Another year, another art summary. I at least managed to do it within the same week as New Year's this time!

2024 was just another regular year of being an adult working a 9-to-5 drawing when I have the time to. There were productive months and there were dry months. I'm still experimenting with ways to speed up my art production, but it's always just chipping away at the art process.

My 2024 art muse was a silly Nintendo dinosaur this time. Sorry for the Summer of Grubba last year.

ah shit the passage of time . anywya have an artvsartist2024 second slide isn’t exactly one piece for every month (hence no month names) but it’s approximately there. template by WolverWM on DeviantArt. and not everything on the first slide was from this year but most of them were output this year was a little wonky. kind of inconsistent. not pictured: i did finish the entirety of my thumbnails for ch3 of comic (which i had started last year, but about 100 of which!!!!! i completed this year); and i did start actually working on chapter 3 pages (12 finished, 4 more in progress); and i did start posting chapter 3; and i made a korok mask! (two of them, technically. rip the first one) out of EVA foam! which i’d never used before!; and i uh. what else. i finished my StarHab fic and posted it, about 30k words of which were written This year; and also did just. so much. so much fucking research man. like i am not exaggerating like. 1500+ pages read of research that started out being vaguely fedallah related research and just. so so much. i read so much of that. jesus christ.; and uh. yeah those things mostly. and i went to my first escape room and first ren faire. which were both nice. and also. had. so many load bearingly shitty things happen this year, both in personal life and (gestures at everything). too fucking many. a good number of losses. least of all fuckin tumblr deleting my 7+ year old blog with years of art and writing and shit for no reason (besides of course that they’re racist <3) and then deleting my blog AGAIN when i made a 2nd one for no reason. and and and. idk. it was a year. mostly a bad one i think. a year of grief and loss and rage, a lot of it, for me. i would have liked to make more art (not in a “oh you didn’t do enough >:(“ way but more in a “this is the thing that brings you joy and it’s sad that you weren’t able to do that as much this year”). anyway. much more rambly this year’s end than in past ones. into the new year, as before: free palestine always and forever. may the year to come bring liberation to every colonized person. 💖

Another year, another summary of art done in that year!

And every single one of the chosen pieces related to D&D/TTRPG characters~ My home game table wrapped up the campaign that caught lightning in a bottle amongst us, and my Stream-Play table began not only one, but two campaigns within our homebrew world of Ulei'Var!

Hoping I get more time to draw next year!

My 2024 art overview!

2024 is coming to a close, so I figured I'd make an overview of my year! I can't believe it's been another year already, I've drawn such a crazy amount this year, I figured I may as well do an overview of all of it! 102 pieces this year as of posting, now 103!

I've had so much fun working on things this year, and am honestly super fond of how this came out! ( ´ ꒳ ` ) I saw a couple different templates going around, but you know I had to make my own, especially since I had such a vivid idea for it! LMAO

I've come so far this year, and gosh I'm so happy I can map out my progress so clearly! I think I'm most proud of how my anatomy and lighting have improved! Even if I'm not perfect, nobody is, and that doesn't diminish how far I've come and how much better I've gotten! I have so many more pieces I love compared to last year, and just that fact makes me so happy. ( ´ ꒳ ` )

My favorite piece would definitely have to be my Incense redraw! It was late in the year, and Fireflies in the Night, All Yours, Sweet Second Love, and Beauty to the beholder are all really close behind it, but that specific piece just turned out exactly how I wanted it. It's so pretty, it definitely has to overall be my favorite piece I've done this year.

My least favorite was hard to pick, since there were a few different ones I think didn't turn out too great, but so many parts of the piece I put were off and I know I could improve on now that I had to pick it. A lot of it's just really stiff, from the hair to the pose to the fabric. I might try and redraw it next year, but we'll see!

Very very proud of myself for all of the pieces I was able to make and the growth I've accomplished through my artwork this last year! Truly though I think my masterpiece is all six of these pieces from APA, but I could only pick one for the summary, so Mike it is.

Here's to continuing to create and grow, even when the world outside feels bleak and oppressive.

my art summary for this very turbulent year. I didn't get to draw nearly as much as I would've liked to and slacked like crazy in the rendering/shading department. buuuut I also confronted my fear of doing lineart and clean sketches, designed a ton, defined my personal aesthetics and refined my art style[s].
