If the floor is open, I’ve spent more than a little time pondering how I’d make an object show… Of course I don’t have the wherewithal or time for a commitment like that so I might as well share

I wanted to take the competition aspect and apply some world-building around it. Here, objectkind is split between your typical objects and celestials, who live out in space. The latter are hailed for their duty of collecting and distributing stardust: a life source for objects that animates them when sprinkled on them! To keep in contact they traditionally host an Olympics-style competition where the winner gets to pick the next generation’s “stardust day” as well as worldwide fame and fortune

There’s a preliminary contest to climb to the peak of a designated summit and meet the celestial host; anyone is free to join in, but only the first 15 (usually professional athletes) become official contestants. This particular run though, no host arrives and eventually the top 15 head back down to face the presses. It takes a full day for Comet to show up, because she… got lost… and the stragglers left behind become the new contestants of the Constellympics!

In short: Woefully unprepared host tries to run a professional competition with your average joes, all the while dealing with wacky hijinks and growing public outcry

The Extraordinary Story of Prisoner 16389067 from Narratively on Vimeo.

Jesse Krimes served five years in federal prison for drug charges. While incarcerated, Krimes created a larger-than-life work of art that he considers a reflection of the very walls that confined him. Working with only one small, individual section at a time, he created an approximately fifteen-foot-tall, thirty-foot-long piece of art, crafted from prison bed sheets which he obtained by paying off the washroom attendant. Using hair gel and a plastic spoon, Krimes transferred newsprint images from The New York Times onto the bed sheets, then had each panel sent out of prison.
