Do you think Edelgard perceives herself as a victim? I’ve been thinking and I can’t decide myself, on one hand she clearly hates the idea of people being victims or helpless, and constantly reframes the victims of the war as “necessary sacrifices” instead of, y’know, tragic causalities of a war she started. She plays up her sad backstory to try to get Byleth to join with her in WC, but then she does all these things to concentrate as much power as possible on herself. On the other (other) hand, she pushes the culpability of the war on everyone except herself, and has trouble taking accountability. She’s obsessed with controlling everything but she doesn’t want to be blamed for the problems she’s created. What do you think?
Oh!
(sorry for replying one literal month later lol)
I find Supreme Leader hard to write because of this, but in a way, I believe that yes, she does.
However, for all the flak Faerghus gets for "ToXiC mAsCuLiNiTy" and "Chivalry BaD", there's something very toxic with the way some Adrestian victims (often women... blame the writers I guess?) deal with their abuse.
I'm not going to spend a lot of time on Doro because I already typed a lot about her, but while she still sees herself as a victim from what she endured and suffered in her childhood, she adopted the toxic mindset of "this suffering is a thing of the past and I grew from that/beyond that to become the person I am now" - which we can also see in Manu who suffered from, roughly, the same traumas.
Petra also follows this pattern, being a hostage and treated like shit, but she grow "beyond" her status of a victim to become the strong person she projects and believes she is - it's only out of House that she realises more accutely her status within the Empire, the reality of her situation and, in Houses, refuses vassalage to Adrestia to make her country independent without having to "ask the Emperor".
It's the same pattern : "I was a victim" but "I became strong" so "I am not a victim anymore, this is something of the past".
Applied to Supreme Leader...
Well, trying to ignore the Agarthans and her dad's own infuence on her character (which is kind of hard, since the games try their hardest to make Agarthans responsible for everything BaD and we're not clear on how much they had an influence on her), I think Supreme Leader believes she was a "victim" of abuse.
But - through further abuse and surviving said abuse - she became strong* enough to "not be a victim anymore".
Which is why her line of "if the weak remain weak it's their fault" feels like it echoes part of her mindset : she was a victim but became strong enough, maybe by hardening her own feelings to become "strong", so she is not the same helpless "victim" she once was.
If she managed to do that, then everyone can do the same.
As for the "necessary sacrifices", since early 2019 someone theorised that "the people" she pretends the fight for as seen as some general "concept", much like the "greater good". So if some people are sacrificed, it's for her ideals - the goal and aim of her newfound strength - , and it piles on her drive, she must realise them otherwise those people would have died (and she would have suffered) for nothing.
However, despite acknowledging her past self as a victim, and because she's now "strong", she's not above using her past trauma (but actually, still present! Remember the rat scene?) to reach her goals, because, at her core, Supreme Leader is soemone who is very determined. Maybe it's her only drive to grow beyond the trauma, or her own illusions, or a mix of everything, but AM made it clear, Supreme Leader is not above, well, using herself if it means seeing her goals come to fruition : unlike Lobotogard from AG, AM!Supreme Leader willingly transforms in Hegemongard.
This is the cost she's willing to pay, so while the memes about Lord Farqaad were on spot, I still think that Supreme Leader is ultimately willing to sacrifice** herself for her goal (but only when there's no other way to ensure her future will come to fruition, and in a way, I guess she thought she would survive the Hegemon transformation, jury's out on what she meant to do in AM's finale, but imo, she still tried, even beaten and battered as she was, to claim Dimi's head).
Ultimately I think everything's a bit muddled by the fact that, as @fantasyinvader pointed out, Supreme Leader is a liar and knows the importance of maintening good PR.
She lies and manipulates the truth to reach her goals (which again, is a red flag when CF claims to want to restore the "distorted history" of Fodlan!) and for all the flak I give them, the devs managed to scrap enough material to give us a peek in Adrestia's mindset (or at least its top nobles), they're not people who self reflect, they are salty because they aren't ruling the world anymore, and they feel like they are better than the rest of Fodlan.
Put everything in the mixer, and you indeed have Supreme Leader (but also her court, especially Ferdie in SB who dares to say, as he is invading and trouncing people who don't really like and accept the idea of being invaded, that the fear those people feel are only in their mind, or something like that? Like, dude, you're rolling over their people and country, of course they'll fear and hate you!) giving her weird rhetoric lines (why are people opposing me if they are going to die?), victim blaming (something Treehouse swallowed like honey, if their lolcalisation is anything to go by, remember, it's Rhea's fault for not offering her head on a platter that is the reason why the War continues in CF!) and so on.
IDK if the devs wanted to bank that much on the Dany parallel with her "if I look back i am lost", but again, I don't know if her drive to make a "better Fodlan" is motivated by her trauma, Adrestian revanchism, Ionius telling her dumb things or Agarthans agarthaning, but her goal and vision are everything to Supreme Leader.
So she will do anythign to see them realised, even if it means sacrificing her people, starting a war, tweaking "the truth" or using her own trauma to motivate and recruit powerful people who might assist her with her goals.
To reply to your question, IMO she sees herself as someone who had once been a victim, but won't let that stop her from reaching her goals, even if it means creating thousands of "hers" in the process, because, in her mind, reaching her goal is more important than anything else.
*I know, she refutes Dimitri's claim that she is "strong" or laughs at it, but imo, it was more in the sense of "I was weak and became strong" so everyone can "become" strong.
**I don't think she wanted to throw away her life, but more something in the lines of "putting my life on the line" or sacrificing her precious (and to see how precious it is, just play CF lol) humanity.
#mgphotogirl#replies#the way the games are written no one truly holds her accountable for the war and the WC events#the parley scene tries but then it forgets everything to talk about visions and whatnot#without even going in the 'your allies framed Dedue's people for something they never did and you are using demonic beast for fuck's sake'#territory like seriously it's so mild#Being in an UO mindset now I'm still baffled at how Alain at least delivers some venom and hatred to the guy who#trampled over the continent and doesn't deserve to him to be called its king#even if he puts his hatred aside to purify and offer him salvation#but in Fodlan? there's no hatred or feelings about the war or the WC events#I mean you could believe they're arguing about what dish should be cooked for a birthday#or they're in a heated philosophy class#This verse's pathological need to make sure she's never held accountable for her actions#bled in FEH and in even in FE17 :(#Imo Supreme Leader could have been a fascinating character#if only they dialed back on the uwu and teasets prospects#and i say that not only because we would still have fans going all 'arvis did nothing wrong as he cooked his younger brother on a low flame#for Supreme Leader but because the 'driven by their convictions to the point of abandoning why they wanted to do X in the first place'#for a female character in the FE franchise would really have been progressive in the 'yes women too can be red emperors'#fodlan nonsense#tbh going from Hegemongard in AM to AG's Lobotogard really hurts#but as a certain youtuber said#Lobotogard was designed with a certain bait in mind#and I'm pretty sure it was the only way to get some unconclusive 'everyone survives ending' without slaughtering Dimi or Supreme Leader#characters at least

He does not react, because he knows that this is one of the possible directions this conversation could go. He does not smile. He does not nod his head. And he does not placate.
"Indeed, I often wonder about the friends and families of those who suffered losses during those years. What considerable acts of violence that they had to face," he sighs, and brushes a strand of hair back behind his ear. His words are somber, held with remorse. It is not false, though he does not expect her to believe him.
"When a nation is subjugated and invaded by surrounding ones, there are so many issues that come about for its people. Innocent ones, those who did not choose their leaders and did not choose their path in life. Ones who did not volunteer for war. Farmers, merchants, wives, husbands. Children separated, as you've seen within the rebellions in Isaach... or perhaps you mean to reference the conflict in Verdane?"
His eyes are on hers. They do not shift, they do not falter. They are not judgmental, and yet they do not yield. What sort of world is it that the life of one outnumbers the lives of thousands? What arrogance must one have in order to feel that their friends are more important than the classes that support them? To say that the lives of those who work for their living, are not born within their class, are worth less than those of noble birth?
That is a despicable notion. He hopes she does not believe this.
"But surely not, because invading Verdane was an act of self preservation. One that many could understand and accept, which means that the cause -- that is, to aid an ally in her time of need -- justifies the violence against a people, no? My, that would not have happened, however, if there weren't people missing from their homelands. Do remind me, Lady Edain, what was Lord Byron doing in Isaac during that time?"
He crosses his arms. The room feels colder, somehow, but he does not shiver. "That was a liberation movement, was it not? I'd forgotten the exact phrasing used in this case, to justify the invasions. Please do correct me if I am misusing the carefully curated political phrases. That simply would not do."
Ah, but there is the irony: he wonders, did Lady Edain weep when Aida betrayed Reptor? Did she weep for his children? Did she shed tears for those lost in the Isaachian conflict? Did she cry for the downtrodden, those subjugated by the will of those who garnered more power than them?
Or does she only care for those who remain in front of her?
"I must apologize for when I invaded Augustria, a country that did not need my assistance," he continues. His voice is ice. He still does not falter in his expression, but his words are clear. "I should never have invaded the both of them, Augustria and Verdane, namely, in order to help my beloved friends. Two people's lives are not worth those that were lost. I cannot imagine the people that have suffered, the loved ones separated, and the orphans made. Or rather..."
He pauses. Looks at her. Lets there be a beat between them. He does not smile. He does not blink.
"That was not me, was it? Hm. Peculiar."

I have two kids and they're both so unhinged
My dog set my kitchen on fire one time
I used to have a hatman irl but he was actually the Carrot Man and he looked like the peanut butter jelly time banana except a carrot and he was a friendly sleep paralysis demon and sometimes I miss him
How did you get into Fire Emblem? I went to GameStop and was looking at the used games and I guess Awakening caught my eye.
What Fire Emblem games have you played? Genealogy, blazing blade, scared stones, some of por, sov, awakening, fates, 3h, engage. I've at least read through all of them except the tellius games. I should get on them.
First & Favorite Fire Emblem games: first was Awakening, favorite to play is fe7
List your 5 favorite Fire Emblem characters across the series! Arvis, Travant, Finn, I really love Raphael maybe him, uhh this is hard to pick maybe Oifey. You could ask me this question tomorrow and I'll probably have a different answer
Who was the first character ever to make you go “ooh I like this one in particular” and why? Can be any context and reason! Frederick because I knew I was in love with him the moment I saw his face but Cynthia in a regular context
Any Fire Emblem crushes? 😳 You know this you know it's Arvis and Travant but I do keep thinking about Raydrick recently. Wtf is wrong with me.
If you’ve played (or are familiar with) the following games, who was your first S support? Who would you S support nowadays?
- Awakening: Frederick but I'd like to to a Priam romance someday
- Fates: I think it was Hinata but I honestly do not remember. Now idk! I don't think I've ever done the same s support twice in fates

Do you have characters or types of characters you don’t think you can handle writing, but wish you could? I think it would be cool to write Manuela one day but I am convinced I would be terrible at it, also any male character. For some reason I have a mental block against them and I'm not entirely sure why this is
What kind of scenes, situations etc do you believe you enjoy writing the most? (If you filled this out last year, has this changed in any way?) I like writing dialogue! Love a good reunion also.
Do you have any scenario in mind for your muse(s) that gets you thinking “man I hope I get to write this one day”? I would literally do anything to write with an Arion.

every so often I’m reminded of how much i hate that at least semi-serious “arvis did nothing wrong” video that decided to pin his many wrongs (along with manfroy’s for good measure) onto cigyun. so everything bad that happens is the fault of a woman choosing to exercise some agency over her life and sexuality instead of just doing what she was told. wow how novel and insightful. if only that sinful woman hadn’t dared to escape confinement or seek some joy with someone other than her violent abusive husband. clearly she was just stupid and immoral unlike our poor men who had no alternative but to do what they did.
#literally i am an arvis lover this take is not only misogynistic garbage it’s also a really boring take you could have about him#the entire thing that makes him interesting is the moral conflict… the desire to do good vs selfishness and cowardice#and you want to flatten all that into ‘he had no choice!!!1!!’#boring and inane#fire emblem#fe4#and the manfroy part of it is literally ‘well he wouldn’t have had the opportunity to manipulate her children if she hadn’t given birth’#that is ‘must you continue to reconquer’ tier victim blaming#opinions no one asked for

My Top 10 Favorite Fire Emblem Characters
Number 1. Edelgard Von Hresvelg - I would repeat several points about why her fans like her, and also explain just how in the wrong she is, but there’s a simpler way to explain why I love Edelgard. She’s the best take on the Rudolf Archetype in the entire series. She’s calculated, arrogant, and self-righteous, yet she’s also very charming, likable, and had a good end goal that can resonate with some people, despite the way she intended to go about it. Her character basically mixes the best aspects of the Rudolf Archetype, and places them into a single character, without making her seem unoriginal. Overall, Edelgard is the most well done villain the series has ever had. Long live the Flame Emperor!
Number 2. Ashnard - King Ashnard of Daein was truly a Mad King. Throughout Path of Radiance, he’s mostly in his hideout, but he’s authorized so many warcrimes, the carnage he causes is told to Ike and the mercenaries, his soldiers both fear and respect him, every time we DID see him talking with his men it became clearer how deranged he is, and overall he was a well built up final boss with a GIGANTIC BLOODLUST. However the best thing about him is that while he’s this hammy psycho on the surface, underneath that expressive exterior is a clever asshole of a man with a darwinist ideology. Ashnard believes that only the strong can thrive in life, and hates the caste systems in other countries because it grants positions of power to people he deems as “unworthy.” In his eyes, if you want to increase your status, you need to fight tooth to nail and prove that you’re strong. Hell, he wasn’t even upset at the notion of dying because in his eyes, if he dies it means that he was overpowered or that he slipped up. HELL WHEN HE DOES DIE HE IS JUST LAUGHING, BEGGING THE PARTY TO CONTINUE THE FIGHT, AND SPEWING SOME BULLSHIT ABOUT AN ASCENSION! So yeah, this guy is not called the Mad King for nothing.
Number 3. Arvis - The best way to describe Arvis is a “Male Prototype Edelgard”, however the difference between them is clear. Despite also being a morally ambiguous figure dubbed “The Flame Emperor,” Arvis was the BASTARD that got what he wanted, until karma hit him like a truck when he got backstabbed by the Gharnef of his game, and his own son a few years later. I could go into more detail about this guy, like how he killed the first protagonist of the game and married his girlfriend not long after, but Geneology of The Holy War is a long ass game, and there is a LOT to say about this guy. Also he’s the first Rudolf that relies on magic rather than swords, axes, spears, and armor. So yeah, Arvis is dope.
Number 4. Lyon - To think that a member of the Gharneff Archetype is the most tragic villain in the series. The man tried to bring back his dad with dark magic, and immediately got taken over by the demon king, Fomortiis. This alone doesn’t just make him good, because Lyon isn’t just possessed, every single one of his traits ended up becoming twisted, and hidden feelings were put on full display in the WORST ways possible, and at the end of the game, he becomes nothing but a souless puppet for Fomortis to use. The way he’s written is similar to how Sephiroth was written in Crisis Core, except more pittiful, which helps hammer in exactly what kind of man and villain Lyon is. Overall Lyon is a walking mess of a human being that ended up becoming a hollow shell of a man controlled by the Demon King.
Number 5. Berkut - Edelgard would HATE this guy. Berkut was the embodiment of pride, entitlement, and insecurity. He was Emperor Rudolf’s nephew, one of the most skilled combatants in Rigel at such a young age, and had a very cool and nice fiancé named Rinea. So what happened? He got his ass beat by a farmboy named Alm, who also happened to be Rudolf’s son, and after that an entire domino effect happened, which resulted in Berkut falling into despair. Then in his moment of despair, the God of Strength and Father of Rigel, Duma, whispered into his ear, and Rinea began trying to cheer up Berkut at the EXACT moment that he was going nuts, which resulted in the bastard sacrificing his fiancé for the sake of power. And after all of that he is finally killed by Alm. Well, at least he’s Dancing In Purgatory now. As much as I love how Rudolf was done in Shadows of Valentia, Berkut was its breakout character for a reason. His slow degradation from this arrogant prick with big shoes to fill and some semblance of a heart, to a deranged madman that only lusts for power was done pretty well.
Number 6. The Black Knight, Zelgius - The Black Knight, Zelgius, is just great and is truly deserving of his own archetype. Between his design, his warrior mentality, his boss music, his dynamic with Ike, his simple and effective backstory, his connection to both of main villains of the Tellius Games, and overall just the sheer amount of menace and the FEAR factor he brings to the table everytime he’s on the map. However I do like his characterization in Path of Radiance characterization more than his Radiant Dawn characterization, mostly because I REALLY like how Path of Radiance introduces him as both an near-invincible threat and a very personal villain for Ike to face. The Black Knight may be a simple villain clad in black armor, but he’s still one of the best villains this series has produced.
Number 7. Camus/Zeke - The Camus Archetype is a character archetype in Fire Emblem reserved for knights who are loyal to their country and master, despite being admirable men and cool guys. A bad member of this archetype would ignore all reason and remain loyal to their country and master, despite being aware their a piece of shit, but the best members actually do realize the situation they’re in and do whatever they can to stop their former master. However no matter how many members of this archetype come into existence, there is only one General Camus of Grust. Or Zeke, if you’ve played Shadows of Valentia.
Number 8. Rhea/Serios - She is a genocide survivor, she’s got PTSD, she has mommy issues, she’s the most characterized “evil dragon person,” and so on. Overall what Rhea is to the Medeus Archetype is what Edelgard is to the Rudolf Archetype.
Number 9. Nergal - This guy is the only member of the Gharnef archetype I respect, that isn’t Lyon. On the surface Nergal looks like this generic madman who feeds off of life energy and wants to release dragons, but when you replay the game on Hector’s route, you soon see that his madness was the byproduct of being corrupted by dark magic, which he was researching in an attempt to find a way to get free half-dragon kids, Ninian and Nils. Still, when he did get corrupted, he became one of the series’s biggest bastards of all time. Overall, Nergal is genuinely underrated as a villain and character.
Number 10. Zephiel - Zephiel had no grand plan to change humanity for the better, or a plan to conquer the world and make it a hellscape. He just wanted to wipe out humanity and lend the world to the dragons. So basically he was a nihilist, but in the FE6 manga and FE7, we see that he started out as a kind boy that grew into a man worthy of being a king, so what happened to him? Well his jealous father, who had sent assassin’s to kill him in the past, tried to poison him, and was unsuccessful in doing so. Jesus, talk about mixing irredeemability with tragedy. Also props to him for being a consistent threat, despite not appearing often in game, not to mention he’s got one of the best attack animations in the series. Doesn’t matter if you love or hate him, you gotta respect the King of Bern.

Favorite Class: Archer/Sniper. And I don't mean the hella broken Switch-game archers, nah; I don't even like Neimi but she always had a place on my team because I need that 2 range chip damage.
Favorite Underrated Character: You'd expect me to say Gunter, but most FE fans who don't despise everything about Fates on principal acknowledge that he's a good character, if not just as underdeveloped in Rev as everything else. No, the real answer to this question is Frey. Oh you don't know who Frey is? Of course you don't- no one does. I'm literally this man's only fan. Frey was added to the FE1 remake, and is literally the most important character in Marth's story because he is the reason Marth is alive. When Marth was 14 and Gra invaded after killing his father, he had to escape with a handful of knights... except he couldn't because they caught up to him. Frey dressed as Marth to lure the approaching enemy soldiers away to buy his prince time to escape (it's literally the scene depicted in his Cipher card), resulting in him being beaten so badly it gave him amnesia and a permanant disability, while being left for dead. And New Mystery reveals that this isn't some Shrödinger's plot point- it's canon! This poor, selfless man lost his life to save his prince and doesn't get so much as a passing thought from any of the characters who know his sacrifice full well in Heroes, but that treasonous turncoat Abel gets lauded in the history books? "The Panther"? Bitch, you should only be known as "The Traitor"!
Hot Take: Aside from "fuck Abel", back in the day, I was one of the only people I saw in the FE community calling SoV out as the trash game it was. Putting aside how godawful the maps were, the writing in that game was ass and reeked of inceldom, Gray and Berkut are two of the most loathesome characters in the series as far as I'm concerned (and yes, I'm putting them up there with Arvis- they deserve it), and Alm is more of a Mary Sue power fantasy than Corrin could ever dream of being. But as voice acting has become the norm, it seems that the novelty has worn off and more people are starting to see the idiocy for what it is. So here's my hot take for the newer generation:
*ahem*
Bernadetta is the most overrated character in Three Houses, and Gilbert/Gustave is the most overhated. Bernadetta is just Fluttershy for people who are afraid of being called furries/Bronies, except less charming and honestly, less cute. Her design has never appealed to me, I find her insufferable and I never feel bad when Edelgard torches the balista she's standing on. "But she has such a tragic backstory--!" It's Fire Emblem; so does literally every single character in the fucking franchise! You can count the characters who aren't barely held together piles of trauma and neuroses on one hand. Which leads nicely into Gilbert.
Y'all hypocritical motherfuckers looove tragic backstories, and talking about "flawed" characters until the person you're suposed to be sympathizing with isn't a conventionally attractive teenager. "He abandoned his daughter--!" He was dealing with PTSD and the worst survivor's guilt you can imagine! This man's guilt is so strong he's convinced himself that he doesn't deserve to ever smile again because the dead people he failed to save will never smile again. And still, he knows what he did to his family was wrong, he's ashamed of himself and his actions, but he's also terrified of facing the consequences of his impulsive actions. Like a person would be. God forbid a parent in media be portrayed as human, with human flaws and weaknesses. I genuinely wonder what the overlap of Gilbert haters with "Emperor I'm Literally Going To Erradicate An Entire Race Of People did nothing wrong" stans and "King Kill Every Last One Of Them is just a sad boi" simps is...
Fire Emblem tag game!
Reblog this post and add in the tags~
Your favourite class
Your favourite underrated character
And an opinion that would get you burnt alive in a such a way that people would make barbecue jokes about you for the rest of time.
#fire emblem#don't get me wrong- I love Dimitri and... like Edelgard's role in the story#but the shit they did is infinitely worse than Gilbert's transgressions#and I get it- and asshole is worse than a monster#but he's not an asshole? he's a genuinely sweet man who wants to make amends#the real moral is “bad things are only bad if they happen to attractive named characters”

what's your ultimate "arvis did nothing wrong" moment?
That time he invited the lads and maidens into his bash
Of course, Azelle wasn’t invited as usual but in his journeys with Lord Sigurd, he realized he needed to be more assertive and realize he wasn’t going to take no from his big brother
The rest you probably already know

Do you believe it would have been better for the state of the fandom if CF had ditched any attempts at subtlety and just made it clear and undeniable that it was a villain route?
I don't doubt there'd have been people trying to argue against it even then (Arvis was a hero who did nothing wrong interpretations of FE4's story come to mind), but it'd have significantly reduced how widespread the Edelgard wank would have been; the Fódlan stories themselves would also have been significantly improved if they didn't need to treat Edelgard with kids' gloves at every opportunity, so it'd even work as a 2-for-1 in making the Fódlan games better.
Hahaha,
Talking with a friend and musing about this verse - Fe Fodlan has always been about "uwu or not uwu" regarding the Red Emperor, and you can't sell Ashnard slapping his ass (I'd buy it) or Walmart in a nightgown (I wouldn't buy it) in heroes or in Cipher.
That's the, say, spinal cord of the Fodlan Verse, at least, how it was developed by the devs.
So to sell this merch, but also, with the usual brand of sexism and "women can't be BaD", we end up with... a route where you side with Supreme Leader that is extremely white-washed (no angry civilian/random asking for reparations! When Dimitri deals with Flèche!), Rhea roasts babies and they both lose because the plot commanded them to.
To be honest, after taking into account the rest of the game(s) I'm still surprised Tru Piss has so many red flags and clues and general enemy lines showcasing how this route is, well, the one that ends up with deadeyesfish!Billy.
Sure SS was supposed to be the Billy Route, but since Rhea BaD and Church BaD (as you are hammered every time!) it makes Supreme Leader not so BaD - and with Rhea (and the BL!) being a scapegoat to sell Supreme Leader as she was intended, I don't think any amount of subtletly would have saved, not Tru Piss, but the fandom who swallows everything Tru Piss says.
In a way, Tru Piss suffers from two opposites directions, make a villain route - as to not shoot the lore/worldbuilding (SS) - but also, remember to make Supreme Leader sellable. So it couldn't be a villain route, and they tried to fit every mention of it being a "shouldn't have picked that" route in the lore/background/other convos, so they got their cake and ate it.
But yep, Fodlan verse wouldn't be Fodlan verse if Supreme Leader was treated like Ashnard, because Supreme Leader and her "uwu betrayal" were at the core of the Fodlan verse.
Nopes dropped the "betrayal" aspect, but still, she's not supposed to be the clear cut villain - even if her actions, and the world building, and the genocidal death cult she works with say the contrary - so her enemies will be demonified (Dimitri kills people! omg so bad! - and Nopes ends with somehow everyone agreeing to kill Rhea on the Zahras chapters).
Many people already tried to explain why the fandom wank took as it did regarding Supreme Leader - but imo that's what the devs gunned for.
It's no wonder why in the next game, Sombron doesn't sing a jpop song and you can't side with him (willingly!), or why the people turned into zombies aren't sidelined and ignored like Baldo'n'Waldi - we returned to a tradition non wank state where selling alts, cards and tea bags isn't more important than telling a story, regardless of what you think of said story.
Of course we have funny people pushing a Lumera BaD narrative, but it's not to defend of absolve Sombron of any wrongdoing or to treat him with gloves, somehow, it's still used to defend Supreme Leader (that's why those people are funny!).
#anon#replies#idk it i was clear#but imo the fodlan games were developed with the clear you can't make Supreme Leader BaD#even when it crashes against the background and story you just can't#1+1 = sandwich equation#I'd say Supreme Leader but in a way#it also applies to Claude - who raises more bonkers Church BaD points#and since Church must be BaD to sell Tea Claude also misses the Wyvern in the room#no wonder why in Nopes the devs just said eff it and grouped the two

Duke Arvis arrives and Finn is not sure if for lack of recognition of therof, but nothing happens immediately. He chooses not to broach the subject. After all, the head he really wants is Travant's. Not that Finn is a particularly vengeful person, but, at this moment he does not find the man to be the subject of his ire.
It did not matter anyway. There was a spear-throwing competition. He was here to be done with it. However, the subject did occur to him, that if the monastery housed villains such as Duke Arvis, then perhaps there were others...
Past the area they are in, students are frolicking happily, looking for a chance to get noticed. Finn can remember a time, many years ago, when that was what he yearned for. How truly happy he was when Lord Quan noticed him, and how his devotion and loyalty were all he thought of.
Well, it didn't matter anymore. Not now anyways.
Apparently, from the Duke's words, he was an instructor. Worrisome, yet Finn felt no need to meddle. It was not as if someone he cared for was in trouble.
"Very well," Finn responds. "Are you familiar with the correct spear-throwing postures, as well as adequate sizing and speed?"
"The young ones need to learn to go slower and learn from their mistakes. There is nothing wrong with progress through error, in my opinion."

Beloved One: Why I Love Fire Emblem: Genealogy of the Holy War (Part 1)
Arvis, Travant, and Manfroy are the true heroes of Fire Emblem 4 and if you disagree you support systematic oppressions and poverty.
NOTE: This article essay will contain spoilers for the video game Fire Emblem: Genealogy of the Holy War. If you are planning to play this game in the future then I HIGHLY recommend going in blind. Also, for you weirdo cornball hardcore Genealogy of the Holy War fans: For the most part, I’ll be using the modern fan translation names for characters, items, and locations. For in-game quotes,…

Arvis watches Deirdre and Sigurd's embrace. He notes, oddly, how it does not feel like the loss of something; rather it feels like he lacks in some way that only Sigurd can make up for.
He wonders, then, if when Deirdre touches Arvis, if Sigurd thinks the same. He will try not to harbor on it, try not to think too hard about the situation and to make it unpleasant for anyone involved. There is no point to that.
He shakes Sigurd's hand and gives him a polite smile. Of course, the imperfection on the car is the first thing he notices, which makes Arvis wince a little. The pothole he had hit indeed has done some damage to the car, but there is no malice in Sigurd's words. Perhaps he is actually trying to be friendly.
He will return the energy given, then.
"Unfortunately, I did," he says, and kneels down beside Sigurd as if he would ever be able to determine what was wrong with his car. He knows nothing about it. Probably ends up overpaying on basic maintenance of it, if he's completely realistic with himself. "We nearly hit a deer. We didn't, however, I was quick enough to avoid it."
He stood and went over to the driver's side, reaching down to open the hood. He looks at Sigurd through the windshield and furrows his brows. "Are you well versed in car care, then? That's... impressive."
The first compliment. Lukewarm, but a compliment nonetheless.
