What's "Artificial Sweetener?"
It's a Coffee Shop AU I've published on ao3! I forgot I haven't linked it here. 😅 It's kind of something I wanted to publish for a while but felt a bit shy to because it's more mature in themes.
I'm still writing ROF but those chapters take a lot of brain work and this story is a little easier to just type when I'm feeling stuck.
Here's the summary!
Poppy loves living in Locks Angeles with her big sister, Viva. They run a hole-in-the-wall musical coffee café together and it's been going strong for a couple of years. She was so glad she left Permsylvania to start a new life, everything has been great!
That was until a grey troll stumbled into the café and threw a curveball at her. She'd never met anyone quite like him; sure she'd seen grey trolls before, but never one that didnt seem to have any emotions at all.

Artificial Sweetener's Pitfalls (Sucralose)(chemistry-8)
Tumblr media
sucralose
Slat: a Japanese beverage. Ingredients: alcohol 3%, grapefruit juice, pulp, vegetable fiber (polydextrose), sugar (70% off), acidulant, flavoring, sweetener (acesulfame K, sucralose)
It contains substances that are quite unfamiliar. Acesulfame K, sucralose... No one will drink after reading this, but it's kind of creepy.
Acesulfame K is also a mystery, but Acesulfame K contains sulfur (S) in its cyclic structure and is quite a unique substance, and sucralose is an “organic chlorine compound”! ! This kind of chemical substances includes PCBs, dioxins, trihalomethanes, etc., and many of them have "carcinogenicity, mutagenicity, and teratogenicity" with a considerable probability.
An organic chlorine compound is a compound in which a chlorine atom (Cl) is directly bonded to a carbon atom (C), and it hardly exists in nature. There is only one case where a certain type of microorganism has produced an organochlorine compound, but this organism is reusing it "as an antibiotic". Organochlorines are the most toxic.
"Sucrose" means "sugar", but the name is somewhat confusing. The artificial sweeteners contained in this drink are 200 and 600 times sweeter than sugar, respectively, so these sweeteners are often mixed and used.
"Are you taking into consideration the metabolism in your body?" Aside from substances such as sugar that are absorbed by the body and confirmed until the end of metabolism, whether they are properly decomposed or not, whether the metabolites are safe, and if they are not metabolized, whether they remain in the body. Is it being discharged or are you doing research properly? And how do you perceive the fact that decades ago sweeteners such as cyclamate and saccharin were banished from the market because they were considered dangerous?

Erythritol (alcohol sugar/ artificial sweetener not being used in teeth cleaning solutions in dental practices. I know that some of you all need to be careful about artificial sweeteners for various reasons, and my dental hygenist did not do a good job of disclosing this change.

Another Study Links Highly Processed Food and Artificial Sweeteners with Depression, Other Serious Health Conditions
Over the years we have published the results of numerous scientific studies linking  highly processed foods* with serious health conditions like diabetes and heart disease, as well as linking artificial sweeteners** with depression. Now, another scientific study has replicated the findings of previous studies conducted from around the globe.  The most recent scientific study has found a link…

Are Zero-Sugar Drinks With Artificial Sweetener Healthy? Experts Weigh In
Of late, diet soft drinks, which claim to have low or no sugar amount have found favour among weight watchers and people suffering from diabetes. Sugar-free foods and drinks often contain artificial sweeteners which lend some sweetness to make them more palatable. This helps people pay heed to their craving for carbonated and fizzy drinks without loading up on sugar. Some people even add…

I bought a new brand of microwave popcorn last week which said "Sweet and Salty" in big letters, but it was only when I tasted it that I realised the sweetener was artificial and it's so important that products tell me they are using fake sugar in BIG LETTERS so I don't experience this sort of disappointment again.
Thankfully, I did not eat enough to experience a laxative effect.
you mentioned in a post about how drinking water doesn’t help with constipation, but said to eat fibre and also mentioned indigestible sugars. do you know if indigestible sugars make any kind of difference in how things move through the small bowel? i’ve been told they can increase the frequency of bowel movements, but nothing more than that. sorry if this is a weird or off-base question!
Indigestible sugars act as laxatives--that's why prune juice is so effective, because it has both a high amount of fiber and indigestible sugars!

is artificial sweetener a fusion modern setting with today techs with the trolls universe? do the bergens still exist?
Bergens exist, but I don't want to have any conflicts with them. They won't interact. They live in a city type setting but with the magical ness of trolls. Vacaytioners and Rageons are around too but aren't really around trolls much because it's just kind of impossible for them to live in a troll sized environment.
There are trolls that interact or fall in love with them, though. I think it's easier for trolls to live in a bigger space than a bigger creature trying to be in a smaller one.
They live in pockets or cities around each other but it's like... they live in separate communities and there's laws in place to keep everyone safe!

The human body's inability to break down sucralose, an artificial sweetener found in many zero-calorie food and drink products, is well established by scientific research. The compound is so stable that it escapes wastewater treatment processing and is in drinking water and aquatic environments. "We can't break down sucralose, and a lot of microorganisms can't break it down, either, because it's a really tough molecule that doesn't degrade easily. So there are a lot of questions about how it is affecting the environment and whether it's something that could impact our microbial communities," said Tracey Schafer, an assistant research scientist for the University of Florida's Whitney Laboratory for Marine Bioscience and the soil, water and ecosystem sciences department, part of UF's Institute of Food and Agricultural Sciences.

Look I appreciate that artificial sweeteners are a useful invention but can they please, please stop putting these in every.single.soft drink? I'd like to occasionally be able to get a soda I don't hate without having to closely check all the ingredient lists.
(I don't mind drinks having less sugar actually just stop replacing it with artificial sweeteners. I'm one of those people who always can taste the aspartame or sucralose or whatever and it tastes cloying and awful to me."Need to rinse my mouth asap" bad.And it's Everywhere now.I used to be able to avoid it by not drinking anything "light" or "zero" or "low calorie" but not anymore)
