palm and you sigh loudly. It's the same story, even here—and your uncle Legolas hadn't even had time to say a word. People just naturally care too much about the title and think it means more than it does, that it changes a person, but it's all very isolating.
You remember then very clearly, the way he seemed to hide the smile with a cough. But his eyes find yours, and your return the smile.
When you awoke, your body could not move—stuck, but you could feel the soft grasp of a hand wrapped around your own. The sensation was innocent, and you drifted off under the protection of Haldir because it couldn’t have been anyone else.
.
.
.
No one said a word as darkness descended upon Helm's Deep, in that silence, you feel Haldir's fingers wrap around your own. You had not counted on him arriving, thought that he would be safe in the Realm of Light, but you were thankful for the comfort.
The Marchwarden of Lothlorien had gained many things in the last few years, your comforting touch was by far the most valuable. You made every day worth existing, and every moment more enticing. You were as steady as the woodland realm and as mighty as the lonely mountain—you were neither entirely dwarf nor elf, but you were perfect.
“If tonight is my last, I am grateful to have spent it with you.”
“If tonight’s my last, then—” You pull him into you, he’s much taller but it doesn’t take much to bring him close. “Then I want you to know I choose you. Under every moon and star, no one in middle earth compares Haldir.”
Something in the way his eyes shift, you note the shimmer of light as the stars burn above. All of the fear, the desperation and love—above all else, you love Haldir.
Your other hand finds itself embracing his cheek as you bring him to your lips, letting all of the love pour through you. Desperate to keep him there—knowing you love him so. He speaks through the kiss, foreheads together as he pulls you close.
“If tonight is my last, know a day with you is more than a hundred centuries without. Your name on my last breath.”
“If tonight is my last, know it’s always been you.”
I’ll let you decide what happens next, if they live or die—this is where this ends.
•Much love, Ellie•
So in the Chthonic!Apollo and Chthonic!Athena aus, how is all this conflict affecting the camps? Are they aware that it’s happening at all? When the gods go to war, the demigods tend to get dragged in, whether they want to or not but Camp Half-Blood at the very least has changed a lot from the first pjo book. Before that, campers would have taken sides and gone against each other depending on what side their parents took but after the Second Titan War, camp has felt a lot more united. Like, they’re no longer fighting for the gods as much as they’re fighting for each other so I think they’d be way less likely to take sides against each other, even (or especially) if a war does break out. Is camp still like that or has a decade of peace made them forget how important watching each other’s backs is?
And considering how little Camp Jupiter actually interacts with the gods, do they hear about the conflict or do they stay oblivious? I find it hard to believe the Legion would splinter over this since they are far more focused on the greater well-being of New Rome than following their respective godly parents. The Romans have always felt like a much more independent entity from the gods to me, existing in the same world and aligned with them but acting of their own accord and interests.
Like, the Romans can do anything they want to their place where the Greeks can’t even enter a cabin that isn’t their own without feeling like they might offend a god. They definitely have far more eyes on them and I wonder if that’s going to influence how the events on Olympus are affecting both camps.
So I'll go for Chthonic Athena first here and then Chthonic Apollo
So for the Athena AU, nothing is effecting the camps yet, and might not at all. Athena has no living children when she dies, and the Council are keeping her death Locked Down until they can decide what to do with Zeus. Chiron and Dionysus know, as far as either of the Camps go, but that's it.
And the reason Hades is declaring war at all is because of Zeus traumatizing and killing Athena with powers he had no domain over and shouldn't have had access to. That is not the kind of man that should be king. So as soon as he finds out Zeus has been dethroned already and that Hestia's going to be replacing him, he's totally willing to drop it completely. That's what he wants the war to result in, Zeus being dethroned and punished properly for what he's done.
But he doesn't know any of that yet. He's too busy caring for and healing Athena and running the Underworld to go to any meetings that are called. And he can't send anyone in his place because of the preparations for said war.
It's almost like someone that realizes all of this will have to go to the Underworld himself and tell him about it! Hint hint
Apollo AU under the cut
Now for the Apollo AU, it's very different. Not only is Zeus still on the throne, but Apollo actually flashed himself and Athena down to Camp Half-Blood when they ran because of his time as a mortal. He raided Dionysus's supplies because Dionysus wasn't at the meeting and didn't know he and Athena were running yet. Dionysus and Chiron actually found him there and he threatened them until they swore on the Styx that they wouldn't tell anyone he and Athena had been there until he specifically told them otherwise.
So Chiron and Dionysus both know they're running immediately. None of the campers saw them, because it was the off season, but Chiron and Dionysus now know something is terribly wrong with Athena. Then they realize just how dire it is when the Fates send Apollo a vision and he looks terrified before bolting out of there like Tartarus himself is after them.
Hermes flashes in exactly 3 minutes later, asking if they'd seen either of them.
So the thing with Hades declaring war in the Apollo AU is that he's not declaring war on the camps, or earth, or mortals, or even really Olympus. He's declaring war on Zeus. Specifically, declaring war on Zeus's kingship.
If Zeus and the rest of the council decide to get the camps or even the Hunter's involved, that's on Olympus, not him. Hells, he'll even do his best to avoid half-blood casualties because he knows that both his kids and Apollo and Athena care about the campers.
So Hades is going to do his best to avoid getting any of the half-bloods involved in the war, but if the camps decide to willingly fight him on it, he and his forces will fight back.
*Please note the willingly there! Because death is fair where life is not. He will give them chances to surrender, he will give them warnings to go home, he'll set protection for the camp itself so the other gods can't punish them if they decide not to fight if they ask him to.
But if they decide to get in the way anyway?
They will be killed for it.
Do you have any more headcanons of Chris being a dad? This time raising his teenager who wants to get in the show despite reader's detest?
My motivation is back. 🙌 Apologises for putting these off for so long and thank you all so much for being so patient. I hope you’ve all had a wonderful start in the Spring Season and may you enjoy the read!💗
CHRIS MCLEAN AS A DAD HEADCANONS PART 2
Tumblr media
Once a month, he and the child have this all nighter of ordering fast food and playing video games.
Chris is the type of dad to play games like Mortal Kombat, Call of Duty and GTA 5 with his teenager.
Obviously you don’t approve of it, but it’s better than her trying to persuade you into letting her on his show.
Like last time.
“Chris’ show?” you consciously blinked,“Why would you want to go on that show, sweetheart?”
“I have what it takes!” she gleefully replies, putting a proud hand on her chest,“And besides, if you’re comfortable with all the other kids my age going on, you should be fine with me, mom!”
You sighed. There would be so many complications that could wreck Total Drama if the host’s damn daughterjoined as a contestant,“But my dear... The whole point of the show is to win money! And mommy and daddy already-“
“I don’t care about the money!” she snapped in interruption, yet her tone remained in her own way benevolent,“Iwant to start drama. I’ve had plenty of experience in doing that!”
To your horror, Chris gave a grand laugh at that,“That’s my girl!”
“Support me here! I’m not letting you feed into her delusion that she’ll actually be going on your show! This is horrible influence!“ you scolded Chris unimpressed with how okay he was with this idea, turning back to the daughter in question, with a dejected frown,“Darling, it’s a bad idea! Maybe another show daddy’s hosting, but notthis one. I don’t approve.”
“Daaaaaad.” she whined, her begging eyes rolled onto him.
“I know, I know.” Your husband exhales a disappointing breath. And it’s not exactly like he can bring her on secret since it’s a reality show,“Just goes to show how mother doesn’t always know best.”
“You said something, Chris?” You said, removing the flip flop off your foot and gripping it in your hand.
He nervously smiles seeing you armed,“Naaaah. I-I said nothing.”
You humphed. Why can’t they both see that you were thinking of them long term?
Regardless, he goes all out on spoiling her, no thing is ever too expensive for his little girl.
Why wait for sixteen to throw her an expensive birthday party?
Albeit, it seems she’s taken after your morals as she also puts a lot of her allowance (Keep in mind, she gets the literal prize money amount every month) towards charities and many shelters.
Thank God for that.
If she ever brought a boyfriend home, Chris would plaster hospitality and bump a fist.
Though, he’ll do a lot of interrogating and enjoy the hell out of torturing the guy if he turns out to be even the slightest bit scumbag.
Rather than letting his fame decide, Chris actually asked her which type of school she wanted to go to.
“Public!” she chose quickly.
Chris raised an eyebrow. He had bet a yacht and two helicopters she’d pick private,“Why’s that?”
“Because I read in a book once that this girl went to a boarding school and her dad, who was paying the fees, died so she got abused by the people at the school, and I don’t want you to die.”
Chris’ eyebrows then came to the same level as he chuckled,“I’m a host, not a military captain for World War One, tiger,” but sure, whatever she wanted.
She never had any crying at the dinner table over maths homework nights with him.
For he was way too busy to not hire a tutor for her.
“Hi darling!” you kiss her cheek,“How was school today?”
“School was good-“ she’d catch sight of Chris entering the kitchen and before you knew it, she was sprinting to him.
“Dad, dad, dad, dad, dad, I have new gossip to tell you!” she could hardly contain the excitement seeping on her face and tone.
He’d smirk and take a seat at his island counter, cup of coffee in hand,“I’m all ears!”
