I was analysing the arudha and upapada lagna of myself, my friends and other people and I feel like arudha lagna is definitely what people think about you whereas your ascendant is how you really are. My mom's ascendant is pisces but her arudha lagna is in Scorpio and has sun in it, and people always see her as a very private person, dominating, serious, strong, secretive, sort of detached type of a person and a leader, but people who are very close to her know that she's a total softie.

I'll definitely create a post on it and also the upapada lagna, since I've found enough evidence to prove it's reliability.

How to calculate arudha lagna:

1) find your ascendant lord:

If first house is in Aries, then mars is the ascendant lord, then,

Speculating Ascendant Nakshatra

Someone who has recently caught my attention is Anita Pallenberg. I’ve been intrigued by her looks, films, and what I’ve read about her life. However, since her birth time isn’t available, I decided to investigate it myself. Based on my observations, I think she has a Mrigashira ascendant.

With a Mrigashira ascendant in ♉︎, Anita Pallenberg’s Atmakaraka would be her Moon in Jyeshtha in the 7th house. This placement makes sense because Anita was a major socialite, and her romantic relationships always seemed to have a deep emotional impact on her—just as she affected her partners in return. A 7th house Moon suggests someone who finds comfort in relationships and struggles with being alone. Their partnerships often serve as a driving force in their life and significantly impact their overall well-being. When Anita faced relationship problems, she became quite volatile, which aligns with this placement. Her Lagnesh is Venus in Shatabhisha 10th house, which is interesting because I initially speculated she might have a Shatabhisha ascendant due to her resemblance to Mia Goth, a Shatabhisha ☽. Anita’s Venus is conjunct Brian Jones’ Shatabhisha ☉, creating a strong synastry connection. Since Venus governs sensual pleasures, art, and beauty, it makes sense that Anita was a muse to Brian Jones, heavily influencing his fashion and aesthetic. Her Arudha Lagna would be her ☊ in Purva Phalguni.

Having a ♌︎ AL aligns perfectly with her public image as an iconic “It Girl” and muse. She was widely known for her creativity and alluring presence, and Rahu in Leo enhances fame. Purva Phalguni, symbolized by a bed (representing pleasure and prosperity), is also fitting—there are countless images of Anita reclining on beds, hammocks, or pallets. Another interesting detail is that her two most famous relationships were with Purva Phalguni men Brian Jones (Purva Phalguni↑ ) and Keith Richards (Purva Phalguni ☽)

Anita Pallenberg has a notable resemblance to Mrigashira ☽ natives Parker Posey

She shares a similar smile to Mrigashira ☽ Rachel McAdams both have those cheek dimples that elongated which are seen in mrigashira natives.

(Anita also has a gummy smile which can also been seen in Mrigashira natives like its trine nakshatra Chitra!)

If Anita Pallenberg had a Mrigashira ascendant in ♊︎, her Moon would actually be in the 8th house in Jyeshtha, which significantly alters the interpretation. A Moon in the 8th house can indicate someone deeply drawn to the occult, mysticism, and hidden knowledge, as well as someone with an intense, magnetic, and secretive aura. This placement aligns with Anita’s reputation for being mysterious, sexually alluring, and spiritually drawn to the darker side of life. Many people have claimed that Anita practiced dark magic and was highly interested in witchcraft, which fits well with an 8th house Moon in Jyeshtha—a nakshatra associated with power, secrecy, and esoteric wisdom. However, with a Gemini ascendant, her Arudha Lagna would fall in Virgo, and I don’t see that fitting her overall public image. Virgo AL tends to give a more practical, analytical, and modest public perception, whereas Anita was known for being a bold, rebellious, and sensual muse. That’s why I lean more toward Taurus rashi (Mrigashira ascendant in ♉︎), which gives her a Leo Arudha Lagna—a much better fit for her as a famous, charismatic It-Girl and muse. So while a Gemini ascendant with an 8th house Moon could explain her occult interests, I still believe Taurus ascendant makes more sense overall based on her public image, relationships, and artistic influence.

Anita was quite androgynous, a trait often found in Mrigashira natives. She was known for her androgynous style, frequently dressing and cutting her hair similarly to her boyfriend, Brian Jones. Mrigashira carries both masculine and feminine energies, as its ruling deities are Chandra (the Moon) and Parvati. In Vedic texts, Chandra is depicted as a male deity, while Parvati is the feminine counterpart of Shiva, symbolizing the duality and fluidity of Mrigashira’s nature.

Anita loved to travel and explore; she was very curious and free-spirited. She spoke seven languages and enjoyed indulging in and experiencing different cultures, which aligns with Mrigashira’s naturally curious and active nature. She formed connections with various artists across cultures, reflecting Mrigashira natives’ urge to pursue activities, engage in conversations, and analyze people’s interests, pasts, and new information. Anita is best known for her fashion and its lasting influence. Her style was quite different from what most women were wearing in the ‘60s, and she directly influenced The Rolling Stones’ image and fashion. When it comes to fashion trendsetters and influential “It Girls,” I’ve noticed they often have Mercury or Mars nakshatra placements. Regarding intimacy, Anita was attracted to both men and women. She cheated on Brian Jones with his bandmate Keith Richards and later slept with Mick Jagger, another bandmate. Just in D1? Nope, also in D9 (Navamsa) and D10 (Dasamsa)

Venus specifically in Magha Nakshatra which is in Leo and/or in 5th house are big fame indicators, and even more so for those interested or working in the entertainment world.

Any of these two planets in the 7th or 10th will amplify your control over the masses. Venus does it through charm and grace, whereas Rahu does it through being cunning and innovative.

Extra:

Arudha Lagna (AL) has also been mentioned by him in other fame related videos. This point shows your social status, how you appear to others, possibility of fame, illusory perception of the self from others.

He mentioned that if AL has any planet present in its 1st, 7th from itself or possibly even 10th from itself, then during the MD/AD period of any of those planets (emphasis on 1st/7th axis planets in AL chart) it will “explode” the fame of the native. You will become known for whatever the trait of those planets have even after death. This could be for good or for bad depending on the strength of the planet (by sign or aspects).

AL conjunct Moon, so basically your AL sign matching your Moon sign also signifies popularity as well! Affliction from 7H could impact it but it will be there nonetheless.

Bertrand Russell's chart:

1) Atmakaraka Saturn is Vargottama, so Atmakaraka is placed in Karakamsa Lagna.

2) Ascendant Lord Venus conjuncts 9th lord Mercury in the 7th house and aspects Ascendant, which gives Rajayoga.

3) Moon sign lord Mercury conjunct Ascendant lord Venus.

4) Jupiter is exalted in the AruDha Lagna which is 10th house from Ascendant too.

In western astrology, Meghan is supposed to be undergoing a favorable Jupiter transit over her midheaven. Is this still true for her according to sidereal/vedic placements? Thanks.

Harry's Wife will have Jupiter move into her 10th house from her lagna/ascendant, starting in April; however, when Jupiter changes signs, it will also end up being 8th from her natal Moon, which isn't as favorable.

Additionally, if you consider Jupiter moving into (sidereal) Aries in April from her Arudha Lagna, which is an ascendant used to evaluate how the public/other people see you, then it is a less favorable transit because she'll end up having big enemies & fights to battle.

I personally don't worry about it too much because she's running a difficult time period right now, (Vimshottari) Jupiter-Ketu. Jupiter's transit isn't the only thing I consider at the moment. She also is running a difficult Saturn transit, Ashtami Shani, which will only get more difficult over the next two years.

Leo is separation of zodiac sign ( as sun is individual planet) the planet resides in this sign will separate/ individualize planetary signification ( nadi astrology). Same with house when leo resides, it will individualize house signification

Your nakshatra of Darakaraka because dk represent spouse and partnership these nakshatra ruler will dominate your spouse chart. If connected to 7th or 7th lord itself can be confirmed

Easy way to determining marriage time when your chara MD/ AD sign ( KN Rao) are connected to DK and Upapada. Arudha Lagna: How To Find It - Part 1

The Arudha Lagna allows you to know how the world looks at you. It is the image that is totally made up by the Maya, the illusory world we live in. But how to find it? Indeed, it is not a simple question. Astrologers do not agree with each other on how to calculate it as they do not interpret the traditional texts the same. It is quite confusing, so let's sort it out… As much as I can at least. This post will be divided into three parts.

The Calculation Method Without The Exceptions

There is a way of calculating the Arudha Lagna that all astrologers will agree on. This is the method that excludes some astrological placements. Maybe you belong to these lucky ones whose Arudha Lagna will be accepted by all astrologers.

Here is the way to calculate it:

Identify your Lagna/Ascendant and your Ascendant/Lagna Lord.

Count how many houses away it is placed from Lagna to the Lagna Lord.

Then, count the same from Lagna Lord and you find your Arudha Lagna.

Ex: Take your D1 chart (usual birthchart). Your lagna is in Cancer. Your Lagna Lord is consequently the Moon. The Moon is in the 5th house. There are 5 houses between your Lagna and your Lagna Lord. So, you count 5 from the Moon and you find your Arudha Lagna there, in the 9th house.

The Usual Exceptions: House Placements

Most astrologers agree on this type of exceptions. This kind of exceptions deal with these Lagna Lords' house placements: Lagna Lord in 1st house, Lagna Lord in 4th house, Lagna Lord in 7th house, Lagna Lord in 10th house. If your Lagna Lord is placed in one of these houses from your Lagna, then, you should apply these rules:

If your Lagna Lord is in your 1st house: then, your Arudha Lagna becomes your 10th house.

If your Lagna Lord is in the 4th house: then, your Arudha Lagna remains in the 4th house.

If your Lagna Lord is in the 7th house: then, your Arudha Lagna becomes your 10th house.

If your Lagna Lord is in your 10th house: then, your Arudha Lagna will become your 4th house.

We read from many of our beloved scriptures how 2nd lord in 11th can be a good thing... or is it?

People thing the 11th house is where you actual money is but thats incorrect. The 11th house is the bare salary that you get from working or doing any artha karma. The actual money that you have in the bank or at least the net worth is your 2nd house.

Now how do we decode this?

The 2nd house is what sustains you. You need money to sustain you . The 11th house is your salary but what people do not know is that 11th house is our daily expenses whereas the 12th is our severe bodily expenses...

The 11th house is your income however its 10th from the 2nd. The 2nd being the actual wealth and worth of yourself as it sustains the lagna, the 10th from it meaning karma done with it. The 11th house is the karma done with all of your money. You cannot do karma with money by displacing it from 1 draw to another in your house. You can only do karma with money by buying, selling, working and gaining

Hence, the 11th house is not only gain, its also loss as well. It perfectly describes Rahu Shani rulership of Kumbha as per Kaal purusha chart

Rahu shows the desire to obtain things of great value. He exalts in Taurus in the 2nd. Hence 11th lord in 2nd irrespective of the lagna will have the person investing their money into something. What they invest into can be seen from Arudha lagna.

11th house is also 6th from the 6th. 11th house also shows chronic diseases and allergens as per medical astrology. Hence flu's and sicknesses type of expenditure falls here. This is the daily issues we have and a common part of life hence its a daily expenditure

Now some will argue what is the 12th house for. The 12th house is behind the lagna. It is the health of your body. Also 12th house is believed to the the lagna when your body was conceived and the strength of the 12th determines your immunitive ability. 12th house is also hospitalization.

Therefore the 12th house shows Extreme expenditures, not daily ones and it makes sense too as we need to be able to seperate our daily expenditures with important ones in case of severe bodily injury

I desired to make this post after viewing 34 horoscopes of people who had 2nd lord in 11th with no other associations. This came to me as a surprise but then I asked them if they had any bad addictions and they said yes. This ties in with Jaimini's Sutra's stating that the 11th house is dangerous and is also a house of Mrtyu and works parallel with the 8th which also makes sense as they are 4-10 from each other.

These people had also stated that their family complains alot that they cannot save money and they constantly spend it all(This is like the complete inverse of 11th lord in 2nd)

Such people spend so much of money due to extremely strong desires as 11th is the highest kama house and hence they spend money like nothing. Also note that 11th house is a maraka to the 10th house... What you do with your gained money will make your karma not only with your family but can also show if you'd even be able to return to work

We need to be more practical and precise in jyotish. Because we are not doing this and we are not strengthening our basics, we are giving general predictions when it may not be so for the client at the current time

Now I know people are going to ask if 2nd lord in 11th means no wealth etc.

It is a Dhana placement hence I have noticed such people earn quite above the average person however they spend their money just as fast.

Lastly we see that if 11th is the raw income, the insurance and health care deductions happen in the 12th, then the remaining money represents the 2nd house. Then what we do with that money (karma) goes back to 11th house where we spend it, then we work and get an income again

Arudha Lagna: How To Find It - Part 3 -Signs' Battle and Shortcuts

The Signs' Strength Identification Procedure

Now, you have found out your case does not correspond to any of the previous conditions in Part 2 and Part 1: you need to check which sign is stronger than the other. Here are the rules with the same example (Scorpio Lagna) as before:

If Mars is in Scorpio or Aries, e.g, in its own sign, but not Ketu, then, Mars gets stronger.

But! 😱 If nor Mars, neither Ketu does not respect the above mentioned condition, and Mars is conjoined Jupiter and/or Mercury, then, Mars gets stronger than Ketu.

But!! 😱😱 If your case does not apply above again, then, check the signs: dual signs are stronger than the fixed signs which are stronger than the moveable signs. Ketu in Leo (fixed sign) becomes stronger than Mars in Libra (moveable sign).

But!!! 😱😱😱 If Mars and Ketu sit in the same category of sign, let's say, Mars sits in Libra while Ketu sits in Cancer. Libra and Cancer are both moveable signs. What to do? Well.....

The Shortcuts

I am far from being an extraordinary expert in astrology. I consider myself as an eternal student. Knowledge in astrology is so vast it is beyond our imagination. However, I can still give you a hint if you arrived to this last step without a clear answer, or, if it is just still confusing in your mind and you want a shortcut. You can download Jagannatha Hora software for free, on windows. You go to "Preferences", then "Related to Calculations", after that, you click on "Arudha Pada Calculation Options", then you choose "Use exceptions in bhava arudha padas" and "Use exceptions in graha arudha padas". Finally, you tick "Use Rahu and Ketu when stronger". And the software will find what planet is stronger than another, that is to say, if Ketu gets stronger than Mars in this example: it will directly show you the "right" Arudha Lagna. Or, you can download "Jyotish App" on your phone: you go to "Settings", then you click "Arudha Options", you select "Based on Rashi", you tick "Use exceptions in Bhava Arudha calculations" as well as "Consider Rahu and Ketu as lords of Kumbha and Vrishchika when they are stronger than Saturn and Mars". This app follows Dr B.V Raman's method here, so you can not go wrong.

Why Do All These Exceptions Matter?

You might wonder, why one has to follow all these tedious exceptions and conditions. Some astrologers just do not use most of the conditions mentioned above. For example, some will not apply the house placement exceptions, such as Lagna Lord being in the 1st house, then the arudha lagna will go to the 10th, instead, they will just use the 1st house as the Arudha Lagna. They all have their reasons that I respect. As for me, I would rather like to use Sanjay Rath Ji's view with all these exceptions because it respects the Brihat Parashara Hora Shastra's text and I trust his translation. I use the "Treatise on Jaimini Sutras" by Somanatha regarding the evaluation on the strength of planets and signs as it seems clearer to me. I might change my mind in the future but I stick to this method until now. This is just my choice. I encourage everyone to research on their own and form their own opinion through their experience. Hi Anon, the Arudha Lagna in Libra shows that the world perceives you as gentle, diplomatic, sensitive, caring but most importantly, artistic as it is in the 5th house. Fifth house is all about creation, creativity, art. But it is also about knowledge, mostly spiritual knowledge. Venus in Pisces enhances this artistic and/or spiritual aspect. Or that could be about speculation, gambling, investments. As Venus sits in the 10th house of career and public image, you might work once in these areas, anyway, your Arudha Lagna is strongly projected in the outer world. Bhrigu Bindu is the point of destiny and shows where you feel fulfilled. So, no matter what happens in your life, you will always be attracted to your Arudha Lagna, Libra, 5th house themes + Svati themes because your Bhrigu Bindu sits there. Svati is all about knowledge too, but also foreign travels. Your Venus is the 12th Lord too, so your Arudha Lagna shows there is something foreign about you (maybe you'll travel abroad? Or you have diverse cultural origins?). If the Arudha Lagna and/or Venus gets afflicted, it will deny these interpretations to some point.

I know Queen Elizabeth II may pass at any time. In little ways she is saying goodbye. I see that her loved ones understand. I don’t pay much attention to the daily antics of the Harkles. They are repugnant and are being called out by many. I did, however observe, how defiantly The Meg walked into the Intrepid awards. So brazen, self assured and atrociously ill mannered. Will she return to the UK? It seems that in some way, everything is falling apart. Doors seem to be starting to close. Of course, many never opened. Is this what her astrology shows? Thank you.

I don't think Megs will ever return to the UK unless she absolutely cannot avoid returning for whatever reason. 

This is Meghan’s (main) birth chart with her Jamini aspects placed in here. (Jaimini is a different system within Vedic astrology.) It does make the chart look quite messy. Anyhow, Jamini aspects are sign-based, not planet based. Its dasa (time period) system is sign based, rather than based on the planets.

The Moon, Mars, Saturn, and Jupiter placed in and aspect the mutable/dwishwabhava signs: Gemini, Virgo, Sagittarius, and Pisces. This is a fortunate combination for her because it gives Meghan a very good raja yoga via these signs--the lagna/ascendant ruler (Moon) with the 5th lord (Mars), Putra Karaka (Saturn), and 9th lord & great benefic Jupiter. Jupiter also aspects its own houses--Sagittarius & Pisces. 

If you read the chart in this way from Sagittarius, then Meghan has a raja yoga in the 4th (home), 7th (partner/marriage), and 10th (career/activities outside the home) houses. (Raja yogas are beneficial combinations.)

Meghan ran her Sagittarius (Chara) dasa (time period) from August 2012 to August 2021. This is when those raja yogas I mentioned were happening. Meghan is no longer running Sagittarius Chara dasa; she is now running Scorpio dasa, which does not have the raja yoga that the dwishwabhava signs contained.

I do think it’s interesting that the change happened this past August (2021). I suspect that is when things started changing for her behind the scenes regarding her lawsuit. It won’t get better because she’s not going to run a more favorable period than that Sagittarius dasa. Ever. 

Scorpio is where her Arudha lagna (ascendant) is. [Where there is a 1P with a pink circle around it.] This is a special kind of ascendant within Jamini. It still represents her as a person, even though it is in a different sign than her regular ascendant (Cancer). Her Dara Pada, which represents her 7th house (marriage) is in Taurus. [Pink circle around the 7P in Taurus.] 

As I noted on the graphic, there is a lunar eclipse happening in Taurus and a Solar eclipse happening in Scorpio. This will affect her 1st (self) and 7th (marriage) houses. I expect to see a big change in her marriage soon, particularly since Venus will go retrograde on 19 December until 29 January 2022. 

On a different note, Megs will run a very unfavorable period during her Scorpio-Aquarius dasa, which runs from 04 April 2026 to 03 November 2026. It will be unfavorable period because Aquarius is her 8th house, and she has adverse (Jamini) aspects to it. The adverse combination being her Gnati karaka (obstacles) [Mercury] and two malefics--Sun & Rahu--all aspecting Aquarius. 

It is a very unfavorable period. Just sayin’.
