Redo of boxes in 1pp. Horizon line and 8 guidelines for grid are drawn with a ruler. The rest is freehand. I still see a lot of issues, but I think it's a definite improvement.

Will I draw this again? Yes. But before that I'll do some personal art studies. Stay tuned for something more interesting!

ArtWod and Doodles

Another bunch of practise for ArtWod course and some doodles in the meantime.

For me it’s a huge step out of comfort zone as I am not used to draw so much. It’s a fight I wanted to give up several times already. But I was lucky enough to find a group of people who are practising drawing everyday as well. 

That keeps me on the track.

Week 4 / Finding Online Courses

This week I have still been prioritising preparing for job interviews. My final interview is next week, so hopefully I can draw some more afterwards.

This week I was away from home for a few days so deciding to find some videos I could follow online. As I was looking into value and composition last week, I wanted to have another go at understanding some concepts and rules. I found 3 Rules for Better Composition by Artwod which was super interesting and helpful.

The video speaks about rules of thirds of fifths, visual weight, and shape contrast. I found these rules extremely interesting because it something that I have noticed in artworks, but not been able to verbalise or take onboard before. Below is my sketchbook page when studying this video. I drew out the examples and noted down pieces I found important.

At the end of the page, I applied these new rules to the previous image I had drawn from last week- the Steven Universe laundry background. I'm not sure if it is correct, however I'm taking the small win of applying my learning. I genuinely love that I did this.

Starting off with a proper grind. I joined ArtWod and was going full speed ahead with the assignments to get into the more interesting stuff. I have some art friends who looked at these and gently guided me into doing a better job.

So I guess these are just my warmups to get used to traditional media and art fundamentals again. I'll be reworking these into proper assignments starting today. Wish me luck!
