Time to wrap 2022 up.
Barely did any good art this year, spent most of my after work hours vegetating and moping around. Didn’t get to meet new people, did not get into any new hobbies. I told myself earlier this year I will be a regular at the gym that did not happen. Did not learn anything interesting. Didn’t achieve my goals from last year.  I aaalmost finished one (1) good art piece, but then I dropped it mid-december. Overall, a year wasted. I mean, 2021 was also a miserable year for me, but this time I’ve learn not to stress myself too much over the fact. :D Yeah I’m wasting my life away, and so?
Eh  ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Here’s to a better 2023! For all of us 🎉 Seeyou next year

Argo 52?
This is for the "Draw a character matching the track on the number of the spotify 2022 wrapup playlist" thing.
On 52 is a track from the Detective Conan Soundtrack by Katsuo Ohno because that OST slaps.
spotify won't let me copy the track name so here is a screenshot.
Tumblr media
Detective Conan music just slaps, and also I collect the manga so here is Argo and some Thundermen but... like vaguely drawn in that art style or what i try to pass off as it. I don't have my mangas with me here rn so I can't properly reference the cross hatching styles that Gosho Aoyama uses

2022 Loosies: Porridge Radio — “Back to the Radio”
I do not hesitate at all to say I resisted Porridge Radio for a while because of their name. There’s always going to be too much music to check out, no matter how lucky I am I’m going to reach the end of my life with so much stuff still out there I’ve never gotten a chance to hear. So if there’s any arbitrary reason I don’t feel moved to hear something (album art seems silly; read a mildly annoying interview with someone in the band; someone was annoying about them; band name seems subpar to me) I don’t worry about it. To be clear, the opposite is equally true; unless there is an actual significant reason I’m not listening to a band, any small thing (a friend says they’re good; I like the tracklisting of a new album; I see an endearing What’s in My Bag episode featuring them; etc) can get me to check out a band I previously felt uninterested in. People will sometimes act like it’s Important to hear x or y, but it’s impossible to actually cover all of it, and also it’s just not that serious. (This would be different if I was getting paid to do it, naturally.)
Anyway, all of this is to say I thought “Porridge Radio” was kind of a silly name (still do!) and wasn’t particularly planning to check them out even after enjoying the Dusted review of the record this one comes from. But then in a big crowd-based year-end wrapup thing where I’m pretty committed to giving everything that gets picked at least a listen, this song was in there. (Someone also put it up for a band name in the song title” thing, and... no. Good song, doesn’t qualify there.) And damn if the song (and the video!) didn’t fairly nail me in my seat. The whole record is good, if I had checked it out back when I read the Dusted review I feel like it had a decent chance to make it on the albums list, but such are the vagaries of life and lists and calendar years.

This year was a wild one! I’ve had a lot of firsts this year! (First time losing 20lbs, winning an art award, being social since 2018, etc) This year also had lots of art improvement in it. I may not have been able to show it all in these 10 images, but that doesn’t matter. I wish all of you seeing this a fulfilling 2023! Happy new year!! 🎊

June 2023 Wrapup
June has ended, the time of Queer Pride is over, which means we resume our normally regular scheduled broadcast of Queer Wrath. Please do not adjust your set, we will continue to bang on pots and pans (both the metal object, and the people who are into lots of genders). Pride Month is the month where we party, the rest of the year is when we arm ourselves, you see.
But with that in mind, let’s check out a bunch of stuff I wrote and made this month and why you, you, you, might want to go back and read it, and see the cool things you missed!
Starting the month with our five game pile articles, threeeee of which were videos, we got:
Kings Quest I, a game commonly seen as the historical foundation of the narrative adventure game, and how its place in history is closer than you think it was.
I Was A Teenage Exocolonist, a truly amazing game designed, it seems to drill a hole in my skull and take up residence permanently.
Fallout New Vegas, and the question of why this game persists as a meme as a signifier of the trans community, specifically trans women
Girl By Moonlight, a Blades in the Dark hack that explores a genre that is mostly about women and tries to decouple it from the assumptions of Blades’ vision of Truama and how it changes you.
Playing With Tier Lists, where Fox and I talk about a bunch of characters for Pride Month that came out in 2022’s absolutely ridiculous anime seasons.
Then over in the Story Pile, we got:
Harrow the Ninth, the continued story of The Locked Tomb, and oh no I am going to be one of those people who just wants to recommend every book in this series aren’t I
Sword Art Online Alternate Gun Gale Story, a yuri series that also features a bunch of guns and a really insightful examination of the videogame structure of Sword Art Online
GGWP — Young Ladies Don’t Play Fighting Games, a manga about girls who want to do sick wavedashes as a metaphor for kissing
Call of The Night, a horny anime about a not-very-horny vampire, and the not-very-romantic boy who is trying to fall in love with her.
I wrote about the Hanamusa ship, which got attention from Kiana Mai, and therefore, it got fantastically large amounts of attention on tumblr. That was cool, that meant that there were people meaningfully engaging with the point of how Delia is a character you know can’t do some things, and you know that Jesse is a character who you know would do most things (that aren’t sensible).
I also wrote about queerness in D&D and my worldbuilding. I talked about how heterosexuality as a cultural frame has to be invented, and that means everyone in Cobrin’Seil exists at a level of background queerness we can’t. I talked about the forced gender locking of two different heritages in the 4e book Heroes of the Feywild, and the way that gender transition in 3rd edition was cheap enough to build infrastructures around.
The Story Piles were kinda overloaded this month – if I’d wanted to, I could probably have done nothing but anime for weeks! I summarised a bunch of queer anime that I didn’t really want to write about entirely as that. I also talked about the way that Wreck It Ralph echoes a story of a trans identity while trying to make that identity invisible. Then I got nostalgic about the woman who scared me about the sin of Pride because she was freaked out by a talking cat plush toy in a book for four year olds.
This month’s shirt design is a design that’s meant to evoke the Ulysses jacket from Fallout: New Vegas, which is a killer shirt design and I like it a lot. I might not buy it myself, because I am currently pretty poor, but that’s not the important thing. The important thing is filling my Redbubble store with stuff that makes me think: hey, I bet X would like this design.
I’m not always right but it’s what I’m trying.
If I could, I’d put this design on the back of a soft jacket. I don’t want it to be a hoodie, because the hood would hang over the top of the design, but maybe a long-sleeve shirt with this design on the back. Not sure.
At the start of this year in my journal I wrote this:
I want to do a better job of the things I know I care about.
Source more.
Plan ahead.
Double check.
Early bedtimes.
Permit softness.
This June, I knew I had some real bad days for early bedtimes. I got to bed at 5 AM one night because I was trying so hard to get marking done before a key date (which I messed up, hilariously, and had more time than I thought). Thing is, this is also a month where I was able to get myself to go to bed at 10 pm every day of the week until the weekend, and that’s good! That’s a really good difference in how I relate to sleep normally, especially since ‘get to bed at 10pm and then wake up at 7am’ is a great way to get more work done.
Elli also got more walks, more walks with both Fox and I together, that’s also great. He loves to walk in the sunshine. Bright, sunny days and he has this way of walking that I call ‘high steppin’, where he kind of struts and bounces as he walks, like he’s much more interested to look around than he is to snuffle around underneath the grass of things.
There was a big windstorm. There was Fox’s birthday, and my sister’s birthday. There was a lot of family stuff this month too. Bloodwork also got to take precedence – I was able to make sure I spent time on that, and time on my literature review.
I feel like I can do more. I want to do more. I want to do better.
Check it out on PRESS.exe to see it with images and links!

thats a wrap boys :D 2021 sucked ass but at least its almost over.
anyway, heres my art wrapup for 2021! ngl i drew a lot this year, almost entirely digitally. while i definitely did a lot of character illustration this year i ended up doing mainly character design? not intended but hell im not complaining
here were my goals from 2020:
create a short one off comic: i did start something (blurred pic above) but it was way bigger than originally intended and i gave up pretty quick, also for some ungodly reason i made the comic about a man and set it in space. two things i suck at drawing!! :D
post more unfinished art: yes!! whether it was because i was feeling lazy or being less of a perfectionist i posted all sorts of random shit (hell yeah) take more time on each piece: kind of? i actually developed a simpler style at some point so i could pump out more art for the art fight minigames. more time was spent on the big fancy pieces and less on the oc designs so more of a mix a suppose??
actually caption and tag things: ive learned my lesson and do this now lmao
use more unique poses and compositions: this is debatable but i would say i have definitely gotten better with anatomy and composition (thank u pose refs) i also started adding objects to my art and actually did a bg this year (fuck yeah!!)
actually do mermay: nope lmao, i didnt want to force myself so i just decided to say fuck it
as for goals for 2022? honestly i have no clue, maybe do another pic with a bg? kickass at artfight? this year i realized that more than anything i just want to enjoy drawing so i think maybe ill focus on that.
in conclusion, i sure did draw some shit and im gonna keep drawing some shit

Q: What is your favorite book you read in June?. Can somebody please explain to me how we're already 7 months into 2022?! Make time slow down!. In June I read 8 books, 4 graphic novels, DNF-ed 1 book, went to 1 concert, traveled to Philadelphia and Washington, D.C., went to ALA Annual, and saw 12 Broadway shows. Full wrap up post on the blog now, link in bio. These are a few of my favorites from June:. 🎨 Slip by Marika McCoola & Aatmaja Pandya - This is a fast paced graphic novel and I loved seeing the art work Jade and the other students created! Art isn’t just about the piece created, but the meaning behind it. This story also has a magical realism aspect to it which I didn’t expect. 💜The Romantic Agenda by Claire Kann - My favorite part about this story is that both Joy and Malcolm identify as asexual but show it in different ways – this book shows that there isn’t one way to be ace, its a spectrum. This book has everything you would expect from a rom-com – except on page sex. 👻 Not Good For Maidens by Tori Bovalino - Goblin Market retelling, but make it LGBTQ+. Excellent fantasy/horror YA story. 🍏 Wicked Beauty by Katee Robert - As with the previous two books in this series, I went in mostly blindly to the Greek mythology aspect to this. Wicked Beauty focuses on Helen of Troy, Achilles, and Patroclus – all of whom I know nothing about, but you don’t need to know anything in advance in order to enjoy this story. This story is told in alternating perspectives between these three and I loved all of them. #JuneWrapUp - #LMSJuly2022, #AlltheBooksJul22, #bookishconlifejul22, #novelebookreads, #TheShakespeareanaReads, OceanBreezeandSummerReadsJul22, #readingadventuresjun22 #WrapUp #MonthlyWrapup #MonthlyReads #JuneReads #BookReviewer #BookBlogger #Bookstagram #Bookish #Bibliophile #Bookworm #BoostingYA #BookishLife #BooksOfIG #Bookstagrammer #bookishflatlay #librarybookstagram https://www.instagram.com/p/CfhTgifrqvt/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=
