AU Idea: Azula needs Katara to heal Zuko

So the idea here is that the final Agni Kai goes differently after Zuko gets hit by the lightning and Azula defeats and captures Katara without seriously hurting her.

However, Azula is now faced with a problem. Zuko is badly hurt and desperately needs medical attention, and in her current awful head space she can't stand the thought of losing Zuko. Her first thought is the palace medical staff, but it turns out she banished them all. She could try to get a doctor from elsewhere in Caldera, but she's banished all the servants she could use as messengers and in any case she's deeply paranoid and doesn't trust any outside doctor. They would probably poison Zuzu in order to spite her.

So Azula, in her nearly psychotic state, realizes she needs to have Katara heal Zuko or he's going to die, and she brings Katara back to him and demands she fix him.

I don't know where things go from here. Presumably Aang still defeats Ozai. Azula is sleep deprived and mentally exhausted and in terrible mind state, so she might collapse at any time.

That is the second TikTok video that has shown up on my FYP that is someone giving a Webtoon artist a hard time for their story about Ganymede. I already made a post about this but I feel like I need to keep saying it. Because I genuinely think there is some level of something (homophobia) that makes people not bat an eye at the dozens upon dozens of Hades&Persephone retellings but lose their minds at a possible Ganymede&Zeus retelling.

And the really frustrating thing about all of this? I'm pretty sure the artist has already said their story isn't going to be romanticising Ganymede's story and I've seen some of their related artwork backing this up. Yet these videos are full of people being passive aggressive and downright trying to bully the artist over it.

So frustrating!!!!

As a bilingual hungarian who learned english since age 9, the hardest parts in english wasn't the so many past present and future tenses (which is btw confusing, because in hungarian we only have past present and future, simple as it is), but for example the conjugation of words. English uses simple words for these and attach it before or after the other word. Do you know how we attach these?:

This is so far the longest word we have. And it makes sense.

Putting together the words in a sentence. In hungarian, around 90% of sentences makes sense if I switch up words and sentence parts. For an easy example:

Kimentem az utcára = Az utcára kimentem

Both sentence means 'I walked out on the street', and both versions makes sense. I can't do that in english a lot, which is confusing.

DATES AND NAMES. WHY SWITCHING THE ORDER UP??? It's 2024.03.08. and not like 8th of March, 2024. Dude, the year comes first, because I need to know what year you're talking about first. And names... There are so many Janes and James, why put THAT first?!? Family name comes first here, and I have no idea why you guys use weird names for the.. names. Forename and surname? How am I supposed to know from THAT which is which???

CURSING! YOU GUYS CAN'T CURSE AT ALL!! You have like fuck, shit, bitch, ass, and some more words and you guys mix these with each other, but mostly it's shit and fuck and their variations. I can write a whole fucking hungarian novel just with curse words and it would still have a top tier plot in it and it would make sense.

And just to stabilize my statement: "A jóbüdös mocskos gecis anyjába takarodna vissza az az undorító trehány kurva, hogy szopna le egy köcsögfejű vizilovat azzal a bamba rühes pofájával, a picsás faszába lőnének xanaxot hátha attól a szarrá baszott segge lenyugodna."

And I didn't even have to think hard on what to write. And it makes sense. English could be more creative with curses at least, because here we can even say what we ate the previous day and use that to curse the hell out of someone. (Nyelnél finomfőzeléket te kávéban traccsogó túrógombós seggű halászleves.) And you can try translate these, but to actually understand the point of what somebody wrote down in long curses, you need someone to understand the original language.

And the list goes on, but what truly strikes me in english, is that I myself try to translate a lot from hungarian to english, and the only reason this is more challenging than the other way around, is because english is simple. Way too simple. There are phrases that just doesn't feel the same once translated, don't hit the way it does originally. English became a world language because it's simple. And even Edgar Allen Poe, a dark artist of literature, who I deeply admire for his work, even there... the translated hungarian poems hit differently.

So to everyone out there who never had the full experience of learning another language and only speaks english: English is confusing, and simple. But the confusion of the weird rules both in grammar and pronouncing are the true struggles for non native speakers.

i love it actually when nonnative speakers make mistakes that reveal how their native languages work.

lots of koreans online say they "eat" drinks which would assume they only have one word which covers the concept of consumption.

arabic immigrants in sweden (my mother included) have a hard time differentiating between "i think/i believe/my opinion is" which suggests that in arabic these different modalities of speaker agency is treated as one or at least interchangeable.

swedish speakers in english will use should/shall/have to/must with much higher nuance precision than native english speakers, to the point where they sound well awkward, because the distinction between these commands in swedish is much clearer than in english. i make mistakes between is/am/are and has/have constantly because swedish only has one pronoun covering all grammatical persons.

i've heard speakers of languages without gendered pronouns (finnish, the chinese dialects, and a tonne more) make he/she mistakes because it's hard(!!) to learn two or more gendered pronouns and when to use them correctly.

how neat is that?! it add a charm to international english usage in particular and make our appreciation of both our native languages and our learnt ones stronger...!!

It's so funny to me that as a major arachnophobe, I too have a "spider-sense". I can always sense when there is a spider nearby, spot it even in the most camoflaged locations, no matter the size. It's a curse.
